Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey there, my name is Corinne Oflin and you're
listening to the CalmEntrepreneur podcast.
I am a USA Today bestsellingauthor, non-profit executive and
organizing nerd with over 20years experience running my own
small businesses.
I teach entrepreneurs, solarpreneurs and small business
owners like you how to organizeyour business, find more time

(00:21):
and deepen your alignmentpractice to experience more calm
and confidence every single day.
If you're looking for thatintersection between practical
business advice and spiritualgoodness, then you're in the
right place.
So sit back, relax and let'sdive into this week's episode of
the Calm Entrepreneur podcast.
Welcome, welcome to the CalmEntrepreneur podcast.

(00:46):
I'm your host, corinne Oflin, and this is season two, episode
one.
So I felt called to change overto a new season for the podcast
because, after 25 episodes, ihave fallen into this rhythm of
really wanting to respond to thethings that resonate with you

(01:07):
guys, and the things that I'mhearing from you are that you
want to discuss more aboutalignment and really tapping
into what works for you, and Ithink that it's the reason why
this podcast is called the CalmEntrepreneur.
I think that my mission in thisnew iteration of what I'm

(01:30):
working on is I think that weneed to change the way that we
think about how we work.
I think that we need to stoptrying to find work-life balance
.
I don't think it exists,especially for entrepreneurs,
and I think that, asentrepreneurs, we need to find a
way to chase the integration ofour life into our work.
It's fluid.

(01:50):
It's meant to be all the thingsat one time.
Most of us entrepreneurs workfrom our homes.
Most of us have families andother obligations under our roof
, and most of us have built ourbusiness around those
constraints right.
Freedom was the reason we wentinto entrepreneurship for most

(02:12):
of us, and I think that the pathtoward success and growth and
building in the entrepreneurialspace causes burnout And I think
that, judging from the responsefrom my conversation in my
previous episode about burnout, this is something that resonates
with a lot of you And it'sprofoundly impacted the way that

(02:36):
I work today.
You know burnout is somethingthat you know.
Once you've tasted it andclawed your way out of it, you
don't ever want to go back, andI think that the conversation I
would like to have, i want topush it more toward alignment.
I want to talk about running abusiness and having success and

(02:56):
doing all those things rightMaking money, making an impact,
doing all those things, butmaking the goal our well-being,
making the goal happiness andfeeling good in our bodies and
health And really connectingwith the heart of our business
and the soul of our business.
And the only way to do that isthrough alignment.

(03:18):
And I think that you know theconversation around alignment
gets kind of muddied in.
I guess you know money doesn'treally fare because it really
does depend on the context.
Because you can be in alignmentwith you, know your word, you
can follow up your actions withyour word, do the things that
you say you're going to do, andthat is being in alignment.

(03:40):
You can also, you know, staytrue to your belief system, and
that is acting in alignment.
But what I'm talking about isyour soul alignment And that is
coming from human design And Ihave shared many times now in
the last several episodes abouthow profound the exploration of

(04:02):
human design has become for meAnd I really feel like that is a
path toward alignment for somany of us that it transcends
any kind of belief system.
It doesn't require any kind ofdogma.
It really is like a blueprint,it's a template, to quote Karen

(04:26):
Curry Parker, who teachesquantum human design.
There's not a lot ofunderstanding around what human
design is for the people who arenew to it, and so that's where
I want to go, and so thisepisode I wanted to kind of
introduce you to where I'm goingto take you this season, and it
all started with this sayingthat I heard when I was a kid,

(04:48):
and it was you are special andunique, just like everyone else,
right?
And it's like, yeah, haha, that's clever, but it's true.
Karen Curry Parker, who Imentioned, is the person who
created quantum human design.
She talks about the fact thateach of us is a unique cosmic
event.
All of us here on Earth today, all 7.9 billion of us, make up

(05:11):
the tapestry of humanity, and ifany of us were not here right
now, the tapestry would bedifferent.
We all have a unique role andwe all have a unique purpose in
this life, and our job should beto figure out what that is.
Our purpose is not what we do.
We are not what we do.
It's all about who we be, andthat is where human design comes

(05:36):
in, because one of the things Ithink that we're all struggling
with is we understand thatwe're unique and special, and
yet we spend a lot of timetrying to conform Right, and
that is so true in business.
Like you know, how many timeshave you seen, you know classes
on, you know how to do thealgorithm, how to run ads that

(05:59):
convert, how to do a salesfunnel, how to do all these
things.
And you know you're buyingsystems into things that you're
hoping that are going to workAnd you know I do the same thing
.
It's fair.
But I think that something thatwe need to really work on is
understanding how this system isbuilt And then what of that

(06:22):
resonates with me.
How much of those things areactually in alignment with who I
am, what am I going to continueto show up for And which things
just won't work for me?
And this is one of those thingsI talked about a while ago in a
previous episode about TikTok.
Like I just I can't make myselfuse the app.

(06:42):
I just can't.
I tried, i can't.
I don't like it.
It's not something I'm going todo And I don't care.
I don't care how much bountyand how much you know reach and
how much audience building andhow much of all that is going to
be available to me.
Should I focus on and reallyinvest my time and energy into
building a platform on TikTok.

(07:03):
It is so outside of thealignment for Corinne.
I just can't.
I can't do it, and sounderstanding more about
ourselves and how we tick isreally what's important to me,
and I think it's what is neededin order to get to this thing
called the calm entrepreneur.

(07:25):
A calm entrepreneur is a personwho is operating an easeful
business, is operating asustainable business, that is,
you know, we're all busy, thereis always going to be stress,
but it's not a, it's nottrudging, you don't feel like
you're walking through mud, because your business is in
alignment with who you are.

(07:45):
When we are born into thisworld, we are this human that is
full of potential, right, cosmic, profound potential, and
as we grow, we're influenced byeverything that happens to us
and happens around us, and thisis, you know, by our family, by
the people around us, oursociety, events that happen, the

(08:08):
weather, you know the climatewhere we were raised, the world
in general, and it's not justthe things that happen to us,
but it's our perception of thosethings and the meanings that we
assign to all of it.
And those meanings are madebecause of all of the things our
family, the people, society, events, the world.

(08:30):
It's this never-ending cycle offeedback that builds our
conditioning, you know, and it'slike we're this shining jewel,
right, we're this beautifuldiamond, and there's layers and
layers of dust and dirt clingingto us on all sides, and it's

(08:50):
not like it's heavy or it'sbothersome, it's just there,
we've just grown used to it, butit's blocking out some of the
light.
I actually heard somebody elsedescribe conditioning as though
we were this glass window.
So here we are, this windowmade of glass, and the light
shining through us is everythingthat we're meant to be.
It's all of our potential.

(09:11):
But the world and all of itsevents and all the meanings that
we've assigned to it are likethese gauzy curtains, right,
these sheer layers that are, layer upon layer, added on top
of the window, and they don'tblock out the light, but they
cause the light to becomediffuse, right, and we can still

(09:31):
see through it, but it's not100% crystal clear and we're not
able to beam the shine outbecause of all this stuff
sitting on top of the window.
And that is what is ourconditioning, and all of us has
it.
There's nobody on the earth thatis free of conditioning, but
our conditioning is what iskeeping us from becoming who we

(09:51):
truly are, our core self, youknow, the one, without any of
those things blocking us.
It's our deconditioned self.
And that is where human designcomes in.
The more we can unravel andwork through our conditioning,
the more aligned our life willbecome.
And it's not a finite, you know.

(10:15):
You decondition this piece ofit and then you're done.
It's life's work.
We continue to cycle up and youknow, as they say, the new
level same devil, like the samestuff is going to come back and
it's going to come back.
But the way that we react tothe life as it happens around us
and the things that happen tous, and the way that we perceive
and the meanings we assign tothe things will change.

(10:38):
And as we become more of ourtrue nature, we will then, you
know, level up and level up anddiscovering that there's a path
of that discovery available tous through human design.
So, for those of you who don'tknow, human design is a system

(10:59):
that blends astrology, theChinese Yi Qing, the Kabbalah,
the Hindu Brahman chakra modeland quantum physics to create a
unique tool forself-understanding, and it's
really important.
I want to underline that It's atool for self-understanding.
This is a self-exploration tool.
Your human design chart iscalculated using your birth data

(11:22):
and you put in your birth dataand out pops this thing called
the body graph And it shows the64 gates and all the different
places where you have definitionin your chart and openness in
your chart.
And it's really important tounderstand what is meant by all
of those things, becausesomething that happens with the

(11:44):
revelation of your chart is theword purpose starts to be
revealed, and I think it'sreally important to understand
that.
What is meant by purpose in theframework of human design?
your purpose is not somethingthat you're meant to do.
Like the Ra'u'rahu, the creatorwho channeled human design, was

(12:06):
actually reluctant to share theaspects of purpose through
human design because he didn'twant people to see their purpose
and it's revealed in what'scalled the incarnation cross,
but he didn't want people to seethat and then pursue it as

(12:27):
something that you can check offa list and get to.
That's not what it was meantfor.
Your purpose in the frameworkof human design or actually I
would argue in the framework oflike being a human your purpose
is something that appears whenyou are living in alignment with
your design, and it's justreally cool.
There's a really cool story thatI read about it in a book

(12:50):
called The Incarnation Cross byBrynja Magnuson And I lost my
page.
I'm going to have to turn backto the page again.
She talked about the Rainmaker, and what she said was that the
Rainmaker was this guy whotraveled from tribe to tribe
using his magic to end droughts,And when the Rainmaker would

(13:12):
arrive at a new drought-riddenvillage, he would be supplied
with lodging and food andanything else that he needed.
While he performed his rainmagic, the Rainmaker would
disappear into his provided tentfor a few days and soon the
rain would come.
In truth, there was no magic orritual involved.
The rain simply followed theRainmaker everywhere he went,

(13:37):
and she explains that therainmaker is a really valuable
way to understand purpose in theframework of quantum human
design, because the moment thatthe rainmaker tried to control
the rain, he would be out ofalignment and he would no longer
be called to arrive at certainvillages.

(14:00):
He would lose his connection tothat divine path and then
humanity would not be served.
The droughts would continue.
The magic is in the fact thathe surrendered his power and he
just followed the path where hewas being called.
He was operating in alignmentwith his strategy and there was

(14:20):
where he was able to fulfill hispurpose.
The purpose thing is kind of aslippery slope, and so I mention
it because it's somethingthat's been mentioned all over
the place in all of my research.
But the purpose of human designis not to reveal your purpose.
Your purpose in human design isself-discovery.
It's meant to help you findyourself.

(14:42):
It's not something that youneed to be using as an action
tool, because being in alignmentwith your design means living
in harmony with your natureright, not conforming with the
masses, and you find your truenature outlined in your
individual chart, in your bodygraph, and so once you start

(15:04):
understanding and then alsoaccepting your characteristics
and traits and making decisionsthat resonate with your strategy
and your type, alignment beginsto happen naturally and it
helps you better navigateeverything in your life, which
will then help you experience asense of purpose and a sense of

(15:25):
direction.
When you are living your life bystrategy and by your strategy
according to your type, that'swhen those magical
synchronicities happen, that'swhen the serendipity happens,
that's when it feels like you'rewalking on this magical bubble
of like whoa did that reallyhappen?

(15:45):
And I know that I'm not alone.
I know that I'm not the onlyperson who's experienced that.
So, whether or not you've everheard of human design, i know
that you've experienced thosethings, and so that's what I
really wanted to talk about inthis season of the Calm
Entrepreneur podcast, because Ithink that if we lean more into

(16:07):
what feels in alignment to us inour business and in our life, i
think that we will find moreease and flow.
I think that I know that whenyou operate in alignment, that's
where flow is, and we'resupposed to be able to operate
there.
It's not supposed to be hard.

(16:29):
There's so many coaches outthere that talk about like
mindset and money, mindset andsuccess, mindset and growth,
mindset and all these differentkinds of ways of thinking, and
mindset is everything you guys.
But the reason they talk aboutmindset is because we need to
dig deep and we need to look atall the different stories that

(16:50):
we tell ourselves aboutourselves.
That's our identity.
The identity that we have isnot necessarily who we truly are
, and the more that we are ableto unpack places where we have
become conditioned and identifywell, wait a second, that's not
something that really feels mine, but what is mine.
That is where you can digdeeper and you can find insights

(17:16):
into your true nature, whichwill then unravel all these
things like your potential andyour gifts and your challenges.
So human design offers that andso much more, and I wanted to
share that with you because I'mgoing to take a shift into the
human design world for the nextseveral episodes And I wanted to

(17:37):
share that with you.
So there are several aspects tohuman design that I'm going to
go deeper into in futureepisodes, and they are
understanding your type.
There are five types in humandesign and everybody falls into
one of them.
They are the manifester, themanifesting generator, the
generator, the reflector and theprojector.
That's it.
It's just five.

(17:58):
Each of those types has astrategy, and when you
understand your type and youunderstand and you can follow
your strategy, that is reallygonna be so powerful for
everybody.
And if you did nothing morethan just type and strategy,
you'd really be on a path towardsuper flow.
Strategy is unique to each typeand it's all about decision

(18:21):
making, and I've talked aboutthis before as well.
Generators are encouraged torespond, projectors are meant to
wait for the invitation, manifestors are meant to
initiate, and we'll go into allof this in further detail, but
something that I did wanna saywas that, yeah, there's only
five types and yeah, there's alimited number of strategies,

(18:43):
but there are 64 gates in theVodigraph And there's authority
and there's so much more.
That makes it all very, verynuanced for each individual
person.
So, after your type and yourstrategy, we recognize our
authority.
Your authority is your innerdecision-making system.
It can be emotional, sacral,self-projected, ego, manifested,

(19:08):
lunar, and by understandingyour authority and following
your authority, yourdecision-making will become so
much closer to your truealignment and your deeper self,
and that's when the magic startsto happen.
Further in, there's the centersin human design, and there are

(19:30):
nine centers in human design, each relating to different
aspects of your life.
They are correlate with thechakra system and all of the
chakras have seven.
Human design has nine centers, but they are all about your mind
and your emotions and yourideas and the way you
communicate, and understandingthese can help you align your

(19:53):
actions with your inherentstrengths and your areas for
growth.
You can understand your profile.
You can understand your gatesand your channels.
Everything in human design isunique to each of us And it's
related to the moment that we'reborn on the earth and where on
the earth we were born and theplanets and the position of

(20:15):
everything in the sky at themoment of our birth, and that's
what makes it unique.
So it really is comprehensive.
And there is so much more toyour design to discover And I
plan to journey with you overthe course of the next season,
sharing what I'm learning fromhuman design and how you can
apply it in your life.

(20:37):
Using human design as a path toalignment involves a deep
understanding of your uniquedesign, but the cool thing is
you don't have to dig all thatdeep to get started.
The deeper you dig, the moreyou learn, but everything starts
to make a whole lot more sense.
But really all you need is yourstrategy and your type.
That's all it takes to start tolive in alignment and make

(21:00):
decisions from that space.
Exploring your design resultsin aligning your decisions, your
actions and interactions withyour type, your strategy and
your authority.
It's an exploration into howyou make decisions, how those
decisions and your actions are adirect reflection of your
self-worth, and it's a deep diveinto the conditioning that we

(21:22):
all have as humans and thethings that we're here to learn.
Studying your body graph is ajourney of self-discovery that
can help you live moreauthentically, make decisions
more confidently and navigateyour life with greater ease and
true fulfillment in human designand specifically quantum human
design because that is where I'mtrained It's this whole huge

(21:43):
world of potential, of personaldiscovery, and it's available to
all of us And I would like toinvite you to join me and peel
back the layers of you.
So if you're interested inlearning more about human design
, it all starts with your chartand you can grab your free chart
out in the web or you can getit from my website and I'll put
a link in the show notes.

(22:03):
It's Karinoflincom and on mymenu it says get your free chart
.
It'll show you everything.
There's no more things toreveal.
You start by learning aboutyour type and your strategy,
which will be printed on yourchart.
You focus there on those twothings and see what you see.
If we all started understandingwhat it meant simply to follow

(22:26):
our strategy by our type, itwould really be kind of amazing,
you guys, and if you go nodeeper into human design than
understanding your strategy andyour type, that really is enough
to lean into.
So that's what I've got for youthis week.
I thank you for listening andI'm so excited to dig into this.
So next week I'm going to talkabout the different types and

(22:50):
I'm going to do the best that Ican not to make it overwhelming
because there's just so muchinformation.
So if you're interested indoing more of this, you know,
reach out.
Check out the chart on thewebsite.
I'm going to start adding moredetail in show notes, but I hope
you'll come back and learnalong with me, because I am in
the midst of becoming certifiedas a coach in human design.

(23:13):
I'm already certified throughlevel three of four levels.
Level four starts in the falland I'm super excited about it,
you guys.
I feel like it has seriouslyopened up this complete world of
exploration into what makes meme and what makes me tick and

(23:34):
why it is that I want to do apodcast and why it is that I
want to be a coach and why it isthat I'm doing all the things
that I'm doing.
It's all right there and it'sjust really cool.
So, anyway, that's what I'vegot for you this week.
Thanks for listening and I'mgoing to end it before I start
rambling on again.
Have a great one.
Remember, part of being a calmentrepreneur is developing the

(24:03):
systems, habits and know how.
That lets you know that you arethe one in the driver's seat.
You get to choose how you runyour business and you get to
choose how you work.
So you got this.
