Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on cater It's Australia's home of hip hop and

(00:02):
R and B. We are so excited right now to
be starting a brand new segment. We are doing these
six Degrees of Music artists. This is celebrating our guy,
Bob Marley. He has got his movie coming out exclusively
in Cinema's Bob Marley One Love. And so we thought
we'd have a little bit of fun and see how
we can connect Bob Marley back to the Australian hip
hop and R and B scene, in the reggae scene
and find out if we can connect him through six

(00:23):
Degrees of Music artists. So in the studio, I'm joined
by our guy b Wise.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Welcome.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
You're going to help go through this journey, ye, And
we got to kick off with the man himself, Bob Marley.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
We're talking about the late great Bob Marley. I feel
like his name resonates with so many still to this day.
I mean, he introduced the power of reggae to the world.
You know, his music is known for so much for
cultural liberation, political activism, and he really pushed the boundaries
of where reggae was coming out from Jamaica. And he
pushed it to the mainstream into the world and now
way he're talking about it today, and he's influenced so

(00:54):
many people in so many different ways, including myself.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
How do you think that he's influenced you as a musician.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
What stood out to me though, was just sort of
the personal connection about finding like culture and identity as
a musician as a standpoint, was just about won his showmanship.
Let's talk about the show performing. Hey, you can't see
anyone perform still to this day the way that he did.
So I've always been conscious of that one thing about
as well as the authenticity of the individual of the person,
so what the person is like off stage as well

(01:21):
as on stage. And I think that was the big
thing about Bob, you know, And that's why we're here
talking about it today, because he made more of an
impact than just being this larger than life artist, a
musician whose music was great in touch so many was
we also talking about a person who gave his life,
who stood for something, He represented that in his day
to day.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Let's talk about that, because I think it is such
an interesting thing with Bob Marley. It's so much more
than the music, as you say, it's his personality, his authenticity, charisma, culture,
the way he brought people together. What was it that
struck you.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
There was this one interview that he did, so he
actually came to this side of the world. You know,
we was actually in New Zealand.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Though yes, hometown, I claim Zealan.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I remember seeing that. I'm like, dam I was about that.
I'm like, dude, we miss that, you know. So one
thing that he did was he had an interview and
the interview asks him basically like, you know, do you
do you consider yourself a rich man? You know, do
you have a lot of possessions now that you're so popular?
You assume that about artists like to sort of flaun
that and just say, oh, I'm doing well. But Bob
simply replied, possessions. You know, what do you mean possessions?

(02:21):
The possessions make you rich? Bob said, I don't have
that type of richness. My richness is life forever. That
was just self in itself a powerful line, and what
we're talking about, he is, we're talking about the humility
of someone who's he's not worried or concerned about what
comes with the elements of success. It's just about you know,
the art, the craft, the message that's getting through to people.
This is very interesting and today where we look at

(02:43):
everything where it's like quite materialistic and quite you know, fast.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Pace, and it's so fleeting, Like the moments of positivity
and success are so fleeting. Bob and that sentence when
he was in New Zealand say you know, like I'm
so rich in my life at the time. And I
think that is what makes him as an artist so
beautiful and so powerful in his influence.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
And mind you what was he probably in his early
thirties of that The.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Man's a genius so early. Come on the man himself,
Bob Marley. We are starting these six degrees of music
artists getting his influence all the way to Australia to
celebrate the one man, one message, one revolution, one legend.
It is Bob Marley, One Love, coming exclusively to cinemas now.
