I teach entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and small business
owners like you how to organizeyour business, find more time

(00:21):
and deepen your alignmentpractice to experience more calm

If you're looking for thatintersection between practical
business advice and spiritualgoodness, then you're in the
right place.
So sit back, relax and let'sdive into this week's episode of
the Calm Entrepreneur Podcast.
Welcome, welcome to this week'sepisode of the Calm

(00:44):
Entrepreneur Podcast.
I'm your host, Corinne O'Flynn, and this is Episode 30.
So, before we dive into thisweek's episode on projectors,
I'd like to touch base brieflyon the general concept of human
design, because this series isthe first time I've jumped into
it and, for those of you who maynot have caught the previous
episodes in this series, Iinvite you to stick with me

(01:06):
through this overview, because Ibelieve repetition is crucial
and through repetition, conceptsbecome embedded in your mind
and that's how learning drops in.
So, as I've said many timesbefore, human design is arguably
the most detailedself-discovery tool that I've
ever come across.
Its primary purpose is to guideus in harnessing our energy and

(01:30):
steering our lives towardauthenticity and making
decisions that are in tune withour true selves and our lives'
purpose, and it is highlypersonal and it really does
underscore our truly uniqueindividuality.
It's what makes us human.
For entrepreneurs, thiscouldn't be more critical.
It's a call to blaze our owntrail right, to break away from

(01:52):
the herd mentality and reclaimour power.
Peeling back the layers of ourunique design inevitably
distances us from the collective, and I think that that is
something that we really do needto start embracing more as
entrepreneurs, because I thinkthat I've said this so many
times that when we're inbusiness, we're always online
and we're learning from otherpeople and we're trying to

(02:13):
figure out the secret keys tothe kingdom of whatever it is
that we're trying to do, andsometimes the key is to not
follow the pack and that's sohard to do.
But I find that, through thejourney of really exploring our
individual human design, it'sinevitable.

(02:33):
I think that the more we learnabout ourselves and our type and
our strategy and our authorityand the way that we're here to
be, the easier it becomes toreally just trust in our
individuality and our uniquenessand that we're here to bring
something special to the world.
Each and every single one of usis here to be part of that

(02:59):
tapestry of humanity, and whenwe are not living our purpose,
we're not here to be a part ofwhat we're going to be Right,
and your purpose is not what youdo.
Your purpose is who you are.
When we are not doing that,we're out of alignment, then
we're wasting energy.
In human design, we identifyfive different energy types and

(03:20):
this is, you know, your energysignature.
But despite there only beingfive types, there's also our
strategy, our definition, ourprofile, our inner authority,
our self and not self, themesand our incarnation cross, just
to name a few.
There are also 64 gates thatinform all of these different

(03:43):
things and you know, all ofthese elements are present in
everybody's chart, which iscalled a body graph.
In human design, the systemoffers a rich tool for
introspection and it's a meansto delve into your inner self
and, from my experience coachingothers based on their design
and learning to live by my owndesign it's apparent that there

(04:06):
are truly enlighteningdiscoveries available for all of
us.
So if you have a curiosityabout your design, or digging
deeper and understanding how tomaster your energy.
And you know, if you'reinterested at all in talking
about that, join my community, you know, connect with me.
I'm happy to show you the way.

(04:27):
It's so exciting, you guys.
So in this series of episodeswe've been digging into the
different aspects of humandesign, starting with type,
strategy and authority.
And if you're eager to knowyour type, visit my website.
You can run your chart for freeat karinoflincom.
Click on a free human designchart in the menu and remember
to have your birth informationready, because you need your

(04:48):
time and place of birth in orderto have an accurate chart run
for yourself.
But once you do that, all youneed to know to get started is
your strategy, according to yourtype and your authority.
You don't need to dig anydeeper to get started on how to
learn so much about yourself, because there's just so much
information.
But one thing that I do want todiscuss is I'd like to clarify

(05:12):
that no type is superior or moredesirable than another type in
human design.
Each possesses qualities thatmake them distinct, and as we
explore how the different typesinteract, it'll become evident
that we can tap into theenergies of those around us.
And this perspective, emphasized by my quantum human
design coach, Karen Curry Parker, reveals that everyone has

(05:35):
access to the entire humandesign chart, and this is really
important, like it needs to beunderlined, because the
differences emerge when we lookat our charts and we identify
the areas that are definedversus the areas that are open,
with the body graph having 64gates and the nine centers.

(05:56):
When we look at our chart, itis not accurate to say that
something that's open is I don'thave that in my chart.
That is completely wrong.
You have everything in thechart.
We all have all of the chart.
The difference is in how weexperience the energy of all
those different things.
If it is defined, we accessthat energy on a very consistent

(06:18):
basis, and if it's open orundefined, we experience that
energy variably.
That is all that that means.
So it's really important foreveryone to understand that if
you have something undefined, itdoesn't mean you don't have it.
It just means that youexperience it in a variable way
as opposed to a consistent way.

(06:38):
Okay, so, with that all said, let's dive in to this week's
type, and that is Projectors.
Projectors represent about 20%of the population and they are
the guides of humanity.
They are here to guide everyoneelse.
Literally At their core, projectors are here to follow

(06:58):
their strategy and theirauthority and use that to guide
everyone else to fulfill theirpurpose.
Projectors energy is calledpenetrating and focused, and
that means that they can seeinto other people.
They can penetrate the energyfields of other people and see
so much more of what's going onaround them.

(07:19):
They can literally read theroom.
This is important, given thefact that their purpose is to
guide all of us, because whenthe projectors align into the
energy of the world, they arehere to heal the planet.
They are here to do so much inempowering the rest of us and

(07:39):
guiding the rest of us on ourtrue paths.
If that sounds like theprojectors are pretty special,
it's because they are.
They are powerful resources forthe world.
They are the ones who are goingto push us toward the next
phase of growth in humanity.
That sounds like this huge tallorder, but it's true.
We are evolving as humans, weare shifting in the world and we

(08:02):
are in a total inflection pointin just about every way in
society in humanity.
The projectors are here to makethat all come to fruition.
But because they do not have asacral motor their energy.
As a projector is veryinconsistent.
It relies on the people aroundthem and what's happening in the

(08:23):
planets, in the celestialtransits.
This is actually reallyimportant for the projectors to
understand well, actually forall of us to understand, because
if we have projectors in ourlives, because the projector
must rest and the projector mustconserve their energy and build
up their energy so that, whenthe time comes, they have the

(08:44):
energy that we need for them toanswer the call.
Rest for projectors, though, isn't actually rest, although it
can be sometimes rest.
Rest for projectors looks likefollowing their passion.
It's doing things that theylove to do, it's creative play
and it's all in the interest ofserving their energy.
Because it's only when aprojector has all of their

(09:05):
energy stores filled up thatthey can live by their strategy,
while the rest of us might worka more typical workweek.
This isn't really something thatthe projectors can do
sustainably.
In fact, many projectors behavelike generators, and many would
probably self-identify as agenerator type because of their
conditioning that they receiveall the way back from when they

(09:27):
were children.
Society tells us that we aresupposed to be doing something
all the time Do, do, do right,go, go, go, but this simply is
not true for the projector.
In fact, this is actuallyreally dangerous for a projector
, because when a projectorbehaves like a generator who
continues to go, go, go becausethe generator has that
sustainable order, the projectorbehaving like a generator is on

(09:51):
a path for burnout, and that'sa very real thing that they need
to be careful of.
Projectors are meant to guideand that means that it's their
wisdom that serves the world.
We are looking to them fortheir wisdom, for the
information, for the things thatthey know, and that can be
really difficult for projectorsbecause their strategy doesn't

(10:14):
allow them to just share theirwisdom.
The projector strategy is towait for the invitation, and I
mean think about that.
It's a hard one, because thatmakes it sound like the
projector isn't actually reallyin control of where they put
their energy, but that is not ascut and dry as that sounds.
Especially in business, asentrepreneurs, it is possible

(10:35):
for a projector to be asuccessful person running a
business, to be successfulshowing up online, to be
successful doing whatever it isthey choose to do.
The important thing is that theprojector understands that they
can show up online, they canpresent their offers and they
can do whatever they wish to doin their business, as long as
they're being mindful of theirenergy.
So the projector needs toconserve their energy and this

(10:58):
runs counter to the ways thatwe're conditioned to work,
understanding that the projectoris supposed to rest and
supposed to conserve theirenergy.
It really does make a lot ofsense when you see it in action.
Waiting for the invitation forthe projector really means
waiting for others to come inand ask for their guidance, to
ask for the advice, to ask forthe wisdom and the insights.
But unless the projector isinvited to use their penetrating

(11:23):
power where they can see thebigger picture, that wisdom will
not be received.
It'll fall on deaf ears,literally.
In fact, it will turn peopleaway, and this is one of those
cases where the language ofhuman design it calls that
repellent.
Like the projector who is notfollowing their strategy can be
repellent, and it literallymeans that it won't make people

(11:44):
run for the hills, but it'llmake people not receive it.
It'll just literally fall ondeaf ears, and that's the
opposite of what a projectorwants.
It's the opposite of what aprojector is here to do, and
what that results in is theirnot-self theme, which is
bitterness.
So I will never forget when Iwas talking to a friend of mine
who was a projector and we werediscussing an interaction that

(12:07):
she was having repeatedly withthe same person, over and over,
and not understanding why thisperson wasn't listening to what
she was saying.
She was like it's like theyweren't hearing me.
She was like it's like I'minvisible.
And I was like well, you're aprojector and that means that
unless they're open to whatyou're saying, unless they are
seeing you and telling youthrough the invitation that they

(12:28):
want to hear what you have tosay, it's not going to happen.
And the way that that littletidbit landed for her was so
profound because it spoke to somuch of her lived experience in
her entire life up until thatmoment.
She spent so much of her timein her life wondering why she
felt invisible in certainsituations and why in others she
was so well-received and soempowered.

(12:51):
And learning that this is theway that her energy is meant to
work has actually had a reallycool impact, in that she's more
discerning with how she comesinto situations where she has
wisdom to share, because aprojector's strategy is to wait
for the invitation.
But that doesn't mean that theprojector can't say, hey, I have

(13:11):
something to share if you'rewilling to hear it.
So the projector canmanufacture invitations in that
way and that can be a powerfultool to have in their toolbox,
because once they understand howthat is meant to work, they can
actually drive it to work forthem.
The other side of that waitingfor the invitation is learning
to not share things, despite theclarity with which they see

(13:33):
things, and I have to imaginethat that's really difficult.
And when you look around inhuman design and human design,
coaching and human design forbusiness and all the different
places that coaches are coachingpeople, there's an entire
coaching field designed just toserve projectors, because this

(13:55):
energy is so nuanced and theirstrategy is just so particular
and their energy is not built tobe sustained in the way that
the other types are.
But I want to make it very clearthat a projector can run a
business just like everybodyelse does.
They can build things, they cando things and they can create

(14:16):
and they can share, especiallyin our online world right, where
everyone's out there sellingand sharing and presenting and
being seen.
The projector can and should doall of those things, except for
the selling piece.
Those should be visible, showing somebody what they're
doing and how lit up they are bythe thing that they're doing

(14:36):
and because of the way that theprojector is so energized by the
things that they are doing andthe things that they have to
share, that will then cause thepeople to come to them.
And that is an interesting wayof thinking about business
because, you know, I wonder deepdown all of us as people.
You know, no one likes to besold to, but the projector's

(14:58):
strategy actually guides themnot to do that, like not to sell
to people, but instead showthem how lit up you are by the
thing that you have, show themthe solutions that you can
provide to other people and letthe people come.
Let the people come and thentheir coming is the invitation
to share right?
Because they're going to say,oh, I want to know more about
that.
They're going to ask you thequestions and those questions
are the invitations right?

(15:19):
It's just an exciting way toreally see the projector energy,
because the things that theprojector has made available
were enticing enough that theycaused the invitation to come.
They drew that invitation outin someone else.
I think that's really exciting,so understanding that if you run
your chart and you discoverthat you're a projector and this
is something that's new to you.

(15:40):
Maybe this is the key, maybethis is like super validating
and you finally understand thatthis is how you should be
operating.
You know, two of my sons areprojectors and learning this
about them was really eyeopening for me and it really
shifted my understanding of theway that they operate in the
world completely.

(16:01):
It made me show up differentlyas their parent and it changed
the way that I spoke to themabout the things that they were
doing with their time right.
So understanding the nuance ofthe projector energy is really
important for all of us, I think, because not only if you are a
projector right, learning aboutyourself in this way has to be
really eye opening, but if youare a person who is surrounded

(16:23):
by other people who areprojectors, this can really help
you understand the way that youshould be or could be
interacting with those peopleand why in the past, things
haven't flowed as you had hopedor I don't know.
I just find it reallyinteresting.
So, at its core, the way aprojector can live by their
strategy in their day-to-daylife is by following the things

(16:46):
that light them up in doing thethings that fill their cup in,
following the passions in theirlife and spending their time and
energy on those things, thenthey will become lit up and full
of energy and then they will beseen, which will then bring in
the invitations.
And I think the hard thing forthe projectors to understand is

(17:07):
that the reason why theinvitations are not coming in is
because their energy isn'tthere, and it's not like the
rest of the world is looking atthe projector and saying, oh,
they don't have the energy, theenergy isn't there.
It's not something as plain andobvious as that.
It definitely is an unconsciousthing that a depleted projector
won't get the invitationsbecause something in the rest of

(17:27):
us can see that they don't haveit available to us, and that's
a shame, because the projectoris the beacon, right?
They're the ones that areholding the lantern at the front
of the trail showing us the way.
They just have to make surethat they're keeping their light
lit, right.
They're keeping themselves fullat all times, full stop.
Projectors are the ones wholiterally have to keep their cup

(17:50):
full so that they can feed theworld from the overspill in
their saucers, right?
So one of the biggest takeawayshere for projectors is that
rest for you is literallyproductive.
And just like the other types, the projectors also have to
manage their energy by usingtheir authority and, depending
on the different kinds ofauthority that are available to

(18:11):
projectors, that can look verydifferent.
So for projectors with anemotional authority, they are
meant to rest and fill their cupand wait for the invitations
and then, once the invitationcomes, they should allow
themselves to ride theiremotional wave before making the
decision of yes or no.
And if you remember in earlierepisodes when we talked about
the different types with theemotional authority, everybody

(18:34):
with an emotional authority hasto ride the emotional wave and
the emotional wave is unique tothem.
And if you remember, if youpicture a sine wave, which is
that energy line running up anddown over that timeline,
crossing through the center.
Riding your emotional wave meanscoming back to base, means
coming back to neutral andholding that yes or that no over

(18:56):
the course of the time it takesto get back to neutral.
And if that thing isconsistently a yes over the
course of that entire span oftime, then it's safe to say yes
to that thing if it truly doesalign with the projector.
But if it's a no or it's awobbly yes, then it's a not, now
right, or it's a definite no.

(19:17):
And it's really important tounderstand how you operate if
you have emotional authority, because everybody's emotional
wave is different and it'spossible to track that, and
that's again something foranother episode.
But it's really important tounderstand that the emotional
wave is not about your mood.
It is more, actually, it's moreconsistent than that.

(19:42):
It is irrelevant how you'refeeling emotionally, like you
could have a fight with somebodyand still be at the top of your
emotional wave.
So I'm going to have to digdeeper into the emotional
authority.
Maybe that gets an episode allof its own.
But for projectors with anemotional authority, their need
to ride that emotional wave, just like every other type with

(20:02):
the emotional authority it ringshere.
True.
For projectors with a splenicauthority, they are meant to
rest and fill their cup and waitfor the invitations and then,
once the invitations come, theyneed to be tuned into their body
because the spleen shares itswisdom in that flash impulse
that tells you that something isright for you or not.
And oftentimes the splenicpulse is immediate and it's

(20:25):
definite and it does not need tobe sat with and contemplated.
It is literally that flash ofwisdom, that inner knowing, and
the spleen is a fear center, andthat does not mean that the
answer comes in the form of fear, but it's that fear impulse,
that's that whoof yes or no andthe splenic authority.
The person with the splenicauthority needs to understand

(20:45):
how that feels for them, howthat shows up for them, so that
they know what to listen forwhen they're making decisions
and when they're trying tofigure out if things are aligned
with them or they aren't.
Projectors also can have egoprojected authority and for them
, they are meant to rest andfill their cup and wait for the

(21:06):
invitations and then, once theinvitation comes, they will know
whether or not they can takesomething on based on the
resources that are available tothem.
And this can be a challenge ifthere is a self-worth issue,
because resources is not onlythe resources physically in your
environment, it's actually yourpersonal energy, right.
But if you are like most peopleand there is self-worth stuff

(21:29):
that you're working throughsometimes, if you have ego
projected authority, it meansthat you can possibly get stuck
into saying yes to things thatreally aren't a true yes.
You're saying yes for the wrongreasons.
You're saying yes to be liked.
You're saying yes to beaccepted.
You're saying yes for all thewrong reasons, because you're
fighting against low self-worthand that can lead you to burnout

(21:51):
, because you're taking thingson that are not really actually
meant for you.
And then projectors withself-projected authority are
meant to rest and fill their cupand wait for the invitations.
And then, once the invitationcomes, they should literally
speak it aloud and askthemselves questions like is
this what I really want?
Does this make me happy?
Will this thing be good for me?

(22:13):
Does this bring me joy?
Projectors with self-projectedauthority will know where they
stand as their body answersthose questions for them when
they vocalize them by literallyspeaking them out loud.
And the last of the authoritytypes that are available to
projectors is something calledenvironmental authority, and
this is only available withprojectors.
This authority is all aboutdiscernment.

(22:34):
It's about reading theenvironment.
It's about taking in all of thefeelings that are coming in
from everything around you allthe people, the space and doing
a deep dive into all of theinformation that they have,
including tapping into trustedallies and the people around
them for their wisdom, beforemaking a decision about whether
or not something is in alignmentfor them.

(22:54):
And this brings something upthat's actually quite important
when it comes to projectors.
Projectors must have theircircle of people.
They have to find those triedand true, the right or dies, the
ones that are going to be therefor them with their best
interests at heart at all times.
Because they do need thatguidance.

(23:14):
They need that advisory councilaround them to bounce things
off of sometimes so that theycan get that brought back in.
So when a projector waits forthe recognition and the right
opportunities and the righttiming and their energy is
amplified and their ability tolead and guide is unmatched,
they are magnetic.

(23:35):
Projectors are and they need totrust that they are the
powerful resource and that theirintuition and their knowledge
exists to guide the rest of usinto our next phase of growth.
But they must wait for the rightopportunities and they must
operate in alignment and theymust wait for those invitations,
even if they have to step outand manufacture the

(23:58):
opportunities for thoseinvitations to come in by
showing up and being seen.
But the most important thingthat a projector needs to know
is that resting does not makethem lazy.
Resting is self-care.
Resting is productive,especially for projectors,
because they are literally hereto fill their own cup first so

(24:20):
that they can be invited toserve the rest of the world
through their overspill.
Okay, well, that was theprojector episode.
Guys, that's all I have for youthis week.
Thank you so much for listening, and next week we will complete
this series on the five humandesign types by doing a deep
dive into the reflectors.
I hope you tune in.
See you then.
