Let us know what you think of this podcast!

When the pages of "Creating Belonging" came to life during our inaugural podcast season, I uncovered a tapestry of diverse human stories that not only enriched our dialogue but also unexpectedly deepened my own understanding of belonging. Reflect with us as we revisit the high points and transformative conversations with incredible guests who lent their voices to this journey, some of whom will be featured in the upcoming second edition of my book. Their generous sharing of personal experiences has woven a broader narrative that you, too, can be part of—reach out, and your story may just join this expanding collage in print.

As we cue up for the next season, expect a symphony of fresh perspectives with a line-up of dynamic guests, including those from the LGBTQ+ community, who'll share their unique experiences on religion, family, love, and career. It's not just about queer identities; our canvas remains broad, inviting a rich exchange across all backgrounds. Stay tuned for heart-to-heart exchanges with a mix of familiar and new voices, opening doors to new connections and the ongoing evolution of belonging. Embrace the richness of this journey with us, without preconceptions, letting each story and its lessons naturally steer us through another invigorating season.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
A year ago, I decided to begin a podcast around the
focus of my book CreatingBelonging.
I wasn't sure to expect and Ionly committed myself to 10
episodes.
What surprised me is thatproducing the podcast was one of
the best things that I did lastyear.
It was great to engage withothers, share their stories and
learn more from them Throughtheir stories.
It actually helped me deepen myunderstanding of the work, and

(00:21):
it's an interesting thing todevelop a model.
One would assume that if it'syour creation, it should all
make sense, or that you wouldthought through everything, but
that's just not true.
It was through my conversationswith others, hearing their
experiences and contextualizingthem into the Creating Belonging
model that I gained a deeperunderstanding of some of the
pockets and corners around it.
I hope the stories helped youas well and I can't thank my

(00:43):
first season guests enough fortheir participation in the
podcast.
This past fall, I made adecision to begin working on the
second edition of my book, creating Belonging.
When I published it in May of2022, I knew it wasn't finished.
I knew I wanted to explore morecorners of the research and I
also acknowledged that thestories in the book are all told
entirely through my lens.

(01:04):
I knew I wanted to get others'stories a part of the book, so
enter in the beauty of thepodcast.
Some of the stories my guestsso graciously shared will be
appearing in the second editionof the book, with their
permission, of course.
And if you would be interestedin sharing a story of your
experience, please reach out.
I'd love to include it.
So, beyond the lookout for thesecond edition of Creating

(01:24):
Belonging a practical guide toaccelerate belonging in
organizations and communities Idon't have an official
anticipated publish date, butyou will see it before the end
of 2024.
And if you want to get yourhands on the first edition copy,
it is still available on Amazon.
So on to this next season ofthe podcast.
In the first season, and reallythe first year of my work of

(01:45):
creating Belonging, I wanted tomake sure that it was something
for all audiences.
I worked to ensure a diverseset of perspectives from our
guests, but it started to feellike I was reaching too wide,
maybe diluting the message a bit, and so, while I still want the
work and my guests to be fromall backgrounds, I've decided to
pivot slightly.
This year.
I found that it was easier forme to connect with others from

(02:06):
within the LGBTQ plus umbrella, and so, as such, you might start
to see the work take a bit of aslant in that direction, but by
no means is it only for queeridentifying folks.
I have a fun slate of guests ondeck not all queer identifying
and we explore a lot ofdifferent types of experiences.
We'll talk deeper aboutreligion, family dynamics,

(02:27):
non-traditional relationships,and then, of course, we'll talk
about some good and bad bosses.
Another fun dynamic is that thefirst season was primarily
folks in my immediate network, and so this season I've reached
out and we'll have some folksthat I'm familiar with, but we
have a lot of brand new folksthat are joining on the podcast
and some really greatconversations that I've had.

(02:48):
Some of them were talking forthe first time, and what's also
been great is we've alreadystarted building those
relationships further.
So I'm excited for you toexplore the second season of the
podcast with me.
While at this point, I'verecorded several of the episodes
, I haven't put a cap or acommitment on how long the
season is going to be, so followalong and let's see how the

(03:09):
journey flows.
