Caregiving can lead to burnout that sneaks up gradually through skipped meals, forgotten rest, unexpected tears, and diminished patience with those we love most.

• Burnout often brings a profound sense of isolation when others don't understand your reality
• You were never meant to carry the caregiving burden alone
• Caregiving should be a team effort, not an independent responsibility
• You don't need to earn rest or wait until all tasks are completed
• Taking one small step forward is enough when you're overwhelmed
• Remember you're still a complete person beyond your caregiving role
• Allow yourself to feel all emotions including resentment and grief
• Start reclaiming pieces of your peace with small actions

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, it's Amy, and I just want to start this episode
by saying if you're listening tothis right now, there's
probably a good chance thatyou're tired, not just
physically tired, but mentally, emotionally and maybe even
spiritually worn out, becausecaregiving, especially when it's
for someone you deeply love, can be heavy.
So today we're not going totalk about tech or strategy or

(00:26):
lists.
Today's just a conversation.
One caregiver to another, oneheart to another.
Let's talk about burnout.
You know, nobody really warnedyou that caregiving burnout
sneaks up on you.
It's not like one day you'refine and the next day you're not
.
It's more like you startskipping meals, you forgot what

(00:48):
rested feels, like you cry moreeasily or you start snapping at
people.
You lose patience with peopleyou're caring for and then you
beat yourself up for it.
And, worst of all, you feellike no one gets it.
Your co-workers don'tunderstand.
Your friends check in less.
Your family members say thingslike well, just let me know if

(01:10):
you need anything, but you don'teven know what to ask for.
You feel alone in the mostcrowded season of your life.
You weren't meant to carry itall.
I want you to hear me on this, really hear me.
You were never meant to do allthis by yourself.
You're not failing, you're notbroken, you're not selfish for

(01:35):
needing help, you're not weakfor saying I can't do it like
this anymore.
We live in a world thatglorifies independence, but
caregiving isn't a solo sport.
It's a team effort, and if noone's showing up for you, then
maybe today is the day you startbuilding your team.
That could be a friend, asibling, a professional or, yes,

(02:00):
even a piece of tech that takessomething off your plate.
Even one small shift can feellike oxygen when you've been
holding your breath for too long.
Part three you don't need toearn rest.
Here's something I had to learnthe hard way.
You don't need to earn rest.

(02:23):
You don't even have to waituntil every box is checked,
every medication is sorted, every insurance call made, every
meal prep, every doctor updatedbefore you can take a breath.
Sometimes you just need topause, even for five minutes,

(02:43):
and let yourself be human again, because underneath all the
scheduling and logistics andresponsibility, you're still you
and you matter too.
Part 4.
One Step Forward, not the WholePlan.
I know this can feeloverwhelming when you're burned

(03:08):
out.
Even thinking about fixingthings feels like too much.
So don't try to fix everythingtoday.
Just take one small step, that's it.
Maybe it's downloading thecaregiver tech guide we made no
pressure, just info.
Maybe it's texting a friend andsaying, hey, I'm struggling.

(03:28):
Maybe it's finally asking yourparents' doctor if there's a
better option.
One step is enough.
You don't need to figure outthe whole staircase, you just
need to stop standing still atthe bottom Part five.
You're still a person too.
Before I wrap up, I just wantto say this again, because I

(03:53):
know someone needs to hear itYou're still a person, not just
a caregiver, not a decisionmaker, not just the reliable one
.
You are allowed to feel support.
You are allowed to need support.
You are allowed to feelresentment.

(04:13):
You're allowed to grieve thelife you thought you'd be living
right now and, most importantly, you're allowed to start
reclaiming pieces of your peace, even if that starts with
something small, even if thatjust starts with listening to
this podcast.
That's all I have for you today.

(04:33):
I know it wasn't a tips andtricks kind of episode, but
sometimes the most powerfulthing isn't advice, it's being
reminded that you're not alone.
If this helped you, I'd love itif you'd share it with someone
who might need it too A friend,a sibling, someone on their
caregiving journey, and ifyou're ready for some real tools

(04:58):
, ones that actually work, we'vegot a free guide waiting for
you.
You're doing so much and you'redoing better than you think.
Take care of yourself today.
You deserve that much.
I'll talk to you soon.
