Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to the Daily
Blade.
The Word of God is described asthe sword of the Spirit, the
primary spiritual weapon in theChristian's armor against the
forces of evil.
Your hosts are Joby Martin andKyle Thompson, and they stand
ready to equip men for the fight.
Let's sharpen up.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
All right day five.
On a deep dive in John, chapterfour, here's what I want you to
see.
I want you to see the realityof this the moment that we are
rescued by Jesus, we become apart of the rescue team, and one
of the things that I've noticedover and over and over in my
long time in ministry like maybe32 or three years of full-time
ministry is the people that havejust gotten saved are always
(00:44):
the most excited about sharingthe good news of the gospel and
sharing their own life changewith those around them, and this
is true also with the woman atthe well.
We'll pick it up in verse 27.
It says just then the disciplescame back, remember.
They were in town and theymarveled that Jesus was talking
with a woman, but no one saidwhat do you seek or why are you
(01:04):
talking with her?
So the woman left her water jarand went away into town and
said to the people come and seea man who told me all that I
ever did.
Can this be the Christ?
They went out of the town andthey were coming to him.
You see, one of the things thatthis reminds me of is when this
(01:25):
woman and everybody knew of herreputation says that she may
have encountered the Christ.
I need you to know that God isin the business of taking our
biggest messes and using themfor the message of the good news
of the gospel of Jesus Christ, that God can use even our own
self-inflicted pain as one ofthe biggest platforms for us to
(01:47):
shout from the hilltops thatJesus Christ saves, and if he
can save a sinner like me, thenhe can save a sinner like you
too.
Verse 31,.
Meanwhile, the disciples wereurging Jesus, saying Rabbi, eat.
But Jesus said to them I havefood to eat that you do not know
about.
So the disciples said to oneanother has anyone brought him
something to eat?
And Jesus said to them I havefood to eat that you do not know
about.
So the disciples said to oneanother has anyone brought him
something to eat?
And Jesus said to them my foodis to do the will of him who
(02:11):
sent me and to accomplish thiswork.
This is the explanation of whyJesus said he had to go to
Samaria, because this was thework that the father had given
to him.
Verse 35, do you not say thereyet four months?
Then comes the harvest.
Look, I tell you, lift up youreyes and see that the fields are
white for harvest.
That means that there has beena lot of work done out there and
(02:33):
there are a lot of people thatare ready to come to Christ for
salvation.
We just need the workers.
Verse 36,.
Already the one who reaps isreceiving wages and gathering
fruit for eternal life, so thatsower and reaper may rejoice
together.
For here the saying holds trueone sows and another reaps.
I sent you to reap that forwhich you did not labor.
(02:54):
Others have labored and youhave entered into their labor.
Many Samaritans from that townbelieved in him because of the
woman's testimony.
He told me all that I ever did.
So when the Samaritans came tohim, they asked him to stay with
them and he stayed there twodays.
And many more believed becauseof his word.
(03:16):
They said to the woman it is nolonger because of what you said
that we believe, for we haveheard for ourselves and we know
that this is indeed the Saviorof the world.
This is the first evangelist inthe New Testament that this
unlikely character, this sinfulwoman who has been redeemed by
(03:37):
Christ, is the first one to runinto town.
She doesn't have a theologicaldissertation ready, but what she
does is she shares what hasjust happened to her.
Listen, man changed.
People share the good news ofthe gospel.
People who have been run overby the grace train.
Everything changes in theirlife and when people say what is
different about you, they arewilling to share.
We, as followers of Jesus, havebeen commanded and called to
(04:02):
share our faith.
I mean the Great Commissionsays therefore, go and make
disciples of every nation, everytribe, every tongue, every
nation, baptizing them in thename of the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit.
Around here at 1122,.
We ask every single one of ourfolks that are followers of
Jesus to identify one moreperson, just one person in their
(04:25):
life that God has placed intheir life that you see as a
divine appointment, like Jesushad with this woman at the well,
and I want to encourage you tostart praying for that one
person over and over and overand over.
I have a verse.
I have a bunch of versestattooed on me, but one of them
is Acts 11, 24.
It says and he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and
faith, and a great number ofpeople were brought to the Lord,
(04:46):
and a great number in thescriptures is just one more.
So who is that one more personthat you can identify and you
can start praying for?
And I dare you to ask God foropportunities to share your
faith and what that means.
(05:07):
If you ask God for opportunitiesto share your faith with your
one more, that's a prayer hewants to answer, and so you need
to look for opportunities toshare the gospel.
Sometimes you share the wholegospel.
You're your own little BillyGraham.
You share that we are createdby God, that sin fractured, that
that Jesus came to pay our sindebt and whoever believes in
Christ receives the right tobecome a child of God.
Or maybe, maybe you don't havethe opportunity to do that, or
you tried and it didn't go good.
You could share an invitation tochurch.
Just say hey and not anon-invitation.
(05:29):
Not, you should come to churchwith me sometime, but this
Sunday let's meet at 1030.
We'll meet at the 1122 serviceand I'll take you to lunch
afterwards.
Whatever it is, you could sharean invitation to church.
You could share a link to asermon with a salvation
invitation at the end.
I have plenty of those you couldshare one of mine or anybody
else's, or, like this woman, sometimes you just share your
story, like people may ask youtheological questions and a
(05:51):
wonderful answer.
If you don't know, the answeris I don't know, I'll go find
out, but I don't know the answerto that.
But what I do know is that Iused to be lost and now I am
found.
Sometimes this is a big one.
You share a burden.
What if you were known as theprayer person in your office or
on your team?
And then sometimes, when thefolks aren't ready, you just
share another cup of coffeebecause you love this person.
(06:14):
And they're not a project, theyare a person loved by Christ.
So this woman's life is changedby Jesus.
She is run over by the gracetrain and it changes everything,
about everything and abouteverything.
And the first thing that shedoes is she goes and tells,
shares her faith that Christsaved her Men.
May we do the same thing, amen.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
