Female participation in the workforce hit a record high in July.
That's according to new data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The amount of women employed or looking for employment rose
to sixty three point five percent in July. That's up
from sixty three point two percent in June. The unemployment
rate fell by zero point one percentage points to four
point two percent in July. This figure measures the percentage

of people who were looking for work but couldn't find any.
The ABS said the growth was driven by full time employment,
with forty thousand more women starting full time work in July.
That's compared to twenty thousand men. The overall participation rate
held steady at sixty seven percent. This figure measures the
percentage of Australians who are either employed or actively seeking employment.

Wales has increased by thirty four percent since twenty twenty three.
Official state government figures show there were two hundred and
thirty four under eighteen year olds in custody as of
June twenty twenty five, up from one hundred and seventy

Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research that's BOXAR said break
and enters have surged amongst young offenders, up two hundred
and twenty nine percent over the past two years. BOXAR
highlighted what it called the quote ongoing overrepresentation of young
First Nations people in custody, who make up eight percent
of all young people in New South Wales but account

for sixty percent of the youth detention cohort. Boxer Executive
director Jackie Fitzgerald called the figures particularly concerning, noting an
increased number of young people are currently being held on
romand nearly three in four young people in custody have
not been convicted and are awaiting their day in court.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and EU leaders have met for
a virtual summit, and that's ahead of US President Donald
Trump's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. During
the summit, leaders discuss the importance of a ceasefire that
will deliver quote stability and security in the region. Zelenski
said the leaders supported the efforts of US President Donald

Trump to end the war, stop the killings, and achieve
a just and lasting peace. If Putin fails to negotiate
as seas fire with Trump. This week, European countries avowing
to enforce more sanctions on Russia. Zelenski and his European
Union allies also agreed that international borders must be upheld
and Russia cannot take Ukrainian territory by force. In a

World Surf League Tahiti Pro event with victory in both
the men's and women's competitions. World number one Molly Picklum
and Jack Robinson each won their events to round out
the World Surf League regular season. Both surfers will compete
for a world title in Fiji later this month as
