Number one on your car radio preset hand the new
and improved Iheard Radio w D A S and w
D two seven. Bring deep, Philadelpia.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
The Gambler.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Parker's pitch swung on hit.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
In the air, deep left, the lyle going back, look
it up, Hits, go into the bullpen and welcome back
Alec Ball.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
With a three roun the hold run to open it up.
Here in the second look two swinging a high fly ball.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Well hit, that one is on its way and it
is gone over the bullpen. Castianos with a tremendous drive
to left. He'll tack on a run for the Phills,
his sixteenth of the year.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
And it's nine to six Phillies.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Oh, Nick Castianos, come on down, Alan Boone, we missed
the Aaron Nola. How you been Phillies win final score
eleven to nine yesterday, Yeah, Aaronle Aaron Nola. Yeah, he
struggled just a little bit from his return from the
i L. Phills did blow that six run lead, as
you heard. Bats came alive though.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
We like that.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
And this team improved. The seventy one and fifty three
on the season. A lot to like right, got the
Seattle Mariners that come into town, right, Nothing big happening
with the Phillies right now. Everything is just cool, Colm,
Get me to October, right.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Luke, Oh no, no.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
What in the hell happened this weekend?

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Let me just back it up and take it to
Friday night with with Doran?

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Duran Doron?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Where do you want me to start?

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Right?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
That was insane in its own right, And we'll have
fun with that a little bit later because my man
needs to go play soccer. Getting carted off and like, yeah,
I get it could have been a broan bruise, understood,
but you know, I mean I thought for sure that
he was done for the year, broken bone, whatever, Everything's good.
He comes back walking around the next day. One feels fine,

(02:43):
We're smiles, we can make fun of it and move
on with our day. And then all of a sudden,
the Zach Wheeler news comes down and I'm literally asking
friends of mine, I'm like, am I being punked? Are
you guys seeing this Zach Wheeler? It's gonna be done.
It's good blood clot And I know everybody's trying to
paint this rosy picture right now, and I hope I

(03:04):
hope you're right.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
I hope he's not done.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
But I don't think anybody of merit is out there
saying that, yeah, you know what, a couple of weeks
he is going to.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
Clear that up.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
He'll be back out there pitching in no time. That
is not what I'm reading. So unfortunately, again people want
to have an issue with you getting on the timeline
and making it. We're just having a conversation here what
could be potentially the outcome of a blood clot in
his shoulder, and Zach Wheeler's season could very well be done.

(03:35):
And if you had to ask me right now, if
that's the way I feel, I do believe Zach Wheeler
will be done for the rest of the season. And
that is horrible because if you listen to this show,
the first thing I've said all along is I get
the bats, and we get the PTSD from last year.
But as long as you're rolling Wheeler and Sanchez out
there one two, they can take games one and two
in every series, no matter the opponent, including the World Series.

(03:58):
And now Zach Wheeler is going to be done. What
what am I missing there?

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Luke? If you could fill in the blanks on that.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
One, no, I mean you hit it pretty head on.
So yeah, obviously the news comes out on Saturday. It
was funny. I was, I was. I was down the shore.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
We had a big golf tournament this weekend and we
were all out in like the lagoon behind the house
we were staying at and my and my older brother
comes up to me and he goes, Zach Wheeler went
to the il and I was like, all right, you know,
figured it was just you know, ten fifteen days with
some shoulder stiffness, like we all assumed maybe it was
gonna happen eventually. And he goes, no, he has a

(04:38):
blood clot and I went, oh, And I.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Think that was kind of everybody's reaction.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
Yeah, it's it's it's I would say, gut wrenching.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, to put it in the best term there. So
weh a little left Washington yesterday. They ran some tests today.
I'm a shoe word will be out, you know, at least.
I don't think they're gonna have all of the answers just.

Speaker 6 (05:05):
Yet, but I'm assuming, you know, some sort of update
will come out either today or tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
But yeah, I mean it's just it's just gut wrenching man,
because you go down, you know, the sort of starting
to get down these dark paths when you hear about
injuries like.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
This, right, and you sit there and you're like, oh, well,
Wheeler might not pitch again this year.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
And and then you see.

Speaker 6 (05:30):
Some doctors, you know, some some guys that know what
they're talking about, come out and say, if the severity
of this is high, then you know it can be
more than just one season.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
And then you think about how.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
Wheeler wants to retire at the end of the twenty
twenty seventh season, and like, it's really really a shame
because the Phillies had a really, really good chance to
win the World Series. And it's not like they don't anymore, right,
Like I understand it. They're they're chances take a hit,
a major hit if that if.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
If Zach Wheeler can't pitch the rest of the season.

Speaker 6 (06:06):
But you know, this puts a lot of pressure on
everybody else. I think Christopher Sanchez has what it takes
to be an ace, a number one on a team,
but now he has to do it. You know, the
Aaron Nola you saw yesterday can't be the Aaron Nola
that you get the rest of the season. Granted, I'm
having a little bit of a hard time just completely

(06:26):
writing him off, considering that was the first.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Game he pitched in three months in the pros.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
I think you have to see just maybe one or
two more and if those continue to go like that,
then yeah, I think he may be in trouble.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
You have to get the.

Speaker 6 (06:40):
First half Ranger Suarez back now, Jesus Zardo has to
be the guy that he was in the first half.
Taiwan Walker has to continue to pitch how he's been
over the last month, month and a half.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
But you know this, it stinks.

Speaker 6 (06:54):
It's it's a very unfortunate situation, and I think you
could just kind of see it in.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
The Phillies on Saturday.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
I think that was just a punch in the gut
to the entire clubhouse.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
They went out, they looked like they didn't want to
be there on Saturday. It was a really.

Speaker 6 (07:13):
Ugly quick game right after they heard about the Wheeler news,
And you know, you just hope first of all, that
Zach Wheeler the person is okay, because Zach Wheeler the
person is more important than Zach Wheeler the Philly Once
they figure out everything with whatever's.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Going on, in his shoulder.

Speaker 6 (07:31):
Hopefully they get that figured out for the sake of
his health, but you know, for the sake of the baseball.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Team as well. It's it's arguably one of the biggest blows.

Speaker 6 (07:41):
They could have possibly had to their team with just
a month and a half left.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
In the regular site, no doubt about that.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
The odds not really too much of a movement, still
hold and steady second in line as far as odds
on favorite twin the National League of plus three fifty
Dodger's still at plus two ten to win it all. Currently,
the Phillies are still second in the running as far
as odds on fail plus six fifty Dodgers plus three
sixty brew Crew. Still some really good value there on
the Brewers at eight to one.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
Again.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yeah, like, I have to be fully honest with what
I've been saying, and I can't change my tune now,
Like I would sit here and tell you that this
rivals a Schwarber injury, Like if Schwarber was hurt, then
maybe I would be singing a different tune. But even
without Harper or without Boem or without JT. Whatever, I

(08:27):
still feel like that this team still should be in
the conversation for World Series champion. A lot can be played,
can change over these next few weeks. I could change
my opinion absolutely if the Bats start all of a sudden,
you know, getting the CPR done to them the last
week of September, and they look like they did yesterday,
throwing up eleven runs, albeit against the Nationals. Yeah, okay,

(08:49):
and they start doing that for a few weeks. But
right here, right now, losing Wheeler is about as a
worse injury as you could possibly have. I would say
Schwarber and Wheeler on that same page. But man, and
like I said, all of this past fews, this whole summer,
it's been based around one and two one two, any
one of those series Wheeler and Sanchez can win those

(09:11):
two games. Now you're of two games to none, regardless
of what your Bats do, and if they're gonna be
without Wheeler, that is a just a just such a blow.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
I couldn't. I honestly didn't even think it was real.
I didn't think it was real.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
And then in my mind I'm saying to myself, Okay,
you know this is how dirty my mind works. I'm like,
all right, well, they gotta get no up here, they're
gonna bump him down.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
You know, maybe it's not.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Exactly a blood clot maybe, And I'm like, no, dude,
they're not gonna say that. They would say shoulder tightness,
they'd say a little groin issue.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
They're not gonna say blood clot No, this is real.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
And you're right. It comes It comes back to the player.
It comes back to the human being, no doubt about it.
You know, I don't think we were saying that when
when Wimby went down to a point because it wasn't
a Philadelphia, Philadelphia seventy six yer, let's just put it
that way.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
But this is a Philly This is a guy we
care about.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
So you're right, I mean, first and foremost, it's got
to come down to the father, the man who he is,
and of course the guy who represents our city every
single time he takes the mound.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
But man, it's just as far as the forecast for
this team. That is a huge, huge blow.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah yeah, And you know it wouldn't you know if
this was.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
A fan of ile thing, it would say, Zach Wheeler
goes to the ten day I l with shoulder stick.
This is a this is a real I don't know,
if I can call it an injury, this is a
this is a medical condition. I think it's probably the
best thing to call it at this point. It's a shame, yeah,
I mean it's not It's not something you see every day.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
You know.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
I can't sit here and tell you that if he
had shoulder stiffs, he'd be out two weeks, because that's
what shoulder stiff usually is. You know, we don't usually
see this a lot in in baseball or in sports.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
So you know, once again and hopefully.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
Everything comes out okay, Wheeler gets everything or moved.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
But you know, I mean it's hard to sit here
and say, after you watch your horse go down.

Speaker 6 (11:10):
But as they say everywhere, the show must go on
because you know, they they still have a goal, they
still have a World Series to win, and you know,
maybe this is one of those situations that they can
rally around.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
I don't know, I mean, is that me talking myself
into something? Maybe?

Speaker 6 (11:28):
But I saw a lot of people throwing around today.
You know, the Eagles could have folded in twenty seventeen
when Carson Wentz went.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Down, sure, and you know they rallied around it.

Speaker 6 (11:38):
You know, it seemed like everybody kind of just knew
that they had to.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Do a little more and it worked.

Speaker 6 (11:44):
You know, maybe Aaron Nola gets a little more pressure
put on him now and starts to really tune things
back up. You know, maybe Hazusizardo gets back to.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
That first half guy. You know, they're gonna need a
few of those things to happen.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
But you know, to sit here and say their their
world series, the aspirations are down the drain, I don't.
I don't think it's right. I think anyone that says
that is wrong. But it's obviously a big, big hities no.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
And you know what I always refer to the odds.
Why why would I change right now? You know, there
wasn't such a drastic fall for the Phillies, little movement
if any, but all in all, they still are saying,
the odds makers are saying that the starting pitching staff,
the bullpen, some of the moves that they made in
the off season are at the trade deadline and oh,
by the way, which I want to get to now,

(12:29):
possibly a triple A call up or two. Where are
we at with these discussions right now? Let's of course
start with Painter. Wouldn't this be a pro again? We
got time. Today's to day. They're gonna get the tests.
Who knows, right, But let's just say for the sake
of this conversation.

Speaker 5 (12:46):
Wheeler not looking good.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
If any, you're probably not gonna get anything this year.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
Painter's got to get the call correct.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
So I would assume because I say that, because they
were planning on going to potentially a six man rotation when.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Nola came back, before the Zach Wheeler incident happened.

Speaker 6 (13:15):
So now that it has happened, it seems like they
have to continue to go that route.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
I mean they throughout Andrew Painter is a possibility before
the Wheeler thing happened.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
I can't imagine his odds decreased after that injury had
come up. You know, they haven't made anything official yet,
but I think it's definitely on the table because you know,
they want to get these guys some rest. I think
they want to give Ranger a little more rest. I
think ideally, you know, they want to give Sanchez a
few extra days rest here and there before the playoffs.

(13:49):
You know, if if Zach Wheeler can't pitch the rest
of this season, Christopher Sanchez.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Is your game one eighth. And I have all the
confidence in the world of him going out there and.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
Beating any team in baseball, but you know, he he
could use an extra few days off his feet, I
think before October. So you know, I think a six
man definitely could be on the table, you know, in
these next few weeks here.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
As far as.

Speaker 6 (14:15):
The outfield, I don't know, because I think there's a
lot of dates that I think people were kind of
throwing out there that it could have happened, and all
those dates have passed and we still haven't seen.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Justin Crawford yet.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
At this point, I think the best case, or the
most likely scenario is potentially that September first day where
the rosters expand they go from twenty six to twenty eight.
That day, usually they bring up one more position player
and one more pitcher.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
You know, I don't know who that other position player
would be other than Crawford at that.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
Point, so I think that could potentially be the day
for him. But you know, right now, it's just kind
of working through it, you know, figuring out what works.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
They made a little bit of a roster move today.

Speaker 6 (15:02):
Nolan Hoffman, who they acquired a few months ago from
the Rangers, got recalled.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Max Bizar was optioned down at Triple A. But you know,
I think, you know, this is the situation.

Speaker 6 (15:14):
Once again, we say all year ebbs and flows, Uh,
this is one of the this is one of.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
The ebbs here, So you know, just have to continue
to work through it.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
That's looked good on Sunday, definitely something they can build
off of.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Nick Cassianus, a guy who's really been struggling at his first.

Speaker 6 (15:33):
Multi hit game Sunday since since August first.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
That's definitely something they could build off of.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
Alec Bohm in his first game back multiple hits, a
really good series in Washington for Trey Schwarber obviously with
another Homer that bombing and the second deck Harper wet
Yard this series. So you know, a lot of things
to build on there from the offense.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
But you know, once again, you just have to keep
working through it. You know, every team goes through injuries, and.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
For Philly team over you know this, I would I
would call this era, you know, from twenty twenty two
to now, you know, other than the Reef Hopkins injury
back in twenty twenty three, this has been a fairly
healthy team, right compared to a lot of other teams.
You know, this is a really this is the first

(16:20):
really I would say, huge injury other than the Reef
one in this era.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yeah, look, you're realistic with it. They've been very fortunate.
It's just the timing building up. You know, when the
Yankees lost Garrett Cole, forgive me, I don't even think
he made a regular season start.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
Did he?

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (16:38):
Maybe he maybe? Yeah, I don't think he did.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
So it's like, okay, if you're gonna tell me, I'm
gonna be without the number one pitcher for the whole season. Yeah,
you could throw that at my face. Well, at least
you got the production for Wheeler, and he was pretty
damn good for all those starts. You're right, It's just again,
it's the expectations. It's a weekend. He wasn't even pitching.
He was just like, all right, yeah, we're good. And
the next thing you know, you're starting to get you

(17:01):
get the drawing news in and of course you get
the the the Nola's coming up here, going to get
his start, Bomb's coming back, so you get a lot
of these things moving in your favor, and then to
just get up, you know, lumped upside the head with
Zach Wheeler blood clot and you're just like, wait, what
that's that's probably gonna take him off off the mountain

(17:23):
for the rest of the season.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
How what?

Speaker 3 (17:25):
And here we are and that's just there the realistic
point of view as a fan, right, like, let's just
call it what it is.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
We're fans here. We want to be tuned in to.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
September baseball and watch Wheeler mom down with that magic
number which is, oh, by the way, what Luke r Kenny.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
That Wheeler fastball?

Speaker 5 (17:44):
No, what's the magic number?

Speaker 2 (17:45):
At thirty four?

Speaker 5 (17:48):
All right? Just checking? Just checking, yeah, just checking, making
sure you knew.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
Oh I know.

Speaker 5 (17:54):
But that's but that's my point.

Speaker 7 (17:56):
How great would it have been the last two weeks
of the season when Wheeler gets to the mountain. He's
mowed him down seven eight innings, and you're starting to
believe that it's gonna be a red October, that we're
gonna all get behind him.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
We still will, but damn it, Zach Wheeler is a
huge loss.

Speaker 5 (18:11):
And forgive me if we get news today that says, hey, look,
it's not as bad as we believe. He'll be ready
to go in a month.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
I hope you're right me, I'm probably a little bit
more pessimistic when it comes to that side of things.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Anyways, let's keep it moving.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
No need to to continue to hit that because we're
all feeling it. Let's talk about the fact that they
did win yesterday and now they got themselves a pretty
good series against a Seattle Manners team that's looked a
little bumpy in these last two series, including yesterday against
the New York Mets.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
Out there Williamsport. Oh, by the way, cal Rowley did
co Yard?

Speaker 3 (18:43):
I think forty seven if I'm not, Oh my god,
it's incredible, all right? Two got Ranger Suarez on the
mountain this evening. Minus one fifteen Logan Gilbert minus one
five eight is our total here. Have to like the Phillies.
But man, question marks what Rainz? What do you expect
from the starter tonight?

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah? I think that's the biggest thing. You know, this
is this is.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
The period now where because Wheeler went down, this is
when you have to, you know, see the good Ranger again.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
It's not going to be incredibly easy.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
The Mariners have hit the ball a little bit this year,
to say the league. Obviously, cal Raley, they got Mayo,
Hanio Suarez back.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
You know, it's a good lineup, There's no doubt about it.
You look down that lineup, it's it's really good.

Speaker 6 (19:32):
Randy or Rose Arena is having a good year at
the played old friend JP Crawford up there in Seattle.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
So you know it'll be a tough one.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
But you know, I would say the Phillies probably just
have the slight advantage tonight just because they're at home.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
You know, they they've played very well.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
At home this year, and I think that should continue
tonight for them.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
All right, taking out Logan at Gilbert, who's a first
round pick back in twenty eighteen three three four e
r A this evening again lost four out of their
last six, two to two out of three to Baltimore
on the road, two out of three to the Mets
on the road. Had a little bit of a tough
trip there to Williams Support and now in Philadelphia, So

(20:13):
that should be a little bit of an.

Speaker 5 (20:14):
Advantage for the fightings here.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
But as far as Ranger, if we were looking at
anything from the standpoint of wagering on a prop or two,
what are you willing to go with what Ranger Suarez
here do you think like this is where we're gonna
see the good Ranger and he's gonna get seven innings,
debt taxes and a a quality start, or is this
something that you know, what, maybe Thompson doesn't want to
roll the dice and hang with them too long.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
Get the ball to the bullpen and see what happens there.

Speaker 6 (20:41):
Yeah, I think I wouldn't really necessarily look at the
apps recorded. I think getting another reliever up today AFTI
I think they want to they don't want to push
Ranger crazy. I mean, if he has a low pitch count,
then I'll then he'll stay out there. But yeah, you know,
I'm not expect Ranger to go out and fire eight tonight.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
If he did, great, the team could use it.

Speaker 6 (21:05):
But I would maybe look towards the strikeout number if
you can get it at a fairly lower number.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
But yeah, I mean, you know, I don't think Rob.

Speaker 6 (21:13):
Thompson, in an ideal world right now, wants to throw
a Ranger Suarez out there for eight innings.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
If you know, if.

Speaker 6 (21:20):
He's rolling and he looks really good, then I think
he will. But I would probably look towards some sort
of strikeout number tonight the Mariners have been striking out
in a pretty good clip recently, so I would I
would maybe look towards that number.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Eleven earned runs over his last two starts.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
That's not going to get the job done.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
A much better performance this evening once again to update
where we're at, because I know a lot of people
like to unplug over the weekends, including myself, and right now,
Mets trail the Phillies by five games in the nl
E seventy one and fifty three, sixty six and fifty eight.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
Well, by the way, a series right around the quarner,
all right, Well.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
A lot to pay attention to, of course, no matter what,
this team is in the running for some good playoff
positions of course, the division and hopefully a really really
fun red October.

Speaker 5 (22:13):
But man, just some sour news over the weekend with
Zach Wheeler. The show rolls on.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Though, That's what Luke rcaney says, and I have to
agree with him, and on that one, A lot of
teams deal with injuries, all right. With that being said, though,
one quick one, you know Scottie Scheffler again, like, come on, dude,
it really is because he was trailing by what three
on Saturday morning when we were live at.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Parks, and all I was saying was like, dude, like
he's gonna come out there on Sunday if he could
keep it close, and he is going to win the tournament.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
And odds were telling you that as much. There wasn't
a lot of advantage or money to be made on
Scotti Scheffer even when he trailed on Saturday and Sunday.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
But Mactar couldn't find the fairway.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Yesterday Scotty of course with the shot of the day,
shot of the year, and the show rolls on man
but just really impressive stuff from Scotty there as they
roll on to the final round as far as the
PGA to our playoffs are concerned.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
But Ryder Cup, where are we at with the Ryder
Cup right now? Luke?

Speaker 3 (23:10):
Who's making your team? We already had the automatic qualifiers.
Who else do you you adding to the cut here?

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Yeah? So obviously the automatic eyes came out yesterday, So
automatics right now.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
Obviously Scotty, uh spawn.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Obviously who won the US Open?

Speaker 6 (23:32):
Xander Schaffley, Russell, Henley, Bryceon Deshambo, Harris English.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Those are your locks right now. Next it gets a
little weird.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
Oh yeah, I think Justin Thomas will find his way
into their Colin Morikawa will probably find his way into their.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
You get you know, sort of on the fence there
with some guys got her up, some Ben Griffins.

Speaker 6 (24:02):
Those are kind of your wild cards right now.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
But we got a little bit of top so they are,
you know, starting to narrow down their list excited.

Speaker 6 (24:13):
I really wish I could find a way up there,
somehow to Best Page.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
It's gonna be an electric weekend up there, but it'll
be a good one. I will say that the US
has home soil, but if you want me to be honest,
I think the European team is probably more full.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
Top to bottom, so it should be it should be
a really really good one this year.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
It's going to be a rowdy crowd up at Best Page.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
Yeah, I think JT's in. I think Markyle is going
to be in. Ben Griffin I think will be in.
So that means there's gonna be two spots for guys
like Patrick Cantley, Chris got her Up, Cam Young, Maverick McNeely,
Sam Burns, and Keegan Bradley who is still he no,
he not.

Speaker 5 (24:58):
Out, He didn't out of qualify qualify, so as he's keeping.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
He didn't he didn't know because he's the captain, correct.

Speaker 6 (25:04):
Yeah, technically he can turn captain C sort of over
to an assisting captain and make the decision himself to
play if he wants to.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
I don't think he's going to, though that's tied up
to him.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
I would probably lean towards him not doing that.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
Yeah, but hey, I mean, if they need him, if
he continues to play really good golf, then he might
have to play.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Well.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Got some good names there instead of the Europeans, unfortunately,
and that's going to be the issue. But right now,
drafting sportsbooks still showing team USA minus moll forty five
Europe plus one fifty. If you want to take a
flyer out on those guys and leave the country.

Speaker 5 (25:42):
While you're at it too, if you're gonna better that kid,
all right, uh luke, we'll be watching tonight man.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Just a tough pill to swallow over the weekend, and
not much you can add to it other than we'll
hope and remain that the the prognosis for all things
blood clot is a little bit less than what I
was making it out to be. Wheelers in good spirits,
good condition, and you know, this team rallies around him
and maybe who knows, they'll get them back at the
end of September or for postseason. We'll see what. But

(26:08):
that news will come up today and we're all hopeful
for that. And of course it starts it ends with
the person himself, so the father of four of course
married man and then some Zach Wheeler is a really
good dude behind the scenes for everything you hear, So
we're pulling from on that note, Man, serious serious stuff, Luke,
great stuff. Will continue to read you over at Crossing
broad dot com. Have fun covering the Mariners, and we'll

(26:29):
catch up later this week.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Man.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
There he is Luke rcaney on the Gambler Hotline. Open
up the show A lot to get to today, and
unfortunately we had to start it with that.

Speaker 5 (26:40):
I was sitting there and I'm like plud clop, what
That's not real?

Speaker 3 (26:46):
And like I'm not even trying to look at stuff
when I'm out and about these days, it's just so
much madness on the timeline. It's just like literally poison
no matter where you turn, and it's just like, all right,
I just want Twitter.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
Can I just create Twitter for sports. I just want sports.
That's all updates.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
Injuries, fantasy spreads, quarterbacks being named, transfers.

Speaker 5 (27:11):
Scores, did I say scores? Odds? I just want that
for sports. That's all.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
People that are actually journalists, that actually go to practice.

Speaker 5 (27:21):
I just want that. That's the m I asking for
too much. You click on that for you category, that's
not for me. That's definitely not for me.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
That was that four I don't even know straight poison
everyone or anyways. So Wheeler is pretty much done. Let's
just be realistic about it, because you know, we don't
have to go too far. Any time you start talking
about blood clots, you think of Wimby and what he
just went through at the age of twenty one, which, oh,
by the way, was in his shoulder too as well,
which was crazy to read up on that Chris Bosh

(27:54):
had blood clots.

Speaker 5 (27:57):
That I believe he had the rot higher after he
got them, didn't he? If I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
There have been some, you know, not too many players
that have dealt with this, but the significant ones are
the main names that have popped up out there.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
It's been essentially that.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Season, that's all you can It's over it's done, and
it's not something I want to go through.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
It's not something that I know too many people have
gone through.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
But the players that have popped up on our timeline,
and of course the headlines made the headlines, we know
that it has cut their season short. So I'm sure
we're on the same boat on this one. Where did
the Phills go? You know? And I think Luke is right,
you have to approach it from that standpoint inside the clubhouse,
next man up?

Speaker 5 (28:42):
But do they have the horses to do so?

Speaker 3 (28:45):
You know, Wheeler was second and running as far as
in Elsa Young only behind Paul Schemes. You look at
the numbers that he has thrown up since he's been
a Philly, including this year, like, that's ken if you
listen to this show, right, That's one thing I've always said,
isn't it great to have an ace?

Speaker 5 (29:04):
Because you know that if you're going through something a
losing streak, or you know.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
A couple of games where your offense hasn't totaled up
more than two runs in a game, which has happened
a few times for Zach Wheeler this year. The fact
that he's getting on the mound gives you all the
belief in the world that this team is good enough
to win that game every fifth day, and now Zach
Wheeler could potentially be done for the rest of the season.

(29:31):
Sanchez is good, and when he's on, he is He's
had his moments this year where he's just as good
as Zach Wheeler. I would say Zach is a little
bit more consistent. For my money, I'm sure that there's
some metrics, some numbers, some categories that you can dig
on that you'll tell me, Oh, Sancha has been a
little bit more consistent this year. That's fine, But I'll
go with Zach Wheeler as my one two was Christopher Sanchez.

(29:54):
We're just gonna bump that up. Where do you go
from now? Who's two?

Speaker 5 (29:59):
Fore?

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Is there a possibility that they could see a little
bit more from Painter? Nola needs to be better? Is
that even a possibility that we could start to look
at Aaron Nola as the guy that you know was
last year? Pretty much for three quarters of the season,
Nola has been a hell of a pitcher and he
hasn't got his due.

Speaker 5 (30:16):
Well.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
This is definitely a moment in his career that could
make a lot of those doubters change their tune, especially
after it's all said and done. Hate to talk legacy
with Aaron Nola, but he's been here for a little while. Hell,
Ruben Tomorrow drafted him. You go down the list like
now is the time that Painter and I would assume

(30:38):
Paynter got the call. I would assume that that they
were already on the phone. I would assume that the
doctors are pretty much painting the picture that I am
right now. And I hate to be playing a doctor
because I share as hell im not. But come on,
let's just be realistic about it. Three o'clock or three
point thirty on a Monday, after getting that news, I
highly doubt anybody's trying to uh to be positive about

(30:59):
zach Quillard this time with the blood clot But I digress.
With that being said, what do you do with the rotation?
What do you need to see? What's the hopes right
now moving forward? When it comes to the starters and
whether or not if a playoff series started today, where
you're going. Let's get involved in the conversation at Fox
PHL Gambler At Fox PHL Gambler on all things socials again,

(31:22):
Philly's back at it after throwing up eleven runs yesterday.
Let's stay with that. A little bit of a cloudy,
overcast sky. There's like a hurricane stirring it up out
there in the Atlantic. I guess, I don't know. I
was at the beach yesterday for a little bit and
it was pretty windy. It was a beautiful day. But
apparently where did I see that? Wildwood?

Speaker 5 (31:44):
You can't swim today in Wildwood on the beaches.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Because of the rough the rough crowds. No, that's every
week I can the rough waves out there in Wildwood.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
You can't be swimming today. So I saw that ton
of timeline thanks to a crystal count from nine.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Anyways, so we'll see if that wind is ripping out
there at Citizens Bank Park. We'll dig a little bit
deeper once we get the lineups, and of course, keep
our eyes open for all things. Zach Wheeler News, big
card in front of us. We got a lot to
recap from the weekend. Brew crew finally cooled off. That
streak came to an end yesterday. Who went yard. We'll
take a look at some of the award numbers that

(32:22):
we're at right now from the weekend that was, and
of course, take a look at some of those big
picture questions we were asking last week when it came
to the wildcard, because now is the time we got
to start looking at this and playoff teams on the
yes or the no at some of my favorite wagers,
especially right here, right now. It's tough to sit there
and say in an April, in May, on the yes.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Or the no.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
But now we're down to the end of the season.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
You can look at the condensed schedule of forty plus
thirty thirty you know, thirty eight thirty nine, forty games
left in the regular season. Who's got who on the calendar?
So now is the time to fire on the y
or the end? Will they make the playoffs? We will
talk a little bit more about that, especially with the
New York Mets in mind. Oh by the way, though,
let's talk some football, because we did have a preseason

(33:10):
Week two wrapped up yesterday, but we do have a
game tonight and Commanders and the Cincinnati Bengals. I just
can't pull the trigger I wagering on NFL preseason, not
to say that I ever have, but the way that
folks talk about these preseason games, I feel you, I
think you can make the case, especially for first quarter,

(33:31):
first half when you know who's getting to start. Both quarterbacks.
Both starting quarterbacks will be in the mix tonight. Apparently
Joe Burrow. We saw that in Week one when they
ended up losing the game to the Eagles. It's steamed
up in favor of the Cincinnati Bengals because Joe Burrow
was starting with the starters. Yeah, they played really well
in that first quarter, but they were gone. Jaden Daniels

(33:51):
will be in the mix. A couple packages are being
put together for the Commanders.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
I just think that's really risky. I'll tell you why I.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Believe Jaydendels and getting him some PT in NFL preseason
Game two tonight is risky. Something to keep our eyes on.
There some details coming out of a DC. And no,
I'm not talking about Terry McLaurin, who has yet the practice.
It's crazy when you're talking about Michael Parsons, Terry McLaurin.

Speaker 5 (34:17):
Of course Hendrickson.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Two out of the three players who are the two
teams that are playing tonight, So there's your storylines will
be discussed.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
All three of those players have yet the practice. Folks.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
It's August eighteenth, do you mean to tell me you
think Terry McLaurin, if he gets that new contract's gonna
slide in week one and be Terry McLaurin last year. Nope, Hendrickson,
you mean to tell me he's gonna step out there
week one for the Cincinnati Bengals, signs that new contract,
get a couple of sacks like he's done these past
two seasons. I don't believe so. And Michael Parsons, what's

(34:49):
going down there in Dallas is just a disaster. But
nobody's surprised by that. Michael Parsons, maybe I would say
he could probably step out there, he's not freaking of
an athlete, and maybe I should probably give Rickson a little.

Speaker 5 (35:00):
Bit more praise as well. But with that being said, I.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Just don't have any expectations early for these three if
they're not practicing no contracts, And shame on the Commanders
for not getting that done with Tara McLaurin. He's the
number one guy. You got your quarterback on a rookie deal.
Come on, show some love for the kid. Well, lucky
for the Eagles and of course us here in the
NFC East, they or not. With that being said, we'll
talk a little bit more about tonight's game, just focus

(35:26):
on some of the numbers there, but I do want
to talk about some rookies, some preseason week two performances
that caught my attention.

Speaker 5 (35:32):
Oh, by the way, little.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Eagles conversation from practice today. Yeah, we'll talk a little
more practice as well, but the big nuts and bolts
coming up, our number two college football ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 5 (35:46):
We got some starters named today.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
Oh yeah, I'm talking Alabama, I'm talking Syracuse, I'm talking
Notre Day.

Speaker 5 (35:56):
We know are these quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
And who they're No, actually Notre Dame hasn't announced who
their starting quarterback I believe is, but two out of
the three coming up. We'll get into that in the
four o'clock hour. A lot to discuss, because I'll tell
you what college football front and center for us.

Speaker 5 (36:09):
It doesn't get any bigger and better than this. We're
gonna be all over.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
For you right here on the Gambler. So don't touch
that down other side. NFL preseason Week two with some
rookie look aheads, and uh, we won't really touch too
much as far as the NFL.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
Preseason Week three. Now, we're not gonna get into much
of that, but a lot to discuss from the weekend
that was don't win and we're doing taking up in this.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
From Tusca Loosa to the Big House Saturday. Start here
our clips it we just got it in the front
as your home for all things college football coverage.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
It's the Gambler.
