Exavier Pope and Whitney Capps joined Jill Hopkins and special guest co-host Daniel Kisslinger on this week's Peace Council to discuss the conclusion and the aftermath of the Jason Van Dyke trial. The ex-Chicago cop received a sentence of 81 months in prison for the murder of Laquan McDonald in 2014. Van Dyke fired 16 shots at the unarmed Black teenager. The Council also talked about the recent viral and much-discussed incident involving a confrontation between the "MAGA teens" and a Native elder during two concurring marches in Washington D.C. They also shared their takes on Cardi B, the political pundit. The Rap star has been active and vocal on social media about her personal views on politics, often calling out officials and members of the government. Exavier Pope is host of the Suit UP Podcast, a sports legal analyst, and an award winning sports and entertainment attorney. Whitney Capps is a leadership and team effectiveness coach with ClearSpace, LLC, the co-host and co-creator of the Split The Difference podcast, a host of Grown Folks' Stories and The Forum monthly community events at The Silver Room. She is also a member of improv teams Daytona and FlyClap. The Morning AMp airs 8-10 AM M-F on Vocalo 91.1 FM in Chicago and streaming at vocalo.org
