college football Week one. All starts this evening with a
mean slate of games, a lot to choose from a
Schmorgers board full of selections at the collegiate level. And

there are a few games that are very intriguing to me.
But this is again if you miss it, if you
missed it earlier. This week, we are just tipping our
toes into the water here. That's it, tipping our toes,
I said, tipping. I don't know why, and I'm looking
at it from the perspective of we just need to
be smart. Yeah, it's excited to be back. But you know,

the Phil Steel magazine, all the Pick six previews, everything
you want to read that make you believe you're the
next you know Lee Corso it we're not, and crazier
things are gonna happen. Teams need to feel themselves out
and of course fill themselves out as well. I would
say from the most part tonight, when it comes to

the point spread and the total, I see a lot
of big numbers, and that's what's really catching my attention
where I'm looking at this evening's card and going Vegas
odds makers think we were gonna see a lot of
scoring this evening. I am not one of these people
that believe they hit the ground running. I think we
see at the professional level, and I sure as heck

believe we're gonna see it at the collegiate level, and sloppiness,
whatever it may be, these games will stay a little
bit more under the total, but then you gotta flip it.
And we often say they know more than everybody else
for a reason. So when you see a Boise State
South Florida game that starts at five point thirty, that
was high at six and a half, now down to
five and a half because money coming in on South Florida,

the dog there catching five and a half at home,
but the total staying steady at sixty one and a half,
you have to ask yourself, why is that you're talking
about a trip to South Florida from a team from
Boise Idaho that's one. Two hot warm weather down there
in South Florida.

Let's not discount the opponent. South Florida. I know Boise
State is good. I know they have a ton returning
from last year. Everybody's going to pick up the ashtra.

There's so many other players back from last year's team.
And oh, by the way, look at the success that
the team had last year. I would look at in

I would almost have to take the under in that one.
I just believe that we are going.

To see a little bit of adjustment period for these
teams to get going, and you know, just need to
give them the opportunity to figure it out. Is a
slam dung favorite to win the Mountain West. That minus
won sixty five. The next team up, as far as
odds are concerned, eight to one with San Jose State
un LV nine to one, Fresno State eleven to one.

That fills out the Mountain West.

I look at that game more so than anything because
it's the first one.

It's five point thirty kickoff. That is intriguing to me.

half against Ohio, Ohio with a good defense and a

Unenci State's going to be gett a play that's going
to get an action play here. I'm gonna take East Carolina.
The big reason for me is the fact that they're
catching two touchdowns as a rivalry game. They just finished
up the season last year playing at the Liberty Bowl
where all anarchy went and had happened at the end

of the game, multiple players swinging on each other, a
ref got gets hit. It was ugly and to the
point that there are multiple players from both sides East
Carolina and NC State that are suspended for the season
opener this evening in Raleigh.

North Carolina because of what took place at.

The Liberty Bowl. Man, I wish I would have made
that game. I know we talked about it. I wish
I would have drove to that game. Anyways, NC State
fourteen point favorites sixty one and a half. I'm gonna
go with the Pirates in that one, think that it
could remain close. I think there's some pride in the
line for ECU. But that's definitely a game that has
my attention, of course a little partial to you know,

living in Raleigh. I actually have some affection somewhat to
NC State. I have a lot of friends that graduated
from n C State that are they're still living in
Raleigh at this point in time. I do have a
lot of people, a lot of friends that are currently
in East Carolina as well. So I'm pulling for ECU.
It's thirty underdogs. Why not let's see them upset and oh,
by the way, I'll have a little money on the

line as well. Dilan Royl getting to start for Nebraska
six and a half. Fifty two and a half is
our total in this one. Games at Kansas City, where
Mahomes of course and Roola looked well you know, Dylan
Royl is copying off of off of Patrick Mahomes and

his look a little weird, but he played it off
like it's not what you guys think.

You know, it really is.

Not to say that he's a grown man, but he's
definitely mature enough to realize, like, you know, he's he's
dressing like another dude. It's kind of, I don't know,
just odd, but we understand he's a football player.

He is to a tea Patrick Mahomes junior, though he
wears the same number, the same haircut, and they're playing
this game at Arrowhead Stadium, which is very intriguing to me,
and I think it's hysterical.

But we'll see.

We'll see how this one's gonna work out against six
and a half. Might be too much for my money,
but the expectations are for him and that offense to
really get going here early.

They were good early last year, but they fell apart
in the middle of the season, and a lot had
to do with the fact that he threw a lot
of interceptions. He turned the football over. He wasn't the
same quarterback at the beginning of the year, and of
course the teams get worse, teams improve, and so on
and so forth. Dana Holgerson, former West Virginia head coach,
is now the I believe, the offensive coordinator, and I

think he took over late.

Last year or something like that, if I'm not mistaken.

So they've had a full offseason together, so that's something
that they're looking to approve on. Just the fact that
you know, Ryola and Holgerson have been able to, you know,
start to work on what they want to run.

I'm going to stay away from that one. As I

for one of those two teams. I do think Boise

that game. But South Florida has some horses too, So
it's definitely a game that is very intriguing in that manner.
A lot to choose from when it comes to the
world of college football. And then we roll into Friday.

As far as the games tomorrow night, and look, I
think there are good games tomorrow night. I would say, though,
if I had to give you a little bit of
a you know, a vibe as far as which is
the better card tomorrow or tonight. Tomorrow we have the
big one. Let's see here Western Michigan and Michigan State.

We've got app State and Charlotte that's not doing anything
for anybody. While Illinois and in competition taking out Western
Illinois that's a forty five and a half point spread,
a lot of love for Illinois. Kansas back and actually
taking out Wagner forty five and a half, that could
be a game that I would eye up.

The big one is Georgia Tech and Colorado still holding

the road for a reason. I am looking at Tech
and that offense to keep it going, build on what
they were able to get going last year. And we'll

Auburn's doing something funky with their quarterbacks. It's it's definitely
something to pay attention to. And Auburn, I would just say,

the mound, you have to believe that the Mets are
gonna cool off and a good one out there at

that's out in the Bay. Logan Webb getting to start

need to find a way to get a win this evening.

should be feeling some pressure. Phil should be feeling some
pressure here. So I'm in the world of like, is
this a spot to take the Braves here at plus
one fifty two or is this a Nola bounce back
spot for the team as a whole.

I think we're all in agreement there. We'll see that
game's coming up again tonight, first pitch, six, five pm,
Red Hot Yankees. They're on the road taking on the
White Sox minus one ninety eight favorites. That's a game
I would look at the Mets at home taking on
the Marlins minus two sixty six with Clay Homes on
the mound, you have to believe that the Mets are
gonna cool off and a good one out there at

Wrigley Chicago, and the Giants getting started in the afternoon
here the oh, excuse me, that is not at Wrigley,
that's out in the Bay. Logan Webb getting to start
minus won twenty favorites in that one. So the Phills
need to find a way to get a win this evening.
Hopefully that will be the case, and we ride into

Labor Day weekend and of course hopefully are able to
put this Mets series behind them, and we'll see what
happens from there.

Look, gotta give them Mets off the credit in the world.
They played some great baseball in those three games. But
sometimes it's just not your day, not your series, and

been a great team all season long. They're fading. They
just got swept by the A's. Look at the Blue Jays,
I think it's down to four games. They've been great
all season long. There's a chance that they could lose
the Al East, right, like, we gotta play one sixty
two here, So steady in the boat. All right, Once again,

we got some great college football.
