Speaker 1 (00:08):
Welcome to the Curation, a show for the
culturally curious.
This is your host, noor Hassan.
Each week, I'll guide youthrough a curated edit of the
finest in art, fashion, design, culture, luxury, wellness, tech
and more.
This is your go-to space fordiscovering trailblazing ideas,
untold stories and meaningfulconversations with innovators

(00:31):
and creators who are shaping ourworld.
There's no gatekeeping here, sosit back, tune in and let's
discover only the best together,together.

(00:52):
Hey everyone, this is Noor andyou're listening to the Curated
by Noor podcast, so this episodeis my edited morning routine.
I had done the Truth About the5am Club episode I think it was
almost one year ago now and Ineed to edit it because a lot
has changed since and I thinkit's really important to share
it with you guys.
So in my previous episode howto be the girl, part two I

(01:13):
shared with you guys somethingcalled the morning pages,
without Julia Cameroon.
Julia Cameroon, she's an author.
She wrote a book called theartist's way, okay, and so part
of my morning routine now hasbecome actually writing my
morning pages.
This is something that I neverused to do, but it's what I do
in the morning to start, andit's really a life changer, but

(01:36):
not for the reasons you wouldthink I do not look at my phone
for a good 30 minutes, maybe anhour, if I can, when I first
wake up.
I try to wake up around 6 amit's not really 5 anymore.
I think that's a bitunrealistic.
And then I also try to makesure that I don't drink coffee

(01:57):
for an hour and 20 minutes, which is something Andrew Hugh
Berman talks about a lot, whichis not to hack your adrenaline
system with coffee when youfirst get up.
One of the most important thingsthat I added to the morning
routine is a walk.
I think, if you can, it wouldbe really cool to try to take a
walk, even if it's likeliterally 500 meters around the
block, around wherever Yanni, around where you're living,

(02:19):
yanni.
I think it just is a lot lesspressure than doing a 7am
workout or an 8am workout.
If you're in a city like Dubai, for example, you can really get
to a 6.30am workout class andthat's easy.
But in Cairo we don't reallyhave many group 6.30am workout
classes.
It's a different culture, soyou have to be very aware of

(02:41):
where you are.
In different cities London, Ithink you can even get a 5am.
I don't know like some citiesare like that.
But right here, where I am now, which is Cairo, I feel like the
better thing to do is to startoff with some sort of a walk and
then maybe you can get into aworkout.
One of the things that I reallylike doing as well is not
reading in the morning, butreading later in the day.

(03:02):
I find that if you read in themorning, it really you get into
a very slower pace.
You don't need to start offbeing so grounded.
I like to get the day going.
If I'm filming anything for thepodcast, for example, I like to
make sure that I have a verylight breakfast, very light.
I can have a coffee, somethinglike that, but that's it If I'm

(03:25):
not filming.
If I'm teaching Pilates, then Ilike to make sure that I can
eat something.
You know you have to have theenergy to teach and make sure
that that is something that youcan do and you can actually
deliver the appropriate amountof energy.
Another thing I changed from thelast time, I really think, is
that I decided that I don't wantto have the longest morning

(03:47):
routine, but I do want toprioritize having a slow morning
.
There are a lot of people wholike the 5-5-5 split or
something like that, where youget up and you work out and
you're in a very fast, veryattack the day mentality and I
realized actually, no, I don'tlike that.
I prefer, you know, to have avery slow paced morning and the
day gets faster and builds as itgoes.

(04:08):
I think, honestlyaha for me,that's a lot better.
I feel like today, I build upenergy and then you can ground
at the end of the day.
So those are my main thingsthat I changed for my morning
routine.
5 am club episode.
That I did.
That I was very excited aboutguys, and it didn't last long,
let me tell you, because it's areally, really difficult one to
maintain when I live in Cairoagain, depends on the city.

(04:32):
When I'm in Dubai, it's easier.
So the evening routine issomething that I'll get into now
as well, which is, I think, forme, not as important to keep
consistent.
A lot of people talk about howbig do you need to have the same
evening routine.
I think the most important thing, honestly, is to get to bed as
early as you can, but Iunfortunately I'm not that type

(04:54):
of person that is able to sleepearly, so I try to get there as
early as I can.
I try to read a little bit.
I try to allow myself theliberty of watching a little bit
of YouTube, a little bit ofpodcasts, tv, netflix, whatever
it is.
I don't believe in being rigidor strict anymore.
This is something that I fellinto as a trap as far as how I'm

(05:15):
listening to so many podcasts,so many TikToks, so many
whatever.
And now I say to them okay, everything has to be like
structured, you know, for everysingle day, I need to do X, y, z
as a Libra, as a manifestinggenerator, whatever it is in
human design.
As someone who likes a lot ofchange, this did not work for me
.
I felt like, honestly, I need alittle bit of flexibility.

(05:38):
Another thing I like to do,actually and I have it next to
me is my gratitude journaling, which this sounds so funny and
woo-woo, and when I heard this acouple of years ago, I was like
, oh my God, what are you onabout?
But basically, you just writedown three things you're
grateful for beginning and endof the day.
This is a very nice one.
We're actually going to produceone for you guys, and I just
think this helps you put thingsinto perspective.

(06:02):
I think, if you work, especiallyin a creative industry like
mine, where you have to dealwith a lot of different people,
the days are not same.
It's not a nine to five, whichis the thing I love the most.
You get to meet people, you getto go to different locations.
It's just so diverse, even ifyou are in a nine to five.

(06:24):
Honestly, no shade on that.
I think it's a brilliant,brilliant way to actually build
a career, but I think it'simportant to sit down and
actually just, even in yournotes app in your phone, write
down three things you'regrateful for beginning and end
of the day.
If not both, then eitherbeginning or end.
This is something that I love todo as part of the routine, and
I think one last thing I'llmention because we just did an

(06:46):
episode with Reem Hassan fromMatter, which is an amazing
matcha concept in Cairo is thatI stopped having three coffees a
day, which is not a morning ornight routine, guys, it's just a
tip from an entrepreneur, fromme to you.
I think it's so aggressive onyour system to have three

(07:06):
coffees a day.
Instead, I opt for a coffee anda matcha and something else,
and I think this really helpsyou balance any, which is a
diamond on an adrenaline rush 247.
Sometimes the day needs it.
Sometimes you need thatcaffeine kick.
That's fine, but ultimately Ithink it's really important to
just especially in your late 20searlys figure out a way to like

(07:31):
hack that in a different way,and you can listen to Reem's
episode for that.
So that's my morning and eveningroutine edited.
I hope you guys enjoyed it.
If you have any questions, please leave them in the
comments, and if you have aninteresting morning or evening
routine tip, please make sure toleave it in the comments as
well.
Thank you for listening andI'll speak to you next time.

(07:51):
Bye, guys.
