Speaker 1 (00:21):
What is up everybody?
Welcome to another episode ofthe Chasing Daylight Podcast.
I will apologize in advance toeverybody trying to get into the
Instagram live.
I'm having a little bit ofissues right now.
It was working and then nowit's not, so my apologies for
(00:42):
that.
Hopefully I can get it goinghere, uh, really quickly.
So, uh, until I get that going.
Uh, everybody, thank you so muchfor tuning in this week's show.
Uh, we got a.
There's a lot to talk about.
There's so much going on.
Uh, dan is back from michiganwith trey joe is in arizona
glass clippings.
He said he may try and hop inwith us.
(01:03):
Uh, jeremy's back after beinggone for a couple weeks.
Welcome back, sir, thank you.
Thank you, uh.
And uh, dan is severely jetlagged.
So, um, we, we had a lot goingon this last week.
I worked probably the most thatI've worked for callaway in
consecutive days in a while andit just was 110 degrees outside.
(01:26):
That's all.
Um, got some golf in and uh, wedid a women's day event.
Shout out cat and uh, cat marksor cat moon.
Yes, sorry, uh for uh makingthat event.
It was.
It was so much fun, I had somuch fun.
It was an absolute blast.
Uh, so, but uh, let's see whatelse we got.
(01:47):
Um, I had a little staycationin vegas.
We can talk about that.
Uh, jeremy's back, uh, oh, andthen the little video I posted
today about something I tweakedin my bag.
We'll get to that.
Uh news, there's a whole bunchof stuff going on the news.
We'll get that in a little bit.
But, dan, let's hear about yourrota, what took place in
michigan, and I'll try and getthe ig working all right, um,
(02:12):
michigan.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
We flew into, um, uh,
grand rapids.
We didn't get there, we didn'tplay any golf the first night,
but the next morning we had atea time at pilgrim's run.
Uh, pilgrim's run was sick.
Um, I never did find out oractually I did find out who
designed it, but the nameescapes me at the moment.
But pilgrims run is is sick.
It's about a half hour outsideof, uh, north of grand rapids.
(02:35):
Um, really tricky greens, like.
I feel like those greens arelike almost like donald ross
inspired, because there's a lotof undulations and some
drop-offs and some run-offs.
Um, but it was an awesomecourse to start with.
It was a great condition.
Um, then the next day we weresupposed to play in that
(02:58):
tournament, um, at the loop, butwhen we got up to ross common,
we decided to go play on the parthree just to screw around,
kill some time, andunfortunately, uh, there was
this hole and unfortunately, trade stepped in it and tweaked
his ankle and it was just afreak thing and it just got to
(03:23):
the point where it was swollenenough, where, you know, we had
to walk 36 holes and on a, on asprained ankle which you can
hardly put any weight on that's.
You know it's damn near hardenough to make a golf swing, let
alone do that and walk 36 holes.
So, um, you know, we talkedabout it and decided ultimately
the best you know, just for himto relax and try to heal up.
(03:45):
There's no point in reallytrying to damage it further.
So that day we just hung out,we went to Arcadia Bluffs, had
some lunch out there, beautifulgolf course, and then the next
day Trey soldiered up and weplayed some golf and he fought
through the pain a little bit,but we played um the arthur
(04:06):
hills masterpiece, or, excuse me, the arthur hills course and,
uh, bay harbor, which is up inboyne city, which is a beautiful
area.
Those golf courses were turnedout to be our favorite of the
trip.
The arthur hills course was wassick, it was like a rolling.
It was like rolling hills, parkland style golf course.
(04:29):
Pristine conditions, fastgreens there were.
Everything was perfect.
There were bent grass greensout there.
So you know, bent grass greensare pretty pretty much perfect
putting surfaces.
And those two courses wereprobably our favorites for sure,
and arguably the best ones thatwe've played yet in Michigan.
So that was a lot of fun to getthat in.
(04:52):
And then the final day we wentand played treetops, played the
RTJ out there, the Robert TrentJones masterpiece out there and
then we played the par 3 golfcourse Same thing, the RTJ was
sick.
Lots of, uh, rolling, rollinghills I think that's just kind
of like.
You know the topography of thatthat area, but it's awesome.
(05:13):
Awesome golf courses, greatelevation, um changes in all
those golf courses up there.
We played a couple of the parthrees were probably, and par
fives were anywhere from 80 tolike 120 feet and drop.
So there was some seriousinnovation but it was.
It was an awesome trip.
It was unfortunate Trey gothurt.
(05:34):
If you have not played golf inMichigan, it is, it is worth it,
it is and it's not veryexpensive.
So yeah, michigan is, michiganis is really really nice,
especially during the summer, ofcourse.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
I didn't know, you
guys were that far North.
You were like as far North asyou can go.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah, we were almost
in the in the upper peninsula.
I mean, we were just right, right outside of, I think.
What is it?
Mackinac, that city?
That's the last city crossbefore you get up to the uh,
upper peninsula.
But it was beautiful, it wasreally really pretty and um
great golf courses up there howwas the drive from the airport
to where you guys went?
Speaker 1 (06:16):
was it good?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
yeah, I mean, it's a
lot of like farmland, open, open
land.
Um, once you get out of grand,uh, grand rapids, it's about a
two and a half hour drive, Ithink, to get up to, uh, where
our first stop was, um, but yeah, it's, it's easy.
I mean, gray walls is my dreamcourse.
Yeah, gray walls looks sickcliff, um, I think that's up in
the up, I believe.
(06:39):
And uh, yeah, that's.
A lot of people have said thatthere's the golf's even even
better up there, so excited forthat.
And yeah, michigan is.
There's so much good golf inthat Michigan and Wisconsin area
, right on that, right on thelake, right there, so got to get
out there.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Was treetops the one
that you were sending pictures
and you could see the lake?
Or was that one of the othersthat you were sending pictures
and you could see the lake?
Speaker 2 (07:05):
or was that uh, one
of the others?
You can see the lake, the oneswe could see the lake off the
side.
That was um, that was bayharbor.
Bay harbor has three nines.
Uh, we played the links and thequarry and, uh, man, those,
that is probably the mostpicturesque course we played.
It was a great.
It was a great golf course.
(07:26):
It had gave me a lot of uh.
Even trey mentioned it, um,there was, he got um a little
bit of uh, I think it was thatcourse he had mentioned.
He got ban and trail vibes fromand I got a little bit of
pacific dune vibes because ofthe holes that are like right on
the water and, um, it's not aslengthy as as uh, as Bannon
(07:49):
dunes is, but just, uh, just, the holes that are on the water
was just very, was very similarto, to um, bannon dunes and it
was uh, it was pretty, it wasbeautiful.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
And you guys got
blessed with some great weather,
yeah yeah, we got real lucky.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Um, I know it was
scorching here, but uh, I think
the first day was a little biton the cooler side.
I think the first day was like64 or something like that, but
other than that, you know, wewere in shorts and shorts and
short sleeves pretty much thewhole time.
The last day was beautiful, itwas like 80.
The one thing I will say aboutBay Harbor that sucked.
(08:30):
Nothing sucked about the course, but they had like an
infestation of these bugs.
They called them like likenymphs or midges or something
like that midges and they werefucking everywhere.
I mean, just, it was like aninfestation all over you.
You're driving, they're flyinginto your eyes, they're hitting
(08:52):
your mouth and shit it was, andit was for like the first five
holes.
So for as beautiful as the golfcourse was, all those pictures
I sent you.
The whole time trey and I werebattling these, fucking these
bugs.
It was gross.
It was gross.
There was literally hundreds ofthem on us and on the golf cart
and we were beating them off ofus.
It was.
It was fucking sick, but a lotof fun beautiful golf course.
(09:15):
These images are awful, mikefrom bgc yeah, see, mike knows,
mike knows, it's fucked up.
It was like pestilence.
That's's how bad.
It was Like a plague.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Sorry, ig is just not
working.
I don't know what the hell isgoing on.
I don't know, I don't get it.
I was just going to try andmake a post here real quick to
let everybody know hey, we're onFacebook and we're on YouTube,
if anybody wants to catch thelive.
So, um, that's just really haveto find it, or you can listen
(09:49):
tomorrow.
So, either way, I don't knowit's because joe's not here,
that's.
I don't know what it is, it's,it's just uh, typically it just
pops up and says go live, andit's just not happening.
So he really clearly there's anissue.
It's a hundred percent Joe'sfault.
A hundred percent, it's Joe'sfault.
So what's?
You're definitely fan, fan ofMichigan golf, right?
(10:12):
Oh, hell, yeah, yeah, we weretalking about it.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
We were talking about
it too, about, like, how much
different it is than most of thegolf that we've played in our
lives.
And then we just startedtalking about getting out to
Wisconsin and how we're going tohave to make cause this is our
third trip now for Trey and Iactually second trip for Trey
and I to Michigan.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
But we keep talking
about, like, do we got to get,
eventually get to Wisconsinbecause we got, you know, kohler
out there, sand lake, geneva, lockley, I mean just the whole
area now is is super, super, super high on my list and, uh,
got to get out there soon Ithink the cool thing about it is
like that, all these pockets ofgolf all over the country, it's
so different, like you're notgoing to see the same style of
(10:59):
courses if you travel, you know, obviously in the same
geographical areas, but likeband, that's kind of its own
thing, southern California, that's kind of its own feel, and
Pacific Northwest and thedesert and Michigan.
That's what's cool is you cango to different parts of the
country and have a completelydifferent type of experience.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Yeah, and what's
really cool about what I noticed
and where we traveled there's alot of land out there.
It's just open land and youcould see where you can have
open, like you can make like anopen link style course and then
eventually take your course intothe trees, because there's lots
of areas where it's just openrolling long grass areas and
(11:41):
then just a little bit furtherback got groves of forest so you
can get like real funky with it.
And that's kind of like how Igot a little bit of uh trails
vibes out there in michigan too, because matt, you know, on
trails, or jeremy too also, yougot you've been out there uh
trails like the.
There's like what three or fourholes that start out on the
(12:04):
sand Hills and then go rightback into the trees, you know
it's.
You can do that in Michigan.
I mean, granted you're not onthe, you're not on.
You know it's not like a Lynxiestyle course, but you can make
yourself a course where you'relike in area with no trees and
then all of a sudden you couldjust carve one right out in the
(12:24):
forest.
That's pretty already planningyour michigan next year's trip
well, I mean, I haven't really,we haven't really planned a trip
next year.
We really want to try to getout to wisconsin.
So, mike, if you're listening, still, I'm going to be uh, I'm
going to be chatting with youhere a lot.
Maybe we get something squaredup and get a trip out there
(12:47):
going.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yeah, we need to make
that happen, yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Dude Aaron Hills
looked incredible.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Got to be Wisco Dan.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Yeah, yeah, aaron.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
I mean, it was
special Special man.
That place is so good, so good.
All right, jeremy, where thehell have you been the last two
weeks?
What's your story?
Speaker 3 (13:09):
I've been in new york
no golf, but we we were in new
jersey, about five minutes frombaltimore.
Also, I wanted to go over therebut I just didn't have time and
I probably wouldn't be welcomeeither.
Yeah, we were just were justhanging out in New York and it
was a family trip.
So no clubs.
But I was surprised how manygolf shops there are in
(13:31):
Manhattan.
Actually I didn't go to any ofthem, but tons of simulator bars
and fitting studios and golf, huge golf stores.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
But yeah, my
daughter's been working at the
Five Iron right by the Iron ironbuilding yeah, really yeah,
that's where she's been working.
That's her been her part-timejob while she's been down there.
That's awesome, yeah so, butshe just had her last day.
She comes comes home sundaynight, so she'll be home for the
summer but she's, she's kind ofyou know loving hitting golf
(14:04):
balls right now.
So I'm going to get her out onthe course because she she
swings the club faster than I do, it's sad to say, but to be to
be young, athletic and limber,as uh you know, there's benefits
to it.
So, all right, gonna get herout on the course.
Uh, we said joe's in arizona,um, for anybody that's tuning in
(14:25):
that hopped on to uh theyoutube that is a whatnot viewer
of joe's and he's been pushingthe show hard on his uh, on his
telecast of the is of hiswhatnot.
Uh, thank you so much.
Uh, you know throw a w in thechat if you're here from whatnot
.
So we know there's a lot ofgreat people on there and that
(14:47):
community is crazy, crazy.
Big Dan, your boy, had hisfirst show the other night.
I know crazy.
That was insane.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Six hours.
He was on for six hours.
I couldn't do it.
He was on for six hours andjust selling like from like all
the clubs that he goes to,selling all the like top 100,
merch, all this.
I'm just like damn Matt, Ididn't realize how much he had.
I mean, I knew he had a bunch.
I know he does a lot did.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
He have a lot of
stuff and I was like, save some
for the other shows.
You were just throwing up toomuch fire right now.
There was so much stuff onthere, some really cool stuff.
I mean I, you know we all kindof don't like repping places we
haven't played.
But you know, when you get somelike brooms, edge hats and you
(15:41):
know there's that pine valleyshirts yeah, just valley, that
was nuts wow and he
Speaker 2 (15:48):
doesn't like national
golf, like stuff?
Speaker 1 (15:51):
no, he doesn't why
doesn't he like pine valley?
I mean, we're gonna, we'regonna have him on the show and
and we'll talk about it, butwhat uh nuts mike, you don't
know what is.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
I think he's being
sarcastic.
He's got to be.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
You have to be
sarcastic, right.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
He's a prankster.
You never know.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah, you never know
that guy.
He's probably behind thelargest WhatNot show on there.
He's funding it.
No, dead serious, oh, okay, well, go to the app store on
your phone, download whatnot.
And it's just how it saysw-h-a-t-n-o-t.
It's ebay, but the auctions arelive and they end right there
(16:38):
and the only people that canpurchase are the people that are
watching.
So the bigger audience you have, the bigger chance you have to
make more money.
Smaller audience you know stuffdoesn't go, but joe's been
doing it for about a month and ahalf now, got himself up to 1.3
000 followers and, uh, hisshows are are rather
entertaining.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
So it's uh, but it's
dangerous you can score some
crazy good deals, though it'sdangerous because there is I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
I don't know how much
, how often you guys are on it,
but like the people who have allthe milwaukee tools, where the
hell are they getting all ofthat?
yeah because that blows me away.
They have like a living roomfull of milwaukee stuff and it's
not cheap.
You know that stuff's not cheap, so I don't know if they're,
(17:32):
but there's like 10 of them onthere and they're all selling
the same stuff and it's it'scrazy.
So if if you're looking forsome impact wrenches or nailers,
yeah, I just wanted to get adrills vacuum.
Yeah, I mean crazy deals, wow.
So, yeah, yeah, but watch forJoe, uh, and bookmark his shows
(17:53):
and all that good stuff thatgoes along with it.
All right, uh.
So I posted a video earliertoday and I forgot to load it to
share it.
But, uh, it was a swing that Itook out at dragon ridge on the
range, my three wood, the clubthat's been hit and miss.
For me it's fantastic off thetee, but I'm struggling with it
off the deck.
(18:13):
I'm a range hero with it, Ismoke it on the range, I get on
the course and it's just not thesame.
Um, so I uh, the day before wewere at legacy, or no?
The following day we were atlegacy and, um, I was hitting,
uh, my seven wood and my fivewood and I was not getting the
(18:36):
distance that I wanted out ofthem, like what the hell?
Why am I not, you know, and Iwas taking into account the
range balls, uh.
So I went and grabbed one ofthe the five woods, a regular
flex five wood, and I washitting it 15 yards further than
mine.
I was like what, what the hell?
So then I go grab a stock sevenwood and same thing, 15 yards
(19:01):
further than mine.
And so I'm like you know, I'mlike julian, what is going on?
And so we grab both of them andlook, and mine were like an
inch shorter than standardlength and uh, I knew I, I I
thought I was playing them halfshort, I didn't realize it was
the full inch.
Uh, so, to answer the question Iput on there, what did I do
(19:22):
after I hit that shot?
Yeah, I pulled the shaft fromthat three wood because it is
proper five wood length and putit in the five wood.
And then pulled the shaft frommy seven wood, went over to the
bin of shafts, found a hazardousshaft that was the length that
I needed, put it in and thenplayed Palm Valley on Sunday but
(19:44):
got to test it at Angel Park onSaturday and oh, my goodness,
what a difference.
What a difference.
Wild, wild, wild.
So even the mayor can fuck upand make mistakes.
So check your club links, people, check your club links.
(20:05):
Make sure if you're losingdistance, check it and see.
So that was a big surprise tome because those clubs I bought,
they came in standard and Iplayed them, but then when I
changed the shafts, I just cuttoo much off.
It happens, mistakes happen.
(20:25):
I'm just going to killInstagram here.
All right, dragon Ridge If youget a chance to get out to
Dragon Ridge, get out to DragonRidge right away, because the
greens Dan remember when weplayed.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
When we played it.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
I remember I remember
most of it, yeah, not all of it
, uh, the the greens hadrecently had like a, a thin
punch uh, what a time punch, Iguess what the terminology is.
Um, and they, you could tellthat they were going to be good
in a couple weeks.
Yeah, they are beyond good.
(21:06):
We played after our fittingsand it was 106 degrees out and
it was late in the afternoon,like 4 or 5 o'clock, and I
figured they were going to belike what happens at National
when the hot sun gets out there.
They were going to be furry andslow, fucking pool table.
They were running 14s easilypool table, smooth and just pure
(21:28):
it was so much fun to put onhaving fast greens like that in
great condition.
Yeah, judy says 14s, they werefast, fast, but so good, you
know.
And Kat, hey, let the creamkeeper know how much we
appreciate this, because wedon't get this out here very
(21:49):
often, especially in the heat, especially, you know a course
like that.
That it's.
You know it's tough to maintaina hillside course like that.
So if you get a chance, go doit, because it is incredible
right now.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Yeah, we need to get
up there.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
It's been, it's been
too long yeah it see if we know
anyone I really, yeah, we know acouple maybe, maybe a few
people, two or three, five, seven maybe.
But yeah, good things happeningout there.
Dragon ridge, all right, um, sowe had a, we had a staycation
(22:26):
and there's nothing that makesyou regret the city you live in
when you go stay downtown in thecity you live in.
I mean, wow, is that a wildplace down on the strip?
It's just so.
It's so crazy.
And you know, we, we uh wentover to the flamingo pool
because the flamingo pool justrevamped it and opened up.
(22:49):
So we, we found out localscould get in free.
So we go down there and, um,yeah, locals get in free.
To the 21 and older bar part ofthe pool.
Uh, brooklyn's, not brooklyn's,not 21 yet.
So, uh, it was a wasted walkbut it was early in the morning
and uh, you know it wasn't a farwalk but we were outdoors in
(23:12):
the morning on in vegas and youknow the freaks go out at night
and they stay out all night anduh, they're walking around in
the morning and zombies, thewalk of shame and the people
coming out of the casinos thatare like.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
They've been enduring
Wild stuff man.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Wild stuff.
Half of them are barefoot, walking in the street and shit.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
And the street
performers are out there at nine
in the morning and it's justlike no one's tipping you nine
in the morning and it's justlike, bro, no one's tipping you
at nine in the morning.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Sorry, Sonic the
Hedgehog no one's getting a
picture.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Yeah, yeah, no shit.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Spider-Man with a it
looked like his kid drew it on a
bag of a paper plate mask.
I'm not paying you to take mypicture, sorry, it's bad and and
the everything smells like weed.
Now, everything everywhere you.
Just you step outside and itjust reeks of weed.
(24:14):
And no disrespect to thosepeople that like marijuana, but
it's, it's just, man, it's likeeverywhere you go, everywhere
you go.
That's how time square was.
I said respect the hustle yeahit no time square was I mean you
can't walk 10 feet withoutgetting asked if I could take
your picture no, it's.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
It felt like I was on
the strip.
I I'm not a huge fan of timesquare.
Really.
I mean it's cool to see, buthow, how quick?
Speaker 1 (24:40):
were you tired of new
y Dude?
Speaker 3 (24:45):
I hate that song so
much man, the people in the
little motorcycle carts thatdrive by with it on.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
it's like I hear that
song one more time.
I swear the camera that doesthe 360 around you, every single
one of them.
Every single one of them justcranking New York.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Did you get to do
like real touristy shit?
Did you get to go to like theworld trade center?
Speaker 3 (25:09):
oh yeah, we went to
world trade center, isn't?
Speaker 1 (25:12):
that crazy.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
That means the I want
to see that massive.
It's so crazy how did you dothis?
9-11 memorial uh no, we justwent outside the bulls.
I know we're gonna, we're gonnago back.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
I mean because that,
that is impressive, yeah, it is.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
We went just below
your way we walked everywhere,
man, we, we walked.
We went to statue of liberty,we went brooklyn bridge, we went
empire state building, we went.
Central park is probably thehighlight.
Like my kids, we just like wewere exhausted.
We just sat on the bench andthe kids just look, climbing the
rocks and the playground islike the best part, but there's
(25:54):
still so much to do there it'scrazy, so much to see well, our
modern art.
The moma, the museum of modernart, was incredible natural
history museum.
Yeah, we did that one toothere's so much.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Yeah, you looked
really you looked really excited
to see.
What is that star?
Speaker 3 (26:10):
dude starring that's
my all-time, like he did the
lego god, it was dude yeah, Iwas like look at jay I didn't
really see.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
This looks like an
art.
I'm sophisticated.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
I guess, that was
awesome.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
My kids bored out of
their mind completely.
They didn't appreciate that wesaw like Dolly paintings and
Picassos and it was physical forme One day they will.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
One day they will.
Yeah, so sorry, mike, he says, don't hate too much, coming back
in August, we look forward toyour return.
Just try not to stay down onthe strip.
There's other places to staythat are much better and less
weirdos.
What do we got here Friday, august 7th, rio Seco, august 8th
(27:01):
, cascada need to fill our fourfellows early.
First come, first serve.
Sorry, joe.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Joe always seems to
be out on the episodes where the
golf invites come in, I meanhe's playing grass clippings and
then TPC Stadium tomorrow, so Imean he's doing.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Fine, I don't feel
bad for him, he's probably
wondering why we're not onInstagram right now.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
Let's see.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
August hey, we don't
have any tournaments that
weekend, so you're oh, wait thatweekend.
So you're yeah, oh wait.
No, the 9th we do, but the 7thand 8th we don't.
So, yeah, Done, let's do it.
We are in good shape right nowand Cascada is getting their
(27:48):
stuff back, so excited for thatone.
All right, so we talked aboutsome new stuff.
Did you guys see that post withJack talking about how Rory
didn't tell him he wasn'tplaying in the tournament?
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
I mean.
So you're, rory.
You just won the Masters, you've completed the Grand Slam,
arguably solidified yourself asone of the top 10 greatest
golfers to play.
Dan, what are you drinking,matt?
I'm glad you survived the rain.
Jeremy, glad you're back.
Oh, look at Greenlee Liquiddeath.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Dead billionaire.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Does he need to call
Jack?
Tell him he's not playing.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
I don't necessarily
think he needs to call Jack, but
it's probably one of thosetournaments where it's kind of
like the unspoken right thing todo yeah especially from Jack,
is getting bitter.
I would agree with that too,Cliff.
You know, maybe Jack's tryingto hype up his tournament and
(29:02):
make it a little bit more thanyou know, maybe just to bring a
little extra drama to it thisweek.
But I don't know.
I think you know, if it was meand I planned on not playing and
it was Jack Sermon, yeah, Iprobably would have been like
giving him a heads up.
Also, too, Rory's a grown man.
He can do whatever the fuck hewants.
Why does he have to bend theknee to Jack Nicklaus?
Speaker 1 (29:27):
Whatever, it didn't
bother you as much as it
bothered some other people.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Yeah, people were
very bothered, for sure.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Oh much as it
bothered some other people.
Yeah, people are very bothered, for sure.
Oh man, like upset, like oh thelack of respect, like and see.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
That's the thing,
though because it's rory, I
think a lot of people he's sucha polarizing guy because a lot
of times rory has said one thingand then turn around and put
his foot in his mouth about thatsame thing.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
You know or backtrack
so I think a lot of people like
to hate rory and this is justanother thing to fucking jab
adam about, you know yep youhear jack uh ripping and ripping
on him about uh on courseinterviews and stuff like that
now he hates on courseinterviews and saying if they
(30:14):
would have done that back in theday they would get punched in
the face and they shouldn't be,doing that and he had some
pretty strong words, for I thinksome of the, some of that new
stuff that they're kind oftrying is jack's not a fan of.
But then I did see him withlike good, good and yeah, those
guys doing putting lessons.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I think it's all in
the timing.
If you're going to interviewsomebody, you might not want to
go live.
If they just go bogey bogey.
You know what I mean.
You can maybe go live ifthey're happy.
I wouldn't even go live withthem if they're in a heater.
If somebody's like 7 or 8 under.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Don't let them be.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Maybe hit them up on
16, 17, if they're up by four or
five.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
Or go somewhere and
find another person.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Or the start of the
round.
Yeah, First few holes.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Thursday, Friday.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
I think the on-course
interview is all about the
timing and where you hitsomebody up at.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
BGC.
Rory is overdoing, is overdoing the right thing, did that
by staying loyal to the tour andthey made him look foolish by
folding to live.
He's done being the poster boyfor the tour.
I can yeah, I think so too uh,cliff saying rory is like prison
mike now, yeah, yeah, hedoesn't.
(31:34):
Uh, I, I he's, I got my grandslam.
I could give two fucks aboutwhat anybody else thinks right
now you don't like it?
Oh well, I'm still gonna go outand do me, so, uh.
And then in the tailor-madeworld, they released their zero
torque putter, and anytimeanything zero torque happens, I
(31:56):
get bombarded with messages Idon't know why you're the zero
torque man now oh, my god, everybody.
Did you see this?
Did you see this?
Did you see this?
So I had a great chat with uhdave from goodwood.
So uh, shout out to him If youhaven't checked out last week's
episode, go back, listen to that.
(32:17):
That was a fantastic interview.
Talked with him about that, itwas a lot of fun and yeah.
So, okay, it's another putter,it's another putter.
That's all it is to it.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Uh-oh, green leaves,
did you you see?
Tanamade also released um thegold and platinum versions of
their qi 35 too.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
I thought it was ugly
.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
To be honest, quite
understand that yeah, I thought
it was like what the that's nota good look, I don't think oh
yeah, cliff, right here.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Did you see the
drivers they released today?
Speaker 2 (32:51):
yeah, they're.
They're in my opinion, in myopinion, respectfully.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
I haven't seen them
yet.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Oh, you haven't seen
drivers oh yeah, yeah, they just
went with different colors goldand platinum.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
They went with the
gold and platinum release and
it's just, it's not it.
Yeah, check it out, jay, yeahit's, uh, it it's vibrant.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Wow, I saw that
earlier.
I saw it and thought oh wow, that's weird, and didn't even
look at it.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
I didn't know it was
Taylor Bay it is vibrant Jeez.
I'll bring this up so everybodycan see it's wild.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Jeez, there we go,
bam.
Do you remember that brandcalled gold?
I think it was goldwyn orsomething like that, but it was
my buddy in high school who'sthe grandson of uh, billy casper
.
He would always get these clubsfrom his grandpa and and one of
them is this set of GoldwynWoods.
They look just like this, butsmall, like solid gold design
that's what I thought when I sawthat yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
I don't remember the
name, but there used to be a
driver back in the day and Iwant to say it was like late 90s
, early 2000s and it had like agoldish bronze finish, but I
forget the name of it too.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Well.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Hanma's got that
breeze line.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
It was made of
aluminum or some shit.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
I thought they were
Hanma's when I skimmed past them
.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Cliff says you have
to have the whole outfit to get
those Like the dudes that bepretty.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Yes, the gold statue
guy.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
Like the dudes.
That pretty be yo be statue.
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
I'm sorry, cliff I
think we know what he's saying
yeah, yeah, that's, uh, that's aflavor flay of driver right
there yeah, yeah, looks likedrive austin powers character
would use.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Yeah, it's, it's,
yeah, it's gold member yeah,
it's it's, yeah, it's goldmember yeah, it's gold so, and
then let me uh, since we'retalking new drivers, let me uh,
bring up an image of the newcallaway driver.
It's not a new driver, it'sjust a new colorway.
(35:12):
They do this with the militaryevery now and then, and this
latest version is actuallypretty sick looking, so let me
just pop this real quick and addimage.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Yeah that's the
sandstorm.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
That's right, yeah,
the sandstorm yeah, it's not bad
, and it's got a shaft thatmatches it and a grip that
matches it and a head cover thatmatches it.
So is it just the bottom?
Yeah, and then it's got thematte finish on the top.
It's got the black matte on thetop and it's got the black
matte on the top and it's juston that, yeah, and then the
(35:56):
triple diamond max.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Yeah, yeah, matt.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Yeah, we do.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Oh, I'm going to have
to try it.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
And the triple
diamond tour draw.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
I'm going to have to
try the triple diamond max Might
have to upgrade the driver.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
It's pretty darn good
.
It's pretty darn good, it'spretty darn good.
Um, oh, this was uh, this wasthe uh women's day event.
That cat put on uh snga women'sday event out at las vegas
national.
This was an absolute blast.
I I wasn't sure what was goingto happen with this.
I hadn't done one of thesebefore.
But uh, they this is the firsttime they had a fitting tent and
we were basically there just toexplain what fitting is for
those uh players that showed upthat that didn't know, and we
(36:45):
gave them some clubs to hit andkind of showed them what the
fitting process was like.
It was a huge success.
We had there were six differentstations.
We'd spend 15, 20 minutes withthe ladies and they'd go over
the next station.
Uh, trey was out there helping,uh, big matt was out there, a
couple of the other club prosand fitters in town.
(37:06):
They had a lesson thing, theyhad a chipping thing, they had a
putting thing, they had a golf101 thing, kenny ubala was out
there for S and GA and uh, therewas a ton of ladies and uh,
there's some, some ladies thatcan play golf, that uh are just
new to the game.
So it's exciting that you knowthings like this and, like I
(37:26):
said, hat off to cat for puttingthat together and it being
wildly successful.
So be uh.
Follow the SNGA for moreinformation about events like
this coming up in the future.
Uh-oh, sandstorm Lawsuit comingfrom a famous DJ with a song
called.
That oh God.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
If you have that
driver, that's your entrance.
Music to the T-Box.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Famous plug for the
company man.
Hey, a TaylorM may driver wentfirst, right, we shared ah, okay
, what do we got next?
Speaker 3 (38:02):
I got an equipment
question.
Okay, then maybe eric will havean opinion.
And you guys, what's with themini drivers thing?
Like there's a lot of prosusing the mini drivers and is
that I mean, and it's notreplacing their driver and I
don't know that a lot of themare hitting them off the deck?
Maybe they are, but it feelslike it's sort of a redundant
(38:27):
club in my opinion.
But what do you guys thinkabout that, the phenomenon that
is a mini driver?
Speaker 1 (38:33):
greenly.
You want to chime in juju?
You want to chime in anybodyelse want uh it for?
For what I have seen, it's forpeople that struggle with the
driver.
It's a, you know it's a littlebit lofted, it's a little bit
smaller, a little bit moreforgiving, not as long uh.
So it's just something to helpyou get it in the fairway.
(38:54):
You know we've been Julian andI have been messing around with
getting numbers on shorterdriver shaft lengths and the
consistency of hitting thefairway goes through the roof
when you play a shorter driver.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
It just seems like
3-wood would be the club, but I
don't have enough space toanswer that.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
It cuts me off at a
certain number of letters what's
false.
What's false?
Uh, let's see, I can shape itto draw instead of standard fade
.
Also, they hit the driver toofar.
That's what we've seen.
That's what we've seen.
You know, it's an easier club,I think, for players to get it
(39:42):
in the fairway.
Pros, they're playing itbecause, like Cliff said, they
hit it too far and it'ssomething that's a little bit
more reliable.
I mean, not everybody's hittingit perfectly on tour, so you
know everybody's gonna haveissues, but it's.
I mean, you're, they're lookingfor numbers, they, they want a
window, they want a number, theywant a spin and they're finding
(40:06):
that with that club for whatthey want.
False again, stop it.
What am I falsing?
Tell me what I'm falsing.
I'm not a tour guy, I'm just alocal fitter.
False again, stop it.
What am I falsing?
Tell me what I'm falsing.
I'm not a tour guy.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
I'm just a local
fitter.
They do look good though, Do I?
Speaker 2 (40:22):
have to send you
another invite.
I think it's just a gimmickpersonally, just something to
sell money, just to sell, makemore money.
I can't really see a benefit.
I mean I could see.
Mean I could see, maybe, likeyou said, matt with getting a
little bit more control with it.
Yeah, I do see some pros usingit.
Um, maybe that's just becausecore setup, I don't know.
(40:46):
But I don't know, man, I justdon't buy the mini drivers.
I think it's just another.
I think it's like a snake oilthing it's a fad.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
It just seems like
there's more loading the loading
the top of the bag instead ofloading the bottom of the bag,
sort of yeah, maybe all right, greenlee, in like five words
tell me what I'm falls up.
I'm curious we'll get a text oh, he's probably furious right
now.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
Uh, all right.
So then, uh, yesterday we hadthe golf's longest day, which
was the uh, final day ofqualifying.
It is player dependent, it'scourse management dependent.
That's what I said.
Oh, goodness gracious Cliff man.
(41:42):
Equipment changes over time.
Think of Seven Woods becomingmore common.
Oh, absolutely, we're fittingmore players to Seven and Nine
Woods than ever before.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
Ever, before.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
All right.
So the US Open qual final daywas uh monday?
Golf's longest day.
If you're on golf channel, yousaw all of it.
Uh.
What was great is we have somebig names that are not exempt
anymore into these events, andso max homer, ricky fowler, zach
blair was in one, he gotthrough.
Mark leishman, live player, gotthrough.
Um, who was, uh, cameron young,uh he got through.
(42:17):
I mean guys that you're likesurprised that they're wow these
guys.
Webb simpson tried qualifying, didn't get through.
Former winner of the us open.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Yeah just to touch on
this real quick.
While we're talking about maxhoma, I've read today that him
and his caddy are done.
That's why he carried his ownbag.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
I don't know if he
wants to do that or not.
They separated their ways.
At the end of Memorial he hadno caddy.
Maybe that's a good thing forhim.
Speaker 3 (42:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
Max Homa, if you're
listening, I'll carry your bag,
bro.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Dan is for hire.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
Yeah, let me know.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
So cowboy LA boys.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
Let me know yeah, we
got a lot in common, Max.
A lot in common, Max.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
So how about the
Mason Howell 17-year-old shoots
63-63 to get in?
He'll be a freshman in Georgiain two years.
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
Bogey-free 63s Yep.
Yeah, 36 holes, no bogey, yeah, max.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
Homa and Ricky Fowler
are both in the playoff.
And then Max Homa had a putt tobe the first alternate and just
weakly tried to tap it in andit didn't go in.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Force banked it?
Speaker 1 (43:39):
Yeah, but the shot,
did you see the shot that Zach
Blair hit in the playoff?
Speaker 2 (43:46):
Wow that was
beautiful.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Stuck at the two
inches.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
You know what's not
beautiful?
That putting grip and thatputting stroke that Zach Blair
has right now, and they weretalking the reverse.
Fuck, oh my God, that's like, that's like, borderline,
borderline.
Worse than Willie Z.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
Here's Eric.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Here's Eric's
explanation.
I'm going to call Matt tomorrowand get a different opinion
across just an opinion, but Ihave facts to back it up.
I'm high.
I'm going to sleep Glad.
A different opinion across justan opinion, but I have facts to
back it up.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
I'm high, I'm going
to sleep glad you enjoyed
michigan, dan.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
Oh yeah, I'll be.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
I'll be looking
forward to that phone call I
would love to go watch some ofthose guys play in that
qualifier.
I think it'd be fun oh,absolutely all right.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
speaking of
qualifiers, are you fucks gonna
do it?
Some of those guys play in thatqualifier.
I think it'd be fun.
Oh, absolutely.
Speaking of qualifiers, are youfucks going to do it?
Look at him, he won't do it.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
Honestly, we should
just do it, you should just do
it, yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
How about we find
this is what we should do?
Jay, go find a sick ass course, like one that's private, one
that we'll never get to play, and go fucking do it there have
a couple connections up thereand that way if we do make it
bonus, if we don't, we say weget to knock out a top 100
course, or something like in laor san diego or something, yeah
(45:14):
I'm sure there's some somewhereyeah, we should do it telling
you into that, telling you youneed to do it because it's at,
it's at troon this
Speaker 1 (45:26):
year, the mid-am.
We're talking about thequalifying to get into the
mid-am.
So, uh, the one in for nevadais at hidden valley up in the
reno area and uh, if you, youknow, uh, metal, you get to go
to the mid-am which is in troon.
So I don't know the othercourse, because they always play
(45:47):
two courses.
They play one private, onepublic, um, for the mid-am and
uh, so I don't know what theother course, probably greyhawk,
I'm assuming, um, because ithosts a lot of event out there,
uh, but you know you don't haveto go far.
I mean reno, you know, and andand phoenix, not not that far
where you know.
(46:07):
When I went with andrew, we hadto go to nantucket, which is
not a short flight.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
True Country Club and
True North.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
Oh, there you go.
That'd be fun.
Yeah, it would be fun, and itwould be hot and you'd have an
advantage because you're used tothe heat.
So I'm telling you, you guys, especially Dan no disrespect to
you, jeremy, but dan, I'm on aheater heater, right now like uh
, I will say this my heater gotshut off in michigan oh no what
(46:44):
happened?
Oh yeah we didn't even talkabout how well, you played or
forgot to pay the bill.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
No, yeah, like I
don't know man, like I just hit
some.
I played some awful golf inmichigan, awful um, I mean I I
come, I got off the t somewhatdecent, but everything else was
just poop.
So that heater, that heatermight be, that heater might be
out, it was just traveling.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
I'm sure now that
you're back home you'll tear it
up again but was that?
Speaker 1 (47:10):
was that sea level
golf out?
There are you at elevation.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
No, I think we're.
I don't know.
We were right on the lake, butI don't know what the elevation
is in Michigan.
Speaker 1 (47:23):
It's a lake too, and
it's a little high.
Well, yeah, that's true, that'strue.
There's lakes in the mountains.
You dumbass.
There's a little elevation like577 feet marginally elevated,
basically sea level, puttinggrips like Zach Blair to scream
(47:49):
I'm in a dark place, puttingright now and I'm willing to try
anything that's how Tony Finauis.
Speaker 3 (47:54):
I don't know if
something's going on in Utah,
but did you see him hit thatputt with one?
Speaker 4 (47:57):
hand One hand.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
And it was probably
the best putting stroke he's
made in five years.
Speaker 3 (48:03):
He's been fighting
that grip for years.
It's hard to watch.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
Yeah, it's not an
easy thing to do.
No, but he should seriouslycontact Goodwood putters because
they make fantastic sticks andI've been man since, since Tim
Float and I had a conversationabout putting set up and rhythm
and tempo and me stopping myputting stroke from going, you
(48:31):
know, four feet past the ball atimpact.
Uh, in conjunction with a newputter.
I am going to give it somecredit because it's amazing.
Uh, I have been on a heaterwith flat stick, so I am, I am
incredibly excited about that.
This is I can't hit a bladeputter to save my life.
(48:53):
It's not for everybody.
Some people like it, somepeople hate it.
Love them, but they don't loveme.
That's that screams golf.
That screams golf.
Uh, charlie wood was in the?
Uh, in the news.
He won a prestigious juniorgolfing tournament to get his
first win.
(49:14):
Uh, so congrats to him for that.
That happened last week.
Uh, what's the putter coach yousaid?
Uh, tim flote, you probablyknow him agreeing.
Well, maybe in in the works.
Uh, so he just helped me withsome setup stuff.
I've also been working with uh,well, not working with, but
taking some advice from prestoncombs, who he's on instagram as
(49:35):
well an amazing putting.
All he does is work with puttingso uh with tim's uh, advice and
assistance and some of thestuff that, uh, I have learned
from preston.
Yeah, putting is startingstarting to be really really
good.
I beat julian and julian's areally good putter and I I beat
him at on the sienna green and Iwas like I told.
(49:57):
I said I'm sorry, julian, I'mtalking shit about this because
you know it does this doesn'thappen very often.
So uh yeah, so I'm very happywith how the plastic is rolling
right now.
All right, then some fellernamed Scotty Scheffler did
(50:18):
something over the weekend Wentback-to-back at Memorial at
Jack's Place Really loves themilkshakes out there and got
himself another W.
It was his third win of theseason.
It was his 16th win overallwith three majors.
He is on a heater.
(50:39):
It's hilarious every time hewins.
I keep seeing the PhilMickelson tweet about doubtful
Scottie will win before theRyder Cup.
Well, I don't see Scottiewinning before the Ryder Cup.
Well, he's bested that threetimes now.
So congrats, phil, for pokingthe bear.
Sometimes you don't poke thebear, but I'm kind of glad he
(51:04):
did because it's fun watchinghim play golf right now.
That is an incredibly toughcourse.
It was crazy conditions withthe weather, but wow, dude's on
a heater here.
Oh, do you?
Let's see.
You guys can probably.
Well, don't look at the bottomof the screen if you can see it.
I was curious if you guys couldname when his first win was
(51:30):
2021?
.
Scotty Scheffler's first, firstpg.
Scotty sheffler's first pgatour win.
Speaker 3 (51:40):
Yeah, it's like no,
I'm guessing 2021, because I
think he's won 15 since 22 uh,phoenix open was his first win
