Jason (00:34):
This episode is brought
to you by Trophyai.
We discuss all things in thesim racing world.
I'm your host, jason Rivera, and I'm joined here by Mr Eric
Kelly and Jeff Smart.
How's everybody doing today?
Erick (00:45):
Doing good man Over here
trying to stay dry and getting
ready for this new heat wavecoming through.
But outside of that we're doinggood.
Jeff (00:51):
It's that summer in the
South starting up.
Jason (00:55):
Yes, sir, it is here.
Jeff (00:58):
Another week down, another
week closer to the Expo, let's
go.
This is correct.
It's like that start where youcan like see it in the horizon
and you're like, dude, it'salmost like you can almost start
a countdown.
But we're kind of there, right.
I don't want to wish the summeraway but there he goes it's
kind of like right there.
I mean it's is.
Is it any really different forus out here not to you know, uh,
(01:20):
flex on the, on the, theweather, but uh it it's kind of
82 to 85 year round, maybe justrains a day or two, see extra.
Erick (01:32):
See y'all done.
Went down to Hawaii and gotsoft.
Jeff (01:34):
Y'all don't know what it
is anymore, 100%.
Jason (01:38):
Yeah, man, 70 degrees and
below is cold.
That's too cold, I ain't goingoutside?
Jeff (01:44):
Yeah, I am not going
outside, man.
That's too cold, I ain't goingoutside.
Jason (01:46):
Yeah, I am not going
outside, man.
That's what's up.
Erick (01:49):
Well, bring your parka.
Huh, I said, make sure youbring a parka in Chicago then.
Jason (01:54):
Oh yeah, I'm ready, Look
I'm rocking one right now.
This is what I'm going to berocking over there.
Well, who knows, I'll probablyI, jason.
Jeff (02:01):
We'll get to wear a hoodie
and stuff.
Hoodie and jeans and stuff.
I haven't worn jeans in.
I don't even know the last timeI wore jeans.
Jason (02:08):
Don't close it Brand new
right now.
It looked like you just boughtthem.
Erick (02:13):
Oh man, I'm jealous.
Jason (02:15):
Eric?
How was your week, brother?
What's going on with you overthere, man?
Erick (02:19):
My week went good, man.
I did get to watch y'all's race, the 24-hour Nurburgring.
I feel bad calling a race,because it's almost like a
torture test.
Jason (02:32):
That was 24 hours of hell
.
That's what that was.
Erick (02:36):
Y'all made it look easy,
man, but it inspired me.
I know we talked a little bitbefore.
I had not purchased theNurburgring in iRacing yet, and
so I actually went ahead andbought it and went ahead and
wrapped, you know, ran the carto a couple of walls and stuff
like that, just to get thingsgoing, man.
Jason (02:57):
Yeah.
Erick (02:58):
I have not completed a
lap yet without destroying the
car, but but yeah it's.
It's given me something I cantell it's going to be something
I do in my spare time, justtrying to get better.
I'll tell you what that's agood track.
Jason (03:12):
to straight up, it has
everything to practice on.
If you could push there, youcould push anywhere.
In my opinion, it has something.
Maybe it doesn't have the tightchicane into another chicane,
like slow speeds, but it's avery, very, very fast track, bro
(03:32):
.
Erick (03:33):
And when you do it for 24
hours, bro, you start seeing
stuff I can't imagine, especially because all of my Nür
, my nerve agreeing experiencehas essentially been in gt7 and
so just the differences in likeelevation, like they're, you
know, obviously, places in gt7where you can go flat out and,
(03:56):
yeah, trying to take that samecar on, uh, the nerve agreeing,
and I racing, and it's like, ohyeah, your tires are no longer
on the ground, you're expectingto be glued to the ground,
you're expecting to have autoaero Down force.
Physics exists here.
Once you go over this littlehump now, your tires are on the
(04:18):
ground.
You can't be in the area andturn.
Jason (04:20):
at the same time, eric
Carley has left the chat.
That's it Disconnected.
Yep Instant and Jerry.
Erick (04:25):
Carely, has left the chat
.
That's.
It Disconnected Yep Instantback to the pits.
Jason (04:30):
I'll give some sort of
summarized thing that happened
this weekend and our lastepisode.
We were talking for the future.
I had no idea what was at stakehere.
I'm good at the track, butthere's a clear difference which
(04:52):
we will get into.
Don't spill the beans.
But I'm glad you bought it.
I'm glad you bought it becauseit's a great track.
It's used many different events.
They got the Rainmeister, theygot the 24 hour, they have GT
racing there.
(05:12):
It's all over the place and itcomes.
It's got like three or fourconfigurations right, so
combined you can race all ofthem.
So it's kind of cool.
Erick (05:20):
Rob Markman.
Yeah, I'll say this, it was 35bucks just for the track, rob.
Jason (05:26):
Mark, it's that much, huh
.
Erick (05:28):
Yeah, that was-.
Jason (05:30):
That was a jab to the gut
.
You'll be all right.
Erick (05:33):
Yeah, but I've forgotten
about it already.
Jason (05:37):
There you go.
Erick (05:40):
Now I have a new
challenge on my hands, so, yeah,
it's definitely worth it.
Jason (05:44):
What did you take on the
track?
Erick (05:47):
The Porsche that you guys
race in.
The Porsche yeah.
Jeff (05:51):
The P-Cup.
Let's start with somethingdifficult, yeah.
Erick (05:55):
Well, so the thing is I'm
most familiar with the GT3.
If I try to take that BMW M2out there, man, I'm just going
to oh no, get bored.
Jason (06:01):
You'll be on the straight
for like 20 minutes that long
straight.
You'll fall asleep.
I won't make it to the straight.
Erick (06:08):
And that BMW I won't make
it to the straight just because
, having learned that car, andthat car takes a lot more
finesse with the Porsche Atleast I can slow down and kind
of drive carefully and it won'tkill me.
But with that BMW it's like, oh, you're going straight and the
(06:31):
weight balance is weird.
Jason (06:32):
That's it.
Erick (06:33):
You hit a hump and the
back end is going that way, and
now you're back in pits.
I'll tell you man.
Jason (06:39):
We did a race before the
24-hour event.
We did a GRL race at theNürburgring in the P cup and it
was raining when we did it, sothat was a good practice, but we
didn't run.
I'll get into the.
I'll get into the details soon, jeff.
How was your week man?
Thanks, eric.
Jeff (06:59):
It was good man.
I've been super busy.
Work's been absolutely crushingme.
I don't know if you guys hadthe IndyCar, since it was no F1.
Indycar was at Detroit, but theIndyCar didn't take the news of
Detroit, the F4 cars.
I don't know if you gentlemenhad a chance to see the I use
(07:23):
parent the air quotes race, but, dudes, it was exactly how you
think.
So it's a road course right, super narrow, exactly how you
think an i-racing f4 d-classrace would be on a super narrow
street course.
Oh, my god, bro, this is noword of a lot.
I will, I will.
(07:44):
We'll put a link into theincident I'm talking about in
description.
There was a crash in the secondcorner and another crash,
another crash and it stopped therace.
Jason (07:55):
It's blocked the track,
all cars, oh I think I seen a
dominoes, a highlight, or?
Erick (08:03):
something that was recent
.
I thought that was like someblooper reel from something.
No that just happened Wow.
Like is this Idiot of the Weekin?
Jeff (08:13):
iRacing.
Jason (08:14):
Yeah, oh no.
Jeff (08:15):
It's actually a real F4 in
Detroit.
Jason (08:18):
Oh, wow.
Jeff (08:21):
It was like, exactly like
an F4 D-Class race would be.
Jason (08:26):
And you're like not much
different.
Jeff (08:27):
Maybe we don't have
anything to really complain
about.
This is how it is in realracing, but uh, yeah, I was.
Jason (08:34):
It sucks for everybody
involved, uh, but it was
entertaining for us that werewatching it well, yeah, I mean
you're trying to find thatsomething to cure the fix of not
having a formula one race hey,you got that right.
Jeff (08:48):
You got that right.
And then more people aretalking about this than the
indycar.
I don't even know who won theindycar.
I don't know who won that fourrace either, but it was a cool.
Like I don't say cool, that'snot the right word, but uh, it
was a highlight it was, got ustalking about it, or or a low
light, yeah, yeah, a low light.
Jason (09:05):
Well, that's what's up,
man.
Jeff (09:07):
How was?
Jason (09:08):
yours Well.
Jeff (09:09):
Without spilling the beans
.
How was yours yeah?
Jason (09:12):
Well, I'm having trouble
adjusting back to a regular
sleep schedule because of thisrace and I'll get into that, but
other than that it's been agreat week, got a lot done.
Thank you guys again for allthe hard work, and you know what
I mean when I say that.
We put some new stuff in placefor the show to keep it running
(09:33):
more efficient, and it's working.
So thank you.
I want to say thank you here infront of everybody.
And now the green hill 24-hourrace Achievement unlocked,
basically.
And now the green hell 24 hourrace achievement unlocked,
basically ever since I startedsim racing and I'm quoting the
man, the myth, the legend, uh,michael from the sim racing.
(09:55):
Then we have the same insight, and it's ever since I started
sim racing.
Um, this has been a goal for mewas to participate in one of
these, because it used to be melooking at these streamers and
wishing I had a team to go andor the time, or the equipment,
or the pace, all of it, alltogether, to participate in an
(10:19):
event like this.
And it happened, and ithappened fast, meaning the
preparation.
I mean there was little to nopreparation.
Rob Markman, what preparation?
There was no preparation.
We had shout out to my boy, mark Thompson AKA.
He streams.
He has many names Bruiser King, sorry, and Pixel Busters.
(10:46):
I think he has like two brands,so shout out to him.
He built a spreadsheet at thelast minute.
He even added the Hawaiian timezone so people can understand
where the hell I'm at.
And we started filling in theslots.
We started filling it up and Iwas getting excited and one of
us canceled and one of uscanceled.
(11:07):
So I hit up one of my friendsthat we race with in the Global
Racing League, but he's a prodriver.
This guy is way faster than us.
His I rating is higher.
So I reached out to him and Isaid listen, man, I didn't want
to reach out to you because I'mnot as fast as you, but right
(11:28):
now I'm kind of in a corner.
Right now we need somebody toopen up this race.
And he was so cool man.
Shout out to Gene.
You know who you are tooAnother Puerto Rican brother.
So he was all for it.
He said dude, don't worry aboutthat, we're going to go over
there, we're gonna kill it.
So then we started doing somepractice and I started following
(11:49):
him and I was maybe a secondoff his best.
So I was kind of really excitedand happy.
Yeah, I was really yeah, at theI started out in the high 835s,
then I went down to 8031, then Iwent down to an 825 in the
actual event, which was a 10second gain.
(12:09):
So I don't know how, maybe it'sjust practice or just
repetition and, yeah, knowingthe track, because it's really
knowing the track yeah, it'sknowing the track, and then
we're racing a gt3 car.
So the gt3 car allows for morespeed, it allows for more, more,
it wants more and you thinkyou're not going to make it, but
(12:30):
somehow the car makes it, whichis what makes them special.
And it's rather controversialbecause we race P-cups and
P-cups.
There's always that person thatraces P-cups that's saying, oh
man, peacups.
Where the challenge is, if youcould drive a Peacup, you could
drive anything.
So now my views on that havechanged a little, because we
(12:55):
have professional drivers thatrace Peacup had to learn or not
learn, but had to practice on aGT3 car, which you would think
the opposite, right.
And he's like yeah, this car isasking for more speed, more,
and I don't.
Our braking points, a hundredpercent different.
Everything, slip, angle, weighttransfer, everything about it
(13:18):
is a different animal.
And doing that with cars ontrack is another different
animal.
So anyways, fast forward.
We practice, got a grouptogether, our first.
The start was at 9 pm localtime and we put our fastest
driver, which was Gene, in thecar.
So Gene qualified.
I think it was 39th Excuse me39th place out of the 60 teams,
(13:47):
out of the 1,000 teams totalthat signed up for this event,
wow.
Erick (13:52):
Okay, okay, yeah, that
went zero to 100 real quick yeah
.
Jason (13:59):
The fraction started
adding up there.
Erick (14:01):
Yeah.
Jason (14:01):
So we started the race, I
started the stream, everything
was going well, had a littleglitch in the beginning and he
gets taken out.
Lap one gets taken out, lap one.
We got a seven minute uh,damage repair in the pits.
Jeff (14:20):
Oh, so you didn.
So you got taken out.
Jason (14:23):
Yeah, he got pushed into
a wall and then Like heavy
damage.
Jeff (14:28):
Yeah, it was on turn one
too.
Jason (14:31):
Turn one, somebody came
out of respect and put a BMW
into our Porsche.
Jeff (14:37):
That sucks Like you can't
win the race in the first corner
, right, but you can sure ruinit for a bunch of people.
Jason (14:43):
Yeah, and it was him, it
was only Gene and I, everybody
else.
It was like two, three o'clockin the morning for everybody
else.
So I'm like, okay, so I'mtrying to be there for him too.
And A, I got to start thestream and I need to be there
for him.
Mark was there for a little bitand I said don't worry about it
, the main goal here is survival.
We're just trying to.
(15:03):
We're not top split.
We qualified in the mid pack, but then we lost the mid pack.
So then I think we ended uplike P47 or P48 after that.
And okay, so two hours later Itook the wheel.
I gained 14 positions on mystint.
I don't know how.
(15:24):
Yeah, boy, I don't know how?
Erick (15:24):
Yeah boy.
Jason (15:25):
I don't know how I did it
.
Jeff (15:26):
Chicane podcast coming for
you.
Jason (15:27):
Good for you, buddy 825
was my fastest lap there 825?
.
Yeah, aliens were doing 818,819, and then the odd 813, which
was like I don't know it waslike a 7, 8,000 eye rating or
something, something stupid.
Jeff (15:45):
But you were saying you
were doing that as, like, your
fastest lap, though Pretty closeyeah.
Jason (15:49):
That is my all time
fastest lap without draft.
Jeff (15:52):
And you're doing it with
20 and it's you know so you're
not like on the edge, especiallyin a 24, like, so you must've
been feeling it, dude.
Jason (16:00):
That was completely.
One of the laps was completelyon edge, like tires were.
Yeah, tires were scraping.
You can go back and watch thereplay.
Tires were scraping the grass, they were scraping each corner.
I connected really well.
I think Neil the top shotterwas there watching me.
He was, it was maybe he'sprobably like ah, he, he, yeah.
(16:24):
So I ended up being maybe, maybe close to I don't know,
maybe three, four o'clock in themorning.
He got up super early, wasmaking coffee, gene was racing
from Vegas.
So by the time he got off, didquality, did practice.
It was five o'clock in themorning for him when he went to
bed and that's the thing he saidI'm going to bed.
(16:47):
And I said the same thing whenI gave up the car to Neil.
I could not sleep, I couldn't.
I was dreaming about corners.
Yeah, I was dreaming aboutcorners and cars and the track
and the track and the track andworried about the stream, or
what if this person's pc crashesor whatever.
Yeah, so I mean just tosummarize uh, all three parts
(17:13):
are up, uploaded on youtube.
You can go and skim through andcheck it out.
But one of the most interestingthings happen to us.
So a guy named Nim Cross joinsour stream on Twitch and I had
no idea who this person was.
Right, nim Cross.
I'm like, okay, what's up, nimCross, how you doing?
(17:34):
And he was very humble and hewas asking me why are you going
to sleep?
You should be drinking, youshould be going to the store
getting five, five hour energiesand staying up.
And I said, dude, I'm almost 40.
He's like I'm 59.
(17:54):
So then, so Gene is stillhanging out.
And Gene is like, wait a minute, I know that name named Nim
Cross.
He is an official iRacing chiefengineer.
The iRacing chief engineer wasin our street, wow, yeah, and we
were joking because our skin, our bumper, had a chromed out
(18:16):
bumper and it was really bright.
And we were like, yeah, man,we're just trying to throw
people off.
You didn't get too close andyou'll blind you and he put some
emojis on.
He was laughing.
So after I found that out, Iinvited him to attend onto the
Chicane podcast and he gladlyaccepted.
Oh man, that's awesome, let'sgo.
So Nim Cross will be comingonto the show to give us insight
(18:41):
and sometime after he left mystream, a team called.
What is that name of that team?
Eric?
What is that name?
Something with Verstappen?
Huh, what is the name of thatteam, bro?
Someone got disqualified, Iheard.
I heard on the radio.
Jeff (18:58):
Red Spot, red oh.
Jason (19:01):
Red Line, right Red Line,
yeah, so team Red.
Erick (19:03):
Line.
Jason (19:03):
They have no snackline,
right it was Redline, redline.
Erick (19:06):
Yeah, so Team Redline,
that was my foo huh.
Jeff (19:08):
Say it ain't so.
Jason (19:09):
So Nim Cross was the
actual person to.
If Nim, if you're here, correctme if I'm wrong, but I've
watched many YouTube videosafter the incident happened with
them and it was Nim Cross thatstewarded what happened and
(19:31):
found a discrepancy and straightup disqualified them.
Oh yeah, they started the pits.
Yeah, go ahead, jeff.
Jeff (19:38):
No, it's because.
So I mean, I don't know whathappened in the background, but
everything I watched said thatthey withdrew, so maybe Nim
Cross was like.
You got two options here, fellas you can get disqualified
or you can withdraw.
I'll let you decide.
Jason (19:55):
Yeah, you can withdraw
yourself from this race.
So what happened in a nutshelland probably Eric has more
details about it, but in anutshell is that they started
the race from the pits and theyput wet tires on on a bone dry
race.
And the reason why they put wettires on was because the wet
(20:18):
tires are thicker tire, so itallowed for them to drop the
ride height lower than what waslegally allowed on the dry tire.
So their plan was yeah, we'lldo a lap, come in and switch to
the dry tire and drop down thecar and get a five second.
I don't know how many seconds, but get like a five second.
Uh, gain every single lap.
(20:42):
So it was a loophole that theythought they found, but all
three of them went into the pitsat the start of the race all
three.
Jeff (20:49):
Yeah, you know it's
interesting because I was
watching videos and they saidthat if they did a lap and then
went into the pits it would havebeen fine.
Now I don't know if that's trueor not, but there's nothing
like bringing attention toyourself than, like one of the
top five premier teams in all ofiRacing starting in the pits.
Jason (21:08):
Yeah, Like why are you
starting?
In the pits.
Jeff (21:12):
Why are you on?
Jason (21:12):
a wet tire first of all,
and yeah, it was very, very.
We didn't know about this, wewere racing.
Jeff (21:19):
Yeah, you got your head
down.
Literally we were hammered downLike yeah you got your head
down.
Jason (21:23):
Literally.
We were hammered down.
It was kind of dope.
The stream was kind of awesome.
Midstream we'd have updateslike yo.
This team, gecko, is two placesahead of us.
They're on their second stint.
We had all kinds of stuff.
Jeff (21:38):
It was as an outsider,
jason, it was cool because I
know Eric and I dropped incombined maybe six times and it
was cool to hear you guystalking and communicating to the
dude that was driving over.
Hey, you know we bumped up thelast you know session driver,
bumped up you know this manyplaces and talking about how
many laps you got in the thingand average lap times and
(22:01):
especially like giving peoplethe driver the SA of somebody
who's coming up behind them.
You know it looks like they'redriving on the edge.
Just don't take the risk andjust let them pass let them go
right.
Jason (22:12):
It's not worth, you know,
battling yeah, we've been here
for like 18, 15 hours.
Jeff (22:17):
Yeah, definitely, and it
was super cool to see like the
whole team doing this thing, notjust passing it off and
everybody goes and does theirthing, Right?
Jason (22:28):
No, it was really it was
really good, man, because we had
a race engineer.
That's any of us.
And let's say, jeff, you'redriving the car and you're
getting ready to pull in the pitstops and to the pit stop,
excuse me.
And I'm the next driver and Iwant tires and I want full tank
gas.
Instead of making you do thatin iRacing, you can actually
(22:50):
take control of the person'sbutton box and start clicking on
the tires, start setting thefuel If there's a particular PSI
on the tire you want.
We were looking at everythingthe weather.
We were looking at everythingthe weather.
We were looking at radar.
We were looking at how farahead, um, our closest, if the
guy behind us was faster, orlike legitimately a race
(23:14):
engineer.
Jeff (23:15):
Yeah, yeah, like sitting
at the sitting in the pits
looking at your data wall andthe debt you know your data that
you've compiled over the lasthour hours.
It was cool to watch.
It really was just hearing youguys interact and stuff like
that.
The guys were awesome.
Jason (23:30):
They helped me out so
much While I was away.
They took care of the stream.
They answered questions.
Roy Wheeler.
Jeff (23:38):
I saw you dropped in I saw
you dropped in.
Jason (23:41):
Roy didn't just drop in.
Roy was with us 90% of the timeand you know, what he did.
I think we had like two orthree hours left to complete
this race.
And he says guys, I got to go,but I'm setting up my alarm
clock so I can get up and watchyou guys finish the race.
That's legit.
Jeff (24:01):
Roy Wheeler Shout out to.
Jason (24:03):
Roy Roy kept us alive.
He kept us engaged.
Shout out to Roy Roy, kept usalive, he kept us engaged.
Shout out to Nimcross and shoutout to Michael from the Sim
Racing then, because after therace, he left a message that I'm
going to share with you all.
I'm going to read it to you andit says Achievement Unlocked
iRacing 24-hour NERBR complete.
This weekend I checked off amajor sim racing bucket list
(24:27):
goal, competing in and finishinga 24-hour endurance race
alongside my team, sim RacingCoalition.
That's the name of the team wecame up with SRC, and it's the
coalition of.
It's the unison of brands, different brands together.
So we had Neil Severin Jim XSim Scene.
(24:52):
He actually made the skin tothe car Of course he did.
Hit him up on Insta if you'relooking for a skin.
We have Bruiser King, which isa Twitch streamer.
We had Michael from the SimRacing then and you had TGSR
here, so we crossed the line at32nd place in the annual iRacing
24 Hours Nürburgring, One ofthe most grueling endurance
(25:16):
events out there, combining theGP and the Norse Life layouts
with eight to nine minute laptimes and multi-class chaos.
Yeah, because we had GT3s, GT4s, P-Cup, TCR and BMWs on the
same track.
Jeff (25:33):
It was chaos, dude.
There were cars there.
When I dropped in, it seemedlike there were cars everywhere.
Go ahead.
I'm sorry to interrupt.
Jason (25:38):
Freaking cars everywhere.
Bro, he said we raced in aPorsche 911 GT3R wrapped in a
custom livery by our own NeilSeverin.
There he is again Gen X SimScene, and every teammate played
a crucial role.
So Jason Rivera GGSR forstreaming the full 24 hours and
being a rock behind the wheel.
Gene William Rivera set us upfor success with a strong quali
(26:02):
and ran one of the hardestopening stints Because he did.
He did.
Mark Thompson managed logistics, driver stints, fuel
calculators and still laid downclean laps.
John DeWayne this is anotherguy.
John DeWayne is a 5.1 I rating,but in the Mazda MX-5.
Jeff (26:22):
What.
Jason (26:22):
And he took this car.
Oh yeah, he put it down, he's aweapon in the Mazda series,
delivered some of the cleanestand fastest laps, like I think
his fastest lap was like in the820, low 820s, like he was
flying bro.
Neil Severin gave us style andspeed with his livery and steady
driving.
(26:43):
And yours truly, let's just saymy first stint in the pitch
black was rough, but I bouncedback with a strong, clean second
run.
So I have to add one more, david Crossan.
He is a follower, a listener ofthe Chicane podcast.
He joins the GRL, he's an MX5driver and I reached out to him
(27:03):
and said would you like to bepart of this?
And he said yes, and he's likeI don't have my C license.
And it was a minimum C license.
He said I don't have my Clicense, I'm on travel.
The guy gets off a plane, hedrives maybe five or six hours
straight, gets a C license, thenhe dumps three more hours into
(27:25):
a car that he just purchased thesame day.
Jeff (27:28):
Yeah, yeah, that dude's
sleeping right now.
Jason (27:31):
And you know what?
He went from a D 4.0, whichbumped him up to a C 3.45.
And now he's a C 4.99, which isover 4.
You can't get any higher thanthat so all he has to do is
participate in one more race, and this guy jumped from a D
(27:52):
class to a B class In like fourdays.
Erick (27:56):
The way he was driving.
I believe it, man.
Jason (27:58):
So shout out to David
Crosson.
Jeff (28:00):
Whenever he wakes up,
he'll be in B class.
Jason (28:04):
And then it says huge
thanks to this amazing group of
drivers and friends.
We may have not been thefastest team out there, but I
guarantee no one had more funthan we did.
I'd go to war with these guysagain in a heartbeat.
So thank you so much, michael, for the kind words.
Honestly, this experience youguys need to do this Seriously.
Jeff (28:28):
I'd like to do an
endurance race, maybe not 24
hours the first pull, there's aSpa 24 too.
Jason (28:34):
That's coming soon.
Talk dirty to me, jason.
You know Spa bro, so yeah, it'skind of a bittersweet moment
like um.
Here I'll share.
Jeff (28:47):
I'll share a a picture of
the I got a question for you too
whenever yeah, go ahead, allright, does it give you a new
respect for the guys that dothis in like, oh, yeah, for real
life, the cars, oh, 100.
Like, can you imagine like howbeat you were if you were to get
out of the car, if you justdrove a GT3, the board for two
(29:12):
hours to get a couple hoursbreak and then get in it again?
Jason (29:15):
This is the car.
Yeah, man, I'm telling you.
What killed me was that thelimitation of YouTube.
Youtube has a 12 hourlimitation with live streams.
Not saying that I can't streamover 12, but the recording can't
be over 12, if that makes sense.
So I go to bed at three o'clockin the morning, bed meaning
(29:42):
tossed and turned.
Yeah, laid down basically, and Ihad to get up at seven o'clock
in the morning anyway to stopthat stream, start another one
and then after that I was just azombie dude.
I was a zombie.
I tried going back to sleep.
I couldn't man so imagine thisin real life.
I can imagine people.
(30:02):
How do you sleep during anevent like that?
How do you get some rest?
Rob Markman.
Jeff (30:08):
Obviously you don't want
to take melatonin or nothing
because you don't want to wakeup groggy, or if you got to get
in the car for something happens, I don't know.
Erick (30:16):
Rob Markman.
That's the scary part Ifsomething happens or you get a
call or something, rob, orsomething.
Jason (30:20):
Usually you wake up tired
, way more tired than you would
if you just did it naturallyright.
So, yeah, a lot of respect forthe people that do this, but
again this- Not trying todownplay what you guys did by
any stretch of the imagination.
I'll tell you-.
Jeff (30:38):
Super cool stuff.
Jason (30:39):
Yeah, I'll tell you Super
cool stuff.
If you go out there and look atthe speed that we were moving
to do that over and over andover, it was like 157 laps
around the Nürburgring bro.
Erick (30:53):
That's crazy.
Jason (30:54):
Wait.
I think it was like I don'tknow how many miles stupid
amount of miles that we drove onthe car.
Like we were talking about that.
We were joking around.
I was like this engine's donebro.
Jeff (31:07):
Yeah, it is For sure, this
engine is toast.
Erick (31:11):
Done deal, pack that up,
man.
That's crazy.
Jason (31:16):
Yeah, man.
So maybe next time we'll getyou guys in there.
Jeff (31:21):
Love to.
Jason (31:24):
Yeah, yeah, we need to do
one.
Honestly, it's uh, it'll changeIt'll, it'll change your your
view on it.
Like you, I thought I kneweverything there was to know
about endurance by just lookingat it.
But when you do it and I thinkabout doing another event like
that, I I have some ideas on howto fight certain things.
Right, I would have never wentthat early.
(31:45):
What I should have done wasstart at the stream, go to bed,
then get up right beforeswitching over, then take my
stint.
That's what I should have doneand I would have been all right.
But it is what it is.
It's over now.
We survived.
Jeff (31:58):
We're living.
It is what it is.
It's over now.
One last question we survived,we're living.
I'm sure everybody isinterested.
Anybody have to do a bathroombreak while they were driving.
Jason (32:08):
No.
Jeff (32:09):
No, no, I was adrenaline
kicked in.
Jason (32:12):
I didn't get shit on the
pedals this time, I made sure,
and I definitely tested thehardware.
Trust me, everything's working.
Jeff (32:21):
Oh, I dropped in and
somebody was talking about their
computer overheating and I waslike oh no.
Jason (32:27):
Oh, that was Mikey, but
that was after way, after his
stint was done.
Jeff (32:30):
Oh, was it Okay.
Jason (32:31):
Yeah, I mean, I was
looking at my computer was fine
until the very end I was lookingat.
It was getting hot already andyou know being on all the time,
bro, and that's the thing.
This computer was on.
The same thing you're viewingin the background is exactly
what I woke up to and I didn'teven want to look dude.
When I woke up, like an hourlater and I look at the screen,
I'm like is the car still ontrack?
(32:53):
Yeah, it's still on the track.
Let's go.
Erick (32:55):
Rob Markman.
Yeah, so it's funny, becausewhen I got in the stream you
were tossing and turning.
I assumed you weren't asleep, but you weren't in the rig.
Yeah, there's no way he'sasleep.
He's just probably taking abreak or something like that,
because I know I couldn't sleepif I had that going on upstairs
in my house Bro.
But just thinking about what youwere saying, jeff, about all
(33:18):
the stuff that has to go right, even with the sim racing, you
about all the stuff that has togo right Even with the sim
racing, you think about it.
It was like five or six of youguys so that's five or six PCs
that had to stay on and work infive or six iterations of our
racing.
Jason (33:32):
We were working around
the clock dude Because Neil was
out with his wife all day.
He was two hours away from hishouse.
He drives back and I'm ready totake the wheel again and he's
like no, I'm back, I'm good.
So then he jumped in and thenthe other guy had to do
something and it was just likethe same thing we had.
We had mentioned something likethat here, like go about your
(33:57):
day, do what you got to do, andthen when it's your time to
drive day, do, do what you gotto do, and then, when it's your
time, to drive then, but that'sa solid two hours that you're
there, yeah, at the nurburg, with some very, very fast uh
competition out there, and thenyou have these slow cars and
really fast cars people spinningout in front of you.
Jeff (34:16):
It's a lot, it's a lot
going on at night too at night.
Jason (34:21):
So, yes, we started the.
We started the race somewherein midday and we drove it all
through the night, throughsunrise it it was even foggy in
the morning it was so dope dude.
So, yes, if you want to checkit out.
It's on there, all of it.
It's uh, it's a little, youknow it's R-rated.
(34:42):
On part three.
We were getting tired.
Erick (34:45):
Just like real racing man
, Hallucinating.
Jason (34:48):
The effects.
Yeah, man, we broke out thedrinks at the tail end.
Jeff (34:51):
After you're done, your
last stint, yeah.
Jason (34:53):
I ain't driving no more.
Turn the steering wheel off andcheering our Gene because Gene
finished, started and finished, that's what's up.
Cheering him on.
And he was rocking bro.
He was pushing hard.
He was like I'm making up forwhat I did in the beginning, I'm
making it up right now.
That sucks.
I'm sure he felt terrible.
He did, he did.
(35:14):
He was really like he was.
Yeah, it happened to me too.
Some BMW clipped me in the back, put the car on the wall, but
we didn't total the car.
That was the most importantthing was not totaling the car,
it was just people.
Just you got to understand.
You're driving for that manyhours.
People are tired, they'reexhausted.
Jeff (35:36):
Decision making is
challenged.
Rob Markman Jr, If you gotthree people doing this.
Jason (35:42):
Just do the math, bro.
That's eight hours a person.
That's no joke.
That's no joke, bro.
So the more the merrier, mightI say.
We had seven drivers and westill did two hours each.
We still did.
No, we did four, almost fourhours each, like three hours and
(36:05):
some change.
And we would just do it by thegas tank.
And that was one more thing.
That's another thing I wasgoing to tell Eric.
There's a very, very differentthing the car has.
You can go through all thestages of the vehicle, because
from when you first put gas inthe car, it's really hard to
turn the car really heavy.
And then you start flying overcurves and being really sketchy,
(36:28):
bro, the tire catching andgoing like this, like oh man.
But after a while we were justhaving conversations the car's
doing like I don't know half aclick on the road.
And you know, I startedwatching and I was like dude,
we're like joking around aboutnostalgic things and the car's
(36:48):
just like screaming down theroad.
Yeah, you can see it in theback.
That's us in the back racingthe 911.
So anyways, that's going to doit for Nuremberg.
I can't wait to do it again.
I can't wait.
Thank God it's only once a yearbecause I'm not ready right now
(37:11):
.
Erick (37:11):
I need some time, but
that's going to be my next,
that's going to be my goal, man,to participate in that.
You can do it, man, you can doit, you can do it.
Jason (37:19):
You get that pace going,
you get that practice going, we
will all do it.
It was so sick, we will alljump in a practice run and we
would just form a train bro, allseven cars, all six cars.
That's super cool and we werejust all doing like this and the
guy in the front he's tellingus the gear he's in to kind of
help.
If you want to find a yeah, Allright.
(37:43):
So that's going to do it forthe Nürburgring experience the
24 hours.
So over to Eric for the nexttopic.
Want to have a live coachavailable on demand.

Erick (38:21):
Yes, sir.
So this man, you got methinking about the Nürburgring.
I'll probably do a couple ofpractice laps here later.
But on to something else.
That's not quite as exciting asa Nürburgring but it is.
You know, it's excitingnonetheless.
A little bit more GT7 news.
Bit more GT7 news.
So, if you guys don't know, gt7just recently had a kickoff to
(38:45):
their GT World Series, and sothis is something they do every
year.
They have a series of raceevents where they have drivers
that are qualified throughoutthe year to represent their
countries and they get to pickmanufacturers and basically just
(39:07):
start the GT World Series.
So the interesting thing aboutthis year is normally GT7 has
like a different partner.
They might be a manufacturer orOEM or technology, just some
company that's, you know, thatpartners with them and kind of
sponsors the event, theirheadliner.
This year it was interestingbecause it was Xiaomi.
(39:27):
So Xiaomi is a Chinese um.
They.
They used to be just like aphone manufacturer.
They started making watches, tablets, other electronics, but
they've gotten really reallyreally deep into um racing
manufacturers, just all kind ofstuff, um and so to, I guess, to
(39:55):
solidify themselves, theyinvited the I can't remember who
he is from GT7, but like thelead developer that got us over.
It invited them out to theirmanufacturing facility and
basically just took them aroundand showed them just their
(40:15):
culture there.
You know, they have this placewhere they're manufacturing cars
.
They're manufacturing um,they're doing all their testing
and simulation for their carsand he got to drive um one of
their evs and I have a pictureof it here I'm gonna put up all
(40:37):
right, let's see it, bro, let'ssee it, I think that these like,
I think that company's likepumping these cars out and
they're reasonably priced, likein the real world.
Jeff (40:46):
So I'm not surprised that.
Jason (40:48):
GT3 yeah, but reliability
in them, you know, I don't know
.
Erick (40:53):
It doesn't look terrible,
so this is an.
Jason (40:56):
EV.
It looks like a McLaren almost.
Jeff (40:57):
A little bit.
That's the first thing Ithought of.
Erick (41:00):
Yep, so it's an ev and I
got some of the specs here.
And the interesting thing aboutthis car is, um, they have
three iterations of it.
They have just their regular,um, it's called the xiaomi su7.
They have their regular version, which is kind of eerily tame,
(41:20):
right so that one has a singlemotor and you get 295 horses out
of it.
You know 300 horses.
Jeff (41:28):
Electric motor probably
get 300 horses is about a
baseline.
Jason (41:34):
Is that a base model?
Erick (41:36):
yeah, that's base model
single motor, which is crazy,
because my Camry has morehorsepower than that, that's why
.
But then you could bump it upto a dual motor and it has 664
horsepower.
Jason (41:47):
Okay, you got to have
torque too.
The zero torque, the zero to ahundred torque, is what makes
them fast yeah.
Erick (41:55):
Yeah, with the electric
ones, the torque is always the
kind of star of the show, butmore horsepower doesn't hurt.
And Xavi took that to the moon,so the one you're looking at.
If you look at the front tag,it says ultra.
So there's the su ultra thatone has 1525.
What?
Jason (42:14):
you said a thousand.
Oh, this looks like a sleeperbro, it will 1,525 horsepower
1,525.
Jeff (42:23):
That thing's a death trap.
Erick (42:25):
Oh yeah, it's definitely
trying to kill you.
They put on the Nurburgring andit set the record for the
fastest four-door electric sedanto go around in Nurburgring.
Jason (42:39):
I'm telling you
Nurburgring's where it's at.
You want to test?
Wow, oh yeah.
Erick (42:43):
Yeah, and it didn't.
There was some kind of caveatswith it, so it didn't take the
fastest production car becausethey did do some weight
reduction on it so it was kindof like stripped out on the
inside so it didn't, you know, qualify for that, but it did
beat the times for the fastestproduction cars to go around in
(43:04):
nurburgring thousand horsepower.
I'm not surprised, yeah.
And so another big thing isthey will be the newest
manufacturer to be added to gt7and they will be adding this car
to gt7, which is, um, somethingwe've kind of been complaining
about.
I think I showed in the lastupdate what kind of cars they
(43:24):
were adding and it wasn'texciting.
What was that little truck?
Jeff (43:30):
that was like 97
horsepower three-cylinder.
Jason (43:33):
What was it a?
Jeff (43:33):
Honda.
Erick (43:36):
I forget what it was.
I try to get that out of mymind.
I try to use that space in mymemory for something else.
Jason (43:43):
It's like this little
work truck, the little mini work
truck.
Jeff (43:46):
Eric, you got to hand it
to GT3 or GT7, though, on their
ability to just rapidly pump newcars into the game.
That is impressive.
Erick (43:58):
I mean it's like every
third episode we got new updates
of cars getting put in that isimpressive, I mean it's like
every third episode we got newupdates of cars getting put in.
Yeah, and there is interestingbecause we were talking about,
just like, the complexity of thecars and you know, if you're
putting a little work truck, forinstance, you're putting it in
the game, the adjustability andall that stuff of it.
(44:18):
It's pretty minimalistic, it'snot very fast, you're not
modifying it.
No brake bias, no TCS, abssuspension.
So the model itself is kind ofsimple, but the effort is still
appreciated.
If they were doing real racecars, it would be significantly
(44:38):
more difficult to do, whichsadly we don't get a lot of.
Jeff (44:45):
Imagine being the engineer
that's doing that truck and
he's like man, ain't, nobodygonna drive this thing.
And his boss is like yo, whenthat truck gonna be done so we
can push it to the game.
And he's like man, nobody candrive this thing, yeah.
I know right who's gonna drivethis thing, who's gonna see?
Erick (45:00):
So the funny thing is
yeah, I know right who's going
to drive this thing.
So the funny thing is they forDaily Race A that truck was.
They put that truck on theTokyo Expressway.
Jason (45:08):
Of course they would,
that's perfect.
Erick (45:12):
It's like a goof race.
Basically People hop in thereand go down Tokyo Expressway at
like 57 miles an hour, wide openor something like that.
Wide open yeah it was kind ofcrazy, but go down Tokyo
expressway at like 57 miles anhour, wide open, wide open.
Yeah, it was kind of crazy, butbut this kind of takes me to
just like the kind of whole EVconversation, because this is
the first time they partneredwith somebody over an EV.
(45:33):
You've never seen this carbefore.
The one that I'm showing youright now.
This is the Sony.
What is this called Sony?
The Sony Afila.
So this car was one that theyadded last year and Sony
basically worked up this entirecar and the car has, especially
(45:56):
in VR.
It has everything.
Everything's designed out thescreens, the interfaces, sound
system better be dope Soundsystem everything.
This is not a race car at all.
This car is like a rollingentertainment center.
So sound screens everything onthe inside, and Sony actually
(46:20):
built this car in real life aswell, so it existed in real life
as well.
Jeff (46:24):
So it existed in the
virtual world first.
Erick (46:30):
And they built a real one
in real life.
Jason (46:34):
And you can pre-order it
now.
Erick (46:36):
Oh, how much are they
going for?
So they are it here.
Jason (46:48):
I think I got the link to
it.
How much you think it is?
Jason?
A hundred, a hundred thousand?
Jeff (46:51):
yeah, I guess it probably
depends on the battery and stuff
huh yeah, what's your guess?
Jason (46:55):
uh, I'll say starting 70
and 70 to 100.
Jeff (46:59):
Yeah I'll probably I'll
say higher than that, just to
make things interesting.
Erick (47:05):
Okay, so this is the Sony
Afila.
Jeff (47:07):
Okay, starting at 90.
Starting at 90.
Erick (47:10):
Starting at 90.
What's he crying?
Jason (47:12):
for.
Erick (47:13):
He's getting to
experience.
Jeff (47:16):
Yeah, he's Look at that.
What the Not the way I wouldhave gone if I was the marketer.
Jason (47:22):
All right, listen, we
need you to cry when you're
driving this car, bro?
Erick (47:26):
Yeah, man, hey, it's
going to talk to you.
You've got an external display.
Jason (47:30):
Oh, you and I would not
want to buy this car.
Erick (47:32):
That's dope.
Jeff (47:33):
It would be some profanity
all day.
There's got to be a way.
Erick (47:37):
Learn to fucking drive
yeah get on the right lane,
don't travel on the left lane, yep but when I say this, like
the idea of it is, it's a mobile, just like entertainment space,
and you know this being aJapanese product, of course you
have that just culture of youknow, just creating an
(48:00):
experience right, so you got yougot speakers in the you know in
your seats and you know, justcreating an experience, right,
yeah, you got.
You got speakers in the, youknow in your seats and you know
spatial audio you know screenseverywhere.
It's just, you know just thefull experience.
And, and like I said this, whenthis first came to the game, of
course we all hopped in anddrove it.
I'm like this car sucks becausewait, it, it's a.
(48:20):
It's a terrible car to have onthe track, so serious too he's.
Jeff (48:27):
So this car is so because
we were like it was one of those
, so it was.
Erick (48:35):
You know, it was a time
when, you know, people were
complaining about gt7, notgetting you know any cars, and
they were kind of giving us somelike you know weird stuff and
they're like, oh, ev, and youknow, from sony and all this
stuff, maybe it'll be fast.
It wasn't fast at all, but theinside was dope.
And just to, I'm trying to getdown to the specs here.
(48:56):
Okay, they got two trims, thesignature start with 103.
Yeah, so 103 for the you knowthe signature version.
Yep, um, trying to find where'sthat.
So you get some bigger wheels.
They don't have any speed orperformance stuff, which, once
again, right, every ev they're.
(49:18):
They're putting that zero to 60time.
Up there they're.
You know, the speed is, thespeed is the easy button,
selective motors you just dialthem up and they go.
So the fact that they're notadvertising that at all, once
again it's kind of sus.
No, it reaffirms You're notbuying this for the speed, 100%.
Jason (49:39):
It'll probably be there
in some form.
Every other manufacturer thatmakes EV is going to show you
how fast they are.
Erick (49:46):
Yeah, so that's got to
be-.
Jeff (49:48):
Yeah, this is not fair.
Sundial slow.
Erick (49:51):
So remember right,
Because when I was researching
this-.
Jason (49:55):
Don't forget who we're
talking to, Jeff.
This guy is a Sony fanatic.
Jeff (49:59):
I like Sony too, but I
know you are bro, You're a Sony
fanatic.
Jason (50:02):
I like Sony too, but I
know you are, bro.
You're a Sony fan, bro.
Stop playing with yourself.
I'm a Sony fan.
I'm not a fanatic, I know you.
Erick (50:09):
But I'm a realist right,
so you know, just like.
Jason (50:12):
I know Sony does.
Let me see that cup that's onyour desk.
Lift that cup up, bro.
Let me see what's on there.
You see, you see, look at him.
Erick (50:21):
No.
But so the thing you got toremember about Sony is Sony does
whatever the hell Sony wants todo.
Right, when they made laptops, when they made phones, they do
what they want to do and youeither like it or you don't.
And so for them to come out ofthe car and be like, yeah, if
you ask us about speed, we'llsay it's fast enough, it goes is
(50:43):
about speed.
We'll say it is fast enough, itit goes.
I can totally see them sayingthat and not even really caring
about you know performance andbeing like but did you sit in it
?
Did you get it in to close youreyes?
Did it bring you to tears whenyou sat, when you drove it?
Bro?
Jeff (50:54):
this is a fake ass tears.
You bring a good point, like itwas like one tear one I was
completely dry.
It was like bro but I thinkyour point is like they're
bringing the car to theentertainment, not the
entertainment to the car.
Right, you're buying it for the.
Jason (51:11):
You know the experience,
not the acceleration I will say
this there's not a sim out there.
That's done.
Erick (51:21):
Electric cars right when
it comes to feel, because they
all feel slow, you know so I'llsay this about GT7 they've got
some, they've got some other EVsin there, and I've driven a
Model 3.
It wasn't a performance, but itwas a Model 3.
(51:41):
And one thing they do haveright is that damn weight,
because they are heavy and oncethey get going it is terrifying
because, you because you know, unless you've done some hell of
upgrades, that when you hitthose brakes they are not going
to be there.
It is not going to slow downquick, just compared to what you
(52:02):
normally expect in a lighterroad car, especially compared to
a race car.
Jason (52:07):
You should come down for
a visit, because I have two of
them.
Erick (52:13):
Yeah, the Model 3s.
Jason (52:15):
I have one Model 3
Performance and I got a Model Y
Performance, and those thingsstop on a dime bro.
Erick (52:23):
They bring that 6,000
pounds.
Jason (52:25):
Oh yeah, Full stop so GT7
.
They got it wrong dude.
Erick (52:30):
So I'm not going to ask
you how fast you're going,
because of legality purposes.
Jason (52:38):
We're not going to
incriminate ourselves on the
Chicane podcast, but I will tellyou that she has stopped better
than anything else I've driven.
So I don't know if the Model 3was.
You know, I don't know.
Erick (52:53):
I'll say probably the
speeds I was going in the game
had a lot to do with why thestopping distances were.
I mean, it's not a race car butit's a performance car, my car
has a track mode whatever.
Jason (53:12):
And see we can't.
Erick (53:14):
That's another problem.
You can't change any modes.
You can't like select anything.
You get in and you just pressthe gas.
So all of the differentperformance options or what is
it?
Press the go button.
Press the go switch.
Jason (53:33):
The forward pedal, the
accelerator, yeah, that's funny.
I'm telling you, I've drivenModel S's Plads and they're what
I'm telling you sense of speed.
I don't feel it in those games.
I don't know, I don't feel itin any games.
I've tried it in Assetto, Corsa, evo.
(53:54):
They feel dead to me.
But those cars are way more fun.
They're way more fun in life, Iwould say are way more fun.
Erick (54:02):
They're way more fun in
life.
Jason (54:03):
I would say I see it.
I'm pretty sure some people aregoing to attack me, so come on
and attack me in the comments.
Yeah, I do my stick shiftdriving in the rig, but a
business vehicle, get me to workAutopilot all day.
Jeff (54:18):
Oh dude, I'd love that.
That'd be awesome man.
Erick (54:24):
Look, I need that for my
girls, man, before they start
driving.
Whatever they got to do tofigure that out.
Jason (54:27):
Especially Hawaii traffic
, bro.
Yeah, bro, you appreciate thelittle things in life at that
point.
Yeah, all right, gents.
That's what's up.
Eric, good topic again.
Those are cool things, man, youshowing off.
I mean, are you going to buyone though, because I know
you're a fan?
Erick (54:48):
So you know, my issue
with the EV right now is we tend
to go out into the boonies alittle bit, and so, unless
something happens, I win alottery.
I can't have a car that I can'ttake everywhere.
I hope you do, bro.
And so the lottery.
I can't have a car that I can'ttake everywhere.
Jason (55:02):
I hope you do bro.
Erick (55:05):
I like that.
I like that.
Jason (55:06):
I hope you do.
If you do, don't forget aboutus.
Erick (55:09):
Both of us.
I got you man Right yeah.
Jason (55:11):
All of us.
Erick (55:12):
I'm going to be
sprinkling some love in Hawaii
man.
Jason (55:14):
There you go, bro, there
you go.
All right, well, you know so,all right, well, I well, we're
cutting it really close on time.
So I will be postponing thetrack of the week and I won't
reveal what it is, what it was,but I did make a promise that we
(55:35):
will go over the questions thatwe had on in queue for the week
, so without further ado.
Who's up?
I think, Jeff, you're up firstfor the first one.
Jeff (55:46):
I got you, buddy.
I'm going to get right into ithere, so this is a short one, so
I'm going to share it from thebeginning here and give this a
quick read.
This is do we have a name forthis one, peter?
Hey, guys love your podcast.
Watch it every Monday, hey,peter.
Thanks, dude, we appreciatebeing part of your day.
I'm from Sweden.
I love sim racing.
(56:07):
I thought I'd send you somepictures of my sim rig.
Keep up the awesome podcast.
And, dudes, if my rig lookedlike this, I'd be sharing the
hell out of it too.
Jason (56:20):
I'm telling you that is
clean.
Jeff (56:23):
Oh yeah, is that all
wireless?
Like where's the wires at?
Erick (56:29):
I don't know, he's
figured out some magic Dude, but
here's the best part.
Jason (56:32):
Probably tucked under
somewhere.
Jeff (56:33):
Hey look at the wheel,
Look at the wheel.
Erick (56:37):
Oh, the soul peg, that's
why you picked this one.
Huh yeah.
Jeff (56:42):
Dude, peter killer setup
here.
Dude, he's got the bass shakersin the four corners.
Was that too active?
Dang bro, this is a setup boys.
Oh yeah, he's even got thelight down there.
Jason (56:56):
Oh, it is two active
pedals.
Jeff (56:58):
Yeah, and he's got a hue
light down there.
Jason (57:02):
Yeah for dramatic effect
man.
Jeff (57:03):
Dramatic.
Oh, it was Dude, this was anice rig, and then he had to go
put that on the PC.
The McLaren.
Yeah, bro, man had to go putthat on the pc, the mclaren.
Yeah, bro, man, shout out todaniel newman, he'll like this
one oh yeah, 100 yeah, oh ohyeah, this boy did.
Jason (57:21):
He's a, he's a oh, he's
not playing around, not playing
around, not at all.
Jeff (57:25):
Damn.
He got a hand, a ton of sparefilament.
Jason (57:28):
Huh yeah, I was thinking
the same thing.
So what are we printing, bro,let us what are we printing, bro
, let us know, what are weprinting.
Jeff (57:34):
Everything and anything
I'm telling you Dude Peter.
Erick (57:37):
What's it look like?
Jeff (57:38):
Killer rig.
Thanks for listening, buddy.
Thanks for letting us be a partof your day.
Keep the pictures coming.
Buddy, you get some mod updatesto the thing?
Send it over here, Definitely100%.
Jason (57:49):
Thank you, Peter.
Erick (57:54):
Appreciate Definitely
100%.
Thank you, peter, appreciate it.
All.
Right, who's up next?
I mean I can hop back in.
Go for it.
It's a little lengthy.
Okay, we appreciate the effort, though, so I'm going to share.
Jason (58:07):
This one, oh, I think I
know which one this is.
Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah.
Erick (58:11):
I've been wanting to get
to this one.
So this one comes from Ramsey.
He says hey guys, my name isRamsey.
So for my start in sim racing, back when Gran Turismo 4, or
back when Gran Turismo 4, gotthe Logitech Driving Force GT
tiny wheel.
Lol says race the heck out ofthat.
Then GT time trial came out, soI got a Z27 TV and PS3 to play
(58:36):
a free game.
Oh man, yeah.
He says race my heart out.
Trying to get to the top of theleaderboard.
Made it to 198, then got pushedoff top 200 two days before the
end.
Jason (58:53):
Dang.
Erick (58:56):
So then he says he raced
GT5 and 6, then kind of shoved
it for a while and then COVID.
A lot of people's story gotcome through the COVID time.
Jeff (59:03):
That's it bro.
Erick (59:04):
Guilty.
Jeff (59:06):
All of us.
Jason (59:06):
Most of us.
Erick (59:08):
He says, boom, I want to
race again.
Got a PC, logitech again, thenThrustmaster T300, then CSL, the
Club Sport 2.5, the DD1, thenSimMagic Alpha Mini.
Wow Jeez, lost so much buyingand selling, but this is where
it's at now.
So I just wanted to share myrig, as many do.
(59:30):
Space is an issue and it took afew years to work up to triples
, but finally got a way to makeit much more compact when not in
use.
Don't mind the door, it's notused.
house divided so one so thatanswers our question from uh
before uh, so he said so.
I wanted to have foldablescreens for a while, but the
issues that came up were gettingreliable positioning each time.
(59:52):
Then, once I got the bezel freekit, couldn't give that up, so
I played around in cad until Ifound a pivot point that worked.
Then 3d printed some bezel freekit mounts that attached to the
center monitor.
It has some laser cut hingesmade for the arms there's a 3d
printing again yep, uh, he saysthe clasp lock in place.
(01:00:13):
It's solid and lines up exactlyeach time.
A little bit about the rigRunning SimMagic Alpha Mini,
shout out.
Simmagic Hyper PE wheel.
As soon as Houston fails, sprints Says AT Sprints.
Pe button box with relayswitches.
Above he says they turn onremotely Wheel-based shaker amps
(01:00:35):
, wind sim and some more emptyones for future projects.
All wires and PSU are mountedvertically behind center monitor
, then 3D printed Again a coverfor it.
I sent another email with videoof monitor folding.
Ran out of room here.
Jeff (01:00:52):
Yo, that is a clean setup
another clean setups again my
setup looked like these peoplewith wireless like ass stuff, I
know right bro, I'm like when Ifirst saw this, I was like I
said oh, I said it's hidden, butstill I mean I'm ashamed.
I showed my ring last the otherweek.
Erick (01:01:09):
After looking at some of
these, oh yeah, y'all ain't
gonna never see my rig.
Yeah, I mean like, just likefrom every angle look at the
door though like normally I'mused to like okay.
As soon as we start gettingcloser behind it, the wires are
going to start poking out andyou'll start seeing the guts and
there.
There are no guts in this thingit's all in the closet and even
(01:01:32):
from the other side it's like, okay, there's nothing.
And then I noticed this youguys, and there are no guts in
this thing, it's all in thecloset.
And even from the other sideit's like, okay, there's nothing
.
Jeff (01:01:39):
And then I noticed this he
has literally one cable going
to his wall from the roof.
That's almost as bonkers aseverything else.
Jason (01:01:45):
Everything's under the
rig.
It has to be.
Erick (01:01:47):
But then this is what he
was talking about with the hinge
, the hinge yeah, the laser cut.
And so he's got the monitorsthat fold, bro, you can start up
a business.
Dude, dude, I was thinking thesame thing.
Look at that.
Jason (01:02:00):
Compact.
Erick (01:02:01):
Look how tight that is.
It's basically almost withinthe footprint of the rig Like
look at this shot from behind.
That's crazy.
Wild.
That is crazy.
The triples and he says he getsit back to the same spot every
time.
There's the rig and their pc.
Yeah, yeah, so we see a littlebit of it that's a little too
clean, man.
Jeff (01:02:20):
That's cheating I was
definitely.
Let's see this what no waylocking mechanism.
Erick (01:02:28):
Nice bro okay, yeah,
dumbfounded yeah, where there's
a will, there's a way.
There's oh yeah, oh yeah.
So that's what.
Jeff (01:02:43):
Yo don't let the wife see
that printing.
Man don't let the wife see thatno dude, send us the uh yeah
man sharing is but you I mean heobviously is not a rookie in
like cutting metals and 3Dprinting.
Erick (01:03:00):
I mean like the geometry
and the math that I don't even
know what it's called to buildsomething like that, to have the
perfect angles, yeah it's crazyangles is yeah, it's crazy
because he said he played aroundin cad so he knows what he's
doing in there enough tobasically know how to model it
and know once he gets to a point, okay, this will work in real
life and risk his monitors, youknow yeah 100 man.
Jason (01:03:27):
No, it's a yeah man,
that's really super creative
though super creative yeahcreative.
Yeah, I tell you All right.
So I have the next one, andit's by Frankie Arocho and he,
oh oh, something happened to myscreen.
Hold on, sorry, guys.
I don't know, so hello guys Justwanted to say you guys are
(01:03:52):
doing a great job and keep it up.
I love that you guys cover alltypes of subjects regarding sim
racing.
Jason, I'm a fellow PuertoRican Thank you as well and I've
(01:04:14):
jumped in your lives asCommander PR.
I'm not a big iRacer but mymain sim is a Settl.
And because of drifting butdefinitely going to excuse me
because of drifting anddefinitely going to revisit
iRacing, sorry I will share acouple of pictures of my old rig
and I say old is because I hadto sell it due to personal
reasons, but I am rebuilding andI'm almost done, almost
completely basically done.
(01:04:36):
I will also share some of the 3Dprinted sim gear I've done If
you guys need any help.
I'm pretty familiar with how tomake them.
But anyway, keep up the greatwork and, like Jeff said, go
fast and break late.
But it's drive fast and breaklate.
(01:04:57):
Frankie Arrocho, all right, letme share these pictures.
Bring this, share my screen fora second.
If all goes well, here we go,mr Commander, so we go.
Mr Commander, so we got a DDUhere, nice ISO DDU 3D printed.
(01:05:18):
That's clean.
Yeah, I like it.
I see you with the lovelydashboard.
Erick (01:05:24):
Yeah, lovely dashboard,
gotta have it.
Jason (01:05:28):
Then we have um oh, okay.
Jeff (01:05:31):
He's got those look like.
Are those 32?
Erick (01:05:35):
American Sim Racing.
Check out the top.
Jason (01:05:39):
Is that top monitor that
size, or does the picture look
weird?
You see that the top monitor islike cut in half.
Jeff (01:05:48):
I think it's just the
picture.
Oh, it's the backside of thepicture.
Yeah, okay, okay, all right, Isee you with the Mo's.
The backside of the pictureyeah, okay, okay All right, I
see you with the moza.
Jason (01:05:55):
I like the lights.
Jeff (01:05:56):
Yeah, it's got this little
.
Oh, that's a cool button box.
Erick (01:06:00):
Oh, look at that button
box there you go?
Jason (01:06:01):
Oh yeah, I see you A
little carbon fiber action.
Jeff (01:06:05):
Yeah, custom buttons.
Erick (01:06:07):
Yep, I like that.
Jason (01:06:12):
Check him out, bro Look
at the Winsome.
Erick (01:06:14):
This the kit, yeah.
Jason (01:06:16):
Yeah, got the Winsome
Custom button box with a stream
deck look like inside of it.
It's kind of cool yeah.
Erick (01:06:24):
I need to get me one of
those man.
Jason (01:06:27):
You need to print one of
those.
You mean we need to talk toFrankie.
Erick (01:06:31):
I can't print a stream
deck.
I print the box though.
Jason (01:06:37):
Freaking Eric, check him
out.
Jeff (01:06:39):
That's a clean look man,
yeah, that's clean.
This guy's got his WinSim.
Jason (01:06:45):
Got to stay cool bro.
That was key, bro, In thatNurburgring 24.
Erick (01:06:49):
Oh, yeah, I bet it was.
That was key, that was key.
You got race logic Okay.
Jeff (01:06:56):
Yep Check him out you got
a nice little setup.
Erick (01:07:00):
Oh, yeah, yeah man, I
need some more.
I see the kind of Inspirationbro is.
I need more LEDs, more lights.
I think that's what I'm missingon my rig.
Jeff (01:07:12):
I like it's dark.
I missing on my rig.
I like it dark, I turn off allthe lights.
I turn off all the lights andjust use the hue lights and
that's it.
Jason (01:07:21):
That's what I do to each
his own.
I think we got one more byHarry Mazarakis yeah, I got this
one buddy.
Jeff (01:07:31):
Hello, jason, eric and
Jeff.
The tutorial we've been waitingfor has finally dropped.
So this dude has done I'm goingto just cue this up, there's a
little history behind it beforeI read it.
He does mixed reality simracing.
He dropped a video, I don'tknow, maybe like probably two or
three months ago now, and itwas badass.
(01:07:52):
The dude has like the VR, buthe has passed through from
basically I don't know his, youknow he basically could see his
wheel in hands and every hiswhole rig.
But then you look up and it'sthe VR of the car and you can
look over and see shifter andstuff and it's super cool.
And I reached out to him.
I was like, hey, dude, youcan't post something like this
(01:08:12):
and not tell us how to do this.
I mean, that's cruel andunusual punishment.
So I reached out and I was like, hey, man, I actually talked
about it on the show.
This is months ago.
Hey, just let us know, we'resuper interested, we'll talk
about it.
So he actually followed up withan email and, uh, so I'm going
to read it here.
The tutorial we've all beenwaiting for has finally dropped.
(01:08:33):
Would really like your thoughtsonce you guys try it out.
Uh, we'll be doing the samealso, including some upcoming vr
headsets that are starting toship below.
Uh, so I'm not gonna load it up, but I'll share it.
We'll share it in the in the,in the video description here.
Give it a watch.
It's super cool how this guyuses, like you know, a v-through
to create, like I said, hishands, his wheel and then the
(01:08:57):
dashboard of the car and theroad.
So if you're somebody that hasmotion like the VR gives you
motion sickness, give this a try.
It might help you out with that.
But anyways, some of theheadsets that are coming down
the pipeline the Pimax SuperCrystal, the Maginex, the Big
Screen Beyond 2, with andwithout eye tracking.
He does comment that the BeyondBig Screen 2 does not have
(01:09:17):
pass-through, so it won't workwith what he's showing and
displaying to us.
Play for the Dream, mr.
And thank you, harry M Dude.
Harry M, I think what you'redoing is awesome pushing sim
racing to where it hasn't beenbefore.
He comes up with a prettycreative solution to, like I
said, kind of show his rig butthen be have the immersion
(01:09:41):
merciveness of VR.
So, harry dude, thank you, thanks for reaching out, Thanks
for you know, obviously watchingand listening being letting us
be a part of your day andeverybody give it a look.
It's awesome what he's doing, kind of pushing the hobby
forward.
Jason (01:10:00):
We'll put the links in
the description here to that
video so you guys can see how todo it, because Jeff and I
almost killed each other tryingto figure out how to do this.
Like where the hell to how tohit impatient sobs and we kind
of went over.
I think it was a few episodesback.
We we did look into it, butthen the room needs to be super
(01:10:22):
dark, right for this type ofthing to work.
Jeff (01:10:26):
Um, but I mean, we'll give
you a little hint.
He puts like a, a light on hischest and that it that's what
super lights up the wheel andthat's what enables the pass
through.
Uh, but his video talks abouthow he does it, and the videos
look badass and I'm sure withsome tweaking, you too can, um,
can, do it.
Jason (01:10:46):
But uh, yeah, I just
think it's cool that somebody's,
you know, with some ingenuity,is pushing, yeah, pushing the
hobby where it hasn't beenbefore I think you would need
like a canopy I've seen a lot ofpeople use canopies and like
sim roofs and to darken out therig to get it to work better.
So if you're 100 vr, this mightbe for you, you know, if you're
(01:11:09):
100 vr, vr but for us to haveopen style rigs like this, you
know there's some compromises, like if the wife opens the door
and light comes in, now you lostthe wheel.
Erick (01:11:24):
Lost the wheel, lost the
car, lost the race.
Jeff (01:11:28):
I mean, it's not a big
deal.
Jason (01:11:30):
You lost the wife.
No, God bless the wife.
All right, gents Roundtable.
I think that's about it.
For me today it's good to beback here.
Anything we need to coverbefore we close this one.
Jeff (01:11:48):
No, jason.
Just one more to you and theteam Great work with the 24-hour
race there.
That's pretty cool For myportion more to you and the team
.
Great work with the 24-hourrace there.
That's pretty cool.
So for my portion, drive fastand brake late.
Jason (01:11:59):
All right.
I mean I'll tell you what Iwish that we could do this
together next time.
Maybe we'll have a Chicanepodcast team and do it as a team
.
But 24 hours is no joke.
So I mean maybe we could do asix hour, maybe we could do a
three hour yeah, four hours.
Erick (01:12:16):
I think that's awesome
split it in three.
Jason (01:12:18):
You know, divide, divvy
it up.
Jeff (01:12:20):
So get you guys into f4s
and we'll do it I would love to
I'm waiting.
Erick (01:12:24):
You guys, let me know.
Jason (01:12:26):
Yeah, you guys, let me
know when you want to do it,
we'll do it.
It's hell worth.
It's a lot of fun.
All right, it's very uh, um,how do you say this?
Like some sort of achievement.
Rewarding yeah, rewarding yeahyeah cool, all right guys.
Thank you so much.
Uh, we'll cover track of theweek next week and thank you so
much for the questions.
(01:12:47):
Keep them coming.
Leave a comment like subscribe.
