Speaker 1 (00:14):
Hey everyone, welcome
to the Create your Day podcast.
I'm your host, Jen Cody, andthank you so much for being here
with me this week.
I am excited about this week'sepisode because I do a lot of
work with AI and usually it hasto do with my business and I
really do use it like anassistant at this point.
(00:36):
There's so much capability whenit comes to AI and I know that.
I mean if we can just get realfor a second.
I know a lot of times whenpeople hear the word AI, they
think like futuristic, theythink it's going to replace
everybody, we're going to all beout of jobs, and it sounds kind
of cool, but I'm too tired totry to figure it out.
(00:57):
And I totally understand.
But I'm here today to tell youthat AI is our friend and when
we use it the right way, it canactually help us, not just in
business, but in our self-care.
So you know, everything I'm allabout is finding balance right,
(01:20):
Living our lives in a balancedway, being brave, being bold,
and that requires taking care ofourselves, and so what I want
to share with you today is thatif your brain feels like you
always have 37,000 open tabs andyour to-do list is just growing
and growing and growing.
This episode is for you becausewe are going to talk all about
(01:44):
how we can use AI to make ourlife feel lighter and how we can
be less overwhelmed, eventhough AI may feel a little
overwhelming.
So we're going to talk aboutreal things.
I'm going to actually walk youthrough how to use it, so this
is not one of those things whereit's like, oh, just use AI to
(02:07):
do that for you.
No, no, I'm going to tell youexactly what you need to do when
you are implementing some ofthese things, and there is
really an overwhelming amount ofways that we can use AI in our
business, in our life, with ourfamilies, and I know that this
(02:27):
is what you guys are all dealingwith.
If you are listening to thispodcast, you are someone who is
trying to achieve a lot ofdifferent things in your life,
so chances are you're jugglingsome work obligations, Maybe
you're managing a team, You'retrying to figure out how to be
there for your family a team, you're trying to figure out how
to be there for your family, andin between all of that, we're
trying to stay hydrated andmeditate, not spiral out of
(02:50):
control.
Right?
It's not that easy.
So how can AI actually help us,and how can it help us in a way
that feels useful and not likeI'm giving you one more thing to
do on your plate?
That's really the key here.
This is not oh, here's 10 morethings for you to add to your
(03:13):
to-do list.
This is supposed to be usefulto you.
This is supposed to be thingsthat can actually make your life
feel a little more manageable.
And before we get into it, Iwant to let you know that I have
actually put this all togetherfor you in a free download so
you can go over to jenncodycomJ-E-N-N-C-O-D-Ycom slash
(03:38):
self-care and there's a freedownload there for you with all
of these kinds of ways to use AIin your self-care, so that you
don't have to remembereverything I say today.
It's all taken care of for you.
So I will absolutely link thatin the show notes and remind you
at the end of the episode whereyou can go.
But jencodycom backslashself-care free download for you.
(04:03):
Okay, so let's talk aboutdecision fatigue.
We've spoken about it on heremany times, and decision fatigue
is basically when you wake upin the morning and you already
feel foggy because you have somany things going on in your
brain that you just don't knowhow you can possibly prioritize.
It's like when everything isimportant, nothing is important,
(04:25):
so we decide not to makedecisions at all because it's
too overwhelming to think aboutwhat decisions we have to make.
So I'm going to walk you, stepby step, how you can use ChatGPT
or any AI tool you prefer.
Free versions are fine.
This is how you can help withdecision fatigue.
So open up your AI tool.
(04:46):
So I tend to use ChatGPT rightnow.
So open up ChatGPT and typesomething like give me five
healthy dinner ideas.
You can even be very specificGive me.
Look in your refrigerator, seewhat's available, and then you
can say give me five healthydinner ideas that use chicken,
rice and broccoli or use, youknow, whatever it is that you're
(05:09):
trying to use up in yourrefrigerator.
That will absolutely be helpful.
You don't have to come up withwhat to do.
You don't have to come up withhow to make it.
It will give you the ideas.
It will tell you how to makethem.
You can say give me fivehealthy dinner ideas that will
take me less than 20 minutes, orthat use a crock pot.
(05:30):
You know, give it whateverdirection you want, but you
don't have to.
You can it's almost like Google, but with direction and support
, if that makes sense.
So that's some way that you canuse it for decision fatigue.
You can also.
Maybe you're really overwhelmedat work this week and you need
to let people know that youcan't take anything else on.
(05:52):
But how many times have youbeen sitting at your desk and
you're wondering how to saysomething without it coming off
the wrong way?
I know my daughter is famousfor this.
She'll be like writing a letterto her professor, to someone at
work, and asking me over andover again does this sound okay?
Does this sound okay?
Like we second guess ourselvesall the time.
(06:13):
So, using ChatGPT to just openit up and put the prompt in,
write me a friendly, clear emailthat says I can't take extra
work on this week.
Or write me a friendly andclear email that says I can't
take extra work on this week.
Or write me a friendly andclear email that says I cannot
attend that work event or I'munavailable for that meeting.
There are ways for us to becomemore practiced in communicating
(06:35):
in a way that feels really goodto us when we use AI to help us,
Because sometimes we know whatwe want to say, but it may take
us 10 tries to write thesentence until we feel like it
actually feels good to us.
Right, it feels like themessage is getting across the
way that we want it to, and it'salso making us feel like we're
(07:00):
helping the situation.
So you can ask ChatGPT to giveyou 10 options of that email so
that you can kind of become morefamiliar with what feels really
good for you.
The point is to let AI do theheavy lifting here and then you
can tweak it so that it soundslike you and not robotic, and AI
(07:21):
has come so far when it comesto this.
You can say I want you to writethis in a way that doesn't
sound like AI was involved, andit will tweak the way the
conversation goes.
What I want you to reallyremember here is that this is
not cheating.
This is how you outsource thethings that make you say like,
oh, I do not want to be doingthis, so don't think of it as
(07:45):
cheating.
Okay, let's talk more about howAI can help us with self-care,
because one of the things that Iam an advocate for but I don't
find that it comes easily to meis journaling.
I work with so many people thatjournaling is just everything to
(08:05):
them.
They wake up in the morning, they start writing and they
really have so much self-carebenefits from journaling.
I mean, it's just.
I don't have to tell you allthe benefits of it.
We all know that this issomething that really does help
get our brain focused, keep usreally in line with what our
(08:28):
values and what's in alignmentfor us.
Right Like journaling is how wecan kind of put our
circumstances into perspectiveby pen to paper or typing things
out.
Once we start to see it inblack and white, it really does
feel different to us.
But blank page anxiety for me isa real thing.
(08:49):
I get, I sit down, I feel likeI'm so motivated to do it and I
just don't know what to do.
So here is something that willhelp you Letting AI help you
start this process, even if youonly have five minutes.
So again, step by step, you'regoing to open up ChatGPT or
(09:10):
Gemini or Abacus anything thatyou want to be using and you're
going to say give me ajournaling prompt to help me
process overwhelm or help mereflect on why I feel stuck even
when I'm getting things done.
You know, sometimes journaling,we want to journal because of
(09:31):
something specific, so this isnot necessarily about sitting
down and asking AI give me ajournal prompt for the day,
although you can do that.
This is more about telling AIwhat you're feeling, what you're
dealing with, and asking it tohelp you journal through that
situation.
You can choose the prompt thatit gives you that feels good to
(09:53):
you, and then you can type yourthoughts right into AI, because
AI can be your thinking partnerhere.
Or you can write your responsein the notebook and just use the
AI as a springboard for you,Because this is all about
helping to guide you to claritynot to perfection, right.
It's about changing theperspective and about letting AI
(10:18):
be your thinking partner, honestly, like really allowing
it to help you get from sittingdown staring at the blank page
to okay, now I start to feel.
I'm starting to feel a littlebit different about my
circumstances.
I'm starting to see how thisfits into my life right now, and
if you're someone who's lookingto just start journaling and
(10:41):
you haven't had the time oryou've been a little confused
about how to fit it into yourlife, you can also use AI to
create a journal for you so youcan sit down and ask ChatGPT
create 30 days of journalprompts for me so I can start my
(11:02):
journey with journaling.
So, yeah, there's so many waysand as you do this, you will
definitely start to feel morecomfortable and you'll start to
notice that when you sit downwith your ChatGPT comfortable
and you'll start to notice thatwhen you sit down with your chat
GPT, you know already what todo.
You know like you're not goingto need my prompts to help you,
(11:22):
because every time, the same way, artificial intelligence gets
smarter.
The more that it deals with youand the more that it interacts
with you, you're going to getsmarter at learning how to
prompt the AI to give you whatyou need.
So that's one way that you canuse AI to help you start
journaling, because that'ssomething I'm definitely going
(11:45):
to be doing, because I alwayssay that I want to journal and
it just I don't know, it feelslike a chore to me, and this
whole idea of this week'sepisode is how to use AI to keep
things that are overwhelming,to have them start feeling like
they're being taken off of ourplate instead of adding more
things to our plate.
So I may try this for thejournaling.
(12:07):
Now I want to talk about how wecan use AI for our scheduling.
You guys know that I am ahardcore time management junkie.
I feel like once you own yourtime and your schedule, your
life drastically changes.
So if you are someone out therethat right now you're like I
(12:28):
need a schedule that feelssupportive.
My schedule feels like it issuffocating me.
Ai can help you design yourweek based on your real life,
not like the unrealisticPinterest and Instagram lives
that we look at every day.
So this is what I want you todo.
This is a really great exerciseSit down and make a list of
(12:50):
what is non-negotiable in yourweek and when you think about
what's non-negotiable.
These are things like droppingyour kids off at school, right,
Maybe meetings that you havescheduled for work, Workouts If
you go to the gym.
What are the different timesthat are non-negotiable?
You want to make sure thatthose are in there.
(13:12):
And then I want you to add insome rest blocks, even if it's
10 minutes, 15 minutes.
It doesn't have to be an hour,it doesn't even have to be 30
minutes, but just adding it inand making it your
non-negotiable.
So, at least 10 minutes a day.
Add into this list.
Then you go to ChatGPT and youtype in help me create a
(13:34):
time-blocked weekly schedulethat includes these tasks, and
you're going to paste your listin there.
You can give it furtherdirection and say I only want
these things to happen betweenthe hours of 9 am and 5 pm, or I
only want this to happen onTuesdays and Thursdays.
Whatever it is, but let thisorganize your week.
(13:58):
It won't be perfect, but itwill be a brilliant starting
point.
You can ask the AI to optimizefor focus time, optimize for
your energy levels Like maybeyou're someone who just has a
really big energy dip at threeo'clock in the afternoon, right,
that's a really common time.
Tell it that.
Let AI help you move from beingreactive to like the chaos
(14:23):
that's going on to being reallyintentionally calm.
And getting control of ourschedules is the first step in
feeling like we're notsuffocating.
So, again, this is all in thefree download for you.
Like we're not suffocating.
So again, this is all in thefree download for you, along
with some other ideas as well.
So now, something else that Ilove to chat with you guys about
(14:44):
is setting boundaries.
Well, Can we use AI to help usset boundaries without being
guilty.
You bet your ass we can, solet's talk about it.
Setting boundaries is self-care.
It just is so.
When we can set boundaries byusing the right words, even when
we're really tired of trying tofind the right words, this can
(15:07):
feel like an impossible chore.
So I want you to think about aboundary that you need to set.
It can be personally, it can beat work, whatever it is.
So maybe this could be likesaying no to a favor that
someone asked you.
It can be declining a meetingthat you were invited to attend.
It can be taking on a project,Whatever it is.
(15:28):
Think about a boundary that youneed to set, and then I want you
to go into chat GPT and writewrite me a kind but firm message
saying I'm unavailable for thisright now.
Or you can also phrase it helpme say no without a sound,
without sounding apologetic.
(15:48):
That's a big deal.
We tend to spend a lot of timeapologizing for our own
boundaries, and that's a shiftthat's important for you to make
.
You don't need to be sorry thatyou have a boundary.
It's a good thing that you havea boundary.
So, asking ChatGPT help me sayno without sounding apologetic.
(16:10):
Or write this message so that Isound nice and kind, but it's
also firm and they know that I'mnot open to negotiating Then
you can review whatever it givesyou, tweak it so that it sounds
more like you and hit send.
What I would say at this pointis you can save this in a
(16:31):
document so that you can use itlater.
So if you find that this spitsout really good content for you,
save it to a document that'scalled you know boundary scripts
, and then you can go back andnext time you find yourself
unsure of what to say, you kindof have a script already set to
go Because, let's face it, youknow boundaries.
(16:52):
They're emotional and we feellike exhausted by the time we're
done trying to figure it allout.
So letting AI help you withthis is a huge, huge benefit.
So these are some ways that AIcan be helpful to you, but
there's so many ways that we cando this.
You know there are so manythings that AI can do for us,
(17:16):
and that's why I created theself-care suite in the download
that I'm offering to you guys.
So I want you to be able tolook at your self-care situation
and how you're using your time, because, especially if you're
going to use that prompt aboutcreating time for yourself.
(17:36):
Let it create time for you touse these prompts for AI
self-care, you know.
So the download that's availableto you again, it's at
jencodycom backslash self-careone word jencodycom, backslash
self-care one word.
It includes things likemeditation scripts, guided
(18:00):
visualization scripts, personalaffirmations that you can create
for yourself, boundary settingscripts, morning journaling all
of those things are included inthere.
We also have some emotionalprocessing tools, right, Because
it can be hard to create, youknow, boundaries for ourselves,
(18:20):
just to be able to process ourown emotions.
How can we transform fear thatwe're feeling into something
else?
We can use AI to do all of thisand to help us on this path and
help us through this journey.
So I encourage you to head onover to JenCodycom and just
click the download JenCodycombackslash self-care.
Let me know what you're thinkingabout, Let me know what you
(18:43):
think of it, and remember thatAI is not the hero of the story,
right, You're still the hero ofyour story, but why don't we
let AI be the support person, bethe personal assistant that
you're looking for, be the onewho can prep your notes, who can
draft your emails, who helpsyou meal plan.
How many of you wish you had apersonal assistant that can do
(19:06):
all of these things for you.
And then, bonus, maybe evenmake you not forget to breathe
once in a while, Because, if wecan use it intentionally, AI
actually gives you back themental bandwidth that makes you
overwhelmed.
So this way, you can actuallyspend time on things that move
the needle for you, or restingwithout feeling guilt.
(19:29):
If we can rest without feelingguilt, that's real self-care.
So I'm hoping that this episodewas helpful and actually maybe
made you sigh a little bit inrelief.
That's what I want.
I want you to really want to godeeper and I want you to check
out that download and see howyou can start to use AI to
(19:54):
release yourself from overwhelm,Because you didn't work this
hard to just feel burnt out andexhausted all the time.
Right, we want to be able tomove forward in a way that feels
good.
We want to move forward in away that makes us feel like
we're getting closer to thethings that we're trying to
accomplish, and not further awaybecause we're just treading
(20:15):
water.
So I hope this episode washelpful for you.
As always, I will ask for you toplease go on over.
Leave a review, leave a rating.
It helps the podcast reach moreand more people, and that's so
important right.
The more people we can reach, the more lives we can change,
and we're doing it together.
So thank you so much forspending time with me.
(20:37):
I really appreciate it.
I know your time is valuable.
I know you have 100 thingsright.
We're all spinning these platesin the air, and the fact that
you chose to spend some timewith me does not go overlooked.
So thank you so much.
I will see you next week.
Until then, take care ofyourselves, take care of each
other and have a good one.
Take care.
