Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to the Construction Veteran Podcast.
I'm Scott Friend, and now it'stime for Episode 2 in our series
talking about conqueringconstruction challenges.
Let's dig into it.
On today's episode, we're goingto be talking about navigating

(00:27):
logistical hurdles.
We're going to delve into thelogistical challenges faced by
construction teams and exploreinnovative solutions for
overcoming them.
From transportation constraintsto supply chain disruptions,
these challenges can impactproject timelines and budgets,
but with strategic planning andcreative problem solving,
construction teams can keepprojects moving forward

(00:48):
effectively.
Logistical challenges are justan inherent part of the industry
.
These can be difficult withthings like transportational
issues, supply chain disruptionsor even site access.
By leveraging technology andcollaboration, though, we can
overcome these hurdles.
Inventory is huge.
Let's talk about how we manageinventory effectively.

(01:08):
As a general contractor, we needto make sure that we're staying
in contact with our tradepersonnel, as well as the
vendors, to make sure when arethings coming?
What's the footprint?
Where's it going?
One thing we can do is usetechnology to plan the
logistical routes.
How is it physically coming tothe site?
Is it coming from overseas on aboat?
Is it coming in a semi?
Is it something small that'scoming on, maybe a stake bed or

(01:29):
a small truck?
One thing I've seen us do overthe last few years is using
drones to figure out what's theoverlay of the actual project
site, so we figure out how wecan most effectively bring the
materials into the site, believeit or not, communication also
plays a huge role in this.
We want to set the expectationwith all stakeholders in the
project to talk about how are webringing this in and let's let

(01:49):
you know how we can mosteffectively get it to the site,
but also offload it and get itto where it goes.
Relationships are huge when itcomes to this, building
relationships with suppliers, vendors, our trade contractors
and the customer.
We have to build a mutual trustwith all parties.
By embracing innovation,fostering collaboration and
implementing strategic planning, construction teams can overcome

(02:12):
logistical challenges and keepprojects moving forward
efficiently.
With proactive problem solvingand a commitment to excellence,
we ensure the successfulcompletion of construction
projects, no matter theobstacles.
