Number one on your car radio preset hand the new
and improved iheard Radio w D A S and w
D two seven three D Philadelpia is Fox Sports Radio
the Gambler.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Here's the one.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
One had a swing and a flat ball left field
wrote it back into his lap, decks, gonna be.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Gone on it cleared.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
It cleared for Castianos. It had justed up lags. And
it's a grand slagh for Nick Castianos.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
As the Phillies breaking.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Wide open here at the bottom of the sixth, it's
ten to two.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
The bitch is lined in the right, coming on Marsh,
he makes the sliding cats and that's the ballgame. And
that's a three games sweep for the Phillies over the
Toronto Blue Jays as the Phillies win five out of
six on this homestand and once again, what a difference
a week can make, as the Phillies sweep the Jays
with an eleven to four win today.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
How about that a nice sweep for all you negative
Nancy's out there for the Phillies June. First week of June.
Happy already canceling season tickets, making plans for October. Come on,
this team is good. And you saw it this weekend.
Blue Jays good squad two series. Now you've seen them play.

(01:51):
That's a decent team up there as far as in
Toronto Al East thirty eight and thirty three, thirty eight
wins coming into this series losing three straight. You do
to math on that. And of course the Phillies forty
two to twenty nine, forty second win on the season yesterday,
Zach Wheeler masterful. Of course they still trail the Mets

(02:12):
well by the way coming to town this weekend. What
do you say about that? Sports fans? All right, Luke
Arcane's gonna join me coming up at about three ten here,
and Luke was at Citizens Bank Park for Crossing broad
dot com all weekend long. We'll talk a lot about
the fightings and what they have to face this evening.

(02:35):
Great read over at Crossing Broad too by our good
friend Joe Tanzy. Of course, Gambler Gangs owned there, talking
a little bit about the Phillies and Marlins game coming up,
deceiving Sandy Alcatra on the mound and minus one thirteen
favorites with Mick Abel getting to start for the Phillies.
So we'll go in depth on that game. Talk a
little bit about from the betting perspective, big picture conversation

(02:58):
from the weekend, and it's just fun. It's it's entertaining
when the team goes out there and scores runs like
they did, especially with the performance as Zach Wheeler. So
I got a lot to discuss as far as the
Phillies and Major League Baseball are concerned. Shoho Tani coming
back to the mountain too, that's a big one for
the Dodgers tonight. Talk a little bit about everything from

(03:20):
the weekend. Major League Baseball gets you caught up, because
I know Father's Day was a big day for all
of us to unplug, unwind, do some stuff with the
kids and the wife and significant others, get out of
the house. I bowled yesterday, first time bowling in forever.
I rolled one thirty seven. I'm curious, is that is
that decent?

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Like?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
How do people roll two hundred fifty three, three hundred
perfect games? Yeah, it's a perfect game. Not everyone does
that is insane in the hierarchy of sports, you know,
you know, it's just as far as things that you
do in sports, and whether it's at you know, the

(04:03):
bar or whether it's at your softball league or something
you've done from high school. Rolling up perfect game's gotta
be up there. It's gotta be up there if you're
gonna lay it all on the line. You know, no
hitter in baseball, you know at winning a gold medal,
it's rolling a three under boweling is tough, man, That's

(04:25):
all I know. All right, we'll talk a little bit
about everything with Luke R. Kane when he joins the
party at three ten. Here's the deal though, yesterday and
of course the weekend, whether you're a gambler or a
golf fan, or you get out on the course and
you know, mash it around, all eyes were on the
US Open. Oakmont delivered and then some that was incredible

(04:49):
from start until finish. Of course, we know it took
place at the end of the four rounds, but man,
my hat's off to Oakmont and what they put the
golfers through. We knew what was going to happen due
to history. We talked a little bit about the previous
time that Oakmont hosted it, the previous couple times at
Oakmont hosted the US Open, what those numbers were, so

(05:11):
we knew it was going to be tough. But you
saw on day one, including JJ Spahn, where a couple
golfers were under par, and you know, it didn't look
like it was all that difficult. Well, the weekend eventually
caught up to him, and the course was dominant. Oakmont
was incredible, and I loved every minute of it, to

(05:32):
the point that yesterday afternoon or around well the rain
delay kind of how funny was that all of a sudden,
everybody's waking up, going, dude, Tiger Woods, rock the meat,
like what's going on here? But the rain delay put
a little bit of a damper. I could say, pun
intended on that, and then next thing, you know, you
started to see like, okay, man, it's really unfair now

(05:54):
with these conditions. But we'll talk a little bit more
about in depth as far as whether they should have
been getting relief in all that. But Oakmont I loved
it about you know, I think it was before the
delay or right after the delay, they come back out there,
there were no golfers under par, what about four or
five holes to go for basically everybody that was still
out there. No golfers were under par in a major.

(06:18):
And for me, for my money, sign me up. That's
what the US Open is all about. There was a
gentleman that took the microphone after jjspawn one, and he
let it be known that everybody wants an opportunity for
a tea time, everybody across the world, all fifty states
in the United States, everybody across the world wants an

(06:39):
opportunity to compete for a US Open. So if you're
able to win it in those conditions at a course
that's notoriously known for how difficult it is, man, that
was insane, perfect theater cinema, as they say. And JJ Spahn,
who was leader after one, kicking button, taking names, had

(07:02):
himself a struggle fest to open up shop. Very unlucky
lucky in round four yesterday where he bogied five out
of his first six bogie are worse, five out of
his first six holes hitting the pen, the ball's jumping
off and next thing you know, he's gotta be chipping
instead of putting or tapping in for a birdie. He
was so unlucky, but man, it did not matter. And

(07:26):
all of a sudden, JJ Spahn with an opportunity to
win the US Open. This dude does not went often
and he gets a great read from viet der Hoblin
and what does he do man Cinema.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
To win the US Open at Oakmont, one of the hardest,
if not the hardest test in major championship ball for.

Speaker 6 (07:49):
The win, JJ Spahn, ball up and over the ridge.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
It's on a very good line. This could go in
JJ Spon makes sense. It's the biggest bone in his career.

Speaker 7 (07:59):
JJ Spon conkers so fun.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
And as you're one hundred and twenty five US Open champion,
sixty four feet in the middle of the cop he
goes birdie birdie to close out and he wins the
US Open. JJ spawn Man, my hat's off to you.
I said he deserved it because of what he went through.

(08:22):
And of course, as I said, dude was at the
top on Thursday, all around the top of the leaderboard
throughout the course of four rounds, just really calm and
he has that demeanor. You know, going into this tournament.
What do we say. It seems like it's a great
spot for those heavy hitters like the Brooks. Keptuse guys
that could just mash it. Eh, take a look at

(08:44):
the leaderboard. Any of those guys at the top of
the list, I know they all hit it a long way,
But man, it took a little bit more in my mind,
what the mental side of the game than anything. You
saw some greats. Justin Thomas just absolutely blow up. We
love JT here, of course we're SPF. He had an
atrocious start. Just go down the list of all the

(09:06):
great names. They weren't at the top. They weren't there.
Scotty Scheffler was, he had an opportunity. I'm sure he's
probably kicking himself. John Brown was there too as well.
I think he finished four under. So look, there were
some big names, but at the end of the day, man,
I didn't hear many people talking about JJ spawn getting
the job done. All right, a lot to discuss, of course,

(09:26):
us open at the top of my list. And you
know what, let's hear from JJ especially about the birdie shot,
the birdie putt to win it. Here he was following
the round and then practice round.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
I hit a nice same sort of ball shaped shot
to the pin. You know, I was just envisioning that
pulled it off, and you know it was a nice
finish where it was what twelve to fifteen feet behind
the hole, you know, happy to walk away with a birdie.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Here's the deal man. JJ spond sixty five feet of
foot putt to win the US Open. He shot forty
on the front nine. All sorts of history. We'll get
into all of it, but joining us right now, Luke Arcaney,
who was at Citizens Bank Park all weekend long. I
think he mixed in a little bit of the US
Open as well. Phillies did finish yesterday a little earlier,

(10:13):
and Father's Day at the Arcaney household as well. Hopefully
old man had a great day, Luke. I saw him working.
Never takes a day off. Come on, mister Arcaney, never never.
But let's let's let's open up with the US Open. Man.
You are golfing officionado here for all things a gambler gang.
Luke plays pretty damn well. Matter of fact, just chopped

(10:33):
it up with a couple of Philadelphia Eagles players at
Aron Jaworski Course. You'll see that video coming out soon.
But your thoughts on JJ Spahn getting getting the job
done at the US Open.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 7 (10:46):
It was just incredible.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
You know, he had some some crazy odds going into
the weekend because you know, it's just he didn't seem
like a player that can go out and win the
US Open. I mean, he's he's had a good year.
Obviously he was in the sort of sudden death, you know,
Rory back at the players, But this is a different game.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
I mean, I think I think everyone saw it.

Speaker 6 (11:10):
And you know, even the guy that shot a forty
on the front yesterday ended up winning the tournament.

Speaker 7 (11:16):
It's it's crazy to say that.

Speaker 6 (11:17):
And it's funny because you know, I was sort of
riding down the stretch.

Speaker 7 (11:22):
Here yesterday there's last few holes, and I was talking.

Speaker 6 (11:24):
With Joe Tanzy and and we were trying to figure
out a few live bets just because it was the
craziest tournament I've I've watched in a while. And we
realized that the best players that we could have bet
on with three four holes left as far as the
last group, was the guys that were already done.

Speaker 7 (11:43):
And that's usually.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
The opposite, right if if if you have any sort
of plus money on a guy that's once back with
three holes.

Speaker 7 (11:52):
Left, you want to jump all over that every time.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
Yesterday, the second Robert McIntyre finishes round, I jumped on
McIntyre live because I knew.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
He was done.

Speaker 6 (12:01):
That's how hard the course was. So it was just
absolutely insane he played. I mean, we're gonna go back
and obviously remember that shot.

Speaker 7 (12:11):
That he hit on eighteen, that sixty five foot birdie
putt to win the US Open. The shot of his
life was the drive on whole seventeen.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
Yeah, the drivable, the dribable part four. You know, if
he gets into the rough there, he's probably making par
He's probably gonna have to.

Speaker 7 (12:30):
Birdie, you know, to go to a playoff or whatever.

Speaker 6 (12:34):
And man, he hit one of the best shots he's
probably ever hit in his life. Ended up just missed
the eagle. Pott ended up making birdie. But I mean,
just an unbelievable four days from him.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
And you know, a guy that is starting to inches
what kind of the Ryder Cup contention now?

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Because when winning these majors, I mean we saw it
the last few years, guys like Windham Clark winning a major,
Brian Harmon win major the last few years, those guys
get into the Ryder Cup because it's just one they've
they've earned their respect and and two they they're really
playing some awesome golf.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Yes, Spawn, he's got to be a Ryder Cup bid
at this point in time, right, He's definitely got to
get in there. The story though it starts and ends
with Oakma and what what of course everything it went
through taking on all of that rain and you know what, man,
that ground screw. I know it kind of came off
a little cultist for some people, but man, that that

(13:34):
that's pretty cool in my world. Like they have this
song where they get everybody going, you know, those dudes
are up, Those guys and girls excuse me, are up
at the butt crack of dawn out there with you know,
headlands on their heads so they can cut a straight line.
That job ain't for that. That job is not easy.
Let's just put it that way. You've got to be

(13:54):
dedicated and and maybe something else. Maybe majority of them
are probably volunteers. Who knows.

Speaker 6 (14:02):
Yeah, and it's especially hard when I don't. I don't
know if you saw any of the clips, but they
don't cut their rough with rying mowers. No, because they
wanted to squash because it's because it squashes down the grass.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Correct.

Speaker 6 (14:16):
So they have assembly lines of about twenty five year
old people out there hand walking the rock. Dude, it's
it's it's an art up there. That that is a
that is an artistic course. It is Yes, it's absolutely incredible.
I mean there was a video. I can't remember what
outlet posted it, but there was a video where they

(14:37):
sat down with like eight or nine like big names
I believe it was Monday of tournament YEP, and their
question they were asked was would you be okay with
finishing this weekend at even part YEP.

Speaker 7 (14:51):
Every single person on the video said yes, yeah. I
mean you would never hear that. You would never hear
that anywhere else. It's just it's un believable.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
And I mean you said it that that is That
is what US Open Golf is like. Last year was
great at Pinehurst just because it's Pinehurst, it's a legendary course,
but people getting to see these guys and you know,
realize that these guys are human. I mean sometimes we
watch Scottie Scheffler and we sit there and we say,
I don't know if that guy's human. He looked human

(15:22):
this weekend because this course just eats guys up. I mean,
the Shambo didn't make the cut correct Wednesday night at
the watch party I placed for Rory de Shambo missed
cut parlay and somebody thought I was crazy. And one
stroke and I hit that Rory made the cup by
one stroke, Shambo missed.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
The cut, that.

Speaker 7 (15:46):
It was really really nice nice. I can't I can't
remember exactly what it is, but.

Speaker 6 (15:52):
But yeah, yeah it was. It was a blood bath, man.
And and that's what the US Open should be, because
you know, I mean, all these guys they can go
down to a link style Hilton Head course and shoot
and shoot, you know, twenty five to thirty under on
the weekend easily.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
But like this, this weekend is is really when you see,
you know, not necessarily.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
Just the best golfers, because I don't I don't think
that because obviously the best golfer in the world didn't
win the tournament this weekend. But you see the guys
that can battle through a course like that, and you
see guys that you look at on a normal golf.

Speaker 7 (16:26):
Course and they're like, yeah, they're great.

Speaker 6 (16:28):
And then you see a guy yesterday like Hatton, who
can't get out of the rough to save his life,
loses is ever loving mine.

Speaker 7 (16:35):
And then his round's done and he probably lost about.

Speaker 6 (16:38):
A million dollars on the last two holds because he
was tied for first, and I think he dropped back
to like tie for six. It's it was absolutely incredible.
It was an awesome, awesome weekend in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
It really was. They delivered and then some JJ spaond
I believe won four point three. I want to say
it was the number with winning the US Open. Yeah,
not a bad payday there. But but now, and look,
there's a lot of history with he was discussing as
far as he thought last year his career was going
to be done. He was going to be looking for
a new job teaching golf. He's a very relaxed type

(17:08):
of dude from la skateboarder. A lot of videos are
service and now some great stuff on the content, but
on the timeline, Yeah, he finished one under only golfer
to finish one under Robert McIntyre. Another one that you
said from the quote, he said that you know, you
give me four rounds of just par golf, I think
that they're going to that's going to win. And he

(17:30):
had an opportunity to get to par, and of he
finished one over, it still would not have been enough
due to the fact that spawn went birdie birdie to
close up one of the toughest rounds of golf.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Ever.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Now let's talk a little bit about the conditions. I
want to get your thoughts on this because some people
were very upset on the timeline with the fact that
Sam Burns had to hit from essentially a place where
they were pushing the water out of the fairway into
the rough. So this is a spot his ball ends
up in a fair way. I mean, he's not the

(18:03):
only golfer that had this issue after the weather delay.
So I'm just curious where do you stand on this,
because I think.

Speaker 8 (18:09):
The ruling itself, the ruling itself should it should have
given all of the golfers relief that were in those
similar situations, and the rules official, not one but two
both said no to that.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
I kind of like, I want to say it like this.
The rules are the rules, and therefore I think that
Sam Burns should have gotten relief, and I think a
lot of golfers should have gotten relief if that's what
happened yesterday after the weather delay. But I will say this,
if you're not going to give it to Sam Burns
and you don't give it to everybody else consistency, I'm

(18:46):
fine with it. Is that the right way to look
at it? Or would you just rather you know what
everybody gets a little bit of relief if their ball
is in somewhat of some trouble area and you couldn't
see the water. That was the issue for Sam Burns
a shot, But if you push down on it, you saw, yeah,
this is a puddle.

Speaker 7 (19:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
I mean, first of all, Sam Burns, welcome to our
normal golf course that we play every Saturday morning after
it rains.

Speaker 7 (19:14):
I mean that's the same situation we have once a week.

Speaker 6 (19:17):
Right, But yeah, no, it's it's tough because you know,
by the rules, he should have got relieved yesterday.

Speaker 7 (19:25):
And that's not saying he's gonna go on to win
the tournament.

Speaker 6 (19:29):
But I I completely understand why he was frustrated, Yeah,
because you know, I mean, he can be that guy
and he can pull the rule book out of his
golf bag and point right to it and you know
that's what the rule is, not saying it was as wet.
But at the same time, JJ Spawn's approach shot on eighteen.

(19:50):
Did you see how much water came off the club
when he hit that.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
To the green? Yeah, he hit the green there.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
So, like you know, it's it's a tough situation, right,
because that's that that situation didn't happen all weekend and
all of a sudden on the fourteenth toll of the
US Open on Sunday, you have to make that decision
on the fly. It's it's not like it even it
even happened on the front nine earlier in the day. Right,
they obviously went through that two hour rain delay, and

(20:17):
they come back, the course is soaked.

Speaker 7 (20:19):
They're walking through puddles. The guys are out there with
the squeegees on the green.

Speaker 6 (20:23):
They're getting let's go squeegee chants out there, right, So
it's yeah, you know, it's it's really tough because it's
gotta be incredibly frustrating for Sam Burns because once again
not saying he's going to win the tournament if he
gets relief on that shot, but you know, from a

(20:43):
from a outside perspective, that's a money shot for him.

Speaker 7 (20:48):
Yeah, you know that if if if he gets relief
there and.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
Maybe he takes Birdie, maybe he makes par, he probably
wins probably about five hundred grand more. You know.

Speaker 7 (20:57):
So it's it's a very very tough situation.

Speaker 6 (21:02):
I can't really say anyone was in the wrong because
I understand the rules.

Speaker 7 (21:06):
Official when he walks up.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
You didn't see any water, but correct watched Sam Burns
hit shot. Sam Burns also a guy who tends to
play a fade right. He's a normal left or right guy.
And the ball just flew out right and or left
and never came back. So, like, it's pretty obvious it

(21:28):
was extremely wet there on the ground, all right.

Speaker 7 (21:31):
So I mean it's a tough situation.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Yeah, and I just want consistency, and like you said,
it's four whole fourteen. It's just a tough spot. But man,
the rules of the rules. Bret Baxxon talked about it,
and then people were putting on the timeline. They he
should have gotten relief, and essentially all the golfers really
if they wanted relief, they should have gotten relief. But
you know, I'm consistency is key in my world when

(21:52):
you come when it comes to like officials and umpires
and everything along those lines. I thought they were pretty consistent.
Leaving it at that, the story is JJ's on. Nice
work by him. He cashed in one, one hundred and
twenty to one to win the US Open. Unbelievable. If
you had to play on him, I slute you. I
sure as Helle did not hear JJ spond on any
of the breakdowns that I was here listening to or reading.

(22:15):
All Right, we got Luke Carcaney. Let's talk some Phillies
and then I want to end on some high school
baseball where we're gonna take it to North penn and
a state championship game decided by a bock. Tough, tough
break there for those kids. But let's talk about the
Phillies' It's isn't winning great, man, Like it's entertaining. It's
fun eleven to four wins, Zach Wheeler out there pitching

(22:38):
great on Sunday. You know, it's just funny because you
have the giants that went out there and made the
move for Devers and to get the deal done, and
look as far as what they had to give up,
Come on, man, it would have been nice for the
Phillies to be involved in those conversations. We'll talk about
that a little bit later when we hear a little
bit more and it's official, But at this point in time,
it seems like it was a one where to get

(23:01):
Devers into San Francisco. But putting all that to the side,
this team currently constructed, you know, like that's the team
right there. When a team sweeps the Blue Jays, well
above five hundred at this point in time in a
really difficult division in the AL East, that's the team
right there this weekend. That could make some noise come September,
come October, and of course postseason. What's the difference. What

(23:24):
was your big takeaway from these three games against the
Blue Jays versus when they ended up losing, you know,
nine out of ten and five straight just last week.

Speaker 7 (23:33):
Yeah, I mean, it's the bats. It's it's as simple
as that.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
If this team hits, they're gonna win because their pitching
is great. If this team doesn't hit, they're gonna lose.
And and I know it's a silly answer, but it's
really the truth. They went up to Toronto, they didn't hit,
and they lost.

Speaker 7 (23:52):
They came back home six games home five and one
home stand.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
They went five to one because they hit the baseball.
The biggest thing about this Phillies lineup is five through
nine is.

Speaker 7 (24:03):
More important than one through four.

Speaker 6 (24:07):
You know what you're gonna get from Schwarber, you know
what you're gonna get from Trey.

Speaker 7 (24:12):
You know what you're gonna get when you have a
healthy Bryce.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
You know, in the range whether it's some crazy MVP
Brice or it's a two.

Speaker 7 (24:19):
Two seventy five to eighty average with an eight to.

Speaker 6 (24:21):
Fifty ops, right, you know the range that you're gonna
get out of those three guys. It comes down to
the last five guys in the lineup.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
You know.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
Are you getting the extra base hits from Boe? Are
you getting the extra base hits from Cassidy? Are you
getting a consistent Max Kepler? Are you getting a J
T Real Muto hitting the ball? What are you getting
from Martian Stock?

Speaker 3 (24:44):
Right?

Speaker 7 (24:44):
Like, the back half of this Phillies lineup.

Speaker 6 (24:47):
Is so important to them, and it truly is more
important than the front half of their lineup.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
And that's what they got.

Speaker 6 (24:57):
These guys after being on a really cold stre they
all got really hot. Max Kepler over the last week
is is steaming hot.

Speaker 7 (25:06):
He's real Muto.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
Rob Thompson has said for months that real Mutos struggles
was only for timing. Well, it seems like he's found
his timing because he's on a tear Alt Boone, It's
it's insane to say Alec Boone's been a top twenty
hitter in baseball since May first, and you and you
and you, you think it's crazy, but you go and

(25:30):
look at the stats and it's there. Brandon marsh since
he's come back, is is hitting over three hundred. They're
they're getting the consistent contributions again, and.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
That's what they need. They they just beat up on
the Blue Jays.

Speaker 6 (25:46):
Who you know, I don't know if this counts because
we only use this argument against us, But so for
for all the people that want to use that the
Phillies don't beat teams with a winning record thing. They
have the third best winning percentage in the National League
against teams over five hundred. So they're playing the schedule

(26:06):
in front of them, and all of a sudden, a
week ago when everybody wanted to trade everyone, Phillies are back.
And that that is mainly because of the offense and
just the unbelievable consistency from the starters. I asked Rob
Thomason the other night, like, what how leaving is it
to to at this point not even almost have to

(26:27):
worry about what starter you have going out that night,
because you come and look at you know, one night,
Oh it's jes Lusisardo who looked like he was gonna
win Cy Young through the first twelve games. Oh, then
it's Ranger Suarez. Oh, then it's Zach Wheeler. Then it's
Nick Abel who has a two three five e r Like.
It's just the starting pitching consistency that.

Speaker 7 (26:50):
They're getting right now is incredible.

Speaker 6 (26:52):
They're living and dying on the offense, which is a
really really.

Speaker 7 (26:55):
Hot offense right now.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
That's right. And uh, five out of our last six,
two against the Cubbies in that three game series, and
of course the sweep against the Blue Jays. And I
want to sit here and say, yeah, they should go
down to the Marlins and sweep. The Marlins have won
three straight, so they got a little something cooking right
now for them. But and also I don't want to
look ahead, but a monster, a monster of a series

(27:18):
coming our way on Friday when the Mets come to
down as Citizens Bank Park, sun sun will be shining.
It's gonna be a beautiful day down at the ballpark,
unlike this past weekend. Hey, winning cures all. That's all
I know. All right, anything for you on tonight's game
Alcatara on the Mound. Of course, they beat up on
him pretty good earlier this season, Mick Abel, what do

(27:38):
you want to see from him getting I think his
fourth start this season, for fourth professional start altogether. What
is your thoughts going into tonight's game where the Phillies
are slight favorites that might just won thirteen.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
Yeah, I'm gonna be honest, This line to me is
like incredibly disrespectful.

Speaker 7 (27:56):
I think minus what did you say?

Speaker 6 (27:58):
One fifteen thirteen Phillies going minus won thirteen for a
Phillies team that's thirteen games, about five hundred going down
to face Sandy alt Contreo as a seven and a
half the r A.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
I think minus one thirteen here is absurd.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
I don't even know if there's a point in taking
my swife where you can just get almost a flat
number at that point.

Speaker 7 (28:21):
But yeah, no, I mean this is a should be
a win for them tonight.

Speaker 6 (28:25):
I will say, looked better in his last two starts,
but at the same time he faced I believe the
Pirates and the Rockies correct, So you can take you
can take that with a grain of salt, I would say,
But yeah, I mean this is this is a pretty obvious.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
What yeah, the gods above or messing with your signal today? Luke.
Uh yeah, last time we had the Phillies in Marlin's
play where Sandy I say alcantara, he says al contro.
We'll put it in the middle. Whatever. We know who
he is. He's a damn good pitcher.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
He was.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Last time was April eighteenth, and he pitched two innings
in the Phillies beat him up pretty good where they
were able to get six earned runs across the plate
in that one, only one home run where they won
seven to two. Once he came back on April eighteenth. Oh,
by the way, those Rockies beat up the Braves yesterday
in Atlanta. We like to see that. All right, let's
end on this one, Luke, and we'll bring it home.

(29:29):
And of course the folks over crossing Broad habit. It
was something that was said to me in the parking
lot by a lovely couple that came to my I
needed some help on Saturday. My aid to get things
off the ground as far as the music is concerned,
to beef up front tailgate, My goodness morning that a
little bit later on just an absolute error by your

(29:52):
boy over here. But yeah, they were North penn alums
and they were listening to the game via some streams.
Somebody had it and they were like, the game was
called on a bock. In the thirteenth inning, bases were loaded,
and of course you got a young kid up there
who ended up just flinching. The videos are out there,

(30:13):
and I think it's pretty easy for me to say this.
If you are an umpire in that position, you have
to call it. You have to call it. A box
is a box. Your heart breaks. At the end of
the day, was bases loaded, nobody out, so chances of
North Pen not giving up a run with a very slim.
But it's one of those deals, man, where we all

(30:33):
complain everybody got some metal, everybody gets a trophy. And
those same people are in the comments going, you can't
call that, like we'll pick a side people, Yes you can.
It was a bock. It was a good call by
the umpires. It sucks the game ended that way. Whether
it's a state championship game, exhibition game, it doesn't matter.
A bock is a bock. It must be called.

Speaker 6 (30:55):
You. It is the funniest part about it for the
people that are saying you can't hauled it. I mean
it was quite literally one of the most obvious books
I've seen in a while, like he moved his whole
entire leg I mean, it's it's it's unfortunate. Like it's
it's extremely unfortunate. It's a horrible way to end a

(31:16):
thirteen in game.

Speaker 7 (31:18):
For the state championship.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
God, but man, it's it's the it's one of the
most obvious books I've ever seen.

Speaker 7 (31:27):
Anybody getting on the umpire is just an absolute lunatic.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
I mean, that was probably the easiest call he made
all game. Yeah, it's it's extremely unfortunate, it really is.

Speaker 7 (31:38):
And I feel for the the.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
North Penn team and and that kid on the mound
because and I'll say this, I really hope to God
that that kid wasn't a senior because that's a tough
way to go out.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
Yeah, you don't know, you don't know.

Speaker 7 (31:54):
But that is such an obvious book, unfortunately.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
And I saw Kevin's got an article over there at
CB so check that out. And of course North Penn
losing a six to a state championship game on a
back is a tough way to go. But got to
give a nod to the umpires on the right call there,
All right, Luke, great stuff, Man, We'll catch up a
little bit later this week. Big week for the Phillies,
of course, get the party started tonight against Tomorrowin's hopefully

(32:18):
with a victory. Keep some of that winning mojo going
right into the Big Mets series on Friday, getting started
where I will be in attendance Father's Day present from
my father in law, and we're getting together with all
the sun. It's gonna be good time. Good seats too.
The boys got me good seats, so I'm ready to go.
Luke you the best. We'll continue to read you at
crossingbroad dot com. I was a pleasure, sir. Thanks all.

(32:41):
My man there he is a little bit all over
the place. STT Sports Network checking in over under twenty
five your handicap at Oakmont with those conditions, dude, I shot.
You know, I'm hitting the ball better, I'm taking lessons,
changed my my my swing up all, you know, just

(33:03):
the path all together and nearly not going to the
driver range enough, which is unfortunate. So you go and
you're trying to work on a freaking change of a
swing on the golf course. Yet that's not gonna work out.
But on my best day, I'm shooting one ten one
of like on my best day at Oakmont one ten,

(33:29):
one o five. Like the greens, even if you hit
first of all the course and I'm not playing the tips,
it's just like, give me two hundred if I play
the tips, normal t box, when I play whatever. Even
if you hit the ball, you know, with the driver

(33:49):
of the two seventy five straight down the shoe perfect,
and then you give me my three wood and I'm
able to put it up there or you know, four iron,
whatever it may be, getting on the green. Now the
hole begins. Those greens are ridiculous. So if you're not
dialed in putting, you are going to four putt unless

(34:14):
you walk in with the frame of mind of going,
all right, that hole is ten feet instead of just
a normal cup, and I need to put it in that.
And even then it's difficult to make a ten foot
putt on those greens. They were glass, just undulation, like
you saw from the winning putt of JJ Spawn. Sure

(34:38):
he had to read because of avelin right in front
of him, but how about the fact of how wide
he had to take it? What was that ten feet
eight to ten feet to the side comes down that hill?
Was it a double breaker? Those greens are ridiculous. That
course is an insane and I loved every minute of

(34:58):
it that I know. People, you know, you get people
from both sides. People complain about everything. People like it.
For my money. One time a year where you get
a course as difficult that as the US Open should be. Now,
Bryson won at Pinehurst I think five six under whatever
it was last year, and it's a difficult course. Nobody's
saying Pinehurst is easy. But you get these guys in

(35:22):
there and they have to hit their eight plus shots
as Bryson did on eighteen, the fifty plus footer or
you know, fifty yards from the bunker right and he
drops it within whatever it was to that cup to win.
I think he was the only guy up and down
on that whole from that position to as well last year,

(35:42):
spawned to go birdie, birdie, like that's what it takes
to win those type of those type of majors. But man,
that course perfect. I just I love that stuff. And
unfortunately that the weather had to come in and be
a factor. Nobody wants that. The course is already difficult enough.
Now you're happy, like just the flood coming in and

(36:04):
it changed everything and Like I said, it was very
unfortunate to see a guy like Sam Burns deal with it.
He wasn't the only golfer. And I'll leave you on
this one. As I'm rambling about all things US Open,
I have to get it in now because Mark Henry Jr.
Doesn't talk golf. Mark he Very Junior is coming up
at four o'clock. Mark Henry Jr. Was just completely missing
from the text chain. Yesterday. He told us on air

(36:27):
that he muted the word golf. He is not a golfer.
We got to get Mark Henry Jr. To at least
top golf. Just swing a club one time for me. Mark,
we'll bring that up with him at four o'clock. To
each the throne, to each their throne. Now, nobody's taken
any shots. You don't have to like golf. Some people
don't like golf to play, but some people like to

(36:48):
watch it. I think it's fascinating from a gambling perspective, right,
So let me get this in now before he joins me,
because he has no idea and doesn't care to talk
about anything golf related. But as far as you know,
what we saw this weekend at the US Open. At
Oakmont and the struggles that they went through to even

(37:11):
be even par and of course dealing with those conditions.
Scotty Scheffler, the best player in the world the not
the captain of the Ryder Cup excuse me, that's Bradley,
but the number one player on the Rider Comfort representing
Team USA, was asked the question and I thought he
nailed it. Post round, he was asked, can you comment

(37:34):
on the weather to stoppage and starting any effect on
you at all? Scotty's answer two words, outdoor sport. There
it is, there, it is. It's an outdoor sport. Sometimes
you get the break, sometimes you don't. Stt Sports Now
appreciate the comment there, Keep them coming once again. We're
always living all things socials, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, all of

(37:57):
the platforms that you can stream livee at this point
in time, be sure to get involved with the conversation
live or right there and always listening to us on
the iHeartRadio app. Part a lot to get to from
the sports world. Didn't get an opportunity to get into
the Devers trade. There was a lot of people just
going absolutely bonkers on the timeline. Comparing this to Luca.

(38:20):
You know, I get it. It's fraction, it's in our mind.
And Deavors is a hell of a batter. Clayton Kershaw,
you don't take my word for it. I know Mark
every junior is gonna talk a little bit more because
he was really We talked about this Devers possibility of
being traded earlier, remember in spring training with the whole
Bregmann deal and whether or not he would move off

(38:41):
of third base. Just got the brand new contract, owed
a ton of money by the Red Sox. It is
there's like a couple of different conversations taking place. But
if you want to compare him to Luka Doncics, I
can't get there with you. Devas is a hell of
a ball player. He's a stud. He's also a two
seventy nine career average. He is one of the better

(39:04):
hitters in the game right now. But it's funny. Something
hit me. We go crazy if you talk about an
NBA player such as Terry's Halliburn, who's playing in the
NBA Finals game five tonight, if you call him a superstar,
and he's playing at a superstar level. But if you

(39:25):
call him a superstar, people go berserk. And I'm not
saying he is you can pick whatever player you want
in the NBA. I just think it's funny where people
go nuts if you say this player in the NBA
is a superstar, Yet Raphael Devers is a superstar a
Major League Baseball. He's a pretty damn good hitter. Defensively,

(39:48):
we know what he is. Has he ever won an MVP?
Where's he finished? As far as voting is concern over
the years, we can go over the other awards that
are out there. Curious, But people, I saw it on
my time, he's a superstar and that's all you got
in return. I'm like, Wow, that's funny because if you
say a player in the NBA is a superstar and

(40:10):
he's not named Lebron James or Kevin Durant or Sga
or Steph Curry or Jannie or Joker. If he's not
one of those six players I just mentioned, people lose
their minds. Raphael Devers is a superstar major League Baseball.
I don't know. I think we need to change our

(40:31):
terminology when we talk about Major League Baseball players, maybe
just a little bit. I think there needs to be
a little bit more with that term superstar. Then just
what takes place on the field to me, superstar on
the court. Yeah, these guys are all amazing, but the
accolades have to be there, and there has to be
a little bit more of a following. You know, people

(40:54):
like Steph Curry changed the game. Like Steph's a superstar?

Speaker 7 (40:57):
You know it?

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Rafield Devers is a superstar?

Speaker 6 (40:59):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Damn good?

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Enter?

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Come on people, anyways, that deal has a lot of
people losing their minds, rightfully. So if you want to
compare it to the Dallas trade as far as what
they got back and return, I can get there with
the and know, by the way, if you want to
talk about Devers and Luca Donches's defense, of course, very
comparable in that manner. But other than that, I mean,
come on, people, all right, let's keep it moving the
other side. NBA Finals, Game five, best of three. We

(41:24):
are rewarded right now. In the dull drums of summertime,
isn't today? Is Today't the first day of summer? Think
it is? Think it is?

Speaker 1 (41:33):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (41:34):
I thought it was Tuesday. No, it's not the first
day of summer. It's June twentieth, so we are four
days away. Excuse me, I'm sorry. Somebody at my gym today,
I work out some girlsly. Oh, it's first day of summer.
I thought she said it today. First, it's the week
of the first day. So anyways, Friday, June twentieth, first
day of summer. Could it stop raining in the summertime?

(41:55):
That'd be great. NBA Finals best of three, Stanley Cup
Finals best of three, two in Oklahoma City, two in Edmonton.
Will the home team win both championships? That's a question
we have to ask ourselves right here, right now. And
I hate to make it as simple as that, but man,

(42:17):
you mean to tell me, at this point in time
of the season, home court, home ice doesn't have a
significant meaning more so than ever right here, right now,
really tough. We'll go over to numbers. We'll talk about
Bolt series, but more of a focus on the NBA
Finals Game five tipping this evening, and watch out, the

(42:37):
NBA is coming for those ratings. Just put Caitlin Clark
on the sideline and Taylor Swift in the box. Oh
you gotta do. I guess these days. Nine and a
half point spread two twenty four and a half is
your total in that one. Nine and a half is
a very high number, but not as high as it's
been in this series. They're going back to Game two.
I think was eleven point spread for Oklahoma City favorite

(43:00):
in that one. But here we are ok See nine
and a half point favorites tonight. Not so much do
or die, but man, the Pacers let one go in
Game four due to the fact that the MVP performed
like an MVP in the fourth quarter. A lot of
NBA Finals discussion coming your way, Mark Herett Junior will
be joining me at four five to Daily Ticket on Monday.

(43:20):
More of this.

Speaker 1 (43:21):
Spring is in the air and it's time to swing
for the fences. All MLB coverage is bringing heat all
season long.

Speaker 7 (43:29):
Everybody moves up ninety p.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
Be sure to catch Luke Arcaney and Sean Brace on
the Daily Ticket. Only one place that covers all the action.
It's the Gambler.
