-  how Referrals helped me launch my Coaching business and start creating 5-figure months as a coach right from the get-go.

Kushla Chadwick (00:00):
Hey, welcome to another minisode.
I'm so excited.
today I'm gonna kind of riff alittle bit on an old fashion
type of marketing.
I think it's old fashionedanyway.
But it's really simple, andreally pow erful.
It's what actually helpedlaunch my coaching business and
I think it might be somethingyou might want to add to your
marketing.

(00:42):
So, this is a funny question.
The question is does referralmarketing still work?
And I know when I hear thewords referral marketing it
sounds like 1980s, maybe even1970s to me.
It's just just old-fashionedand yet for me, I love referral
marketing.
It's not the main form ofmarketing that I do right, but I

(01:05):
have structure set up in place, because I know that it works
well.
It's really simple to do, ifyou're good at your craft right,
i f you're confident about thevalue you bring, about the
transformation you can helppeople with within?
Yes, of course, and if you hadclients who had success, even
better, like be cause they'regonna become your raving fans,
and you wanna have things inplace where it makes it easy for

(01:28):
them to refer other people towork with you.
know, let's shine, actually doa great job.
They just are going to want towant to refer you to other
people anyway.
But it doesn't mean you can'thave structures in place to make
it easier for more people tosay, hey, I want to send someone
your way, right?
So does referral marketing work?
A big hell, yes, it works.

(01:49):
It works so well.
I have made hundreds ofthousands of dollars from
referral marketing alone withvery, very simple structures.
So if you are thinking about itfor sure, see, I'm like a big
yes, add that to your marketingsuite.
Now would it be the only way ofmarketing that you do?

(02:12):
I recommend a big hell no tothat, because there are cases
where, in fact, I had a clientstart working with me.
She was getting all of thebusiness from referrals and then
the company that she wasworking with that was sending
her referrals for the business.
They had some changes andliterally overnight all the

(02:35):
referrals that she was gettingsent to her dried up.
And she suddenly went fromearning like five figures per
month to nothing.
And so, yeah, just relying onreferrals alone is a very unsafe
strategy, in my opinion.
Really amazing to support youwhen you've got other strategies

(02:57):
in place as well.
And the thing is you don't havecontrol over referrals.
Like you have control over whatyou're putting in Facebook
group.
You have control over theemails that you send.
You don't have control actually, I will say you don't have
control of Facebook itself, theplatform, but you know there is
more control there versusreferral marketing.

(03:20):
So, yes, it works.
It works brilliantly.
Yo u want to do it the right waybecause, oh my goodness, some
people do it in such a like, afunky way.
It's like ugh, it repels people.
You want to do it the right way.
There's some really simple, elegant, really lovely ways that
you can do referral marketingand, like I said, I've made tons

(03:42):
of money.
It a ctually helped launch mycoaching business and I had one
person send me three referralsall of them signed up to work
with me.
Those are my first coachingclients and I was often away and
doing five figure months rightfrom the very beginning, which I
know isn't common for a lot ofcoaches, but it was great for me
, though you know that I don'twant to make it sound like it

(04:04):
was an overnight success, because I was not.
I had years of like trainingand learning and doing other
things, trying other things, andon the online space first.
So you know, I just don't wantto give that false assumption.
But back to the point, referrals can be an amazing way
to get clients and really simple, really elegant.

(04:26):
So, I hope that that answersyour question well.
Add it to your marketing suiteif you're thinking about it, and
if you are really good at yourcraft, if you're confident about
the transformation you offerpeople, if you have clients who
say that oh, my goodness, thatwas so good working with you.
Then for sure you're ready to,if you haven't got one in place,

(04:48):
put in a referral strategy inwhat you're already doing that's
working well.
Okay?
It just makes sense to do that.
If you are at the beginning ofyour journey, you're like a hard
"no, I haven't.
I Haven't worked with anypaying clients yet.
You could be the same as me.

(05:08):
Everyone's gonna have theirfirst coaching client and, as I
said, my fir st coaching clientswere from referrals.
And so, I didn't know that I'dbe, like I didn't have, not that
I didn't know, I felt like Iknew that I'd been amazing coach
right.
So, I had that confidence inmyself and had confidence in my
ability to figure things out.
And I would just say, as longas you know that you're at least

(05:32):
a step or two ahead of theclients you're gonna enroll, and
you feel confident about thatstep or two where you're ahead
of them.
And you're not trying to makeit sound like more than that.
Like, you can just specificallyhelp them with a problem you're
helping them to solve, and youfeel good about your ability to
do that.
Then, you're on to a sweetthing.
You know one of my firstclients actually,

(05:54):
signed up to work with me as areferral, and she wanted help to
create the Tele Summit right.
Now, I had created a TeleSummit before so, I could help
her to do that.
I had created a checklist ofall the things that I did to
create the Telesummit blah, blah, blah right.

(06:14):
Now, had I done tons of TeleSummits before?
No, I hadn't, but I had doneone and I participated in others
.
So I knew the tech side of whatneeded to be done, and that was
enough.
Like I wasn't the Tele Summitqueen, but it was enough.
Actually, it was more thanenough for her because within a

(06:37):
matter of a few weeks, she hadbuilt that Tally Summit and her
putting it together, and mehelping to put it together and
knowing what to do.
She had built an email list upto it over a thousand people.
And, if you know anything aboutwas building, you'll know that
starting out the gate, like thiswas her starting a marketing
journey.
Like starting off, and buildinga list of over a thousand

(06:59):
people in a few short weeks isawesome, right?
And so, yeah, we're able to dothat and kickstart her own
coaching expert business.
Anyway, does referral marketingwork?
Yes.
And if it's speaking to youright now, and you want to be
able to add it to your plate, goand do it.

(07:22):
"Go do it as my recommendation.
If you want help and supportdoing that, reach out to me and
my team and you we will speakabout how we can help you to
implement an awesome referralstrategy that will really help
bring in more paying clients.
Okay, anyway, let's work withthe job, can't you see?
