Speaker 2 (00:46):
We'll tell you where you can find him his shows
following us after this hit right here. Nobody brings the juice.
Nobody brings the electricity like Colby. Hello, Coby, Hey.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
I just want to give a quick shot out to
my best friend, Michael ce Powers.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
I know he's there. I know he's there. Love that guy.
You can't give me enough enough.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
God out, Wow, what went on in Chicago Now? I'm
wondering a little.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Bit of that, a lot of that, actually, I will
tell you this much. So we go out on Friday
night after the show, and it was tremendous, What a day,
what a night. Small's myself, Colby Powers, and we went
out to this awesome little brewery slash pizza place and
it's like little village outside the convention Center, and it

(01:37):
was funny because every single time Powers would talk, he
would weave in some celebrity or somebody that he's come
across that he's worth Powers if we know, and like
it was funny because he wasn't forcing it, but he
was being just Powers, right. And I mean, dude, like
after the third or fourth fort Todd Frazier.

Speaker 6 (01:57):
You know that Kolbe. What was the biggest celebrity I got,
you know the hits?

Speaker 5 (02:02):
Jesus Christ was my brother in law.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Anyways, with the.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Shawn's credit he was if you were somebody at another table,
You're like, this guy is definitely doing this on purpose
or it's a bit like he doesn't know these people.
But it would be like, yeah, he goes you know,
I went to like this this Fillings game and like
Alex Rodriguez shook.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
My hand in her cal Rican Jr.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Smooched me on them out think of think.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Of anybody you've ever wanted to meet. And he's like, yeah,
I got it. I got him in my phone, like.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Brandon Graham, Frasier, all the hits, and you know, for
for Colby and and Small is the first time meeting Powers.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
By the end of the night, we start going dude,
Michael see and it's just hysterical throughout the course of night.
You had to be there. But it was a great time.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Of course Kolby was represented with us out there at
the National right there in Chicago on the outskirts. But
what a great time it was. And oh yeah, nice
worked by you on that one with the bibblehead.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Who is that is that Swarber?

Speaker 5 (03:12):
It's the guy we interviewed.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Come on, wow, come on the other guy from American Pove. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I was back in studios. Sam was on the board. Colby,
Sam was on the board. He was running this nonsense
back here.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
All right. So with that being said, let's go ahead
and talk some business here.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
And I do want to open up with some baseball
conversation with you, Colby, because look, that's how we came across,
that's how we cross paths. That's how Colby continues to
kill it on the timeline. But he is a college
football guy, and we're gonna be talking about of ball
over these next week slash months. But as far as
the Phillies and the Mets are concerned right now tonight,
Taiwan Walker, monster dog, you're looking at the Mets at

(03:53):
minus one sixty one. I think this is a lock
that the Mets are going to sweep the Phillies. Are
you on that boat you see this one playing out tonight,
and you are a guy that goes to the fact
that your take is the Phillies struggled with runs outside
of Citizens Bank Park.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Is that what we're seeing right now in your opinion?

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Oh, Sean, I went all the way to the depths
of the earth to get these stats for you, and
by that I mean they were on the surface.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
The Phillies simply suck on the road, suck.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
And if you go and look, you could also say
half of the quote unquote good teams in the MLB
suck on the road, but they just simply can't get
it done.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
I have the numbers in front of me.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
The Phillies at home in the first five average almost
three runs overall five point three runs per game. On
the road just barely over two runs in the first five,
four point two runs overall on the road this season
tenth worst and WRC plus wOBA and OPS eleventh, worthst
and ISO last four weeks.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
These steps are basically the same.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
The bullpen struggles as well on the road hard can't
haunt a hard contact allowed, but second best walk rates,
so you guys aren't walking any guys, So that is good.
But I think the offense is the biggest concern on
the road because I don't know what it is. Maybe
they're just coasting to get in the postseason and then
surprise all of us. But if I'm a Philly fan,
which I'm not, I thank god I happen to be

(05:19):
a fan of a team that's scorching hot and is
also kind of in the same boat Yanks. I don't
believe in them either, So this isn't me bragging. But
if I'm a Philly fan, I'm terrified because you gotta
win on the road, and you gotta put up runs
on the road, and if you're just banking on the
rotation to hold you down on the road, I don't
think you're gonna do anything.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, So, like you've brought up with the Yankees, this
is a spot that I think the Mets are or
the Phillies are struggling, no doubt. But I'm not going
to sit here and say that this is going to
carry over throughout the course of September.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
So you would push back on that though, Colby.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Yeah, I'm a firm believer of what don't panic in August,
you can panic in September because you don't want it.
Like the Brewers, great example, Bruce, I don't want to
be a Brewers fan in August when they're the hottest
team of all time. While people in Chicago where I'm
from are just panicking with the Cubs. What I'm like,
panic in September. You want them to heat up in
September as well. You don't want to be hot in August.
You want to be hot September going in October, because

(06:18):
it's just the way baseball is. If you're hot at
the right time, you can beat anybody at any time.
So if I'm the Philly fan, I'm hoping September is
the best month on the road that we've ever or
they've ever had.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
I almost called them we almost.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
We'll get you there.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Actually, Kobe Marsha joining us right here on the Gambler
stream having some fun. Yet tywe Walker plus one thirty four.
He's been pitching better, But I think this is baked
into the number right here. The fact that the Mets
are minus one sixty four favorites with the newest pitcher here,
and Noel McLean has pitched well fifteen total strikeouts in
the two outings he's had, but still somewhat unknown. And

(06:51):
as I said, Walker has been pitching better as of
late for the or this season for the Phillies. I
was surprised at that number, So I think it's telling
you all you need to know.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Mets are going to win and sweep the Phillies, are
you not.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Should Phillies fans be concerned about the division? This will
knock it down to five games? I believe, right five?

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Seven to six?

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Five, yeah, five games, or will bring it down to four.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
It's five right now, it's five right now.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
If they do win tonight, this will knock down the
NL East lead to four games.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Should Phillies fans be concerned?

Speaker 4 (07:26):
I don't know necessarily, because I feel kind of the
same way with the Mets. I think they're very inconsistent.
When they're hot, they're one of the most dangerous teams
in baseball. But when they're not, it's just like they're
just they're not good. They're simply they're just not a
great team when they're not gelling, and they seem to
be fine at the moment. So I don't think if
they get a win tonight, I don't think four is

(07:46):
a panic button type deal. You still got time. There's
a lot of time, even though it doesn't feel like it.
You got a ton of time.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
All right, Yeah, Sam checking in, he says JT with
the golden sombrero.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Last night, it was just ugly across the board, very
very ugly, and a.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Very unfortunate game that they ended up losing. Bader gives
you that home run, You're thinking, Wow, they're gonna steal
this one because it hasn't been you know, like we've
seen it happen this year with the with the Phillies,
they've won a bunch of games in the ninth inning
late in the game, and I'm thinking this would be
the ultimate win to do that there. And then of
course it goes the other way, So we'll see what

(08:21):
happens again. McLain on the mounta for the Mats minus
one season four, eight and a half is our total.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
First pitch seven to ten PM.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Staying in the world of baseball because they want to
get over to the grid iron with you. Let's talk
about the al MVP, the Big Dumper, fifty fifty bomb
fifty spot right now.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
But man, I'll tell you.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
What and looking at DraftKings sportsbook right now, Colby and Sam,
I'll bring you in for this conversation. Of course, as well,
the fact that you can get cal Rawley at plus money,
I think you got to jump at that at plus
one oh five. However, then you dig a little bit
deeper into the numbers and Judge's average is just reds
compared to Raleigh.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Raleigh is a.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
One track man, and what I mean by that is
fifty bombs. That's the big damn deal for him. But
he is doing it representing the catching spot, and of
course is a switch hitter, so there's a lot of history
on his side as well.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Colby.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
But as far as the al MVP right now, Judge
minus one thirty five cal Raley plus one oh five
is the wrong person favored right here.

Speaker 5 (09:24):
No, No, I am on.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
I'm very anti cal Raley al MVP, very anti and
I've yet to be proven wrong on anything that I've
said this week.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Very passionately. This is a very passionate conversation.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
It's Judge, why are we even having this conversation just
because a guy hits home runs.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
That's all he does.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Oh, but he plays a really physically pulling possession that catcher. Yes,
he's batting under two fifty. Go look at any other
catcher that's ever won this award. They did not bat
two fifty. They batted well above that. And simply, if
that is all cal Raley has and he wins this
award because he has the most home runs ever by
a catcher in a season, I think it'll be a

(10:06):
disgrace to this award because if you go look at
Judge's numbers, sure he hasn't been the greatest.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
Since he came back from his injury.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
He's got an eighty three points higher on base percentage
than cal Raley, almost one hundred spots better in the ops,
and the batting average leads before he was injured let
in almost every category but home runs.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
Who are we kidding ourselves?

Speaker 4 (10:27):
We were talking about the Yankees being potentially or potentially
not making the postseason when Judge was out because they
looked like crap.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
He is the gel.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
He is the heartbeat of the Yankees, regardless of what
he's doing on the field. He is the reason they
are performing well this season. I cannot understand no one
has thrown me a stat outside of war in home
run on why cal Rally should win this award. War
doesn't mean anything to me. When a guy strikes out,

(10:56):
oh my god, let's let's get to that. He has
more strikeouts than July first, then hits. He is striking
out at almost a forty percent clip since July first.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
Forty percent of his hits since July first are home runs.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Forty percent of his hits, so forty percent of the
time he's striking out, forty percent of his hits are
home runs. He's a one trick pony.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
And if you want to say it, well, Aaron Judge,
how's the better fact? How's the betterfit of the sharp
porch over.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
There in the Bronx, shut you unriginal, goofball?

Speaker 5 (11:28):
You are unoriginal. Aaron Judge has great numbers on the road,
more home runs on the road this season.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Meanwhile, if we want to get down to the nitty gritty,
cal Riley pulls every ball he hits, every home run
he pulled.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Go look at the dimensions of Team Mobile. They're not
that sexy.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Also, shortest home run in MLB histories and Fenway, we
never talk about that. Either, but I digress about my
favorite baseball team. Also, zero bias baked into any of this.
I have stated nothing but stats, zero bias.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
It's Judge. The conversation is over with.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
All right, So Kyle Fisher checking in, love the juice,
love the electricity, Colby War War doesn't mean anything. Judge
is leading to majors in it, so that's meaningless.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
Everything else matters more.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I also on the flip side, do you think that
it comes down to the voters. Do you think that
there is a chance that the voters will have Judge
fatigue that.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
He's won of two times out of the last what
three four years?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
I don't think so either, because then we'll be saying
that about show hey, and we'd be talking about a
very similar player. No offense to your guys, Kyle Schwarber
is basically the cal rally of the very similar players.
Doesn't play Cutcher though, but I would argue or Kyle Schouberck,
they're very similar names in my head right now. Kyle
Schuber's had a better season in years past. This is

(12:48):
a very good season for him, I'm trying to say.
But also favor of Aaron Judge maybe this is just
East Coast bias on the voters.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
You think they're staying up to watch Seattle game.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Ooh, that's a good call.

Speaker 5 (13:01):
So I spoke to Keith Law. He said he thinks
it's judge.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Oh look at you. We're dropping the knowledge off. Keith
Law says it. Then we you know, Keith.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Keith Law dunked on me saying he has the maritors
coming out of the al So like, I'll give it,
I'll give it.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Take Keith Laws said, Keith Law. Wow, this is a
throwback Keith Law previous radio station. I worked that he
got into it with the host. Everybody did back in
those days, behind the scenes because he wrote an article
how Ryan Howard that contract that he got was a
huge mistake. Guess who was right after was all said

(13:35):
and done. I think Keith Law was damn yeah. And
I would have given given Ryan Howard that contract to
as well. So sorry, Rube, you all right, sorry, sorry
Colby awesome stuff. So right now, judges to play minus
one thirty five. And you know, look we got him
still a full month ago. Do you think that cal
Raley can do anything more over these next five weeks

(13:59):
that could pretend to land him the front runner, or
do you think this is going to be Judge putting
a bias to side. The voters are going to see
all of the numbers, everything you just laid out, and
Judge is the winner.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
I think I think it's very tough to give it
to Cal. Like, there's sixty sixty home runs, sixty.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
Sixty you think he's gonna get ten in a month.
I think Kyle makes a great point. He is an
awesome defender, do not get me wrong. And also to
the people thinking I'm just throwing shade at Cal, we
can also take a quick step back and appreciate what
he has done this Ye. Absolutely, it is a remarkable season. Yes,
this isn't an Offensive Player of the Year award. This

(14:39):
is the MVP.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Who are we fooling.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Ourselves on the better offensive season? People on Twitter will
argue with me, saying, well, it's a down year. If
it's a down year, give it to the obvious guy.
He's in New York. And just because also as a
Yankee fan, I'm aware that that is the most hated
team in all of sports. I know that I understand
that I'm not a fool, But if you're just on
him simply because he plays for the eighties. You're the

(15:02):
fool because if you can't appreciate greatness, you don't like sports.
But also, hating people is the beauty of sports. I'm
talking to you, Tom Brady.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
I like you told you you never know where we're
gonna go. Sam, I love it.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Wait, you could see these comments. I didn't even put
that up there. You could see that you off the side.

Speaker 5 (15:22):
But if I hit comments, I can see anything.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Oh I didn't know that. How about that? All right? Yeah,
Kyle Fisher back again.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Only arument for Cayle rally is that he might be
is that he might is the best defender in the
AL at the toughest position, while also.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
Leading the league in both home runs and RBI all right.

Speaker 5 (15:39):
Thirty six percent strikeout percentage, the.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
League average, people leaving average twenty three percent, judges of
twenty six.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
I have been on. I've been consistent.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
I just think when it comes to these sort of deals,
you have to put yourself in the mind of the voter.
And I don't think they're digging too deep into the
you know, the the op NB rs y.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
You know.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
I just I think they're looking at home runs team success,
more buzz that sort of deal. And if your Paul
schemes who dat who he dates. Other than that, I think.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
The voters are going to keep it very surface level.
Judge will problems the voting system for in the MLB.

Speaker 6 (16:14):
Is it like the Heisman voting where there's millions of
people that have a vote, or is it more than
where it's like this out.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
When I was talking to Keith Flaw when I was doing.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
A show a couple of weeks ago that he is
set to do, I believe it was one of the
Rookie of the years, Like they get signed, I think it.

Speaker 5 (16:31):
I think that's what I recall. They get a signed
which award they.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Rotates every year.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
That's sick one. I think that's sick.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
That's sick. That is pretty cool, it says.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Most Vibebe player awards are voted on members of the
Baseball Writers Association of America that is the BBWAA for
keeping score at home.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Each league's BBWAA.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Members submit their ballots at the end of season, and
the votes are tallied to determine the winners. Now, how
many people are in the bbw A.

Speaker 6 (16:59):
A association, I don't know if everyone gets a vote
just because you're in that association.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
All right, Well, we'll see how it plays out. It
was a great conversation to get into right there.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
It's the most interesting conversation in baseball right now. And
I can't I can't wait to continually talk about it.

Speaker 5 (17:15):
And people are like, can't wait. Get out with another courisation.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
This is interesting stuff because clearly a lot of people
on social media think it's cal So I'm here for it.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
I'm here for any debate.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
If anyone wants to beate me at Colby m bets
on Twitter, I will talk to you, but I will
not reply to you if you reply with no stats.
If you don't reply with any stats or anything that
just seems like bias an opinion, I'm not gonna.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Reply to bring your stats and bring your status.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Lie numbers, never never lie. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
All right, Kolby Marcia joining us right here, and we're
gonna go ahead and make a transition our first time.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Well we did jab at it a little bit over
there to Chicago.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Uh, but we let's kick this in college football, baby,
we have a big one on Saturday, possibly the biggest
opener as far as the season is concerned from the
start to finishing with the card in Week one, no
doubt this is the best opening weekend college football has
ever put together. I can name five games that I
just cannot wait to watch or want to be belly up.

(18:13):
But unfortunately, being a dad with two kids, you do
get pulled from time to time.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Exactly, I'm ready to chomp right into it like it's
a risk.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
It's a good one.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
It's a really good sampler, THIRDD sampler, sampler.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Oh, this is this is, this is main course, this
is the best week one we've probably had in years.
Just belly up in a Capitol grill and we're going with,
you know, multiple steaks and the side, keep it coming,
keep it coming.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
The full at we know is, of course, Texas on
the road at Ohio State. Now I believe Colby is
joining you with the Texas. Uh, with the Texas.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Love for that game.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Two and a half points spread right now, one and half.
Excuse me, downwards, horns up? Why Colby? Why are you
on Texas on the road against our house state?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Doped up the season?

Speaker 5 (19:01):
I'll start off with my lazy handicap.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Would I rather trust arch Manning, who's played before or
saying I believe I would lean with arch Manning, who
hasn't had a full season under his belt.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
Out there, people are arguing.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
Well, if he's football god, shouldn't he have played over quittialers?
And I'm gonna be biased and overlooked that because I
like Texas in the spot. I think their offense is
fully loaded. I think this is a great spot for
arch Manning too. I don't know like here, I am
the type deal, but they've loaded running back for loaded

(19:33):
by receiver room. The offensive line is gonna be the
biggest concern. But if it was a big concern, wouldn't they.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
Go out and get more guys? Wouldn't they go out
Luden Sarkisian, go out and get more guys. I don't
think it's gonna be that problem. Sure, they lost four
guys that kept one starter on the line.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
Phil Steele has Texas putting up almost four hundred and
fifty yards per game thirty three points per game. The
defense replaced five defensive tackles with five guys with a
ton of experience. I think it's gonna be a great
defen I think it's going to be a much better
team than last year. Which I think we didn't find
out they were pretty not that great until the play playoffs,
which we find out with most of these teams by then,

(20:11):
and with Ohio State. Really, I've talked to some people
that went to Ohio State, played at Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
I don't think they have a lot of confidence. What's saying.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
And maybe I'm wrong, but I'm a little shade on
that guy. That face doesn't say winning quarterback to me,
just going off another lazy handicap.

Speaker 5 (20:28):
I love it against him. I have a face for radio.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
My mom told me so, and that face doesn't do
it for me. Well, I'm just gonna say no.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
And I don't think it's you know, you having fun
with it.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
I don't think it's a lazy handicap because we've never
seen these guys play right, like well we've seen arts play,
but like these teams play this year.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Both teams were definitely hit last year.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
To me, I think and I know this is a
lazy handicap because it comes down to where both teams
were hurt. The most offensive line for Texas, defensive line
for Ohio State. Who's going to be better with beef
up front?

Speaker 5 (20:59):
Right?

Speaker 2 (20:59):
That where it comes down to for me. I think
both quarterbacks are good. I think Arch is the real
damn deal. Don't know much about saying, but when you
were ready to go excuse me to Alabama to play
for Nick Saban, that kind of tells me a thing
or two about what your potential is. Goes to Ohio
State and oh, by the way, the two best players
on the field, whether it's offense or defense, are coming

(21:22):
from the Ohio State with Caleb Downs on defense and
of course Jeremiah Smith Yarra Maya Smith on offense.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
So I look at it from that perspective and I say,
you know what, all right, I get it. Art's gonna
make some plays.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
But Ohio State at home, I think they're the play.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
We need this.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
We need discourse, we need discourse. Yeah, look, I don't
disagree with you. I don't disagree with you, but just.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Home home field doesn't play at all into this.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Okay, Well then.

Speaker 5 (21:51):
Why, Like I said, the quarterback, I want the guy
with the experience.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
They gotta knows the offensive system and we're getting a
little bit of plus money to kick the season off.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Kobe Miles has been the coordinators.

Speaker 6 (22:01):
That's what I've been saying this whole time is that
the Ohio stated to replace two coordinators with their offensive
defensive coordinator, and that.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
That's two play holders right there.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
And Texas has continuity on their coaching stap Steve Starkeisen
still calling the plays. Both coordinators return, So that's the
whole thing with me when we're talking about a Week
one game. As the season goes on, that might not
matter as much. We talked about that in NFL all
the time, or when it's the Lions or the Eagles
a couple of seasons ago. When you lose both coordinators,
that's a pretty big loss. And I think that's going
to be important in this Week one matchup because Texas
just has the continuity. And when you're such even teams,

(22:31):
you gotta find some edge. And that's the edge that
I'm giving Texas.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
And they don't get a preseason, so this is just
them out there right as hell.

Speaker 5 (22:39):
So I'm with you there, all right.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Clemson lsu up the four now. Colby's fifty seven and
a half is our number in this one seven thirty PM.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
I think we were holding steady.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
At four, if I'm not mistaken, So I apologize if
we've got a little animated on that one, but Clemson
four point favorite, still a lot of points for LSU
to grab here, but tough to go on the road.
They have not been successful in season openers, however, Clemson
dabbo versus SEC competition not exactly the best either in
that category.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
So I'm kind of in the middle.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
I have talked myself into LSU being to play with
the points, trying to get there with the money line
of plus one fifty. However, I'm not here to r
you against anybody that wants to believe in Kate club Nick.
I think his season last year should be looked at
a little bit more positive manner than he's getting credit for.
And oh, by the way, this is a team that
likes to take shots down the field. This is another

(23:31):
game where I sit here and say, yeah, I believe
in my handicap, I believe in my vision, my thoughts,
all that. But we haven't seen these two teams play,
so flip a coin. I hate to say that, but
I'm gonna take LSU plus the points going on the
road and potentially coming away with that upset victory.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Where are you at with this game, sir?

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Same thing I think I've been on this four and
a half for a month now nice and I don'n't
see it being a blowout. If LSU loses. I think
it is by the field goals, so we're getting the points.
Then I don't want to take the money line just
because I want that cushion. I'm a soft guy. So
Number one, I love the Nusts Bus. I love the
nuts Bus more than I love Club Nick, which is

(24:11):
another reason why I'm on LSU. Also something that I
really like when a guy's chair is just Bernie.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
You think Brian Kelly's chair is on fire.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
Who's on the hottest seat in America right now? It's
Brian Kelly.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
Yeah, well he's fine.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
He's got DJ Lagway my Heisman Trophy winner. Wow, really,
I got two. I can get those later.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
Brian Kelly, I think is on a very very hot seat.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
And I'm not a dabo guy, the most anti dabo
guy of all time unless he has quote unquote Jesus Christ,
that quarterback Trevor Lawrence or quote unquote Michael Jordan.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
These are his quotes.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Deshaun Watson, I don't think he's the greatest coach of
all time. I think he's a little overrated and a
lot of people wanted to go go out and give
this man flowers because he got off his rear end
and went into the portal this offseason. Yeah, but people
forget very weak portal class. Also, LSU has the number
one portal class in America alongside a top ten signing class.

(25:15):
I think mister Kelly went off and got the better
guys that he possibly could, while sounds like Dabo got
the scraps. I'm a very firm believer in Nussmeier. I
think the offense is gonna be explosive. It has very
he gives Joe Burrow esque. He's a guy that slung
the pill with ease. The defense is always going to
be the concern, but I think it is going to

(25:36):
be a much better LSU defense that we've seen in
years past, where like hey automatic over on any LSU game,
the defense doesn't exist. I think it's gonna be a
serviceable defense that the LSU offense can succeed and put
some points on the board and get a good cushion
and possibly get a win in Death Valley, the fake
Death Valley, the real ones in Betton Rouge.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
How about that is the Sweet Boys?

Speaker 6 (25:55):
Because I got LSU too, okay, and I don't love it,
but like I like it because LSU's lost five straight openers.
Brian Kelly, to Kobe's point of him being on the
hot seat, part of is because he's never won an opener,
like if not now when at some point, Yeah, it's
a road game. But to Colby's point too, they also
have the number one transfer class. They lost a lot,
lost four starters on the offensive line. You replace a

(26:18):
lot of that through the portal. That's where they use
a lot of those portal resources on that offensive line.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
And I'm a huge Nustsmeyer guy too.

Speaker 6 (26:25):
His turnovers are kind of a problem and those losses
last year, But if he doesn't turn the ball over,
he's as good, probably better. He's a better arm than
Kate Clubnick. So I think Nussmeyer is just as good,
if not better than club Nick. And I think that
like the plus four. I don't think they went out right,
but to keep it within four within a field goal
even I like LSU to score enough to keep up

(26:45):
with Clemson. So it's not a strong play for me,
but I like LSU plus.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
The points all right, does did Dabbo give off Michael
Scott vibes like, I didn't see these quotes. I did
see the Trevor Lawrence Jesus Christ comparison.

Speaker 5 (26:59):
But he's called he's called Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Michael Jordan's Oh I don't remember that. That's incredible. Oh,
by the way, it was.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
During the draft.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
He's like, if anyone gets him, you're getting Michael Jordan.
And I was like, this guy doesn't shut up.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
Michael Jordan.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
We didn't learn a lot about him off the field,
off the court, but you know, teach their own keeping
it moving. I will just say this last time that
these two teams matched up was Joe Burrow in that
National championship game where they torched Clemson.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
I actually did have and that was the last time
that LSU won an opener that season.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
It's been that long, all.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Right, Well, what a marvelous year.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
That was a fun year that was.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
And then how about Jamar Chase ends up with him
up there in Cincinnati. It's crazy how that worked out.
We'll see plenty of time to time about the NFL
staying in college though. All right, we're kind of swaying.
We're back and forth on our place here is there
a play this weekend week one that you love Colby
that you're like, you know what, This isn't a weak handicap.
This isn't a lazy handicap. I love this team because

(27:55):
X where you at on that one.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
I am the biggest notre dame hater on the plants Go.
I can't stand when they are just ranked top fifteen
every year because of the name.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
But god dang it, I.

Speaker 6 (28:13):
Love them less love them. Why defense?

Speaker 4 (28:20):
I think it's a miss price. This is the same
team that went to the Natty. All they have to
do is replace the quarterback.

Speaker 6 (28:28):
That's a guy who's never played a college.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
I can live with that. I can live with that.
The defense is the same in all and we're going
up were name fighting Irish are going up against I
got Carson back, who is if you go check out
the completion percentage, it has dwindled every year.

Speaker 5 (28:48):
He has not improved. If he was so good, he'd
be in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Also, he got hurt, he got hurt, he got hurt,
he got hurt.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
I know.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
You're right, he's replacing the number one overall pick who
didn't really do much last year for Miami, and you
get a guy who's definitely not going to be the
number one overall pick. I would rather root for the
fighting Marcus Freeman's on the money line minus one thirty.

Speaker 5 (29:15):
I think it's a steal of a price.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
And that game is going off on Sunday at seven
thirty pm. It is a two and a half point spread.
The Irish are favored on the road in Miami. Big
spot for Mario Cristabau and of course Carson Beck as
this quarterback. There's a lot of question marks with that team,
but there is a lot of love for Notre Dame
and it's all based off of which it's hard to

(29:38):
argue that defense. It is for real, great run game
as well, big question mark at that quarterback position. I
am going to enjoy this game, but I am looking
at the U to potentially put up the love.

Speaker 5 (29:50):
What's the love?

Speaker 3 (29:52):
I nov, yeah, you're right, you're right.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
No, I would say that it's a little bit more
swayed to the fact that, look, what everybody is saying
about Notre Dame makes total sense, but we know that
it doesn't really play out like that half the time, right,
It's too easy most of the time it is, But
it's two and a half, so it could go either way.
I think it's gonna be a tough game for Miami
to win. Notre Dame should be favored here, but you

(30:19):
got to show it to me on Sunday night when
it's a standalone game, everybody's gonna be watched.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
For me, it's I think if you get I think
if you get to three points, I think Mammy's price
because I don't think there's gonna be a lot of points.

Speaker 6 (30:31):
Okay for me, the whole thing is like, we just
had the longest college football season in the history of
college football. Lassons Notre Dame was playing in that very
last game until the end. And this Notre Dame team
historically under Marcus Freeman the last few years, they've gotten
much better as the season went on.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
So I'm not a Miami guy at all. I don't
think they're could be the College FOTBA Playoff this year.

Speaker 6 (30:49):
I'm not a crystabal guy, but I think in this opener,
it's a good spot for Miami at home against a
Notre deam the Dame team that just played a national
title team that usually gets better as the year goes on.
At CJ. Carr playing his first collegiate game. Ever, I'm
going Miami. All right, let's go ahead real quick on
this one.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
Colby.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
I know you've got a show coming up here, and
I appreciate the extended visit here, but let's talk Thursday
tomorrow night. Is there a game on the card that
as you excited a or do you have a play
that you like Thursday night?

Speaker 5 (31:19):
I don't have anything tomorrow. The earliest game I have
is Auburn money line.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
All right. What I would say is East Carolina Nancy
State Man.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
The juices, the vibes there there, that's going to be
potential for some fireworks. Fourteen point spread, show me wolf back.
I will take the Pirates. Give me the Pirates, catching fourteen.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
On that one.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Anyways, to Friday, and that's a big one with Colorado.
They just named the quarterback from Liberty. He's the starting
quarterback from some of the things that I'm taking away
that again offseason, we're all guessing here, but Colorado catching
four at home against Georgia Tech. I have Georgia Tech
over seven and a half. I think Georgia Tech is
to play here. But when you remove the skill position

(31:56):
conversation and you start talking about of course beef upfront,
on the inside the interior. I was reading that Colorado
stepped their game up this offseason with the recruits, with
the transferf Whiro, finally getting better in that area, and
that's what they were missing last year.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
They had the.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Explosiveness with Travis Hunter. Of course Schador making plays left
and right, good run game, but now they're improving in
the areas that they need needed to be So I'm
wondering if it's all gonna come together in this spot
catching for nobody, nobody has Colorado. What's your take on
that game.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
I think it's gonna be really interesting just to watch
how Dion's coaching career plays out without his son, without
Travis Hunter. I think it's gonna be really interesting to
see what really Colorado is without the distractions of those
two that were there last year. It'll be very interesting.
I love for quarterback Caden Salter is an electrifying quarterback.

(32:49):
I think he's a great get for them. I hope
they hope they do well because I'm a Salter guy.
They also have just a pretty decent offense that I know.
They lost a ton of receivers, but they replaced the
replaced him with a ton of talent, great offensive line,
and the defense should be solid. I think they'll put
up a fight. I don't want to be on anything.
I just want to see it and watch a play out.

(33:10):
But I'll be rooting for the Colorado Boffs rooting for him.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
I'm taking Georgia Tech ramblin.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
As long as they stopped sending stuff to the Heisman others,
I'll be fine with rooting.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
I'm taking a ramble and remember us. I'll catch the
four on that one. Uh No, I don't remember that one.
Would they do they all because you're yeah, now it
came to me.

Speaker 5 (33:29):
That drove me nuts.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
It worked.

Speaker 5 (33:32):
I don't think they needed to do that, even though
the gent guy.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
Yeah, he was pretty good, all right.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
Final one for me, you would see Bill Belichick, which
I think I got ball sacked earlier. I thought I
read that you did.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
I did I got sacked. Yes.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
I thought he ended up getting home girl pregnant. I
thought they were having a kid asking me about talking George,
and I was like.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
Sean gets ball sick more than anybody.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
That's not fair. That's not fair.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
I'm I'm normally, my intuition is good on the sack.
Normally I'm better, but this was one that jumped on
my timeline earlier.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
I put two and two together.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
I said, you know what, Belichick, right, there's no issues
there if they want to create a family, God blessed.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
How do you know there's no issues there? You're right
there are, but you win.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
See just they name their starting quarterback and that is
a standalone game on Monday, U n C TCU Colby Marshio,
are you playing anything in this one right now? I
believe you n C. I had the spread man DK
changed some stuff up. Now I'm struggling here. I'm the

(34:38):
next week. I got next week's game. You gotta spread
on that one.

Speaker 6 (34:41):
Sam, Yeah, I believe it was four last time I saw,
but I got.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
It's not a top twenty five game, is it?

Speaker 4 (34:47):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (34:47):
It's not. That's why I'm missing it right now.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
What's the total?

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Un C is in the damn ACC three and a half?
North Carolina's plus three and a half?

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Fifty six and a half is our total in that one?
That game kicks at APM on Monday, standalone game where
he at Colby.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
Kind of thinking, under right, I mean Bill Belichick defense,
that should be the highlight of the whole team, because
we know Bill knows dep and they lost seven starter, sure,
but they got a solid back seven. They bringing a
ton of talent on defense. They have a really good
offensive line.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
I know that.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
But who's Geo Lopez?

Speaker 4 (35:24):
Sure, he played at Southern Alabama last year put up
over two hundred thousand yards twenty to two thousand yards games.
I don't know anything about the kid. I was doing
minimum research on on my saw he throw the pill,
I guess, but I think the ACC is going to
be a lot tougher for him because South Alabama doesn't
play anybody unless it's the first couple of weeks. So

(35:44):
I kind of lean with the under, knowing just how
Bill is with defenses. So I'm gonna look into it more.
Maybe I'll bet the under. Maybe it won't.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Yeah, and TCU's got the better quarterback, that's for sure.
With Hoover in there and his furry love affair, well,
I don't know if that's true or not either, but
that's on the timeline, so we'll see.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
I didn't get sacked on that one. That was not me.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
I didn't think it was real, but you never know
this day and age, it's just wild.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
It's just absolutely wild. That's happening. Colby, You are.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
The best, great stuff as always, And once again you
can find Kolby on all things socials at Colby m
of Bets and he's got his own show coming up
here at at I get the times confused. So it's
four o'clock his time, five o'clock our time. He's joining
Shaggy bets in the great Kate Constable. How about that
nice work by you there, So that's coming up. What

(36:31):
are you guys getting into?

Speaker 4 (36:33):
Oh everything we just talked about more. Yeah, Nate's got
Nate's got a soccer to the discuss.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Is Nate shaggy?

Speaker 5 (36:40):
Yeah, Nate shaggy?

Speaker 4 (36:41):
And uh, you know I added Alabama to win the
Natty and Ty Simpson to win Heisman last night. They correlate,
they correlate, and I'm I'm selling myself. When you guys
mentioned what's my favorite bet of the week, I forgot
about Alabama. I think they blow the doors off of FSHU.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
That's on my card.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
And like what we mentioned, New OC, New DC, get
the kicks out first and let Alabama roll pass hip.
And I think the most interesting thing about the Alabama
team is one I'm a sucker for a year or
two coach, especially Debor, who's a great coach. Oh yeah,
and this team, I think the defense only lost three
guys to the draft. When was the last time we

(37:22):
were able to say Alabama only lost.

Speaker 5 (37:25):
A couple guys to the draft? I don't know. I
probably wasn't a lot.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
And I just think Simpson is just given a platter
of an awesome offense that he could just have so
much success with. Maybe he's raw out the gate and
he improves as the weeks go by, but I think
they come out hocked.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
I'm all over the Tide train this week and on
the season. I love that.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
Old Corls. I feel like you want them to live
in Nattie.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
You gotta take kid definitely, Yeah, you're right, does correlate?

Speaker 3 (37:56):
I'm with you there.

Speaker 6 (37:57):
But the defensive line's gonna be really good and lit
on the football with that line too, with all those
returners Colby just mentioned. But still like, you gotta have
good quarterback playing SEC. And people are saying ty Sampson
is gonna be really good. I want to see I
want to see Norvel. I want to see Norvel turning around.
It was a bad year last year. I mean, he's
gonna have a better than two wins season. He's going

(38:17):
to beat Alabama in week one.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Well, keep it, keep it close, two touchdowns, I don't
think so.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
Alaban was one of my plays this weekend. All right,
we'll see who's uh, who's celebrating Colby. You're the best.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
You can find all of his shows over at your
betting news, your betting news, Colby m Betts, great stuff, Kobe,
hey man, have a great Labor Day weekend, Sarah, good
luck and all those plays, and of course, uh we'll
be talking all things a L MVP and l MVP, Phils, Mets, Yanks, playoff,
Baseball and.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
More over the next few weeks. You're the best, dude.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
Appreciate a couple minuts, you guys, well, thank you, Coby,
a couple of minutes meaning forty minutes. Yeah, appreciate forty minutes, dude,
you're the best.

Speaker 5 (38:56):
I would have given you three out.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
I love that.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
Man.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
There is Colby Marcia on the Gambler stream. Fantastic job
job by Kolby on that one. All right, lay for
a break, of course, going forty five total minutes there.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
But a lot to chew on. So you like Bama.
I love Bama double digit spread, You're not scared of it? Nope.

Speaker 6 (39:16):
I like this is a complete rebuild for Florida State.
They only have two returning offensive starters and one of
their new guys is Tommy Costianos for the BC transfer.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
It's correct. I don't necessarily love him.

Speaker 6 (39:27):
This is like a rebuilding Florida State team against an
Alabama team that Coleby just mentioned returned a ton of guys,
Like this is a rare Alabama group where they got
a ton of guys back, especially on the offensive line,
defensive line.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
You gotta win the trenches.

Speaker 6 (39:38):
Those guys are just gonna overpower Florida State in the trenches.
And doesn't really matter what Ty Simpson does is week
in week one, I don't Carrot's on the road. I
think Alabama wins by at least two touchdowns. It's one
of my favorite players of the weekend.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
Yeah, but you know Nick Saban, what about Callen the
Boor is not Nick Saban?

Speaker 6 (39:54):
You that was two years ago. We're not We're not
doing the Nick Saban thing again.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
What you knew what you were getting with Nick Saban
in Alabama. Do you know what you're getting right now
with Calendar bor? No.

Speaker 6 (40:04):
But I think he's a good, really good coach, and
I think it's a really good roster. So I don't
really care that he's still following an all time great predecessor.
I mean, it's a huge year for him. He's got
to be in the playoffs or else. He's firmly on
the hot seat, firmless.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
It's the truth.

Speaker 6 (40:18):
But I trust this Alabama team, especially in week one,
like this Foresty team isn't gonna.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
Be as bad as last year.

Speaker 6 (40:24):
They're not good though, They're not a good football team,
especially con bear to Alabama.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
All Right, plenty more to discuss.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Got to take a quick time out more daily ticket
with Sam Oxten myself.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
Back up to this.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
We don't just watch college football, we live it.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
How did he stand?

Speaker 5 (40:38):
Balance there?

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Look at him gold stand Join us for the stories,
the scores and the Saturday match. Yep, it's the Gambler.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
