you're listening to the CalmEntrepreneur podcast.
I am a USA Today bestsellingauthor, non-profit executive and
organizing nerd with over 20years experience running my own
small businesses.
I teach entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and small business
owners like you how to organizeyour business, find more time

(00:21):
and deepen your alignmentpractice to experience more calm
and confidence every single day.
If you're looking for thatintersection between practical
business advice and spiritualgoodness, then you're in the
right place.
So sit back, relax and let'sdive into this week's episode of
the Calm Entrepreneur podcast.
Welcome, welcome to the CalmEntrepreneur podcast.

(00:42):
I'm your host, Corinne O'Flynn, and this is episode 27.
Human design is quite possiblythe most comprehensive
self-discovery tool that I haveever found.
It's this unique system thatwas built to help us navigate
our energy, help us find our waythrough our lives by
understanding how to be ourauthentic selves and to make

(01:05):
decisions that are in alignmentwith our purpose.
It's incredibly personal, andwhat I mean by that is that it
shows us how we are truly unique, and this couldn't be more
valuable to us as entrepreneurs, understanding that we must
follow our own path and notfollow the crowd, that we must
empower ourselves.

(01:25):
That's hard to do.
But when you peel back thelayers of your human design,
it's inevitable that you willalso peel yourself away from the
pack.
There are five types in humandesign and your type is your
energetic signature, it's youraura.
And even though there are onlyfive types in human design

(01:48):
system, the rest of the systemreally points to all the
different ways that we areunique.
So we have our type, ourdefinition, our strategy, our
profile, our inner authority, our self and not self, themes
and our incarnation cross.
So those are seven of theelements that are present in

(02:09):
everyone's chart, which in humandesign, is called the body
graph, and each of those seventhings are informed by the 64
gates and all the planets andcelestial bodies and their
placement in the sky at certainpoints in your existence.
It's an incredible and profoundsystem that is meant for
contemplation.

(02:30):
It is meant to be somethingthat you can use to unpack you,
and I think that is what drawsme so deeply to it, because in
the time that I have beenlearning about human design and
in the time since I've becomecertified as a coach, i've been
coaching other people on theirdesign and coaching them by

(02:51):
design, and it's it's proof Ihave proof that there are
awakenings in store for all ofus.
If you are curious aboutyourself and looking within and
really tapping into who you areand what that means, and how you
can master your energy byunderstanding your design and
your conditioning, then this issomething that I urge you to

(03:12):
explore, and for a lot of peopleit's a lot of information and
it's one of those things that'slike the epitome of a rabbit
hole.
So, because there really is somuch to explore, if you choose
to open that door and discoveryour human design, i invite you
to listen to this episode for asimple one on one, kind of guide

(03:33):
to the first things that youcan dig into without becoming
overwhelmed.
But if you do wish for more, reach out.
If you want to get a chartreading session with me or you
want to explore coaching by yourdesign, that's something that's
available to you.
So over the next few episodes,i'm going to be covering the
different aspects of humandesign, starting with type,
strategy and authority.
So if you haven't yet learnedyour type and you are curious to

(03:56):
know what your type is, you cango to my website at
currentoflenncom and click onthe free human design chart in
the menu.
I'll also, of course, link thatin the show notes.
It only takes a few minutes, but you do need to have your
birth information on hand inorder to complete the chart.
So what is human design?
Human design was channeled by aman named Ra Uru Hu in 1987,

(04:19):
and it's a blend of four ancientmodalities the Kabbalatry of
Life, the Hindu Brahman ChakraSystem, the Chinese Yi Qing also
called the Book of Changes, andWestern astrology.
All of these systems have beencombined with genetics and also
quantum mechanics, and that'sreally important, because the

(04:39):
neutrino stream, which is darkmatter, is the field of
subatomic particles.
It is created by cosmic rays, and that is how energy travels
through the universe.
The neutrino stream is alsocalled prana, it is also called
chi, and I don't want to get toofar into the weeds on all of
that here, so I'm going to justdive into the first of the five

(04:59):
types that I wanted to coverwith you.
So, as I said earlier, there arefive types in human design.
They are the Manifester, theGenerator, the Manifesting
Generator, the Projector and theReflector.
The thing that differentiatesthe types is the way that each
type exchanges energy withothers, as well as the way that

(05:19):
they use energy to move abouttheir everyday life.
Each of the five types has arole to play in the collective
and each one has their gifts togive.
Each one has their strengthsand each one has their part in
humanity.
And I want to make it clear, because there is no type that is
more desirable or better thananother type Each type has

(05:42):
qualities that make them specialand unique, and understanding
your type is really what this isall about.
So the more we dig into how thedifferent types interact with
each other, the more it will beclear that we pick up on the
energy of other people that wespend time with.
That we have access to and whenlooking at the body graph, the

(06:05):
human design chart we all haveall of the chart And that is
something that Karen CurryParker, who is my Quantum Human
Design coach.
She makes sure to stresswhenever she has the opportunity
.
We all have all of the chart inhuman design.
The differences come from theplaces where we have definition

(06:27):
versus openness.
So there are 64 gates in thebody graph and all of us either
has them defined or open.
When you look at your chart andyou see the places that you
have definition, those are goingto show up as colored in areas
of the chart, and there's lotsof different companies that have
different charts available toyou.
The colors don't matter.

(06:48):
What you're looking for is ifit's colored in or not.
So again I want to say thatdoesn't matter.
I've been at websites that havethings in the traditional red
and black.
The one on my website will giveyou in gold and burgundy.
There are websites that you canget it in red and blue, and
whatever there is out there.

(07:10):
The colors are irrelevant.
What is most important is whenyou look at your chart and you
see the places that are coloredin, those simply mean that
that's where you have definition, as opposed to the open areas
that are not colored in, andwe'll get more into that as the
episodes continue, but today Iwanted to lay the foundation so
that we could dive into thedifferent types for some common

(07:32):
ground.
Okay, so let's get to it.
So today we're going to talkabout manifestors.
Manifestors make up about 9% ofthe population, and if you are
a manifestor, you are extremelyindependent.
The aura of a manifestor isdescribed as closed and
repelling, which is like what doyou mean when people hear these

(07:55):
words?
And I want to make it clearthat that is not a negative
thing.
I want to take an aside hereand talk about language, because
this is something that'sactually very, very important,
especially when you dig intohuman design, because they're
speaking in words that we allknow, but they're using meanings
that are not necessarily thetop line definition of certain

(08:16):
things, because there's so muchcontext and nuance to be learned
.
There is a lot of language usedin human design and in quantum
human design that often makes usjump to conclusions because of
the meanings that we associateto certain words, and that has
to do with how we were raisedand the culture and the world
that we're in today.
So a manifestor has a spiritualpurpose to translate divine

(08:39):
inspiration into action.
They do this by initiatingpeople into the frequency of
transformation and creativitythrough direct access to the
quantum pulse.
Now, that was a whole lot oflingo there.
A manifestor is here toinitiate and inspire, so they're

(09:01):
here to bring things intoaction and inspire other people
to bring things into action.
And why that's what amanifestor is is because their
definition is connected tosource.
So the manifestor has what weconsider a closed aura And, like

(09:22):
I said, that's not a negativething.
A closed aura means that yourenergy is impenetrable.
What that does is it protectsyou from the energies that could
otherwise influence you fromthe outside.
So, you see, being closed isn'ta bad thing at all.
When you run your chart and youidentify your type and you
start listening and learning allabout your type, you will see

(09:45):
that there are negativeassociations that you are going
to be making with some of thevocabulary that's being used,
and I want to urge you to resistassigning meaning there.
Instead, anytime you have thatniggle of negativity like wait,
i don't know that I like thisword that they're using to
describe something about my bodygraph, i want you to delve

(10:08):
deeper into what human designmeans by those words, because
having a closed aura isprotective And it is also
something that makes it harderfor others to penetrate your
energy.
It makes it harder for others toread you.
It also means that your energyis pushing outward from you.
Your energy is the kind thatothers feel before they see you

(10:30):
And that can sometimes strike anerve in people.
Right, the other word that theyuse to describe a manifester's
energy is repelling, but again, the repelling nature of the
manifester's energy is the thingthat attracts the right people
and pushes the wrong people away.
So again we hear the wordrepellent and it's like wait a

(10:50):
minute, i don't want to berepellent, but in the context of
human design, yeah, you do.
It's actually a gift to be ableto attract the right people and
turn the others away just withyour energy body, because they
aren't meant for you.
That's a good thing.
That's about alignment, andit's an alignment that is
happening without you having toactively do anything.
We project our energy intoevery space that we step into,

(11:15):
and everybody else is readingeverybody else's energy all the
time, whether they know it ornot.
And so when we have the gift ofbeing able to attract those who
will be inspired by what we'resharing, who will be excited and
drawn into all the things thatwe're working on doing, that's
actually saving you energy.
Right, that's less work for you.

(11:36):
So it's important to rememberthat manifesters are the
initiators.
They are the ones that, simplyby speaking and sharing with
others, they're going to makethings start to happen.
That makes manifesters superpowerful.
But one of the features of themanifesters body graph is that
they do not have a definedsacral center, and the sacral

(11:58):
center is the only energy motorin the body graph that is
self-sustaining.
Any of the other energy typesthat do not have a defined
sacral, it means that they'remeant to work in bursts.
They have inconsistent energyflows And there are going to be
cycles where there are highs andthere are lows.
So think of a sine wave movingup and down over a timeline, for

(12:22):
how that might look And thatactually manifests in real time
in the pattern for how amanifester works, how they tap
into their own energy.
So they might have this windowof time where they are working
nonstop pedals of the metal andgrinding out a project, followed
by a rest period, and that'snormal for a manifester.
It's required for a manifesterbecause their energy is not

(12:45):
something that can be sustainedindefinitely And that can look
different for different peopleAnd it can look different within
the same person from time totime.
It could be a month ofdedicated, focused working
nonstop on a specific project, followed by a month off.
Or it could be a week ofintensity followed by a week off
, and it doesn't necessarilyhave to be equal on, equal off.

(13:08):
I'm using that just forsimplicity in this explanation,
but it could be anything in adifferent project to project.
You have to find a way, as amanifester, to map out your own
energy, to see how you work.
The duration of each thing isnot as important as
understanding that it's vitalthat you have these rest periods

(13:29):
built into your work schedule, and this is for the manifester
types.
So, as I said, the manifesteris here to initiate.
They are the ones that are hereto do whatever it is that
lights them up, like you areliterally here to do whatever it
is that you want to do.
And that's kind of amazing, because when you follow your

(13:50):
energy and you find somethingthat lights you up and you
follow that thing and you letthat thing, that spark, be the
thing that drives you forward, that would be living your life
in alignment If you were able tomake every decision and do only
the things that served here.
Imagine that, imagine a way toput that into your everyday.

(14:12):
And as an entrepreneur, that'sespecially valuable, because
freedom is the key to unlockingthe things that drive a
manifester And as entrepreneurs, you have freedom built into
your life.
So every one of the five typesin human design has a strategy,
and the manifester's strategy isto inform.

(14:33):
Now, that's not very intuitivewhen you first hear it, but what
it means is that, before youtake action on whatever it is
that you've chosen to takeaction on, you are designed to
let the stakeholders know what'sgoing on.
Literally, you are meant toinform other people before you
do the thing, and that's reallyimportant for several reasons.

(14:53):
Number one because freedom issuch a huge theme for you as a
manifester.
When you feel like you might bedeprived of freedom or when you
fear that you're going to becontrolled or that your power
will be called into question, that's when a manifester
neglects to inform, and for manymanifesters, that's their

(15:16):
default setting Right.
They choose not to inform forfear of being controlled, for
fear of being deprived offreedom, for fear of having
their power being called intoquestion And, as a result, they
play small and they becomepeople pleasers or they become
raging rebels.
And all of this is to maintaincontrol, to prevent other people

(15:39):
from taking control from you.
So when you don't understandthat you are simply meant to
inform other people and you'respending all your time trying to
navigate how to get the thingsthat you want to get done done,
it shows up as all of thesethings as different at different
points in your life.
The value in understanding yourdesign is that you will

(16:02):
recognize those behaviors forwhat they are And then you can
course correct by leaning intoyour strategy first, and taking
the remedy for this, which isinforming.
When you were in your power, when you let other people know
what you're doing, you're notasking for permission, and that
is really important tounderstand.

(16:22):
Informing is not asking anybodyfor the okay.
Instead, you're saying Hey, youare in my circle, you are going
to be impacted by this thingAnd I love you.
And here's what I'm doing.
Informing mitigates any needfor you to chomp at the bit and
feel like you have to escapebeyond some constraints, because
you're not actually constrainedat all.

(16:44):
You've made it clear thatthere's this boundary.
Here You're saying look, i'mnot asking for you anything
permission wise, i'm justletting you know that this is
what's about to happen.
So that is what is meant by themanifesto strategy to inform,
and that's why it's important.
And what's interesting aboutthis is that for a manifesto,

(17:05):
like I said, it doesn't comenaturally because you're the
initiator, you just want tostart, whatever it is, because
you've got this pressure, youhave these ideas that are coming
in and they're activating youand you need to get things going
, and this is one of the mosteyeopening things for me And I'm
not a manifesto, but incoaching people who are

(17:27):
manifestos, when they start toreally sink in and let this
information percolate for alittle while, it starts this
kind of reminiscent musing wherethey're thinking through the
past and remembering times whenthis revealed itself and they're
like, oh, wow, okay, yeah, sothat kind of makes sense to me
now.
So if you are a manifesto andyou do nothing more than

(17:50):
understand your strategy as amanifesto and then start to
really lean into what it lookslike to live like that, i think
that you're going to find somuch more ease and so much more
connection with the peoplearound you and perhaps discover
why things didn't flow so easilyfor you in the past, because
you hadn't been following yourstrategy to inform And this is

(18:12):
not a place to bring in anyguilt, it's just about
understanding, because youdidn't know, and now you know
right.
So the shorthand for learninghow to really embrace your
strategy as a manifesto is tofinding three things Who needs
to be informed, when do theyneed to be informed And what do
they need to be informed about?

(18:32):
So the who is easy It's anyone.
Period, it's anyone.
It's anyone who could beimpacted by what you're doing,
and it's not just the people inyour family or in your, your
team or in the immediatevicinity.
It could be the world.
It really just depends onwhat's going on.
You are literally meant to shareyour ideas on social media, for

(18:55):
example, or send out an emailnewsletter to everyone on your
list to inform them of whatyou're doing before you do it.
So when you have that impulseto do so, you know, experiment,
see how it feels, see whathappens when you do that.
The next piece is when?
When should you be informingpeople?
A manifesto should inform oncethey know what they're doing,

(19:20):
but before they start.
So as soon as you've made thedecision, that's when the
informing happens, and it'simportant that it happens before
you do the thing.
And the next piece is whatshould you be informing people
about?
The answer is everything.
And again, this is not aboutasking for permission.
This is letting people knowwhat you're doing, because often

(19:41):
the manifestor is so caught upin their head and their thinking
about what they're doing andwhy That they forget that they
have to communicate these thingswith the people around them.
Karen Curry Parker, who I sharedwith you earlier is my quantum
human design coach.
She has a really great example, for the manifestors need to
inform And I wonder if anymanifestors out there have had

(20:04):
something similar happen.
If you have, i would love tohear from you.
So she talks about a marriedcouple who decides that they're
going to watch a movie afterdinner.
So one partner goes up to thebedroom to get out of their work
clothes and into something morecomfortable for watching a
movie, and then the manifestorpartner goes into the kitchen to
make some popcorn for them toshare for the movie.

(20:26):
While the manifestor is in thefridge getting out the butter,
the manifestor sees oh, we'reout of milk.
So they grab their keys andthey hop in the car and they go
down the street to the deli toget some milk real quick,
because they know that theirpartner really likes milk and
their coffee in the morning Andthey love their partner and they
want their partner to be happy.
So while they're gone, thepartner comes downstairs.

(20:47):
They're in their sweats, theygot their blanket, they're ready
to watch the movie And themanifestor is nowhere to be
found.
So then the manifestor getsback from the deli with a gallon
of milk, thinking that theyjust did their partner a salad
and they're floating on thehappiness of all the good deeds
because they don't want theirpartner to get caught in the
morning without the milk fortheir coffee.
Meanwhile, their partner issitting in the kitchen tapping

(21:09):
their finger on the table, furious because they had no idea
where the manifestor went.
They feel like they got dumpedfor their movie date and they
would like to know why.
So that is a typical scenario.
For the reason the manifestorneeds to inform, and this
situation would have beencompletely never would have
happened had the manifestor justsaid hey, i run into the store,

(21:32):
ride a milk.
It's just an interesting thing, because when you hear that the
strategy is to inform, it's likethat doesn't.
I don't really understand.
And again, that goes back tothe value of really learning
that the language that is usedinside of the human design
system is.
It's words that we all know, but it isn't necessarily the
meanings that we associate tothose words initially.

(21:54):
So I don't know that that canbe overstated.
Human design has themes for eachtype that are the signs for
each type to know whether or notthey are acting in alignment,
and those themes are called theself theme and the not self
theme in traditional humandesign and the balanced and

(22:15):
unbalanced expression in quantumhuman design.
Now, i've been trained inquantum human design and
traditional human design And Iprefer the language of quantum
human design because it feelsmore accessible to me, because
we move through these themes allthe time, and it's not rigid at
all And I feel that thebalanced and unbalanced

(22:37):
expression is gentler And I feellike it's just easier to
connect to because it talksabout a state of being in a way
that lets you know that thecorrection is actually there for
you, and I just prefer to talkabout it that way.
So a manifestor has a directnonverbal connection to divine

(23:00):
inspiration And this isimportant because when a
manifestor is acting accordingto their strategy, they know it,
because what they feel is theirself theme, they feel that
they're in their balancedexpression, because they feel
peace.
Manifestors are here toinitiate ideas.
You are here to bring ideasinto the world, to inspire other

(23:23):
people to take action withtheir lives, and for you to take
action, you are constantlyexperiencing that pressure to
create and that creationrequires freedom and that
freedom is allowed the mostspace when you inform.
The other side of that is theunbalanced expression And this

(23:45):
is the not self, This is thename for the experience of what
it feels like when you're actingout of alignment.
And so, for the manifestor, thesign that you are in the not
self, that you are in yourunbalanced expression, is anger.
And what's interesting aboutthe anger here is it is not
anger directed at a singleindividual or a situation, it's

(24:09):
energy.
The manifestor is an initiator.
The initiator has a direct, nonverbal connection to divine
inspiration.
The amount of energy comingthrough that channel is so
powerful They have it built intothem to do and it's coming from

(24:30):
source.
They are channeling all theideas, they are bringing all of
this energy in and they areliterally manifesting things
into the physical realm throughtheir actions.
And when that action isdisrupted, that energy flow gets
cut off and that channel hasnowhere to go and it explodes

(24:50):
out of the manifestor in a flesh.
And that looks like rage, thatlooks like anger, because the
intensity of that response cancause so much friction in the
people that are affected by it.
And one of the ways to preventthat from happening is
preventing the disruption,preventing somebody from
knocking on your door whenyou're doing your work because

(25:12):
you told them, you informed themahead of time.
Hey, i need to shut my door fora little while to get some work
done.
I'll be back.
So that is the balanced andunbalanced expressions and how
they are actually triggered byfollowing strategy.
And the last piece that I wantedto talk about for understanding
your type in human design hasto do with authority.

(25:34):
Now, authority is not specificto a specific type or a specific
strategy.
When you understand how to useyour strategy with your
authority, you will findyourself living a life where
things are easeful and theyliterally fall into place and it
starts to feel magical.
And what this rules is the wayin which we make decisions.

(25:57):
So each of us is ruled by oneauthority type, and
understanding your authority isvital to being able to follow
your strategy and your type.
So there are three differentauthorities that are available
to manifestors, and they areemotional authority, splenic
authority and ego manifestedauthority, and these have to do

(26:17):
with which centers in the charteach person has to find, and
then there's a hierarchy towhich ones override the others,
because you might have all threeof these defined, but then only
one of them takes theprecedence and then that is the
one that defines your authority.
So, for manifestors with anemotional authority.
Once they follow their strategyand inform they are meant to

(26:39):
ride their emotional wave whileholding this decision in their
minds.
If they are able to hold andmaintain the yes answer or the
no answer to this decision overthe course of their cycle of
their emotional wave, then, andonly then, can they be sure it

(27:00):
is time to act.
Now.
I'm gonna talk further aboutthe emotional wave in a future
episode because it's much morenuanced than I can really go
into here, because it's anotherone of those things that is
specific to the individual.
But it's just such aninteresting thing.
The emotional wave has nothingto do with like if somebody made

(27:22):
you angry and then you're allbummed out.
That's not your emotional wave, your emotional wave.
If you spent the entire dayfloating in a pool and doing
nothing but experiencing peaceand calm over the course of your
day, you will experience thehigh and the low of your wave as

(27:42):
a result of nothing but thefact of your simply being.
When you're able to identifyyour wave, you know how long it
takes, and it's a consistentthing for people.
I know people who have a wavethat's only a few hours long,
and then I have people that needto sleep on it.
They have an overnight like a24 hour or 12 hour wave.
So it's really interesting, ifyou have emotional authority, to

(28:06):
learn how to identify your waveso that you can hold on to that
when applying your strategy.
The next kind of authority thata manifestor could have is
called splenic authority Andagain, once they follow their
strategy and inform the splenicauthority, manifestor needs to
go within.
They have to access theirintuition and have their, their

(28:29):
body tell them whether or notthey're making the right move.
It's a physical thing becauseit's from the spleen, and we
can't make that decision untilwe know what feels good in the
body.
It has to feel good.
And then the last one formanifestors is called ego
manifested authority, and theseare the ones who can oftentimes

(28:53):
be heard talking to themselves.
So once a manifestor with egomanifested authority has
followed their strategy andinformed, they need to verbalize
it, whether they verbalize itto another person or they just
talk to themselves.
They need to verbalize what itis that they're thinking about

(29:14):
And it has to happen right inthe moment of the idea or the
decision.
You need to hear yourselfspeaking it in order to get
clarity so that you can make thechoice that will be most in
alignment for you.
And that is so funny to me,because I have manifestors in my
house and they are the ones andI am a manifesting generator
and I have some of this, and itis a thing Like it is.

(29:38):
Well, maybe it's funny that I'mdoing a podcast, like I need to
verbalize a lot of the thingsthat I do, so to review.
In this episode we did a deepdive into the main points of
what it means to be a manifestor.
We talked about having a closedaura and a repellent aura and
what that means.
We talked about having thestrategy to inform.

(29:59):
We talked about hoodwin form, when to inform and what to
inform about.
We talked about the balancedand unbalanced expressions, the
self and the not self, theme ofpeace and anger And the fact
that you're here to initiate andto inspire others and that
pressure to do so requiresfreedom.

(30:20):
We also talked about the threedifferent types of authority
that manifestors might have, which are the emotional
authority, splenic authority andego authority.
If you are a manifestor, thelesson for you is to learn to
use your energy sustainably, andto do this, you must step into

(30:42):
your power and understand yourvalue as a human being and stop
playing small and don't letother people make you dim your
light, because you're here toinspire and you need to learn
how to work, to follow yourstrategy, to inform.
Okay, so I hope, afterlistening to this episode, you

(31:02):
understand a little bit moreabout how valuable it is to
understand your strategy andyour type and your authority.
If you're interested inlearning more about yourself and
your human design, i urge youto go to my website and get a
free human design chart.
You do need your birth details, and so, once you have that
information, you can begin toexperiment with all the
different ways in which yourdesign can be tapped into to

(31:24):
make a whole new life for you.
It's incredible because itdoesn't mean that you're going
to change everything in yourworld and you're going to quit
your job and move out of town.
You're going to keep doing allthe things that you're doing,
but you're going to do it withan awareness that you didn't
have before, and it's just mindblowing.

(31:46):
It's mind blowing, so I hopethat you're able to lean into
that, and if you are amanifestor in anything that I
shared here today resonated withyou, i really would love to
hear from you And I hope thatyou tune in next week for my
episode on generator types.
So have a great week.
