It's Tuesday, the fourth of November. Here's what's making headlines
this evening.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
The Reserve Bank of Australia has voted unanimously to leave
the cash rate unchanged at three point six percent. The
cash rate is what the RBA charges banks for short
term loans. It affects how much interest customers pay on loans,
which is why the figure is also referred to as
interest rates. Today's decision is the third time in a
row that the RBA has held rates and follows Australian

Bureau of Statistic STATA for the September quarter showing the
highest inflation figures in more than a year. Unemployment has
also risen since the last RBA meeting in October. Given
both increases, the RBA said the board had decided quote
it was appropriate to remain cautious in its decision making.

New South Wales police has arrested thirteen pro Palestinian protesters
at an expo in Sydney. The city is hosting the
Indo Pacific International Maritime Exhibition across the next three days,
with at least two Israeli defense contractors expected to attend.

the expo after calling for the event to be canceled.
The City of Sydney Council also passed a motion condemning
the exhibition at a recent meeting. Protesters clashed with police
this morning after officials set a group of fifty to
one hundred people marched towards police and quote attempted to

Dunstan confirmed two officers were injured. Police labeled the behavior

ceremony at Parliament House last night, Queensland University of Technology
Distinguished Professor Lydia Morowska was awarded the top honor for
her research into air quality, including the impacts of pollution
and airborne disease transmission. In twenty twenty, she led a

group of two hundred and forty scientists who proved that
COVID nineteen was mainly transmitted through the air. The finding
transformed infection control strategies. Morowska said the motivation behind her
work is to quote improve health, improve life and improve
well being of society. A new prize for Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander Knowledge Systems was also introduced this year.

It was awarded to Professor Michael Weir, who founded Title Moon,
Australia's first Indigenous owned and led sea cucumber fishery and
Marine Restoration Enterprise. Officials said Title Moon plays quote a
leading role in environmental observation and seagrass restoration.
