I was in Hawaii with the family, Got to play an incredible golf
(03:43):
course kind of In incredibleshape no, no, no, no.
Dan (03:50):
Royal Hawaiian.
Matt (03:51):
Yeah, absolutely
incredible views.
Joe and Jeremy were at ShadowCreek, played it under the
lights, so we'll hear all aboutthat.
Dan is just racking upvictories left and right, had
two more wins over the weekendand, uh, we had a first time
winner on the pga tour andaldridge pot guider, however you
(04:14):
want to say his name.
Um, harry hall today.
Uh, finished second in hisqualifier so he qualified for
the open, so he will be be atRoyal.
Uh, royal, rush right, yep.
Um, so congrats to him.
Uh, the opens coming up the17th through the 20th.
Uh, we got the John Deereclassic this week.
All right, trivia question whoknows who the defending champion
(04:37):
is of last year's John Deereclassic?
Joe (04:40):
JT Poston.
That's two years.
That's two years.
That's two years ago.
Matt (04:44):
Sorry, no, I don't
remember no I do remember jt
poston's win, though that wassick.
Joe (04:55):
I like that.
Dan (04:55):
It was davis thompson the
founder, the founder of wendy's.
Joe (05:02):
Yeah, yeah, that's his
granddad, father to wendy father
to wendy and founder of wendy'syeah, so uh isn't it, thomas
right?
Dan (05:14):
yes, yes, it's dave thomas,
not dave thompson oh my god, I
think Joe did that last year too.
Matt (05:25):
Congrats to all the people
.
Harry is up to number 73 andthe GR is highest ranking ever,
so congrats to him for that.
He's also number 25 on theRyder Cup list.
He's got a chance.
What was that?
That's pretty funny man.
That's pretty a chance.
He's got a chance.
What was that?
Joe (05:45):
That's pretty funny, man,
I'm just, that's pretty fucking
funny.
Matt (05:53):
How much have you had to
drink already today?
Joe (05:55):
Not much, honestly, okay,
not much Just checking.
Matt (05:59):
Hey.
So last time Shannon from 13Brewing left a comment, I
totally skipped over it.
We're going to jump to thisearly, that way we don't forget
about it.
Before we even hopped on, hewent on the channel and left a
couple questions for us.
He said hey guys, I already letJoe in on this.
(06:20):
I have a couple loadedquestions for the show, just in
case I have to fall in beforethe show.
He's out in omaha, so uh, let'ssee, there it is.
Uh one if each of you had anendless supply of money and
could buy any golf course, whichwould it be and why that?
Joe (06:42):
that is, that is a loaded
question yeah, I told what I
told him because I already gavehim like answers.
But I mean, it's kind of like a, it's kind of a cheat, right,
like so banded of course, butthere's multiple golf courses
out there, so it's like I wouldbuy banded 100 and if it's, and
if it's buying the OG, I don'tknow.
(07:04):
But you know that's what Iwould do and I don't know if
that's a solid answer, butthat's what I do.
Matt (07:13):
I'm surprised you didn't
go with like a Donald Ross or
Mike Strand's course.
Joe (07:17):
Well, my whole thinking was
is if I buy a band in a golf, a
resort and have a mall and Ihave multiple courses to play,
if, if it's one course, I thinkit's by any golf course.
Matt (07:37):
Which would it be, and why
so I'm going one golf course I.
Joe (07:41):
I mean I'd probably go
southern pines I know I top that
place all the time and uh, thatis 100 percent.
A golf course I could playevery single day of my life and
be 100 stoked every day allright, jeremy or trails, sorry,
uh I'm going cypress point and Igoing to make sure I'm the only
(08:03):
member.
Matt (08:07):
Thanks.
Jeremy (08:08):
And then, well, you guys
.
No existing members.
We're starting from scratch andI'm going to play that course
every day.
Joe (08:13):
But also you're going sight
unseen on this one.
You've never played there, yeah.
Jeremy (08:18):
The vibes are high on
that part of the country.
Matt (08:22):
I would have no issue
doing that.
Dan (08:26):
It's a nice piece of
property that's for sure.
Jeremy (08:27):
If you follow cdp,
you're a member of cypress point
that's.
Matt (08:31):
That's how we can get to
10 000 followers real fast there
we go.
Joe (08:34):
Yeah, real quick real quick
.
Matt (08:37):
Three cypress point
memberships for following the
show.
Yeah, we're capping at 10 000,though.
So that's it, dan.
What about you?
What would you do?
Dan (08:48):
um, well, initially I was
thinking trails, after you've
narrowed it down to one course.
But joe, already nickel that.
And then my mind went straightto cypress point and jeremy hit
that.
So, um, I'm gonna go pastatempo.
Yeah, I like that, it's.
It's just, it's amazinggreatest back nine ever created
(09:09):
and allison mckenzie is probablyprobably for me uh, top three
course designers wow I'm shockedI'm shocked, not at joe's, but
Jeremy and Dan.
Matt (09:24):
I mean, how could you not
buy Augusta?
Joe (09:28):
You never played it.
And it's not in good shape allyear.
Jeremy (09:31):
You can play Augusta
anytime you want.
That's true, the thing aboutAugusta is you gotta remember.
Dan (09:39):
You probably don't really
get to play it in the best shape
of the world, you know, onlyfor like a month or two.
Other than that, it's fuckingclosed all the time for me.
Matt (09:46):
Yeah, that's.
Dan (09:47):
I mean that's true, but
it's like but owning Augusta,
but that's yeah, I mean, if youwere just to say to own Augusta,
you know that's where that's ifyou're going into the perks of
everything, yeah, that's that'sthe choice.
Joe (10:09):
Well, that's that's the
choice.
Matt (10:09):
well, you gotta look at
that side of it too.
You can't not look at the, yeah, but I look at it in the aspect
of where do I, where would Iwant to play every day?
Dan (10:14):
that's how I look at it.
Matt (10:15):
Oh, I would look at it as
income income and and I get to
play there, I yeah see, that'smy first thought.
Joe (10:20):
When I thought of of that
question, I was like, where
would I want to?
Matt (10:23):
play every day.
He does say you know, you haveunlimited income.
So income's not really yeah.
Well, what did he say?
How did he phrase it?
Endless supply of money, allright.
So money's not necessarily onthe table as far as income goes,
then.
Joe (10:38):
Yeah, See, I look at it
like where would I want to play
every day?
That at it like where would Iwant to play every day.
Matt (10:44):
that's how I look at that
question.
I may, I may have to go with agolf course in hawaii that's not
royal hawaiian and andprinceville makai, because I
absolutely loved being on thatproperty, because, yeah, that's
a nice spot, well, and I like, and I like that island too, I
it's so much better than theother ones.
Big pokey guy over here Ididn't really eat any hawaiian,
(11:08):
all right, uh.
So yeah, another question um,take four clubs to play five,
including the putter.
What are they and why?
Joe (11:20):
I think I told him.
I think I told him I can'tremember.
I think I told him driver four.
I think I told him driver.
I can't remember what else Iknow.
I said seven, iron.
I said 60 and putter.
Matt (11:39):
Yeah, I would go driver
seven wood, 7 iron 50 got any 7
woods no, just mine, jeremydriver 5, 9, 54 putter.
Dan (12:03):
Dan driver 4 putter dan uh
driver four seven iron 58 butter
nice I like it.
Joe (12:16):
I mean, look, I think I
said, I think I said like driver
three iron 760, because Ianswered before he said putters
included but, so I would I takethe driver because you know,
obviously long off the tee youneed need something like that,
uh seven
Matt (12:34):
wood because it's kind of
versatile.
Uh, I'm not long so, uh, I canhit that high seven wood
anywhere from 175 to five.
And then the seven iron fillsthat gap and I can, you know, I
can knock down a seven iron, uh,with the best of them, and then
50, I probably go 54 over the50, because the 54, I can,
(12:57):
that's like anywhere from 80 andin.
So that would be me All right.
Uh, then he else said here, keep on keeping on mint, love
the show.
Thank you so much.
If anybody else has anyquestions, please by all means
throw them in the chat.
(13:17):
They're there.
Uh, rob had nice chat, nicehats tonight and then he thought
, for sure Wolf Creek would be.
I would buy Wolf Creek to shutit down.
You are one of those guys.
You're one of those guys.
Sorry, Wolf Creek is closed.
You may go next door to likewe're building houses.
Joe (13:39):
We're going to build houses
here.
Fuck off.
Matt (13:42):
Oh, you know what the
perfect answer is?
And and we all fucked up, prim.
Joe (13:52):
I could play Prim, every
day I could.
Matt (13:53):
Prim.
Yeah, let's resurrect PrimTaurus in the chat.
Good evening, jen Shadow, underthe lights looked epic.
Yeah, let's lead into that, let's lead into that, let's lead
into that.
So first off, uh, jeremy, joe,my first question where does it
rank for you in the Vegas golfcourses Now?
Dan (14:16):
Just just not our point
system not anything like that.
Matt (14:20):
Just where does it rank
for you?
Joe (14:23):
One One.
Matt (14:28):
One for me, one for me too
.
Joe (14:29):
Good answer, good answer.
All right, I got into a littlelittle debate with jared jared
deanda if you guys don't knowhim, go follow him.
Um.
And uh, I sent him some ballmarkers, which you, if you
followed chasing daylightpodcast on instagram, you saw
that, um, and I told him I couldsee how it's worth the money,
(14:51):
right, um?
And he said no, there's no wayI would ever spend that much
money on a golf course.
And I said I could see how it'sworth that.
I would never do that, right,I'd never spend that amount of
money on a golf course to playgolf.
But I can see how it is worththat amount of money.
And maybe we got specialtreatment.
(15:12):
You know, maybe it was a littlefairy dust.
You know, we got to play underthe lights, which a lot of
people have never done that anda lot of people will never get
to do that and a lot of peoplewill never get to do that, um,
but it was.
It was pretty sick service,impeccable.
(15:32):
Um, the experience driving uplocker room I mean the locker
room just shakes you up a littlereal quick you know it's,
that's very special and just allof that, and I would never pay
that amount of money to playgolf.
But I can see how people wouldpay that amount of money to play
(15:55):
golf because it's sick, it'svery dope, it's fucking sick.
Yeah, it is, it's very dope.
And the putts you hit they justkeep crawling, they keep
crawling towards the hole.
They never-ending putts, youknow.
Matt (16:11):
I sent Jeremy a message.
I said I need a live reactionafter you putt for the first
time on number one.
I didn't get it.
Joe (16:21):
I have a video of it I
think.
Jeremy (16:23):
I think we both ran it
by about five or six feet.
Yeah, but it was dude.
That's the nicest course I'vebeen on, for sure it's perfect.
Granted, it was at night.
It's different.
It's hard to explain at nightbecause it felt so surreal.
You already can't see otherholes from the hole you're on.
(16:46):
Yeah, but it's like.
It's like a black wall is upjust outside the tree line, is
it?
Is it lit?
Matt (16:54):
well, I mean, is it it's?
Joe (16:56):
oh, incredible, incredible
yeah, there's never.
Jeremy (17:01):
I never had an issue
where I was, the ball was in my
shadow, it was I.
I thought that was going to bea problem because I've done that
at a range before and it sucks.
Never had that issue.
It was amazing, though, dude.
The caddy was phenomenal.
The reads he was giving waswere nuts.
Yeah, I would love to see inthe all in the daytime, but
getting to play the back ninetwice basically, yeah, second
(17:25):
nine, second time barefoot, jeremy's first time barefoot.
Joe (17:33):
Jeremy on hole, I think it
was.
Matt (17:36):
You were barefoot at the
shorties.
Jeremy (17:41):
No I was just worried
about hobbling along.
Joe (17:44):
Yeah, I knew you couldn't
walk very good I couldn't walk
very well either, but on 11 Ithink I hit my drive and then.
And then jeremy said somethinglike oh, this is soul golf.
And I was like oh, why'd youfucking say that?
And I took my shoes offinstantly, right, and I swear to
100%, it elevated theexperience, no question.
Jeremy (18:08):
Except on the path to 17
green, that wasn't very
elevated.
Matt (18:12):
Yeah, that didn't look
elevated at all.
Joe (18:14):
That looked like Joe at the
airport, I think.
Two holes later I was likeJeremy, you ever play barefoot,
he goes.
No, I was like well, well, now's the time, because it was
our second nine, we alreadyplayed the course.
So our second lap around theback nine and jeremy took his
shoes off for the first time ona golf course.
That turf feels amazing it wasgreat it was like a massage the
(18:40):
whole time it was incrediblewhat'd you?
Matt (18:45):
what'd you shoot, jeremy?
Jeremy (18:47):
I shot one over on the
front and then I think probably
I didn't.
It kind of like started outwell and then didn't end as well
, probably like 40 on the backjoe, did you even keep scoring?
Matt (19:01):
probably I haven't.
Joe (19:02):
I have no idea.
There was one point where Iasked jeremy I was like I'm not
keeping score and I said are you?
He said yeah, it's like I haveno idea where I'm at right now.
He read, jeremy said well, hisquote was I just want to be able
to post Shadow Creek in my gin.
So yeah, but no, I have no idea.
(19:25):
I know I like doubled, bogeyed, tripled, tripled, and then I
had some parsed, you know andthat's also the excitement.
Yeah, put the tips.
Matt (19:41):
That one over on the front
is impressive, jack, yeah.
Jeremy (19:46):
I have like three or
four birdies.
It went downhill fast though.
Joe (19:51):
Yeah, and I told Jeremy.
I was like hey, you know, Idon't care, I'm playing where
you're playing, I'm not going toleave you alone back here in
the trenches.
I'll, I'll get in the trenchestrenches with you.
And uh, it was.
I don't even care what I shot.
Honestly, I could care lessthat.
That experience was incredible.
(20:14):
I'm so happy I finally got todo it.
Matt (20:17):
Much, much props to cliff.
Yeah, I give him some love forgetting you guys out there.
Jeremy (20:24):
I wish I kept saying
like it's the best golf
experience he's ever had.
Like he was I mean even himplaying before and being to
those crazy places he's been hewas floored how special it was
playing at night honestly, Iwill say like I literally felt
like we went on a golf trip.
Joe (20:42):
I felt like we went on a
golf trip, and that's what we
yeah, that's what we were saying.
On the way back, I was like Ifeel like I went on a golf trip
for a day and that's why it'slike I can see how it's.
I could, yeah, I could see howit's worth that, because golf
trips are so special for us,right, and it felt like that at
(21:05):
the end of the night we were inthe, we were in the limo, but it
was like an escalade and, uh, Iwas like that felt like a golf
trip and that's that feelingthat we like I love, right, I
love, I love the golf tripfeeling.
And it felt like that on theway home, which was so cool, and
we were in, we were in Vegas, Iwas at home Short golf trip.
Matt (21:30):
Well, I, I now that all
four of us have played it and
not just seen it.
Uh, I seriously think Southernhighlands is in trouble as far
as the rankings go.
Yeah, because I know how Irated it.
I know how dan rated it.
Yeah, and so a lot of thehaters for us not having shadow
(21:52):
there will now be able to.
Yeah, you know that's a.
Joe (21:56):
That's the whole thing.
Right, it's a lot of money andthat's how I walked away.
That's how I walked away.
I was like I can now see howpeople value this course and see
how it's worth that amount ofmoney, so it will no doubt be
number one on chasing daylightpodcast.
Matt (22:13):
Yeah, course rankings next
episode so, uh, if I am not
wrong here, you can't post it tojen because it's not rated,
right?
Did you look, jeremy?
I haven't looked yeah, I don'tthink it's.
I don't because the they'venever allowed the rating people
to come out and do it, becausethey want to keep that allure of
(22:35):
word of mouth.
But look and see if you can, because I'm I'm pretty sure it's
.
It's not on there well, zayn, our caddy.
Joe (22:44):
He uh was roommates with
james fights, who's been a uh
guest on the show before.
Uh, he was our caddy.
Uh, rebels, um well, rebelshe's.
He said uh, what did he say, jeremy?
He said Is it on there.
Shadow.
Jeremy (23:00):
Creek.
No results found.
Matt (23:01):
Yeah.
Jeremy (23:02):
Oh, look at that.
Matt (23:03):
Yeah.
Joe (23:05):
He said because Jeremy
asked what's the course record,
because he was feeling his self.
Jeremy (23:11):
Because I absolutely
nutted my first tee shot.
Joe (23:16):
But, he said something like
, officially and unofficially,
this I can't remember what he-said.
Jeremy (23:22):
He said something like,
officially and unofficially,
this you know, I can't rememberwhat he said, but it was 58 six
months ago by taylor montgomery, and he birdied every single
hole in the back except for 14,the par 3.
Joe (23:32):
Wow, yeah, and that's the
bananas yeah, and he said
officially 62, I think he saidtiger and dj, because tiger had
it, and then they changedsomething and then dj had it
it's in the bathroom.
That's hanging up in thebathroom the course records so
so I will say me, me, jeremycliff and josh shout out josh uh
(23:56):
, who played with us.
Also, we were talking about thehistory of the place, right,
and this was my one thing whichI wish was like solid, right, it
feels like fabricated history.
I mean it's still history, right, but you walk into that
clubhouse filled with the namesand all that and you see Michael
(24:20):
Jordan, you see Phil Mickelson, you see the president, you see
Jordan Spieth.
Which giddy ass.
Jeremy was right there.
Matt (24:28):
Trying to break into the
locker I was but it's.
Joe (24:32):
it feels like history,
right, but it feels it also
feels like fabricated history, which and that took me back to
my whole philosophy I don't knowif you could call it a
philosophy, but Tom Faziofabricates these courses.
It's not like real history, butit feels like history.
(24:53):
That was my one thing.
Matt (24:56):
How is it not real history
?
Jeremy (24:59):
I don't follow that it
feels older than it is maybe if
you compare it, like if you takeall the courses that are above
it on the rankings list in theworld or the states, all of
those courses are at least like50 to 100 to 150 years old or
whatever it feels it's.
It almost feels like it's newmoney compared to the other
(25:23):
courses.
The crazy thing is just going inthe locker room.
You see it, the people that yousee in there.
It's unbelievable.
I get that.
Fazio does a great job ofblowing your mind with that.
It's not Southern Pines-likehistory.
Matt (25:45):
No, I mean like okay.
Joe (25:47):
So like I mean like I've
been, I mean nobody knows the
place, but like Bitterman, likewe went into that locker room
and it felt old.
When you go into Shadow Creekit feels like there's old
history but it's new, likeprobably when you go into
oakmont, if you can feel thehistory.
(26:10):
when you go into shadow, it'slike I can feel the history but
it feels pretty new for the mostpart it is I'm just I know, and
that's that was I think theywere it's like a, it's almost
like a facade, right, and that'swhat fazio is fantastic at.
That's all I'm saying.
Matt (26:29):
It's it feels a little
fabricated, a little fabricated
although and you know me, I know, I know that I know that, I
know that, I know that, I knowthat, I know that, I know that.
Joe (26:49):
But I'm just saying, like
you go to Oakmont, marion,
wherever you go, like it's real.
Matt (26:55):
There it feels a little
fabricated Does it feel like
Main Street.
Jeremy (26:58):
Yes, it does feel like
Main Street there.
Joe (26:59):
You go Right there.
Yes, exactly.
Matt (27:03):
There's a homeless man on
the other side of that wall that
has those famous lockers on it.
Jeremy (27:07):
Yeah, yeah, you can hear
the street racers outside the
17th T-Box.
Matt (27:14):
Yeah, it's the Wizard of
Oz, it's still fantastic.
Joe (27:16):
Right, it's still fantastic
, but I'm saying that it feels
like a facade almost, which isvegas too.
That's vegas very much so it'sperfect for vegas.
Jeremy (27:27):
It's the perfect fit.
Matt (27:28):
I mean hoover dam is about
the only original thing we have
around here that's not beenduplicated and fabricated in
some way or the di bridge on wingolf course.
Oh, well, I'm glad you guys gotto play it.
It looked amazing.
Go check out joe's stories.
Uh, they're fantastic.
(27:50):
Uh, you guys look like you hada blast and it was I wasn't
there, loved it but I wasn'tthere for a reason.
Let me bring this up.
So this is I took a couplewide-angle photos of Royal
Hawaiian.
This is on Oahu.
This is on the east side of theisland.
(28:11):
As you kind of come out of thetunnels from the Honolulu side,
it's on your right as you'reheading towards the water.
Got a couple.
This is one of their famous parthrees.
It's almost like a reverseRodan going the other way.
Dan (28:30):
Rodan, rodan.
Matt (28:33):
Rodan.
Joe (28:37):
Reverse Rodan.
Matt (28:40):
Rodan.
Sorry, rodan.
Joe (28:42):
Rodan.
This is Rodan.
Sorry, Rodan.
Matt (28:44):
Rodan, I'm sorry, I know
beer ritz.
That's about it.
Okay, leave me alone.
So this whole, it's part threeon the front, absolutely.
What you cannot see in thesephotos is how tall those trees
are and it was almost like anamphitheater setting.
(29:06):
You know, like you're in a grandopera hall and and just very
sick, very dope oh, I mean just,I mean over on the left hand
side, left of the cart path, left of the bunker, this see
those three palm tree stickssticking up behind the bushes.
Uh, though, those things arelike almost 100 feet tall.
I mean it's.
It's insane how big the brushis out there, uh.
(29:30):
And then, uh, this is the otherpart three.
It's kind of doesn't get a lotof allure from the t-box.
You know, this is where dronefootage is, why I like taking my
shots like this, because thisis what you see when you go to
the golf course.
You know, drone footage muchmore epic, much more
entertaining, but you don't seethat.
So I mean, this is, this is aalmost an island par three.
(29:52):
Um, then this is just lookingback to the mountains, towards
the, towards the west, to the17th par three that we were
waiting on, the tee box.
So then I did a breakdown of allthe tee shots from left to
right on the screen.
That's 1, 2, and 3.
And then that's 4, 5, and 6.
(30:15):
And 5 is a crazy par 5.
And then you got 7, eight andnine.
Eight is the video where I hitthe t shot that I've hit the
shot tracer on, and then nine onthe right there.
That is the layup area thatmakes the the.
(30:35):
The shot is over that palm treewith a draw to get into the
lower fairway.
It's really impressively hardtee shot.
Then the back nine is the tailof two nines Full-on slide show.
Yeah, it's for the people, joe,it's for the people.
(30:55):
10s downhill par five to startthe back.
This, the 11, wasn't thegreatest hole.
12 was a good part three.
Um, then 13, 14, 15 they kindof look similar and then 16 is
the part three, and then 17 and18 are both pretty similar.
(31:18):
17 is drivable, it's uh, myshot just came up short in the
bunker, but so what?
Joe (31:23):
did you actually think
about the golf course?
What like seriously, what doyou think?
Matt (31:28):
it is.
It's.
It's insane that they were ableto build a golf course on that,
that front nine, which there's10 holes.
They have a 3a and a 3b andthen they rotate, one's a long
part of three, the other one's apart four.
Um, the the starter, danny, wastelling me.
He said, you know they, therewas plans for 36 holes out there
(31:49):
and, uh, they just ran out ofmoney and that routing was where
they were going to have holescrossed and they, they just said
we'll just leave it.
But the fact that they wereable to build a golf course in
that valley because you go downdown, I mean it drops down and
(32:13):
it was impressive that they wereable to do that the conditions
were horrific.
I it was.
It was bad, like like bad likeit's.
Jeremy (32:27):
It's always like that,
isn't it?
Matt (32:29):
because they get so much.
It rains like constantly therewell, I, I asked the the in the
pro shop.
I asked the guy so how's thecourse playing right now?
You know, and it's my firsttime here, and he, like he's all
year in for a treat, it'sprobably playing the best it's
played in three or four years.
And I was like, oh shit, great.
And then they tell you, asyou're leaving the cart area, oh
(32:50):
yeah, the front nine is cartpath only, by the way, and, like
I said, you see some of thoseholes, bring that back up here.
You know, on the front, um,you're, you're nowhere near the
cart path where you hit theseballs.
You know, um, so it's.
(33:10):
And there's some uh like onthis, on the par five, the one
in the middle, that cart pathgoes like where that wire is
running around the corner andthe fairway is down the bottom
left.
I mean it's, it's a drop offand, uh, I don't know it, it's.
It was a little annoying, but Iunderstand it.
It's like I said, it's in thejeremy.
(33:32):
You've played it, haven't you?
Jeremy (33:33):
no, I haven't okay.
Matt (33:35):
Uh, it's down in a valley
and they get so much rain there.
I get why they don't want cartsriding around, because if
there's any kind of slippage, you're in the river, you know,
or you're falling off a cliff,because it's, it's wild, you
know, is it a roller coastercart path through some of those
(33:56):
areas?
And it's, it's entertaining,it's it's entertaining, it's
it's entertaining.
But man, the conditions werejust bad.
The greens were patchy and slow.
I mean, they were running.
I mean we had one green thatwas fast and firm and it was
probably like a nine um, but itwas the, the crab grassy patches
(34:18):
in the fairway.
Like you know, a lot of timeswe play out here where courses
are going through a toughstretch and you're in dirt, I'll
just move to some grass and hitit.
There wasn't a better option.
There wasn't the fairway grass,it's that thick bladed Hawaii
grass, and then there's crabgrass in that and then there's
(34:39):
dirt patches.
And there's mud, and thenthere's crab grass in that, and
then there's dirt patches andthere's mud, and then there's
dirt, and then I mean it's likethere's a couple spots where I'm
like, how did my ball stop here?
Joe (34:49):
you know, I feel like.
So you said.
What did you say?
I can't remember.
Uh, it's a great landscape forgolf, but not executed well.
I can't remember what you said, something like that, but it
sounds like a shadow or a WolfCreek to Hawaii to me.
Matt (35:09):
Yeah, but I think of the
condition.
It's just hard, and I mean nofault to them.
It's tough because, like I said, the fact that the golf course
is there is insane.
Joe (35:20):
I mean you're in a jungle,
yeah.
And it's insane that the golfcourse exists, like Wolf Creek
exists too, you know that'scrazy too.
Matt (35:29):
But if they had like good
conditions I'm not talking great
conditions, like goodconditions like National is in
good shape right now, if it hadthat type of conditions it'd be
as $800 golf course because youwould not be able to keep people
away.
But I mean, it's conditions ofwild horse are better, yeah,
(35:51):
that's you know, it's holy moly,I'm serious it, it was, it was
not good, it was not just withthick blades of grass, not
skinny little furries, yeah yeah, I mean, I don't know the the I
said in my post it's like thethe back nine was built and you
(36:14):
know the guys are celebratingafter they designed that, that
that was nine holes in the barand they're happy.
Joe (36:21):
You got nine more guys.
Matt (36:22):
Yeah, and then the, the,
the jaded old golf architect
that's been cast out, looks overand says hold my beer, and goes
and builds the, the other nineholes, you know, like that's not
golf.
Let me show you fucking golf,Because I mean it's Spam.
Joe (36:39):
your CB down there bros.
Matt (36:42):
There are some fun-ass
golf shots.
I mean fun golf shots.
On the front there's that parfive.
I hit all the fairways.
That was crazy.
All my tee shots, I hit all thefairways oh well, that place
sucks, then probably no, it'sthe approach.
That's where do you think?
Dan (36:59):
it was the equipment no,
not at all.
Joe (37:04):
What?
What did you play out there?
Matt (37:06):
uh the some uh taylor my
qi irons and drivers and taller
mod dude spider trash I don'tknow not anybody post with plays
, with that thing.
Tyler Madi yeah, tyler, madi,um, but uh, I mean that on that,
on that part five, the secondshot, there's this massive tree,
(37:29):
all right, so let me tell youthis the, the Royal Hawaiian, I
can't.
I can't finish my story.
I know real quick, becauseyou're talking about it, the
Royal Hawaiian Golf Club.
Joe (37:36):
I can't finish my story
Real quick because you're
talking about it.
The Royal Hawaiian Golf Clubwas originally designed by Pete
Dye and his son, perry Dye.
It opened in 1993 and was laterredesigned by Greg Norman the
Shark the Shark.
Matt (37:58):
So Norman changed a Pete
Dye design.
Joe (38:02):
That's what Google.
Matt (38:04):
AI says Did it open 18
holes or just nine?
Joe (38:08):
I don't know.
It doesn't say AI overview.
Shout out artificialintelligence.
I can look more into it Takingyour jobs.
Matt (38:20):
I would like to know.
I can't imagine.
The BAC-9 is just very basic.
They just didn't have thelandscape.
Joe (38:29):
That's probably Greg
Norman's part.
Matt (38:32):
Yeah, a lot of long,
straight drivable holes.
I could see that being.
Yeah, it was.
I enjoyed myself A guy whoplayed with.
He was from upstate New York, new to the game, and we had.
We had some fun.
Emma.
I let Emma swing one time.
Joe (38:52):
I'm sure you guys saw this,
but Way more swing speed than
you, way more.
Dan (39:00):
Hi-ya, hi-ya.
Matt (39:04):
Hi-ya, she can swing it,
man, she can swing it.
So we got a couple things thatwe're going to work on at the
range this week hopefully, andsee if we can get her hitting
that ball a little straighter.
She's got the club head speed.
Got to get that under control.
And that is Royal Hawaiian.
It's one of much like WolfCreek.
You need to play it toexperience it.
(39:25):
You got to play it once right.
Dan (39:30):
Play it once and then you
want to bulldoze it to the
ground, just like Wolf Creek.
Matt (39:36):
No, I want them to be able
to have good conditions.
I mean if, if it had solidconditions, regardless of the
lackluster back nine, I would goplay it again because it's it's
that much fun and hitting someof those shots.
It means you, I I didn't likethe equipment I had to hit those
shots with, but with my ownsticks out there you can really
(40:01):
get creative and have a lot offun with the shots that you need
to hit.
Before Joe interrupted me, Iwas saying on the par five, your
second shot, if you're goingfor the green, you've got a 200
foot jungle tree in front of you.
Dan (40:18):
That you have to.
Matt (40:20):
You have to bend it like
jungle tree yeah, you have to
hit this massive, you know hook.
If you're a righty to get it onthe green and that's your
approach on a par five, I meanit's it is.
Joe (40:33):
There's some really cool
shit out there it looks like
there's like a lot of creativeplays out there, which I
appreciate.
Matt (40:40):
100 very much so, very
much so all right, if I'm in
there, I'll play it, you know.
But any any other questions?
Anybody any questions?
You gotta have some questionsjeremy questions dan questions
um would you play it again.
Dan (40:56):
Have some questions.
Jeremy questions, dan questions.
Matt (41:01):
Would you play it again?
Probably not, because there'sother courses out there that I'd
like to see.
Dan (41:06):
Okay, that's my only
question With the heater.
Matt (41:12):
Jeremy, you have any
questions?
Jeremy (41:14):
How much does the green?
Do you know how much the greenfees are there?
Matt (41:17):
He does not Do you
remember, I do not Shout out,
Mike.
Beautiful Golf Courses.
Joe (41:22):
Shout out Beautiful Golf

Follow Beautiful Golf Courseson whatnot and Instagram.
Beautiful Golf Courses.
Matt (41:28):
I'm an understudy on the
Beautiful Golf Courses Instagram
page.
Dan (41:36):
Yes, influencer in the wild
.
Joe (41:39):
I was with my with my
videographer in tow yeah yeah
full course breakdown, which wassick, just like t-shot photos
yeah, I did.
Matt (41:53):
I did that on the ig.
Uh, I got all the details forthe holes on that.
If you want to check it out,I'll be posting that on YouTube,
on our YouTube page for thattoo, and then I'll be doing a
review.
If you know, if you go onGoogle and you look at golf
courses, if we've played it,would you reviews and so make
(42:14):
sure you know.
Like laughlin ranch, uh, christorres was just recently out
there yeah, he was veryimpressed very impressed with
laughlin ranch and uh, but yeah, there's a.
There's a google review from thechasing data podcast on
laughlin ranch.
So if you're on google, notyelp you're on google and you're
looking at golf courses and youcheck the reviews.
Good chance that we've reviewedit on there.
Joe (42:36):
I did see.
I did see chris torres todayand he said that it's his
birthday on thursday.
Happy birthday, chris happyearly birthday um, but vj, who's
in vegas golf network, playedout at our tournament at laflin
ranch and uh, vj told chris, hey, want to take you out to play
(42:57):
golf for your birthday.
Took him out to Laughlin Ranchand yeah, chris was like that
place is pretty fucking sick.
Dan (43:07):
Laughlin Ranch is very good
.
And when I told him we weretalking about it.
Joe (43:13):
We were talking about him
because he dropped my shirt off,
shout out to World Famous.
He was in front of Pizza Rockat GVR and he said I did not
know what to expect and I toldhim it feels like a Revere meets
Conestoga and he's like, yeah,I could see that, but he loved
it, loved it.
Matt (43:34):
Lawson Ranch is sick.
Go play.
Go play, go play Everybodygives a shit for being so high
in the rankings.
Now you know why it's good.
Joe (43:46):
There's a lot of great.
Matt (43:47):
I can't wait that's
another one, because Joe and I
were the only ones that playedit in the rankings.
Now that Jeremy and Dan haveplayed it, that that one might
be moving up a little bit, alittle bit up.
Dan (43:59):
The rankings will change a
little bit.
Top 10.
Joe (44:02):
It's going to be Shadow 1,
Laughlin Ranch 2.
Wolf Creek 39.
Matt (44:10):
Yeah, and all the heat
we've been getting on, wolf.
Joe (44:12):
Creek.
All the heat we've gotten onWolf Creek is pretty crazy.
Matt (44:16):
Dude it's unbelievable.
Joe (44:18):
I think we should all go
play it again.
Jeremy (44:21):
We should.
Dan (44:26):
All of us.
Joe (44:26):
I've only played it one
time and I was a 20-hand gap.
Matt (44:29):
You're asking me to play
Wolf Creek instead of Conestoga.
Joe (44:33):
I was a 20-hand gap.
I've yet to play.
Matt (44:35):
Conestoga, oh see.
Jeremy (44:38):
Let's was a 20-hand.
Dan (44:39):
I've yet to play Conestoga.
Oh, see you can do both.
Joe (44:40):
Let's do a 36.
36 one day.
Matt (44:45):
We'll do a 54 and go play
a 45 and go play Coyote Willows.
Coyote Willows.
That's a fun little nine-holecourse Nobody knows about.
Okay, dan, a couple victoriesover the weekend, sir.
Dan (45:04):
Yeah, you're just on a
heater.
Yeah, life's good when you liveright.
Matt (45:12):
You and Jeremy went out to
Coyote Springs, won a little
scramble.
Dan (45:18):
Yeah yeah, we did a little
two-man event out there.
Jay and I actually did prettygood.
They had us teeing out from theWhites, which is oh Jesus.
Yeah, it was different, but weboth played pretty well.
Matt (45:34):
Different golf course for
you guys.
Dan (45:36):
Very different golf course,
but you but we both played
pretty well.
Very different golf course, butwe played pretty well.
What did we shoot, jay?
Jeremy (45:43):
We shot 58.
Dan (45:45):
58, so 14 under Pretty good
.
Turns out, we won by six, so Iguess we played very well, and
if they continue to have eventslike that, we're going to keep
getting in them.
And just why not?
Jeremy (46:06):
Until they don't let us
anymore.
Dan (46:08):
Until they tell us we can't
play anymore.
Matt (46:10):
Was it a net event or
gross?
Dan (46:14):
It was a net event.
Matt (46:15):
Two pluses won a net event
.
Two pluses won a net event.
Joe (46:17):
You guys shot like a 60,
then we shot like 57.
Matt (46:23):
Oh, 56?
.
They added strokes.
They gave us one shot.
Dan (46:27):
I think it was what 75% of
the handicap, or something like
that.
I don't know what it was, butwe ended up getting one shot and
we ended up burning the holethat day.
Matt (46:36):
That was hilarious.
That's hilarious.
Dan (46:39):
So that was nice.
And then on Sunday we played inthe Big Cup Challenge at Siena
with the 8-inch cups.
It was me, trey, sean Wood andRob Chapman, and I'm not even
going to lie.
Rob played his fucking ass off.
(47:01):
We shot 50 as a team, but nojoke.
I would say probably over halfof the birdies that we made were
set up and or made by Rob.
He's finally yeah, he, he wentto this.
(47:22):
He switched to this um, uh,claw grip.
And I mean, in those eight inchcups they have like this little
, like this little butt pluglooking thing where you stick
the flag in Every time.
It wouldn't even matter in theeight-inch cup.
Every time Rob would hit thefucking little plug.
(47:44):
Every time he was fuckingcenter-cutting everything, not
only with this point, right inPlugging away, his balls were
hitting that plug all the way.
No, he was playing his ass off.
I mean knocking him tight fromthe fairway.
(48:07):
You know, sean played great too.
He was knocking down putts forus and he chipped in for eagle
for us.
You know, I putt.
I made one putt putt and it wason.
I think it was either on theirsecond or last or last hole.
I only had, I only had to puttone time because those guys
already held up.
So it was a lot of fun and uh,yeah, so we ended up winning 100
(48:29):
bucks each for that, for takinghome.
Another team actually shot uh50 with us and um, oh, what I
forgot to say was there's athing in the tournament where
you roll some dice and whateveryou roll on the dice, you get
those strokes too.
Um, I forgot, I left that out.
Um, I rolled the dice for usand I rolled an 11, so we got 11
(48:51):
strokes on top of what we shot.
Um, yeah, so we came in with a50 39.
Yeah, 50 net 39 is what we shot.
And then another team came inwith the same score.
Another team shot 50 net 39, sothey gave us, they ended up
giving us the gross and theygave the other team the net.
Joe (49:13):
Hmm.
Dan (49:15):
Interesting.
It was fun though.
It was fun though.
Matt (49:18):
Jeremy, what putter did
you play at Shadow and Coyote?
Jeremy (49:25):
I played just the normal
Scotty that I had at TPC.
Matt (49:29):
All right, dan, still with
the mid-mallet.
Dan (49:33):
Oh yeah.
Matt (49:33):
Oh yeah.
Dan (49:34):
Mid-mallet Goodwood baby.
Matt (49:42):
Joe Strokes Gane Godos

Yep it.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, goodwood.
Baby joe strokes gain go to hisshadow.
Yep right, yeah, he's not, he'snot, he's not happy with the

Joe (49:47):

I just need a different gripand and we need to figure out
the, the weight like I need a.
I need a garson grip.
Shut out garson grip.
All right.
I haven't ordered your gripseither yet because I was on

I didn't want to the weight.
I need a Garson grip.
Shout out Garson grip, allright.
Jeremy (49:58):
I haven't ordered your
grips either yet.
Matt (49:59):
Jeremy, because I was on
vacation.
I didn't want to.
Joe (50:02):
Just need to figure out the
weight, but I need a Garson
grip.
I do not like the golf prideBlue star, green star, red star,
whatever it is on there, I justdon't like it.
Matt (50:13):
Isn't that what you have
on your strokes game?
Joe (50:17):
I have a Garson grip,
garson grip.
Matt (50:19):
Garson tour.
Oh yeah, that's right, that'sright.
Joe (50:21):
Wad tour yeah.
Matt (50:24):
Such a good grip.
I found one recently on an oldputter.
I'm going to move.
Joe (50:29):
I was going to bring both
of them.
I did bring the Larsonpersimmon out there.
I hit it one time.
Larson golf has blessed thefairways of shadow.
I had so many clubs in my bag Iwas like I'm going to bring all
these just so I can hit themout there.
Carson made it, the others didnot.
(50:51):
Pretendo golf Cannabis breederand have golf for three handicap
that Bob shot 70 74 HeronLanding, ontario, canada sick
bro good on you all right.
Matt (51:15):
so change the graphics a
little bit.
A little quicker, a littlestraight to the point.
It's time for this week'sepisode of Holy moly.
Dan (51:28):
Damn, that was quick.
Matt (51:32):
You can do it a couple
times.
Joe (51:33):
One more, one more, one
more time uh, so uh all in our
fold.
Matt (51:44):
These are things that we
are in favor of.
So we're pushing all the chipsto the middle of the table, or
we're not, and we're tossing thecards.
Oh, speaking of cards, look at,look at what came in the mail.
I don't know if you guys knowhow to get these or not.
Dan (51:59):
Oh dude.
Matt (52:01):
I got some bangers.
Joe (52:07):
There's a show on what not.
Oh, I need light over here, ohgoodness, you got the daily oh

Matt (52:14):
What kind of camera are

Same one you are.

Joe (52:17):

Rookie right, you can rookiejohn daly I know mike fries

So here you know what is it.

yours.
Matt (01:02:44):
No, I am folding on
traveling after you've traveled.
Uh, I want to go to a resortand stay there.
Uh, we went to oahu, um, by farmy least favorite of the
islands so far.
Uh, it's way too crowded.
There's way too many peoplethere, um, and we drove so much
(01:03:09):
going to places and spent somuch time in the car because the
traffic is horrendous and, uh,it was cool to see those places.
Dan (01:03:16):
But, man, I'm done with
traveling after you travel yeah,
yeah you, I could just, I couldjust imagine, I could just
imagine all the people therejust sitting in traffic, just
losing their shit.
Matt (01:03:37):
And so I mean, like I said
, no disrespect to the islands.
They all have their differentvibes about them.
Jeremy, you like Oahu, don'tyou?
Jeremy?
Mm-hmm, yeah, not a fan, not afan.
The, the beaches are amazing, don't get me wrong.
We went to three differentbeaches.
All of them were phenomenal.
So amazing beaches, but the, the, the roads there are built
(01:04:04):
for like 50 years ago 40 yearsago they.
There's like like somebody cameup with this plan for a
beautiful six lane dividedhighway and someone went we just
need two, we can put housesright there.
It's like a merge lane.
What?
What's that?
No, the cars just come on andyou're on the freeway.
(01:04:26):
It is crazy why every singlecar in hawaii is dented.
Makes sense um, wow, wow that'strue, but uh, yeah, there where
we were staying, uh, you know itwasn't a ritzy, high class area
, it was a couple blocks off ofwaikiki beach, um, and you know,
(01:04:49):
there there was some definitefentanyl incidences going on.

and I'm like, fuck, who'sgetting in a fight this early,
open up?

(01:05:12):
in the face with his own fist.

I mean, I'm not like, like
fight club type shit like, like
nice blood just and I'm like wownice, it's like you, fucking
piece of shit oh, yeah, yeah, itwas I was like wow, so there
you go check out betterhelpcom.
Matt (01:05:31):

then definitely two blocks, two
blocks away.
Two blocks away is a fendi shopand a gucci shop, and a kiss
store and you know.
And then two more blocks awayand it's like tattoos and vape
guns.
(01:05:52):
It's like it's so vape guns andvape and fanny shops, fanny shop
oh, sushi and fentanyl, whileyou're getting a tattoo in line
for your vape, in line for yourvape.
(01:06:14):
But it was somebody we wereleaving, uh, one day, and and uh
, the, the timeshare that wehave is a condo, and so there's
some residents that live thereand there's some of the condos
that they, you know, lease outthrough the, the resort.
And we get in the elevator andguy's like, because you enjoying
your vacation so far?
And I'm like, first thing islike, do we stand out that much?
And I'm like, yeah, we do.
And then we're like, yeah, andhe goes, where have you guys
been?
And we're like, oh, we've beenhere, here, here.
(01:06:35):
