Speaker 1 (00:04):
Bring it on in.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
It is a Thursday daily ticket with your ushabras ride.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
It's so low for now. Of course, a special day
for everybody out there.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Oh no, I'm not talking about anything. Definitely not even
want to get into the mix as far as phillies
and braids are concerned. No, this is the opener for
college football Week one. All starts this evening with a
mean slate of games, a lot to choose from a
Schmorgers board full of selections at the collegiate level. And
(00:37):
there are a few games that are very intriguing to me.
But this is again if you miss it, if you
missed it earlier. This week, we are just tipping our
toes into the water here. That's it, tipping our toes,
I said, tipping. I don't know why, and I'm looking
at it from the perspective of we just need to
be smart. Yeah, it's excited to be back. But you know,
(00:58):
the Phil Steel magazine, all the Pick six previews, everything
you want to read that make you believe you're the
next you know Lee Corso it we're not, and crazier
things are gonna happen. Teams need to feel themselves out
and of course fill themselves out as well. I would
say from the most part tonight, when it comes to
(01:18):
the point spread and the total, I see a lot
of big numbers, and that's what's really catching my attention
where I'm looking at this evening's card and going Vegas
odds makers think we were gonna see a lot of
scoring this evening. I am not one of these people
that believe they hit the ground running. I think we
see at the professional level, and I sure as heck
(01:39):
believe we're gonna see it at the collegiate level, and sloppiness,
whatever it may be, these games will stay a little
bit more under the total, but then you gotta flip it.
And we often say they know more than everybody else
for a reason. So when you see a Boise State
South Florida game that starts at five point thirty, that
was high at six and a half, now down to
five and a half because money coming in on South Florida,
(02:01):
the dog there catching five and a half at home,
but the total staying steady at sixty one and a half,
you have to ask yourself, why is that you're talking
about a trip to South Florida from a team from
Boise Idaho that's one. Two hot warm weather down there
in South Florida.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Three.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Let's not discount the opponent. South Florida. I know Boise
State is good. I know they have a ton returning
from last year. Everybody's going to pick up the ashtra.
Genty is no longer in the uniform. Congratulations, Yes he
went to the pros.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
But the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
There's so many other players back from last year's team.
And oh, by the way, look at the success that
the team had last year. I would look at in
that game, I think you're rolling the dice with any play.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
But for my money, if you made me make a selection,
I would almost have to take the under in that one.
I just believe that we are going.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
To see a little bit of adjustment period for these
teams to get going, and you know, just need to
give them the opportunity to figure it out. Is a
slam dung favorite to win the Mountain West. That minus
won sixty five. The next team up, as far as
odds are concerned, eight to one with San Jose State
un LV nine to one, Fresno State eleven to one.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
That fills out the Mountain West.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
I look at that game more so than anything because
it's the first one.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
It's five point thirty kickoff. That is intriguing to me.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
It's gotta be a little bit different for the players,
but it's game one. How much difference will it make.
We'll find out. Greg Ciao back company. With Rutgers. They're
fifteen and a half point favorites fifty one and a
half against Ohio, Ohio with a good defense and a
team that's consistently in the top four.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
As far as the MACU is concerned, fifteen and a
half might be too many.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
But again, on the road of Rutgers Game one, East
Unenci State's going to be gett a play that's going
to get an action play here. I'm gonna take East Carolina.
The big reason for me is the fact that they're
catching two touchdowns as a rivalry game. They just finished
up the season last year playing at the Liberty Bowl
where all anarchy went and had happened at the end
(04:08):
of the game, multiple players swinging on each other, a
ref got gets hit. It was ugly and to the
point that there are multiple players from both sides East
Carolina and NC State that are suspended for the season
opener this evening in Raleigh.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
North Carolina because of what took place at.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
The Liberty Bowl. Man, I wish I would have made
that game. I know we talked about it. I wish
I would have drove to that game. Anyways, NC State
fourteen point favorites sixty one and a half. I'm gonna
go with the Pirates in that one, think that it
could remain close. I think there's some pride in the
line for ECU. But that's definitely a game that has
my attention, of course a little partial to you know,
(04:48):
living in Raleigh. I actually have some affection somewhat to
NC State. I have a lot of friends that graduated
from n C State that are they're still living in
Raleigh at this point in time. I do have a
lot of people, a lot of friends that are currently
in East Carolina as well. So I'm pulling for ECU.
It's thirty underdogs. Why not let's see them upset and oh,
by the way, I'll have a little money on the
(05:10):
line as well. Dilan Royl getting to start for Nebraska
six and a half. Fifty two and a half is
our total in this one. Games at Kansas City, where
Mahomes of course and Roola looked well you know, Dylan
Royl is copying off of off of Patrick Mahomes and
(05:31):
his look a little weird, but he played it off
like it's not what you guys think.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
You know, it really is.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Not to say that he's a grown man, but he's
definitely mature enough to realize, like, you know, he's he's
dressing like another dude. It's kind of, I don't know,
just odd, but we understand he's a football player.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
He likes him as the quarterback. Knock yourself out.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
He is to a tea Patrick Mahomes junior, though he
wears the same number, the same haircut, and they're playing
this game at Arrowhead Stadium, which is very intriguing to me,
and I think it's hysterical.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
But we'll see.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
We'll see how this one's gonna work out against six
and a half. Might be too much for my money,
but the expectations are for him and that offense to
really get going here early.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Now.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
They were good early last year, but they fell apart
in the middle of the season, and a lot had
to do with the fact that he threw a lot
of interceptions. He turned the football over. He wasn't the
same quarterback at the beginning of the year, and of
course the teams get worse, teams improve, and so on
and so forth. Dana Holgerson, former West Virginia head coach,
is now the I believe, the offensive coordinator, and I
(06:42):
think he took over late.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Last year or something like that, if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
So they've had a full offseason together, so that's something
that they're looking to approve on. Just the fact that
you know, Ryola and Holgerson have been able to, you know,
start to work on what they want to run.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
And this is the first game in the seas, so
maybe this is a.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Spot to back Nebraska and minus six and a half.
I'm going to stay away from that one. As I
told you, I think I'm gonna take the under in
the Boise State games. See what we can get going
in that one. Maybe we do see some points, maybe
we don't, but sixty one and a half is a
big time number. That's a lot of points. So I'll
take a shot on that one. See if we can
get a little sloppy track down there from time, maybe
(07:23):
a fumbler or two keep them out of the end zone.
The next thing you know, it's a fifty plus win
for one of those two teams. I do think Boise
State is good enough to go down there and win
that game. But South Florida has some horses too, So
it's definitely a game that is very intriguing in that manner.
A lot to choose from when it comes to the
world of college football. And then we roll into Friday.
(07:47):
As far as the games tomorrow night, and look, I
think there are good games tomorrow night. I would say, though,
if I had to give you a little bit of
a you know, a vibe as far as which is
the better card tomorrow or tonight. Tomorrow we have the
big one. Let's see here Western Michigan and Michigan State.
(08:10):
We've got app State and Charlotte that's not doing anything
for anybody. While Illinois and in competition taking out Western
Illinois that's a forty five and a half point spread,
a lot of love for Illinois. Kansas back and actually
taking out Wagner forty five and a half, that could
be a game that I would eye up.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
But that's a lot of points as well.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
The big one is Georgia Tech and Colorado still holding
steady a four and a half fifty one and a
half is our total game being played out there at Colorado,
and of course Dion without his son, first time in
a long time coaching a team that his son is
not the quarterback for so very interesting to see how
that one's gonna play out.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
But I do believe in the Rambling.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Wreck their four and a half point favorites with on
the road for a reason. I am looking at Tech
and that offense to keep it going, build on what
they were able to get going last year. And we'll
learn about Colorado now. They do have a good quarterback
to transfer from Liberty and he earned a position. You
know that Prime's gonna have him ready to go.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Believe in.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
It's a magical place up there in Boulder. It really
is for those games, great home field advantage.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
So four and a half is.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Are spreading now with fifty one and a half. But
I'm gonna go with the Ramble and Reck a game
that everybody is talking about from the manner of like
we don't know what to expect. But Auburn's a two
and a half point favorite, huh. That game taking on
Baylor tomorrow at eight pm. Baylor tun a half point favorites.
Auburn's doing something funky with their quarterbacks. It's it's definitely
something to pay attention to. And Auburn, I would just say,
(09:37):
as far as what we've seen, what was.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Their record last year?
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Excuse me, I would think that Hugh Freeze needs to
get going here. He is definitely on the hot seat.
And a way to start that game or start the
season off with a loss to Baylor that is a
I don't know if he's gonna be able to come
back from that one.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
That's an ugly way to start.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
So I'm looking at Hugh Freeze, Auburn two and a
half point favorites on the road.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
I think it's gonna be a fun game.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
It's definitely a game that has everybody's attention for rightfully so.
But man, I just have to believe that it's looking
like I might play Baylor on this one. I'm not
buying what Auburn is selling me. So I think I
might look at Baylor in that one again, catching two
and a half as the home dog there as well.
(10:32):
UNLV in Sam Houston State. Both teams played last week.
Both teams in action had to head. That's a nine
and a half point spread. Don't really care too much
and then we roll into Saturday's car which there is
nothing bigger than Texas and Ohio State a point and
a half spread in that one. All right from college
football again, good look on those plays. DraftKings sports Book
promo code. Use brace Let them know you're listening to
(10:53):
us here on the Gambler. College NFL doesn't matter. Use
Brace's promo code for Draft Kings sports Book. Okay, over
to Major League Baseball because the Phillies ended up getting
swept by the Mets yesterday, and that was.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
A play that we all had. Everybody had. Nobody thought
that the Phillies were gonna win that game.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
And now you gotta leave, and you gotta head home,
get some home cooking with Aaron Nola on the mound?
Do you need a great performance by him? That team
should be feeling some pressure. Phil should be feeling some
pressure here. So I'm in the world of like, is
this a spot to take the Braves here at plus
one fifty two or is this a Nola bounce back
spot for the team as a whole.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
And I have to look at it in that manner.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Quantrell's getting the start, Cal Quantrell for the Braves. There's
nothing to back there. So Aaron Nola, you just expect
him to have a better performance and maybe a little
bit longer than what he's shown so far. I know
the last time out he gave us five innings of
solid pitch baseball, but.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
He need more from Aaron Nola. Right now.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
I think we're all in agreement there. We'll see that
game's coming up again tonight, first pitch, six, five pm,
Red Hot Yankees. They're on the road taking on the
White Sox minus one ninety eight favorites. That's a game
I would look at the Mets at home taking on
the Marlins minus two sixty six with Clay Homes on
the mound, you have to believe that the Mets are
gonna cool off and a good one out there at
(12:15):
Wrigley Chicago, and the Giants getting started in the afternoon
here the oh, excuse me, that is not at Wrigley,
that's out in the Bay. Logan Webb getting to start
minus won twenty favorites in that one. So the Phills
need to find a way to get a win this evening.
Hopefully that will be the case, and we ride into
(12:36):
Labor Day weekend and of course hopefully are able to
put this Mets series behind them, and we'll see what
happens from there.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
But I do believe that.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Look, gotta give them Mets off the credit in the world.
They played some great baseball in those three games. But
sometimes it's just not your day, not your series, and
all you can do is.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Just move on.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
And you're not gonna tell me that the Phillies on
a good team just because they got.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Swept by them.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Sweeps happ Oh well, look at the Detroit Tigers. They've
been a great team all season long. They're fading. They
just got swept by the A's. Look at the Blue Jays,
I think it's down to four games. They've been great
all season long. There's a chance that they could lose
the Al East, right, like, we gotta play one sixty
two here, So steady in the boat. All right, Once again,
(13:21):
we got some great college football coming your way, and
we got some great college football.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Conversation as well on the station. First and foremost.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Coming up next, you're gonna hear Ryan Beef Coyle and
Nick McLay with Football is King, followed by more Beef,
more Beef, more Better you get Beef, Joe Tanzy and
Mark Henry junior with all things college football Week one.
Nothing better than that the big brains in college football
giving you an edge starting tonight, so you don't want
(13:50):
to miss that that's coming your way at four o'clock.
Don't touch that down, though, Daily ticket rolling on more
after this
