Speaker 2 (00:10):
Yes, good afternoon, everybody daily. Take him in here. I
(01:13):
feel like I've been sleeping in this place.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Seventy two straight hours. I've been locked in the studio.
You think Scott Hansen has anything on that, Come on,
he's in and out one day.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Your boy over here, he's been locked in this place.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Saturday called Football Rundown Show Myself and Beef live for
two hours.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Villanova.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Colgate opened up the season with a victory. Good game, too,
good game. Now that does not lead to anything good
happening on Saturday at Happy Valley, But you know what, that's.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Why they played a game yesterday.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Myself Roy Burton live right here. Countdown to Payout from
eleven one, and I just want to thank everybody for
tuning in, getting involved. Both shows were great successes right
from the jump, just tremendous success for the first two
shows right in out of the shoot here in September,
(02:16):
and we're just getting warmed up, We're just getting started, right,
you know. That's that's what it really hits right now
where okay, everybody got the cobwebs out of their brains.
You know, I saw the phone ringing a little bit
more of there in the sales department.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Football seasons here.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Oh, by the way, the Philadelphia Eagles are the reigning
Super Bowl champions, and they looked pretty damn good on
Thursday to open up the season at times where they
perfect know, and that's obviously where I wanted to start
today's show. Is like, all right now that he had
an opportunity to watch everybody play, excuse me, one more
(02:57):
game tonight Monday Night football. Pretty good one too as
well with the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears. Two
really good storylines there as far as coaches are concerned
with defense coordinator versus Ben Jonson, guys that know each
other very well in that conference. A quarterback that we
continue to talk about in just some alarming fashion. If
(03:20):
you just are coward with that article on the Athletic
about Chicago Bears kayleb Williams, it's kind of mind blowing,
but it doesn't shock me. When you're drafted number one overall,
they're going to bend over back where its to make
you happy for some Now, that doesn't mean all quarterbacks
or all players are created equal.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
I think we understand that. But still so, we got
ourselves a pretty good Monday night football game.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
But out of all the other games that we were
able to watch on Friday, with the Kansas City Chiefs looking,
you know, as sluggish as they were, as limited as
they were, I know they suffered a pretty big injury
there too. Worthy in the beginning of the game, four
plays in his shoulder just smashed into pieces. I mean,
(04:00):
my god, can you put on a couple lbs in
the offseason running across the middle of the field. And
who knows how long he's gonna be out for? Hopefully
not much, because I did think that it was gonna
be a big year for him, and I do have
Worthy on one of my teams that you don't give
a damn about. But that's all right. Yesterday we all
settled in right from the jump. We opened up with
(04:21):
the course. Rogers returned to his old neighborhood, his old
stopping grounds of MetLife. We had the Bucks and Falcons.
We had so many games, the Giants and Commanders, Colts
and Dolphins into the four o'clock window, we had some
pretty good games there, finishes happening left and right. Scott
(04:42):
Hanson earned his money in the four o'clock window, Niners
pulling it out at the end, and then into the
late night, late night evening where we ended up with
possibly it could be the game of the year, and
it was Week.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
One between the Buffalo Bills into Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
But the question I have, after assessing everything in the NFL,
taking a look at some of the players that you
thought would jump off the page you whether they were
rookies or guys that just you felt like we're going
to turn the page this year, or teams that you
thought would take a step up, or teams that you
thought would repeat and apply that same logic, those two
(05:25):
eyeballs that you have, that big brain that you have,
and think back about Thursday night and come away just
a little bit happier about the fact that the Eagles
were able to beat the Cowboys in a game or
week one, game one of the new season. It's all
I'm saying. It's got to make you look at it
(05:47):
a little bit differently. Every team was flawed. There were
players that did not look good. There were players that
you expected to have big time performances that were gassed.
There were coaches that made dumb decisions all day, yesd
defenses that got tore up. The Detroit Lions favored to
win the division? Where did they even make the trip?
(06:07):
That offense was got awful. And you apply that to
what we saw on Thursday night with the Philadelphia Eagles.
I just want to know, does it make it exhil
a little easier?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
That's all of.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Course, get involved in the conversation at Fox PHL Gambler.
At Fox PHL Gambler, we're running live here on all
things socials were streaming and we were even taking some
phone calls.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Over the weekend. You gotta love that.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
We had a guy calling on Saturday that said Akron
would not score a single point against Nebraska.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Guess what he was right. That's the college football Rundown Show.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
That's the type of logic, the type of winning plays
that you get weekend week out right here on the Gambler.
All right, enough of that, let's get to it opening
drive time. You know where we're going.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
The daily ticket opening drive. No warm ups, no stretching,
just straight into the action.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, where do we start? And it was the game
of the day.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
And I don't think that the Minnesota Vikings and the
Bears are gonna top what we saw last night up
there in Buffalo. The Bills were down fifteen in the
fourth quarter. Oh, I cash my ticket. I put out
a tweet of drive into the second half where I
started power ranking the teams of what I just witnessed
(07:26):
with my own eyeballs, and I said, I've seen enough.
The Baltimore Ravens impressed me the most in Week one,
and then all of a sudden, Harbaugh froze up everywhere,
Derek Henry fumbles, and Josh Allen is an absolute superhuman
being and deserves the MVP, and then some just give
(07:49):
it to him again after yesterday's performance. Two hundred and
fifty one yards passing in the fourth quarter alone unbelievable.
But they can't do it unless the evens makes plays.
And that's what the Bills did.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
And I hand it off to Henry and he's bottled up.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
The ball is out, it's loose.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Who's got the football?
Speaker 3 (08:08):
It's Buffalo ball at the Baltimore thirty yard line. Torell Bernard,
That's when you knew there was trouble you knew there
was trouble once he fumbled there, and you.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Were like, oh, that's not good.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Anyways, you still had to put points on the board.
Josh Allen leading the charge.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Tallan reaches over the goal line and he is in.
He went high side this time.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Instead of low and he punched it in for the
one yard touchdown.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Runk now, Matt Brater. It went back and forth.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
There was some dumb decisions, including punting to the Buffalo
or to the Baltimore Ravens. Harbai have no idea why
he decided to do that. You don't have Ray Lewis
back there, you don't have Ed Reed. You're not the
Buffalo Terrell Suggs, You're not the Baltimore Ravens with the
great defensive old You got a hell of an offense.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
You got Derrick Henry.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
He just is unstoppable when he gets the ball and
he runs down the hill unless he fumbles. You got
Lamar Jackson, who is his own superhuman being himself.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
And what do you do?
Speaker 3 (09:04):
You punk the ball back to the Buffalo Bils. The
only way you're going to lose that game is if
you give them the ball back and it's exactly what
took place. Matt Prater, who was signed by Buffalo on Thursday,
plays hero hits the walk off field goal. John Harbaugh,
come on down, all eyes are on you. He's not
getting fired no matter what happens. He's gonna be able
(09:25):
to write off or right off into the sunset whenever
he wants, and he deserves that. I'm not here to
say that he needs to go, but he has to
change his approach to finishing games. It's not how you start,
it's how you finish. Come on now, it's not hard
to understand that. And that was a game that you
can't lose. They were up fifteen in the fourth fricking quarter.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Defense they weren't there. There was no defense on either
side of the ball. But when you have an offense
like you had, why give the ball back to Buffalo?
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Just made no sense. Harbaugh.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Seventeen blowing double digit leads in the second half. It's
the most, at least since nineteen ninety one. The Bills
are the four team since two thousand to win a
game despite trailing by fifteen plus points in the final
four minutes. All other teams are three and two. Excuse me,
I wrote that run down there again. Just for them
(10:23):
to be able to come back the way that they did,
just ridiculous. Alan Jackson combined for seven touchdowns. Derek Henry
added one sixty nine to two scores Alan, as I said,
two point fifty one in the fourth quarter alone. I
would imagine if you had Josh Allen on your fantasy squad,
you probably found.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
A way to win that game. The fumble was the backbreaker.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
That was when I started turning over like I had
one eye open. I had the shoutout to DraftKings with
the ghost leg. You gotta love that, just giving us
an opportunity to win, because you know how many times
that same game parlay comes up one leg short.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
If you opted it in, used the ghost leg.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
As long as you only lost one leg, it removed
that brought down the odds to whatever it may be,
and you cashed. And so here I am all I
need left. I had Josh Allen, two touchdowns, I had,
what did I have? I had Derrick Henry, I think touchdown.
The one leg that I ended up getting wrong was
I had the under on that For crying out loud,
(11:22):
what was I taking there? And I just needed the
Ravens money line, they're up fifteen. I'm saying, all right,
I'm gonna close my eyes. I'm gonna wake up to
a winning ticket.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Eh. Nope.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
The fumble and that's when it started happening. The Avalanche
was unstoppable at that point in time. Not much you
could do about that. But you know, you also have
to look at some of the other things that did
go right for Buffalo, like for crying out loud, I'm
fourth and two, Josh Allen rolling to the right, the
ball gets tipped and it still ends up for a
touchdown catch, Like, what do we do it?
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Come on now?
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Unbelievable performance, unbelievable game. And you know, it's one of
those moments or one of those games where you're like,
I wish this was on a little earlier so I
could enjoy.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
It a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Knowing that the alarm clock was going off at four
thirty five in the morning and that was probably what
eleven forty five. Yeah, that was a little tough there.
So I wanted that game to end. I wanted to win,
but that was not the case. Oh well, what can
you do? On to the next one? I think number
two for me yesterday. As we take a look at
some of the big games that took place yesterday, storylines
(12:30):
that we built up. Now again, it's not a team
that I'm looking at potentially to do anything. Maybe they
could make some noise in that division. Highly doubt that
they're going to be better than Baltimore Ravens. But you
have to give it up. Aaron Rodgers look good. He
did four touchdown passes. I'm not gonna sit here and
say it was vintage Aaron Rodgers, but forre TD passes,
(12:53):
just for TD passes, zero turnovers is zero turnovers.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
He was able to put it together. Oh, by the way,
I want trying to let on Justin Fields and the
New York Jets.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
They look good. There's some hope there for Jets fans.
I think as far as fantasy is concerned, Justin Field's delivered.
I want to tip my Captain Mark Canby Junior on that.
It's a hell of a get for you guys out there.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
You gotta have you.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Gotta listen, you gotta pay attention to what's being said
on these airwaves. Justin Fields was a must draft and
he paid off and then some yesterday. But the story
is of course, Rogers going back to MetLife and turn
him back the hands of time.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Play action pass Rogers rolling, he fires underneath.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
Wide open his skronic Ben Benskeronick is in for the score.
Rogers the scronic opening drive touchdown. The Steelers did not
have a single opening drive touchdown last.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Year, not one. Well, not a bad way to start there.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
As far as this year is concerned, new Sheriff of
Town with Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
And again that that game was that game was fun.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
To watch, right, I'm sure as heck wasn't building that
game up by no means. As far as the game
that oh, I can't wait to get home and watch
the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Jets. From the betting perspective,
I thought the Jets were gonna win that game at home,
and they had an opportunity to at least make it
a little bit more interesting where they fumbled a kickoff
return when they were up by two, I want to say,
(14:18):
in the third quarter, which was just a tough blow
to overcome. But you gotta take your cap to the
Pittsburgh Steelers going in and getting that victory.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
The one thing I.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Would say about the Pittsburgh Steelers is. You can't be
getting Aaron Rodgers sacked four times in the game. Dude's
forty whatever, he is, forty two, forty one. Yeah, if
you continue to get him hit the way he was
taking hits yesterday, that's not gonna work out for you
at all. Brace Hall for the Jets ran for a
bucko seven on nineteen carries. We talked a lot about
that justin fields and yesterday's show. We ended up hitting
(14:49):
on whether or not he would go over to the
number fifty hens of a forty eight rushing yards sixteen
to twenty two to two eighteen, a touchdown in the air,
two touchdowns on the ground. Garrett Wilson seven catches for
ninety five yards a touchdown. That tots were exact, exact
numbers yesterday. The prop as far as draft cans is concerned,
with seven catches, he hits that on the number. Over
(15:10):
to the Pittsburgh Steelers. DK Metcalf looked really good. He
was blazing back there. They had the rotation working in
their favor. As far as the Pittsburgh or run game
was concerned, Jalen Warren had eleven great carries. Kenneth Gainwell
shout out to kg of course, Super Bowl champion for
the Philadelphia Eagles, seven carries for nineteen yards, Rogers twenty
(15:30):
two of thirty two, forty four, four touchdowns and zero picks.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Again to the way that.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Game started, gas pedaled down sixty six points and oh,
by the way, was the lowest total on the board
coming into Week one. I want to say thirty seven
and a half to win off at If you bet
the most points would be scored in that game, it
was thirty five to one, thirty five to one, that
(16:02):
that would have been the highest scoring game in Week one.
Now did it finish that number as far as the
highest total is concerned with sixty two, No, because you
ended up losing by a tough game with forty one
to forty eighty one points where.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
I had the under end. So I'm not exactly the
genius over here.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Regardless, though, you gotta give it up to the Pittsburgh
Steelers opening up one to oh. I don't think that
they're going to win that division, but as I said,
I did not have them.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Winning that game yesterday. Nice work there all right.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Now to game number three for me and we got
to go out to Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Again.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
This was one of those games where I felt like
the vibes, the emotions would be through the roof because
of Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
And it was correct.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Even though he only played twenty nine total plays, he
did come away with that timely sack in the fourth quarter,
but you could tell that his presence was felt both
on the field and in the stands. Did you hear
the floor calling out his fans saying, don't be selling
your tickets next time to the Detroit fans, it's week one.
There were a couple coaches that called out the fans yesterday.
(17:08):
Josh Allen called out the fans up there in Buffalo
because they left they were down by fifteen in the
fourth quarter. They didn't think they were coming back. Ooh,
you gotta believe. Come on, man, give him some faith
next time, as Josh Allen said. But green Bay they
look good in that opener and from the storyline perspective,
(17:28):
there's so many things that you can go into.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
For me, of course, it's to Michael Parsons. One.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
It's the addition of Parsons to that defense. This is
a team that played the Eagles very hard last year.
A lot of analytics are in their favor you knew
that adding Parsons to that team was only going to
raise it up another level, and it showed you yesterday.
For my money, go heading into the evening for Baltimore.
As I said at Baltimore and Buffalo, I thought Green
(17:57):
Bay looked the best yesterday twenty nine total plays and
that's only going to continue to grow as far as
what we saw in that game. And I'll get to
the box score in just a second, because I don't
think it really revolves around the box score to a point.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
I just want to.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Say that the one big storyline was whether or not
Detroit would be bothered by not having both of those
coordinators that they had for the past few seasons. Aaron
Glenn on defense, Ben Johnson on offense. Offensively, absolutely, they
were atrocious on offense.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
That was bad on offense.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
GoF threw the ball thirty nine times for two hundred
and twenty five yards.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
That's not a recipe for success.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Gibbs had ten catches out of the backfield, ten catches
for thirty one yards. It's like the lowest total in
NFL history for someone to have ten grabs. The fact
that he finished with thirty one yard yards here say,
it's a fireable offense, but it's a what the hell
did we do type deal.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
That's where you have to start.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
If he's gonna have ten grabs already, that's a huge issue.
How are we not getting Saint Brown open Jamison Williams
with four grabs each? Lowporta, who is a pretty damn
good tight end in his own right six grabs. He
had a self a decent day. But those are the
questions that I would start if I'm Dan Campbell. Going
as far as offensively, we didn't take any shots downfield.
(19:27):
I think they had one play that they took a
shot over twenty yards all game long. And they were
one of the more explosive teams in offense last year.
And as I said, the same players are still there.
So I think Roy said yesterday it's not something. If
I'm not mistaken what he said about not having their
(19:48):
two coordinators back for this year. Oh, it was definitely something. Now,
there's plenty of time to grow. I know that or learn.
I know that this is the time that we want
to lie to ourselves about week one and say, oh,
the Indianapolis Colts, watch out. I got him getting to
the AGENC championship game. The Dolphins are atrocious fire everybody.
(20:10):
The overreaction Monday, of course, especially a Week one edition,
is the best one we get all season long. I
look at what Detroit was yesterday and in that environment,
that was a tough, tough spot for them to go
in to win. With that being said, there's a lot
to fix green Bay. On the other side, Jordan Loved
(20:31):
sixteen to twenty two to two touchdowns in the year
one eighty eight, Josh Jacobs only nineteen carries sixty six.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Tucker Kraft looked good.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
He only finished with a catch, though, which was surprising
when you did break the excuse me, he did have
a couple more. He had two catches, but he had
the one touchdown. He was a guy who was looking
at when it came to fantasy as far as the
tight ends concerned. He was still available a little bit
later in the draft, Jaden Reid, you had Matthew Golden,
the rookie out there with two grabs. They spread it
around a ton of work, were a lot of receivers.
(21:01):
But that was an ugly game start to finish by Detroit.
And that's exactly where I started in my assessment of
what took place.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Out there in Green Bay.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Kyle Fisher was on the sideline, So I'm looking forward
to hearing a little bit more of what his takeaway
was this week here on a daily ticket, he represents
the squad over at CBS Sports. He followed Tracy Wilson.
I saw his breakdowns on Instagram. Fantastic point of view
and what it was a beautiful day out there at Lambeau.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Here's the Snapple up throws rights out of the.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Enza touch down Taydan Reid right corner of the Enzo.
They beat Terry at Arnold hot ded and a Lambeau
Lake to the north end zone stands for Jaydan Reid
Jordan Love.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
After the game, I'm Michael Parsons.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
Yeah, I think, you know, I think he was limited
in some of the opportunities, and it was definitely out
there on third downs and obviously, you know, the offenses
is going to have a plan to trin and you know,
put as many hands on him as possible. But you know,
I think he was definitely making an impact. His presence
has felt out down the field.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Yeah, he flies around, he buzzes. We know how darn
good he is, Like we can give it up as
far as well. It was a reason why he did it,
and the Packers got fleeced and the Cowboys made up. Now,
Michael Parsons is on his way to can If you're
telling me a player that's four years into his career
has had double digit sacks, no less than twelve, that's
(22:22):
what he was drafted to do. He ripped it up
at college. He's been delivering and then some for you
on defense. There's no way that I'm trading him at
this point in time of his career. He's getting that
second contract and that's what he should have got in Dallas.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
But he feels like he's relieved.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
You know, if he spoke a ton post game, and
he's not a guy that likes to shy away from
the opportunity.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
To speak on a microphone, we know that.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
So I wonder if the podcast will be available yet
or he's gonna put that on ice for this season.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
We'll see though, But Green Bay showed.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
A ton of muscle in that home opener, and as
I said, Parsons made his presence.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Felts twenty seven to thirteen. That was an.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
E winner by the Green Bay Packers. All right, let's
get to the afternoon though, in a game that I
had a lot of interest in, and the reason why
it's because of those division battles, right, and the forty
nine ers are a team that I think I thought
would be a hell of a lot better this year
(23:24):
than what we saw last year. Now I think they
ended up with how many wins last year six? They
were atrocious, So I'm sure that they'll do better in
that category.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
But as far.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
As the offensive line, as far as defense, I think
there's a lot of question marks.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
They couldn't pick up the tough yards.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
They had to get creative what Shanahan is really good
at to pick up some tough third and short and
fourth one using McCaffrey out of the backfield. But Christian
McCaffrey looked vintage. What a performance by him. But to
the game itself, brock Purdy delivered. And you know, he's
one of these guys that I was definitely doubting in
(24:02):
the beginning of his career, but he has proved his worth.
Speaker 6 (24:04):
And then some one to go fourth quarter shotgun Purty
looking looking pump from behind. Now he rolls out, still
has time, still looking now he rolls to his right.
He's pursued and he throws it.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
And could just got it.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Lead touchdown, seventeen to thirteen. Final score. I think the
forty nine Ers were a point favorite at the two
points favorite it went off at I had the forty
nine ers in that one. Not the best day as
far as ats for me, pretty much split five hundred.
Actually one game under five hundred if I would not
(24:41):
lie to you, Yeah, because I ended up having Houston.
That was a tough loss. That one put me under
five hundred for the picking every game so far in
a week one. But as far as that game is concerned,
Purty looked good. I thought that that pass play that
he was able to make at the end really showed
me a little something there. As far as McCaffrey is concerned,
(25:02):
like I said, twenty two carries for sixty nine yards
out of the backfield, he had nine catches for seventy
three yards, picking up tough first downs. They were able
to move him all around and it looked like he
had some pop or some bounce in his step. So
there was a lot of concerns for him. But all
in all, Christian McCaffrey, I came away with him pressed.
(25:22):
Now it's a long season. It was only one game.
We'll see what happens there. Robinson Junior here they picked
up in that trade. He carried the ball nine times
for thirty three yards. Kittle ended up getting hurt and
I don't know what the latest is, but I know
it wasn't anything good. Four grabs for twenty five yards.
He had a touchdown already, but then he ends up
(25:43):
leaving the game. And that was a team that was
already hurting as far as the skill position players, with
Brandon Ayuk and everything along those lines. With Jennings signing
a new contract, how much could he count on him.
He did have two catches there, but all in all
they were able to pull that tough division battle victory
out and Brock Purdy leading the way twenty six to
(26:04):
thirty five, two seventy seven, two touchdowns. Did have two interceptions,
so need to work on that. One was a tough,
tough throwaway that I think was picked off. It was
just a hell of a play by Seattle, and the
other one was a bad interception. But still the forty
nine ers and Rams looked like the best of the
best in that division. It's what we all thought would
be the case forty as were favored to win that division.
(26:26):
I went with the Rams. We'll see how that one
plays out over to Seattle. Sam Donald not a believer
sixteen to twenty three one point fifty. He needs to
donate a lot of that check that he was able
to get uh to O'Connell as far as the contract
is concerned, because there's no way that I was believing
Sam Darnald was anything of what he showed us last year.
(26:47):
I think that was coaching and oh, by the way,
the weapons that he had. It's got some pretty good
weapons with Cooper Cup and Smithton Jigba, who had himself
a day nine grabs for one to twenty four, Cooper
Cup two catches for fifteen yards. Cooper Cup was one
of those guys on my fantasy in my fantasy drafts
that I felt like I was always faced with do
I want him now? For the last three seasons, I
(27:09):
don't think he's been able to finish a year. But
all in all, Cooper Cup was a guy that I
know I could have drafted in every one of my leagues,
and I don't think I took him in won, So
I think he was one of those guys that I
wrote down, and if Cooper Cup turns into maybe the
Cooper Cup of old eighty percent of what he could be.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Remember the Triple Crown winner.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
There was a beast, and he stays healthy, he can
help you win a league. But yesterday had a tough drop.
Normally he makes that grab and only two catches for
fifteen yards. Kenneth Walker twenty total yards and Zach Charbone
is forty seven yards total forty nine ers. They bawled out.
That was a big time victory by the Niners, and
(27:46):
as I said, a division win. So you gotta give
them credit on that one. Speaking of division wins, let's
go to Atlanta, another game that we focused a ton
on because of the fact that you're opening up Week
one with two teams that are pretty much going to
decide that division. The Bucks, who have won the NFC
South four straight years, were favored to do it again.
(28:09):
Could the Falcons dethrone them? I believe so I took
the Falcons this year. I took the Falcons Yesterday. Tough loss,
tough loss, and the way it started with Bijon taking
the first catch to the house, you're thinking, all right,
here we go defensively Pierce looked good for the Falcons.
(28:29):
He was able to get after Baker. I thought Baker's
offensive line wasn't all that good. There were just so
many things that were leading me to believe that the
Falcons were going to.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Win that game yesterday.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
But the story about Tampa Bay and the resurgence in
the past few seasons since Brady left has been about
one guy, one guy only, and.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
It's Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
And it's incredible to see he has galvanized that team
around him. He is a true leader. I don't know
if he has changed his ways. Obviously, you know he's
getting a ton of help with the players. He's playing
down there, good coaching XYZ, no doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
But there is something going on with Baker.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
And like last year, he made me be a believer,
and then this year, I wasn't surprised he was able
to hook up as you're gonna hear to go ahead
with that leading scorer on the throw to the rookie.
Unbelievable two touchdown performance out there.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Shoot, are you kidding me? Twenty five yard line, empty backfield.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
Baker Bayfield takes a belt high snat, looks, looks, throws
the ball toward the endz alive.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
That's a hot ball touchdown, Tampa Bay.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
I'm knacker, I'm Buka. What a defender all over him?
He breaks the grab of the end zone. The Bucks
take the lead.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Three total touchdowns for Baker Mayfield. Abuka had himself a day.
Four grabs, two touchdowns. Does that something you're gona able
to count on every single week? Maybe not two touchdowns,
but I think it's only going to get better. I
think it's only gonna get better. He's got some serious speed.
He was going up and grabbing these balls. And you
think about where he came from Ohio State with all
(30:04):
those star receivers, and he's one of the better ones
to be to come through those hallways.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
This kid's the real damn deal. I know that.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
There were a lot of people saying that. Shout out
Nick McClay. He was saying, he's the best receiver in
the class. He's gonna have the numbers that look like
they'll be the best in that class, no doubt about that. Now,
the Falcons had an opportunity to tie it. Field goal
went left and then right, and unfortunately we missed the
(30:32):
overtime period because I think that would have been entertaining,
but still you got to give it up to the
Tampa Bay Bucks for winning that game in Atlanta to
open up the season with the division victory.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
And when we talk about these.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Divisions and who you believe will win it and where
you're gonna go and who you putting your money behind,
as far as that's concerned, that's probably one that's gonna
come back at the end of the season and there
will be the difference in that division.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
I know it's weak.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
One might be getting ahead of myself, but that's where
my mind was at. To the box score, we go
Michael Pennis twenty seven of forty two to two ninety eight,
a touchdown, no interceptions. He was sacked once. He looked good.
He was actually moving out of the backfield. He carried
it six times to twenty one yards, picked up a
tough first down at the end of the game, and
also scored the touchdown to tie the game as well
(31:20):
or to.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Take the lead. Right take the lead, I believe to
take the lead.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
So Michael Penix I was a Michael Pennicks believer, and
he showed me a little something there in the first
game of the season.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Backfield though.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Running game, as I said, Beijeon was disappointing though to
the way he started the game with the first catch
to the house I think fifty yards. He finished with
twenty four total yards rushing. Can't do that. Bjeon Robinson
is too talented of a player to finish with twelve
carries for twenty four yards. And I know he had
six grabs out of the backfield. That's something you want
to hang your cap on. That's fine, but still Drake
(31:56):
London ended up getting hurt. I don't know what the
latest is there.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
On the injury report. I need to read up a
little bit more on those injuries to find out exactly
what's been said right now.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
But all in all, Drake London could be a huge
loss if he's gone eight grabs yesterday fifty five yards total.
Kyle Pitts come on down seven catches for fifty nine yards.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
Could it be his season?
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Could it be a welcome back to the Ballyard Kyle
Pitts type of season.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
I thought it would be because of Pennix.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
I'm a Penis guy, I'm a Penis believer, and after
game one he showed me a little something there. Baker
seventeen to thirty two, one sixty seven, three touchdowns, only
sacked once, Bucky Irving fourteen carries for thirty seven yards.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
They have a big time injury.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
Worf is hurt for them and he's a He's a
huge deal for that offensive line. I thought you saw
a little something as far as that was concerned where
they were hurting in that category. The rook Abuka four
grass for sixty seven yards, two touchdowns, Mike Evans five
for fifty one, Bucky Irving out of the backfield for
(33:03):
eight yards. They're saying that the offensive coordinator is a
little bit different than what was last year, so they
were going to see some different numbers out of the
backfield for some of those catch running backs.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
As far as receptions are.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Concerned, one weekend, you gotta find a way to win
a tough ballgame on the road, and the Tampa Bay
Bucks did exactly that.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
All right.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Now to my final big as far as game on
the board to discuss here in the opening segment, and
he had the best performance all the way up until
the evening hour where Josh Allen and I think Lamar
Jackson finished above him. But I have to tip my
(33:52):
cap again and give it up to Daniel Jones. I
said on the program to start the day yesterday that
Daniel Jones can't throw football. Well, he threw it twenty
nine times, completed twenty two of them for two seventy two,
ran two touchdowns in their one passing scoring and oh,
by the way, no turnovers. The Indianapolis Colts lost eleven
(34:15):
straight Listen to the stat the Colts lost eleven straight
season openers week one without a win eleven straight years.
This is the first time that the Colts were able
to win since twenty thirteen.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
In Week one.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
And I also want to point out that Danny Dimes
deserves a little more respect because the actuality where we
the service we get our drops or all of our
soundbites from, they didn't have any of Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
I thought to myself, that's disrespectful.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
If you're gonna shine the light on one guy, you
have to give it up to Danny Dimes. After that
type of performance, he was incredible. The Colts look great now.
The Miami Dolphins looked atrocious. But more on the Colts.
He was moving around. They threw up thirty three points.
If you had the thirty three score cash Dad in
(35:16):
here on Week one, unbelievable twenty two to twenty nine
two seventy two for Daniel Jones, Johnathan Taylor out of
the backfield eighteen carries for seventy one yards, Gidon's DJ
twelve carries for forty one yards. Danny Dives seven carries
for twenty six He had two touchdowns. Pittman Warren, Pierce
(35:36):
Taylor out of the backfield, Mitchell Kid from Texas, Josh
downs two grabs for twelve yards.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
They look good, And.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
I think if you're gonna say, hey, give me one
overreaction from one team or one result, I would look
at the Colts and say, you know what, I think
they could win that division. That division was up for
grabs already. I had the Jags winning that division. I
think the Jags are beatable. I don't think I'm saying
anything that you would disagree with. Can the Colts keep
(36:10):
that up? Could Daniel Jones be the quarterback that he
was when he had success to one season with the
New York Giants. Maybe they do have some decent players
on that roster. Tyler Warren is a hell of a pick.
He had seven grabs for seventy six yards. He was
all over the field. He's got a big, big frame.
(36:31):
We know how skilled he is, but even in the NFL,
he looked like he was opened a lot great hands,
get him involved nine targets. If you drafted him, you're
in a good spot.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Now.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
I don't know if that's gonna be brock Bowers area
last year, but brock Bauers was the main reason why
I was able to have success in one of my leagues.
That got him, No, I got him in two out
of my three leagues. And of course we know what
the numbers he put up. Tyler Warren often run seven
grabs for seventy six. If that can continue, that's going
(37:04):
to lead you to a lot of victories weekend week
out as far as fantasy is concerned. But when you
talk about this game, as much as I want to
shine the light and be positive about the Colts and
Daniel Jones, because I didn't have really much expectation for them,
the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
What happened.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
What happened to the Miami Dolphins is two is just
not a good quarterback. I think we have our answer now.
I thought two was a good system quarterback. I thought
two in the Dolphins would be good against teams that
didn't have much expectation. I thought two in the Dolphins
would be good in a nice environment, maybe a dome.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Boy was I wrong.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
I want to pull up the team's stats because I
think it's important to look at this one.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
How lopsided this was. Again, this is the Colts.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
This isn't the Ravens, This isn't the Bills, this isn't
the Eagles, This is the Indianapolis Colts. First downs twenty
seven to twelve, total plays seventy to forty six. They
ran forty six offensive snaps. Time of possession thirty eight
(38:21):
forty three for the Colts, twenty one minutes for the
Miami Dolphins. Horrible performance. Three turnovers, and McDaniel's got to
be asking himself whether or not he is going to
be remaining as the head coach to finish out this season.
That's how bad of a performance it was to open
(38:42):
up the year. Again, the bar was low for the
Dolphins for me, but I thought that they would go
in there and steal game one, or at least put
up a fight. That game was over in the second quarter.
The Colts were up twenty to nothing. Enough, not how
(39:03):
I expected that game to go. So as far as
one of the bigger disappointing teams or disappointment disappointing games, yesterday,
Dolphins are in my top three. That's who impressed me.
Of course, we've got some other games will hit. As
far as disappointments are concerned, We'll hit the other two
teams because I got my top three disappointments. Two teams,
(39:25):
one player that I'll hit. On the other side, coming
up at four o'clock, we got Monday night football coming
your way. You're damn right, let's do it. We got
some Monday night football back in our lives. I think
next week we have two games today though we only
have one, and I think it's gonna be a pretty
damn good one as well. I think tonight with as
(39:48):
far as the quarterbacks are concerned, storylines are concerned, coaches
Ben Johnson, what the hype is he has going for
him with the Chicago Bears. I think Tonight's going to
be a good game. We'll break that one down. We'll
take a deep dive into four o'clock hour all things
Monday night football. Other side the top three disappointments and
(40:12):
rookies who made an impact. We also got some big, big,
big payouts. Did you cash in on some of the
biggest payouts? As far as props a concern, we'll hit
on all of that. Notice I didn't bring up anything
Philly's related just yet. You want to talk about deflating news. Yeah,
that Trey Turner news.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
Oof. Not good.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Best case scenario, three weeks ready to go for the
opening round, best case, worst case, he's done for the season.
Unbelievable timing. They've been relatively healthy.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
Right.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
Oh, well, we'll talk a little bit about that in
the four o'clock hour as well more on the other side,
all things NFL Week one, it's the gambler, Yeah,
