Jesus goes deeper than the surface level when encountering the woman at the well, choosing to address her shame rather than accepting a superficial conversion. Instead of closing the evangelistic deal when she asks for living water, Christ intentionally confronts her relationship history to demonstrate He wants all of her—not just a prayer or emotional response.

• Jesus wants the real you, not the "fine" version we present at church
• Christ already knows our deepest secrets and sins—nothing surprises Him
• Fighting spiritual battles in darkness always leads to defeat
• Confession brings healing when shared with trusted believers
• For Christians, confession isn't to gain forgiveness but to walk in freedom already purchased
• Daily confession and repentance help us experience the full freedom Christ secured

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to the Daily Blade.
The Word of God is described asthe sword of the Spirit, the
primary spiritual weapon in theChristian's armor against the
forces of evil.
Your hosts are Joby Martin andKyle Thompson, and they stand
ready to equip men for the fight.
Let's sharpen up.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
All right, welcome back, day three of our deep dive
into Jesus' encounter with thewoman at the well Now yesterday,
where we left off, jesus hasjust said everybody that comes
to this well, whoever drinks ofthis water, then you will be
thirsty again and again andagain and you have to keep
coming back.
But I have a supernatural water, I have a living water, and if

(00:42):
you drink from this water thenyou will have a spring of water
welling up to eternal life.
And then the woman says sir, give me this water so that I
will not be thirsty or have tocome here to draw water.
Now, if I were to step in inthis moment and coach Jesus up
on his evangelistic practices, then I would tell Jesus all

(01:05):
right, buddy, you got him.
All you got to do is close thedeal right now.
Don't talk about anything else, don't talk about her past and
don't talk about her currentsituation and don't talk about
her lifestyle.
All you got to do in thismoment is get her to admit it
she's a sinner, to believe inyou and to confess you as Lord.
And it's over man, you know.
Check the box, pray the prayer, raise your hand, you're good to

(01:26):
go.
And that's not what Jesus does.
Jesus goes for the jugular.
I mean, from an evangelismstandpoint, she is set up
perfectly to receive Christ inthis moment.
But what Jesus wants is Jesuswants all of her, not just some
kind of prayer, not just somekind of emotional response.

(01:46):
Jesus just doesn't want her tofeel seen in the moment.
Jesus wants her whole entirelife, the good, the bad and
especially the ugly.
So he digs in to the deepest, darkest, most shameful place in
her life.
Verse 16,.
After this woman asks for thisliving water, jesus said to her

(02:09):
go call your husband and comehere.
And the woman answered him Ihave no husband.
And Jesus said to her you areright in saying you have no
husband, for you have had fivehusbands and the one you now
have is not your husband.
What you have said is true.
And the woman said to him sir,I perceive that you're a prophet

(02:30):
.
Yeah, he's more than a prophet.
He knows everything about you.
You see, here's the thing man,the fake you's doing just fine.
And church is the worst placein the world for the fake person
.
I mean, so many people get abad case of the finitis the
moment you come to church, evenif you don't go to a dress-up
church like 1122 is not adress-up church at all.

(02:51):
You still put on your best, youclean up and you brush your
teeth and you smile big.
And then the amount of peoplethat come walking into church
and the ushers say how you doingand you answer with fine, but
you ain't really fine, jesuswon't put up with it.
You see, jesus wants the realyou, because the real Jesus down

(03:11):
on the real cross for the realyou, so you can leave the fake
you at home.
And the reality is is that Jesusalready knows.
He already knows the dirt, healready knows the sin, he
already knows the shamefulthings in your past and it will
do no good hiding them.
In fact, if you fight the devilin the dark, you're always
going to get your butt kicked.
The Bible calls us to confessand to repent.

(03:34):
You see, if you really want tobe free, if you really want to
learn to live in freedom, thenyou better learn to be honest.
Be honest with, first andforemost, the Lord, and also you
need some brothers and sistersin your life that can pray for
you, that that you can be honestwith.
In fact, james, the brother ofjesus, says that we are to
confess our sins to one anotherand that we are to pray for one

(03:57):
another that we may be healed.
You see, jesus is never goingto be caught off guard.
Jesus knew exactly what he wasgetting when he died on the
cross.
For you, when Jesus Christpushed up on his nail, pierced
feet and he says it is finished,it is for every sin, it is for
every broken promise, it is foranything that you have done,

(04:17):
especially the things that youwant to hide from him.
So I dare you to make it a dailyhabit that you confess and
repent, that you go deep, darkinto the past, the things that
you thought you could hide awayin that spiritual closet, and
you dig them up and you confessand you bring them to Jesus.
And the good news about theChristian post-resurrection

(04:40):
confession is you don't have togo into a little booth with
another person, but Jesus is ourhigh priest and he is our
mediator to God, the Father.
And when we, as believers, confess our sin, we're not
confessing so that we will beforgiven.
We are confessing that we aresinners but our sin has already

(05:03):
been paid for by the blood ofJesus and we are confessing that
as a method to cleanse us sothat we can walk in the freedom
that Christ has alreadypurchased for us.
So, man, I dare you, in yourprayer time, in your time with
your band of brothers, yourfoxhole brothers, confess and
repent, because Jesus reallyloves the real you.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Amen.
