Speaker 1 (00:09):
It's Friday, the twenty seventh of June. Here's what's making
headlines this evening.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Two men have been sentenced to life behind bars over
the twenty twenty two Perth murder of teenager Cassius Turvey.
Another man has been sentenced to twelve years in prison
for manslaughter. The fifteen year old Nongar boy was walking
home from school with friends when a group of adults
chased him down and beat him. Cassius was taken to
hospital where he later died of his injuries. Last month,

(00:37):
Jack Brayley and Brody Palmer were found guilty of murdering Cassius.
Another man, Mitchell Fourth, was convicted of manslaughter. All three
had pleaded not guilty. Speaking in the WA Supreme Court today,
Justice Peter Quinland told the accused Cassius Turvey was completely
and utterly innocent of any wrongdoing. The only reason that

(00:57):
he was the person killed by you was that he
was the person you happened to catch.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
The Media regulator has rejected a proposal to play more
alcohol ads on TV at times when children are more
likely to be watching. The Australian Communications in Media Authority
AKMA has been reviewing a proposal from free to air
broadcasters calling for a new industry code of practice. AKMA
has rejected the Free TV Australia submission, citing particular concern

(01:28):
around a proposal to quote extend the times when M
rated content would be permitted on commercial TV, including alcohol
advertising in child viewing hours. Based on evidence obtained during
the AKMA review, the regulator said the revised code submission
did not provide appropriate community safeguards.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
After nearly forty years in charge of American magazine Vogue,
and A Win Tour is stepping down as editor in chief.
Windtur who is considered one of global fashion's most influential figures,
became Vogue editor in nineteen eighty eight. She has also
led to the annual Met Gala as its chair since
nineteen ninety five. While the seventy five year old is

(02:10):
finishing up with the US magazine, she is not retiring altogether.
Win Tour will stay on as Vogue's Global editorial director
and Conde Nast's Chief Content Officer, overseeing publications including Vanity
Fair and GQ. Vogue said it will begin the process
of finding a new head of editorial content to quote
lead the magazine's daily operations.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
And today's good news. Astronauts from India, Poland, and Hungary
have become the first from their countries to visit the
International Space Station. A SpaceX craft carrying four crew members
launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday,
before docking at the ISS after a journey lasting more
than twenty four hours. Former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson is

(02:58):
leading the private Axiom for mission, which will spend the
next fourteen days aboard the space station conducting micro gravity research,
and as a spokesperson, congratulated the crew on the successful
launch and called it an honor to monitor their approach
to the ISS.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
