Dan Lam is an internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, known for her bold and unique sculptures. Her otherworldly, drippy sculptural work pushes boundaries and explores intriguing contrasts by mixing unconventional materials, organic forms and bright colours.
She is a major hit on social media, with over a million people following her @sopopomo Instagram and TikTok accounts, which stands for “so post-post-modern”. Her work has been exhibited in galleries all over the United States as well as internationally, and is in the collections of celebrity clients.
She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas and a Master of Fine Arts from Arizona State University. As an artist, she says her goal is not to provide answers but to pose questions to challenge viewers to confront the contradictions inherent in the world around them.
On this episode, host Angela de Burger chats with Dan about how she blends her technical expertise with play and experimentation, her artistic explorations of size and scale, and how she creates new ways for audiences to interact with her work.
