Speaker 1 (00:00):
Number one on your car radio preset hand and new
and improved. Iheard radio w D A y S and
w D two seven three D Philadelpia is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
The Gambler Sasaki, sets and fires, soft Planter.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
The short bets is there.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
The Dodgers are going to the National League Division Series.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
The Dodgers are.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Going to Philadelphia as they move on in.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Their quests, are running back in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
We now know who the Philadelphia Phillies will be facing
off against, as if we didn't know heading in to
postseason play that the Big Bad LA Dodgers would be
representing in the NLDS opposing the Philadelphia Phillies, who, oh,
(01:41):
by the way, have the best odds to win the
World Series.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Sam Austree, not anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Who have been the best team for my money in
the month of September, and I guess August as well.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
But now all of a sudden, you're.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Telling me that the Big Bad LA Dodgers, who don't
have whole field in this series versus the Phillies are
supposed to get it done. Not buying it, Sam, not
buying it at all. Bring on the Dodgers Game one show, Hey,
(02:23):
old Tony, who's been pitching really well. He has been
pitching really well, especially his last four starts. Take a
look at those numbers. There's toy Center strikeouts, one run,
four walks. Gay, he's been a lecture putting that to
the side. I like the Phillies and I like the
fact that you have people out there doubting them, saying.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
That the Dodgers are to play here. I love it.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Let's go, and part of it is because of what
they showed against the Reds. Let's not forget it. The
Red's an eighty three win team. I believe since the
Wildcard ever began, the second fewest wins uh to get
into the Wildcard spot an all full Reds team. So
I don't care what the Dodgers did to the Reds.
This is the World Series in the divisional round. Yeah,
(03:07):
And that's what's happening this weekend starting at Citizens Bank Park.
One of these two teams is gonna win the World
Series and that they have to play for the division
round based on how it all went down AL, there's
no team in the AL.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
I'm worried about the other side of the NL, not
worried about.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
This is going to be the series of the year
between two great teams, the defending champs, the team that
was favored. Oh, you're coming in, and then somehow the
Dodgers left them. Now because of what they showed against
the Reds, this is gonna be the best series of
the year.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah, it is so unfortunate for some some out there.
I am not in that category. I am more so
on the side of bring on the best. Oh who
cares if you play come in the NLCS or DS.
He got anything short than a World Series. This series
a disappointment for the fil no doubt. So what does
it matter when you play the Dodgers, Well you disagree, Well,
(03:59):
I think there is some argument. There's room for argument
on the other side, right because I don't know. Again,
Oh no, you have to beat who's in front of you.
So just because.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
If the Dodgers lose in the NLDS, you might not
have to face them and you have an easier path
to the World Series.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
That's the only reason I didn't even think about it.
But yes, that's the reason I was gonna say.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
If Phillies have been on this journey, this is the
fourth year now and during the postseason of postseason baseball.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
For this team, you gotta beat the best to be
the best.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
And I want to see the Phillies actually go through
the toughest pass path possible to eventually win a World
Series that they feel like they've been knocking on the door.
And of course, the Dodgers won it last year, the
Dodgers with just an absurd payroll, the favorites coming into
this year. You gotta see the Phillies beat them. So
I don't care when we play the Dodgers. We're gonna
play them eventually at some point. We've known that for
(04:49):
months now, and I don't care when it is. Bring
it on in the NLDS.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Bring it on in the NLDS. No, you're right, I
think you just nailed it there with that point. As
far as hey, look, could have slipped up versus the
other team and fell short of the NLCS.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
That's always a possibility.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
But I do believe that there is definitely some sort
of possibility of a letdown, Like you get so amped
up and you give everything you got to go up.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Against this team.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
It's postseason baseball, though, so as I'm saying it, I'm like, eh,
I'm not really buying it, but I think there has
to be even removing what you just said, because I
think that needs to be number one by itself, number
one answer on the board. I do think there could
be room for the argument on the other side, like,
you know what, if you're gonna face them, it's better
to do so in the NLCS than in the NLD.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
I mean, nothing's guaranteed in postseason baseball.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
We we saw the Phillies in twenty twenty three, once
they got by the Braves and we're in the NLCS
against the Diamondbacks. We thought that series, no chance the
Phillis could lose that they of course they're up three
to two. Yeah, coming back home with two home games,
no chance the Phillies are losing the series. They're all
walk into the World Series. And of course Diamondbacks, we
are a worst club at the time than them, come
back and win that series and win the nl pennant.
(06:02):
So anything can happened in postiason baseball. It's not like
just because the Phillies beat the Dodgers, they're guaranteed to
anything in this sport. But you got to feel really
good if they can get past the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
What about five versus seven as far as seven game series,
do you think that plays into it at all?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Do you think that there's an advantage in that game.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
I like the home format better for five games when
you have the it's two to two to one, So
you can have those first two games at home, and
then if you have to come back for a game five,
you have that game five at home, and you have
extra travel days of rest in between there.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
So I like that format.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
The only negative that I really see in playing this
team in the NLDS is I don't like the rest
that the Phillies have had the last week. And we've
seen time and time again teams that get that by
look pretty good. Yesterday in a scrimmage interro squad scrimmage,
Powder Blues get the dub. But again it doesn't like
we've seen teams who are those top two seeds falter
(06:58):
in the NLD the divisional round because they don't play
baseball for a week. And those teams, other teams in
the Wildcard, like the Dodgers, just had two games where
to I don't call it get right games, but two
games where they dominate and they feel pretty good, feeling
pretty confident coming into the Citizens Bank Park. Even when
the Phillies made those runs as a wildcard team, they
upset teams in the divisional round, and you could say
(07:20):
an argument was because they had those wildcard series and
those those games, and those series give you confidence. So
I don't love how that they don't play baseball for
a week and then they have to play.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Well, the Dodgers just had two games last two days. Yep.
But it's the nature of the sport, it's the nature
of the playoff bracket.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
So you got to just figure out a way to
get to get not not be rusty, and get it done.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yeah, I'm with you there. Game one.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Hey, look, we're gonna do a deep dive on all
things Phillies and Dodgers when Luke Arcaney joins the program
coming up in the five o'clock hour, we will talk
all things show. Hey, o Tani, who's been electric, the
possibility that he could be on an innings count, pitch count,
I don't think that that would be the case. However,
they are handling him a little bit differently as they should,
and he has just been incredible these last four starts.
(08:04):
So we'll get into a little bit of that conversation
also talking about the importance of the home field advantage.
All right, there are very few places that I would
sit here and pound my chest over being a difference.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Know if Ann's butts about it, it's a different setting.
And for my money right now, number one at the
top of that list, Citizens Bank Park again, Arizon Diamondbacks
came in.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
It won you the same thing last year. It doesn't
really matter. It doesn't matter. It's awesome being there, it's electric.
It doesn't matter if the Diamondbacks did it and the
Mets did it last year.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
We can just be honest.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Home field and then having home field advantage isn't as
important as everyone likes to make it big.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
That's what the numbers. We can make a difference, don't
listen to Sam Oustree. We can make it. It will
be awesome and it'll be electric. Don't get me wrong.
I don't think it's really gonna have that much of
a factor on the game.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Well, unfortunately, you have history on your side for that argument,
so I'm not going to waste much time on that.
All right, let's do this though, ladies and gentlemen, boys
and girls.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Oh what's that music. We're back. What's that music? We're back?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Oh? We got place playoff baseball three elimination games for
the first time, happening a one day in postseason and history.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
It's ever, It's never happened before. We're gonna put that
to side.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
We got Thursday night football, good NFC West battle between
the Rams.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
And the beat up forty nine. No, we're gonna put
that to the side.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
College football, Florida State putting that to the side.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Eagles and brought.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
No, let's talk sixes and knicks from Abu Dhabi, Sam Austrie.
Let's just keep them out there. Honestly, just keep that
franchise out there. Has has has Josh Harris answered the uh.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
The Epstein call yet, not that I've heard alleged alleged
alleged alleged all right, don't want to get I'm saying,
but it was out there on the time it was,
it was all right.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
I don't know. It's why you need to step to.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
A microphone and you say there's a wrong Josh Harris altogether.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
I mean, would have shocked anybody.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
I think it's probably the best PR strategy is to
kind of let it simmer and hope that the real
stuff doesn't come out, and then it won't and then
people will just forget about.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
That's the strategy for this country as a whole, right now,
that's hand people with short term memories. There you go,
exactly all right. Anyways, though, could you give us an update?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Give us third?
Speaker 3 (10:32):
The Sixers lost their season opening preseason game to the
Knicks in Abu Dabi ninety nine to eighty four. Of course,
Paul George and Joel and B didn't play. Those guys
are both deal with an injury. Quentin Grimes because of
the contract situation, even though it got resolved yesterday, he
didn't travel with the team to Abu Dhabi, so he
wasn't there. So it was a lot of backups playing
a ton of minutes, and of course his preseason basketball anyway.
(10:53):
But the Nick shot three of thirty five from three.
That's eight percent. They were out rebounded fifty eight to
forty six.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Wait wait, wait, it's a timeout twenty second. Three of
thirty five from three. Sixers shot thirty five to three.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Pointers correct and may three correct, that's eight per So
for those who don't want to do the math at home,
stats Curtissey are a good friend. Sean Bernard VC edgecumb
played pretty well though. He looked really good and burst.
His three ball looked honestly better and he looked more
(11:27):
comfortable shooting it, which was a question mark coming out
of the draft.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
He looked pretty good.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
That's probably the only positive you can take away. But again,
it's preseason basketball. We're not going to make too much
of a deal about it. But they'll be back on
Saturday and I'll bed at eleven a m.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Could you give me?
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Could you give me the cliff eight point could you
give me the cliff notes?
Speaker 2 (11:44):
On Quinton Grimes.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Yeah, so he's going to be here this season on
a qualifying offer. He had to opt in or they
came to a deal for that eight point six million
dollar qualifying offer. But he also has a no trade
clause there, so now the Sixers can't trade as an asset.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
And they were really far apart on.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
Those negotiations where he believed he was worth somewhere between
twenty five to thirty million a year and one in
a long term deal, while the Sixers were offering him
a four year deal worth around ten million, So they
were really far apart on those negotiations, So there's really
nothing that was gonna happen this close to the season
other than him accepting the qualifying offer the Sixers. One
of the no wave trial no wave clause waved. Excuse me,
(12:24):
the no trade clause waved because they could use him
as an asset, but he's obviously can't be trade this
season because he has that in his contract. So that's
a tough situation for the Sixers, who they're probably gonna
lose him anyway.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
After next for agency when he's going to command a
bigger deal.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
But it's also tough for him because he's now in
a backcourt with Tyres Maxi vg Edgecomb. When Jared mccambe
comes back, he's not going to have the dominant performances
that he had late in last season where he believed
that he really increased his value. So it's really tricky
situation for the Sixers and him, worst case scenario for
all involved, but you're in this close to the season,
it was really the only reasonable resolution, So it's it's tough.
(13:01):
We'll see how it plays out, but he probably won't
be a Sixer next year.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
So literally there are I think two players in the
NBA that have no trade clauses Quenton Grimes and Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Bradley Badly Bills correct, Yeah, yeah, because.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
He the only if that is correct. That's hysterical. Put
that on a T shirt, Quentin Grimes. There's only two
players in the NBA currently that have no trade clauses,
Lebron James and Quentin bleeping Grimes.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
And Damian Lillard. Really back to Portland. That's pretty funny.
All right?
Speaker 1 (13:34):
So that add the three? All right, there you go.
Quinton Grimes nice work. Is his agent playing this right?
Do you think he's going to end up fetching some
good money next year? Do you think this raises his
level of play? That we should start looking at Quinton
Grimes in a different light.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
The problem is, what I just explained is that he's
not gonna have the opportunities with all that crowd, with
the crowd in the in the back court, He's not
gonna play himself into a twenty five million dollars a
year player.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
There's just no opportunity for that.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
He could have a really good season and increase his value,
for sure, but I don't think they. I don't know
why and what world he believed he was worth twenty
five to thirty million dollars because there's not a lot
of teams with cap space, and so that's not gonna
be There's there was nothing happening for him this summer.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Next summer, there's gonna be more teams with cap space.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
But are they really going to want to spend twenty
to twenty five million on Quentin Grimes. We'll see what
he does this year. I don't think I don't think
it's gonna pay off for him at all. The bet
that he's making himself large part because of the situation
he's playing in with the Sixers this year.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
All right, Major League Baseball, Off and running here, Game one,
getting the party started between the car the Guardians and
the Tigers.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
We had a show wager. You rode with me on
that we took the Tigers to win this game on
me live it. Let me live it. I can tell
you forget if you can.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Get a live action A plus one.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Here we are, they got runners on first space.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Here.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Here's where I was at when it comes to two
things with this series, As I said, postseason baseball, first
time in Major League Baseball history, we have three elimination
games going down today.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
That's pretty cool. Nice work by the power that be.
I want to say this much though they dropped the ball.
They dropped the ball.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
With the the timing of this series. And now I understand, like,
let me just put this out there, point blank. Money
controls all Yankees and Red Sox understood. But how unfair
is it to the city of Cleveland, to the fans
of the Guardians that you play three straight day playoff games?
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Like, right, that's number one?
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Oh, by the Wais got more of a crowd at
their intra squad scrimmage than the Guardians got at their
actual This is pack not based on the attendant numbers,
was like twenty nine thousand.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
The Phillies got thirty thousand sellars. All right, well the
game three here is packed. Okay, alright, that was game
I guess I'm.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Not trying to flex here, but Cleveland, come on, Cleveland
comes up, blue collar? You think those guys can take
off time from their job in Cleveland, not like you know,
I don't.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Know, maybe I'm out of it.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Everybody's got money, right, there's people to have plenty of
money up and scraned it. But blow your mind, right,
I always thought everybody's pour up and screant where I
come from.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Not the case.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
A lot of people have money. I'm sure there's plenty
of people to have money in Cleveland. My bigger point
is this, they won the division. The Yankees did not
win the division. The Red Sox did not win the division.
How are you telling me that the wildcard matchup takes precedent?
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Well, it's a business. You can't throw one game, so
it's a business.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
They should just overlap the games, right like have you
can have a game start at seven and one also
started eight, and just overlap the games. That's what I
would do. But if you're gonna decide what's gonna take
the night game or the day game between the Guardians
and the Tigers or the Red Sox and the Yankees,
you going Red Sox the Yankees every single time.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
I don't care who won what? All right, who we're talking?
It's a business.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
You can't flip it one time though. They can't throw
me a bone. I've been locked on Red Sox Yankees.
And I don't watch a lot of baseball other than
the Phillies, but I've been locked on Red Sox Yankees.
That series has been everything from a drama's perspective and
the rivalry aspect of it. It's been awesome. So that
game's always staying night. There's no chance. I know you're flipping.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
I know, I get it. Money controls all. I understand it.
But I just think there's a little it's a little
bit unfair, that's all. And you know what, at the
end of the day, I think it would be pretty
cool to see the Socks and Yankees in a day game.
I think the same amount of people to a point
would be tuning in Yankees in the Socks in a
day game. Just throw them a bone one time they
(17:20):
won the division regardless. Moving on, we are, yeah, we are.
You're telling me we are moving on. We are on
the Tigers as a show here. As far as the
other two games, Padres and Cubs, uh and and the
Socks and Yankees. Just to let you know we're going
to head to head on that one. I have the Yankees.
Yankees are my world Series. I got the Phillies and
Yankees in the World pre playoffs, a preseason, the pre playoffs,
(17:42):
I took the heads of matchup and if he would
have asked me, I was the favorite right, No, it
wasn't the favorite.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
It was who is the Blue Jayson? So I am looking. Oh.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
I was very lucky that they ended up winning that game.
But I was when we were talking about Game one
between the Yankees and the Red Sox and Garrett Crochet
was on the mountain and he's magnificent. He could very
well win the cy young He's not going to schools
going to get it, but the Crochet's numbers are incredible.
I when when Jazz Chisholm wasn't in the lineup, I like,
(18:17):
I squirmed, and I'm not one of these guys Sam
that like takes the microphone and says, like, you know,
the manager's an idiot, doesn't know what he's doing, like
blab blah blah blah, Like I don't do that. That's
not what I do. I'd like to keep it moving,
have fun. That's the decision in front of you. I
would have went a different way. And I'm not trying
to make Jash Chisholm into Chase Sutley, but what he
(18:38):
is is a spark plug and what he can bring
to the table is exactly what happened yesterday last night
where he was zero for three and then he gets
on bass and then he makes that happen, and it's
just you just don't know with that guy in the
lineup what he's capable of.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Pretty good Glove made a great play up the middle.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Like I hated that call that he was not in
the game one lineup, Just start versus the Red Sox,
like Jazz Chisholm is made for this moment, made for
the playoffs. Give him the opportunity, Lefty, righty, I don't care.
Guys like that need the opportunity and just stay out
of the way. I thought Boom made a terrible decision
on that.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
And then if you saw how bad that decision was
based on yesterday's result and that, like you said, he
was a spark plug.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Let me ask you a question.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
How would you handle your frustrations between these three scenarios. Okay,
post game, you're pissed you were in the lineup. You
turn your back to reporters and you don't answer questions. Yep,
you're pissed. You don't start as a quarterback. You go
the meme approach and you just don't speak at your
press conference and then just mouth words yep or number three,
your piss, you're not touching the ball enough even though
your team is four. And oh and you post about
(19:43):
how you're going to shrug your shoulders and you want
out of here on social media. If you're frustrated as
an athlete, how are you handling those three scenarios?
Speaker 2 (19:50):
I'm not doing what A did.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Ride receivers are crazy, they're out of their minds. Not
a diva, You're right, You're right. Davante is not a diva.
But majority of them are just nuts. They're just all
the ball crazy. It's just look, Aj deserves a lot
of credit for what he did yesterday. And I'm not
gonna play the sound bites. If you didn't hear him,
go listen to the whole thing. He squared up, he
(20:14):
owned it, and he said he.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Was wrong point blank in this story. And that's all right.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
We make mistakes, especially in the world of what he
is and what he's capable of and what he did
on the.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Field that day. So I get his frustrations.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
I'm there, but I was so upset at the fact that,
like he's been here for such a long time now,
multiple Super Bowl runs, one championship, and like, what we're
really after like, we're not, you know, like we're not
at the Baltimore Ravens, Like who hoped to be there?
Speaker 3 (20:46):
It has changed, we expect to be there. Where was
the book inter Excellence after the game? Yes, that was
one of the biggest lies that everyone just like believed
and ran with those stories. Ever told that Aj Brown
just reads Inner Excellence every single game on the sideline.
That's what he said, and that's what everyone like ran
with as a story in their in their stories. He's
never read that book other than that one game, and
(21:07):
it was to call it was to bring intention to
himself on the sideline. No one's ever seen him reading
a book on the sideline any other time except that
one game. But he just told everyone he always does
it so he will happen to believe. Do you think
it's a it was to bring intention to himself.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
I know, but hang on, hang on, I'm talking about
aj Brown from my money is an introspective type of dude.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
Yeah, he's a smart guy. Okay, I'm smart. That's fine.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
I would imagine a lot of those guys are smart, right,
A lot of college educations. I know they play a
gladiator sport, but still a lot of a lot of
dudes are tell a lot smarter than I am. But
I just look at AJ in a different manner. I
do believe there's something real underneath the surface. Then you know,
the loudmouth to evil wide receiver that we're used to.
(21:49):
I do think that he understands what everything is and
he's a smart dude off the field. But you with
the book itself, I didn't really buy into it, but
you're right he did. He Oh, I'd been reading it
all the time, and that's the first everyone.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Just bought that lot.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
What a ridiculous line, and then and then bought the
book went to number one, and the number one good.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
For that of author Jim Murphy.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Here's what people forget though about AJ's that he did
this same thing last season.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
The Eagles were on a nine game winning struck.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
I remember after I believe it was the Panthers they
played early December, December ninth.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
I think that game was they A J. Brown only, Yeah,
they did almost beat him, but A J.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Brown only had four catches for forty something yards and
he didn't have his best game. But Eagles had won
nine straight games, and he was asked the problem with
the with the offense, and he said passing straight up,
and he allude to the fact that his frustrating was
because the passing game wasn't good and it was kind
of shot at John Hurts.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Brandon Graham comes over the top.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
The next day on his radio show, Yes, comments about
Jion Hurts and A J.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Brown's relationship and it's not that strong. He used to
clear that up.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
A J.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Brown and John Hurts get in front of the team,
have to dap each other up and hug each other
out in front of the team. Guess we all forget
about that's ancient history now because he was on the
Super Bowl. Yeah, so I'm not that concerned about it.
It's just we've been down this AJ Brown path before
and we'll go down and again.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
It's the nature of being in the AJ Brown business. Fair.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
I also want to bring this to the table and
this I was gonna bring it up later, but I
also have this, like, twenty twenty three wasn't that long?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Agough Right, No, okay, last time I checked. It's you know,
last year was last year? Great?
Speaker 1 (23:25):
The year before, as hit the fan. Yeah, and they
were ten and one. Yeah, this team is four and
oh and they have looked great at times, but they
have some real big flaws. They have some issues that
they need to figure out. I'm not gonna sit here
and say that they'll go off losing six or seven.
I'm not gonna sit there and say that at all.
(23:45):
They continue to find ways to win, so I'll shut
up until they do lose. But it's not gonna shock
me if teams eventually come out on top and they
they they lose a three point game at home to
the Denver Broncos, or they lose a tough game to
the Giants on the road.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
Like, it's not going to shock me. It won't. And
that's a common sentiment.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
There's this collective PTSD in this city from twenty three,
but there's a lot of differences.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Excuse me my throat here. I haven't heard anybody bring
up twenty three and three.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Really, No, I see all these people just being and
maybe they don't bring it up directly, but they have
these concerns of a four and oh team because of
what happened in twenty twenty three and one team not really,
And there's a bunch of reasons. Number one is those
concerns were happening midway through the year in November and
then December, and then they obviously spoiled over into January.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
This is the first month of the season.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
Being four and oh and having all these problems is
better than we were last year being two and two
and having all these problems and still trying to figure
out out your identity. The second reason is the coordinator
situation was a disaster in twenty twenty three. Obviously Matt
Patricia had to go, and then whoever he was before him,
I came and think of him. Brian Johnson was the OC.
(24:55):
It was disastrous all around. Big Fangio was one of
the best coordinator in the league. The Steve has been
playing well. I trust Kevin Petula and how much Nick
Sirianni has grown as a coach and as an offensive mind.
So that's a massive difference. And the other one is
this passing game has shown flashes of what it can be.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
We know what it can be.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
The second first half against the Bucks, second half against
the Rams, they put halfs together where this passing offense
looks incredible and unstoppable, right, So it's not like they
haven't shown it. It's just consistency and doing it throughout
an entire game. Now, there are real concerns about this
offentsive line in the running game. That's a whole nother
separate conversation. But that's more about injuries than anything. But
I'm not I don't think there's all these underlying issues
(25:36):
that are boiling underneath that are going to spill over
into some big collapse like we saw in twenty twenty three.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Interesting.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
All right, get involved in the conversation at Fox phl GAM,
we're streaming in all things socials. I'll put this damn
radio show up against anybody, anybody out there coast to coast.
Kyle Fisher, you'll be joining us coming up at four five.
It's the nature of being in the AJ Brown business.
That's what you said. Thanks quote there put that on
a shit. He also said the question for the Eagles
(26:02):
is do they figure it out like last season or
do they never figure it out and fall apart like
the year before. I definitely would not subscribe to the latter.
I am all about this team figuring it out. They're
four and oh point blank. We're doing the pregame show
plug at nine am Green Leason Radio Live from Stateside
Live on Sunday, and I am coming up with the
(26:23):
run of show. I am not starting the show off.
I didn't do it the last time. This is show
number two for us with something negative. I'm not This
team is four and oh, this team has won twenty
out of the last twenty one. They're the ragning super
Bowl champions. I am not opening him up in that
first segment with anything negative. The second segment, we're gonna
debate AJ Brown. We're gonna talk a little bit more
about the passing game. But like, that's where I'm at mentally.
(26:46):
I think that this team is too damn good not
to figure it out. Oh, by the way, Nick Sirianni
stopped doubting him. Of course, mcfangio and Batulo, you gotta
give him an opportunity to get it going. This is
the first quarter of the regular seas. They're not going
to look like they did against the Commanders right now.
They're not going to look like they did in last
year's Super Bowl against the Chiefs right now.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Allow this season to play out.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
And to answer Kyle's question that there's a middle ground
between those two scenarios that for some reason, because of
how last two seasons's going, we don't seem to accept as.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
A fan base. But it's probably the direction we're headed where.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
It's not just you're gonna figure it out and become
the best team in the league and dominate on your
way to super Bowl. And it's not that you're just
gonna collapse and lose six out of seven and all
hell is breaking loose. Yep, it's probably gonna be somewhere
in the middle whether his team is a really good
team but maybe not good enough to actually win the
entire thing or make the super Bowl because of whether
it's the dephinsive line injury issues and the running game
(27:42):
never gets going or whatever the issues are.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
That's probably where we're headed.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
But that's the more reasonable rational answer to Oh, we're
gonna figure out when the entire super Bowl, oh twenty
twenty three collapses coming. This team is gonna lose six
straight games. So I think everyone should accept that as
a fan base. We've been really spoiled about how much
we've been winning recently, Yeah, and we just expect that
that's normal, but it's not. It's not normal to win
(28:07):
eighteen straight games or your starting quarterback. That's unprecedent.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
You're absolutely right, speaking of in my previous pregame show,
I said, give me one word that describes that winning
streak in nineteen out of twenty or whatever it was
at that point in time. I know it's twenty twenty one,
and like everybody was just like blown away, you know,
just like it was a great conversation.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Was the word of the day? Bird is the word?
All right?
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Coming up on the other side, Julian Edla's gonna join
us from a DraftKings network. We are scoreless right now
between the Guardians and the Tigers.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Win or go home. That's it, man, you have to
win to advance. Who you got.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
We're rolling with the Detroit Tigers, the Padres and Cubs.
Flip a coin. I think the Coubbies will get the
job done. I like a low scoring game there, and
give me the Yankees all day long. We'll come up
on either side. I have a question for Julian to
get this conversation going with him, We're gonna talk a
little baseball. Of course, the Dodgers are favorite in the series.
The Phillies are favored in Game one. The Phillies have
(29:05):
home field advantage. Why are the Dodgers favored in the series.
I'm scratching my head at that. Julian has the answer,
he's gonna give it to us. On the other side,
there's a couple things that go into this conversation. From
the oddsmaker's point of view, he has that. From the
folks over at DraftKings, he's gonna join us. Of course,
we're talking some Eagles and Broncals. We're talking all things
Thursday night football. We'll eve a mix in a little
(29:27):
college football, Florida State and Miami.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
It's the daily Ticket. Do not go any more than this.
