In this episode, we crack open the world of the rarest human design type - Reflectors. Making up just 1% of the population, Reflectors are absorbing and amplifying the energy around them, mirroring back the potential of all us. Listen in as we dissect the complex nuances of Reflectors, their interactions with others, and the instrumental role they play in our collective consciousness.

Human design is not just a tool, but a blueprint of our true selves that reveals our conditioning. I invite you to explore your own design and peel back the layers of you!

Hey there, my name is Corinne Oflin and you're
listening to the CalmEntrepreneur podcast.
I am a USA Today bestsellingauthor, non-profit executive and
organizing nerd with over 20years experience running my own
small businesses.
I teach entrepreneurs, telepreneurs and small business
owners like you how to organizeyour business, find more time

(00:21):
and deepen your alignmentpractice to experience more calm
and confidence every single day.
If you're looking for thatintersection between practical
business advice and spiritualgoodness, then you're in the
right place.
So sit back, relax and let'sdive into this week's episode of
the Calm Entrepreneur podcast.
Welcome, welcome to the CalmEntrepreneur podcast.

(00:44):
I'm your host, corinne Oflin, and this is episode 31.
Before we dive into this week'sspecific energy type, I wanted
to touch base briefly on somegeneral concepts of human design
, especially for those of youwho may not have caught the
previous episodes in this series, or even if you are a regular
listener.
I invite you to stick with thisoverview, because repetition is

(01:04):
crucial when it comes tolearning, and the more you hear
stuff, the more readily it dropsin right.
For me, human design isarguably the most detailed
self-discovery tool I've evercome across.
Its primary purpose is to guideus in harnessing our energy and
steering our lives towardauthenticity, making decisions

(01:29):
in tune with our true selves andfollowing our life's purpose.
It's highly personal and itunderscores our unique
individuality in ways that Icontinue to find so profound and
so powerful, and forentrepreneurs, this couldn't be
more critical.
It's a call to blaze our owntrails and break away from that

(01:52):
hurt mentality and reclaim ourpower.
It's a call to peel back thelayers of our unique design,
because that is what, inevitably, is going to distance us from
the collective in all the waysthat we're supposed to be
distancing ourselves Like.
This is a good thing.
In human design, we identifyeverybody by five different

(02:14):
types.
Your type is your energysignature, it's your aura.
And despite only having fivetypes in the system, the rest of
the method diligently unravelsour distinct identities.
We can discern our type, ourstrategy, our definition, our
profile, our inner authority, our not self-themes and our

(02:37):
incarnation cross, and these arethe primary elements present in
everybody's chart or the bodygraph in human design, and they
are influenced by the 64 gates, which are then influenced by the
celestial bodies.
This system offers a rich andprofound tool for introspection.
It's a means to delve deep intoyour inner self and, from my

(02:59):
experience, coaching othersbased on their design.
It is apparent that there is somuch enlightenment and
discovery waiting for all of us,and if you have a curiosity
about self-exploration and deepunderstanding and mastering your
energy, then human design isworth entering into.

(03:21):
In this series of episodes,we've been digging into the
different aspects of humandesign, starting with type
strategy and authority.
And if you're eager to knowyour type, visit my website at
Karinoflincom and click on thefree human design chart in the
menu, and remember to have yourbirth information handy, because
you will need that place andtime of birth in order to get an
accurate chart.
So in human design, we havefive energy types and we have

(03:45):
now reviewed all of them.
In previous episodes We've goneover the manifester, the
generator, the manifestinggenerator, the projector, and
this episode is all about thereflector.
The differentiation betweenthese types lies in how they
exchange energy, how they makedecisions and how they use
energy in their daily life.
Each type contributes uniquegifts and strengths to humanity

(04:09):
as a whole, and I'd like toclarify that no type is superior
or more desirable than anothertype.
Each type possesses qualitiesthat make them distinct, and as
we explore the different typesand how they interact, it'll
become evident that we can tapinto the energies of those
around us.
Right, and this perspective, emphasized by my quantum human

(04:33):
design coach, karen Curry Parker, reveals that everyone has
access to the entire humandesign chart, and I'm going to
say that a couple more times.
We all have all the chart.
The differences emerge in theareas of definition versus
openness, and with theBodyGraphs, 9 centers and the 64
gates, the 36 channels, all ofthese things will be either

(04:55):
defined or open for all of us.
So, when examining your chart,it is incorrect to say that you
do or don't have certain areasof the chart.
You have all of the chart, butthe way that you experience the
energies of certain areas of thechart will either be consistent
if they are defined, orvariable if they're open.

(05:19):
And that's really all that thatmeans.
So, to reiterate, we all haveall of the chart.
And with that said, let's diveinto the final type in this
series the reflectors.
So reflectors are the raresttype in human design,
representing only 1% of thepopulation, and what makes them
unique is that they have nocenters defined in their chart.

(05:43):
They will have some gatesdefined, but they will have no
complete channels and thereforeno centers with definition and
because the reflector has allnine centers, open or undefined,
they are what's considered anon-energy being.
They are here to take in theenergy of those around them and
they experience that energy inan amplified way themselves.

(06:05):
And that is the nature of allof our open centers.
Incidentally, whenever we haveopenness in our charts, we take
that energy in from othersaround us and we experience that
energy in an amplified way.
But because reflectors have allof their centers open, this is
something that they experienceall the time, and the purpose of

(06:27):
the reflector is to be themirror for humanity.
It is their job to experiencethe potential of what's possible
for the rest of us and thenthey reflect that potential back
to us so that we can do thosethings in the world.
And because of this, thereflector energy is described as
sampling and resistant.
And it really does make sensewhen you think about it, because

(06:49):
, as a reflector, they aretapping into all the energy
around them.
They're sampling all the energyin the room at all times and
they're reading everything andthey are feeling everything, and
that's sampling right.
But this also allows them toidentify the energies that they
don't want and they can resisttaking those in keeping them

(07:10):
from coming on board becausethey know what doesn't feel good
to them.
So this mix for reflectorsmakes them incredibly empathetic
, right, but with that comesdeep wisdom.
The reflectors' emotional themeis disappointment, and that can
come from a couple of differentdirections.
And first, because thereflector can see the potential

(07:32):
in everyone around them.
They might find themselvesstruggling to stand by and
observe somebody who is notfulfilling their potential, or a
team that is not fulfillingtheir potential, or their
coworkers that are notfulfilling their potential,
right, and the reflector can seethis potential clearly in
everyone, and this can lead todeep disappointment for the

(07:53):
reflector.
And the reflector might alsonot understand the way that
their energy works and theymight become overwhelmed by the
energy around them and mergewith that energy and lose
themselves in the process andlose touch with their own
purpose and their own potential, and they might not even know
that that is happening and thatwill cause them to have a deep

(08:13):
sense of personal disappointment.
And the third source for thereflector to feel disappointment
has to do with their strategy, and it's about not understanding
that they need a lot of time tomake the big decisions.
The reflector's strategy is towait for an entire lunar cycle,
that's 28 days for the moon totransit through all 64 gates in

(08:38):
the body graph.
And this is so that thereflector can experience all
those different energies withinthemselves which will
temporarily give them definitionin all the places that they
don't have definition on aconsistent basis.
And it's important for areflector to pay attention to
the moon transits and how eachof those transits makes them

(08:58):
feel over the course of a 28-daycycle, because once they learn
that pattern and it is a patternright every 28 days that the
moon will move through each ofthe 64 gates.
Once the reflector learns thatpattern, they will learn more
about how they are meant to findwhat is right for them with
confidence.
They will be able to seekalignment for themselves.

(09:20):
And, unlike other types inhuman design, all reflectors
have the same authority, andthat is lunar authority.
When studying human design andlearning about the gates and the
centers, we learn that each hasa high expression and a shadow
expression or an unbalancedexpression, and I find that

(09:41):
studying the shadow is thequickest path toward really
understanding each aspect of ourdesign.
And I think that that's becausethe shadow is something that
more of us experience on aregular basis and it's something
that we can relate to morereadily than the highest
expression, because the highestexpression is the ideal and it's
not something that we can, youknow, hang on to on a regular
basis.

(10:01):
And that is really true in thecase of reflectors, because when
they are experiencing theirunbalanced expression, the
reflector is feeling everythingand taking in everything in the
world around them, and they feellike they need to be the fixer
of all the things.
They need to be the one whodoes the work of solving all

(10:23):
these problems.
But that is not what they'rehere to do.
They are not here to do thework, to fix the things that
they observe right, and so thechallenge of the reflector is to
let go of what needs fixing andinstead reflect to others in
the world the things that theysee, and then trust that the

(10:43):
rest of us will see this andtend to the things that need
solving right, that we will dothe doing, because it is not the
job of the reflector toactually do that work that they
see needs doing.
In their highest expression, the reflector is here to be the
mirror.
They're here to show the restof us our potential and the

(11:07):
places where we are not aligned, and then they need to embody
patience and trust that, bydoing their job of reflecting
everything back to us, that wewill see the places that need
things righted.
So if you are a reflector andyou run your body graph, it may
tell you that you have no innerauthority.

(11:28):
Right, it might actually saynone in the place where you have
inner authority.
And that's because yourauthority comes from experience
in the lunar cycle and when youthink about it, you know after
what I've just explained.
It makes sense because in orderto make decisions, you have to
be able to feel it in your body.
But the only place where you'regoing to be able to feel it is
where you have definition.
And the one thing that givesreflectors definitions on a

(11:52):
consistent basis is the moon asit moves through all 64 gates.
And this is not to say that ourreflector can't make decisions
on day to day things.
That isn't the case.
But when it comes to making thebig life choices, the big
changes, the big decisions, itbehooves the reflector to track
how they're feeling every day,to pay attention to where the

(12:12):
moon is, what gates is that, what phase is the moon is at,
and wait until they come back tothat spot in 28 days to see
where they stand on thatdecision over the course of that
window of time.
And it really is important forthe reflector to follow that
lunar authority, because rushinga decision and choosing
something that is actually notin alignment will cost the

(12:35):
reflector precious energy and,as a non-energy being, the
reflector doesn't really havethat energy to spare.
So, again, the challenge forreflectors is patience, patience
and trusting themselves.
And of all of the types, thereflectors will benefit the most
from daily journaling, right, acheck-in with themselves on how

(12:57):
they feel with their alignmentrelative to whatever it is
they're thinking about doing and, when it comes to the big stuff
, tracking that for a full 28days.
Okay.
So now that we've concluded thereflectors type, I wanted to
kind of revisit the whole reasonfor diving into human design in

(13:20):
the first place.
I think, as entrepreneurs, themost valuable thing that we can
do is to really figure out andfollow our own path, and I think
that that might be the hardestthing for all of us,
entrepreneurs or not.
Just people Like what am Isupposed to be doing?

(13:42):
Where am I supposed to beshowing up?
How am I supposed to be showingup?
How do I know what's inalignment, how do I know that
I'm not going to be left behind, how do I know?
And it's really important alsoto understand that, while you
can learn so much about yourselfthrough discovering your own

(14:03):
human design, the other reallyimportant aspect when learning
about human design is that humandesign is not a box that you
get locked into.
It's not here to tell you whatyou can't do.
It's here to show you differentpaths that are accessible to
you in a way that you might nothave seen before, and I think

(14:27):
it's so valuable to reallyunderstand that.
And very often, when hoppingaround in human design
discussions and forums anddifferent groups, every once in
a while, somebody will saysomething like yeah, no, I'm not
interested in anything likethat.
That's going to box me in, andit's like wait, no, human design
is not a box.

(14:48):
It's not something that you getlocked into at all.
It's an exploration tool and, asKaren Curry Parker, who created
Quantum Human Design, which iswhere I am, a certified coach or
a specialist, I guess she talksabout the body graph being a
curriculum.

(15:08):
It is a blueprint, it is anenergy blueprint for us to
unpack our true selves.
Because we're born in the world.
We come to the world and we arethis one time cosmic event and
we came here for a purpose.
And again, purpose is not whatyou do.

(15:30):
Purpose is who you are, and ourjobs, or I guess our goals,
should be to figure out whatthat is, and human design can
help us find that.
And one of the main things thatwe learn as we start to explore

(15:52):
our human design is ourconditioning.
When you are born as a human onthis earth, you are born into a
world that is going to placeconditioning on top of you, and
then it is the work of us, as westart uncovering that, to peel
those things away, identify theplaces where we have

(16:12):
conditioning, and the chart isour map to that.
It's really something else.
So it's kind of like one ofthose things where you know,
what if I told you that you knowthere was a key to figuring a
lot of stuff out about yourselfand about the world and about
the people in your life?

(16:33):
What if I told you that therewas a key?
Well, there is a key, and humandesign provides so much of that
.
And it's again, it's not aframework, it's not a dividing
tool, it's not fortune telling,it's self-discovery.

(16:53):
It's a framework to help youunravel your conditioning and
embody who you came here to be.
Because we all came here to beour truest self and I really do
I invite you to run your chartand see what you see and find

(17:16):
out things about yourself thatmaybe you didn't know, and start
to unpack all these differentthings and see what resonates
for you.
There's just so much availableto us through human design and
I'm just I can't.
I don't know if you can tell, but I am so completely lit up by
it because it has.
It has resonated every day, every single day.

(17:41):
It's part of my daily practiceto crack open my chart and to do
some reading and learning aboutone gate or two gates and
figure out where the transitsare for myself, and every single
day I come away with somethingnew, something expansive and
something beautiful andsomething so empowering that I

(18:04):
want to share it with everysingle human being out there.
So if you're listening and youare at all inclined to run your
chart, please do so and let meknow.
Let me know what you find out.
Give me an email, find me inour community, share your chart
and let's see what we see.
So again, thank you so much forlistening.

(18:27):
This is all I have for you thisweek.
This concludes my series on thehuman design types.
I'll be going into moredifferent things on human design
over the course of the comingweeks and months different
episodes but I just wanted tothank you all so much for
listening and for all the emailsthat you've sent.
I've heard from so many of youand it's been really cool to

(18:50):
answer your questions and kindof invite you in and demystify
some of the language surroundinghuman design Because, as I've
said many times over the courseof this series, in particular,
when we start digging into humandesign, the language that is
used, the vocabulary of humandesign, can be triggering, for

(19:11):
lack of a better word, becausethere's so much black and white,
there's so much that soundsnegative, that actually isn't
and it's really just a way ofdescribing archetypes.
So, anyway, your emails havebeen fabulous, I've loved the
conversations and I welcome youto continue to reach out again.

(19:35):
So thanks for listening and Iwill see you again next week.
