Jason (00:34):
This episode is brought
to you by Trophyai.
We discuss all things in thesim racing world.
I'm your host, jason Rivera, and I'm joined here by Mr Eric
Kelly and Jeff Smart.
How's everybody doing this week?
Erick (00:45):
Doing good man.
How about yourself?
Jeff (00:48):
Dude, it's the highlight
of the week, but we're just
clicking these weeks off, aren'twe?
Jason (00:55):
I'm telling you we are
it's mid-June already or
sometime or probably end Comingclose to the end here, yeah
three quarters of the waythrough the month.
Erick (01:05):
Yeah, june's flying by,
man.
You know what that means.
Oh yeah, yes, sir, a little bitcloser Tim.
Jason (01:10):
Gaming Expo.
Erick (01:11):
Oh, yeah, coming soon.
Jason (01:13):
You know, speaking of
that, george hit me up the other
day and said that we still havethe highest sold tickets.
They keep selling.
So I mean I told him highestsold tickets, they keep selling.
So I mean I told them I don'tmake sense, I don't want to
profit, I really I don't wantnothing, I just want people to
go.
So it's not too late, guys touse that code, chicane 10.
It's still active.
Jeff (01:34):
You can still use that and
I see he commented on our
recent video, noting that wehave 79 days left till the show,
which, by the time you guys arelistening to this, it's
probably like 72.
Yep.
Jason (01:47):
Right, it's getting up
there, man, it is.
I'm trying not to think aboutit, just let it come, and as
soon as we hit September, I'llstart getting.
Well, actually, september, itmight be too early, I think end
of July, that's when I'll startgearing up for like, okay, here
we go, we're going over here, sobut yeah overall man, I'll tell
(02:07):
you guys, been a tough lastweek.
I'll tell you now I'm in abetter mood today than ever and
I contemplated bringing this upon the show.
But my little dog passed awayand it was very sudden and she
left me a goodbye gift and thatwas sitting on my thousand
(02:29):
dollar pedals.
I have to joke about it, but Iwas really in a tough spot and
the guys here they called me upand checked on me.
So I have to put it out therebecause people might ask for an
update on.
I don't know if I damaged mypedals or something, but she
(02:51):
lived a long life and she was apiece of me, went with her.
So I haven't had much sleep andit's not a sob story at all.
I don't want nobody feelingsorry or anything, but I do
appreciate the um, the warm, Iguess, the support I've had.
You know for for the ones closeto me, so really appreciate
that.
(03:11):
So that's how this week um hasgone for me.
I have not been in the rig atall because, believe it or not,
that's that was her favoriteplace, because every time I sat
in that rig she, she sat on mylap with me.
So I don't know how she did itwith the wind simulator blowing
all kinds of noises and stuff, she would fall asleep there.
(03:32):
So that's how my week went, andit's a part of life, right, so I
have to man up and just lifemoves on.
So, eric, how was your week, sir?
Oh, by the way, happy Father'sDay, guys.
Erick (03:48):
I think we're a little
past that.
Thank you, thank you Happy.
Jason (03:51):
Father's Day to all the
fathers out there, all the sim
racing dads too, yeah yeah.
How was your week, Eric?
Start with you, brother.
Erick (04:00):
Yeah, my week was good,
Flew by.
We wrapped up a couple ofthings with the girls.
Dance is officially wrapped up,had recitals this past weekend.
So that was great.
Girls did wonderful, had a goodtime.
So happy to have that out theway Week freed up a little bit
(04:21):
more Another season down.
Shout out to all the dance dadsand dance girls out there.
Jason (04:27):
That's what's up, man.
What about you, Jeff?
How was your week, sir?
Jeff (04:31):
Dude, it flew by.
No, it was good.
I got a little bit of drivingin in the sim, but I mean,
father's Day was spectacular.
I mean, if you're listening tothis it's a week later, so we
can't be held responsible forspoilers.
So my Mercedes did fantastic inMontreal.
Jason (04:48):
Oh, they did.
Jeff (04:49):
I was walking a little
taller today in the last couple
of days seeing the race asGeorge came out on top, so that
was good.
But, gentlemen, also I thinkwe'd be remiss if we didn't
bring up F1.
The Movie comes out on the 26thof june, um, and I think I just
want to say, like, if you'renot even an open wheel guy, as
(05:10):
long as you're, if you're just aracer, they say that the racing
scenes on it are justspectacular.
So I'm gonna go see it.
But everybody that listens tothis show already knows that I'm
an open wheel guy.
So, um, I think you should go.
I'm gonna go give it a go.
Um, I am interested to see ifit's gonna bring more attention
to sim racing.
(05:30):
I mean, that's what got me into.
It is f1 you know from, uh, thenetflix drive to survive and
then it articulated into simracing.
But I'm curious to see.
Jason (05:38):
I hope they have like a
like a segment in the movie
that'd be dope because they dodo have simulators that help
them test and build setups.
So I hope they show some ofthat.
Jeff (05:50):
That will definitely spike
the halo and it better not be
on the halo of F1 the game, ohmy gosh you know it's going to
be on there, you know it.
That would just be like thanks,Rob Markman.
That would ruin it completely.
Rob Markman.
Erick (06:07):
I guess you got to.
Hey, beggars can be choosers.
I guess, though, rob Markman, that's fair.
Jason (06:12):
Rob Markman, I think we
were talking about it.
I think the what is that?
The premiere's out and by thetime you guys see this, the
reviews will probably mostlikely be out already, and they
were saying good things about it.
So I have high hopes.
I want it to do well.
I'm a fan of the sport andhaving Lewis Hamilton the
(06:34):
seven-time world champion oreight-time world champion,
depending on who you ask he'splayed a big role in the
creation of the movie and I justI can't wait to see what a
modern, you know F1 movie lookslike, if that makes sense.
So I think the last F1 moviewe've had was what was it?
(06:57):
Is it Crash?
I forget what it's called, andthat was quite a while ago.
It was the story of Niki Laudaand James Hunt, I believe, which
was a great movie.
Jeff (07:09):
Rob Markman.
Yeah, it's the same director,is it James?
I forget who?
Jerry Bruckheimer, I think thatdid the new Top Gun movie and
they said they used a lot of thesame Rob Markman.
Jason (07:18):
Oh, it's going to be good
.
Erick (07:19):
Rob Markman.
Jeff (07:19):
A lot of the same camera
angles and camera.
Erick (07:21):
yeah, so can't wait,
fellas, can't wait.
All right, that's going to belegit, all right?
I sure hope so.
Jason (07:28):
Well, let us know in the
comments if you're going to go
watch the F1 movie, if you'veseen it, and let us know your
thoughts, without spoiling,please.
Erick (07:37):
Yeah.
Jason (07:38):
Careful reading these
guys.
Make sure you go to the moviesfirst and then read the comments
.
But today, a little bit morerelaxed, I have for the first
topic of the day, maindiscussion.
I want to talk about TokyoExtreme Racer.
It's not really a simulator,it's more of an arcade racer.
(07:58):
But I'm thinking it'ssummertime, a lot of families go
on vacation and or some of youmay travel, and I'm always
looking for ways to havesomething on the go.
I guess you know I have a bigtrip coming up and it's a lot of
hours on an airplane, you know, and everyone seems to fall
asleep around me every time Iget on the plane, every time I
(08:21):
get on the plane.
So I have a good option for you, for those that have a handheld
PC or hell, even a simulator, because you can still hook up
wheels and pedals to it.
But Tokyo stream racer, it's,you know, it's the new.
I think the last one was backin 2007.
So we've been waiting for quitea while for a new one and it
(08:44):
was supposed to launch.
It came in open.
What is that?
Uh, early access, and it wassupposed to launch like around
this time, maybe may time frame, and something happened that
they delayed it to september.
So I just want to you know, letyou guys know that I purchased
the game months ago and I'vebeen playing it and it's really
(09:04):
good.
It's not nothing like any otherearly access games that we have
access to that are juststraight up broken, but this
thing works.
I mean, granted, it's not a sim, but I'll give you some notes I
have here.
It's set on the iconic ShutokuExpressway and Wangan route, of
course the Tokyo Highway, iconicshutoku expressway and wangan
(09:28):
route, of course the tokyohighway.
So that's kind of how it itgained its fame.
It's, it's.
The entire game is at night.
The entire game is racing onthe highway and you have to
flicker your lights behind thecar yeah, you do you invite the
guy to race and then oh, okayafter about like 10 rivals, uh,
their class leader shows up andhe flashes the lights on you and
you got to beat him.
(09:49):
And then that's how you unlockmufflers.
You could do engine swaps onthis thing.
I had a oh that's cool.
I had a Civic with a Supraengine in it, like a 2JZ in it.
It was stupid back then.
Oh, that's crazy.
It was stupid back then, that'scrazy.
So it has 50 licensed Japanesecars, from the classic JDM
Iconics to the modern stuff.
(10:12):
It has 216 name rivals.
I mentioned About 110 miles ofroad, and when I mean 110 miles,
I mean like real 110 miles, like for you to do a loop around
.
This thing is going to take.
Well, it depends how fastyou're going, right.
(10:32):
Take an hour change dependinghow fast you're going if you get
to stop.
It's built on yeah man, it'sbuilt on the latest Unreal
Engine 5.4.
It's super smooth, runs at 4,4k 60, has a great soundtrack.
And here's the thing, guys, ea,are you listening?
It has mouse support that's oneit has mouse support and it's a
(10:56):
game built for consoles.
Really, what a novel idea and ithas zero microtransactions Zero
, so it has no microtransactions.
It's purely single player based.
It's been in early access forfour months now and yeah, that's
kind of it.
Erick (11:17):
Yeah, go ahead.
Jason (11:17):
Eric.
Erick (11:19):
So you say it's console
based.
Which console are you planningon?
Jason (11:22):
So right now the early
access is pc only uh okay, pc
okay but it's planned to releaseon all major except for the
switch.
I I would say xbox andplaystation, but the one back in
07 was a playstation um releaseand then later, I believe, it
came to dreamcast or xbox orsomething like that.
(11:45):
I know, wait, excuse me, 2007was the latest installment, but
the first games came out inPlayStation 2 era and the
Dreamcast era Dreamcast,dreamcast.
So it's a company called Genki.
They're out of Japan and, yeah,it's a lot of fun.
You can hook up the cards, youcan drop them, you can install
(12:07):
different parts.
Have you guys ever been to anarcade where it's like a
Japanese racer and then it'llspit out an identification card
and every time you go to themachine, you put that
identification card and it hadall your car, your setup and
everything.
It's kind of like that.
Okay, yeah.
Erick (12:29):
That sounds cool, man.
So imagine having Try that out.
Jason (12:32):
Yeah, imagine having.
You can have it on the go, butthen imagine having one of those
rigs or arcades right here.
If you just want to have fun,if you're not worried about lap
times or anything like that, Imean it's not really a lap time
game, it's.
It's more about I'm in front ofyou and yeah, I mean a casual
(12:53):
racer like yeah okay, seems likea perfect game to just, you
know, kind of pass the time andyou know yeah, if you yeah, like
you're saying if you're gettingon a plane or something yeah,
if you're getting on a plane oryou're super bored or you go on
a business trip and you can'tbring your simulator with you, I
mean, and even if you could, are you really going to race on
a controller and just ruin yourprogress?
(13:16):
You know you want to take abreak from everything and just
either go out, watch a movie orjust say, hey, you know, like I
know, some people take their VRheadsets and they'll watch
movies and like a hundred andscreen or something like that.
Or F1, I've heard, I know Jeffsometimes watches F1 in a
virtual space, but yeah, it'sawesome.
Jeff (13:38):
This is a good option it's
.
Jason (13:40):
it's a great game.
I highly recommend it.
Um, a lot of people have beenwaiting for it.
It looks beautiful and it runson virtually game.
I highly recommend it.
Um, a lot of people have beenwaiting for it.
It looks beautiful and it runson virtually anything.
I have a Legion go and that's aportable handheld PC and it
runs great.
So I mean any potato PC outthere can run this thing.
So and that's a Tokyo extremeracer 2025, a lot of us been
(14:04):
waiting for it.
So that's my topic for todayand let me know what you think.
If you picked it up, let meknow what you think about it.
It's good, I like it.
It's fun.
Again, very.
This is sim racing podcast, butagain, we can't sim race
everywhere, you know.
Erick (14:21):
At least I can drive
these cars on the toilet, you
know while I wait for my nextstint, not mess up your R rating
, huh.
Jason (14:29):
That's it.
Yeah, man, and I want to add inone more thing and I'm done,
finished with the topic.
But this is going to be ashocker.
But I want to try my hand atoval racing.
So I bought an Arca series car,I don't know, I bought the.
Erick (14:50):
Toyota Camry.
Oh, okay, yeah, yeah.
Jason (14:54):
Yeah, it's a D class.
But then I started looking atthe tracks, bro, and I added all
the tracks to my cart.
It was like $300.
Erick (15:01):
I was like damn, oh, yeah
, yeah card, it was like three
hundred dollars.
Jeff (15:04):
I was like, damn, oh yeah,
you could.
Yeah, I mean, it's some ofthose d class and rookie.
Uh, that's right.
Are you out of rookie?
Yeah, I am not out of laps umlaps, and rookie can be under
like 20 seconds yeah they'reyeah, quick yeah quick.
It's like spinning laps in yourliving room.
Jason (15:27):
I don't know.
I felt like trying somethingnew.
Jeff (15:30):
It's totally different.
Jason (15:32):
Yeah, test out that
different side of the sim racing
, right?
Because I keep reading aboutupdates and improvements,
enhancements to NASCAR, and I'mlike, well, damn it, let me try
these freaking.
Can I get some of these?
We got the GT3 model, the tiremodel, which is awesome.
That's about it.
(15:52):
Everything else went to.
Nascar yeah.
Erick (15:55):
Yeah, I'm interested as
well I don't know if it's Jeff,
jeff, just seems so excited whenhe's talking about it.
Jeff (16:02):
Like he's having a blast.
Erick (16:03):
I'm like I might need to
try that.
Jeff (16:05):
My recommendation is don't
do like legit NASCAR until
you're out of D class.
I did it once.
Think of like F1 or F4 at thefirst corner times like a
million Because, like you'redriving, you didn't move the
wheel and you just like switchlanes.
You know like just because youlike drift, drift, you know the
wind and stuff and the drift and, uh, making it through one of a
(16:27):
ad class like nascar or truckseries race is a crapshoot.
I know it's wicked fun.
I'm in, it's wicked fun, let'sdo it.
Jason (16:38):
I'm in for it.
Jeff (16:39):
Swear to god it's coming,
so interested to hear about your
progress as you do it.
Jason (16:46):
Hell yeah, man, I will
keep everyone up to date here
and tell you when I rage quit, because that's probably what's
going to happen sooner thanlater.
But that's it for me today.
Over to Eric the big boss.
What's going on?
Erick (17:00):
Hey, what's going on?
Man's going on, man.
So, yeah, um, today got an old, tried and true um, you know
company that we mentioned on thechannel here.
Uh, my favorite, and jeff's aswell, sim magic, is back at it
again.
They got some new hardware here, so I just want to share what
(17:21):
they got cooking for you guys.
Um, and to be honest, well, actually all of it's technically
new.
I was going to say one piece ofit is kind of just like a
reconfiguration, but we'll startout with the totally new piece.
Another reactor All right, sothey come out with another.
(17:41):
Oh, yeah, yeah.
So this one slots in between.
I don't know if you rememberthey came out with the little
Neo like $16 haptic a while back.
Yes, they have their originalkind of like $70 haptic.
The bigger one, this one slotskind of right in the middle
there, so it's $40.
It's a linear haptic pedalreactor and they actually kind
(18:04):
of give you like a scenario forit, like which pedal, like it's
almost like a they kind ofintended for like the throttle.
So I guess they noticed mostpeople weren't buying like three
of the bigger haptics or two ofthem, because really with the
bigger one mostly you get thebest effects on the brake pedal,
because on the throttle there'snot really much going on,
(18:26):
especially if you got bassshakers.
But this little one, I guess, with it being a little bit less
expensive, um, they kind ofwanted to put something out
there for the throttle pedal.
So, um, you can see the guy hasit on his throttle there in
that pick, and I thought theyhad another image.
Uh, yeah, this one right here.
So, as you can see, on thebreak down here at the bottom,
(18:47):
they have the bigger haptic andthey have two of the little, uh,
these little mid-tier hapticson the clutch and the throttle
pedal.
So, um, I don't know, it seemsto me like the little $16 one.
It's kind of too good to betrue.
I don't know if it just wasn'treceived well, so they were like
we need to do a little bitbetter quality.
Jason (19:08):
Nothing I've never heard.
I even forgot about them.
It's wild right.
Jeff (19:14):
We didn't even hear that
they were terrible or they were
great, it's just silence.
Erick (19:19):
I'd be surprised if
people just couldn't get them.
I mean $16 final product.
If mean $16, like final product.
It's like if you're ordering,something you're like ah, $16,.
Jeff (19:29):
throw it in, yeah.
Erick (19:31):
And yeah interesting.
Yeah.
I guess you got to make moneysomehow.
But yeah, full of SimHubsupport.
You know they kind of mentionedsome, you know, extra
parameters here, Mountingoptions here yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jeff (19:48):
So you went out.
So, basically, without probably3d printing stuff, it looks
like it's just well they're.
They're just saying it's uh,simagic pedals, but I'm sure
it's with a simple 3d print, something you could fit onto
other stuff oh, definitely.
Erick (20:03):
Yeah, pretty much the
same way with the other ones,
and if you got the little boxalready for the other pedals,
add this one on and plug it upand oh, the same, the same
adapter okay for power.
Yeah, so nice, yeah, I thinkthis is a nice, nice addition.
Um, I guess 40 bucks maybe, ifyou've kind of got all the other
(20:26):
you know wishlist items on yourrig.
You're looking for something toadd a little extra razzle,
dazzle, you know, throw this inyour clutch and your your
throttle, you know.
But yeah, so that is the haptic.
And so now we'll take a look atsomething else that they have
been cooking up.
So a little while ago, in thespirit of the Neo, they came out
(20:51):
with their Neo wheel hub awhile back and this was like a
universal hub that allows you totake pretty much, you know, not
any wheel, but a lot of varietyof wheels and have a SIM hub,
compatible hub that you can kindof bolt onto them.
You can add clutches and youknow you get funky switches and
(21:14):
a lot of other inputs and stuffand you can do your.
You know Daniel Newman racingLED profiles on it.
And so now they've actually comeup with some pre-configured
options.
Jason (21:27):
Oh cool.
Erick (21:28):
And some new wheel types.
Jason (21:30):
Oh, that looks a lot
better than the first picture.
Erick (21:33):
Yeah, yeah.
Jason (21:34):
What's going on over
there?
Yeah, I see this.
Erick (21:37):
So this is.
They got kind of like theirlittle naming convention here.
This is the 330T option andthey have a couple others.
Here they have the 310G, whichis a I don't know what you call
this style wheel.
That looks pretty sporty.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm thinkingabout getting this, just because
right now all I have is the Neoand I have the GT1.
(21:59):
Whatever SimMagic's little kindof leather round wheel is, but
obviously the hub on that isn'tSimHub compatible, and so they
got some other options.
This is another one, so this isalmost like the updated version
of my wheel, just with a SimHubcompatible hub on it.
Jason (22:21):
So you see where it says
330?
That's the, the millimeter.
Yeah, yeah, the diameter.
So the r for around w, for theclick on the w.
I'm just, uh, or maybe, maybeI'm, maybe I have it wrong here
yeah, so this one, I know whatthis one in particular.
Erick (22:41):
I think this is supposed
to be more like a drift style
wheel yeah, it's dished, it's,yeah, it's dished yeah and um,
because people talking aboutdifferent configurations with
just the hub when they firstcame out, and some people were,
you know, coming out withdifferent ways.
You can mount the hub on a dishwheel, and so I guess somatic
said, hey, we'll give you oneout the box I don't like, I
(23:04):
don't like the way this looks atall.
Jason (23:07):
The other one looks way
better when you, when you put
the plate, when you put theactual wheel in front of the
plate oh yeah, not have the umis it like you know the the?
You know, yeah, because then ithides it kind of meshes with
the wheel.
Erick (23:22):
Yeah, it gives you that
kind of flush right there.
Yeah, and I don't do anydrifting, so I'm not sure.
Well, for drifting you don'treally need buttons.
Jason (23:35):
man, honestly, you need a
clutch and you need a e-brake.
There's really not many buttonsother than your headlights,
which I can see.
There's a headlight thing there, but there's not really much to
do to the car, you know.
Oh, here it is.
There's the details right there.
Jeff (23:54):
We're talking about new
Simagic gear, whether it be
haptics, a wheel or base orsomething.
I'm not sure there's anycompany that pushes out products
as quick as Simagic does.
Yeah, and a lot of this is justyou know it looks like similar
bases, you know with differentwheels plastered on, you know
(24:15):
mated to them, but nonethelessit's still just continuing to
push out stuff.
Erick (24:21):
Yeah, it's in my mind.
They're catering to theiraudience, which, at the price
point they're selling this stuffat, especially with the
steering wheels, kind of moreentry-level stuff, and so people
that might not have theknowledge to just buy a hub and
buy a wheel and go through thatprocess.
They kind of give you someout-the-box stuff Right, which I
(24:44):
think is cool.
Jason (24:49):
It depends what you're
looking for, right A hundred
percent.
Erick (24:52):
It depends.
Jason (24:55):
Yeah, but I'm curious
about this Because you have
Rally style right, which is, Iwould say, it's hard to say just
by looking at them.
I'd love to try them.
Erick (25:09):
And that's the thing too
like for the price, because the
Neo X Hub by itself is $200.
And so when you look at theprices of these wheels, like the
wheel in the hub, you knowleather-wrapped CNC aluminum,
you know leather wrapped um cncaluminum, you know they're not,
you know, crazy, especially ifyou just want to try something
(25:31):
this is probably going at thepeople like oh, I don't know if
it's compatible, this is just, Ican click this and it'll work.
Jeff (25:38):
I don't have to worry
about mating it.
You know adapters or anything.
You can just click it, it's atthe house, hook it up and you go
there's.
There's no like learning curve,if you will, when it comes to
compatibility.
Erick (25:49):
Yeah and you're.
You're in that ecosystem.
So if you got a sim magic youknow base already you got some
magic pedals.
The more options they give you,the more opportunities you have
to stay in that ecosystem aswell.
So you don't have to worryabout compatibility.
Or you know what hub do I haveto get, or you know stuff like
that.
I think it's you know they gota good business model.
Jason (26:11):
I think you get a leg up
by using a SimMagic hub.
If you want to stay in theecosystem because the hub is
powered, so then there's no wire, right, Unless you wanted to
use.
They need to figure that out.
Unless you wanted to use SimHub, then you would need to plug in
the USB.
Talk to me.
Erick (26:34):
Eric.
Jeff (26:35):
Talk to me.
Erick (26:37):
So I don't know when this
feature is going to enter the
final stages, but on the new setof bases that came out they did
say that they are working onwireless connectivity for
wireless PC connection for thewheels.
So you would need the Mag, NotMagSafe.
Jeff (26:58):
MagLink.
Erick (26:59):
Yeah, you would need the.
MagLink.
Jason (27:04):
So there is wireless
wheels out there.
I know asher makes somesemi-cube, has some prices gotta
go up, though yeah no, actuallythe price is very, very similar
.
It's like close to the sameit's.
The problem with wirelesswheels is that they run off
bluetooth and bluetooth can beinterfered.
There could be someinterference with it and they're
(27:27):
battery powered.
So I mean that's another thingthat you have to charge, which
I'm not a fan of, rob Markman.
Erick (27:33):
Oh, the wheels are
battery powered.
Oh, so they don't get enoughpower from the base to run the
wheels.
Jason (27:41):
If I'm not mistaken, the
wireless antenna is wireless,
but it needs to be charged youknow and if you plug it in, then
that just defeated you, justdefeated the purpose right there
by plugging it in you bring upa great point, yeah, yeah.
So if you're racing a 24-hourrace, I would be nervous as shit
(28:02):
.
Running a wireless wheel, youknow, rob Markman, oh yeah.
Erick (28:05):
That'd be wild.
Rob Markman Checks out.
Jason (28:07):
Rob Markman yeah.
Any glitch in the wheel or anyopportunity for the wheel to
just have a momentary disconnectcan be catastrophic.
Rob Markman yeah.
Jeff (28:19):
That's nothing to be
scared of, rob Markman, it's not
something to be thinking about, rob Markman.
Jason (28:21):
Yeah, there's nothing to
be scared about, rob Markman.
Erick (28:24):
Yeah, rob Markman, I'm
like man, I'm nervous just
thinking about you doing thatrace.
And Rob Markman, after like $18.
Jason (28:28):
Rob Markman, those are my
thoughts, though those are my
thoughts.
I'm pretty sure someonewatching this has a wireless
wheel and they're going to fightme to death saying that that's
never happened to me before andI've been sim racing 25, 100
years, rob years.
Erick (28:42):
That's right.
And it's never happened to me.
And more power to you.
Yeah let.
Jason, have it in the comments.
Let him know what yourexperience has been.
Jason (28:50):
I'm ready.
Erick (28:52):
If it's been great or if
it's been terrible.
Let us know that as well.
All right, yeah, but thatpretty much wraps up the Sim Hub
.
I mean the Sim Magic show.
I did the Sim Magic show.
I did have another little smalltopic to discuss.
You know LMU is having.
(29:12):
You know, have a little timeright now before, you know,
iracing comes and steals alltheir, all their glory.
But they are going to beleaving Early Access on July
22nd and they're going to begiving a couple of little
goodies.
They're going to be releasing acouple new cars the Mercedes
AMG LMGT3 and the Aston MartinValkyrie AMR, lmh.
(29:38):
That's a mouthful.
Jason (29:41):
Yeah, so that's good,
that is a mouthful man.
What good that is a mouthfulman, what?
Erick (29:46):
yeah, it is good and the
the car is a beast, um, at least
visually.
Anyway, I'll say that, and sowe'll put up a picture of the
car.
They didn't have the gt3mercedes on their site, they
just had like a.
I was like a clay model of itor like a non-textured,
(30:07):
non-finished model of it, but Ido have a picture of the
valkyrie which looks badass.
That's the only way to describeit really.
Jason (30:16):
So get that pulled up for
you guys, and I'll tell you the
LMU right now is not doing toowell.
They updated their tire model.
They did something to theirphysics.
I tried it the other day.
Erick (30:33):
Oh yeah, so it wasn't
just me.
Then I don't feel bad.
Jason (30:38):
I'm not a fan.
Guys, I got to be honest withyou I'm not a fan of this sim.
I got to be honest with you I'mnot a fan of this sim.
Go iRacing, be yourself, baby.
Jeff (30:48):
That thing is wicked
looking.
Erick (30:50):
Yeah, Like I said it's a
mean looking vehicle.
Jason (30:55):
Oh yeah, aston bro, aston
Martin shirt.
Right here, let's go.
Jeff (30:59):
Yeah.
Jason (31:00):
That green and neon, they
got that color scheme down.
Jeff (31:03):
That color combo is clean.
Erick (31:06):
Yeah, definitely looks
good and kind of piggybacking
off your experience with LMU.
I've heard great things aboutit.
That was why I kind of wantedto check it out, but for me the
force feedback has been great, right, I think a lot of people
oh, yeah, force.
(31:26):
Feedback is awesome Forcefeedback is but just kind of the
I don't know how to describe it, but just like the racing never
really.
Jason (31:38):
I think to me.
Erick (31:39):
I don't know if it's
different, because it's a
different style, different cars.
To me it's the braking.
Jason (31:44):
The braking.
Is really?
This game wants you to beoverly aggressive on the brakes
and it doesn't.
I think Morad, daniel Morad hecovered this on a video he made
a few months ago or weeks ago,and he said that he said that
same thing.
I'm feeling and I'm not takingit off of the guy's mouth or
(32:07):
anything but I went in therewith a blind, like you know, a
clean slate and said all right, let's see what the game is like
after a few months, because nowyou're telling me that the game
is ready for prime time.
So now I'm gonna expect a fullproduct very soon and everything
needs to work.
Every single thing needs towork, you know.
Jeff (32:29):
So we'll get back to you
on this, I promise those people
that, like lmu, though, will godown swing it.
They, they love it oh, I'mtelling you it's people that
you're.
It's kind of like you're all inor all out?
Yeah, yeah.
Erick (32:44):
And I guess, kind of
talking about the point of just
the different cars and thismight just be my lack of
experience what other I guess,if you like racing those types
of cars, what would be anothersim that you could kind of get
that same experience in?
Jeff (33:02):
Like prototype.
Is that what you're talkingabout?
Yeah, iracing has prototypes.
Jason (33:07):
It has all of them.
Jeff (33:08):
Do you have to be what
class?
Do you need a B license todrive prototypes?
I?
Jason (33:13):
think A.
Jeff (33:13):
Yeah A, so that's going to
keep a lot of people a barrier.
Jason (33:18):
Don't quote us on that.
There might be an event hereand there that allows you.
Jeff (33:23):
Does AMS too have some
prototypes?
Jason (33:26):
No, but we have IMSA bro,
we have IMSA series in iRacing,
which is essentially what we'relooking at here.
And yes, the answer is yes, Ithink AMS2 does have prototypes
in there, and AC content manager.
There's not a car you can'trace in AC.
Erick (33:46):
I've been driving the
hell out of it lately.
I've seen it in the backgroundbro.
Oh yeah, With mouth support, huhWith mouth support.
Jeff (33:55):
They bought like a decade
ago, that's it, I think.
Erick (33:59):
Gran.
Turismo has hypercars, sothere's really I'm having a hard
time Shout out to.
Gran Turismo has hyper cars.
So there's really I'm having ahard time Shout out to Gran
Turismo.
I appreciate that Jason?
Jeff (34:08):
Who said that I can't?
Jason (34:10):
believe.
Erick (34:11):
I said that.
Jason (34:12):
You know I take that back
100%.
I'm not all there to this week, guys.
You already know I'm not allthere, oh man.
Erick (34:21):
But yeah, so that's the
end of the good news for the
update.
So they did say they're comingout with a single player career
mode.
They said they're going to havesponsors, driver ratings, cash,
media options and some form ofinsurance.
And that'll come, they sayright now, Q1 2026.
Damn, so the game's notfinished.
(34:43):
So what are?
Jason (34:44):
you talking about.
Erick (34:45):
Is the game finished or
is it not finished, like?
Make up your mind bro.
Look, when you kind ofmentioned like hey, I'm
expecting a full finishedproduct, Right, it was kind of
like in my head like wait tillyou hear this.
And then they say they'reworking on a console version,
but that's at least a year away.
Jason (35:05):
Listen bro you go to a
restaurant.
You order food and they say thefood's ready, but they ain't
got steak.
And they tell you when the food?
Yeah, we got your food, but thesteak is going to take two
weeks.
Erick (35:17):
I'm going to go catatonic
on you, bro.
That's it.
Jason (35:20):
You just told me that the
food is ready.
Make up your mind.
Erick (35:27):
Two weeks.
No, we're still raising the cow.
Yeah.
That's raw, it's not evenbutchered.
Jason (35:35):
The cow is 100% grass-fed
, so we got them back there, but
the food's ready.
Jeff (35:38):
That's funny, your
potatoes.
We got those coming right up.
Jason (35:40):
We got those coming right
up.
That's wild.
I tell you that is the funniestshit I've heard in this entire
week.
It has to be, because you can'ttell me that something's done
and then plan.
You know what it is.
Is the sugar coating?
Um, what do you not sugarcoating?
Give me the word, er Eric.
(36:01):
What is it?
Jeff (36:02):
It's gaslight Shit pushing
.
Jason (36:07):
You know, when somebody
feeds you and they keep you
coming and it's a little bit anda little bit and a little bit,
oh, kind of spoon, feed youSpoon, yeah, like a slow drip,
here you go son.
Jeff (36:19):
Just enough to keep you
around.
Jason (36:20):
We got the good shit the
applesauce, your favorite but
that's coming in Q1 of 2026.
Jeff (36:26):
Yeah, we're going to catch
hell.
Erick (36:28):
We're in a drought.
Jeff (36:29):
Right now we're in a
drought.
We're going to catch hell fromthe LMU users here Come on.
Erick (36:33):
Oh yeah, I'm telling you,
I am ready, I am ready.
Jason (36:36):
Arms out, eye racing,
full toe.
We got everything, man.
We got it there.
It's been there.
I don't know, we got to add alittle spice to this, guys.
Chicane Podcast is straight, nochaser, so please leave hate
below.
Erick (36:54):
Yeah, we're people, we
got opinions, so that's just
kind of where we are.
Jason (36:58):
Okay, if I'm going to say
a good thing about it.
I think the sound of the carsis great.
I think the graphics areawesome.
I think there's many thingsthat they can improve on.
If we're going to compare LMUto how iRacing started, then
that's not a fair comparison, isit?
But LMU has the potential to beway better than what it is.
(37:23):
I will say that.
I will say that the game's notutter trash, don't get me wrong.
But if I'm going to put timeinto something, then I want it
to be as realistic as possibleand I want those skills to
translate to other Sims, if thatmakes sense.
If I'm just just gonna waste mytime, we're driving these cars
(37:46):
that feel off, they don't feelrealistic, and we're getting
information from real likedrivers that drive because none
of you most of you have neverbeen in a racing car.
Erick (37:55):
Let's just be honest with
each other, jason you never
drove a prototype you neverdrove I'm telling you, my
brother has one man making, justmaking assumptions out here.
Man, that's his commuter, bro.
Jason (38:08):
So it's all fun and games
, guys, but listen, at the end
of the day I got to end it witha positive note Drive what you
like If you love LMU.
If you're married to LMU, thenstay married.
I'm not telling you to doanything, but iRacing is a great
sim.
Acc is a great sim, and ifyou're married to LMU, then stay
married.
I'm not telling you to doanything, but iRacing is a great
sim.
Acc is a great sim.
(38:28):
Ac awesome sim.
Unlimited content.
Tell me that there's a limitwith it, because there is none.
So unlimited content.
You'll die before you have to.
You could try everything.
Jeff (38:42):
Or you'll run out of hard
drive space your computer.
Jason (38:44):
Computer's gonna explode
by the time you're done
transferring everything.
So, um, yeah, well, thanks,eric.
I really appreciate that andwe'll move over to the next
topic.
Jeff, what's up what you gotfor us?
Man want to have a live coachavailable on demand.
With Trophy AI, you'll be ableto practice with Mansell AI at
(39:04):
your convenience A real-timecoach in your headphones to
navigate and guide you throughthe track, helping you achieve
race pace.
This tool is awesome as itprovides full brake, throttle
and steering telemetry on screen, with a live review getting you
ready for your next big race.
Check links to Trophy AI in thedescription and also use
(39:24):
CHICAIN12 in all caps for a 12%discount.
Jeff (39:28):
All right, I think this is
kind of a great segue, with
Eric talking about Simagic and alot of More hardware okay.
Yeah.
So Simagic, like we justbrought up, is kind of
addressing a lot of thatentry-level market when it comes
to price point and what you'regetting.
So I was on the Facebooks thisweek and I think it was Facebook
(39:50):
or Instagram where I saw a DanSuzuki video where he was
talking about he got himself anew wheel and I'm going to share
it here because I thought itwas super interesting.
Because I thought it was superinteresting.
So it is Conspit.
They have a bunch of otherproducts, but this is the one
(40:10):
that kind of caught my eye thatDan Suzuki was talking about and
this is very, you know,neo-esque, if you will.
Jason (40:17):
What is that?
The 300?
What is it called again?
Jeff (40:19):
Yep, this is the GT300.
It's their new wheel that theyjust released.
And the reason I'm going tocome out right out the gate and
why I say that this is goingafter the neo is how much do we
say the name the neo is 300round 280 but then if you want,
you know, if you want sim hubsupport for the full 300, I
(40:40):
guess okay call, okay, call iteven so.
And the Neo is molded plasticor injected plastic, abs or
whatever we want to call it.
Jason (40:53):
Yes.
So there's some carbon in there, but it's not really you know
what I mean.
It's not 100% carbon, yeah.
Jeff (41:01):
So this wheel no plastic,
it's a carbon fiber base with
the screen and ready, 400 bucks, wow.
So you get your butterfly wheeland a small screen LED bars.
You got four rotaries, and I'mgoing to scroll through here and
kind of talk to a little bitmore, but just kind of give
(41:21):
everybody a good look over thisthing.
But this is actually like areal carbon fiber, which is
fairly surprising for a, a um Ido like the rotaries man.
Jason (41:31):
You see that rotary on
the, on the grips yeah, it's a
huge fan of that, yeah um, andyou know it's.
Jeff (41:39):
You'll see it's got the
three rotaries in the middle or
the excuse me theMultipositional switches.
Multipositional switch and themiddle one when you switch it
Jason, help me out here when youswitch it, and then you can use
the rotaries to work throughdifferent menus.
Jason (41:55):
Yeah, so it doesn't.
Yeah, it doesn't act like aninput, it acts kind of like a
toggle.
So it will toggle one button,it will toggle one switch.
There's a word for this, but Iwant to break it down, because
this is, this is our show I wantto break it down so you know
what you're doing.
So if you turn once, if youhave your switches, you
(42:17):
basically have that.
Looks like a 12 position, rightyeah?
I believe it is yes so 12o'clock and then six o'clock on
the bottom, whatever.
So if you want the second dialto control abs, then two other
buttons open up for that mapping.
So that's basically what thisis doing.
It's kind of like what my asherum does, and I think the neo
(42:41):
actually got an update later onin its life to be able to do
this type of functionality.
But the thing is that by usingthat middle switch you lose
functionality with that switch.
That switch is just.
It becomes a permanent,basically a toggle.
It becomes like a mode switchlike it says alright, this is
(43:01):
mode 1, ab, mode 2, ab and etc.
Etc.
So I love this setup.
It becomes like a mode switchLike it says all right, this is
mode one, ab, mode two, ab andet cetera, et cetera.
So I love this setup a hundredpercent, more than just having a
dial that's locked into onething.
You know what I mean that youmay or may not use often.
Jeff (43:16):
Right, yeah, so um, it
comes with two funky buttons on
each side or a funky switches, funky buttons, led bar on the
cross.
You do not get any ones on theside.
Erick (43:30):
Um, and also keep
scrolling here there's no speak
of the diameter of what you get,so it does look quite narrow.
Jeff (43:32):
I don't know it's.
It's hard to tell, you know, uh, in the picture it could, yeah,
it could be any of those.
Erick (43:37):
But it doesn't look a
little cramped.
I don't know how big thosedials are on the bottom, but
just thinking about kind of likeon a NIO but at the 300, it's
probably 300.
Jeff (43:47):
But the finish for a wheel
of this price point is pretty
solid here, gentlemen.
I mean, this is carbon fiberinlets and they're going to go
down too.
But here's the part that I wantto kind of talk to.
Here is what do they not showhere?
No SimHub compatibility.
Jason (44:07):
No way.
So it's.
Oh, what a fail, man.
When are people?
Jeff (44:13):
I don't want to say I'm
not gonna say it's not, but I
can't, I couldn't find it, itsucks.
Jason (44:21):
But can someone please
confirm?
If it is yeah?
Erick (44:24):
I would love to test the
hardware.
Jeff (44:27):
I just don't have it and
that's a showstopper for a lot
of people, right, but theyreally are a lot.
They're selling this carbonfiber like legit carbon fiber,
base and model and stuff, or thebase and the faceplate.
Jason (44:42):
You know here more, more
about the well, honestly, jeff
t300 300 might stand for.
I mean, I may be wrong, but itmight stand for 300 mil, you
know, because that's oh, fairenough gt wheels are typically
ideally in the 300 range, youknow plus or minus perfect 10.
Jeff (45:03):
Yeah, I mean that's pretty
cool, as you know that you
don't see that at the pricepoint for that.
Yeah, so that in aluminum yougot your base I think that's
cool man, because even thoughthe screen is tiny, I mean it.
Jason (45:18):
You still have a screen
for under for the price.
I mean I don't.
You can't really beat that forsimple info, and that's kind of
why it may or may not be-.
Erick (45:31):
Simplified compatible.
Jason (45:33):
Yeah, proprietary.
Because they wanted to build acustom dash for it to fit those
elements in there, if that makessense.
Jeff (45:40):
And that ratio of screen
is not one that you see often no
, you know what are we talkingmaybe an inch and a half, by
four maybe that looks like youknow one of those.
Jason (45:50):
I have one of those lap
timers or race logics yeah, oh
yeah and if that's what that'son there, that's really.
That's really small, even with20 wait.
Jeff (46:01):
Oh hold on this.
I missed this.
I apologize.
Erick (46:05):
Team here okay, you think
you put this all over the place
you, just you, that's we've
Jeff (46:12):
been sorry man why would
they hide this at the bottom?
Erick (46:17):
yeah, I don't know.
Well, you need, you need the,you need the link.
Jason (46:21):
You see that, yeah, which
is probably the standard.
Jeff (46:23):
You know link that most of
us are running.
It does, I'm sorry, I have seenit.
It's the nice cable that youscrew on the back and then it
works a coil and then it goesinto the PC via USB.
Erick (46:38):
So one thing I'll say
here that they're saying with
the SimHub support, is it justthe leds?
It didn't say screen, did it?
Yeah, it just said leds andtelemetry.
Jason (46:48):
So I'm pretty sure.
Erick (46:51):
Look at that yeah so look
at those look at those.
Um are those encoders likespecific to control the screen?
Jeff (47:02):
I there's probably like
menus and, and you know, sub
menus, that button click and youcan roll menu, Cause I think it
said it comes with sixdifferent dashes built in.
You know, similar to my soulpack has.
I don't use any of them, but ithas the option for them.
You can always.
Erick (47:20):
Yeah, that's how they're
saying purpose them, yup, yeah.
Jeff (47:24):
So, but I think this is
awesome.
Erick (47:33):
This is a decently priced
wheel with a lot of tech built
into it at a good price.
The more competition, thebetter.
Jason (47:37):
Honestly, conspit is
already known for quality stuff,
so this might be the Neo killer.
Jeff (47:49):
You have a three-inch
display, yeah.
Erick (47:52):
Which is Five bash pages
and more to come.
Jason (47:55):
Which is better than
nothing.
I mean, you get carbon fiberpaddles, you got the-.
Jeff (48:01):
So it just keeps going on
and I'm going to go back up to
the one of the pictures just sowe can kind of chat about it.
But uh, yeah, this is what I'vekind of have chalked up to
being like the, the neocompetition there for 100 bucks
more.
Is that a data point thatpeople are going to be like?
Jason (48:16):
oh you know, I would pay
I would pay the hundred dollars
more if I was shopping for aproduct like this, just because
of the dials on the grips and Ibelieve that on the backside of
the wheel there's buttons, soyou see where the exit button
and the pink button is.
There's actually touch buttonson the back that you could map
(48:40):
as….
Jeff (48:42):
Like DRS or whatever you
wanted, right push to pass drs
uh battery.
Whatever it is you want to do,because there's 110 buttons that
you can map obviously differentgo ahead.
Sorry, different combinations, like you were saying with yours
that you can you can, oh manit's endless, endless.
So anyways, I thought this wasa fairly.
(49:04):
I had never heard of Conspit, the company here, so I just
figured I'd bring it toeverybody's attention here.
And a great alternative to theNeo.
A little bit of extra cheddar, but nonetheless interesting.
Jason (49:19):
All right man.
So, conspit, if you'relistening, I would love to.
Any of us would love to reviewthis wheel and check it out here
in the studio.
But I mean, at this pointthat's really good, man.
We're seeing more stuff, we'reseeing more hardware come out.
Jeff (49:35):
I mean Send one to Daniel
Newman too, so he can build a
profile for it.
There it is, immediately there, you go there it is.
Jason (49:43):
If it's not supported,
already shout out if it's not
already yeah so all right, guys.
Well, it's that time, man.
What time it's that time thatwe skipped last week let's go
but it's that time for track ofthe week and it's yours truly.
So let me go ahead and share myscreen and get my notes up and
(50:04):
get the-.
Rob Markman.
Jeff (50:04):
What you got for us this
week big dog.
Jason (50:07):
Rob Markman.
I will tell you now.
I have my notes here.
Let me share it.
Once I share it, you shall see.
But it is Barber Motorsport andthis came by request, you know.
So by request of a follower.
If you guys would like aspecific track of the week, then
(50:31):
send us an email atthechicanepodcast at gmailcom
and if we haven't covered it orplanned, we might take that into
consideration.
Yeah, happily, 100%.
So let me my rig is going crazy, I know Before you get into
this.
Jeff (50:50):
What does this one look
like?
Because I have a clue what thisone looks like.
Erick (50:54):
Hmm.
Jason (50:58):
I usually, you know, I
flip my head.
Erick (50:59):
I don't know.
This one's kind of rough.
Jason (51:04):
I don't know this one's
rough man.
It is kind of rough, isn't it?
Jeff (51:09):
Looks like Barber
Motorsports.
That's what it looks like.
Jason (51:11):
Looks like a bone or
something.
Erick (51:13):
I don't know, All right,
oh yeah, I know, let's get it.
Jason (51:17):
Let me just skip ahead
here.
Erick (51:21):
Make sure my have a
little seizure over there.
Jason (51:25):
My rig is going to be
jumping up and down.
It is what it is.
So, all right guys, welcome toBarber Motorsport, a world-class
racing facility born from thesingle-minded vision of an
extraordinary man called GeorgeBarber.
Barber wasn't just abusinessman, he was also a
(51:45):
passionate racer.
In the 1960s and early 70s hecompeted in Porsche racing, all
while helped run his familydairy business in Birmingham,
alabama, alabama.
Jeff (52:02):
I might know somebody that
lives there.
Erick (52:04):
I know right.
Jason (52:05):
Okay, but George didn't
stop racing.
So he had his dairy business, but he was racing on his own
time.
His company had begunrefurbishing their dairy trucks
and at one point Barbara thoughtwhy not restore cars?
And the experiment didn't go asplanned.
As he put perfect to a truckmechanic is not the same as a
(52:28):
restorer, so the experience, however I was going to say
that's a direct path, right.
Erick (52:34):
Dairy trucks to race cars
right.
Jason (52:36):
Very straightforward here
.
The experience, however, ledhim to an idea that would change
everything.
A friend suggested motorcyclesinstead, and Barber took it to
heart.
It's like by mid-90s, georgeBarber had already begun
collecting motorcycles not justa few, but hundreds with a
(52:56):
vision to create the largestmotorcycle collection in the
world.
Erick (53:00):
That's a jump.
Jason (53:01):
That is quite, you know,
kind of crazy.
And more than that, he dreamedof building a museum that could
become a tourist destination forBirmingham.
In 1995, that dream started tobecome real.
1995, that dream started tobecome real.
Barber opened a small publicmuseum in a warehouse in
Birmingham's Southside District.
(53:23):
It showcased 325 motorcyclesand a few vintage cars.
But even then, it was clearthis was just the beginning.
The turning point came in 1998,when Barber sold the family
business, the Barber Dairies ifI'm saying that correctly and
donated $54 million to hisnonprofit foundation.
(53:47):
That funding allowed for theconstruction of a
state-of-the-art museum and aracetrack, a place where his
bikes and cars could run as wellas rest.
By 2002, a stunning 740-acresite had been secured in the
scenic wooded hills just east ofdowntown Birmingham.
(54:10):
Barber enlisted legendary trackdesigner Alan Wilson to create
the course, and the result?
Well, you already know One ofthe most technically refined,
beautiful landscape tracks inthe world.
Excuse me, wow, the Barber Roadcourse is two point and it
hasn't changed at all.
Jeff (54:29):
You see this, this is just
one layout, a little baby
compared to some of the othertracks.
Jason (54:35):
It's tiny.
Erick (54:36):
I mean like young, it's
young.
Jeff (54:41):
Yeah, yeah, well it.
Some of the other tracks it'stiny, I mean like young, young,
yeah, yeah, well it's.
I mean it doesn't have likeworld war ii heritage, heritage.
Jason (54:44):
I mean, the track is
technically tiny because it is
long, but it's compact yes, exactly, it's not really length
lengthy wise but it's 2.38 mileslong, with 17 turns and over 80
feet of elevation change.
It flows like a ribbon throughthe forest okay, okay, well,
(55:05):
undulating complex and andthrilling to drive.
There are two additionalshorter layouts used for
training and club events.
So this is this is what theyare.
So you just take this out andnow, now, this looks like a fake
foot.
You know one of those fakeprosthetic foot, rob Markman.
Jeff (55:25):
Okay.
Jason (55:26):
All right, rob Markman,
see the connection point and the
boot.
I don't know, rob.
Erick (55:29):
Markman yeah, either that
or a funky looking guitar,
maybe.
Jason (55:31):
Rob Markman oh, maybe,
yeah, Some Jimi Hendrix or
something.
And then you have the clubcircuit, which is it kind of
looks like the Canada GP to meShots.
I love my Canadians, so let me,let me.
Let me continue before.
So there are two additionalshorter layouts used for okay.
Erick (55:59):
Unlike traditional
circuits.
Jason (56:00):
There are no grandstands,
guys, guys, there are no
grandstands lining the mainstraight.
Instead, spectators gather ongrassy embankments and wooden
slopes, especially around turn 8and 11.
So that's around here somewhere.
8 and around here.
So this is where people like.
This is the chill spot, righthere and inside here, or or
behind it I'm pretty sure it wasbehind it, um where the view
(56:25):
spans multiple sections of thecourse.
It's a circuit when nature, artand speed all collide.
Barbara motorsport park is hometo a sculpture trail scattered
with oversized excuse me withbasically rare pieces, it says
(56:45):
here, from giant spiders anddragonflies to stone lions and a
mythic figure rolling a boulderthe huge spider sculpture near
turn five and six, which isright around here.
Jeff (56:59):
I didn't know there was a
museum built around this thing.
Jason (57:01):
Yeah, it's a museum, it's
a park, it's kind of and you
live, eric.
You need to go over there, bro,you might not be too far.
Erick (57:10):
He probably hears I'm
running.
Look, I'm an hour and a halffrom Birmingham.
Man, I didn't know that wasdown there.
I need to get out there yeah.
Jason (57:18):
So it says that, um, the
huge yep, I covered that.
And it says the, the, thespider, the huge spider.
That's, in turn, five and sixeven inspired the nickname
charlotte's web for that corner, and at the heart of it, all of
it is, you know, the museum.
It's spanning five floors and141,000 square feet.
(57:40):
The Barber Vintage MotorsportMuseum is certified by Guinness
as the largest motorcycle museumin the world.
Wow.
Jeff (57:50):
Sounds like a day trip.
Jason (57:50):
Eric, take the fam out
there.
You got some Guinness worldrecord an hour away from you,
bro's easy.
Over 1200 motorcycle cyclesfrom 20 countries and over 100
years of history are in thecollection, with up to 600 on
display at any time.
But motorcycles aren't the onlystars.
(58:12):
The museum also boasts thelargest collection of lotus race
cars anywhere in the world, including a replica of the Lotus
Mark I and the final FormulaOne car, the brand that.
The final Lotus Formula One car, the Lotus T109.
And nearly every vehicle in thebuilding is ready to run,
(58:36):
meaning they'll start.
Erick (58:39):
They're maintaining them
too.
That's big money.
Jason (58:41):
Rob Markman Jr.
That's a lot of maintenance,bro, Imagine.
Yeah, Barber's vision didn'tstop with collecting.
He wanted the machines in themuseum to live and breathe on
the track.
So it's no surprise that racingcame next.
Motorcycle series like AMA andWERA were among the first to
compete here.
Over time, the circuit expandedto host Grand Am sports cars
(59:07):
and, following successful testsessions, IndyCar made its debut
in 2010 and never looked back.
So that's part of the IndyCarlineup.
Barber is also a hub for drivereducation and racing schools.
They have the Porsche DrivingExperience, they have the Keith
Code California Superbike School, the Jamie James Yamaha
(59:30):
Champions Riding School and theKevin Schwantz Suzuki School.
All call Barber home.
So, whether you're a racer, afan or a collector, or just
someone who loves the raw of anengine and the curve of a
perfect turn, Barber MotorsportPark as a tribute to passion,
position and one man's dream ofsomething truly extraordinary.
(59:55):
So that's Barber MotorsportsPark.
Jeff (01:00:00):
All right, all right, wow,
I got a comment yes see we have
lap times, this, this.
Let's just back up a secondhere because this is worth
noting.
This dude delivered milk yes,he did and a couple years later
he donated $28 million $42million.
Jason (01:00:23):
It says here.
Erick (01:00:26):
Something's not checking
out $54 million.
Jeff (01:00:28):
sorry, this dude's
delivering something else.
Erick (01:00:31):
Hey look.
So I was going to say thatstory sounded very familiar to
another story I know about awhiskey maker named Clyde Mays.
Oh yeah, I like Clyde Mays, bro, that's good stuff and how he
started out doing the illegalwhiskey runs.
Jeff (01:00:51):
Basically he's doing some
moonshine runs yeah so On a
little money well on the sideoff the table, so I'm going to
or under the table.
That's a cool story man, yeah,I A little money all the side
off the table, so I'm going toor under the table.
That's a cool story man, yeah,I'm going to.
Somebody said hey, you shouldstart collecting motorcycles.
And this dude turns around andjust buys 100 or 300 something
motorcycles, doesn't it soundlike us though?
Jason (01:01:10):
Sim racing.
You should start sim racing andthen all of a sudden, we spend.
We're not spending nowhere nearthis guy.
This is it right here, barber.
See the museum and thestructures all around the track.
This guy is living the dream.
He's got over 3,000 vehicles inthis freaking place.
Jeff (01:01:33):
Hey Mike, what do you want
to go drive today?
I don't know how, about a 1972Lotus?
Jason (01:01:38):
How about a 59 Ducati bro
?
Erick (01:01:41):
And they're ready to go.
Jason (01:01:42):
That's crazy.
Ready to go?
Erick (01:01:43):
The maintenance piece is
Impressive.
Yeah, that's really Look atthis.
Jason (01:01:49):
Look at this.
Look at this Dude.
Look at this.
You're an hour away, bro.
I want to see pictures to seepictures.
Erick (01:01:55):
Look at them all, Bro.
That's crazy.
Jeff (01:01:59):
Bro, it's like a 1982
ninja right there.
Wow, look at them all.
That is badass you know what?
Jason (01:02:13):
Let's see, you got events
here.
You could probably get like amembership.
There's a membership optionright here.
I knew it.
Erick (01:02:23):
I am two hours away.
Jeff (01:02:24):
Look at that open wheel
down there.
It's on top of the elevator.
Bro, you could spend like twodays there and not see the same
thing.
I'm telling you they look fake.
They look like toys.
Yeah, they do have a littletoyish feel to them, huh.
Erick (01:02:39):
Yeah, it looks like this
little Hot Wheels thing I got my
kids.
The stores are little cars, allthese different slots and all
that stuff.
Jason (01:02:46):
That's crazy they got the
Barber Vintage Festival that's
happening in October, man.
Erick (01:02:53):
MW Motor Days.
Jason (01:02:55):
Isle of Triumph.
So guys, check out.
This was a shout out to I think.
I don't want to mess up hisname.
I think it's Papa Tonto thatrecommended this track for us.
He's in the Global RacingLeague, so shout out to you.
This was interesting.
(01:03:16):
We actually raced in Barber andmy PC is having a heart attack.

check this out.
But that's track of the weekthis week.
That's Barber Motorsport.
Thanks.
Jeff (01:03:29):
Jason Cool story.
Jason (01:03:31):
I think, yeah, man, I
mean listen, you can't knock on
the guy.
We don't know where all thismoney came.
I know where it came from.
But come on, Barry man, Shootstraight with me, bro.
He went and bought 100motorcycles, God Easy.
Jeff (01:03:47):
After donating $40
gajillion.
Jason (01:03:49):
Yeah, I'm like $54
million man Come on.
Erick (01:03:53):
So the thing that's kind
of got me he donated the money
and they built the track, butwho did he donate it to?
He said he donated it to somenonprofit.
Jeff (01:04:03):
Yeah his nonprofit To
build a track it's to himself,
bro.
Erick (01:04:07):
It's questionable.
Jason (01:04:09):
He donated the money.
That was kind of part of thejoke here.
Erick (01:04:13):
He donated the money.
Jeff (01:04:15):
Because they didn't have
to pay taxes on it or something
like that.
Probably Good for him.
Jason (01:04:19):
Come on, don't give out
the secrets here, man.
Good for him.
It's non-taxable, bro.
It's a donation.
What are you talking about?
Jeff (01:04:27):
And tax deductible.
Yeah, man Deduct that from yourincome.
Jason (01:04:31):
That's it, don't tell me
that's it All right, gents,
that's track of the week.
I always love doing these.
If you guys have anysuggestions, we're open to those
.
Send us an email atthechicanepodcast at gmailcom
and we'll roll into our finalroundtables Anybody have
(01:04:54):
anything else before we closethis episode?
Jeff (01:04:55):
Nothing here man.
Nothing here man.
Jason (01:04:58):
Drive fast and break late
.
That's what's up and, guys,stay tuned.
Nim cross has confirmed that hewill be attending the chicane
podcast sometime in july, sojust hang tight, he's very busy.
He told me yeah, I'm super busy, man, I'm going to the, to the
glen, so I can't make it.
I, I was like I wish I wasgoing to the Glen, bro.
(01:05:20):
So, nymcross, thank you so much, and we do have.
I do want to add one more thingbefore we give a hard shutdown
here.
We've got an email from Chris.
David Bezelkit and stuff is thetitle of this email and it says
(01:05:40):
jason, thanks for a greatpodcast.
Well, thank you, sir.
I'm following you guys onyoutube and I'm curious how you
get triple screens ad linkedtogether.
Perhaps you've covered it onthe show.
I'm racing mostly gt7 and ACCon console, but starting to get
a basic setup to seat IR racing, add ACC on PC.
(01:06:01):
So he's basically transitioningor he wants to transition to PC
and run at triples.
There are so many questions Ihave, but I'm getting there as I
watch the show.
Thanks again, greetings to Ericand Jeff.
(01:06:24):
Chris, so how do we knock thisone out, guys?
How do you connect?
How do you get triple screensto come together, so you need a
stand, you need a monitor standand I would highly, highly,
highly, highly highly recommendthe SimHub Varios.
They will make your life adream.
(01:06:46):
Yes, yeah, 100% Because there'sprobably something else out
there as well, but I mean, I'vepushed two folks already over to
SimHub excuse me, simlab andthey've been great.
They're also a Mercedes partnertoo, yeah they are.
So they're a patronus part ofthe patronus family.
(01:07:10):
So, Chris, thank you so muchfor your email.
If you want any more specifics, just hit us up and.
I'll be glad to walk youthrough.
Jeff (01:07:18):
You want to have the bezel
kit real quick for him.
The bezel.
Jason (01:07:21):
Oh, yes, the bezel kit,
um, so you have many options
right With the bezel kit andwithout mentioning names.
One of us tried to go the Etsyroute and found out that
sometimes it's better to spendthe money you know first go.
(01:07:41):
But they are really expensivefor what they are.
Jeff (01:07:44):
It's unbelievable for what
you get, but just buy the
expensive one first.
As somebody that tried to savesome money with the bezel free
kit, it's right here.
You can see it on my rig.
It doesn't look good unlessyou're sitting in the rig, like
Jason has a better angle on hisrig over his shoulder.
It's your eye angle is what itdoes.
Jason (01:08:03):
And the camera is still.
When you look at things oncamera, it looks different.
When you find there's aparallax effect too, depending
on the angle.
Jeff (01:08:12):
It's all magic, how it
works.
Right, so get ready, becausethat is the biggest pain in that
it's like half a millimeter ofdistance that the thing has to
just sit perfect in, and thenit's like seamless.
Jason (01:08:29):
Yeah, but if you breathe?
Jeff (01:08:30):
wrong.
You can start to see the seam.
You clean the rig or something.
Jason (01:08:35):
Your kid maybe tapped the
monitor very lightly.
The whole thing is screwed up,but it is cool.
Jeff (01:08:41):
It is cool, yeah, it is.
Jason (01:08:44):
So, chris, if you have
any more specifics, just let me
know.
Let us know, email the show ordrop a comment below.
We'll be glad to point you inthe right direction.
There's also Sim Racing Setupson Facebook, which is a group
that I highly recommend you joinif you're expanding on your
setup and then you can kind ofget ideas from other sim racers
(01:09:08):
out there.
You know it's about 140,000 ofthem, so yeah, a couple guys in
there.
There's a few people in there.
All right, guys, and with that, thank you so much and have a
great start of your week.
Thank you.
