Barb: Barb Zant here. Corporate sales leader, founder of the lifestyle brand #thestayatworkmom and fashion stylist. As a lifetime learner it’s all about the simple things, finding joy in all we do each day. 

So Debbie, who is this high impact leader, that create it “make it happen” individual who has all around success and has chosen to make time for us today? 

Debbie: Well Barb, you were right when you said all around success. As this person comes to us as the founder of her growing organization with one of the most simple yet innovative products. A convertible, beautiful matter of fact. Her company's motto is “Be the Difference”, how cool is that? Was built on employing women in the US who are in sweatshops. Since the demand for the “Made in the US” products, sadly, contributed to rise in sweatshops in this country and I didn’t know that before getting to know her. Now from originating in San Antonio, our guest employs women happly manufacturing in their creative factory and clean, WOW, in Sarasota Florida where we are today. She knows that not all work places are created equal. After visiting 3 US factories that had substandard work conditions she set out to establish a work environment forged in integrity, creative expression and intention. You can tell when you’re here the craftsmanship of each of their products is a reflection of the work of the dedicated employees, made up almost entirely of female immigrant artisans, wow! She has a bachelors in Business Administration From Philadelphia University and had a thriving interior design company for 26 years. She is a light who shines in her presence with her ideas and her connections. It’s so exciting, Barb, that we get to chat with the swanky leader and entrepreneur Gretchen Bauer.

Barb: Welcome Gretchen! Before Debbie gets started with the interview we like for our listeners to hear something good, something unusual or defining about you for that some reason if you don’t go over in the podcast we wouldn’t otherwise know. So, do tell! 

Gretchen: I think that I am often misunderstood, I am always seen in heels running around and working and photographed frequently because of the fashion industry. My passion is truly behind the scenes. It’s about employing these women and I am actually more comfortable in the factory than I am at an event. So, it’s interesting that everyday I get to wake up, walk through the doors of B Swanky and I feel like I’m Willie Wonka walking through the factory and welcome everyone to come see it, it is the only real way to understand what we are trying to do here.
