Speaker 1 (00:01):
Back it up the best moments from the week on Cada.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
You are here on pang on Cada with d Jack
and ag Baby, and they couldn't like Gold your daddy,
how daddy our baby?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Anyone that works for you?

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to Cada. Out of color. Gold is
a Afro artist, but I'll let you. I'll let you
tell us what you consider yourself. But all the way
from Nigeria, his first day in Australia as part of
the catch me if you can tour, so those people
that don't know you, introduce yourself. How you feeling. I

(00:35):
know you're tired, but how you feeling to be in
Australia so far away from home?

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Man, my name is Addconner Gold and ag Baby is
your baby or your daddy? Which I bone works for you? Yeah,
I'll let you decide that. A pop artists, I literally
make anything that I that I'm feeling, you know, and
check it in where my music is the best one,
you know? If I do see so myself And I'm

(01:00):
really excited to be here in Australia first time. My
music really took me to the end of the world
and I can't believe this is happening in my lifetime.
It's so great to see. But yeah, I'm excited to
be here. It's about to be like two beautiful weekends
just hanging with you guys, performing, singing my hats out,

(01:21):
and then it's going to be an amuseum one.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yes, yes, it definitely is. And it's been an amazing
year for Aphrobets here in Australia. Aphrobets has been slowly
growing here, but this year we've had a couple of
artists out. We've had Omla, We've had Ruga, we all
have Kistaniel coming soon. So you've come at a really
good time and I'm telling you now you are going
to have the best time. There's a big African community
here and the fans are ready and they are hungry

(01:46):
and just get ready to be devoured. I'm sure you've
seen all the other videos from all the other from
all the other shows that have happened here. But talk
us through your early life. What made you start music?
How had it all begin? I know you started off
as a designer, so if you want to talk us
through how that kind of led to who you are today.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
I mean it's always been music and then every I
think that I was I wanted to be One time,
I wanted to be a lawyer, and I knew I
was stupid because I hated reading, Like, how did I
even dream of being a lawyer without you know, having
a knack for reading as at that time. But all
through the journey of music was Constantino, even when I
wanted to be a visual artists that I am right

(02:28):
now because I studied art an industrial design in school.
I majored in graphics and that's why I designed all
of my stuff, right, you know, I designed my coverase
wanting now. Yeah, but music has always been there. It's
kind of pretty much started from the church, like a
person you know, every person story we always did from church.
Somehow I feel like the church to start charging people. Yeah,

(02:50):
like you know what I feel like, you're going to
the world. You're in the world, so you have to
pay us this deal?

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Now?

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, that's well, yeah, you know what I mean, vid
real is now, yeah, well say it from church. And
then I decided to really improve my songwriting. That's the Yeah,
improve my songwriting, and it would let me hear you know,
eight years ago I at least my first single, Shaddy,

(03:19):
and my life has been interesting give us.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
So, you've released your fourth studio album recently and it's immaculate.
I cannot stop listening to it. But I can't help
but notice from when you released your first album till now,
I feel like there's a big change that's happened, and
I feel like, catch me if you can. Is like
it's like the final, well not the final, but it's
the beginning of a new you know, you so talk

(03:44):
us through the evolution of ad My Gold, because it's
definitely there throughout the albums that you released. There's also
a change that's come within you. So I think that's
a really important thing that I want to kind of
get your perspective on.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
One of the best thing about me is that's how
I just embraced change. You know, when I see people
talk about how they're afraid to try something, and I'm like,
I can't relate, because how like, how do you want
to keep doing the same thing all the time. Yes,
you're afraid people might comfort you, people might not get it,
but how do you even live your life in fear
of and then by and by by so doing, you

(04:21):
just restrict yourself. You don't even know what you can
become you know, I can't relate from my first album.
Nobody even told me. I told myself that the next
one was going to be different, and then the next album.
And what's crazy about my albums is like, as I'm
making an album, I'm already making the next one. So
while I was making Gold, I knew that the next

(04:41):
one was going to be different.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Yea.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Then I called that one About thirty. About thirty I
released in twenty six eighteen. My first album was pure
high life. The next one, I knew it was going
to be high life but a bit of pop, you know.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
And then while I was making About Thirty, I knew
I knew twenty twenty it was all going to change. Yeah,
it was going to be afropop, which is going to
be the new era, you know. So while making About thirty,
I was already recording songs like Hair for Her that's
on afropop. So I kind of knew where I was going.
And I knew that Catching If You Can was going

(05:16):
to be the final you know what I've come up age.
I don't care about what people think anymore. I'm ready
to just you know, grow my wings and fly.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
And I didn't even know I was prophesying my life,
manifesting my life for that album. Since I released album,
I don't think I've been home more than two weeks.
I've really been everywhere, literally saying catch me if you can.
How am I all the way in Australia if somebody
told me I was going to be here, like it's
too far?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yeah? Look here, what's over there? They have kangaroos, spiders,
but that's an yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
But I mean the music has grown, you know, And
the one thing that I'm grateful for is even against
all the odds, because it's easy for people to dream
things to more trying things to put in the Yeah,
never had I've never had a reason too.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Yeah, just keep going.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Whatever people get to now or not, they will yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yeah. So in terms of like music artistry, so like
you know, creating, You've created all these beautiful albums. You
kind of just been doing what you want to do
and like the way that you want to do it.
What I want to know is because obviously when you're
creating art, it's really hard to find a balance between
self and the influencers around you. Like you would think
like oh I wanna maybe I should make it like

(06:30):
this because because it's popping here or like I've heard
this person do it, Like, so how did you? Because
I feel like you do that really well. You carry
yourself through your music and still you change it, but
you still maintain adkum My gold. Like every you can
hear a song that's so different, So how do you
find a balance in that?

Speaker 1 (06:48):
I guess for me, it's it's simple. The answer is
an artist is not in the studio thinking, Okay, what's
trend into pint. The pin will consident naturally, and that's
that's what I am. Yeah, I'm an artist painter. Like literally,
I'm a painter, so like I'm not in the studio
every day thinking what's working now because for how long

(07:08):
they want to do that? Trends are cool, but they
go by really fast. Yeah, and we've seen how we've
seen the demis of creatives that jumped on trends.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
And then to just gone pretty quickly.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Everything that I release, I have my back in it, Like, yeah,
there's not one there's not one song that I have
out that I cannot defend, you know. So it is
my art just being in the studio painting what comes
to me naturally. That's what I'm doing.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
