Speaker 1 (00:05):
From The Daily Os. I'm Emma Gillespie, I'm Lucy Tassel.
It's Monday, the fifteenth of September. Here's what's making headlines
this evening.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
The Coalition has recorded its worst ever primary vote across
two major national polls. According to news Poll, twenty seven
percent of voters would put the coalition ahead of any
other party if an election was held today. This is
the worst primary result for the Liberal National Coalition since
news Poll began tracking party support in nineteen eighty five.

(00:34):
This result was mirrored by a Resolve polling for nine newspapers,
which also recorded a twenty seven percent coalition primary vote.
It comes after Opposition leader Susan Lee's decision to remove
Senator Justin to Nampajimber Price from the shadow cabinet over
controversial anti immigration comments targeting Australia's Indian community. Both polls
put Labour's primary vote between thirty five and thirty six percent,

(00:58):
while support for Pauline Hanson's One Nation has increased to
a record high ten to twelve percent. Anthony Albanezi leads
as preferred PM, ahead of Lee by at least twenty
points on both polls.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
A thirty nine year old has been charged by police
and handed a lifetime AFL ban after he allegedly performed
a Nazi salute during a game. The man was arrested
by Queensland police during Saturday's finals fixture between the Brisbane
Lions and Gold Coast Sons at the Gabba. A statement
from the AFL said quote, it is believed the man
allegedly gave the salute during the national anthem and Welcome

(01:34):
to country ceremony and was removed from the ground before
the semi final began. The league confirmed the alleged defender
has been permanently banned from attending any games across all
of its venues. The man has been charged and will
face a Brisbane court later this month.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Romania has become the second NATO country to detect a
Russian drone in its airspace in recent days. Romanian authorities
reported the breach on Sunday local time, days after Polish
government officials confirmed its army shot down Russian drones over
Polish airspace. The European Union's foreign policy chiefs said quote,
the violation of Romanian airspace by Russian drones is yet

(02:16):
another unacceptable breach of an EU member state sovereignty. Poland
and Romania are part of NATO, a military alliance of
thirty two European and North American countries. The organization's founding
treaty states an attack against one ally is considered as
an attack against all allies.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
And today's good news, Owen Cooper, the fifteen year old
star of the hit Netflix series Adolescence, has made history
at the Emmy Awards. Owen was named Best Supporting Actor
in a Drama Series, making him the youngest performer to
ever win in the category. The British teenager is also
the youngest male actor to win an Emmy across any category.

(02:55):
During his acceptance speech, Cooper said, the award proves quote,
if you listen, and you focus, and you step out
of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life.
Adolescents one four Emmys overall, with prizes for Directing, Writing,
and Best Limited Series. The Studio and The Pit were
the other big winners on the night.

Speaker 2 (03:14):

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
