this evening.

Nine days since the federal election, four more closely contested
seats have been called Independent. Monik Ryan has retained the
seat of Couyong in Victoria, defeating Liberal candidate Amelia Hamer
by a margin of zero point five percent. In New
South Wales, liberal candidate Giselle Capterian has narrowly secured the
seat of Bradfield. Meanwhile, in Queensland, Green's MP Elizabeth Watson

Brown is projected to retain the seat of Ryan, fending
off coalition candidate Maggie Forrest. Watson Brown, who flipped the
traditionally Liberal seat in twenty twenty two, remains the only
Greens member to successfully defend a lower House seat. In
other news, David Little Proud will remain leader of the
National Party after Matt Canavan mounted an unsuccessful leadership challenge.

An Australian humanitarian worker has been killed in Ukraine. SBS
reported the man was volunteering for a charity called Prevail Together.
The organization provides humanitarian aid to Ukraine and also clears
land mines. In a press conference today, Prime Minister Anthony
Albernizi confirmed the Australian was an AID volunteer, not a

participant in the Russia Ukraine conflict. The PM said he
would not name the worker at this stage, but expressed
his quote deepest condolences and sympathies with his family and
loved ones.

Chess has been outlawed in Afghanistan, with the Taliban citing
concerns that the game promotes gambling. The Taliban and Islamic
extremist group has imposed several restrictions on Afghani life since
it seized power in twenty twenty one after the withdrawal
of US troops from the region. This includes several restrictions
on women, including banning them from high school's, university, and

most forms of employment. In a statement to French news
agency AFP, Taliban spokesman A Talmashwani said chess is considered

seek healthcare, regardless of their financial position. In a statement

on x the National Health Fund of Poland said patients
who use the free service will be able to discuss
their results with local medical staff, who will help them
create an individual health plan.
