Speaker 1 (00:05):
From the Daily Os. I'm Emma Gillespie, I'm Billy fitz Simons.
It's Friday, the twenty third of May. Here's what's making
headlines this evening.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Four people have now been confirmed dead amid the New
South Wales flood crisis, with at least one other person
still missing. In a press conference today, New South Wales
Premier Chris Minn said emergency services have conducted nearly seven
hundred rescues since the floods began this week. He also
said the recovery can only begin once the floodwaters recede.

(00:35):
Prime Minister Anthony Alberzi said this flooding event shows we
are seeing more extreme weather events. They're occurring more frequently
and they are more intense.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
The contest for the New South Wales seat of Bradfield
has tightened to just three votes, although that number has
been changing throughout the day, so that's just where it's
at at the time of recording. It comes as the
Australi Alien Electoral Commission, which oversees the country's elections, is
currently undertaking the full distribution of preferences count in the

(01:07):
Sydney seat as it stands, Independent MP Nicolette Buller is
just ever so slightly ahead of Liberal candidate Giselle Capterarian.
The AEC holds a recount when fewer than one hundred
votes separate the two leading candidates. A reminder, these two
are separated by just three votes, but a recount date
for the seat of Bradfield has not yet been determined.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Denmark's parliament has passed a law to increase their time
in age to seventy by twenty forty, impacting those born
after nineteen seventy. Currently, their time in age is sixty seven.
The law pass with a majority vote. According to the BBC,
this means Denmark will have the highest retire in age
in Europe. The new law is partly because since two

(01:54):
thousand and six, Denmark's government has lifted their time in
age as life expectancies have all also increased. Under the agreement,
every five years the parliament votes on whether to increase
the age of retirement.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
And today's good news. Three Matilda's stars are set to
take to the field when Arsenal played Barcelona in the
Women's Champions League final on Sunday morning Australian Eastern Standard time.
Caitlin Ford's Steph Catley and Kayra Cooney cross A all
part of the Arsenal team that will play for Europe's
most prestigious football trophy. Defender Steph Cutley said playing in

(02:31):
a Champions League final is, along with probably a World
Cup final, as high as you can get. She said,
it's a proud moment for her and definitely puts a
smile on her face.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
That's the latest from the Dalios newsroom. Now, if you're
looking for something else to listen to over the weekend
and this week, we publish a three part investigation into
ozen pick.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
That's right, we sure did. I have spent several months
this year working on this one and it's finally out
there in the world. If you want a bit of
a snapshot into the state of play in Australia when
it comes to ozebic and these weight loss medications, check
it out. We speak to a bunch of patients who
bravely shared their experiences with us. You'll hear from health experts,

(03:14):
from people within the eating disorder space, some mental health stories.
It really covers a lot of bases, so check it out.
We'll put some links in the show notes.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
We will put a link to all three of those
episodes in the show notes. We'll be back on Sunday
with a bonus episode, but until then, have a great Friday.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Ooh, a bonus episode mystery.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
