Welcome, welcome to the CalmEntrepreneur podcast.
(00:46):
I'm your host, corinne Oflin, and this is episode 36.
So today I wanted to talk aboutwhat to do when you're feeling
stuck and something that Ilearned about stillness and
human design in Gate 52.
And so today I want to start bytalking about stillness and how
being still maybe isn'tsomething that is sought out for
(01:10):
its own sake, and maybe beingstill can be purposeful.
So recently, while I wasworking on my own human design
studies and, you know, digginginto the wisdom of the Yi Qing
and the Jean Keys by RichardRudd, there are 64 gates in the
(01:32):
Yi Qing and each of themcorrespond to a place in the
cosmos.
If we break the sky up into 64wedges, each of those is a
different gate in the sky andthey have a different energy.
And you know the ancient YiQing, the Chinese prophecy book,
is where that all comes from.
(01:54):
But it also corresponds to ourpersonal astrology, our needle
chart, and of course that meansit connects to our human design,
because a human design comesfrom a compilation of all of
those things.
The energy that you and Iexperience in our everyday lives
is informed by each of thesegates, and the planets that were
(02:16):
in these gates, much in thesame way as the planets in our
needle chart, are shown to be incertain houses at the moment of
our birth.
So my conscious sun is in gate52, which means that that's a
big part of the energy that Ilive every day.
And in reading about the 52ndgate, I was struck by how much
(02:37):
there is to contemplate here.
In fact, every gate has thisdepth of information come up.
But I've spent a lot of time ongate 52 because it's my
conscious sun and it's made merealize that there's a pattern
here that is available for allof us when we dig into learning
about the gates that are definedand open in our own charts.
(03:00):
In the translation of theEaching by Wilhelm Bains, he
describes the 52nd gate askeeping still mountain and at
its core, this gait's focus ison the problem of achieving a
quiet heart, because it'sdifficult for a person to have a
quiet heart.
But he also talks about howattaining a quiet heart is not
(03:25):
the destination.
It's merely one side of apolarity, one side of a coin,
with movement being the otherside.
Which makes sense, right,Stillness versus movement.
Because in this case the 52ndgait really isn't about
stillness so much as keepingstill until it is time to move,
(03:46):
and it's about the ability tounderstand when it is time to
move, because you've been stilllong enough to feel into the
world and into your body andinto the energy of whatever
situation you've been in.
So the Yi Qing talks about thespine when it describes the
(04:06):
energy of gait 52.
It talks about a man lying onhis back and keeping still, and
it's using that image toillustrate the meaning, because
that's where all of the nervefibers are that make movement
possible in our bodies, right, that's where all the nerves
exist and when all the nervesare still, the restlessness of
(04:28):
the mind disappears and whoeveracts from this place of
stillness makes no mistakes.
So the purpose of stillness isnot only to act, but it's to act
with awareness.
When you read up on the JeanKeys by Richard Rudd, the 52nd
Jean Key is called the stillpoint.
(04:49):
There are three facets, if youwill, of each Jean Key.
One is the city, one is thegift and then there's the shadow
.
And if you've heard me talkabout human design before,
you've heard me share that.
I've discovered for myself thatcontemplating the energies of
all the gates for me is easiestwhen I start by analyzing the
(05:10):
shadow, because the shadow isthe unbalanced expression of an
energy and, as humans, most ofus in our conditioned lives have
more experience with the shadowof a gate.
It's more relatable to usbecause when you start getting
into the gift and the city, thelanguage becomes more esoteric
(05:32):
because it's an energetic.
It's not a state of action,it's a state of contemplation
and it's a state of being.
So in studying the shadow, whatwas interesting to me was that
the shadow nature of someone whois struggling with the energy
(05:52):
of the 52nd gate, so somebodywho is existing in the 52nd gate
shadow, that shows up in ouradrenal system and that's where
the fight or flight center is.
It's our adrenaline source andit's the place we tap in for
more and more and more and moreto go, go, go.
And when you're operating inthe shadow, that's going to show
(06:15):
up as stuckness, which is likecollapsing under the pressure of
all the stress of the world, orrestlessness.
And there was this one line inthe Gene Key's book that I
highlighted, and then Iunderlined it and then I put a
star next to it, and it's thesection that talks about the
repressive nature of the shadowof 52, which is stuckness.
(06:38):
And it says quote once one hassunk into these states, it can
be very difficult to escape.
One of the only means oflifting oneself free of such a
state is to find a way to be ofservice to others.
Now, if you're new to my podcastand you haven't listened to any
(06:59):
other episodes yet, this mightnot be an explosive thing for
you to hear, but for me it waslike the world cracked open and
light shone in on something thatI knew so deeply in my core,
but I didn't know how I knew it.
So, back a few years ago, whenI was in the throes of a deep,
(07:20):
deep burnout, I realized thatthe thing that was missing in my
life was being of service toothers, and I actually said
those words out loud and Iremembered that I needed to be
of service.
I didn't know where thatthought came from.
I didn't know where theunderstanding arrived from,
because I hadn't discoveredhuman design yet, or the gates
(07:41):
or anything like that.
All I knew was that I wasdesperate for a solution,
because all I felt was stuck andhopeless and I couldn't see
through beyond the next moment.
It was really dark.
And so, reading this line inthis book that talks about the
universalness of the each thing,it felt so profound and it kind
(08:06):
of solidified my ability totrust it as a source of
contemplation and of learningabout myself and, in turn, about
all the other people in my lifeand in the world.
And so, digging further intothe shadow of gate 52, the other
side of the shadow, next to therepressive side, which is
stuckness, is the reactive side, which is restlessness, and this
(08:30):
is literally people who areunable to sit still.
They are reacting and again, like stuckness, it's driven by
the adrenal system, but in thecase of the restlessness, the
consistency of it, the frequencyof the movement, causes people
to burn out and have physicaldamage to their bodies over time
, and the remedy forrestlessness is understanding
(08:53):
the fear that is driving it.
And I wonder who out thereneeds to hear that today,
because I was the one who neededto hear the remedy of stuckness
and I can't really articulatehow moving it was to see those
words speaking my truth in a waythat nothing ever had.
(09:15):
And it was really so simple andwhile I had already come to the
need to be of service to otherpeople on my own, discovering
this in my learning about gate52 was a profound validation.
It was so potent and it allowedme to the confidence to stand
firm in the changes that I wasmaking in my life, because I was
(09:39):
making a huge amount of changein my life in order to shift
from that stuckness and thathorrible feeling of being burned
out, and I wasn't sure if whatI was doing was correct for me.
You know, now, more than a yearlater, I know, based on how I
feel, that it was absolutelycorrect for me to make these
changes, and I found a lot ofsteadfastness through learning
(10:01):
about this gate, through myhuman design studies, and so
that was all about the shadow ofgate 52.
Now, remember that gate 52 as awhole is the mountain, which is
the embodiment of stillness.
And, like I said, we have theshadow and then we have the gift
and they have the city.
The gift of the 52nd gate isrestraint, and when you're
(10:26):
understanding the three facetsof any gate, the shadow is the
unbalanced expression and thecity is like the super
enlightenment.
Most people can access the city, but we don't get to stay there
.
It's not something that'sreally sustainable for most of
us.
The gift is really where we canlive if we really do embody and
(10:48):
learn and grow through theshadow, but we're moving through
it in a constant way.
It's not like you graduate andyou never go back.
So I wanted to clarify that foryou.
But so the shadow of Gate 52was the restlessness and the
stuckness.
Right, those are the two sidesof the shadow.
But the gift of the 52nd Gateis restraint, and that goes back
(11:14):
to the original Yi Qing, whichtalks about the man laying on
his back.
And, if you remember, that isnot about stillness for
stillness' sake, but it's aboutstillness for seeking clarity
toward action.
Right, it takes the fear out ofthe equation and brings in
perspective, because when you'restill and you're observing,
(11:35):
you're being the witness, and Ithink that over time, this is
something that we learn to trustand in trusting it we actually
start to seek it when we feeluncertainty or a lack of clarity
.
Because once it starts to serveus, once we know that by
getting still we actually havemore success when we act, we
(11:55):
will seek out that stillnessmore frequently as our daily
source of clarity.
Right, and when you're livingin a place of stillness, you are
not reacting, right, you'redoing the opposite, so that
means that fear is removed fromthe equation.
And then the actions that youdo take, you're taking them from
a position of your own personalpower.
(12:17):
I share a lot about my journeyinto human design on this show
and on my blog and with myfriends and in my mastermind,
because it's been soall-encompassing for me and this
journey that I'm on.
I laugh sometimes when I talkabout it, because I talk about
it like I'm on some magicalmystery tour, because that's
(12:39):
what it feels like.
Sometimes it feels like I foundthe cheat codes to unlock how I
operate in the world, and it'sbrought with it a profound sense
of peace and I feel like, incontemplating my purpose.
Just the fact that I'm havingthis profound experience and I'm
sharing it with you.
It might inspire someone outthere someone out there who's
(13:01):
listening to dig into their owndesign and unlock their
conscious sun gate and unlocktheir own purpose and see
themselves in the descriptionsof the gates, and not only that,
but to find a path through thechallenges that they're living.
So if that's you, if you'rehearing my voice and I'm sharing
(13:24):
my experience about myconscious sun gate 52, the
mountain and it's resonatingwith you, like maybe it's giving
you a little bit of a tingle, right Go to my website and go to
the free human design chart andif you don't already have your
chart, you can run yours thereand identify your conscious sun
and start there, do some reading, get into some contemplations
(13:47):
there, email me, reach out, because it's really it's just
such powerful stuff and that'swhy I'm sharing this with you
today.
So I've been studying the gatesand human design and the gene
keys for a year and a half or sonow and I have yet to find
anything that doesn't fit.
(14:08):
And that's kind of mind blowingto me because it's such an old
collection of these esotericteachings that have been brought
together in a way that ispretty exceptional, and when I
started learning about gate 52and I had this eye opening and
kind of understanding.
I continue to have that inevery single one of my gates.
So we're all unique, right?
(14:31):
Every human being is different, and yet there are these
universals, these universalexperiences, these universal
understandings and universalenergies that impact us in ways
that can be quantified, they canbe described and they can be
understood and shared in a waythat can help us heal.
(14:51):
So if this has any resonance foryou, if you're looking for a
path through your own stucknessor through your own lack of
clarity, or you're seekingsomething to drive you forward
with more purpose, I urge you tocheck out your chart and see
where that takes you.
Okay, so that's all I have foryou this week, and thank you so
(15:14):
much for listening.
I'll catch you next time andremember part of being a calm
entrepreneur is developing thesystems, habits and know-how
that lets you know that you arethe one in the driver's seat for
your business.
You get to choose how you thinkand you get to choose how you
(15:35):
work.
So you got this, my friends.
Thank you for listening.
