Speaker 1 (00:00):
Number one on your car radio preset hand the new

D Philadelphia is Fox Sports Radio, the Gambling Football Bat
(00:36):
and Our Lives. Yes, college football front and center all
weekend long for the Gambler Gang. Of course, we're live
on Saturday, myself Beef Coil talking all five matchups. Give
you a preview. Now moving forward towards the course of
the season, will be live every Saturday night, every Saturday
night starting in September. Hey now, yes, Beef and I
(01:01):
will be going live Saturday nights from the studio here
and we're gonna be talking a lot of college football,
taking calls of course, live action, previewing some of the
games that will be kicking off a little bit later
in the evening, hopefully finding some winners as we're all chasing.
And then you know, look, with the day's games, there's
(01:21):
so much to chew on, so much to get into,
and at that point in time, it's a lot of
fresh opinions. So really excited about that big time game.
Of course, on Saturday, I'm talking about Texas and Ahaz
excuse me, Ohio State was a three point spread, still
looking like about a point and a half at this
(01:42):
point in time. There was a little bit of movement
over the last what three four days, I want to say,
back forth back forth, So I bump up to two
and a half, back down to a point and a half.
But I haven't seen three. So I'm curious if that's
going to happen when this thing kicks off on Saturday
at noon. For my money, I don't think so. I
(02:05):
think Texas is a big play in a lot of
people's minds, and I understand. Look, if you missed the
open of the show, I was talking about Kansas State
and Iowa State. Big difference between those two programs, and
of course Ohio State and Texas. But for the most part,
if we're going to sit here and pretend like we
know what these teams are due to reading from the
(02:28):
magazines and watching the transfer portals, there's a lot of
change no matter who your coaches, the program that they're running,
whatever it may be. Texas was decimated by the draft.
Of course Ohio State a lot of great players moved
on as well, brand new starting quarterback. I mean, you
can make the case that Arch is a brand new
(02:49):
start starting quarterback as well. He is, but I think
we have a little bit more of a no what
arch Manning is versus Julian saying. But my point is
is as looking at the Iowa State can the State game,
I was buying into Kansas State, but at the same
time they were favored to win the division. It's just like, man,
that's a jump, that's a leap. That's a big time
(03:09):
expectation for a team like that that hasn't done much
their whole time as far as I'm concerned in the
Big Twelve. So I wasn't shocked that they ended up
losing the game. However, if I could just bloviate about
something for a second year in that game, and I'm
curious how this is going to play out in the NFL,
because I know that they're starting to use it. I
(03:31):
did see it on a few preseason games. Full disclosure,
I haven't watched a ton of NFL preseason I did
in a Week one, Week two, I think I watched
a little bit. Didn't watch any Week three. Action just
can't do it, you know, teach their own. I think
I turned tune into that Eagles game against the Jets
and I was like, all right, I'm out to see you.
McCord was like, what fifteen for thirty five? You know,
(03:54):
the spotting of the ball, And I know that they're using,
of course, the technology in the NFL, but they're not
doing it at the college level. And you had a
moment in that fourth quarter where Kansas State and fourth down,
runs a QB. Keeper Avery Johnson keeps it and gets stopped.
For my money, in my opinion, I don't think he
(04:15):
was stopped short, but to the refs, he got a
terrible spot. We all knew it. This ref goes in,
steps back and then places the ball down and it's
just like, are we really still doing this? And I
don't know if Kansas State wins the game if they
get that first down, but I just want the calls
to be correct, that's all. So one of the things
(04:36):
that I am definitely eyeing up the most is the
new technology in the NFL, and I hope, I hope
that it is just everything that we could dream of,
and more right, just get it to the tenth of
an inch. We want the ball to be at the
spot that it should be at. I don't know how
it's gonna work out. Again, I've watched very few preseason
(04:58):
games where it was used. I think I saw like
or three times if I'm not mistaken already. But I
am excited about that and hopefully college will implement that
into their game starting next year as well, because it's
just disheartening, right and like here you had an opportunity
to again, there's a million different ways that game could
have went. It was so sloppy. There was what two
(05:18):
turnovers in the first five minutes at Kansas State. You
want to say, you want to talk about missing or
not picking up that first down, about dropping the punt
at the beginning of the game. I don't even think
they scored a touchdown on that one, but it was like,
what are we doing right now? So tough, but that's
college football. You know you're gonna get some of that
some tough breaks and breaks are gonna go your way.
But it was just fun to have it back and
(05:40):
speaking up breaks going your way. What was the number fifty?
I think they were locked at no because it would
have been fifty one, so it was fifty one and
a half. And if that touchdown is scored, they're at
fifty one in the final seconds for Iowa State, and
if they kicked that extra it goes to fifty two
(06:01):
and everybody cashes on the over fifty one and a half. Now,
there was some significant line movement, and matter of fact,
that number did go up, which is intriguing, from like
forty nine and a half to fifty one and a
half before the kick games leading up to our days
leading up to the kick. But it was funny how
it ended. And Colby Marshio good friend of the program,
(06:24):
who will be on the on the show on Wednesday.
I believe we'll talk some college football with Colby this
year and baseball as well. Where he was making the
case that that's a rivalry game, that's Iowa State Kansas State.
That's a rivalry game in his mind. For me, yeah sure,
But Matt Campbell decided to kneel it, and I don't
(06:47):
think it was necessarily the wrong call because at the end,
if you were able to run out the clock due
to kneeling the ball, you'd do it. I believe it
was four times though, so oh in all, they don't
score the touchdown at the end, it stays under the total.
Of course, they were underdogs, so it didn't matter, but
they won. And if you had Iowa State, nice work.
By you. A nice call as far as that one
(07:08):
was concerned. You know, we rolled into the next game
with Idaho State and un l v U, and lv
was losing for the majority of that game. They've ended
up scoring fourteen points late in the fourth quarter and
that's how they were able to pull away. But Idaho
State was to play with the team total and that
one Western Kentucky Sam Houston State was a decent game.
(07:30):
Trying to think was the other game? The fourth game?
I apologize, oh, Kansas. Kansas was a blow out of
a Fresno State that was a tough one. Kansas was
ready and Jadon Daniels looked pretty good in that game
for Kansas. He was all over the place again if
you watched him play. His biggest issue is he can't
stay healthy. But he has the athleticism to make you
(07:52):
look foolish out there, and he did that a few
times against Fresno State. Can sling it too. There's a
lot to like about that kid. But canny stay healthy,
that's the question. And I'm sure, I'm sure that he's
giving some general managers out there the Anthony Richardson vibes,
and I don't know if that's fair because you're talking
about a guy who played thirteen starts versus however many.
(08:16):
But there's something though, I could see a general manager
taking a shot on Daniels. I don't know what his
projected draft is concerned, but we'll see what happens. And
he's been there forever. But Canny stay healthy. We'll see
as far as that is concerned. Now, this week's college
football car We're gonna be all over for you tomorrow.
We're gonna start talking about all things Thursday and Friday. Thursday,
(08:39):
we open up shop at Boise State in South Florida
at five thirty. That's a good game, and we got
a rivalry game between ECU and nc State, which is
a double digit spread right now with fourteen Rutgers in
action fifteen and a half point favorites over Ohio. Let's
see here. Buffalo was a game that Julian Edlo had
his eye on. Under take on Minnesota. They're catching seventeen
(09:02):
and a half. He likes the dog in that one.
Nebraska with Matt Ruhle, they're taking on Cincinnati, has six
and a half point road favorites. In Wisconsin, they're taking
on Miami of Ohio seventeen and a half point favorites.
That's all going down on Thursday night. Friday, we got
a bunch of good games as well, including Auburn and Baylor,
UNLV and Sam Houston back at it, Georgia Tech and Colorado.
(09:22):
The dog is barking in that one Georgia Tech plus
minus four on the road in Colorado. And then, as
I said, Saturday, it's just gonna be a heater from
twelve o'clock all the way into I know the game
that I'm looking forward to the most is LSU and Clemson,
which is at seven point thirty and Clemson is three
and a half point favorites. But man, that game. The
(09:42):
latest game. We got Georgia Southern Presido State back at
it at nine thirty. So some there are some games
that will have our attention. Ole Miss thirty five and
a half point favorites taking out Georgia State. That game's
going off at seven forty. We got games on Sunday.
Beef and I will be going live on Sunday this weekend,
including Notre Dame and Miami. Will recap what took place
on Saturday. Get you ready for Virginia Tech at South
(10:04):
Carolina it's gonna be a good game two as well,
as I said, Notre Dame in Miami two and a
half points spread, the Irish favorite on the road against Miami.
And then Monday, the Bill Belichick Show gets started in
Chapel Hill, North Carolina as they are three and a
half point home dogs to t c U. That furry
free quarterback on the road going against Belloijack's defense to
(10:26):
open up the season. Interesting stuff down there. But again,
college football back in our lives front and center. What
a fun weekend it was. Get involved in the conversation
at any winning plays, any losing plays, any bad beats.
Love to hear from you at Fox PHL Gambler. At
Fox PHL Gambler. We did have some other odds and
ends from the weekend. And as I talked about with
(10:49):
Luke with Tommy Fleetwood, all eyes now are in the
world of golf over to Bethpage and what they're going
to do. The big question right now is who's going
to make it. I think it's down to two players
are two spots, because I would be shocked if Keegan
doesn't put himself on. I just think he realizes that,
like you know, no one thinks higher of themselves than you,
(11:10):
and he is playing really well. Is it that difficult
to do both? Man? It doesn't matter. You got to
find a way to win. And if Keegan is the
captain and he says, you know what, I trust myself
out there on the course, let's go, I'm all for it.
I don't think that him being the captain is going
to hold him back as a player or make him
(11:30):
play worse. I think he's ready and mentally prepared and
he's a fiery guy. So I'm fired. I'm whatever Keegan
Bradley wants to do. I'm all for let's go. And
I think more Cow and JT will be in it.
So that means there's two spots left if I'm not mistaken.
And that's some really tough stuff there. I don't know
who's going to get in, really intrigued, and of course
(11:52):
every every bit matters. You know, the USA has to
find a way to win. And it's really exciting that
it's that beth Page could be electric and all of
fun that weekend coming up here on the twenty third
through the twenty eighth, All Things beth Page would be
discussed on Swinging and NINGGD I know Moose Mays and
Danielle will be all over the Ryder Cup for us
here on the Gambler. Speaking of golf, though, if I
(12:13):
could one from the ugly side of things, Patrick can'tlay.
You can't do that, just can't nope, can't do it.
And I'm not one of these guys I watch every
every weekend. I do. I pay attention. I thought I
did a little bit more. Can't lay like I think.
(12:36):
I remember there was a Brooks Koepka situation where can't
Ley was in front of him, But this was like
the first time that I was watching Patrick can't lay
and I was like, dude, this is ridiculous. It has
to stop. He was taking literally fifty five to sixty
(12:58):
seconds to hit the ball. And you know, when we're
talking about pace of play, these guys are out there
five and a half six hours sometimes on Sunday and
it just can't happen. And a lot of it is
because of guys like that, and you have to penalize them.
There's only one way that you're going to make this change.
(13:21):
You have to penalize these golfers. If they plan on
standing over the ball, waggling, standing over the ball, waggling
sixty seconds from grabbing the club to hitting the ball?
What are we doing? That was absurd And it was
(13:41):
Can't lay versus Fleetwood And in the beginning of the
damn day, I'm going, is he doing this on purpose?
Is it like a tough shots? No, it's every single time.
It was brutal to watch Patrick can't lay. It has
to stop. And I know that. There is a quote
(14:02):
from Brooks Kopka going, yeah, you just gotta stroke, guys. Yeah,
you gotta stroke guys. That's what you have to do
if you want this to change. The only way you
can do it is if you start stroking them. Ah Lord,
penalize them one way or the other. You can't get
all over the ball and take sixty seconds to at it.
(14:26):
You're a professional. Step up, let's go. I remember a
friend of mine like, it wasn't even you know, I
wasn't even along with it. A friend of mine is like,
all right, dude, you're gonna do this the whole roun.
I'm like, what are you talking about? I just step back,
make sure I'm aiming the right way. And I'm a nobody.
Then my buddy was busting me. I can do people
(14:47):
say anything. They can't they do other players like literally
go up to them post round. Would you even waste
your time? I don't know, because at the end of
the day, it comes down to the tour penalize them.
It's absurd. That was ridiculous being able to watch that
take place on Sunday. And I wasn't the only one
(15:08):
that was flipping out about it. Everybody was. If you
saw it on your timeline, Patrick Cantlay and him taking
his damn time every single shot. It could be in
the fair way where he has nothing to worry about,
no trees, no nothing, no wind. Still look up down,
up down, up down, up down up, like hit the ball, dude.
(15:31):
That was brutal, unbelievable. All right. We also have some
other stuff from the weekend that I want to get
to in the world of football. From the NFL side,
of course, there's a lot to update as far as
who is back to negotiating. The Eagles were active this weekend.
We got some deals that we need to hit on
that one again, we're talking about offensive line and you know, quarterback.
(15:55):
But at the end of the day, Jale hurts jailing
hurts them. McKy's Den McKee. But is there more to
that move. We'll break that one down a little bit
later as well. But the NFL from the weekend, we'll
start with Micah Parsons. And I don't know how this
plays out for Mikeh and the Cowboys, you know, full disclosure.
(16:21):
All along, I said, Terry McLaurin will be in the
commander's camp for week one. Now, he hasn't practiced, but
I said, you know what, somebody like that realizes how
important he is. It felt like those conversations were moving
in a positive direction. And oh, by the way, they
need them. Zach Ertz was going to be their number one,
(16:44):
zach Ertz, who I thought was retiring like three years ago.
So Terry McLaurin gets a new deal and that was
breaking news about a few hours ago today. So he
is back with the commanders. I'll be back practicing and
ready to go for that Week one game. Michaeh Parsons.
All along, I was on the other side. It felt
(17:05):
like they're digging their heels in and I don't like you.
I don't like the way you're treating me. You should
be treating me better. And oh, by the way, I'm
Michael Parsons. He's got an attitude, he's got an ego,
and he should. He's a great player, But with the
whole podcasting nonsense, it's just another level to it. So
(17:26):
this feels like something that you know he's got that
too in them. Right, There's like I said, there's levels
to certain players' egos. To O was next level, and
of course can't bound Michael Parson's young career, but if
he continues to play the way he has been, he'll
be can'ting bound. So again, those type of players are
(17:47):
gonna do what they want. I just felt all along them.
McLaurin will be back with the Commanders. I don't have
that sense with Michael Parsons, and all I know is
on the defensive side of the ball. If the Cowboys
do not bring michaeh Arsons to Philadelphia and line him up,
suit him up with the fifty three, and have him
starting on the defensive side of the ball, I think
(18:07):
the Eagles are going to run the rock all over
the Cowboys. It's going to get ugly in that Week
one game. Now, that's something that Jerry Jones have to
be prepared for. And I don't think he's going to
like that all that much. So it wouldn't shock me
that if they do find a way to get this
going and get him in camp, practicing, so on and
(18:30):
so forth, and get him ready for September. Why do
I not remember that day? September fifth? Is that the
Thursday fourth? Thursday fifth? It would be the fourth? Excuse me?
September fourth is that Thursday? So anything could happen, as
we say, it's fluid, right, but at this point in
time and what took place over the weekend, I just
(18:52):
don't see it happening. I don't think Micah Parsons is
with the Cowboys week one versus the Eagles, and you
want to talk about a loss, that's that's that's like
Ceedee lamb esque not being out there the Seede just
a little bit more because of how dominant he is.
But Michael Parsons is a freak on the defensive side
of the ball. He's all over the place, and if
(19:16):
he's not going to be suiting up for the Cowboys,
I think the Eagles are the lock play of that week.
We talked about survivor plays. Yeah, you might not want
to use the Eagles in Week one understood. You might
not want to choose between division battles. I get it,
but come on, man, X's and O's here, Jimmy's and
Joe's out there. We know who's who and what's what.
(19:36):
And the Eagles possess a much better offensive line, much
better run game. Keep it simple in a week one
atmosphere at home dropping a banner and their best defender
is not out there, and Michael Parsons woo and has
the carryover effect too. You know, if you're a defensive
player and it's like, man, we're getting their ass kicked
like and Mike is not out there like it's it's
(19:56):
got to just chew you up and make you really pissed.
You know. They have that documentary as far as the
Cowboys are concerned on Netflix that cut a little bit
of it. Haven't really dug too deep into it. But
Charles Haley was so upset when Emitt Smith wasn't in
camp due to contract negotiations, he threw a helmet at
Jerry Jones almost hit him. He said. Emmit Smith was
(20:18):
signed that following week. I just don't think Jerry cares anymore.
I think Jerry just wants to do it. His way,
a little bit lost up there, you know, and it's
his show and no one's gonna make him look bad.
And Michael Parsons don't give a damn. And what you
saw over the weekend is a clear, clear look at
(20:39):
a guy who don't give a damn laying on the
table in the middle of the game without a jersey on,
the only player on the sideline without a Cowboys jersey on.
Not good. Not good. That's a terrible look for Michael Parsons.
That's an even worse look for the Dallas Cowboys because
that has carryover effect to the team. You know, you're
(20:59):
about to start season where in Dallas they always talk
about winning the Super Bowl, so you know, has it
happened in forever? But you know, darn well, the attention
is there, and your best player on defense is literally
laying on the trainer's table in the middle of the game,
looking up and everyone's taking pictures. Not a good look.
(21:19):
So I think this is again. I don't know what
the details are as far as trading him. I don't
know if that's going to be the way it plays out.
But week one I just don't see him sitting up
for the Cowboys in Philadelphia. Love to get your thoughts
on that one at Fox Pho Gambler Michael Parsons and
the Cowboys. It is ugly, Jose Press check it in
(21:41):
Phillies and Mets coming up tonight. I'm thinking positive. We
sweeping the Mets at New York and at the Bank.
How about that, sports fans, Oh lord, I like it.
Let's go, Jose. I'm in. My theory is if they
take all three here, that's foot on throat material, that's
a ten game lead in the division. We could start
focusing on playoff baseball. I feel like that right now.
(22:05):
But there's plenty of baseball to be played, and especially
if you go up there and lose this series to
the Mets and you want to give them any momentum.
There's a bad team. It's a terrible team. It's a
team that's lost a ton since the middle of June went. Oh,
by the way, they had the best record in baseball.
Think about that. How bad they've fallen off. They're only
a game and a half up in the Wild Card
At this point in time. Anything is possible, but tonight
(22:27):
is a good one. Take the Phillies on the road
with Christopher Sanchez going up against the Mets. All right
again NFL from the weekend, and it's preseason. But I
have to talk about the Door Sanders and what's taking
place with the Cleveland Browns. And like I said, I
am not going to sit here and tell you that
(22:49):
I watched the full game. I did watch the door
Sanders go in on the third quarter out of half.
I missed the first half. And the Cleveland Browns had
Flacco start, didn't Flaccos start. I want to say, look good,
he threw a touchdown. Gabriel came in. He looked good
(23:13):
apparently as well. Let me pull up the numbers here
because that was against the Rams. Correct. Yeah, on the
twenty third in Cleveland, the Browns, Yeah, Dylan Gabriel twelve
and nineteen touchdown, Flacco nine to ten for a touchdown
seventy one yards. Huntley went in after Sanders, So Sanders
(23:33):
was in there in the second half. He was three
or six. He was sacked five times, if I'm not mistaken,
only for fourteen yards. But there was some madness on
the timeline. And like people that are in the world
of the media, people that are getting paid to give
their opinions, Like, I know, we live in a crazy
(23:54):
world right now, where up is down, left is right,
right is left, wrong is right, right is wrong. You know,
everything is opposite, and it seems like not a lot
of this stuff matters. I get it. And there are
plenty of people out there that love to throw their
opinion hoping to catch something just from the sake of
the attention, the follow of course, the numbers, the metrics,
(24:15):
that's what it comes down to for a lot of
these people. I am not one of those people. I've
never put something on my timeline or said something on
this microphone that I don't believe, and I'm proud of that.
There's not much to me, but I promise you when
you hear me or see me tweet or anything on
social media, I'm giving you one hundred percent honest opinions
on this. But for somebody to sit there and say
(24:37):
that the Cleveland Browns were out to sabotage Shador Sanders
by having him go out there with the offensive line
that was cut and like it just made no sense
to me. And watching what I did watch in that
second half, Shador was running around, you know, think and
(25:00):
like it was Colorado he wasn't smooth. But it's real
simple for me with this whole situation. The Cleveland Browns
are viewing Shador Sanders as a fifth round draft pick,
which he was. He was. He's not a starting quarterback.
That's Joe Flaco Dylan Gabriel. They view in a better
(25:23):
light he was a third round selection. Is that right
or wrong? Maybe in your mind, but in their mind,
that's how they're operating. Chador getting an opportunity to play
in the second half is enough. Would I'd like to
see him in that two minute warning? Sure? Why did
(25:43):
they go with Tyler Huntley? I'm not sure about that.
Stefanski had his reasons. Did he see enough from Shador?
Was there something that he didn't like? Whatever it may be,
it's pre season football. But for the people out there
that are losing their minds to the Tim Tebow level,
and I've seen that on the timeline, I'm sorry to
regurgitate that, but it's the reality. It's the truth. Some
(26:06):
of the things that people are saying, they're out of
their minds. The Cleveland Browns are trying to sabotage a
player that they drafted because fan base likes him, because
he gets cheered because his dad's dion. Dude, you got
an opportunity to go out there and play, well, you
better do it. You're a fit round selection. I don't
(26:26):
know how they keep all these quarterbacks. I really don't
think they will, but it would be interesting to see
if they did, say you know what, we're waving shador
I don't think that's going to happen. What would you know?
Where would he be picked up? Would he play for
any other team? Probably not. He is a rookie. Give
him an opportunity to grow. I'm with you on that,
but some of the things that are being said right
(26:48):
now just ridiculous. And for a team like the Cleveland Browns,
who have never gotten the quarterback position right in the
last three plus decades, at least they have Joe Flah
starting for them, who can win you a football game
still at this age, it's crazy to say that, but
(27:09):
at least they have Joe Flacco. That is the right move.
This team needs to go into this season trying to
win a couple of games here to right the wrongs.
At least play well on defense, and as I believe,
they have a couple of draft picks next year in
what is a deep quarterback draft, So what are they
(27:30):
going to do. It's not a team that it's a
team that they don't get much right. But for my money,
I think Joe Flacco is the right call to start
Week one. Shador look good against the Carolina Panthers. We
talked a lot about that should have been drafted higher.
Of course I think I thought so, But ultimately that's
not the way Cleveland Browns looked at him, and of
course the way the NFL looked at him. Because he
dropped that far. I really don't think he dropped that
(27:52):
far because of a fanfare. I really don't think he
dropped that far because of the camera crew. I really
don't think he dropped that far because of Dion. I
think a lot of these NFL teams got it wrong.
Shador should have been drafted a tad bit higher than
what he was. Well here, he had an opportunity that
second half, and that and the previous or the last
exhibition game against the Rams, and he looked atrocious running
(28:15):
around just you know, extending plays not getting rid of it.
Wasn't a good outing by Shador. And maybe that's the
reason why Stefanski said, you know, what I've seen enough.
