Today's Talisman Oracle card "Protection" features an ornate door knocker, symbolizing both our desire for entry into new experiences and our power to set boundaries. I explore how door knockers represent thresholds between our protected inner sanctuaries and the outside world, offering insights on when to open doors and when to maintain boundaries.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hi there and welcome to the Cardcast.
I'm Natasha and I'm so gladyou're here.
Each day I pull an Oracle cardand reflect on what it means in
the context of everyday life.
My hope is to help you usethese cards as simple tools for
awareness and grounding.
So take a deep breath, settlein and let's see what today's

(00:24):
card has to say.
Our card today is from theTalisman Oracle.
Our card is Protection, and ithas one of those old-fashioned
or very expensive and ornatedoor knockers.
The door knocker immediately tome, me symbolizes this desire

(00:47):
for entry, and not only thedesire for entry into something.
Maybe it's a new project, maybeit's a new mindset, maybe it's
letting go of something andmoving into the next space, but
it's that desire for movingthrough a path, moving through a
doorway, into the next thing.

(01:07):
If you're on the other side ofthat door knocker.
People knock because they havedesire for entry, but that's
your opportunity to set aboundary.
So that door is the boundary.
Someone is letting you knowthey would like to cross that
boundary and you have theopportunity to decide if that is
what is right for you and whatis right for the situation.

(01:29):
When I think about a doorknocker too, especially when it
being on the outside of a home.
We're typically shielded in ourhomes, and it's this place of
being sheltered, of havingsanctuary, of having privacy,
and so, again, that could be oneof the boundaries there.

(01:50):
Maybe there's that going intooneself, that feeling sheltered,
that healing energy, theability to essentially recharge
and renew oneself before thenhaving to go outside of that
boundary and back into the restof the world.
Also, the door knocker is alittle bit ominous, and it makes

(02:16):
me think of the gargoyles whoprotect old cathedrals.
Scary things can protect you,right?
That's why they were made tolook so scary, was that?
The purpose was to scare thingsoff, and when I think about the
scary things that protect us,those can be external things, of

(02:37):
course, like a visually scarydoor knocker or a gargoyle, but
they can also be internal things, and the key, though, is to
learn how to leverage them in away that is actually productive
and actually helps us anddoesn't hinder us or hurt
ourselves and others.
An example would be somethingthat can be really scary is when

(03:01):
people get very angry aboutcertain things.
Anger is an incredible emotionthat, when you let it run amok,
it can cause a lot of damage.
It damages relationships, itcan damage your livelihood, but
anger itself is not damaging.
It's how we're expressing it inthe world.

(03:24):
When it comes to this card, though, and the purpose of
something scary being there toprotect you, we have this
emotion because it is signalingsomething to us.
Remember that these things, weare confronted with them because
they're an opportunity for usto do something different.

(03:52):
When I go back to how would Ireflect on this card?
It makes me think of what arethe places that I'm trying to
enter, and then, also, whatboundaries do I need to ensure
are in place, or maybe revisit, when it comes to allowing the
entry of others, with all thedifferent symbols and
perspectives that I talked abouttoday, I would invite you to

(04:12):
think about is there a place inyour life that you are desiring
entry, and what could that looklike?
What could that possibly be?
And then, also, is there aplace where you need to either
revisit boundaries or put up aboundary to protect and shelter

(04:33):
other aspects of your life, whether that's in your physical
life or your mental life, oryour emotional life?
Boundaries are great, and weneed to have them, and sometimes
we need to fortify them, andthen, sometimes, situations
change and we can adapt them.
That's it for today's card.
For more reflections and acloser look at the cards
