Thad Starner is a professor of computing at Georgia Tech and a pioneer of wearable computing, human computer interaction and artificial intelligence. He produced over 600 academic presentations and papers on these topics as well as over 100 US utility patents. A founder of the ACM International Symposium on Wearable Computers in 1997, Thad helped establish the academic field of wearable computing and coined the term augmented reality in 1990 as part of a fellowship he received from the United States Air Force to study the topic. Starner was also a Technical Lead on Google's Project Glass head worn display, which was named one of the "50 Most Influential Gadgets of All Time" by Time Magazine.
