(00:05):
In the attic, treasures hide every trinket, every guy.
Hey, and welcome back to the Collection Obsession Podcast.
I'm Andy and I'm here with my friend, my friend Ben.
(00:26):
How are you, Ben? Not bad how you doing buddy?
I'm good. I'm good.
Ben. I just want to formally give an
apology. I'm sorry my friend.
You don't have to apologize to me, Andy.
We're just having fun. I feel like it went too far, but
(00:50):
it's all in good fun. It was all fun.
It was. It was not taken that way at
all. So not not by me, I don't.
So I don't want anyone to think that we are angry at each other
or anything like that. It was all a joke and just a
good time. For sure.
So go ahead. No, go ahead.
I I want to hear what you have to say.
(01:11):
I was going to address the fact that I wasn't on the last.
That's exactly what I was going to bring.
Up Oh perfect. Well, I just kind of wanted to
talk a little bit and just say that, you know, Andy addressed
that I'm a busy person and I couldn't agree more and that's I
talked to Andy. I said, hey man, this takes up
(01:33):
way more time than I really originally thought it was going
to, and that's no joke. This Andy and I put a lot of
time into this and I was like, hey, there's going to be times
where I'm not going to probably be able to.
Kids are in sports, there's a lot going on.
So we kind of tried to make it work to where it works for both
(01:55):
of our schedules as much as possible.
And unfortunately I'm not going to be able to be at as much as I
was planning on, but I'm still going to be here.
It's not like I'm completely gone, but Andy's the one that
puts in the most work, he puts in the most time and I can't
thank him enough because it's wedo put in a lot of time and he
(02:15):
puts in a ton of time working onthis.
Well, hey, Ben, I appreciate yousaying that.
Yeah, I don't want anyone to worry that, you know, you're
going to be gone completely whenthis happens.
There are going to be episodes that I do just me, and that's
cool. That's fine.
And I, I don't want anyone worried about like us going away
(02:40):
because it's not going away. No, not at all.
Not at all. And you know, with springtime
here and like I said, we're right in the really heavy spark
part of sports right now. To where?
Yeah, you're in the thick of thesports time.
Yeah, for for sure. And it's, it's just taking up a
(03:00):
lot of my time and I'm still going to be here as much as I
can. But Andy's the main man, so he's
going to take on the brunt of the time and I can't thank him
enough. But but I will be here.
I'm not. I'm not going away so.
Hey, hey, we've all seen the statue of the man with the world
on his shoulders. I'm kidding.
It's nothing like that at. All, you know, sometimes that's
(03:24):
a that does feel like we deal with a lot.
Day-to-day, just dealing with life in general, I feel that
way. That's, yes, yeah.
This is actually my relief righthere.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's, that's the truth because
that's how I look at it too. So.
This, yeah. I I really enjoy getting to talk
talk with you on here. Yeah.
(03:45):
Hey. And that's, that brings up a
very good point for me is that, you know, I personally deal with
a lot of anxiety and depression. And I know it may not seem it on
here because this is literally my happy time, but I, I do deal
with that type of thing. And I'm sure that you do at
(04:07):
times as well. And I, as I had said once, I, I
don't want anyone to feel that they can't reach out and speak
with someone. So anyone that is dealing with
that type of thing, please reachout, speak to someone, you know,
let others know that you have that feeling and do not hold it
(04:30):
in because that's, that's not good.
That's going to just build a bigger problem in the end.
So, you know, I had a friend that he had a podcast as well,
and he has now passed away. But he would speak of it every
single episode and he would tellpeople, if you need help, reach
(04:51):
out. And I want us to continue that
and you know, and let people know that it's OK to reach out.
And it's not a sign of weakness. It's not a sign that you can't
handle. It's just being true to
yourself. Yeah.
Yeah. And that's that's going to lead
us into our episode here. We don't have a guest tonight.
(05:14):
We just are going to kind of Spitfire over here.
And Spitfire. That's not the right word to
say. If you if you start spitting
fire right now. I'm not.
I might, I might, you never know.
I am part time dragon. I don't know.
(05:35):
Yeah, that's that's, that's an interesting fact we're learning
right now. The facts of life.
Oh, wait, no, that was ATV show. So, Ben, what's new?
How are you? Just finally getting to sit down
and relax a little bit and been been busy, but kind of I'm doing
(05:59):
good. I'm doing good, just I guess a
little bit tired right now. But how about you man?
How have you been? I'll be honest with you, I'm
really, really tired. I feel like every day I find
myself partially falling asleep so.
(06:20):
Yeah, yeah, naps are. I'm starting to really like
naps, I'll tell you. I'll watch.
I can't nap during the day man. It'll once I wake up, I'm just
like, this is the worst feeling ever.
Yeah, I'm kind of into like a like a 5 to 10 minute nap.
No more than that. Yeah, that speed nap.
Yeah, that. Speed nap will help.
(06:41):
It'll actually boost you. Like you wake up and you're
like, I'm going to get shit done.
Yeah, yeah, seriously, it makes a big difference for me.
I'm really getting into it. Yeah, I, I tend to be sitting
here while editing and things like that, and I just kind of
nod off for a minute and then I'm like, oh, wait, what am I
doing here? I am.
(07:02):
So. It's usually I hit a piece of
glass that's sitting next to me and it doesn't clang, you know,
And I'm just like, oh. Don't break it.
Don't break it, Yeah. I I have a box of things that I
have broke and it's not, it's not just from that.
It's actually just things that I've accidentally bumped and
they've fallen. So.
(07:24):
But I think like most people that have glass they've
collected, they have those, you know, I'm sure a lot of people
throw them away, but not me, yeah.
Yeah, I think I, I think I've probably discarded of my broken
glass, but. Yeah.
You know, I just came across a note here.
I was looking at that something we must have talked about that,
(07:45):
it says contact Dustin Diamond. Contact Dustin Diamond.
Yeah, Screech from Saved by the Bell.
Oh my gosh, we going to talk to Screech?
I would love to but I I don't know why I even wrote that down.
Oh, OK. Well, I guess at some point in
(08:05):
time we might talk to Screech. I don't know.
Dustin, if you're listening, I want to talk to you.
We want to talk to you. Yeah, yeah.
Oh, it's a big fan. Real big.
Big. Real big fans right here.
We wrote your name down so. Yep, it's official.
(08:26):
Yeah. Oh man, So how's the selling
collecting life going for you? Right now it's more selling than
getting new stuff. So I haven't really got a lot of
new stuff, but I've been trying to have some shows lately.
Not as many as I would like to, but I also haven't been getting
(08:48):
as much inventory as really I could keep up with a bunch of
shows. So I've been just when I can, I
have shows and but past that. Life really throws curveballs,
you know that. Oh, for sure, yeah.
And as far as a collecting thinggoes, I, I got to get some more
new stuff. But it's, we've been, you know,
(09:11):
doing a lot of things I haven't been focused enough on or as
much as I'd like to on getting some new stuff for our
collection. But and stuff's been just
selling for so much that it's been that when I, when we find
something that we want, it's like, Oh my goodness, I are we
going to spend this much or not?And then we end up kind of not.
(09:31):
So we haven't really got a lot of new stuff yet.
How about you, man? Well, I I can say that Aya
actually got something from you.Uh Oh yeah, you have been
selling. Can can you take a wild guess of
what I got from you? Not that you would know, because
you know you weren't even there, actually.
(09:54):
Yeah. You were just a robot.
The wife was throwing up the cue.
Cards and yeah, yeah, I just I just speak as.
Yeah, you know what I would say? What?
Yeah, I read it and I say it. I read it and I say, yeah, no, I
you bought, you bought a, you bought some clown stuff off of
(10:15):
me. Yeah, some clowns.
Go figure. It's a new thing for me.
Yeah, Glass and a clown. You really can't.
Really. Yeah.
Get to Andy any better than that?
That's sort. Of it's a neat combination I
really enjoy. Yeah, Yeah, I think that's.
The Pee Wee's and the The Clown on a Barrel from Mosser.
(10:41):
Yes. It's kind of giving to be a lot.
I'm running out of shelf space. Yeah, I think, I think the clown
on a Barrel, I think they've made 13 variants of that one.
OK, I've got four of them now. OK.
So you're getting there. You're getting there.
(11:03):
I gotta keep going. There's that.
That's literally my sign that I have to keep going.
Yeah, Yeah, I can. Build a new shelf.
Yeah, I like the little plates too.
The plates are cool. Yes, man, I.
Think that the mini, the mini ones are just so neat, like just
they're just tiny. They're so.
(11:24):
Cool. Yeah.
And that's something we spoke ofearlier today.
The plates. Plates of all kinds are awesome.
You know, I showed you a Fenton one I have here.
But those clown ones, everybody loves a clown.
They say. Yep.
Yeah, I do. I really do.
(11:47):
I actually had picked up some little things at the store here
locally, not at a, you know, store for antiques or anything
like that, but actually at my local dollar store.
I picked up some mini painting canvas display piece easels and
(12:13):
they tend to fit the bigger plates for the clowns really
well. Oh, that's cool.
Yeah, that's that's and see, that's the stuff that when I
when I get the plates, it's likeyou have to have some way to
display it. Yeah, but it doesn't look the
same, just laying down. Yeah, I want to.
(12:34):
I want people to be able to see it.
So they want it standing up. They look OK laying down like in
front of the if that's how you have to display it.
But I mean, ideally you get it to stand up, but then, you know,
having a good way to do that is just.
Yeah. And and these are for the 2 inch
by two inch canvases. The I mean, I don't know if
(12:57):
anybody wants to hear this, but Dollar General is where I
actually got them. Yeah, that's cool.
But yeah, it just happened to bethere.
And I looked down and I was like, I bet that would fit, you
know? And it's just a really neat way
to display them. And now that I'm going to be
buying more plates of them, I might as well so.
(13:20):
Yeah, Yeah, yeah. That's that's a pro tip right
there that. Yeah, that's a clown pro tip
there, you know, and I'm not clowning around about that.
Yeah, so that's cool. Something I I want to kind of
introduce to everyone is what wewere just talking about selling
(13:44):
here and what we would like to call or coin, coin dot the
phrase seller circle. Yeah, I like it.
So you know. It's gonna be.
A spotlighted seller each week and at least the episodes that
(14:06):
you're able to be on, because I don't want to do this without
you. I don't want to sit here and
talk to myself. But a seller's circle where
people can give us an e-mail andkind of let us know what they
have sold throughout the week or, you know, if they want to
(14:28):
spotlight another seller that they really think has done
something special. OK, so if you see something that
you think was special or you bought something from somebody
and thought this was really coolor you know, and.
Where can they send that e-mail collection of collection of
(14:51):
Gmail dot? Com.
Got it out before you. Yeah, Collection obsession pod.
OK, Collection obsession, pod@gmail.com.
You made it worse by going back, you realize that, right?
I know. I just, we're just, you made it
(15:13):
worse by saying yeah. You made.
It worse by saying. Yeah, that's all good humor
there. Yeah.
Man, so who knew I had such goodlions to bring up Josh and
Jenny? I appreciate it.
Yeah. If you want to buy any, come to
(15:34):
one of my shows. Yes.
Hey, hey, you know. The glass Josh and Jenny's by
Monsters Hunter vibe. In fact, I would like to
personally bring up the first Seller Circle Spotlight with you
Ben buying glass. Oh, no way.
For real. Thank you.
I appreciate that. So been buying glass on whatnot.
(15:59):
Why don't you go ahead and highlight some things that you
personally feel that you have that are unique and people
should really check out because you have some amazing stuff,
Ben. Hey, thanks man.
I wasn't really prepared for that, but I do I do have been
so. I know.
Yeah. Thank you.
I appreciate it, though. I have them like like we were
(16:22):
just talking about that have those Josh and Jenny's.
Those are really cool. Those are the VI Hunter and
Mosser kind of work together. So they made these glass molds.
Well, the the VI hunter. I'm not sure if the lady's last
(16:43):
name was Hunter, I assume, but she I've.
Actually never, to be honest with you.
OK, but a lot of people have yeah.
And I guess she had these molds made and ended up Mosser made
the made the glass for and they're pretty cool.
(17:05):
I mean, those are really neat. Then I have I have a bunch of
Mosser clowns and stuff right now so.
Be still my beating heart. Yeah.
So if you're into any of that and I I have some other stuff
too that I still have that like it's like a glass art glass
double barrel shotgun that if anyone knows anything about that
(17:27):
thing or would like to, if you know anything about that type
thing, go to my shop if you don't mind and I'll put it in
the store. Check it out.
If you know anything about it. I cannot find anything on it.
So help me out here. Tell me what?
I have, you know. You've showed me that piece and
I've tried myself to look it up.I cannot see anything as well.
(17:50):
Like there has to be someone outthere that knows something at
least. Yeah, it's an interesting.
If you don't mind it, was that abuy on what not or was that say
no that was a local buy? And it's signed.
It's signed too. And I don't quite understand,
(18:12):
you know, it's really pretty. It has some like internal work
done, but it's like balanced by these two little.
Feet. And off the the butt of the the
gun, I suppose. And it's it's really well made
to where it would balance the barrel all the way out.
So whoever made it, it's a. Skilled glassblower of some.
(18:38):
Sort. Totally.
Because it's one of those piecesthat you sit there and you look
at it and you're just like, I don't understand where this even
started, how this even became. Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, it's it's one of the most interesting pieces I have, I
believe, but just because it's so different.
But I have a bunch of other stuff too, but that one there,
(19:02):
that one there always catches myeye.
But I think people should look more into these Josh and
Jenny's, especially the Jenny's because they are.
You got some really, really coolones.
Yeah, and they're just so well done.
I don't. Have you ever had any of those?
Have you ever seen them? Actually I've.
I've never had one in hand honestly.
(19:23):
OK. You'd be surprised on how well
done they are. Like they're very nice, solid,
little heavy. Some are bell, some of the
Jennys are bells. So those aren't solid.
Yeah, I have a couple of the Jenny Bells.
Yeah, I guess I didn't realize that.
Yeah, and from what they're theylook identical, but some are
hollow. They actually have like a
(19:44):
they're they're a bell and from.What kind of a ringer do they
have in there? Is it a glass piece?
I think it's just a little glassball and, and some of them don't
have one, which is, I thought I was just getting ones that were
like the maybe it fell out of there or something because I
think it's kind of glued up in. But after kind of a little bit
(20:07):
more research into it, I guess some of them were sold possibly
without that in it. So they sold?
Yeah, just like as a hollow. And that's that's a strange
thing that they would put out that way.
I mean, because when you think about it, I mean, we've all come
across like a bell that doesn't have.
(20:28):
I'm not even sure what word I want to use for that.
But the little ball in there that rings, you know?
Yeah. Yeah, I call it a Clapper.
I'm not sure if that's. An official term.
You got to be careful with that.Oh, do I?
Well, maybe I just brought that up instead.
(20:50):
I have a Fenton Bell that I had gotten, and it's obvious that it
did have that piece in there, but it didn't have it when I got
it, OK. And I always wondered like, was
it supposed to have one or did it break off?
Did some little kid pick it up and take that piece out?
Yes. Because I I know that that could
(21:13):
happen 100%. Yeah, yeah.
I actually have some pieces thata child had picked up and they
had a stopper in them and the piece fell.
The stopper didn't fall, but thepiece fell and broke.
But, you know, so children will pick those things up.
(21:36):
So that that was my wonder. As if like maybe it just was
ripped out or, you know, whatever it may be.
Yeah, Yeah, I kind. Of always wonder that too.
That's always strange whenever you look in there and it's like
I can't. I've had ones before too where
it's like there's no way that this came out of there without
(21:57):
breaking something, but nothing's broke up there.
It's like, how would you get that out without breaking it?
I don't. And that's kind of how this
Fenton Bell is that I have whereit's like 2 pieces that go
either way. You know, one, they're facing
one another where you couldn't have got anything out of there
without breaking those little knobs that are holding it in.
(22:19):
Yeah, there's, yeah, that's yeah, that's exactly what I've
seen. Yeah.
Where the they they like the glasses almost together to where
something I don't know. I don't know how you wouldn't
break it without purposely. I'm a no bell expert.
I live in Pennsylvania but I'm no bell expert.
I've never actually seen that big bell there.
(22:40):
Oh, wow. Well, yeah, there's something
for you. Yeah, there's something.
See. See my connection there?
That was a horrible joke, I'm sorry.
Well, there's something you needto do.
Yeah, so, Ben, as the seller's circle spotlight of the week, go
(23:00):
ahead and promote yourself even more.
All right, I mean, I, I just, I just sell on what not.
So if you want, if you're into glass, you like glass and good.
Wrapping of your package if you like that, if you like to be
shipped a good package, go on. Thank.
You, I appreciate that, but yeah, if if you have a certain
(23:23):
type thing you're after, I have a pretty good network of finding
new stuff. So you can always send me a
message and say, hey, I'm after this.
And even before I'll buy it, I could tell you hey, I this is
about what I can get it for. This is what I can get it to you
for. You know, we can try to work all
that out. So I don't have shows scheduled
(23:44):
right now consistently, but if you go in and you look at my
page, they'll probably be a couple shows.
So if you want to bookmark them and show up and just be there,
and I do, I do a lot of glass candy giveaways, so.
Yeah, I actually have one. Oh, there we go.
So yeah, if you like, if you like the glass candy, I always
(24:06):
put a thing on there. It's glass.
Don't eat it. But but, but yeah, so even if
you don't want to buy anything, come check it out and get in.
Online. I should retract my statement
there. I don't have it.
My daughter has it now. Oh yeah.
Yeah, really. She's added it to her
collection. Yeah, my, my daughter loves that
(24:28):
stuff. Yeah.
Yeah. She actually took it to school's
show and tell one time. Oh.
That's awesome. That's really awesome.
I was like, the teacher's probably freaking out.
My daughter brought glass for show and tell.
Not only that, but it looks likecandy.
Oh my God, what are they doing to this porch?
(24:49):
Yeah, I was waiting for a note like.
This is your snack. Yeah, please, please, for show
and tell. Don't let the kid pass around
glass no more. Yeah, oh, man.
And you know, it would have beenso heartbreaking if someone
accidentally dropped that. And just even though, even
though it's just a, you know, little glass candy peas, it's
(25:10):
still. Yeah, my daughter takes real
good care. She has like a a little like
plastic box. She keeps it in and everything.
So I know. Yeah.
And I knew she was going to makesure that that everything was.
Yeah, Eleanor's stuff is actually on display right with
mine. Really.
OK, Yeah. She has her own spot.
(25:32):
OK, very cool. I like that.
Yeah, she has room in her room to put it, but she also has a
bunch of I, I can't think of thename of them right this second.
The dolls there, they depict different like situations but
they're just like a porcelain with fabric type of doll.
(25:55):
Oh, OK. Yeah, yeah.
You know, and they're just for display only type of things.
They were my grandmother's, actually.
Yeah, we, we actually have one of those for my grandma.
Yeah. I know exactly what you're
talking about. Yes.
Yeah, yeah. Where it's like the it's fabric,
but the hands are like porcelainand the heads porcelain.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly.
Yeah, those are cool. I have one.
(26:17):
My grandmother would get one foreach grandchild and that was
like them. Oh, OK, that's neat.
Yeah, I actually have mine that she had gotten and it's a
drummer. I don't play drums anymore.
I mean, I I play drums, but it that's not like my thing
anymore. But she had gotten me as a
(26:37):
drummer and it's a little red headed boy and he's got like a
snare drum on him. Really.
That's really neat. That's really.
Yeah, and she would seek these things out like she was my
grandmother. Bless her heart.
She was such a right to the point type of person as far as
(26:58):
like this has to be this way. Yeah, depicting this person.
Yeah. But yeah, my daughter got all of
the dolls actually when she passed.
OK, well, that's. That's really neat.
That's neat that they're being kind of carried on too.
So yeah. Not only that, I own my cousins
(27:19):
and my brother and sister, so we'll see what happens.
Yeah, Yeah. You know, voodoo dolls aren't
that whole. Hard to come by at that.
I'm just so cool. I'm kidding, kind of.
I've never stuck pins or broke any limbs of that.
(27:41):
Wait, we're going into the wrongthing here?
I've never done anything, I swear.
Legally, I have not. Not anyways.
How about it's? Never going to be able to say
that, but no. So I like the seller spotlight
thing. I appreciate you putting me out
there like that at been buying glass, but I want to maybe
(28:05):
expand for everyone kind of whatthe point or what we're looking
for with that is we're going to be doing this as a segment and
we want to have this continuous thing.
But you know, feel free to put yourself out there and be
(28:26):
someone that we can use as our spotlight person.
So I guess. Exactly that.
So what what do you think, Andy?Like how how would how would I?
I think if you want to either a talk about yourself and promote
(28:49):
yourself in any way, feel free to do that and e-mail us and
just let us know, you know, or you could message either one of
us on what not. That's totally fine as well.
Andy B3472 Been buying glass on what not?
Or if you want to send an e-mailto
collectionobsessionpod@gmail.com.You know, if you want to do it
(29:10):
for yourself, that's totally cool.
That's fine. We would love to have you do.
That, yeah, that's awesome. If you want to promote someone
else and you think someone has done a great job as a seller,
you know, and that's someone that you truly want to back into
with this, send us their information, let us know about
(29:31):
them. But I don't want anyone to feel
like they can't say it themselves.
Because yeah. You know, if you're having a
hell of a week selling, by all means, we want to know about it.
Yeah, yeah, that's, that's excellent.
Yeah. Please tell us.
Yeah, I mean. And I don't want anyone to feel
like they can't do that I guess is my whole point.
(29:53):
Exactly. Yeah.
Yeah, you're not. You don't just have to this.
I don't feel like I just have topoint this out for someone else.
I guess is what you're saying this this can also be about you
that that'd be great. To be honest, I'm going to go
through and I'm going to call people out.
You know, I want to myself and Iknow you do as well.
Tell people that you know this person has done a great job as a
(30:18):
seller. Yes.
But I would really, really encourage others to e-mail us or
message us about it. I want to know, you know, the
people that I don't know, you don't know.
I want to be spotlighted becausethis, that's the whole point of
a seller's circle. You know, get this circle of
(30:39):
great sellers together and let other people know about it.
Yeah. So I know it's a little bit I'm,
I'm not doing this just to because you did it for me, but I
kind of want to hear about you too, because I did buy something
(31:00):
off you recently. It was packaged very well.
It got to me excellent. It was hand painted by you that
made it that much better. But, but I know you're you've
got a raid train coming up and I'd like to hear a little bit
about that. Well, hey, I appreciate you
saying all those things. I mean, and that by all means
(31:22):
you did not have to say a word about that.
And I know I surprised you by saying, you know, but I really
truly appreciate that. And yes, I have this rate train
coming up the 25th and it's a all glass great train.
And I know that like I, I have sold a lot of glass on what not,
(31:44):
but I'm not known necessarily asa glass seller, a glass buyer,
yes, but. I know you have to buy.
Andy buying glass. Yeah, yeah.
But yeah, I have this coming up.I believe I'm at 1:00 PM and
(32:06):
that's, that's Eastern Time. But other than that, I have so
much glass that I want to share with other people because that's
my biggest thing is when I buy glass that is going to
eventually be sold, I buy it formyself first.
You know, every piece that I get, I have it on display in my
(32:27):
home first, and then once I feelthat it's OK to, I pass it along
because isn't that the whole point of what we do is like we
want others to enjoy? Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, yeah. I don't think I sell anything
where I look at it and I'm like,I, I wouldn't, I would, I, I can
(32:48):
understand why somebody would want to display this.
Exactly. And like I I know that there are
not so many, but there are thosethat get stuff to sell only.
In fact, our last episode was someone that started out just to
sell and and he is a collector now.
(33:11):
But. He started out just to sell and
like that's a whole different aspect of what we do, you know?
And like I personally, and I know you as well have, we went
into this as we saw these piecesthat we loved.
Yeah, yeah. It was something that just was
(33:32):
we were drawn to. It was a, it was kind of like a
spiritual thing in a way, and not to bring that up, but in a
way. Yeah, I had some sort of yes.
And and that's why I say, you know, I display every single
piece that I get. Yeah.
And I think that goes a long wayas, as far as a buyer to know
(33:56):
that this was worthy of what youbelieved to have been something
to be displayed. You bought it, yes, specifically
for that reason. Everything you you're selling,
you bought because you want to display it.
And I feel like that's kind of also goes with local buying
because I will go to my local thrifts and I am there to buy
(34:18):
for myself. I I don't go there thinking like
this is going to be X amount of money because in in all reality
to me that is not part of it at all.
Yeah, but that's. Just to me that's, you know,
that's just how I feel about thewhole aspect of reselling and
(34:40):
buying and collecting, you know?Yeah, yeah.
And I, I think that also goes very far with how I collect.
I collect in a manner that I have so much different things.
You know, I have so many, yes, all over the place type of
things, whereas you are more of just glass.
(35:02):
Yeah, Yep. Yeah.
For the I know, yeah. Exactly.
And I really appreciate you saying about the painting that
you got off of me because, you know, I, I made a point to wrap
it well, but it was literally a piece of wood that I had
painted. On, that's true, yeah.
(35:24):
But there could have been many things that happened along the
way getting to you. You know, it was just paint.
It could have flaked in any spot.
It could have, you know, guess what?
It was a clown, guys. And actually that one in
particular is a self depiction of myself and It.
(35:46):
I went through a phase of doing that where I would draw or paint
clowns and I would make them myself in an aspect of IT.
It wasn't like they were directly me by any means because
you know, I I have a rather large beard.
Those don't have the beard, you know, but it was just the red
(36:10):
hair type of thing that I connect with clowns.
Clowns have emotion connected tothem.
No matter what one they are. Everyone has a different emotion
to it. You know, a sad clowns, not just
a sad clown, a happy clowns, notjust a happy clown.
They have so many elements to them.
And I know I probably sound likea crazy man saying that because
(36:31):
is everyone sees a clown and they're just like, that's a
clown, whatever, you know? But I see the deeper end of it.
Yeah, not like I've been kind oftelling you that here lately is
I always looked at it just as a clown and the more it all.
Sites me that you're getting into that.
Yeah, I know. I don't know what's going on.
It's just I, I understand it now.
(36:53):
It's you're. Clowning around with me too
much. Yeah, I know.
I know what is going on. It's yeah, it's really becoming
a thing now that this clowns arecertainly something that I'm
collecting, I think. But yeah, I don't know.
I I like though. I like to think that I'm.
Crazy for having these clowns honestly.
(37:14):
Yeah, but I think, I think so many people do like like clowns.
I I I didn't really. Realize more and more.
Yeah, I didn't realize that, howfar that really went, but people
are into. Yeah, I find, I find these
people that have collections of clowns that they are not the
type that I would have thought had them.
For sure, for sure. A lot of grandmothers.
(37:38):
Yeah, yeah, yes. Yeah, and that's The funny thing
is because every time I explain my glass collection to someone,
I say, you know the kind of stuff that a grandma would have.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's a lot of truth to that, but it's.
Also like, well, yeah, because when you go to like I understand
(37:59):
it thrift of some sort, you know, like I'm not going to name
names of, but we know the biggerones, you know the the name
ones. Yes.
In most cases that stuff that wefind there is literally someone
had gotten rid of it because their relative had passed or
something like that. You know, they just got over the
(38:21):
whole situation of it. And that is literally the whole,
well, like a grandmother would have had.
Yeah, yeah, it does sadden me ina way that the people, I guess
sometimes people just donate it just because they or, you know,
get rid of it because of whatever.
Good hearted people. Yes, but but at the same time it
(38:42):
does sadden me kind of when I start thinking about like I
don't think they had any idea ofwhat they they had.
I I agree 100%, especially in myarea here where I will go to the
one G1, you know, the big G1 that most people know of and
(39:02):
I'll find Fenton pieces and I'm just like, yes, why is this here
for, you know, 5 bucks. Yeah, yeah.
And it's. Like did I, but also I've spoke
before about how I live in a very historical area.
My town is where oil was drilledsuccessfully for the first time
(39:23):
ever and like, I don't know if these people even understand
what the community is out there that want these pieces.
Right, right. You know, my, my heart starts
beating so fast when I find one of those pieces, you know, and
I'm just like, Oh my God, I better grab it before anyone
else sees what I'm doing, you know?
(39:44):
And that sounds silly, but like, that's the truth of it.
And I feel like in my area everyone knows what it is.
So see in that, that's a whole different world, I guess,
because I feel like no one knowsaround here.
Or if they do, they just don't care.
Yeah, because I, I can go to like any of the local thrift
places and like if I'm looking at glass, like there'll be
(40:06):
someone walking by, they'll be like, oh, that one's Fenton or,
you know, and it's like, oh, these people legitimately know
what this stuff is, You know, it's not like.
I have actually said we have a place here in town that's
considered the Market Square andit has like different vendors
within it. It's one building that just has
different vendors and they have like jams and things like that
(40:29):
as well. But I actually had bought a
basket there, a Fenton basket, and I was talking to the owner,
who I'm good friends with because he works at my
daughter's school as well as he is actually my uncle's best
friend. Oh, neat.
And I had mentioned Fenton, and he just kind of was like, yeah,
I it's one of those companies. And I was just like.
(40:53):
Oh. You know, and he owns the place.
And I was just like, wow, like, does he not even understand?
Like, fascinating. He has to know because you know,
he started this business with his sister, so.
Like, yeah. He has to understand, like, the
value of it. But yeah, just the way he
(41:13):
responded, I was just like, well, this is confusing, you
know? Yeah.
Yeah, I think, I think it's probably better if, if you're in
that position, not to pay enoughattention to it so you don't
start falling to the trap of like, I know what this is.
It is it. Is that's why I said it.
It's a it's an addiction. It's an addiction.
(41:35):
It's an obsession. It is, yeah.
That's what that's what my collection is.
Yep, mine as well. It's a collection obsession.
Or, you know, an obsession collection because, you know, in
the attic. Yeah.
Yeah, Yeah, yeah. That's.
Yeah, which, yeah. Hey, that reminds me real quick
(41:58):
just now. I don't want to get off of our
topic of conversation here, but I want to encourage everyone to
check out Paul Gorman and Gypsy Poets.
You know, our theme song is doneby Paul.
He is one of my great friends. He's actually my neighbor.
He is 10 feet from me right now.Yeah, yeah, it's.
(42:19):
Probably more than that, really.House to house.
It's my driveway. I just thought I want to
encourage that because I want tohelp others in what we're doing,
you know, and Paul is a great person that makes really cool
music, you know, And so I just wanted to throw that out there.
(42:41):
Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
But I do agree with that. I mean, listen to the theme song
and realize the type quality that you're you're getting.
Yeah, that's. And, you know, hey, I know we've
only once had the entire song onthere.
Yeah. And I think that we should throw
it up again sometime. Yeah, yeah, let's, hey, let's.
(43:03):
Maybe the end of this will end up being a full song.
Yeah, yeah, please, please put it on there.
Then I'm going to listen to the end of the song repeat a bunch
of times cuz I I love, I love it.
I do too, and I get stuck in my head so easily.
So with that in mind, I want to talk about something else here.
(43:25):
All right. So we talked about the seller
circle. Yep.
What's your thought on a buyer'spit?
Oh, that's an interesting one. I like that.
So a buyer's pit, meaning, you know, that you can personally
e-mail us, you can message us, we together can throw out, you
(43:49):
know, not something that we've sold, not something that people
want to promote a seller, but something we've bought because
we do it every episode that we're together, we talk about,
you know, that weekly purchase. Yep, Yep.
So this is call to arms of the official buyer's pit.
(44:14):
You know, we're down there in that pit.
We're getting dirty, we're getting rough, you know, And we
want to know, we want to know what each purchase of the week
or of the month or that big one that you just got that you've
been wanting for years. Yeah.
Yeah, let's, I'm excited for that one too.
(44:34):
Yeah. Yeah, me too.
Yeah, these. Are two things that I'm super.
Goosebumps. I'm not going to lie to you, I
got super goosebumps. Yeah, yeah.
And that's like any category. We talk a lot about glass, but
with any of this, with any of this, it's any category,
anything. Yeah, yeah.
I would like to hear about the vintage, the antique, but even
(44:57):
if it's a newer thing, I want tohear about it.
Yeah. You know, if it's something that
you collect, that it's a new agething, I want to hear about
that. I want to know why you're driven
for that. For sure, Yes.
Yeah. How cool is that?
Yeah, that's. See, this is This is why Andy's
the man. He comes up with these great
(45:17):
ideas. But to be honest with everyone,
to be completely transparent, this, this is what you and I
talk about. Just when we're not even trying
to do anything. This is our conversation.
This is how we kind of bounce off each other, you know, And
this is this is what I want everyone to feel that it's OK to
(45:41):
do with this podcast, you know, and like, we have not gotten
anyone really emailing us. And I cannot encourage it
enough. You know, I want people to give
us their thoughts. You know, if you have some
thought of like, you guys need to shut the hell up and just,
you know, like, yeah, let us know.
(46:04):
And it's collection obsession. pod@gmail.com.
What was that, Ben? Collectionobsessionpod@gmail.com.
I'm sorry, I couldn't hold back my laugh.
There. Oh man.
You got very official. That was great.
I'm sweating. The goosebumps just went to
chills. So, yeah, so we got the seller's
(46:29):
circle and the buyer's pit. So.
So those are really good reasons.
Yeah. So those are really good reasons
to send us an e-mail. Hey, if you just, if you don't
want to use the e-mail address and you just want to message one
of us on whatnot, that's perfectly fine too.
It's Andy B3472 or been buying glass?
Yes I'm and honestly all the other socials we do have the
(46:54):
Instagram. Yes, we do.
We will be doing a Facebook eventually here.
Pretty. Soon, I think.
And there is possibly on the horizon a group that we could
do. Really.
Maybe something about that goingon in the brain, you know?
(47:15):
I I sure hope so. I hope that works out and.
And just somewhere that people can go and just walk.
Yeah, You know, it doesn't have to be anything that's too hyped
up about anything. Just a place for the collecting
world. Yeah, we're collectors and let's
all share our collection with each other and things we're
(47:39):
excited about. Yeah, because you know, this is,
This Is Us talking. We can't.
And we can read your emails, butwe can't see the product.
Yeah. So like a group would be great
to just look at this, you know? Yep, Yep.
Yeah, I think that. I want to show my stuff off all
the time personally. Yeah.
(48:01):
Well, that, yeah, I mean, that'sthat's kind of the hidden part
of all this is a lot of us have our collections and some of us
don't want anyone to know about it, but most of us would like to
share it. I want people to see what I got.
Yeah, and some of us just don't have friends.
I'm sorry that I just said that.I know I don't have friends.
Yeah, we we don't have any friends so.
Yeah, I, I I have my friend Ben.Yeah, Yeah.
(48:25):
That's that's about where my list ends.
So I'm kidding. I have a real life guys.
Come on. I mean, kind of.
I get I go to work, my kids are my friends.
Yeah, yeah, that counts. I have a great community on
(48:46):
Whatnot. Yep, Yep.
So. Which, if anyone at Whatnot is
listening, we could use your sponsorship.
Oh, did I say that out loud? Yeah, we would.
We do. Speaking of which, Ben, I'm
feeling kind of tired. Yeah.
Are you a little bit tired, huh?Well.
(49:06):
Yeah, and also I'm kind of dehydrated.
Oh. Well, so I.
Think you need to look into getting a hydrating drink?
Yeah, I I think I'm going to have to go upstairs and grab my
shaker, a bottle and also a packet of Dubby.
(49:26):
There you go. Yep, and man, tell you what,
Dubby gets the job done. Yeah, you just had one here
What, yesterday? I don't know if you had one yet
today. I have not had one today, but
I'll tell you what, Ben, When I received my package from Debbie,
(49:48):
I was blown away. You know this bright green
package that had Debbie all overit showed up on my front porch?
How? Awesome is that?
I could not RIP into it soon enough.
I literally just dove in like itwas a swimming pool.
Yeah, that's. Coolest thing about it is the
(50:10):
graphic on my shakers. I got 2 shakers.
I got a green one, I got a red one.
Yeah. And you know, my red I use just
for the hydration. My green is for the energy.
OK, OK. Yeah, and great artwork.
Anime artwork actually, and I know there's people that collect
(50:33):
anime. Oh yeah, yeah, for sure.
I I don't know anything about itmyself, but it's.
Cool artwork. Yeah, the artwork isn't
unbelievable. So did you get some energy out
of it? I got to the point where I was
wanting to clean everything, I was wanting to sell everything,
(50:54):
I was wanting to do some backflips.
Oh wow. Well, all these smokes sold,
yeah. Sold.
Yeah, yeah. And I'll tell you what.
Then I went to W dot GG and I put in our promotion code
actually. Yep.
And that was collection pod. Yep, collection pod.
(51:18):
And you know what that got me that that got me a little bit
off when I placed my order that.Oh, yeah, man.
Yeah. So if you're feeling like you
need a little bit of energy, youknow, and transparency, again,
it is late at night right now. Yeah, yeah.
I'm I'm dragging, yeah, but I still have a lot to do tonight,
(51:41):
so. I think we started this podcast
off by saying how we were tired so.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. So that's we both need to go
again to W dot GG. Yep.
Then you put the stuff in your check out.
You're not going to see the areafor the code until you go to
check out. When you go to check out, then
(52:02):
you're going to see up. It's going to say coupon code.
I think it says code or coupon code.
I can't remember exactly. But then that's where you can
put in the collection pod code and get 10% off.
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Yeah. So hey man, Yeah, I'm.
(52:22):
I'm going to have to go grab me one right now.
Actually all. Right.
Well, I guess it's. It's been so nice to talk to my
friend again. Yeah.
Oh, man, it's good to be back. I I was so sad.
I love listening to it. You did excellent without me.
But I missed being there. I missed being there.
So I'm so happy. I.
Missed you being there. I I, I felt like I needed
(52:44):
someone to like, draw me back in.
Yeah, well. Next week we have a great guest
coming up, so I don't know if you'll be able to be there or
not, but at least I hope you will give a listen.
Oh, I'll, I'll listen either way, but I hope I'm there.
We'll we'll listen and see. I'll be honest with you, Ben.
(53:04):
I listen all the time. Just at work.
I'll put our our stuff on just because I want to hear if I or
you actually sound like idiots or if we sound like we know what
we're talking about. Yeah, come to come to find out,
we apparently sometimes sound like we know what we're talking
(53:26):
about. Holy smokes.
I know it's, it was news to me too.
But anyways, guys, we all, we appreciate everyone of you.
We really want to encourage you to send us an e-mail or message
collection obsession pod@gmail.com or whatnot.
