What does justice mean to you? What does it look like for us to harness the power we have to shift our culture? The great Dr. Cornel West once said, “Justice is what love looks like in public”. As a black woman, as a person of color, the pursuit of justice and a more fair and equitable world is something that I fight for. There is no chance of opting out, it is my real life. Justice means different things to each of us but, I think that we can agree that it requires love. Justice requires that we hold up the contrast all around us and that we hold space for humanity, both our own and the humanity of those around us. It is indeed a journey, but one that I believe we must all make. Today’s coloring session is special as I am joined by the passionate Kelly Diels. Join Kelly and I for a vulnerable conversation on justice and making space for joy. Tune in to hear more about the moment that led to Kelly dedicating herself to “this love work”, how she is finding space to pursue her joy, and why she believes there is no such thing as falling behind.
Meet the Artist: Kelly Diels
Kelly Diels is a Feminist Business Consultant, educator, thinker, writer, mama, lover and fighter living in the unceded territories of the Stó:lō Nation. Kelly describes herself as a coach for culture makers and works with people that are trying to shape the world and to dismantle all forms of oppression using whatever resources they have available to them. She’s here to raise awareness about how the business-as-usual formulas we learn everywhere actually reproduce oppression and she develops and teaches alternate, feminist marketing tools to help us do it differently. Kelly’s business is based on three tenets, to help culture makers personally get out of shame and into power and use it to change EVERYTHING, professionally grow a business that makes money and justice, and politically co-create a future in which we all flourish.
