Speaker 1 (00:00):
So for FC Hornet Media, this is the big game day
snack draft or also as we'regonna be calling it, coaches
show supplemental episode 1, Ithink, Ryan. Is that alright?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Episode 1. Alright. Because we got a lot of stuff
coming up on the way in additionto our regular, episodes of The
Coaches Show that will be comingup, in the weeks to come.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Sounds like brain salad surgery, but, no, that's
not one of my picks. So I'm notdrafting yet.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
And in typical fashion over here with the Radio
Guys, we're bringing Jake alongfrom the ride, editor in chief
of the Hornet. It's still?

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Correct. Yes. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
So Jake's along for the ride over here with the
radio guys. And as things alwayshappen to head in the direction
of we landed on food. We'retalking about the big game.
We're drafting. Each person gets4 picks.
Best big game day snack. So herewe are random.org. Four of us on
the list starting with the orderJake, Joe, Mark, Ryan, and we're

(01:04):
gonna randomize this 4 times. The end of the 4 times. Number
1's number 1, 2, you know, howthis goes.
Snake draft also, for anybodythat is not aware how it goes,
the snake eats the head. So 1,2, 3, 4, then 4 will go again,
and then 3, 2, 1, 1 goes againuntil we've got all 4 of our

(01:24):
picks.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Shouldn't have done it. We've got a Cal State
Fullerton guy. You're doingmath. Well, that's do math with
the Cal State Fullerton guy.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
That's why I explained it. So dice roll
number 1. We've got Jake, Mark,Ryan, Joe sucks to be last, but
it's alright. We got 3 more togo. 2 down, Joe, Ryan, Jake,
Mark.
I really wish we could keepthat. Number 3, Mark at the
number 1. Joe, 2, Ryan, 3, Jake,4, and for keeps, Jake, Joe,

(01:52):
Mark, and Ryan. That's theoriginal list. Wow.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Wow. Okay. Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Alright. So you know what? I think it's easier if I
go first all the time becauseI'm the oldest. You said

Speaker 2 (02:04):
you said it was Jake, Joe, Ryan

Speaker 1 (02:06):
See, you can't. Joe, Mark,

Speaker 2 (02:08):
and Ryan. Joe, Mark, and Ryan. Yes.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
He clicks it up here so I know when I'm going. If it

Speaker 1 (02:14):
makes it easier, just think jjmr.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
It does not. But you know what? We'll go we'll go
with Chico Mark and Ryan.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
23 4 is easier.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Okay. So first overall, we've got Jake in round
number 1.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
And no pressure. This is pick 1 round 1.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Yes. The the cream of the crop. The best of the best.
I don't think it's toodebatable. Put hot wings.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Alright. Oh, and I like that you're actually
writing it down right. Because Idon't actually have talking
about being a good producerearlier, I did not have anything
to type on right now. It's sosweet. Hot wings, number 1 with
the bullet.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Number 1 now. If you're gonna bring in hot wings,
you've got to also supplementthe sides. Since this is, in
fact, your pick, just like youwould in a football draft, a
hockey draft, we gotta talk thenumber one overall pick. What
are you bringing to the tablewhen it comes to your hot wings?

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Well, number 1 is the word I didn't say no. I didn't
say wings. Hot wings.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Hot. Oh, okay. Okay.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Buffalo, definitely. There's where the debate might
open up is you go in blue cheesedipping.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Gotcha. See, I can't stand blue cheese.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Blue cheese doesn't

Speaker 2 (03:28):
blue cheese doesn't even touch my wings whatsoever.
That's that nonstarter. I thinkif the wings are good, you don't
even need to add anything.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
That's fair. That's fair.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
So you don't have to touch the blue cheese. I'll eat
the blue cheese. That's fine.I'll do it with my wings. It
adds that little bit of coolnessto it, that extra little cheese,
a bit of tartness to it.
It takes down the heat on it ifit's a little too hot because
not everybody wants a scorchedtongue.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Mhmm.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
So in it Blue cheese. Specifying hot wings. So your
ideal wings, buffalo, some kindof hot sauce.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
We're

Speaker 1 (04:01):
not going, like, lemon pepper wings. You're not
dude, do we just wanna he'ssaying hot wings, but are we
just gonna call it chicken wingsessentially? Because that's what
it's

Speaker 4 (04:10):
That's fair. Yeah. That's fair.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Because if not, then you're you're gonna start eating
up pigs with

Speaker 3 (04:15):
There's there's a difference there's a difference
between if you go to buy wings, you just don't say to somebody,
give me wings. They're gonnasay, what sort of wings? No.
This is not Correct.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Not this.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
You're gonna say, I would like some chicken wings,
and they're going to say, whatflavor or style? So that
branches out from chicken wings.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
So they're telling you there's a difference.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
It it's like Jake Mark.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Jake's fine.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
It's like if I went to you and I said, give me some
chips and dip.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I'd ask you what type.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Exactly. What type of wings? So you can It's an all
it's an all encompassing thing.Exactly.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
It it it's everything right there.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
I think Mark had one of his top seeds stolen from him
right

Speaker 4 (04:54):
now. No.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
No. I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Alright. Speaking of top seeds, we've got Joe with
pick number 2 in round 1.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I'm gonna go staple. He won't be at a big game day
party without guacamole.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Mhmm. Okay. Okay. Alone.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
How do you make your guacamole? I mean, you know,
guacamole. There's differentways to make some people would
just mash up an avocado and callit guacamole.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
That's all you do. You throw some other stuff in
there. Listen. It's an allencompassing term.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
This is great for me. It wasn't even on my board.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
It's not it's not mashed up what? It's not mashed
up avocado.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
You know, it's it depends on how much time you
have. You mash it up. You throwthe stuff in it. You go, oh, no.
I don't have enough time.
The first person's gonna be herein 5 minutes. Hey, I've got
salsa. Hey, I've got avocados.Hey, guacamole. Wait.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Wait. Wait. Wait. Don't be don't be adding those
other

Speaker 4 (05:53):
dips in here. Now see, Jake,

Speaker 2 (05:55):
if we're gonna if we're gonna spin it over towards
your side, are you also agreeingwith Joe in bringing, guac to
your big game party?

Speaker 4 (06:05):
In in my in my party, that's an incomplete answer
because I can't just have whatam I doing with the guacamole?
Just looking at it? What am Idipping in it? What am I adding
it to?

Speaker 3 (06:13):
You could put it on as a facial. Because I've got a

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Some like that maybe. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
But then you get frisky, you dip your chicken
wings

Speaker 4 (06:19):
in it.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
I don't know about that one.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
But, yeah, I I love guac, but I need I wanted to
know what else how are you gonnause the guac is my question.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
I think chips are implied.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I think tortilla chips are implied.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
That's fine with me. Then I'm I'm good with that.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
As long as the guac doesn't touch my big game party,
I'm happy. Like I

Speaker 3 (06:41):
said Biden is

Speaker 4 (06:42):
He's always on the ground. Not.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Alright. It's

Speaker 2 (06:44):
not like it would put in.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Round 1, pick 3. We're going to Mark.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Well, I'm gonna go to just the easiest thing in the
world that everybody will bring. So you're either gonna bring a
bowl of this or you're gonnabring a bowl of that. So I'm
gonna bring the fruit plate intothis, and the plate is gonna be
covered with a variety ofdifferent fruits that I like.
You guys, too bad, you're gonnahave

Speaker 1 (07:07):
to eat what I

Speaker 3 (07:08):
standard fruit plates or watermelon, pineapple, things
like that. You're gonna get someapple cut up on it. You might
get a strange little fruit nowand then. But, yeah. You've got
a fruit tray for everybody thatdoesn't want the hot wings,
unlike an avocado, and sureisn't gonna like what Ryan

(07:29):
brings, so that's why you've gotthe fruit tray at the table.
You take a fruit tray round 1.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
That was that was my only that was my

Speaker 2 (07:36):
only I love a good fruit tray,

Speaker 4 (07:38):
but your first pick is is it your favorite?

Speaker 2 (07:41):
I would like to state the fact that not only did he
take it round 1, he's alreadypreparing for other people to
say, what in the world are youbringing the fruit tray for?

Speaker 1 (07:50):
He had to sell it.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
You know? Fruit tray's fine for round 1. Fruit
tray's fine for round 1. I'mplaying it different than you
guys because I'm gonna put themost popular thing on there in
round 1. They're gonna look athis hot wings, and everybody's
gonna say, that's too hot.
I'm not really into that. They're gonna look at you and
say, it's a mashed avocado. Whomade this? I could've stopped at

(08:19):
the store and bought that. So wealready know that you guys are
behind me because everybodylikes that variety with fruit.
It's fresh. It cleans thepalate. It makes you ready. If
you got the margarita going, youdrop your fruit in there. You
can even drop some of your fruitdepending on what it is into
your beer.
If it's a dark beer, you coulddo that. If you got a glass of

(08:40):
wine, you can do that. If yougot a mimosa, you can do that.
Mine is a you can't do that withguacamole, especially yours. You
can't drop that in somebody'sdrink.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
So mine's one.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Mine's at the top of the round. I've already defended
it. Mine's at the top of theround.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
You shouldn't have to defend around 1, Nick.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah. That's the issue. It should be a consensus.
Oh, that's a good one rightthere.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
I saw you guys I saw you guys have a drool on your
lips.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah. I don't know about that one.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
It wasn't from Joe's mashed avocado.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Alright.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Alright. Round 1, pick number 4. We're gonna go
with nachos. Classic with

Speaker 3 (09:19):
the actor?

Speaker 2 (09:21):
No. No. No. Just just nachos. Just nachos.
Classic. You can't go wrong withit at your big game party. And
for me, it's implied that nachosis a whole. So it's not that,
like, you know, you go to acertain Mexican restaurant. They
give you the tortilla chips.
They give you a little bit ofcheese on the side. You dip it.
No. No. No.
For me, nachos is already set asa dish. So you got your tortilla

(09:45):
chips down. You ladle some blackbeans over top, maybe a little
bit of, some Mexican cheese ontoit, then you go with the nacho
cheese, and you add carne asadaon top. Those are some nachos
that are gonna be at my big gameparty.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
I get behind that. Carne asada was put over the
top. I was curious if we'regonna go meat or no meat there.
You excellent choice.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
I think you absolutely have to add that
carne asada.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Bowls and

Speaker 4 (10:08):
and just leave the

Speaker 3 (10:09):
kids right there.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
You know what? If he was here, he could. But,
unfortunately, there is no to goboxes at my big

Speaker 4 (10:17):
game party.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Alright. Nachos go off the board. I take those. And
since I'm the first pick inround number 2, I'm going to
give a surprise pick. I'm goingto give a little bit of a
sleeper pick here and goempanadas.
Empanadas are gonna be my round2 pick 1 pick.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
I'm gonna put you on the spot, but what kind?

Speaker 2 (10:41):
It has to be Colombian empanadas. So that
means that you're gonna get yourshredded beef, you're going to
get, your potato, a little bitof tomato into that, some celery
as well, and then you'll addthat green onion in there.
Perfect.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Unique, but I get I get behind that. That's a good
that's a good

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Strong end to round 1. Strong start, I think, to
round 2. We're back to Mark.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Well, you know what? I'm I'm gonna help out, Ryan
just a little because, you know,I got the the hot wings over
here. I got the avocadoGuacamole. There in the plate.
So you know what?
Why don't we, see, I could gotwo ways on this one. I'm gonna
help out Joe just a little, andyou could actually this works

(11:23):
with the hot wings. So I'm gonnatake some loaded potato skins
Oh. And throw those out thereright now.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
That's cooking around 1 pit.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Now you're cooking more.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah. That's good. Yes. Than the first

Speaker 4 (11:34):
Oh, I

Speaker 3 (11:34):
like to. Jeez, guys. You need to realize I'm not like
you guys. I'm a healthy personin this earth. If you looked at
the group, you'd realize thatsomebody might be younger, but
if we had to go in a marathonright now, I guarantee I'll win.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
I can probably finish a half marathon.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
I can finish half the fruit plate. So,

Speaker 3 (11:57):
yeah, I'm gonna and I'm gonna go and when I load
them, I load them witheverything. I love Ryan knows

Speaker 4 (12:02):
I love cheese.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Mhmm. So we're big cheese guys. Ryan, I'm gonna put
my sour cream on top of theretoo. Gotta gotta do that. I know
gotta put a gotta put a littleJake, gotta put a little Midsun,
you know, on

Speaker 4 (12:13):
the top too. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
That there.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
You know what? And I'm gonna have a little
horseradish on the top because Ihave friends that dip mine in
horseradish sauce. Here we go.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Alright. I'm gonna take a page kind of out of
Ryan's pick. I don't think it'sgonna be popular in this group,
but we're gonna go back to somefamily kind of cooking, some
stuff from where my region andmy family is in the world. We're
going pickled herring becausebig game day party. That's it.
Almost everyone that I've everbeen to.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
And I just need to be educated. I'm not I don't know
what that is.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
So you take herring. You have, like, a white wine
vinegar kind of sauce. And youpickle it with onions. And then
you just eat it. Slap it on somecrackers.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
See, that's a real eclectic taste. There's gonna be
people that are gonna lick atthat table and go, I didn't
touch you. Oh, there

Speaker 1 (13:05):
there there's gonna be people that look at the jar
and say, please put the lid backon that.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Yeah. I was gonna say, you don't even need to get
up to the table to know whetheror not you're going to taste
that.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
And somebody's gonna say, where'd that come from? And
I'd say, you know that half ofavocado that was just snuffed
up? The guy with the

Speaker 1 (13:22):
guy's fruit plate is ribbing me. I can't believe
this.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
No. No. It's not bad that he brought the fruit plate.
It's bad that he led off Yes.With the fruit plate.
World Series game 1, firstbatter up in the order, and he
brings a fruit plate.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Tell you what. Fruit plate, variety, healthy, full of
vitamins and minerals.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
And you know what I

Speaker 3 (13:43):
why you're drinking.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
You know what I don't want during my big game party?
Nutrients, vitamins, andminerals. You know what I do
want? Cheese. Yes.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Good choice. None with the pickled herring, I can
tell you that. I like pickledherring though. I figured you
would. I like the choice.
So,

Speaker 2 (14:02):
we've got round 2 pick number 4, which means,
Jake, you are up.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
I'm gonna stay on this on the spicy train a little
bit here, and I'm gonna go withjalapeno poppers. Oh. That's my
second round choice. I wantthose to get away from me in 2
spicy things, but I was afraid Iwas gonna potentially lose that
one if I didn't pick it soon. That one with ranch.
I know it's not with cheese. Butother peppers with ranch is is
the what what I'm bringing tothe to the big game party.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
You know what? Jalapeno poppers, I won't lie.
That was going to be my nextpick once I got up. Jalapeno
poppers, it almost seems likeyou can't go wrong with them
because those are the type thatyou could either just go
straight jalapeno with, youknow, the cheese inside. You
could also bake it.
You could fry it. You could fryit and then add your toppings.
Right.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
There's a

Speaker 2 (14:49):
lot of different ways you can go with that.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Yeah. That's one that's one of my personal
favorites.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Alright. Still on deck?

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Yeah. So we can it's around 3, I believe. This is
where I will add my healthierside, and let me be a little
specific. It's a veggie tray, but not not not, like, with a
bajillion things. I'm I'm goodwith carrots, broccoli, and
celery right there.
Just to give me that just so Ifeel better about myself about
eating hot wings, jalapenopoppers.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
You know what I

Speaker 3 (15:17):
wanna say?

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Round 3, perfect place to see a fruit or a veggie
tray.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
Yeah. There you go.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
Because you know what? At that point, you're
cleansing the palate. You'regetting yourself reset for your
next. I would have went fruittray, but

Speaker 4 (15:31):
it was a goes off the

Speaker 2 (15:32):
table. You

Speaker 3 (15:32):
guys you guys are so bloated now. You can't eat any
fruit. I'm feeling good. Thefruit has got me there. Now I
decide to eat because Jake isjust gonna fire my brain with
everything I stick in my mouth.
So I got my fruit plate sittingthere. I take one of those
jalapeno peppers, poppers. I eatit. Took a little while.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Your mouth.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Flush it down that way. Actually, I'll go over to
Joe's avocado. I've been sittingthere and probably take it by
myself, scoop that in my mouth.I'm set while I'm drinking my
nice cool drink that I got goingwith all of this, and my fruit
ties it all together. Oh, youguys you guys, you too.
Man.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Listen. We're not we're not we're not ribbing you
for the pick. We're just saying

Speaker 2 (16:20):
how round 1. How high you took early.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Because we just defended it. You know?

Speaker 1 (16:26):
I don't think it needed defending, but okay.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
Yeah. Round 3, pick number 2. We've got Joe on the
clock.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
I don't think you can do a big game day party without
some sort of pretzel snack. K.Whether it's pretzel sticks or
the seasoned pretzels, those, like, honey mustard barbecue
pretzels. Mhmm. Maybe we, youknow, appease Jake and we get

(16:54):
the jalapeno ranch pretzel bits, something like that.
I don't think you can have a biggame day party without some kind
of pretzel snack.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
It's a Smithstick.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
It's called a flub. It's called misspeaking. It's
called not being able to do thething that you're supposed to be
able to do for a living. Thanksfor putting me on the spot,
Mark.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
I thought it was some sort of weird pretzel that
worked with a No. No. Slicedavocado.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
And a fruit tray. So we're also going to give you
soft pretzels in that. Becauseyou said pretzel snack. You
didn't, you know, kindapigeonhole yourself into a
specific spot. So we'll toss insoft pretzels into your
category.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
That that's a great call.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
You

Speaker 1 (17:33):
know what? I'll take it.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
I'd like to

Speaker 1 (17:36):
thank the committee for that one.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Oh, here

Speaker 2 (17:37):
we go. There we go. Alright. So, Mark Dangers.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Well well, you know what? I mean, I'm I'm really
disappointed because we gotchips. We got one stupid dip on
the table. A really nice fruittray that everybody's enjoying.
They're staring at the rest ofthe stuff going, hey.
Unless I got something to washthis down with. So, guys, I'm
gonna go with what I think isthe most popular dip, at least

(18:07):
when we have parties, for anysort of games that we watch
together as a group, and that'sbaked spinach and artichoke.
That just goes over big foreverybody, and that's that hot
dip that's going on there. Thatsort of balances out things. And
see, that sort of goes withfruit, vegetables, then whatever

(18:28):
else is on the table.
So yeah. You could dip all those

Speaker 1 (18:31):
things into it. Also, a compelling round one pick I'd
like to add. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
I didn't pick an avocado.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Delicious, Mark.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
I like spinach. I like artichoke. For some reason,
I just cannot get behind aspinach artichoke dip. I've
tried many, just not my thing. Not that it's bad, just not my
thing.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
I feel like he's leading into his dip.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
No. No. No. No. No.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Are you just not a dip fan?

Speaker 2 (19:02):
You know what? That that might be it. I'm just not a
dip fan. I'm more of a the theevent, the snack, the
conglomerate, the amalgamy thatis my snacks are already set and
ready to go, and I don't needthe dip to go with it. Yeah.
Exactly.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Exactly. He just wants to buy a pair of new
slacks that are size bigger. So

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Well, if I am going to go into my pick, round 3,
pick number 4. I am going totake mozzarella sticks off the
table. Oh. Because I love mesome mozzarella sticks. I feel
like mozzarella sticks can gowith anything.
Yes. It is a fantastic big gamesnack. Mark is shaking his head
over here. Why

Speaker 3 (19:46):
is that? Joe, did you hear what he said?

Speaker 1 (19:49):
I did.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Why is he taking them off the table? I thought this
was where we put all our food onthe table.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
He's taking it off of your table and putting it in
front of him.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
I didn't I

Speaker 3 (19:59):
didn't even have that on my table. Guy goes to the
store, pie sticks, uncuts themopen. How creative is that?
Might as well just get a bar ofJack cheese.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Here's the here's the issue. Is that you get the bar
of Jack cheese and you cut itlengthwise, cut it lengthwise
again, then you get your smallerbars of Jack cheese. You end up
rolling that in the egg, in thepanko, back to the egg, into the
fryer, and now you got yourselfsome homemade mozzarella sticks
without having to usemozzarella.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Those are Jack cheese sticks. Man, you had me go down
the road, and that was,

Speaker 4 (20:38):
like, for the

Speaker 3 (20:38):
curve. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
The reason the reason why I'm taking it off the table,
Mark, is because I'm putting iton my plate. Okay.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Alright. I think we're at round 4, pick 1, Ryan.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
4, pick 1. I'm gonna go with stromboli. I love me a
good stromboli, and I feel likeit's going to be that selection
that everyone goes looks at andgoes, I I forgot that existed.
So it's stromboli did. Did.
Round 4, pick 1.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
That feels dangerously close to an entree.
It does. Bully?

Speaker 3 (21:08):
It does. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Really? Okay. You know what?

Speaker 3 (21:10):
But You know what? I'm I'm gonna I'm

Speaker 4 (21:12):
gonna I'm

Speaker 3 (21:13):
gonna I'm gonna live with it because some of us might
have other things that we couldlook at. So

Speaker 2 (21:17):
because I'm not taking I'm not taking the whole
stromboli. I'm going with theslices of the stromboli.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
I mean, if you're gonna do stromboli, don't you
think that would have been afirst a great first pick?

Speaker 1 (21:27):
No. I think his first round pick was pretty good.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Yeah. See? And then, again,

Speaker 4 (21:30):
it is your big game day party.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Exactly. Thank you, Jake. Thank you. So we got
Monterey Jack mozzarella stick. It's round 3, pick 4.
And then Stromboli slices isaround 4, pick 1. Now we go to
Mark.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
We're at a Pinocchio party with, him. Strumbling. You
know what I'm gonna add to yourto your table though? I think we
need some more potatoes becauseI love potatoes. I love potatoes
in all different forms.
So I'm gonna throw in sometailgate tots

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Mhmm.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
To go along the way too. And of course, we've got
now our dips and everythingelse. You sort of roll
everything together. And, wehave our starches, we have our
meats, and our fruit thatbalances everything out. So and
A good call.
Some and some vegetables fromJake over there. So now we've

(22:23):
next.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Oh, I think your tots are gonna go honorable mention.
I think they're gonna sit on thebench. Because I'm coming in
with some I'm coming in withsome real tater game right here.
And we're gonna go baked potatobar.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Oh, a potato bar.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Bar. Wow.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
For your big game day snack, you've got the grill
going already. You just wrapthose potatoes in some aluminum
foil and just keep it going andfeeding fresh baked potatoes to
the big potato bar.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
Well, I didn't anyway, it crossed my mind.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
But But sounds like that sounds like that goes with
his entree that we shouldn'thave allowed there, but that's
okay.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
No. No. No. What meal is a baked potato considered an
entree? It's in addition.
It's

Speaker 4 (23:03):
it's it's

Speaker 2 (23:04):
it's a fresh tray. Yeah. I've had a baked potato as
an entree.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
It is an accoutrement.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
You get the baked the loaded baked potato. It's an
entree.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
That's a that's a

Speaker 3 (23:14):
It's an entree.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Alright. Strong bully boy. Quiet.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Okay. Now we go do a drink.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
I don't it's our big potato bar, and I don't know if
I have the proper terms. Youguys might have to help me out.
The little, hot dog weenies. Theweenies. Yes.
My closeout. Okay. Closeoutpick. Definitely need some
dipping sauces there. But, yeah, that would that's, I think been
every suitable party that I canremember that I've been to, so
that's that's gotta be on mylist as well.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
So them wrapped in a little, like, crescent roll or
or in the okay.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
A little crescent roll.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
Mhmm. We we call them pigs in a blanket, but I don't
know if that's really the properOkay. Proper term Yeah. Or not.
Yeah.
That's that's one of myfavorites.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Alright. We can run over to Ryan, who's been our
statistician. This, he can breakdown the picks.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
So Jake's team currently is hot wings, jalapeno
poppers, a veggie tray, and thethe pigs in a blanket. Mhmm.
Alright. And Joe's is guacamole, pickled herring, pretzel snacks,
and baked potato bar.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
That is unique. Which makes mine nachos, empanadas,
mozzarella sticks made withMonterrey Jack, and stromboli
slices. And then Mark's at theend of round number 4 is a fruit
plate, questionably, loadedpotato skins, baked spinach and
artichoke dig, artichoke dip,and tater tots.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
I think the editorializing on Mark's takes
really what kinda screwed you upthere,

Speaker 2 (24:58):
man. It may have. Just a little bit.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
So there it is, I think, at least 4.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
I got I got one question, though. Okay. You know
what none of us threw in there?

Speaker 2 (25:06):
What's that?

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Buy it around 5? Because I realized all of a
sudden, damn. We we went alittle longer. I mean, I would
have said, hey. You know, nobody's got a sweet tooth.
I'd have done some footballbrownies. There's gotta have
something sweet on there too.Sweet tooth.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
That's gonna

Speaker 3 (25:20):
call me. My my fruit's gonna handle all those
people who are diabetic.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
And then

Speaker 3 (25:25):
my football brownies are going to do the rest of it.
So that's just, you know, that'ssitting on the edge of my plate.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
I don't think you would have needed a round 5 pick
if you didn't pick fruit tray

Speaker 3 (25:35):
round 1.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Yeah. I'm just saying

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Enjoy your pickle, Harry.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
There was some good stuff left on the board. You got
stuff like bacon deviled eggs, pizza rolls.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
I got kettle corn.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Pizza roll. Meatball egg rolls. Charcuterie board.
The charcuterie board could havealso been tossed in there.
Lunches.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Oh, that's a great call.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
That's a very good one. And then you could also
well, what mine was going to benext was toasted ravioli.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Well, I like toasted or fried? Because I've also had
fried ravioli.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
I air fried ravioli is fantastic. I would

Speaker 1 (26:09):
rather Okay.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
I would go with that too. Sounds like good. Whose
house are we going to? Right?

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Well, I think this was a good first one. Maybe FC
Hornet Media will bring you guysanother, you know, something
draft down the line. Yeah.Anyways, you guys listened to
it. Let us know who had thewinning team out of this from
Jake, Mark, Ryan, Joe over here.

(26:37):
Seeing everybody else's picks, Idon't think I have the winning
team.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Well, I know which one I'm not going to.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
Listen. I'll like it.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
I was gonna say, Joe's gonna be watching the game
and

Speaker 1 (26:51):
I think I think round 2, I torpedoed myself from mass
appeal, I think. Mass marketappeal. The rest of the list, I
think, is solid.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Oh, no. No. I would go to yours. The fruit tray,
round 1. It's still getting tome.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
Listen. That's like having Gretzky on the board and
going, I'm gonna pass.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Yeah. You you look at Tom Brady. Keep him on the
board, and you decide, you knowwhat? I love Mark Sanchez here.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
You know

Speaker 4 (27:14):
what? I'm

Speaker 3 (27:15):
gonna say this. Out of all your picks there, even if
I take some of yours, I know onepick that's gonna be in
everybody's house, and it ain'tyours. It ain't yours. Oh. Might
be yours.
But, definitely, that fruit trayis going to be there, and it's
going to be differentnationalities of fruit. They're

(27:37):
all gonna have a differentracism.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
No. No. See. That's That's going to be the incorrect
pick because you would have tobreak it down by regions of
America to find your fruit tray.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Because you

Speaker 2 (27:50):
go to the Pacific Northwest,

Speaker 4 (27:53):
and it

Speaker 2 (27:53):
will be there. You go to the Southeast, it will not be
there, and you might be tossedout of the big game party for
bringing it.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
I mean, look at this room. There's a fruit tray
between 4 of us.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Well, that that says it all. I worked grocery. I've
worked the day of the big game.We cannot keep enough guacamole.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
You know

Speaker 1 (28:13):
what we have plenty of at the end

Speaker 3 (28:14):
of the day? Fruit trays.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Oh, right.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
People buy fruit trays right and left. I got I
actually got told by the managerat Safeway, biggest sellers all
the time are fruit trays and thevegetable trays because they're
the easiest things to purchase, the easiest things to bring to
parties, and every party isthere.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Hearing is you got an email saying everyone needs to
bring something. You were on theway to the big game party and
went oh wow. I forgot to bringsomething so you swung by the
store panic bought a fruit tray, and then tried to pass it off as
your round one pick.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
And you know where that beats at? Because I didn't
stop the store buying avocado, cut it in half, calling
guacamole.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Alright. Anyway, I think that takes us to the end
of the first supplementalepisode of the Coaches Show.
We'll probably have more ofthese, when? Who knows? But,
thanks, guys.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Let us

Speaker 1 (29:14):
know who has the best team. And coach's show should be
out every Friday while thesemester is going on. Jake, what
you got going on with the Hornetbefore we go?

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Good. Just, getting back in the flow. Got some
stories coming out this week.Looking forward to covering some
baseball on Friday amongst otherthings, and, we're looking
forward to a great semester.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
And I heard, Jake's writing a really great article
about fruit trays.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
And then Ryan

Speaker 4 (29:38):
An opinion piece.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Ryan, 145, sports class, coaches show. Anything
big this semester so far eventhough we're just, you know, a
week ish into the new semester?

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Yeah. They've got a lot of games coming up. I know
the 145 class in the middle ofMarch is going to go out to
softball, so you can expect alot of softball on the air in
addition to some women'sbasketball too. Coach's show is
actually going to have 2different installments coming up
very soon with the remembranceof Alfiola that happened
recently in addition to talkingabout a brand new commitment

(30:10):
coming out of Fullerton CollegeFootball going elsewhere to the
division 1 level.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
And tossing it over to you. Mark, you were at the
Alfeola event. You give us alittle bit of a tease of what
went on there.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yeah. I mean, a lot of people one of one of the
bigger turnouts for, anythinglike this, they showed up and
the stories that I heard goingall the way back to 1960,
talking about Al and the daysthat they were here and the
stories they told. And we hadhall of famers that were there
once again, people that Ryanwould know because he's

(30:42):
interviewed many of them like Ihave. And a great tear tribute
to a wonderful man who was hereon the coaching staff who really
cared about his studentathletes. Nothing but great
memories about Al.
Alright.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
So that's it for the first episode of the
supplemental episode of theCoaches Show, you know, chapter
1 article 3 subsection

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Round

Speaker 1 (31:07):
1, big one. Yeah. Something like that. Anyway,
bye.
