it's and that is gonna do it. How about these cyclones?
Career victory number one hundred for Man Campbell as the
slide Bones win the air legis college football Classic in

(01:15):
a classic over Kansas State, twenty boards, twenty one.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Football, some dollars over at this port, and a good afternoon.
Everybody's a daily take with you. We got a lot
to get to on a weekend. It was hopefully we
are alive and rolling. That's a great way to start
the damn day. These boards are a little glitchy from

(01:49):
time to time. What can you do? Wasn't a human error?
I promise you on that one. All right, A lot
to get to. Let's move on from that. As you
just heard, of course, the cyclones were oh out there
shoot with a big underdog with a victory in Ireland
and the expectations. Man, it's tough because, like we're gonna

(02:12):
talk a ton about these games coming up this upcoming weekend.
We don't know a lot about these teams. There's so
many transfers, so much new blood. You would like to
believe like, oh yeah, I got a good vibe on
this team, but we haven't seen him play. There's no
such thing as preseason ball in college football. We were
talking about that with coach Farante from Villanova. You know,
it's like you're going to find out who you are

(02:34):
what you are when you take the field and play
a regular season game. This happened to take place in Ireland.
What a scene it was. The weather had a huge
impact and unbelievable how it ended staying under the total.
We will talk to Luke Arcaney, a man who is
on the over because he can't help himself. You're talking

(02:55):
to a man who is on the under here. No,
I didn't come out on top of that game because
I did have Can's state. But to the bigger point,
you know, and like I said, we want to believe
we know, like what these teams possess at this point
in time, and yeah, there's a lot of carry over
with somebod these big like Jayden Daniels from Kansas you know,
he was like, oh yeah, we know how good he is,
and he looked apart on Saturday night. But you know,

(03:18):
one of the things I said going into that game
between Iowa State and Kansas State was the fact that
Kansas State was favored to win the conference. And I
just thought that was a huge leap major expectations for
a team like the Kansas State Wildcats to all of
a sudden possessed. I just wasn't buying it, and I
kind of was talking myself into the fact that, you

(03:41):
know what, this could be a spot where they lose
the first game of the season. I get it, it's
not over, but it puts you, of course, in the
back looking up at the competition now to win that conference.
So I did believe that the Big twelve will be
up for grabs again. Didn't put too much on it,
but had to have a little stake in the game
because it was the first college football game of the season.

(04:03):
We are back. How much did you watch, what did
you enjoy? What was your big takeaways from all five
of the games that were played. Unfortunately one of them
didn't even make the television, which was about, like, really,
irk the hell out me. We have five games and
we can't get all five games on. Yeah, it was
frustrating not to be able to get that un L
v Idaho State game, which was a pretty good game.

(04:25):
We had Idaho State over seventeen and a half total points.
I think they had that in the second quarter, if
I'm not mistaken. Shout out to Ryan pef coyle on
that play on the college Football rundown heard every Saturday
right here on the Gambler College Football Front and Center
for us this week, of course, with the matchups, doesn't
get any bigger than Ohio State and Texas major line movement.

(04:48):
We'll talk a little bit about that coming up later
in the show. Again, great games all weekend long. My
wife is like trying to drag me to a party
on Saturday, and I want to go. You know, my
daughter just started kindergarten this week. It's been an emotional
week for your boy over here, all right, for anybody
any dad's out there that had a daughter go to kindergarten.

(05:08):
With all love and respect to the boys out there, Yeah,
My daughter went today and it was you know, geez bro,
I mean, you know, what are we doing here? Stuff?
So I'm trying to hang with the family. I don't
want to miss these moments these days. They're growing up
faster than ever. But Texas and Ohio State can't off
at noon and you're trying to track me to a

(05:30):
poll party. Come on, what are we doing here? Anyways?
What a weeken? It was college football and of course
we close up shop Hawaii and Stanford in a banger
of a game. And I don't know if you saw this,
it's something again. We will jab at some of these
dumb topics from the weekend. Of course, Philly's conversation coming

(05:52):
up doesn't get any bigger than the fightings at this
point in time. But the Hawaii kicker who ended up
kicking the game winner apparently learned how to kick field
goals by watching YouTube. Oh you gotta love it, the
way that these kids can improve in anything and everything
in life. Honestly, life, Go to YouTube, there's somebody talking

(06:14):
about what it is the meaning of life, how to
live life successfully? You know, you get gary ve those
concrete pounders out there. We didn't have that stuff when
I was a kid, you had to learn how to
change a tire your own damn self, charge a battery,
your own damn self, tie a tie, your own damn self.

(06:37):
Kick a field you damn right. I learned how to
kick a field goal my own damn self. Now, all
of a sudden, you just gotta watch YouTube, and there's
the answers right at the palm of your hand. Most
of the time on your phone. I kid, uh why though,
They're very lucky to win that game, very lucky if
you were on Stanford. That's a tough beat, not a

(06:58):
bad beat. We talk about that often. That's a tough beat.
Two and a half point spread. You would have loved
to get that half point to get up to three.
I always thought that that was pretty significant in telling
at the same time, and it was the major factor
of pushing me over to Hawahi more than anything. It
was like two and a half. I could see them
winning by a field goal, something stupid, something fluky. Stanford

(07:19):
controlled that game, Frank Rich, there's some numbers out there
from running to football, and then all of a sudden
it went away from it in that fourth quarter, trying
to be aggressive and it did not work out for
them and allowed Hawaii to get back into the game
and then ultimately win that game. But hey man, it
wasn't it cool though? Just from a sports fans perspective,
like we are here Saturday night, had my fantasy draft

(07:41):
with a good bunch of friends of mine. Always great
to be involved with that group. Just joined two three
years ago. I was able to get in and the
only you know, red tape and it is you have
to you must be live in person at the draft.
You can't be in the league that year, which I love.
I love that I was there on Saturday and we

(08:01):
had the Phillies of course with Aaron Nole, which we're
gonna talk to Luke about here, and they come over
with that victory on Saturday night, and it was a
great game to watch on the side screen. We had
Hawaii going off and went kicking the game winner against Stanford,
covering a two and a half high fives everywhere. I
drafted a pretty damn good team. The vibes are about
as high as they get right now with your boy.

(08:23):
With that being said, let's go ahead and shift gears
and get on over to the Phillies conversation because the
vibes are pretty good there as well. Even though Zach
Wheeler is done for the season. We found out six
to eight months it was about as serious as we
all believed it, and maybe who knows, who knows if
that's going to fix it after it's all said and done.

(08:45):
But our thoughts are, of course, with Zach Wheeler released
the statement, everybody's behind them. You would like to believe
that the emotion is there, you know, galvanizing this team,
bringing everybody together. But as Greg Murphy said to me
yesterday on Baseball Brunch, yeah you could sit there and
say football, but when you talk about something with Baseball
one sixty two, it's a whole different ballgame. So the

(09:07):
emotion might be there for a couple days. But they
still have thirty plus games left to go. We'll see.
They look good against the NAT's two out of three,
and the big picture question for me right now, Luke
Rcaney joining us on the Gambler stream Gambler hoighline, excuse me,
three games against the New York Mets. We've been eyeing
this series up. They've already played two times this year.

(09:28):
Phillies took two a three at Citizens Bank Park. They
were swept earlier this year against the Mets in April,
long long time ago. It's been a crazy season between
these two teams. I got some numbers that are gonna
blow your mind, Luke. But right now, the Phillies have
a seven game lead, and they could easily easily lock
this division up with this series. In my mind, if

(09:51):
they take all three of these games, now, it's easier
said than done. It's a good offense if they're getting it,
they're hitting their stride. It's a lot of good names
in that lineup, and as I said, it hasn't been
that easy going up to New York and taking three.
So I'm wondering the approach. But do you agree with me?
If the Phillies were to go up there and take
all three, that's all? She wrote the n L East Luke, Yeah,

(10:13):
just about.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
I mean, things can always get crazy, but that would
just about wrap things up. It would be a ten
game lead with about twenty nine to play, I believe. Yeah,
they have four against the Braves after this series and
then twenty five in September, so it would it would
It would be a ten game lead with twenty nine

(10:36):
to play. It would be an absolute monumental collapse if
they were too sweet and not win.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
But I have a little bit of a different boom. No,
I wouldn't say, you know, take on this series, but
this is this is gonna come out as a as
a loser, loser, and do it. I want to don't
do it.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
I got major jews for these three games. And you're
gonna tell me it doesn't matter what happens up there
in City Field. No, it matters. What are you gonna
say that?

Speaker 5 (11:11):
But if the Phillies get If the Phillies play really
good baseball and get two out of the series, I'll
be wickedly successful and impressed.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
And if they play three really good games and that's
against the Nets, you're not gonna like this. If they
play three really good games against the Nets and they
lose that series two to one and come back home
with a six game lead in the division, I won't
be incredibly bad either. That place has been a house
of horrors for them over the past two years.

Speaker 5 (11:44):
And granted, I will say Phillies had the advantage heading
into the series. The Mets have struggled against left handed pitching,
obviously Sanchez tonight, Lozardo tomorrow, but we all know.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
How the thing goes when they go off to City Field.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
I understand that, you know, you want to go up there,
you want to sweep, you want to win two or three.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
But everybody knows.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
What happens to this baseball team when they get up
the City Field. And granted, I think this is a
situation where they this is a little more than a
regular season series to them, I would say I would
hope because did they know they can go up there
and they can just about bury this thing.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
It's playoff time, man, I know it's August twenty fifth,
It's playoff time.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
They win two or three, they have a nine or
an eight game lead with you know, twenty nine games
less than this season, sure, and what the Phillies really
have to think about too, and what continues to sit
in the back of my head. The only reason I say,
of the one, you know, one of three wouldn't be
a disaster is because the Phillies have four home games

(12:46):
against the Mets beginning to middle of September. And you know,
this is a series over the last few years, since
both teams have finally been really competitive together again at
the same time, where Mets tend to win the series
in New York. Phillies tend to win the series in Philly.
It's just kind of how it's worked. So obviously, I mean,
I'm not I'm not heading into this series like they

(13:09):
have to sweep, but obviously I want them to go
off the cityfield and win this series, and it should
be tonight.

Speaker 6 (13:15):
This is the biggest game for them, I think in this.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Entire series, is the first one. Sanchez is pitching like
a Cy Young. He's put himself into the Cy Young race.
And you're going up against a guy in Senga who's
really struggled since his since coming back from the I
l over a five to five e RA over his
last five starts since coming off the IL, he's been struggling.

Speaker 6 (13:37):
He's been giving up the long ball. Hitters.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
Hitters since he's come off the IL have over an
eight to fifty ops against him. He's been really struggling.
Sanchez has been really dealing. The Mets have struggled against lefties.
You know, tonight is the night to get one. You
know he's gonna get to If you're going to get
to it seems like it would probably be the first
two games of this series with the lefties on the mound.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
Obviously Walker will go Game three for the Phillies here.
But you know, if if.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
You told me that they lost two of three to
the Nets, and I predicted which game they would win,
I would I would truly think tonight would be the one.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
All right, Well, you know, look, I think you have
a realistic point of view. No, you're not a Debbie Downer, No,
none at all. That was Yeah, that's nowhere near what
I thought you were going. That's not a loser mentality.
Winning a series two of three. It's difficult, you know.
And and like you said, uh, the the proof is
in the pudding. The fact of the matter is this
is a tough place for the Phillies to go up

(14:37):
and win. But with that being said, this is a
team that I think is starting to sense it right,
and playoff baseball is getting closer and closer, And of
course with Sanchez on the mound and everything with Wheeler.
I don't know if you read the article over the
weekend about how Nola was saying he watches the game
with Wheeler. Now he's not there, Like this is the
type of thing that this team is going through right now.

(14:57):
Just knowing that Zach Wheeler is no longer in the clubhouse,
no longer a part of this team due to with
the health matters, and of course his replacement we're gonna
bump up, Christopher Sanchez will call him his replacement as
the one right now, the ace and the staff, he's
getting the ball. So it's gonna be an unbelievable opportunity
for them to go out there and get Game one.
One of the things I wanted to bring up to
the people just to let them know how much of

(15:18):
a roller coaster ride this season has been. If you
don't remember, the Mets were actually in first place. The
Mets had the best record in baseball on June to twelfth,
forty five and twenty four. They led the majors forty
five and twenty four with a record for June twelfth.

(15:40):
Since then, they're twenty four and thirty seven, tied for
the fifth worst record in Major League Baseball. On the opposite,
of course, the Phillies have been on a much different
run thirty seven and twenty five since June third, thirteenth.
Excuse me, so everything is playing into the Phillies favor
at this point in time, and again we talked about
the seven game lead that bumped up due to the

(16:02):
fact that the Mets coughed it up yet again yesterday
against the Atlanta Braves, a game that I thought for
sure the Mets were winning. I turned my head for
a second. Next thing, you know, Braves ended up getting
two in the sixth and two in the eighth. If
I'm not mistaken, they win four to three, and the
Mets were unable to sweep. That's another thing that's going
through my mind right now, Lucas this and I'm not
trying to There is enough baseball, and this is three

(16:23):
here against each other, and as you said, another series
that's coming up as well. So if you want to
do damage, if you are the Mets, this is this
is your last lifeline. This is like you are literally
on that final beep with your heart beat going off
right now. You are about to be just straight, you know,
in a coma, nothing happening, and the Phillies can go

(16:45):
up there and put the foot on the throat and
win this division with this series taking place in the
city field. For my money, but you don't want to
give life to the Mets, because you never know. This
is a team that didn't have any life for three
quarters of the year. Last year, they snuck into the
wild card next sea. You know, they ended up beating
the Phillies in the playoffs last year. So you know,
let's return favor here. Enough playing around. You got Sanchez,

(17:08):
the ace and the staff. He's ready to go this evening,
fire up DraftKings Sportsbook. Look at the numbers, real quick,
minus one thirty six Phillies our favorite here, Christopher Sanchez
on the mount seven to ten start seven and a
half is our total. Of course, as Luke pointed out,
singing on the mound plus one eleven. We'll talk more
about this one because we'll get some props and more
conversation about some of the batters, including Trey Turner, who's

(17:30):
just on fire. But I want to talk about Aaron Nola.
The question was asked yesterday on Baseball Brunch, who's your
number two? And I know that that's a very popular
question at this point in time. I look to Aaron Nola.
He had a pretty good outing on Saturday against DC
five innings, was just perfect, and then of course obviously

(17:51):
let a little bit up, and we know when Aaron
Nola fashion, what's gonna happen. But when it comes down
to over the next thirty games, which I think will
give Aaron Nola probably four to five starts, right, probably
five starts for Lucky, I think that's enough time to
get him acclimated, get him ready to go four play
playoff baseball. And the expectations are when you get that contract,

(18:12):
it's your go, it's your time. He should be the
number two. I think he will be the number two
after itself said and done. Although Ranger Suarez looked amazing
yesterday with a eleven strikeout performance career high. Where are
you at on the number two conversation? Do you feel
like you've seen enough from Nola that you think he
could get there potentially over these next couple of weeks,

(18:32):
or my way off and this is Rangers deal and
that's it.

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Yeah, So there's two big factors to this.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
For me, what it's generally going to come down to
is the best pitcher out of Ranger Suarez, Hayess Zarto,
and Aaron Nola over the last two weeks of September.
If one guy looks crazy hot and looks like just
pure domination. I mean, if Hayess Zara comes out and

(18:59):
just looks like unbelievable. You know, then there's conversation there.
The second thing for me really is, honestly, you know,
it depends if they get the buye.

Speaker 7 (19:11):
Because if if the Phillies get into a wildcard series
and they find a team and they get matched up
against a team that really struggles against lefties, then you know,
maybe they'll maybe they'll toss all three lefties out in
a three game series and save Nola for a fresh
start in the NLDS.

Speaker 6 (19:30):
Sort of situation.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
Obviously, you know, if they would find themselves in a
situation where they would need to use Nola in one
of those games, and obviously they would use him. But
I think it really comes down to two things. Who's
hot and you know, the team they're playing in a
potential wildcard series, you know, ideally your number two starters
Aaron Nola finding it over the next month and a

(19:51):
half and being able to split the right's and the
lefties up and you know, being able to roll out
Sanchez Nola Ranger. If it would be a three game series.
It's very different situations though, if they get to buy
and if they don't, because they're gonna probably set the
rotation up a tad different in the difference of a

(20:12):
three game series versus five game series, So that's really
a lot of it depends on that for me. But
you know, the ideal situation here is Aaron Nola pitching
like he pitched a few days ago and and really
really finding it, and he would, you know, be the
ideal number two. I mean, he was signed. He in
a perfect world, he is with Zach Wheeler at this point,

(20:37):
he's probably your number three. But Zack Wheeler's not here anymore.
And I think everybody in that rotation knows they need
to step up.

Speaker 6 (20:43):
Aaron Nolan knows that.

Speaker 8 (20:45):
You know, this is the chance, I think, for the
first time in a while for Nola to really, I
don't want to say, regain some more love from the
fan base, but I think, you know.

Speaker 6 (20:58):
Put his foot down and say, hey, I'm still yeah,
you know, I think the last five years it's been
you know, rightfully, so the Zach Wheeler Show and Zack Wheeler, this,
Zack Wheeler that, oh, Christopher Sanchez looks great.

Speaker 5 (21:10):
Now now it's Zach Wheeler and Christopher Sanchez show, and
everyone forgets we have one of the longest tenured pitchers
in Philly's history here still, and you know, I think
his last start was a great first step in that process. Obviously,
his first game back was brutal, but I thought.

Speaker 6 (21:29):
He looked really good. I thought the fastball, obviously, the
vlow was up.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
He was around high ninety threes into the mid ninety fours,
which is really good to see.

Speaker 6 (21:37):
Once he gets up there, then everything just starts working better.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
Because then you get up into the velocity difference with
the knuckle curve, and just everything starts to work a
lot better for him. But you know, just dis rotation
in general since Wheeler's gone down, and I know somebody
today crossing broad I didn't get to check if it
was who exactly it was, but they wrote, you know,
it seems like a gut punt twin Zach Wheeler, you know,

(22:01):
is out for the season. And it felt like that
at first, But then you go and watch this rotation
and it's like, cirtation could still win a World Series.
And I kind of sat there and walked through it
today with every potential.

Speaker 6 (22:14):
Playoff team right now, and you know, there's there's.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
Fourteen to fifteen sixteen teams in the mix still and
Christopher Sanchez, Ranger Suarez, hayesus Soizardo.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
Aaron Nola.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
How many teams would take that rotation over their current
rotation right now, even without Zaq Wheeler and.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
Sean It's I truly believe.

Speaker 5 (22:38):
It's over ten rotations right now that would take the
Phillies rotation.

Speaker 6 (22:42):
Without Zaq Wheeler in it. And that's a testament to
every guy in that rotation.

Speaker 5 (22:48):
That's a testament to the coaching staff and Thompson and
Cotham and.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
All those guys. But this rotation is still really good.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
And the fact that they lost Zach Wheeler and now
still have a decision on what starter throws in a
three game series is pretty telling because you lost your ace,
you lost your horse, and right now you still have
four pitchable starters for a potential three game Wildcard series.

Speaker 6 (23:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
Look, you're right when it comes down to you look
across baseball and a lot of these rotations, a lot
of these teams, it's open. It's wide open. There's some
good horses at the top of course school. But we
don't have to go into detail with Detroit, you know,
but you look at the Brewers and what they have,
just look at the Dodgers and what they have as
far as starters are concerned, right like it is open

(23:38):
when you start comparing starting rotations versus each other, no
doubt about it. Well, you know, I'm switching my my
vibe up a little bit because all season long, and
it's obvious why I'm doing so, because Wheeler is no
longer here. All season long, if you missed it, I've
been saying, I think that this is a World Series
contender because you go one two with Wheeler and Sanchez,

(23:59):
I think could take games one and two and every
one of those series, including the World Series. Now do
I still believe that?

Speaker 6 (24:05):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (24:06):
Sure, But I'm not lockstock and barrel with it where
I be. You know, you just gotta go ahead and
blind beat one and two no matter who they're going
up against. But now, more than ever, I'm starting to
look at this offense in a different manner. And it
starts and ends with Trey Turner, who is by far
one of the hottest hitters in baseball the last thirty

(24:26):
five days. Just look at his numbers, what he's been
able to do, how much he has bumped up, he's
improved his batting average probably thirty five points in like
the last thirty days. He is in competition for the
batting title, national league or just overall as far as
batting average is concerned, and he sets the table up.
What's been the difference for Trey? Or maybe am I

(24:47):
off my mark because he's been pretty consistent all season long,
But I feel like he's been more in front of
us and just really lighting it up more and more
as of late. Is it just the extra base hits
that's got my attention? Of course, he hit a home
run at Citizens Bank Park. It just feels like something
new is happening with Trey. But he's been one of
the more consistent hitters all season long. In this lineup.

(25:09):
What are you seeing right now?

Speaker 5 (25:10):
Yeah, well, I think he's the most comfortable he's been
since he's got here. He he looks incredibly comfortable at
the plate. He looks incredibly comfortable in the field. The
swing looks just as good as it's ever looked. You know,
they committed to a different approach for Trey to start
this year. Him and Rob Thompson had a big conversation

(25:31):
before the season about you know, what is Trey's goal?
You know, specifically after last year there was a lot
of conversation about him going back to leadoff. It it
wasn't you know, known like what was gonna happen yet,
And Trey's taken this leadoff job this year and has
completely ran with it, obviously hitting over three hundred.

Speaker 6 (25:50):
I believe he's at an eight ten ops right now.
He just looks comfortable. He gets up there and he
just looks like he's gonna get a hit.

Speaker 5 (26:00):
Which I feel like in past with Trey it's just
been like, all right, he's up, like we'll find a hit.
But right now he's just he's just on every pitcher
right now, and that's been the biggest development. The swing
looks smooth, his timing is the best it's been in
a Phillies' uniform.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
He's looked really.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
Solid, and I did want to add to just you know,
the big flack with Tray over the years has been
the defense, and in the matter of a year he's
turned himself from a below average defender to being in
the ninety ninth percentile and fielding this year, he's he's
close to leading shortstops and out above average this year,
which is just an absolutely absurd turnaround from over a year.

(26:43):
He was one of the worst defensive shortstops in baseball
the first two years he was in Philadelphia. And he's
he looks as comfortable as he ever has a shortstop,
even from his Nationals days and his Dodgers' days.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
He's his throws are way better.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
I think the big thing with Trey really over the years,
I think a lot of people would get on him
for you know a lot of the ground balls that
he would boot, but he just.

Speaker 6 (27:07):
Never looked comfortable throwing the first base. In his first
two years. He was like sailing a lot of balls.
And He's made some.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
Throws this year that I've never seen him make in
a Phillies in a slim So just you know, his
overall game.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
I think he's he's ran with it. He's you know,
finally found his his role.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
You know, he doesn't need to go up there and
hit thirty home runs, and I mean that's proven this
year what he has fifteen this year, and he's still
gonna put together probably a twenty forty season with an
eight hundred OPS and a three hundred batting average. He's
leading the National League and hits by over ten. Right now,
I believe he's just having an unbelievable season, and it's

(27:48):
set everybody else.

Speaker 6 (27:49):
Up for success.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
Obviously, Schumber's having an MVP season. Harper's ops is basically
over eight fifty. Now you're getting contributions from guys like
Brandon Marsh and this platoon that has been mopped, and
I could have a million words for what's been said
about it has just flat out worked.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
It's worked since the trade deadline.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
Max Kepler has had a complete resurgence since the trade deadline.
Harrison Bader was a little frustrated when he got here,
just at first, but he started to find the swing.

Speaker 6 (28:21):
I believe he has four hits over his last two games.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
Four on Saturday Night.

Speaker 6 (28:26):
Yeah. Even Nick Cassianus, who was struggling.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
Ever since they've kind of committed to giving Cassians a
few more days off here and there. He's really started
to find the swing again. Brandon Marsh has continued to
rake righties. Bryson Stott has had an incredible turnaround since
having his child.

Speaker 6 (28:43):
I mean, that's really been the day.

Speaker 5 (28:44):
I feel like I've said it on here a few times,
but since the day Bryson Scott had his second child,
he's been on absolute care obviously the big homer by
Mundososa this weekend, all the guys that you need contributions from,
because you know what you're getting from Trey, you know
what you're getting Schwarmer, and you know what you're getting
from Harper. But you know, the past years, it's really
come down to that back half of the lineup, and

(29:07):
you know, whatever outfield alignment you get that day. It
just feels like I couldn't tell you the last time
the Phillies outfield since the trade deadline combined hasn't had
like three or four hits, which is a really big
step in the right direction for this team.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
Kyle Fisher checking in, I was great to have him
on the stream. Turner's first half numbers twenty eight point
six percent extra base hits, traight turns. Second half of
course not finished yet, but thirty one percent exactly right.
It just feels like maybe that's what's more in my face.
And again the power numbers. He had a home run
on Saturday, but Ann by the way, he tears it

(29:43):
up on the base path too as well, and that's
something that it's refreshing to see and definitely has an impact,
a direct impact on that inning. And shakes it up
of course in the game. Back at it tonight though,
taking on the Mets an opportunity to put the foot
on the front. Luke Rgany I won all three. With
that being said, it starts tonight. Gotta take them on

(30:05):
the money line, right, Philly's on the money line.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
Yes, absolutely, this is my This is my once again,
if they're going to win a game this series, it
needs to be this game tonight.

Speaker 6 (30:17):
Set. They have the advantage, they have.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
The pitching advantage, they have the hotter lineup, and you know,
I think winning Game one they have I can't remember
the exact record now, it's it's been a few weeks
since I've seen this stat, but they were a bajillion
games above five.

Speaker 6 (30:35):
Hundred when they win the first game of the series.
They are.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
They have dominated game one of series this year, and
I think this one's just as important.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
As anyone's been this year.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
Once again, they have the advantage everywhere they they're they're
going in like I understand, like.

Speaker 6 (30:55):
It's it's been a tough stadium for them.

Speaker 5 (30:58):
It's just been a tough vibe specifically since you know,
last at the beginning of last season.

Speaker 6 (31:04):
It's it's been brutal.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
At City Field, but they they have they have a
chance to go in and just rip the hearts out
of these dudes that sent them home last year.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
And like the Phillies, I mean, I've never.

Speaker 5 (31:18):
Seen a team more mad after they lost the series
than the Phillies were when they lost to the Bats
last year. And you know, I understand it's it's a
regular season series in August, but there's no way that
can't be in the back of your head. There's no
way you can't think about that game for New York
last year when you're headed back to Cityfield. They need

(31:39):
to go in the night and just rip them the
freaking shreds like that, because it would just it would
bury them. If they go in and win two or three,
I'll sit here on Thursday and tell you this race
is over because they're just they They have the opportunity
to put this team underground over the next few days
and if they can sneak two or three out of
a field that has just crush them, two of three

(32:03):
would be an absolutely ideal series for them.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Just no time to take your foot off the pedal, though,
because there is still plenty of baseball to be played,
even though we are running down. But he got a
tough series coming up against the Braves. You know, they're
trying to fight a little bit back and make it
a decent season, although it's been a disaster for them.
You know, look, plenty of baseball to be played. All right,
let's keep it moving here once again tonight. Phillies are

(32:29):
the play minus one thirty six on draftings Sports. But
Christopher Sanchez getting the start versus singer singers strikeout numbers
have been down a lot this year, so I'm looking
at some hitters perspective to go in there and tear
it up. And he was a gentleman that I followed
last yesterday trying to get that home run to keep
that series streak alive. I think it ended with fifteen

(32:51):
straight series where you a home run. And I'm talking
about Kyle Schwarber. I'm going right back to them. Gimme
Schwerber here tonight. Two total bases. I like Sanchez to
get the job done in a victory on the money line.
So that's my two plays this evening. Anything for you
as far as a batter is concerned, Oh, as far.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
As hitters, I do really like Shober as well.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
We're gonna have to wait for a lineup just because
there there isn't a lineup yet.

Speaker 6 (33:19):
I will say, sneaky guy here.

Speaker 5 (33:23):
If he's in the lineup tonight, I would look towards
Harrison Bader.

Speaker 6 (33:28):
Bater's played for the Mets. I think Baterer is a
guy that will immediately.

Speaker 5 (33:33):
Buy into this Phillies Mets rivalry and want to go
in there and just rip their throats out.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
I would look for Baiter tonight a little bit, but
you know, just continue to ride those those hot bats.
Harper's been been swinging the bat well.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
I would continue to look at Tray, but they've have
a good chance tonight to just start to start the
burial process of this team right now, all.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
Right, other things around the world of baseball had an
winner for you last night. I'll pat myself on the
back with the Yanks finally put an end to that
eight game losing streak against the Boston Red Sox. But
also around the world of baseball, yesterday he did it again.

Speaker 8 (34:12):
And now here's Cal Rawley, fresh from setting the major
league record tyans way to drive deep.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
The left field more history. Goodbye baseball.

Speaker 5 (34:22):
Off the out of town scoreboard.

Speaker 8 (34:25):
Cal Rally with his historic forty knife home run of
the year.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
Unbelievable. Lou cal Raley did it again two times yesterday,
now forty nine home runs on the season. It's fun
to look at these numbers and he is still he's
plus money for the al MVP. Yanks have been faltering
in a big way. Judge has not looked the same
since he's returned from injury. Although there's still pity a
baseball to be played. I'm looking at cal Rawley and

(34:51):
I'm saying, if you had one of those tickets before again,
if you got an even money, that would take a
good not knock yourself out. But there was a significant different.
It's a couple of weeks before Judge went down with
that injury to his elbow, that you could have made
some crazy money on cal Rawley, who was putting up
some serious numbers all season long. So here he is

(35:12):
hit two yesterday, now forty nine on the year. I
will tell everybody this. Julian Edlow did join me on Thursday.
He does not think it's show. Hey, Otani's Absolute Awards.
So if you do own a Schwarber ticket, it's still
up for some people I would disagree. I I just
I just don't see it. But we got a lot
of bagsby playing it, not doubting Schwoerber. And by the way,

(35:33):
I got a damn Shorobber ticket. Anyways, it's minus eight
thousand for show. Hey, if you want to wager on that,
I do want to. Oh what is your crazy Takelook?

Speaker 6 (35:45):
Oh, I don't know if I could say it.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
Oh, I'd love to hear it.

Speaker 6 (35:49):
I think Kyle.

Speaker 5 (35:50):
Schwber has slightly a better chance to win n L
MVP than Raley does ALM.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
No way, No, it's show his game show. He's the
best player baseball.

Speaker 6 (36:00):
Eleven eleven hundred ops.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
That's too much in the minutia. Half the people that
watch baseball don't even know what a good OPS is?
What is the average? Sure, it's too much of the show.
Hey and Schwarber have been trading bombs.

Speaker 5 (36:18):
Do you want to do you want to look at
the Do you want to do the al comparison for
batting average?

Speaker 6 (36:22):
Then if they like batting average more, I just.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Think I think you're no. I think you're looking too
deep into it. I think it comes down to the
everybody loves the long ball. Luke, everybody loves the long ball.
He's they're hitting home runs, and that's like Raleigh, where
does he end? Like I asked, I think I asked
you last week, like what does Schwarber do like to
win this award? And I would say he's got to
hit sixty plus break the Phillies record, which I think

(36:48):
is fifty eight, right, So he would do that, and
then of course they have a better record. I think
then he can get there. But it comes down to
bombs and Raleigh hitting two yesterday. He continues to get
all the fan fair the graphics and know, by the
way Judge is struggling. I don't know, man, all right,
I think it's I don't know.

Speaker 6 (37:09):
I get Raley's a catcher.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
But Aaron Judges hitting three twenty five this year with
an eleven hundred ops and forty bombs, He's gonna finish
with fifty bombs and one hundred and twenty RBIs with
an eleven hundred ops and probably a three to fifteen
batting average.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Was that the worst season than last year?

Speaker 6 (37:26):
I'm not a batting average guy. Yeah, I'm really not
a batting average guy. I know that.

Speaker 5 (37:30):
But Aaron Aaron Judge's batting average is ninety seven points
higher than cal Raley.

Speaker 6 (37:35):
Geez, cal Rally hitting under two fifty this year.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
League average is like two fifty seven.

Speaker 9 (37:42):
I think, yeah, I know, I know.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Wow, Well look I just.

Speaker 6 (37:47):
I don't see the world, you know me.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
I'm a very simple man like skinnerd here all right,
bombs bombs over bag dad, That's what comes to my mind.
And and if Roley can team used to hit bombs
and he wins the Al home run race, I wish
I had a ticket. And again the even money plays cool,
knock yourself out, your cool, nice work. A winning ticket

(38:12):
is a winning ticket. But there was way more money
to be made, you know, two months ago, a month ago,
and and people were putting their necks on the line
back in cal Raley going up against Judge, whose numbers
you just said there with that being said quickly on
this yeah, look at last year. I was just looking
at Judge's numbers from last year. He had three thirty two,
three twenty two batting average last year. Why would you

(38:35):
not show me home runs? And that that is just absurd?
How many home runs did he last year?

Speaker 6 (38:40):
Fifty eight home runs? Okay, with one hundred and forty
four RBS.

Speaker 4 (38:45):
At one point, he's gonna have a down year.

Speaker 5 (38:48):
Yeah, down here, down here, and a seven war on
August twenty fifth.

Speaker 6 (38:55):
Oh, down here, it's then eleven war last year, Sean.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
It's down years. Yeah, it's stupid. It's absolutely stupid. All right.
I do want to bring this up to you.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
And unfortunately I thought I had that ready to go.
That's unfortunate by my fault. I thought I had that
going here. Oh, Sean, what are you doing. That's not
a good job by me. I had something mstrong founding.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Oh yeah, yeah, we just got that, all right. I
had some games. I thought I had some game show
music for you, Luke, I apologize, but just play with
me here on this one. Let's let's toss some trivia
out there for the kids, Luke, and I want to
test your knowledge. And this is interesting. But with what
cal Rawley did right now. He broke hit his forty

(39:45):
eight to forty ninth home run of the year on
Sunday to break Salvador Perez a single season record for
the most home runs by a primary catcher. All right,
so going around the diamond, can you name the all
time home run hitting by the player from that position.
All time home run hitters by position.

Speaker 6 (40:07):
You want to have fun with this one, yes, because
I am very confident in myself here.

Speaker 4 (40:13):
All right, there's one guy that's on it twice for
two different positions. Who is it?

Speaker 6 (40:19):
Probably Barry Bonds now.

Speaker 4 (40:28):
Incorrect? Hack Aaron Nope, A little bit more present day,
A little bit. You're you're probably in elementary school. I no,
I don't even know if you were born. Who knows
a Rod? A Rod is on shortstop and third base?
He hit fifty seven. The worst part about this conversation

(40:48):
is is there were steroids and drugs with like a
lot of these players, which sucks, But it's just the
reality of where we're at. It is what it is.
How you feel about it's how you feel about. How
I feel about it's how I feel about it. I
hate a Rod, always have, always will. Fifty seven at
shortstop in two thousand and two, fifty four at third
base at seven.

Speaker 6 (41:07):
It's a season. Got it got correct?

Speaker 4 (41:10):
All time in a season? Yeah, yeah, yeah, record by
position in a season. Cal Rally just broke it for
the catcher in a year. Okay, so that's shortstop in
third base? Can you tell me first base.

Speaker 6 (41:22):
Oh, first base, let's see.

Speaker 4 (41:26):
Nineties, Mark Watt. There you go, Mark McGuire, seventy right field.
If you can name me McGuire, you can name.

Speaker 6 (41:33):
Me right field, right field, rightfield will be.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
That is correct. Sixty six. If you can name me
right field, you should be able to name me left field.
There you go, seventy three. Nice war all right, outfield
is wrapped up. Short stop at third base is wrapped up.
If you could pull second base, I'll buy dinner's on
me tonight.

Speaker 6 (42:01):
Oh my god, I know who this is. He still plays.
He still plays, And Sean, I'd like to tell you this.
He's on the Texas.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
Better not be seating right now. You got that phone up.
You better not be seating.

Speaker 6 (42:18):
I'm not cheating, I swear.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
Yeah, Marcus one, yep, yep, all right, Oh your dinner,
you son of a gun. All right, So that I
had no shot at pulling that one. Nice worked by
you on that one.

Speaker 6 (42:29):
That was a crazy I just remember it because it
was an absurd season.

Speaker 4 (42:34):
Center field Aaron jeb yep fifty eight, twenty and twenty four.
Of course, as we just discussed, uh DH, which we
have a tie.

Speaker 9 (42:47):
DH one of them show Hey, that is correct? Oh man,
I have who guys in my head?

Speaker 6 (43:04):
I think it's David Ortiz.

Speaker 4 (43:07):
Wow, Luca's on fire. Yeah Ortez and show. Hey. Oh
Tony nice swear, I swear. No, you're good, You're good Man.
Nice work on that one bad job by me I had.
There's the game show music. Yeah, give me the give

(43:31):
me the gong, get me out of here. All right,
it's a Monday. What are you gonna do?

Speaker 6 (43:35):
All right?

Speaker 4 (43:35):
Before you get out of here though, speaking from the weekend,
Tommy Fleetwood.

Speaker 6 (43:40):
Come on down, come onme, baby.

Speaker 4 (43:43):
Tommy Fleetwood finally gets the job done. And it has
been crazy to watch his year, especially his last few weeks.
He shot in the sixties all twelve rounds. I believe
he lost in the last five tournaments two times in
the last hole with the lead like it has been

(44:05):
crazy that he's not been able to get over to hump.
So finally in one and sixty four starts, Tommy Fleetwood
is a PGA Tour champion and with that, that's a
hell of a way to win ten million dollars. Richard,
nice work by Tommy Fleetwood. There a true crowd favorite.

Speaker 6 (44:22):
Oh yeah, no, I don't know many people that don't
like Tommy Fleetwood, right, I've always yeah, he's he's a
very down the earth dude.

Speaker 5 (44:32):
Really cool to see him win because you know, he's
he's just been the definition of his career.

Speaker 6 (44:38):
He said it yesterday.

Speaker 5 (44:40):
They asked him what he thinks that the definition of
this season is and he said close.

Speaker 6 (44:44):
But no cigar And finally just finally did it.

Speaker 5 (44:49):
I mean, if you look down, just like his year,
just really quick from from after the Masters, sure, the
RBC Heritage he finished seventh, the Truest, he finished fourth,
the PGA Championship forty first.

Speaker 6 (45:00):
Didn't play great. Uh, the Charles Schwab he was fourth,
the Travelers, he was second.

Speaker 5 (45:06):
The Open, he was sixteenth, FedEx third, BMW fourth. He's
just always in the mix. He's the king of the
top twenty. If you have a Tommy Fleetwood Top twenty bat,
you probably cash it more than you don't. He's just
he's a he's an insanely just consistent, really good golfer.

Speaker 6 (45:26):
He's a great ball striker.

Speaker 5 (45:28):
And you know it was I got a little PTSD
yesterday when I saw that he was two up with
three to go.

Speaker 6 (45:35):
I think he got a little.

Speaker 5 (45:36):
PTSD yesterday when he was two up, three to go,
But yeah, no, it was It was incredible.

Speaker 6 (45:42):
It was really cool to see him win. And it's
funny that he wins the revamped tour championship to win
ten million dollars.

Speaker 5 (45:49):
I don't know if he saw, but uh, there was
a guy that went back and he put so Obviously,
this year was the first year that they got rid
of like the starting strokere yep, and a guy actually
went back in and put the strokes in. That would
have been this year's ranks. But where those ranks would
have started in strokes last year right? First place would

(46:11):
have been Scottie Scheffler at twenty four under. Second place
would have been Tommy Fleetwood at twenty three. If the
strokes played into effect and just you know, they didn't
know about it obviously wasn't in their head kind of thing,
Fleetwood would have came in second once again and lost
by one stroke. So the year they take the strokes away,

(46:32):
he wins. He wins the biggest first place non major perse.
It was an awesome, awesome weekend for him. I wish
it didn't happen three weeks before the Ryder Cup.

Speaker 6 (46:45):
But you know, very happy for Tommy. He deserved it.
One more thing on the really quick I learned one
thing this weekend. It's that Keegan Bradley has to put
himself on the Ryder Cup team.

Speaker 5 (46:58):
He just he just simply has to at this point.
He's playing too good of golf right now to not
be out there. He's a historical Rider Cup player, he's
one of the one of the most emotional guys on tour,
win he golfs. He has to put himself on that
team because you can't justify twelve better United States golfers
right now in the world and his name not be

(47:19):
on that list.

Speaker 4 (47:20):
Yeah, I agree. And for the people that want to
make the case of like, oh he's the captain, he
needs to be the you could do both right, Like
come on, man, it comes down to just playing golf
and lead him by example. And I think he's doing
a lot of things behind the scenes to get the
juices going. I'm pretty sure Team usay to a man,
knows how important this is and they need to find

(47:42):
a way to lift that trophy. Old by the way
at minus one forty five on DraftKings Sports, but good
luck on that if you're taking Europe, you better leave
the country with him at plus one fifteen. Hey, now,
but it's going to be exciting of course, coming up
in the twenty third of September. We got a long
way to go. We'll cover it all. But like you said, man,
all eyes on Beth paid at this point in time, Luke,
great stuff across the board. Man, be enjoying the game tonight.

(48:04):
We'll read you at crossing broad continue to following on
all things socials. Will catch up later this week before
the Labor Day weekend. Big football coming up. But of course,
Phillies and Mets game one tonight. Enjoy the game. We'll
catch up him. Starry back up man, there he is
killing it on the trivia Kyle Fisher checking in. Sammy
Sosas is the only player in Major League Baseball history

(48:25):
to hit sixty plus home runs in three seasons. He
did not lead the league in home runs in any
of those seasons. Wow, well about that, sports fans, that's good.
That was a good pull. Uh yeah, I'll tell you what.
When I saw that graphic this morning, I won't lie
like you know, Come on, man, McGuire bonds a rod

(48:51):
so s Orties.

Speaker 6 (48:54):
It's like.

Speaker 4 (48:57):
I am anti a Rod. I can't stomach a Rod.
I have always felt like that. He's an automatic channel
change for me. He rubbed it in everybody's face. He
was suspended by Baseball for the full season. He's just
a weasel, like a Rod is a weasel. And you know,
like Bonds, Bonds has been by himself, like you know, maguire,

(49:20):
you don't really hear from him. It's hard for me
to make the difference, is my point. It's just a vibe.
It's a feel, right, people have that feeling towards Ortiz
if you're not a Red Sox fan. His name wasn't
like elicted if I'm not mistaken on one of those lists.
But there was a rumor out there. Who knows. I
forget all what it all came out to be, but

(49:42):
it is unfortunate that cheating did take place, and those
guys are still dealing with the penalties because of course
they're the greatest home run hitters the game has ever seen.
But when you go around that diamond and you're just
looking it, it's like, damn, dude, yeah I did it
with some help, and who knows. You know, everything has

(50:02):
been a little bit more upgraded when it comes to
the world of pharmaceuticals or anything along those lines. Right,
So I'm not gonna sit here and say that all
players are clean these days. I'm not. I think you'd
be foolish too. But it was definitely a different era
back in those days. But a Rod just comes off
as such a scoundrel. And I always point out that

(50:25):
one documentary called Screwball. Just watch that and you'll just
like you'll be anti a Rod, Just right with me
on that one. But anyways, Kyle Rawley though, doing it big.
Of course, Kyle Schwerber doing it big as well, and
everybody loves the long ball, so we'll see in of
course Shoeotoni, who I think he just yeah, He continues

(50:46):
to say history with his home run for the Dodgers.
What forty five home runs? I want to say, back
to back seasons, first time if a Dodger player has
ever done that? Did that out in San Diego. Pretty
good Pennant race going on. As far as that Divisi
and his concerned Division race, we'll see baseball's heating up though.
Right now. If you haven't been paying attention, now's a

(51:07):
good time to lock in I get it football season
is here, but we do have some really good races
going down as far as the divisions are concerned, wild
card is concerned, batting, average, RBI, home run pitching, right,
would I say e Ra saves an article Yesterda at
MLB dot Com. I'll tweet that out at Sean Underscore Brace.

(51:28):
But it does highlight some of the things that we
have going down here for the month of September that
are gonna be really, really exciting. But of course, all
eyes on Phillies and the Mets game one tonight. Who
you got love to hear your thoughts if you've got
a player or two prop again at Sean Underscore Brace
or at Fox PHL Gambler Christopher Sanchez on the mound.

(51:48):
From my money, take them this Mets team. He's gonna
shut them down. They haven't been struggling too much as
far as hitting the ball, but this is a snake.
This is a team that if it can go wrong,
it will go wrong for the Mets. That's basically what's
been happening to them in the last month or so.
So I would bet against them any opportunity I have,
including with Christopher Sanchez.

Speaker 6 (52:06):
On the mount going on.

Speaker 4 (52:07):
A good singer, A much better pitcher there, all right?
Daily take a roll on other side. Talks in football
better than is.

Speaker 6 (52:13):
We don't just.

Speaker 4 (52:14):
Watch college football, we live it. How do they stand
on pallace there? Look at them? Go stoopid?

Speaker 1 (52:23):
