It's Tuesday, the sixteenth of September. Here's what's making headlines
this evening.

The federal government has handed down its official guidelines for
social media platforms ahead of its under sixteens ban coming
into effect. New details on the ban, which comes into
effect from December, were announced by Communications Minister Anika Wells
and E Safety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant. Today, platforms must
take quote reasonable steps to ensure their users are over sixteen,

but there will be no requirement for platforms to verify
all users. Social media platforms that failed to stop under
sixteens from making accounts could face fines of up to
forty nine point five million. Minister Wells said, quote, there
is no excuse for social media platforms to fail to
meet their obligations under the new laws. Inman Grant will
head to the US next week for talks with tech

One person has died and seven others are injured after
a gas leak at a Sydney restaurant. New South Wales
Police were called to Riverstone in the city's northwest after
a restaurant owner reported finding an unconscious worker inside the venue.
Assistant Commissioner Gavin Wood said five officers attempted CPR on
the man quote to the point where they felt there

was something a little amiss in the environment, including an odor.
A twenty five year old could not be revived and
died at the scene. All five officers who tried to
revive him were taken to hospital for treatment relating to
a gas leak, as well as the restaurant owner and
his son. Fire and Rescue New South Wales have since
detected quote extremely high levels of carbon monoxide at the venue.

Chief Superintendent Jeff Hogan from Fire and Rescue New South
Wales said crews are continuing to undertake advanced testing to
identify a source or a potential cause for the leak.

US President Donald try Trump has announced plans to file
a multi billion dollar lawsuit against The New York Times
in opposed to truth social Trump confirmed he's taking action
against the publication, saying today I have the great honor
of bringing a fifteen billion dollar defamation and libel lawsuit
against The New York Times. Trump has made multiple recent

threats against publishers that have reported his alleged tires to
convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including The Wall Street Journal.
The US president claims The Times has become quote a
virtual mouthpiece for the radical left Democrat Party. The New
York Times has been allowed to freely lie, smear and
defame me for far too long, and that stops now,

has not yet commented on the lawsuit.

And Today's good News, a major opshop chain has presented
an entirely thrifted collection at New York Fashion Week. US
not for profit Goodwill collaborated with local designer Evan Hirsch
to shine a light on sustain nobility this fashion week.
The show, held on Monday, featured dozens of looks which
hersh sourced entirely from Goodwill stores around the US and

its online store. Organizers described the show as quote an
incredible collection of bold self expression, sustainable fashion, and the
beauty of secondhand fines. Outfits featured in the show will
be up for sale in an upcoming online charity auction.
