US congress woman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez AOC) recently made a video that went viral when she responded to what she deemed to be a "faux apology" from her fellow member of the US congress, Ted Yoho. You can see the video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI4ueUtkRQ0

As I watched this video, it made me realize that although one of the key advantages to AOC’s self advocacy have been her high media profile and the impact that comes with this, it has also left her as a target from those who have long inhabited the establishment.

You can draw parallels between this incident and the workplace in general, which I believe is one of the reasons why Diversity & Inclusion initiatives typically flutter.

Despite the risks associated with self advocacy, the rewards ultimately outweigh the risks.

In this episode, I also go on to provide 10 tips to becoming a better self advocate.
