The line between virtual and real racing continues to blur as sim technology advances at breakneck speeds. This week, we explore how physical feedback transforms the sim racing experience through an in-depth comparison of bass shakers versus the popular Butt Kicker system. Eric shares his experience with a budget-friendly Dayton Audio setup that delivers impressive performance at a fraction of the cost, while we debate the optimal mounting locations and SimHub settings that maximize immersion without overdoing it.

BeamNG Drive steals the spotlight with their ambitious tire physics overhaul in partnership with Calspin testing facility. We break down how they're using a 1400-horsepower testing rig capable of reaching 200+ mph to collect unprecedented levels of tire performance data. This research-driven approach demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to realism that's rare in the simulation world, and signals a new era in virtual driving physics.

Jeff introduces us to an innovative approach to sim displays through vertical screen configurations, showcasing how a flight simulator enthusiast completely transformed cockpit immersion by mounting 53-inch displays in portrait orientation. We debate whether this unconventional setup could benefit certain types of racing simulations, particularly for open-cockpit vehicles and prototypes.

With announcements about Eric's YouTube channel launch, upcoming Le Mans Ultimate coverage, and listener questions about racing leagues, this episode captures the excitement and innovation that makes sim racing such a dynamic community. Whether you're a seasoned sim racer or just getting started, you'll come away with fresh perspectives on how to enhance your virtual driving experience.

Jason (00:34):
This episode is brought to you by Trophyai.
We discuss all things in thesim racing world.
I'm your host, jason Rivera, and I'm joined here by Mr Eric
Kelly and Jeff Smart.
How's everyone doing this week?

Erick (00:45):
Doing good man Trying not to melt down.
Here in Alabama it's beenrecord high heat.
I know y'all don't know nothingabout that down there in Hawaii
, but man, Dirty soul Bro, ithas been smoking outside
Miserable.

Jeff (01:00):
Gives you a reason to get on the rig, bro, exactly.

Jason (01:05):
How about you, jeffff?
How was your week, sir?

Jeff (01:07):
dude, it's good, good, just uh kind of cruising along.
Uh, did I, I drove the shit outof some stuff this week?
Um, I don't even I.
I, maybe three or four nightsgot in here.
Oh so I, I drove a bunch ofstuff.
Um, all right yeah, okay, jeffis uh it was a good week for the

(01:27):
race and yeah yeah, oh, andit's f1 week this week, thank
god, yeah, we're recording.
It is my favorite week of theyear for the f1 okay, if you
don't know it's spa week here,gentlemen.
Yes, sir spa weekend.

Jason (01:42):
Let's go, if you're recording this.

Jeff (01:44):
You'll'll already know the result when you're listening to
this.
You can't spoil us, because italready happened.

Jason (01:50):
Impossible, impossible to spoil.

Erick (01:54):
Yeah.

Jason (01:54):
Man, that's good man.
I did some racing.
I did a four-hour endurancerace over the weekend and it
went well up until the last 38minutes, I'd say.
Somebody took us out and wethought it was going to be the
worst possible income and weactually ended up.
We were fighting for P9 at onepoint and we ended up in P23

(02:19):
because a lot of people eitherdied or quit.
So I only lost like eight Irating.
So I was not, not, not, not.
I didn't care about the outcometoo much after that.
Then we had our beast.
We had two stints with anotherteam, same team, just you know
two drivers, two and two, andthey did really well.

(02:42):
So shout out to mark and david.
Uh, congratulations on oncompleting that and getting our
home safe.
We tried with somebody that wasa lot behind us and had a blue
flag and still challenged, yeah, yeah I will.

Jeff (03:00):
I jumped in the, I jumped in your stream there for a
little bit and dude there.
There might be people fasterthan you, there might be people
slower than you guys, but thereain't nobody that has as much
fun as you guys do in the race.

Jason (03:12):
Yeah, man.

Jeff (03:13):
You guys have an absolute blast in there.

Jason (03:15):
It's always fun, man.
I'm trying to tell you guys, you got to do an endurance at
some point.
I know Eric has got some plans, but, jeff, every time I get on
the league races, every weekyour name is mentioned.

Jeff (03:32):
I did.
Yeah, a couple of dudes werelike A lot of people were asking
about you?

Jason (03:36):
What the hell?
Where's Jeff?
Where's Jeff?
We got an F1 league.

Jeff (03:40):
With that said, I am asking the sim racing community
here If you have a formula openwheel league that races like
really late mainland uh back inthe U S?
Uh, that'd be great.
Um, I'd love to join if you're.
If you're, if you're willing toaccept me, I'm looking for a
formula for, you know, f3,anything open wheel I'll join.

(04:03):
Join league racing.
So I'm a free agent if you will.

Jason (04:09):
Drop a comment below or email the show at
thechicanepodcast at gmailcom.

Erick (04:14):
We might have something for you to check out a little
later.
We'll have to see, we'll haveto see.

Jason (04:19):
We'll see how it all rolls out.
So announcements time.
I guess those are myannouncements.
I did a league race, not aleague race.

Erick (04:31):
I did an endurance race.

Jason (04:31):
again it was only four hours this time.
So it was only four hours.
Yeah, it was so.
I mean, when you use the 24hour, Nords bro, everything else
just feels too short.
It's like too Just getting outof bed.
It sounds cocky as hell, but Iswear.

Erick (04:48):
You earned it, man.
24 hours is no joke, man 24hours is no joke.

Jason (04:52):
I tell you On the nerve of it too.
I say 75% in.
When you're in and you're stillthere, you start getting
excited because the clock isgoing down.
It's not 24 hours left, it'slike three hours left and two
hours.
You're like, oh shit, are wegoing to make it?
What's going to happen?
And then people start gettingserious again Midway through.

(05:14):
You kind of-.

Erick (05:15):
Everybody's cruising.

Jason (05:16):
Everybody's cruising.
It's kind of like, okay, yeah, settled into a nice little
routine.
The last steps are kind of likeokay, what do we need to do to
gain now?
With everything that's happenedup until now?
We try to do the best, right.

Jeff (05:34):
But I'm sure every other team has their fangs out on
those last couple, you know lasthour and a half.

Jason (05:40):
That's right.

Erick (05:41):
Elbows out, for sure, elbows out, yeah, and fatigue is
kicking in too for those thatare doing the five, four hour
stints or whatever it is they do.

Jason (05:50):
It's tired.
People get tired doing these.
And lapping On Nords it's notthat bad because Nords is a big
track for you to kind of justenjoy the track and go around,
and once you go around you havemore scenery.
But if you were doing like LineRock 24 or something like that,
oh my God.

Erick (06:11):
Get yourself like dizzy almost.

Jason (06:16):
That's probably why they don't do it there, but it'd be
insane.

Erick (06:21):
Be to run the tarmac off of that thing.
Man, 24 hours Shoot.

Jason (06:26):
You'll get tired of it real quick.
So I can imagine, eric, whatyou got for us this week, man.

Erick (06:31):
Uh yeah, man.
So I kind of got some some newsI've been working on towards Um
.
So I am officially launching myYouTube channel.
It's called TechJig.

Jason (06:40):
Yes sir.

Erick (06:46):
Um, I'm going to launch it on August 3rd with a live
stream of a race I was invitedto do a cameo in.
So shout out to Tim.
He's in a GT7 league calledSignal Racing and he invited me
out to be a celebrity driver.
He created me a dope livery formy favorite car, the 458 Italia

(07:07):
.
They're going to be racinggroup threes on Spa, with a
chance of rain, so let's go.

Jeff (07:13):
Oh yeah you had me in the rain.

Erick (07:15):
Yeah, it's going to be an hour endurance race, so I've
I've been in there just racingin the rain trying to get as
accustomed to it as I can, butyeah, it should be fun.
Like I said, I'll be livestreaming on my channel,
techgengaming, if y'all get achance swing on by.
Gonna be August 3rd at 8pmcentral, so whatever translation

(07:39):
to your time zone, that is, ifyou wanna pop in or something
like that yeah, man, giveTechGenGaming, give it a follow
on Twitch right and YouTube, oris it YouTube?
Twitch and YouTube.

Jason (07:52):
Okay, so Twitch and YouTube give them a follow and I
guess you'll post somethinglike a schedule or something for
that day or something like anotification.

Erick (08:02):
Yeah, I'll be posting stuff leading up to it and I got
to show y'all the show offdelivery too.
I'm kind of hyped.

Jason (08:08):
Yeah, man, for real, let's go, let's go.
Yeah, so congrats, man.
I've been bugging you aboutthat to get it going.

Erick (08:18):
Yeah, man, yeah, congratulations, come conference
time, man.

Jason (08:23):
Yes sir, yes sir.

Erick (08:25):
I got to have it going, man, I mean you still have the
Tech Gentleman guys.

Jason (08:28):
Give that a follow as well for tech reviews.
Yeah, he's got a cool video.

Erick (08:33):
Samsung season yeah, the Samsung season, yeah, yeah.

Jason (08:38):
Which I couldn't care less about.

Jeff (08:40):
You couldn't care less.

Erick (08:42):
Start reviewing iPhones, you know you might Been there,
done that, start reviewingiPhones.
You might tickle the algorithma little better.
Nobody cared about the iPhone.
Okay, all right.
All right, this has been a Guys.

Jason (08:54):
I want you to know this has been a fight for over 15
years, I think, Almost more, ormaybe a little less.

Erick (09:01):
No man, you started out in the prom.
I was in the Android.
You went to the dark side.

Jason (09:05):
Yeah, man Because.
I was in the Android, you wentto the dark side when I was
broke.
That's what I could have.
I know you did it.

Erick (09:12):
Oh man, let me know where your iPhone's phone is.
I had that peasant phone.

Jason (09:16):
Jeff, I had that peasant phone.
No, no, no, I was huge intomodding phones.
Back then I was installingParanoid Android.
Remember those?

Erick (09:26):
XDA formed XDA developers Digging through those.

Jason (09:30):
I was always like-.

Erick (09:32):
Trying to figure out how to unhook my phone.

Jason (09:34):
Closet, geek phones and shit.
So congratulations, Eric andJeff, how was your week?
We'll leave links to all Eric'slinks below.
Please show him some love onthe distant end.
He is good.
He's the same Eric that you seehere every week.
It's just racing.

(09:55):
He might be sweating a littlebit, you know, because Eric you
know, In the VR headset orsomething like that.

Erick (10:00):
you know.

Jason (10:00):
He might be, you know, breathing a little hard in there
.

Erick (10:04):
I love it, though.
It's cool.
It's cool in there.
I love it though it's cool.

Jason (10:07):
It's cool man.
I like it.
It adds to the excitement, jeff.
How was your week, sir?

Jeff (10:12):
Good, just a quick update.
I did have an update or anadd-on to the rig this week.
You'll see the new Hue Lightsarms.
We got no more plastic hereDone with it.
I saw it, dude, it's funny theangle too, huh yeah, so facebook
got me with some ad placement.
That was perfectly on spot.
Uh, yeah, so it's sims sportgadget.

(10:34):
Uh, it's like a fullyarticulable here.
I'll uh give them a quicklittle um, if I didn't have some
fresh 3d printed with the sameexact ones.

Erick (10:47):
If I didn't have mine, I'd have probably bought those
yeah, it looks like a magic arm.

Jason (10:50):
You know the magic arms.

Jeff (10:52):
Uh, yeah, so super interesting is, all you do is
put it in the position you wantand then tighten the hell out of
this thing and it just gripseverything.
So, up here, fully articulable, any you know angle here, and
then, obviously, you know, atthe base, this has got another
knob that goes 360 degrees.
So, uh, so far, so good.
I am, you know, super happywith them, like you can, you

(11:17):
know, put them at any angle.
Um, I had them over the over mythird, third screen, but every
time I stood up I was justknocking them a little bit.
I like them better on the sidesnow they're a little bit more
closer to me and the hands andthe wheels, so the light is a
little bit more intense.
We're giving it a go in thesepositions, but super cool that

(11:37):
you can just articulate them, shout out to SimSport Gadget for
a pretty good product so far.

Jason (11:43):
I have a question for you , Jeff, though.

Jeff (11:44):
What you got sim sport gadget.

Jason (11:47):
Did you know that michael from the sim racing den has a
discount code with them?
He has an affiliate.

Jeff (11:55):
I hope that you use that I don't think I just say I did
actually anyways, guys, I gottheir summer sale, yeah I don't.

Jason (12:05):
There you go, you good, I I had to.
I had to throw it in there Idon't.
We don't have an affiliate withthem, but I'm glad to shout out
a friend of the show, michaelfrom the sim racing.
Then check out the sim racingthencom.
He has affiliate codes withmany different um places and
this happens to be one of them, rob.

Jeff (12:24):
Markman.
It's got some good content outlately.
Rob Markman, yes, he does.

Jason (12:28):
Yes, he does Amazing stuff.

Erick (12:29):
Rob Markman, I'm going to start calling him Michael Bay
man.
Rob Markman, the B roll isbuttery man.

Jason (12:37):
Rob Markman.
Oh, it's beautiful.
It's beautiful.
I am, yes, I am watching thatcarefully.
It's a little too good.
It's a little too good oh yeah.
Well, anyways, for this week'sSimdistry News Update, we have a
little something a littlespecial here.
Well, not little, it's actuallyawesome.

(12:59):
So BeamNG Drive has a majortire model overhaul coming.
It's being worked on at themoment and they shared a
basically developed, focused onimproving its tires physics
model, which is essentiallydelivering realistic vehicle

(13:24):
dynamics in-game.
And this is kind of weird, right?
Because BM&G is an old sim.
It's a heavily modded sim Forthose BM&G fans out there shout
out to you, but for a developerthat doesn't really release DLC,
it's not really in the media,it's not really in the news too

(13:45):
much.
It shows how much they careabout their sim.
Over the years they've madesteady advancements to the
simulation technology, butthey're now aiming for a
significant leap forward in thetire model accuracy.
So I'm going to share my screento show you what they're using

(14:07):
and kind of talk through there.
It is there, it is there, it ishere we go.
So I'm not going to play thisvideo, but I'll leave a link in
the description of it.
It shows them using a machine.
Basically, I'll click on theseand as I talk through, I'll let

(14:33):
you know what's going on Toaddress one of the biggest
challenges in drivingsimulations, lack of reliability
reference data.
They partnered with Cowspin, aleading tire testing facility.
This collaboration has allowedthem to gather a large volume of

(14:54):
detailed tire performance datacovering a wide variety of tire
types, road conditions and testscenarios, including extreme
cases.
Right Currently, thedevelopment team is
concentrating on enhancing theircalibration methods to manage
the complexity and scale of thisnew data sheet set, excuse me.

(15:14):
Once that's in place, they'llbe able to refine their tire
models to more accuratelyreflect the subtle real-world
behaviors observed duringtesting.
The goal is to ensureconsistent and realistic tire
behavior across differentvehicles and driving situations.
So here I have some bullets here.
Extensive tire testing.
Approximately 30 differenttires are being tested to gather

(15:38):
data.
Let me switch over and show youAdvanced sensor setup.
Show you, uh, advanced sensorsetup, number uh.
Numerous sensors are being usedon a test rig to collect
detailed information, includingtemperature sensors inside and
on the surface of the tire, laser points, sidewall
deflections and microphones.
For the sounds, guys.

(15:58):
Like diverse testing conditions.
The tires are being put throughvarious conditions, such as a
large slip angle, heavy throttleand extreme braking, to
understand force production.
So you can see part of theirequipment there.
The testing machine can applyvertical loads, listen to this

(16:21):
guys.
Up to six tons and reach speedsof over 200 miles an hour.
Uh, powered by a 1400horsepower electronic motor,
which you see the ginormousfreaking.
I think they got enoughhorsepower there I think they do
.
I think they're good right got acouple.

Erick (16:37):
Got a couple ponies in there yeah.

Jason (16:40):
So here I'll switch over, you can.
You can see kind of themspinning the absolute hell out
of the tire.
Beamng is recording in-gamevehicle driving data and using
it as input for Calspin's tiretesting machine.
The machine output is then fedback into a replica in the game

(17:01):
to ensure direct correlationbetween real world and in-game
tire forces.
Uh see, here's a.
The team is focusing on ensuringthey're also focusing on
ensuring an accurate tireresponse during extreme
maneuvers fast steeringmaneuvers as well as
understanding the heat up of thetire and its effects and
performance.

(17:21):
And you can see here on thescreen how they're looking at
the damn temperature on thatthermal camera down there in the
center.
So yeah, they're looking at howthat affects wear and how it
impacts handling an efficiencytest like rolling resistance.
While there's no timeline yetfor when these improvements will

(17:43):
be implemented, bm&g emphasizestheir research-driven approach
and commitment to transparency.
They've shared this earlyprogress to give the community
insight in their long-termefforts to deepen the realism of
the driving simulation, acknowledging that tire physics
remain one of the most complexand ambitious areas of

(18:04):
development.
And I have to happily 100%agree that handling and physics
it's function overlooks man.
I tell you all day, look atthese guys.
They're dumping.
You know how much time andeffort it'll take to.

(18:24):
Yeah, a lot of money, Like lookat this.

Jeff (18:28):
I mean, that's like what I expect Goodyear or Pirelli to
be doing for testing, and thisis a simulator.

Erick (18:35):
So it's funny you say that, because in my mind I'm
like it's like they're basicallyhaving to make a tire, so
they're researching how to maketires just in the virtual world
versus in the real world.
That's literally what they'redoing.

Jason (18:47):
So they took the machine.
Basically they took thatmachine that they're using in
real life and created it in thesim and they're transferring the
data that they're getting fromthe real life one into the sim
one and building the tire inside.
That is insane.

Erick (19:06):
that's kind of like what that's kind of like what nim
cross was saying about iRacing, where basically he was saying
iRacing is basically like aworld the million points of data
on the on the tires yeah, andyou're just like.
You're not like just throwingin a new one and seeing what
sticks.
It's like you're building onthat world.
You're making it more and morerealistic every time.

(19:28):
So the more data, the moretools, the more realistic it'll
be.
That's dope.

Jason (19:37):
I think it's impressive for a sim that, again, is old.
It's just like Truck Sim.
They keep updating it and theykeep supporting it, but at least
truck sim is getting some sortof um, how do you say this?
Uh, they're making money off oftheir DLC.
It's kind of like I willmention this right here this is

(19:58):
a sim racing podcast, but it'skind of like.
A good example is no man's sky,if you guys know what no man's
sky is and you see thedevelopment that this game is
going through crazy at basicallyno cost you know, because I
don't understand how I don't, Idon't know where they're getting

(20:18):
the money to keep this game itkeeps.
Every time I turn around.
The game got an update it'slike, oh snap, and they added
all kinds of stuff and it's Iguess it's sort of a sim, right,
it's a space living sim whereyou got a mind yeah, they're
simulating worlds and, to yourpoint, about every time you look

(20:39):
around they're doing updates.

Erick (20:40):
I mean they literally just came out with the developer
said, like the literally justcame out with the developer said
the version they came out withis what they want the game to be
when they first starteddeveloping it.

Jason (20:49):
Yes.

Erick (20:50):
And now it's at a point where they have the technology
and the tools and all that stuffto create their game.

Jason (20:56):
And it runs buttery smooth bro.

Erick (20:58):
Relaunching the game.
It runs buttery smooth on theflat screen on VR.
Shout out to the no Man's Skyteam, handheld, I mean it's.

Jason (21:08):
And you know what?
It's infinite because theplanets are procedurally
world-generated.
So there's a whole new planetthat gets created when you do a
jump into space.

Erick (21:18):
Yeah, and the planet that you see is the planet that I'm
going to see.
Imagine if we had that in simracing right Proceedingly
generated tracks.

Jason (21:27):
That'd be insane, that would be nuts.

Erick (21:30):
This week, random track number 3012.

Jason (21:37):
That'd be crazy.
To the main topic, le MansUltimate has dropped today, as
of today's recording, and we arenot going to talk about that
because it's not fair to give ita good you know good
conversation about it.
We need to actually update andtest it.
I personally haven't had timeto test it because it just came

(22:01):
out today.
So I know, eric, that's on yourrig too, and I'm sure Jeff too.

Erick (22:07):
Yeah, updated.
I haven't had a chance to hopin yet.

Jason (22:10):
Yeah, so anyways, that's going to be about it for today's
industry.
Thank you so much, guys, forthe inputs and main discussion
time, eric, what you got for usbro.

Erick (22:23):
Yeah, man.
So you know this whole swimracing thing, man.
It's something about being inFacebook groups and listening to
podcasts.

Jason (22:32):
You just feel like whatever you got on your rig is
not enough.
Where's this going, Jeff?

Erick (22:34):
It's not enough.

Jeff (22:37):
So outside of you know Drum roll.

Erick (22:39):
So you guys know I got the seat a little while back,
which has been great.
It's been crazy, um, I don'tknow.
I can't remember if I spokeabout just the difference having
a real seat versus you did notbro, because we had a guest on
the show, yeah, and we straightup cut you off.
So so that's yeah, so so it's.

(23:01):
It's something that I did notanticipate and I think because
most people when they build arig they start out with some
sort of like racing focus seatto some extent.
But going from a regular carseat to actual racing seat like
my times increased just becauseI couldn't move as much.

(23:22):
I was planning to minimize justthe variables in how much I
could be off every lap, everytime I pressed the brake and all
that stuff.
I know, jason, you were talkingto me about that when I was
looking at seats.

Jason (23:38):
I told you you needed a seat.
How?

Erick (23:39):
important it is.
Yeah because there are a bunchof different style seats.
There are the reclining seatsand you know there are a bunch
of different style seats there, like the reclining seats, and
you know you can buy $800sparkle recliner seat but you
know, I've been called out butyou're like, bro, you you need
that, that one piece, you needthat molded glass that molded

(24:00):
seat, bro, like it won't move,it won't budge, and that way you
can be more consistent withyour braking and throttle
control and all that stuff.

Jason (24:11):
If I can add, right, if I can add, you have to.
So the reason I went with itand, eric, I love you, man, but
you called me out.

Erick (24:21):
So yes, Sparkle is an expensive seat.

Jason (24:24):
But the purpose of this seat is one, I'm a fan of the
brand.
Two, I love the comfort of theseat, I love the quality and
this is the number three reasonis the most important reason is
that this seat is rigid enoughto take the forces of a possible
future motion rig.

(24:44):
You know what I mean.
And it doesn't creak or makenoise.
Yeah, you know, it's FIAapproved.
It's crash proof or not crashproof, because you crash it one
time.
It's kind of done after that.
You know you're supposed to getrid of them.

Jeff (24:58):
It's like fireproof and all that other stuff and you
know beefy.

Jason (25:01):
It's straight up nonsense .
It's just a label that they puton and saying, yep, this seat's
been inspected, it'spre-approved.
Basically it's saying that, yeah, this is on our list of
seats that you can use on atrack and it be safe enough to
resist an impact.
And the way I look at it thatway, I was like dude, if I'm
gonna buy something, I plan onhaving motion at some point.

(25:24):
We don't know when, but when wego to this expo that's less
than 40 days it's gonna bereally difficult to come back to
a static rig.
So I just I mean, but having asolid piece of uh furniture,
right it, you know it reallyhelps with the muscle memory.

(25:45):
So I'll let you continue, bro,my bad, it just came to me.

Erick (25:53):
Just called out yeah Well , so you mentioned a piece of
furniture.
I think the reality is mostpeople have never been in a
racing seat.

Jason (26:02):
This is true.

Erick (26:03):
So you kind of talk about you know the the difference and
why race cars have racing seatsversus exactly the same seat of
your perspective, right there,cameron.

Jason (26:13):
This is good yeah, it it's.

Erick (26:15):
It makes a difference, like immediately, it made a
difference, like even just likethe position of my arms, I was
like like said, like I was beingcoddled like a baby, like I was
in there.
So I yeah it hugs you and youknow, if you're I'm not going to
say if you're trying to go fast, but if you're trying to be
consistent, right.
Sometimes I'm consistently slow, that's my problem, but I'm the

(26:39):
same.

Jason (26:39):
That's all of us, that's everybody.
Honestly, sometimes you justgot bad days, man.
That's just how it is, yeah.

Erick (26:49):
And so that's the update on the seat.
The other piece that I've beengetting beat over the head about
getting is a bass shaker.

Jason (27:00):
So we talked about this.

Erick (27:01):
Let's go.
I got a bass shaker and I'mgoing to share with you guys.

Jason (27:06):
Oh, there's video or pictures or something.
What?

Jeff (27:09):
are we looking at?
We haven't seen this, by theway.

Jason (27:12):
Yeah, totally First time here, we're blind here and I'm
under the rig.
I see them, bro.
I see them, I see.

Erick (27:17):
Yeah, there is Well yeah.
So the setup.
So I'll show you guys theshaker that I got, which is this
one right here.

Jason (27:27):
Dayton Audios yeah.

Erick (27:29):
Dayton Audio 50-watt shaker.
This kind of came up one-to-onewith the Buttkicker Gamer and
Gamer Pro setups as analternative.
It is not sold as a kit.
So if you're not familiar withtrimming speaker wire and that
kind of thing, this will besomething you have to learn.

(27:49):
But it is.
It is very simple to set up andconfigure.
Um, it will shake your teethout.
Um, for very little.
You see, it's called 60 bucks,um.

Jason (28:03):
The other piece that I got was the amp right Cause you
need some sort of amp to.

Erick (28:10):
Yeah, I got to have an amp, and the one that I got was
the uh knob sound.
So it's here.

Jason (28:17):
Very popular to those two .

Erick (28:20):
Yeah, yeah, that, that particular combo, um, that amp
with the knob sound, I mean it.
You plug it up, it has theinputs here.
So it has micro USB, which youknow kind of cringy but for the
price can't complain.
Um, plug in micro USB, connectup the power there in the center

(28:41):
, and if you got one, you canwire up one, if you got two, one
, you can wire up one, if yougot two, you can wire up two,
front and back, whatever youlike.
I just have one right nowbecause I was kind of trying to
see if this would be a decentsetup or if I needed to throw it
all away and go.
You know, butt kicker, butright now I'm pretty, uh,
satisfied with it.
Obviously, the majority of uh,the tuning is going to happen in

(29:05):
sim hub.
So when you plug in this guyright here, it will show up as a
sound output device in sim hubthat you can use the bass shaker
, um settings for and you canpick all the effects you want to
, you know, to to act on it.
Um, I'll say the settings thereand then, however you choose to

(29:26):
mount it probably the two mostimportant things right now.
I have kind of a crossbarunderneath my seat.
It's not directly.
It's not connected directly tomy seat, but the more I race
with it, that's another thing inmy head.
I'm like I hear people say ifyou connect it directly up to
the seat, then it'll be gamechanging.

Jeff (29:47):
That, who would?
Be me and Jason, I think.

Erick (29:49):
Yeah, dude, it's About 100,000 other people on Facebook
.

Jason (29:56):
I wonder what the difference between this and a
Buttkicker Pro is yeah, maybewhat do you want?

Erick (30:10):
so so my, so my, in my research the butt kicker is
audio grade bass shaker.
So meaning if you were tryingto use it in any sort of like
music production aspect or hometheater setups, if you were
trying to go for accuracy forthe full spectrum of music or
movie audio, it would check thatbox too, and they kind of
attribute it to the physicalsize of it as well.

(30:31):
Like it's, it's bigger, theshaker motor has more travel, so
you get you know more detailedreproduction.
But basically they were sayingthat if you're just going to
strap it to your seat and haveit do vroom, vroom stuff, the
Dayton Audio is Fine for that.
Um.

(30:54):
I would love that those arepretty much the biggest
differences that I saw.
Okay.

Jason (30:59):
Because you know, by looking at the size, you know I
wonder how much.
I wish you lived here bro.

Jeff (31:07):
Yeah, I know Right, Because I see the price and I'm
like dude.

Jason (31:10):
That's really cheap Really cheap.

Jeff (31:12):
I was like yeah, but so Even if you put two on there,
yeah, so a lot of people.

Erick (31:18):
they do one under the seat and one under the pedal
plate and I don't know where my.
You know, I have the little.
I might add the four corners onmy break, so that's what I'm
going to say.
Like some people, they'll dothe four corners, Cause I mean
you're in what, for you know, each one of these apps will do
two motors, I mean two bassshakers.

Jeff (31:40):
Yep Two channel.
So a hundred bucks or so lessthan that.

Erick (31:42):
Yeah, so, yeah, so, probably.
Well, you need to get two ofthe bass shakers which are 60
bucks a piece, I would get fourof them, though you know yeah.

Jason (31:55):
I would just probably smack two on each side of the
seat, or you could put, or youknow, yeah, I would just
probably smack two on each sideof the seat or you could put.
Or, if you know what the way wehave it set up, jeff, we could
probably.
Since we have one in the seatalready, you could probably just
add two front ones and itmimics the sides of the car.

Erick (32:10):
Yeah, or you know, because yeah, I saw some guys
that mixed and matched, so thatwas specifically where I got the
comparison between the buttkicker and this setup.
Because there's this guy onReddit.
I can't remember his name, he'sa maniac.
He's like yeah, I have abouteight bass shakers on my Reddit.
He's like I have like he saidhe has like two variants of the

(32:35):
butt kickers.
He has like two of these guysor something like that.
Brothers Electric.

Jason (32:41):
Okay when people tell me I have no people that have six
too.
And now you said eight.
So this is why I'm trying tothink, because, gain-wise, this
butt kicker will shake theentire floor off.
Yeah, I run it at 30% becauseit's just too damn much.

Jeff (33:04):
You know, yeah, I know someone that was even clipping
on them.

Jason (33:07):
I know just guilty as charged there is their guilty is
charged.

Jeff (33:11):
I had to turn down my high frequency, cut off it and just
tone it down a little bit, butit's still good.
It's still good.
Yeah, I was getting clippingand overheating oh yeah.

Erick (33:21):
So I'll say um, I've raced for you know hour, two
hours, and I'm running this guyat not even at 50.
No shit, yeah, I'm kind of likedown in the second quadrant
there.

Jeff (33:37):
So talk to us about your settings.
Which what settings you got itmapped to?

Erick (33:43):
So right now I do have the haptic motor on my brake
pedal, so I'm reserving that forABS and traction control
engagement, just because that'swhat I've been kind of used to
and I that's kind of secondnature, Like when I feel that
vibration on the brake pedal, Iknow I'm basically fucking up.

Jason (34:03):
I've tried several yeah.

Erick (34:06):
You know it's second nature now.

Jason (34:07):
That's a good way of doing it, you know.

Erick (34:10):
So kind of not, you know, trying to overload it, and also
I don't know what ABS in yourbutt would do for you.

Jeff (34:18):
No, I don't know what abs in your butt would do for you,
so, no, I don't feel right yeahso, so, mostly um.

Erick (34:23):
I'll say as far as gt7 goes um, I'm doing like road
impacts.
Um, I'm doing simulated roadtexture.
Uh, also doing um I'm playingaround with wheel slip and tire
slip trying to see, because inthe base checker settings you

(34:43):
have the option to and I foundthis out this actually makes a
difference.
You can actually have it giveyou feedback for each of the
tires.
So if you do the custom, option.

Jason (34:55):
You can do left right.

Erick (34:56):
Yep, yeah, same with butt kickers yeah yeah, and so I
found out the hard way that Ionly had one of my tires
reporting for feedback because Iwas I was about to pay.
It was like the.
It was like the front righttire or something oh, send this
thing back.

Jeff (35:12):
It's not.
We're about to go back, bro, soI'm like what the hell is this?

Jason (35:13):
It's not worth it.
We're about to go back.

Erick (35:15):
Bro.
So I'm like what the?

Jason (35:16):
hell is this?

Erick (35:17):
Yeah, because I had like an engine vibration on.
I have gear shift, which isjust beautiful.

Jason (35:25):
Want to have a live coach available on demand.

Jeff (35:55):
It is awesome, I use that.
Welcome, yeah, you can't goback now.
It is awesome, I use that.

Jason (35:57):
Welcome, welcome.
Yeah, you can't go back now.
It's open.

Erick (36:00):
No, no.
The reason why I didn't racethat much this week is because I
did stuff to the rig and thisis a vulnerable moment.

Jason (36:14):
So you guys see my screen ?
What the hell.

Erick (36:17):
You see my screen here?
Yeah, so if you plug this guyin to your computer, there's a
light here.
This LED will light up even ifyou don't plug in power.
So I'm looking at it.
I'm like why aren't you working?
I have no vibrations.
What's going on?
And I bought a new.

(36:40):
I bought a new power strip so Ireplugged in everything.
I forgot to run the power backto this guy.
So literally for a whole day Iwas trying to figure out what is
going on.
Why don't I have my basic?
Did it die?
What's happening?
I didn't have any power power,I got him.
So that's a little I opened upto you guys, you know we're

(37:02):
special Bro.

Jason (37:03):
that's awesome.

Jeff (37:05):
I'm going to remember this forever, bro.
We've all had moments like this.
Oh yeah, you look over thelight's on.

Erick (37:13):
Yeah, that's the thing you plug in USB.

Jason (37:17):
I'm checking the cables.
You hear the window sound andeverything.

Erick (37:19):
Bro, yeah, that's the, that's the thing like plugging
usb, like I'm checking thecables, bro, I'm unscrewing the
the speaker wire.
I'm looking at it, I'm like I'mretwisting it, playing about,
I'm like man.

Jeff (37:26):
Do you need to look in the box and be like?
I got everything hooked up atthe power cable sitting there?

Erick (37:30):
right so the I was, I was about to be very upset because
the way that I have this mounted, I have to take off my seat off
the rig to get it out.
Oh no, so in my mind I'm likeso I have two things going on.

Jason (37:46):
in my mind, the rig was just laughing.

Erick (37:49):
Bro, in my mind I have two things going.
I have.
I really don't want to have totake the seat off and put it
back on and readjust it Nobodydoes.

Jason (37:59):
bro, I freaking hate you, but also.

Erick (38:01):
I'm like I don't want to have to tell Jason that this
budget setup I'm in is no good,no way.

Jason (38:10):
So he can tell me you should have bought.
That was not a factor, bro.

Erick (38:12):
Stop it Bro.
I'm like.
You didn't want to.
I told you so, didn't you?
I did not want the.
I told you so, but luckily theproblem was in the chair.

Jason (38:23):
And the guys know that that's better than coffee in the
morning.

Erick (38:28):
Oh look, Jason will tell you at the gate hey cry once,
buy quality buy top end.

Jason (38:35):
No, no, no.
You know what, guys, I'm goingto do.
I'm going to say something here, live on the show.
I think I'm going to pick up aset and see.
I'm going to turn off my buttkicker and I'm going to really
give this a shot and if it doeswork then I can just keep them.
It's not like a big, it's notlike I have to get rid of my
butt kicker, because I never getrid of that thing, but yeah you

(38:58):
know, and even just feedback isextra feedback.

Erick (39:01):
You know it's good yeah, and I'm curious too.

Jason (39:06):
I'm gonna pick up a second one, because you don't
yeah, you don't have to doengine vibration on all four
corners.
You can do one and the seatwhich is where you'll feel it
the most, and then have the leftand front, concentrate on slip
angle and whatever.
Rob.

Erick (39:25):
Markman, I'm curious what that feels like, because Rob
Markman Crashing that feels goodtoo when you crash, rob Markman
.
Yeah, I've tested it out acouple of times, rob Markman, so
how do you feel?

Jason (39:37):
Now that you have a rig that feels alive when you kick
the engine on.

Erick (39:41):
Rob Markman.
Oh bro, it is so racing in VRwith this guy, rob Markman.
Yes, even better, rob Markman,it is nuts, rob Markman.

Jason (39:51):
It makes you feel like you're in the car.

Erick (39:53):
Rob Markman, you feel like you're in the car and I
didn't even mention so.
I bought a sound bar as wellthat I mounted to the rig.
Rob Markman, you feel likeyou're in the car and I didn't
even mention so.

Jason (40:00):
I bought a sound bar as well that I mounted to the right
Rob Markman.
Oh my God, man, I didn't tellhim to buy any of this stuff
Look man, I didn't say RobMarkman.

Erick (40:06):
I'm telling you, man, it's a wrap-up.
He's been keeping this low-key.

Jason (40:09):
Me and Jeff, we don't know shit about any of this
stuff.
This the show.

Erick (40:14):
Yeah, man, I've been trying to keep it under wraps a
little bit.

Jason (40:17):
Which is good.
Get that genuine reactions.

Jeff (40:22):
The butt kicker or these type of haptics is just like.
It's crazy I'm not saying alittle bit of immersion when
mine doesn't turn on forwhatever reason, or it gets
remapped to not pulling theright.
You know butt kicker output, yeah, it's instant something's
wrong, instant that like, hey,it doesn't feel as good, like,

(40:46):
and you're like, oh, the buckingis that you know.
You know, turn it on orwhatever.
Reset it to the right, um, uh,base shaker it is, and like when
I was racing I did some longerraces and it turned off with
like two or three laps to go andit was like, oh, it feels dead.
I'm like I can't drive this car, I can't.

(41:07):
This is.
I have no input, no feel, though.
You know this immersion is, Ithink, like the art, like the
engine motor.
You know the revving it out,and then the shifting is as
engine motor, it.
You know the revving it out,and then the shifting is as good
as it's really it.

Jason (41:23):
It was one of those things where I'm definitely not
faster because of it, but I amlocked in a lot more, like I
feel give it some time, becauseyou'll you'll start with high
frequency, high forces, and thenyou start toning it down to see
what I know Jeff is doing.
So, my question for you guys.

Erick (41:46):
I know we mentioned a little bit is mounting points.
So, like I said, I have acrossbar underneath my seat
that's mounted to the aluminumprofile, mounted to the um
aluminum profile, um, but I knowyou guys mentioned, you know,
with the butt kicker you havethe actual proprietary little
mount.
Um, where are you guys mountingyour onset?

Jason (42:07):
so.
So we did kind of jeff and Iwere speaking about finding ways
to put it on there because itmakes a lot of noise, bro and
when Jeff's rig was upstairswhere he had it, that was a big
issue and I told him, I calledhim, I started thinking about it

(42:29):
and I was like, how can Iisolate the sound without losing
fidelity?
Rob Markman, yeah, rob Markman.
So then we just I don don't know, I just took two, uh, aluminum,
just two regular aluminumpieces that had a bunch of holes
in it mountain plates like sixby six plates, nothing fancy I
went to home depot and I boughta weather strip so that I can

(42:52):
have, uh, like a, like a, like asort of soft gasket so it
wouldn't scratch, tear up theseat, and I just squished them
together in between the seatbelt your cushion most.
It doesn't have to be a Sparco.

Jeff (43:11):
It could be any most racing seats like 90.
Our NRG has one yeah.

Jason (43:13):
You can lift up the cushion and there's a hole down
there so you can run the seat, the harness, through it.
You know what I mean.
So we're not using that.
So you know we're not movingaround that much.
And even if we were, you couldjust go with a two point this
way and it'll be fine if you hadmotion.
But yeah, you just run the twoplates run, get some long boats

(43:35):
that can protrude and make itthrough the other side and then
just kind of sandwich ittogether.
Then you take the butt kickermount and screw it on the bottom
and then just clamp it and thisbutt kicker is kind of like
hanging in the air so it doesn'tmake contact with the aluminum
profile and the aluminum profileis on the floor but the seat is

(43:57):
kind of connected to thealuminum profile but it's
elevated so it's reduces thenoise significantly so, and it
increases the fidelity that youfeel because it's attached to
the seat.

Jeff (44:11):
It doesn't have to travel from the rig to the seat.
Mount the seat mount into theseat the rig to the seat.

Jason (44:17):
mount the seat mount into the seat.
Depending how thick youraluminum profile is, you may
have to bump it up.
I mean, it depends what kind offeel you're looking for.
So by having it to just a pieceof fiberglass, it's really
nothing.
You feel freaking everything onit?
Okay, because you're literallysitting on it.

(44:38):
Your butt is shaking, bro, it'sliterally shaking.

Jeff (44:42):
I see what you did there.

Erick (44:43):
Yes, so I know my next project is duly noted.

Jason (44:50):
Yeah, man.

Jeff (44:51):
That seat's going to come off again.

Jason (44:53):
The good thing about your bass shakers is that they're a
little slim so it might beeasier to mount.
It depends you got to get a bigenough plate so that way it can
cover it and not rattle againstsomething.
You know what I mean?
Because you don't want metal tometal rattling against each

(45:14):
other like this.
So that's why that yeah, against each other like this.

Erick (45:17):
So that's why that yeah, yeah, I was going to say it
comes with like a little soft, like little not felt, but like a
little gasket almost on the topon the back of it by default.

Jason (45:29):
So oh, okay, so it has that built in even better.
Yeah, so I mean, it's not theperfect solution, it's just a
solution that Jeff and I foundto work the best, and especially
if you have little ones andit's late at night and you want

(45:50):
to use what you paid for.
Basically, you paid forsomething, you want to use it,
and then you can't use it, andit's kind of like damn, I really
.
And once you get used to bassshakers, bro, it is over.
You can't go back to not usingthem.
Rob Markman, I'm done.
Rob Markman, I'm done.
That's a fact, I haven't hadanybody say I don't want this on
my rig.
I haven't met anybody that, andif you do feel that way, I

(46:13):
would love to hear from you.
Leave a comment below likesubscribe.
And it's like the bell.

Jeff (46:19):
I remember when we were, when we were looking at him,
jason, and you're looking for, like you're watching, youtube
reviews or Reddit comments andyou're like you're watching
somebody use it and it's justlike I can't see anything Until
you get in it.
And you're like when you sat inhere, when you tested mine, you
were in here for maybe 10seconds and you're like, oh, I'm

(46:43):
good, I'm good, I'm on board.

Jason (46:45):
No, but you guys he's being real modest about this.
I get home from work and I geta phone call from Jeff.
Jeff never calls me.
He texts me.
If he calls me, if it'ssomething really bad, like
something's going on, that, orhe's waking me up to go to a
boat or something Like where areyou, bro?

(47:06):
It's freaking, I'm about toleave, or something.
So he calls me.
He's like I need you over hereright now.

Erick (47:12):
And I didn't know.

Jason (47:13):
You remember that, jeff.
He was like I need you overhere right now, I need you now.
And I was like, bro, I just gothome, just come over, I go over
and I see the butt kick and I'mlike shit.
Man Got in the rig and all Idid was turn the engine on.
I just sat there, drove it forlike 10 minutes While Jeff was

(47:35):
in the rig.
I was ordering the shit on that, that's accurate If it doesn't
have that approach.

Erick (47:44):
I mean that effect, I don't-.

Jason (47:46):
I figured out the finances later.

Jeff (47:48):
Yeah, it's just this.
You can't explain it untilyou've experienced it and you're
like, oh, this is it, I'm onboard this is it, this is, I'm
on board it's and it'sspecifically so.

Erick (48:04):
So the first car that I did it in was the uh, bmw, the
m2, and the second you flip onthe ignition and start the motor
, like when you.
When you push the start button, like it's I don't care if
everything else is not set upright, and I can figure it right
when you hit the button and thecar starts up and your seat

(48:24):
starts shaking, you can't goback, rob.

Jason (48:29):
Markman yeah, man, wait until you play a set of Corsa
with it, Eric, and wait untilyou let off the clutch and you
feel the actual vibration of theengine.
You know how you've driven astick before and you let off the
clutch a little too soon, youfeel that the dash go like

(48:50):
vibrate.

Erick (48:51):
Yeah.

Jason (48:52):
When I was learning to drive stick.
So you don't do that, no morehuh, no, I don't do that, no mo.
So you get all those effects, man, and it's cool.
A set of corsa.
I do the smallest thing.
I sometimes I purposely let thecar stall and I put it in
second gear and pop the clutchand the engine starts.
It's that realistic, like sothat.

Erick (49:14):
so that was.
So I already have to take backsomething I said about not being
faster.
So even in GT7, I noticed thatI had it mapped to missed gears
and gear shifts, stuff like that, and the engine and all of that
, and I could feel the enginelike die in a corner when I was

(49:37):
basically letting the car coasttoo much.
I was like huh, I never feltthat.

Jason (49:45):
Rob Markman, you didn't get that perspective.

Erick (49:47):
All you relied on was sound they said Rob Markman,
yeah, I was like it sounds likeit's on, but I could that little
tremor.
Rob Markman yeah, that's goodfeedback.

Jason (49:57):
Rob Markman.
When the engine dies a littlebit, it's like, oh, like that
little like tremor.
Yeah, that's good feedback whenthe engine like kind of dies a
little bit.

Erick (50:00):
It's like, oh, you're kind of stalling it out, Like
you're not keeping enough.

Jason (50:04):
you know you feel it like she's struggling to get up
Because you feel?
The vibrations hard whenthey're like that, because it's
like a struggle and truckdriving bro is great.
I can't imagine.

Jeff (50:19):
What about with a Jake break?

Erick (50:23):
Bro, I'm a weirdo bro.

Jeff (50:28):
I be jumping around in the rig acting like I'm freaking
slamming here.

Erick (50:31):
Hey look, man, you ain't got to jump around man.
For the low, low price of$10,000, your rig can bounce you
around for real man.

Jason (50:39):
So that might have to happen, bro, and if it's like
that, I'm gonna need that threeinches of travel, bro, because
I'm gonna need to be swaying allover the place oh, yeah, throw
me around.
Yeah, man, go over a speed bumpand straight up go like this on
a speed bump.

Erick (50:51):
I want that, bro, if I can do that I, I'm fulfilled,
bro, I'm, I'm good.
Make sure you hit up Mikey man.
You're going to get all thediscount codes and affiliate
links you can get man, I'll try.

Jason (51:04):
I don't know.
Motion is one of those thingsthat never goes on sale.
Remember that, guys.
We'll see.
We'll see what we can work out,but that was really good.
Eric, I'm glad you brought thatup, because that's really good
feedback from the otherperspective, from someone that
doesn't have a butt kicker andis looking for a solution.

(51:25):
Right, yeah, it doesn't have tomake you spend a big chunk of
change.
You could still get the sameeffects that we're getting.
I'm going to try it, though, and you know me, I will
criticize're getting.
I will.
I'm gonna try it, though, andyou know me I will.
I will criticize the livingshit out of it, so I cannot wait
.

Erick (51:44):
I cannot wait to hear the feedback, good or bad or
whatever.
Just having that point ofreference from somebody who has
the butt kicker yeah and hasthis set up?

Jason (51:53):
because this is the more yeah, the more people that use
this stuff, the better.
You know we share settingstogether.
You know I've asked jeff forsettings all the time.
His shit is just a little.
Uh, it's a little.

Jeff (52:05):
I want to know, I want to know.

Jason (52:06):
I'm in a race car this guy has trouble breathing
through his nose and two things.

Jeff (52:16):
So less is more with settings to those that are
listening and just getting intoit.
Don't overdo it with the inputsthat you're pushing to the buck
, kicker or the bass shaker, says the guy that runs it.
I have only three.
I got three.
I got RPMs shifting and roadrumbles, or if I run over the
curb it, lets me know.

Erick (52:37):
That's it, okay, rumbles, or if I run over the curb it,
lets me know.

Jeff (52:39):
That's it.
And if there's anybody outthere that has both you know,
the base shakers that Eric wasshowing and the butt kicker let
us know in the comments or inemail what your thoughts are on
comparing the two.
Love to hear it.
Awesome, definitely.

Jason (52:52):
All right, what you got for us, jeff All right, so I got
a topic here today.

Jeff (52:57):
I am in a face your sim rig setups on facebook.
Maybe you've heard of it, maybeyou haven't.

Jason (53:03):
If you haven't, go check it out.

Jeff (53:05):
So there's a dude and I would say the vast majority high
90 is sim racing.
You know cars, um setups, people talking, you know talking
about what they got, showing, showing it off, et cetera.
But lately there's been a dudenamed Jack Lynch that has posted
his flight simulator setup andit is like blown people's mind

(53:30):
because he did something thatnobody kind of really thought to
do.
I'm going to show up, but thenI want to really talk about
could this be make its way intosim racing?
So I'm going to share hisvideos that he's posted.
He posted a video of a coupleof aircraft that he's flying and
I'm going to talk through aswe're doing this here, so just

(53:51):
give me a second here.
So what he did, what Jack did,was he vertically mounted
53-inch screens Wow.
So his immersion here isunbelievable because in flying
not necessarily important to seeup and down than the wrap

(54:11):
around you he's traded left andright field of view for up and
down.

Jason (54:27):
Right the wide angle.

Jeff (54:29):
So you can see where his legs are and kind of where the
screen ends.
But all this I'll hit play hereand you can watch it.
Go out and see where thescreens are.
But all this I'll hit play hereand you can watch it.
Go out and see where thescreens are.
No-transcript, I'll jump aheadhere to kind of see some of the

(54:51):
other things.

Jason (54:51):
Oh, it looks crazy dude.

Erick (54:53):
That looks insane bro.

Jeff (54:56):
Look at this, Bro.
That is a simulator.
Oh yeah, that's crazy 737 orsome type of commercial airliner
.

Jason (55:15):
Oh, this is.

Erick (55:16):
Wait, does he have somebody in the passenger seat?

Jeff (55:18):
Yeah, no, that's just in the game.
I guess he's landed on a roof.
Yeah, that's hilarious, allright.
So what I want to pause here isnow this is a flight simulator,
right, a little different thana racing simulator.
So he has no wheel in front ofhim and a DDU that would kind of
be in the way.

(55:39):
But we've talked in the past andI recently brought up I think
it was Third Wheel Exclusives onYouTube who did this whole
thing, where he built thePorsche Cup car dash to his
right and we see all thesepeople that are putting, you
know, the nets on both sides, the doors, the fire extinguisher

(55:59):
down in the seat to build thatimmersion.
So it, this is a way to do itand you have it for every car
that you would want to do.
The only challenge is you'dhave to back away and mount your
DDU in front of that frontscreen.
But here I did some math foreverybody.
This dude did 55 inch screensmounted vertically.

(56:20):
So I did some math and this isjust slightly tighter than 20,
28 or 27 inch screens, triplesor triple 27s.
So if we want to wanted, if wetook this thought from you know
this dude that did it for aflight sim, which makes perfect
sense for sim racing.

(56:40):
You're talking about 27 triplerange of, you know, field of
view, but your massive top anddown, so you're seeing your roof
come over you, the dash, andyou could use your own wheel.
You could hide the wheel in thegame, in the sim, but you have,
you know, like I said, the dash, your second seat or, if there
is even a seat, if you'redriving a center, center, center

(57:02):
, one seater.
What do you guys think aboutthat?
Do you see that somebody would, would try this.
The only trade-off right that Isaid is you lose a little bit
of that left and right field ofview, which is incredibly
important because you don't haveto worry about cars coming over
the top of you in a racing set.
Hopefully not, but theimmersion on this is far more

(57:27):
than I thought it was going tobe.

Jason (57:28):
So I will say this, I'll go first.
It was going to be.
So I will say this, I'll gofirst.
I don't think With aircraftthey have a bunch of switches
below and above.
If you look at a 747, they haveswitches above you down here.

(57:49):
So I think that makes sense forflight sims, but for sim racing
or for racing cars, there'sreally nothing but a roll cage
above you and the whole purposeof putting a triple screen on
the you know, putting triples onyour rig is to be able to see

(58:12):
the track ahead and the door, sothat way you can see the car um
.
32 inch is a pretty good size, but if you put 55 wide, you're
gonna get quite a bit, uh,portrait wise as well, down, you
know, like, you know, likevertical, vertical, I think.

(58:33):
That I think for flight isincredible because for flight,
again, you can, you don't haveto really look this way.
You know, in an airplanethere's no looking this way.
You're looking at instruments.

Jeff (58:46):
I mean, I think the video spoke for itself.
It's incredible.

Jason (58:50):
You're looking at altitude, you're looking at
pitch and all kinds of stuff.
You may miss out on thequadrant, but then that's why
you have your own quadrant rightTo have a, and it looked like
he was using verbal stuff, whichI'm a huge fan of.
I would love to build one.
So that's my thoughts on it,eric.

(59:12):
What do you think about it?

Erick (59:15):
So I think it'd be interesting if you were doing
like road cars, so if you're ina convertible or you're in like
a less conventional car wherethe cockpit is shaped a little
bit different, open seater orsomething like that.

Jeff (59:29):
Like a prototype too, where you're tighter in there
and the window's a little almost.
A prototype might work.
Jeff, A hundred percent.

Jason (59:37):
Because, it's so tight, it's not really.

Jeff (59:40):
Yeah, maybe even a Formula car maybe a little bit too is.
You could get the halo comingout and you could see above the
halo.
Go ahead, eric, I'm stopping.

Jason (59:51):
It's just coming in.
That's all the ideas.
Yeah, go ahead, eric, I'mstopping I'm just coming in
ideas.

Erick (59:53):
yeah, um, because I was thinking, obviously with gt7,
from week to week we have twolike race car races and then you
could be in a honda civic, youcould be in a trash, can it?
They put one random vehicle, you could be in a 1950 Mustang
convertible.
It could be anything.

(01:00:14):
Just thinking about some of theJust as an experience, having
that much vertical where you geta lot more of that sky effect,
it could be interesting, I think.

Jason (01:00:29):
I think we mentioned it's still flight, flight, though
100% there's a Star Wars flyinggame as well.

Erick (01:00:40):
Oh yeah.
I forget what it's called.
Is it squadrons or?

Jason (01:00:44):
Oh, you know what it might work.
Dude For farm sim.
You know farm sim.

Erick (01:00:48):
Oh yeah.

Jason (01:00:49):
When you're driving tractors and shit.
What about truck sim?
What about?

Jeff (01:00:51):
truck sim?
Oh yeah, when you're drivingtractors and shit, what about a
truck sim?
What about truck sim?
Yeah, maybe.

Jason (01:00:55):
Nah, man, you need to see beside you.
In a damn truck People come outof respect on the street in
truck, sim, I tell you they pullon you.

Erick (01:01:05):
They do.

Jason (01:01:06):
They come out of respect.
Bro, it be getting me upset, because when I'm playing truck
sim, I have a few in me and thisguy's beeping the horn at me
and I just feel like just brakechecking him.
$100,000, $100,000 poundtrailer.

Erick (01:01:22):
I have behind me.

Jason (01:01:23):
I'm like yeah, eat this bro.
I just wish I had the money tojust build one and have a flight
sim and a sim rig.
So if anybody wants to send ussomething, we're not hard to
find.

Jeff (01:01:39):
You know, since you opened this can of worms, I've been
looking to try to, and I just, unfortunately.
I want both right, like I thinkeverybody would, but I don't
think you can do both in thesame rig.
Good, no, you know, and be ableto switch within less than 10
minutes.

Jason (01:01:58):
There's things that people try to engineer.
The thing is, the rudder pedalsare essential for flight.
It depends you can use yourbrake and clutch and mimic it
your gas and clutch sure.
Gas and clutch, because yourlegs are kind of parallel, like

(01:02:19):
this If you had two activepedals.
There's people making profilesto mimic a rudder or the feel of
the springiness of a rudder, but it's still not the same as a
mechanical rudder forcing know,or the feel of the springiness
of a rudder, but it's still notthe same as a mechanical rudder
forcing your foot, you knowright, when you push one, the
other one slides.
Yeah yeah yes and that gives youmore position on the, you know,

(01:02:43):
on the rudder, it's, it's it'sway more precise.
You know what I mean.
Then you just guessing valuesin a sim and it might not read
it correctly.
You just guessing values in aSIM and it might not read it
correctly.
And then instruments, too.
You know all those instrumentsthat look cool and you program
your navigation data.
I tried, bro, I, I, I used tofly on this.

(01:03:03):
I flew on it a flight sim of2020 and it's it's hard to get
over that there's a steeringwheel there, even though I can
remove the steering wheel, butthe, you know the shaft giggity
is pointing at you.
You know the whole time yeah, unless you're flying.

Jeff (01:03:21):
You know, like a cessna or a something with a yoke, you
know like yeah, that's yeah.
Well, yeah, you can't do it,because I was like you could
just use that as on your ddu.
No, yeah, because it's got togo in and out.
I I was like you could just usethat as on your DDU.
No, yeah, because it's got togo in and out.
I forgot, yeah, like I said,it's hard, almost impossible, to
do both.

Jason (01:03:39):
It is.
It's kind of choose yourweapons.
It's kind of like DDUs puttinga DDU in front.
There's some trade-off.
I put mine back on and it'sbecause I've been racing more.
I've been racing more than I'veever raced before.
Like, yes, I occasionally getin the truck and everything and

(01:04:00):
I just ignore the fact that it'sthere, but I've been racing a
lot more.
But yeah, flight has a specialheart man.

Jeff (01:04:08):
But anyways, shout out Jack Lynch, Killer setup.
Jack, if you follow the show.

Jason (01:04:13):
I would love to have somebody get a different
perspective on this on the show.
It would be nice.

Jeff (01:04:20):
I'd love to see somebody just do a setup and just see
what it is for racing.

Jason (01:04:26):
It would be interesting that, before we get into the
final parts of the show, therewill be a real, life-size F-16
cockpit replica at the SimGaming Expo that we are all
going to try out.
Come on, that could be you.

Jeff (01:04:44):
Let's go, let's go.

Erick (01:04:46):
So chicane 10, get 10% off.

Jason (01:04:49):
You don't just get sim racing, you got farm sim, you
got racing, you got racing, yougot restaurants You're going to
see like the top.

Jeff (01:04:59):
What did George say?
15 people race in person.

Jason (01:05:03):
Yep.

Jeff (01:05:04):
You know, for the championship there's prizes on
the line too, if you got thespeed.
Not some crummy prizes, notsome door prizes.

Jason (01:05:12):
There's some nice prizes.
Nice prizes.
So I think that, man, if Ibuild, I'll tell you what guys
Check out Sing Gaming Expo.
I'm still buzzing off of whatJeff showed me because I didn't
see that post.
I think that the best scenarioto save money save is to build a

(01:05:39):
VR, a VR flight setup.
That way you can just be in VR,you don't have to worry about
monitors, you can use the samePC.
You just need a little space tohave an extra rig.
It doesn't have to be a racingseat.
It could be a freaking HondaCivic seat.
Eric's got one, bill, you needone.

(01:06:01):
It could be any seat and itcould be any rig.
You know what I mean, becauseyou don't really need it to be
that You're not breaking forcesof break on it.
You need a good, decent, stillprofile rig so you can customize
it and then just add a motionplatform.

(01:06:23):
I think that it's doableWithout the motion platform.
You can add that later.
It's not that much if you justput a headset on and a flight
stick and a throttle quadrant.
That's it.
I wish I had the space to dothat.

Erick (01:06:43):
And the phones.
Now Moza does have that.

Jason (01:06:47):
The phones.
I could get them.

Erick (01:06:50):
I could so Moza does have that shifter that doubles as
something for a flight sim.

Jason (01:06:59):
Was it a throttle or a stick?
It's a throttle or a stick.
I haven't tested that and Idon't think I had to do research
on that thing.

Jeff (01:07:10):
You could test probably most of this stuff by going to
the Sim Expo.

Erick (01:07:15):
There you go, jeff.
That's a good point, man, yes,that's a good point.

Jason (01:07:20):
Yeah, man, I'm excited, I can't wait.
I'm getting nervous because thedays are coming close on us.
But with that guys, we have afew questions that are long
overdue, so let us cover thoseand again, track of the week.
We're going to have to postponethat because I want to put out

(01:07:42):
the questions so that way we'reback on track with questions.
Keep emailing us, we get them,we save every single message and
we put it in a queue.
It's just that there's.
You know, if there's a guest onthe show, I try to give time to
the guests.
Right, with nim cross, I didn'twant to take away time from
that guy.
That guy had a thousandincidents a day.

(01:08:03):
I didn't want him to report myass hashtag legend because of
some freaking.
You know what I'm saying I'mready to go.
Jason with one with my, yeahsure your first one lead it off.

Jeff (01:08:11):
Yeah, so this message from a long time listener one Drew
Funk uh oh yeah thank you, drew.
Drew, appreciate the uh reachingout.
You're, you know, you've beenlistening to us for a while, so
we really appreciate it.
But, uh, he said, hey guys justwanted to check in.
Chicago's only a four-hourdrive, so my brother and I will
be making the trip.
Can't wait to meet up you guysas uh, as always, love the

(01:08:32):
podcast.
Keep up the good work, drew.
Appreciate the email, buddy.
Cannot wait, you know, to meetyou in person.
Um, you know, you and yourbrother, um, it should be a
great time here.

Jason (01:08:54):
He was probably one of the first ones to email us, so
it means a lot that you're stillhere after a year or so and
change.
So I really appreciate thefollow-ups and stuff like that.
It would be amazing, I think,to meet all of you, anybody that
comes up to us.
Man, it's going to be surreal.
It's going to be surreal, soI'll get the next one.
This one's from Jacob.

(01:09:14):
He says hi guys, I really enjoyyour podcast.
Thank you, I love it if youchose Mount Panorama, aka
Bathurst, for next week's trackof the week.
So, jacob, let me go back andtell you that we have covered
Bathurst in the past and it wascovered by Eric, because I'm

(01:09:36):
pretty sure that's like Eric'sfavorite track in the entire
world, and it was.

Jeff (01:09:42):
I think it was like track number two.
We did.
Yeah, it was pretty early.

Jason (01:09:45):
It was track number three .
You're almost right, and thisone was episode 32.
It was ams2 1.6, a game changer.
It was when the 1.6 update cameout, so it was around december
uh says here december 8th.

(01:10:06):
We had a release date for that.
Now let me finish the messageand we'll turn it over to Eric
for the next question.
Let me just open this back up.
Says it's one of the world'smost iconic tracks.
I agree.
You could also discuss why F1won't race there.
You should really check out ourepisode man Hashtag death trap

(01:10:31):
A little bit.
Man Hashtag death trap A littlebit.
I think, as a suggestion tomake track of the week more
palatable, show us some of thegreatest highlights of the track
.
Okay, we are doing that, and ifcopyright gets in the way, tell
us about the most iconic race.
Okay, noted, we'll definitelyput those in.
I look forward to seeing howyour podcast grows and evolves

(01:10:51):
over time.
Put those in.

Jeff (01:10:53):
I look forward to seeing how your podcast grows and
evolves over time.
Wish you guys all the best, jacob.
Thank you so much, jacob.
Yes, really appreciate it.
Uh, I think, um, max verstappenjust went as opposed to the
video for somebody of him doinga f4 lap in I racing on mount
panorama and he talks about, like, what gear you should be in
, where your breaking points are, where you want to run over
curves, where you don't.

(01:11:14):
Um, if you know, if that's yourtrack, that you know that
speaks to you, give that a watch.
It's pretty cool.

Erick (01:11:20):
Yeah, beautiful track, death trap, frightening but
awesome.
It's so scary that I have a, apickup race there.

Jason (01:11:27):
It's so scary that I have a a P cup race there, but it
already happened as I'mrecording this, so all right,
eric, what you got, man.

Erick (01:11:43):
Yeah.
So the one I have this week isfrom Mr Michael Von Union.
I believe I'm pronouncing thatcorrectly.
He says hi, jason, eric andJeff.
First of all I'd like to sharethat I'm a I'm an avid listener
of the podcast.
We always appreciate that man.
We appreciate y'all supportingus.
He says it's wonderful on theway to work and back Love.
This Last episode with DNR wasgreat, if only because I share

(01:12:05):
your enthusiasm for the tirelessefforts with which DNR brings
their products to marketUnbelievable.
But I kept thinking during thatepisode all this is great and
this glorification of Daniel.
But without SimHub none of thiswould have been possible and I
think we really can't ignorewhat SimHub truly means for our

(01:12:27):
SimRace community.
None of what we have now existsin its current accessible state
without SimHub DDUs, flagsim, shakers, light Controls, winsim,
etc.
We as a community owe them somuch.
I would love to hear an episodewith the founder creators of
SimHub.
Wouldn't that be possible?
Kind regards, michael Van Union.

(01:12:48):
Michael, you're speaking to thechoir.

Jason (01:12:53):
Michael, I've been trying for months now.
We're trying, we'll continue totry, and maybe this can serve
as a motivational clip that Ican take out of it.
I would love to have him on theshow he is.

Jeff (01:13:10):
And we agree with everything you're saying.

Jason (01:13:12):
Nikola is the biggest person in sim racing.
In my opinion, without Nikola, you won't have anything, you
wouldn't have nothing, you wouldhave it's crazy, the old,
mediocre stuff.
No offense, that's out there.
That's been out there for yearsand years and years and years.
That's out there.
That's been out there for yearsand years and years and years.

(01:13:33):
He's taken SimHub and made it.
It's a 2025 product and a 26,27, 28.
It keeps getting updated.
It gets better and better.
I would love to meet him andhave a discussion here with him.

Jeff (01:13:49):
I feel like he's the most important person in sim racing
that nobody knows about.
Yeah.

Jason (01:13:55):
Yeah, it's a small secret .

Jeff (01:14:01):
And I only know because you brought it up.
It's not like it's Daniel Morag, all these people out there
putting content out.
He's just out there grindingaway at a product.

Jason (01:14:12):
I put Nikola above any celebrity, because he makes my
hobby a reality.
He makes our hobby as amazingas what that rig is doing back
there.
And that's all SimHub workingright there Lights all that is
SimHub.

Jeff (01:14:29):
One-time payment.

Jason (01:14:31):
And it's a one-time payment, not subscription
