Speaker 1 (00:04):
But the way we go here on a beautiful Monday,
Monday Monday into Delaware Valley and all across the world.
Hello everybody, chambrace Luke Arcaney with you here. We got
a lot to discuss, especially taking place with those fightings,
what they did to close up shop out there in
Chicago and now on to DC for three again, a
(00:29):
lot to discuss in the world of Major League Baseball.
Actually it's at home. I apologize. I wasn't sure if
they were going to DC or not. At home. Back
at home, six point forty five, first pitch tomorrow. We'll
recap what did take place in Chicago, talk about some
of the issues that are plaguing with this team. But
I'd like to focus on some of the good, Luke,
because we did get some good performances yesterday. And as
(00:50):
I said, it was a winning series in Chicago, taking
two or three.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yes, it was.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
I traded that game last night a little too much
like a playoff game, I'm sure. No, it was good
that that was a that was a series that they
really needed. They they need to see one go through
against a good team, especially obviously after the last you
know week, specifically that in that series.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
So yeah, they they needed a good one.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
They they got a good one last night, and just
led by Aaron Nola, who the Phillies needed a series win.
But I think Aaron Nola needed a good start more
than we needed a win last night.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah, and that's fair to say. Like we've been discussing,
this is his worst start since, uh, since he's been
in the pros, since he's been with the Phillies, and
he just felt like, you know, it was it hasn't
been that bad, but it hasn't been good. Let's just
put it that way. And I felt like eventually he's
going to get through it. Maybe it was the bright
lights and a spot like that that he needed, uh
(01:51):
to raise his game up. But last night us as
Luke just pointed out, seven eight's pitched, three hits, one
were earned, one earned U six strikeouts, zero home runs
given up in that Romano come on down one inning,
pitched one strikeout. So he got the job. I'm monitoring.
Alvar kirk Ring got their job, got the opportunity to perform,
(02:16):
and and all three of them got the job done,
coming out of the bullpen and taking care of the
game and relief for Aaron Nola. So again the crazy
stuff from Major League Baseball, just to lump it on
into everything that's happening. What is crazy to me right now?
In cbssports dot com, Luke Arcaney, the New York Mets
(02:36):
are the number one team power ranked in Major League Baseball.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Wow, yeah, they're playing well. They're playing god baseball.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Say what.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
They didn't have a good last few winnings yesterday against
the Nationals. I don't know if you saw that one.
That was fun to watch for anyone that doesn't know
Nationals were are. The Mets were up seven to one
going into the seventh. Nationals scored five runs in the
seventh to make it seven to sixth tied it up
seven to seven, and then Pete Alonso overthrows I believe
(03:09):
Edwin Diez and the Nationals went on a walk off error.
So that was fun. But yeah, I mean, no, Mets
are playing good baseball. They played really good baseball against us.
They just they just look like a confident team.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
I know. I heard someone say this.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
I feel like the difference the series of the Phillies
and Mets was it feels like the Phillies went up
there at the plate and they got a runner in
scoring position, and it seemed like like you kind of
knew things were going to go south.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Where I think is the Mets.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
The Mets got up there runners in scoring position, and
it just seemed like they knew they were gonna get
the hit.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
So they look good right now.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Obviously a bad loss yesterday, but I believe the Phillies
are three and a half back now. I don't look
too much at standings in April. They don't mean anything.
The Mets were under five hundred at this point last year.
But yeah, no, they're playing good baseball right now. There's
a few teams that look look really really good right
now across Major League Baseball.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Well, we'll find out a little bit more as the
season rolls on how good the Mets are. I think
they do have that vibe from last year, could could
very well continue to carry over this year as it has.
We'll see if it continues. But they have six games
coming up in the next nine nights against the Arizona
Diamondbacks that are a pretty good team, and we'll see
if Eugeno Suarez continues to go yard. I'm reading under
(04:29):
your potential pitching matchups that they will see. They're talking
about Tyler McGill here at I mean he is one
point zero nine e RA.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Award winner Tyler McGill whenever he plays the Phillies.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
What's his number for that, for that award? Any idea?
Speaker 3 (04:45):
It can't be. It can't be. It's gotta be juicy.
But I'll tell you what. I'm not putting money on
Tyler McGill. It's gotta be really good, though it's it's
gotta be a crazy, crazy number right now.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Skeens is your favorite? Plus one seventy five. I'm a
Moto five to one hundred game plus five fifty MiG
yeo who leads major leagues in e RA. I can't
even find them.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Yeah, no, exactly exactly. That's what I pull out the
It's early card exactly there. There shouldn't be odds for
him right now?
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Should I think there? Should?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I am a little surprised with that they have zero
odds up? Am I trying to save people money?
Speaker 1 (05:30):
They got Singer in there at twenty five to one?
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Do they have Do they have Wizarto odds up?
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Just curious?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Do you see Lizardo odds on there? I gotta look
real quick.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yes, So Zardo's twenty two to one, Robbie Ray sixty
to one. Sale Tyler Glass Now, no mcguill am, I
tripping if I'm not seeing it? Wow? All right, nothing, okay,
if you're gonna flex me at two hundred to one,
take it. I might take a shot on the guy
with a one point zero nine era. Right, it's pits
(06:01):
and lights out right.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I mean, how does Taiwan Walker have odds? But Tyler gilds,
that's you.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Know what I mean? I must be whatever. We're live
right now, who cares? We'll keep it.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
You're not missing anything.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
He's not on there. And if you do have a
Taiwan Walker ticket, go get your head checked, all right.
If you want to.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Place Tyler McGill odds, you gotta go get your head checked.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I believe that would say two sche on that one.
All right, let's go ahead and ask the question about
the Phillies from the weekend. The most important thing that
somebody needs to know from the series against the Chicago Cubs.
Of course, they played three out there started on Friday,
true story, Saturday afternoon, had a little bit of an
early start. Got home. Uh yeah, Friday, we were all out.
(06:47):
We were running around like maniacs on Friday. Saturday, I
get home, put the TV on. I had no idea.
I was watching the replay from Friday. So I'm sitting
there going low. The Cubs are Phillies are terrible, and
I'm just like falling asleep. Wake up. Game ends. I
text the group. I'm like, well, Phil suck and then
(07:08):
everyone's like, what are you talking about. They haven't played yet.
I'm like, oh, it was deleted.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
So it was again with the same pitcher as the
pitch last night.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I didn't get an opportunity to watch the Friday game,
so it was all new to me and it was ugly.
So but they bounced back in a big way. Saturday victory,
Sunday victory. Here one big thing from from the for
the people out there that might have missed the Phil
series against the Cubs this weekend.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, right now, I'd say I thought it was a
really good series. From the bullpen, I think top to bottom,
I thought it was really good.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
I never sold any of my stock. I bought a
lot in the off season. I'm still buying anybody that
anybody wants. Jordan Romano that what we saw last night
was the twenty twenty one Jordan Ramana that the Phillies
hoped they had the issue with Jordan Romano at some point,
(08:05):
and the he's only a two pitch pitcher. When you're
a two pitch pitcher, if one pitch isn't working, there's
a very good chance the other pitch isn't working.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
So his fastball to slider sort.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Of, I would say comparison this year hasn't been great.
He had everything working last night. He was sitting around
ninety six ninety seven on the fastball. He had a
ton of bite on the slider. Being able to bring
him into a game uffiningly against the Cubs and getting
through that and logging. I believe his first saves a
(08:41):
Philly that was really big for him last night. I
think it was big, and I love that Rob Thompson
gave him the chance and still had the confidence in him.
I'm really happy that he didn't try and go to
like a Jose Ruiz there. I'm happy that he trusted
the guy that they signed and went for it. As
far are some other guys in the bullpen too. Romano
(09:04):
looked good. I thought it was a big outing from
Kirkering yesterday. He got through a nice chunk of the
Cubs lineup. He's been struggling a little bit the last
week or so. I would say, I really what I
saw from Joe Ross on Saturday, I think that was
that was also kind of the Joe Ross that they wanted,
(09:25):
the fastball bit and everything else I thought looked really good.
So maybe this series is is some bit of a
turning point for them. Do they need another arm? Absolutely
they I would love for them to get two more.
I will say, note, keep an eye off for Seth
Johnson uh down in Triple A. We acquired him in
(09:47):
the Gregory Soto trade last year from the Orioles. He
made a spot start last year, got ripped up, he's
been a starter. The Philly started throwing him out of
the bullpen around two weeks ago. There's some buzz that
he could maybe be that call up. He's definitely I
think has the best shot, either Himorhage Joe Koonell down there.
(10:08):
Those will those, I would say, are the two guys
I think that could maybe get a call up at
some point.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
But Seth Johnson's sitting around ninety cent out of the
bullpen right now, down in Triple A. His only issue ever,
has just been his control.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
So if if they can sort of get that down,
I think that's probably the call up to look to
in the near future. But yeah, this team, this this
bullpen had a really good weekend and I think getting
to match up now against the Nationals is really big
for them. It's it's nice to not have a great
(10:43):
team on the other side of you after that, because
I think this is more of a time where they
can continue to build confidence.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
This is a game where they can.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Get Romano in sort of later in the game again,
just try and get back into the high leverage situations,
because I think that was a really big, a really
big move for him last night, and I think it
was a huge inning for his confidence.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
All Right, Luke arcandid course does a great job covering
the Phillies for us here on the Gamble. Read them
over at crossing broad dot com. What's the next piece
you got cooking up for the boys over there?
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Who?
Speaker 2 (11:13):
I wrote some Nola stuff this morning. I really liked.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
I know we talked a little bit about it, but
I really liked what I saw from Nola last night,
specifically as cutter. That's that's been the pitch this year
that's really screwed him. People have just been tearing it up.
And it looked really really good last night, so that
was good to see. I know Rob Thompson did those
ESPN in game interviews between innings. I think he did
(11:39):
it like right before the seventh and he said that
this is the best that that's look for NOLA all season.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
So obviously off day today.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
I'll be down to the stadium Tuesday, Wednesday, but yeah,
just getting things back in the swing. I think this
was a big weekend after a really rough earlier of
the week for the Phillies. Obviously that Met series they
get swept, it did not go go. I had a
basically a therapy session on the podcast the most recent
episode after the Mets got swept, and I was basically
(12:08):
just sitting there, lounging back in my chair just ranting
for about forty minutes. And they flipped the switch this weekend,
so hopefully they can run with it. But this was
a very a very nice weekend for them, and I
think one to really get their confidence back because as
a whole.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Speaking of confidence, Alec boem back. He had the ten
game hit streak. He had one hit on Saturday, nothing
on Friday, nothing on Sunday. But like, are we slowly
but surely drying out with the Alec Bowm concern?
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Yeah, I would say so. I don't want to call
him back, but he's started streak. Is a ten game hit, No, absolutely,
you know, I think Boone's a lot of bones issue
early in the year is and I know we talked
about this. People don't like to hear this, but a
good portion of the Phillies was just them getting unlucky.
(13:02):
And yes, they weren't getting the runs in. It's completely fair.
I'm not saying they were hitting good early in the year,
but there were so many balls that were just ripped
line drives the fielders were making crazy plays on and
balls that should have got through the hole and.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Didn't, and just stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
I mean last night last night, Nick Castianos in that
ninth inning when he hit that ball and he needed
a foot more to hit a two run homer. That
basically described the Phillies offense for the last two weeks.
But I think Bone's starting to find it. He's been
hitting the ball really hard to start the year. I
think it's really just been some luck. Obviously, he's still
(13:44):
driving the ball into the.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Ground a lot.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
I believe he leads major League Baseball and ground in
the double plays, which he was up there last year too.
That's always just been the rough part of his game
is he just hits a lot of ground balls. But no,
I think he's he's continuing to hit the ball hard
and they're just just now they're falling, and I mean
that's kind of all you can wish for.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Hopefully once again they get back.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Uh. He He's actually always hit pretty well against the Nationals,
so hopefully this is a series where he can continue
to get going. But yeah, no, it's been There's been
a lot of guys that have really been been going. Obviously,
Stott has been everything you've ever wanted out of a
leadoff hitter. Since he's there, He's he's hitting over three
hundred too, since he's been in the leadoff spot. He
(14:32):
has on his on base percentage to lead off game
is over five hundred right now, So he's been he's been.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Really good in the leadoff spot so far. Him.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I thought the few weeks have been really good for
Max Kepler. He's continued to hit the ball really hard.
He obviously had the home run on Saturday. He continues
to get on base, hit the ball really hard, shore
run through a bit of a slump a bit, but
obviously he he cut it a little close last night
with the on base streak. He was over four going
(15:05):
into the ninth inning, and he did draw a walk
in the ninth inning. He's now been on base thirty
four straight regular season games, dating back to the middle
of September last season.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
So yeah, I mean, listen, I don't want to say they're.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Completely back, you know, cause it's because it's been two games,
but there's been a lot more positive signs over last
you know, forty eight hours than there has been negative.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
All Right, once again, Luke will be down at the
Ballyard tomorrow and on Wednesday, so look to hear more
from him, of course on the daily Ticket throughout the
course of the week. All right, Just to update world
of Major League Baseball standings wise, Yankees currently at the
top of the Al East at seventeen eleven, Boston sixteen
and fourteen, Tampa Bay fourteen fourteen, Toronto thirteen fifteen, Baltimore
(15:52):
ten and seventeen, so kind of jumbled up there. I'll
just go through the divisions, Detroit on top of the
Central eighteen and ten, Cleveland fifteen twelve right behind them,
West Seattle sixteen and twelve, Texas fifteen and thirteen kind
of jumbled up there as well. Basically every division has
jumbled up this early into the season. Of course, we
(16:12):
already talked about the Mets nineteen and nine, nineteen and
nine with that record, and of course that was a
tough loss yesterday, so you could you better if they
were sitting at twenty and eight, that'd be really intriguing
for Mets fans perspective to the Central, I love it
the Cubs, they're on top and the Mets. The Phillies
just went out there and took to a three. So
seventeen and twelve for the Cubbies, Cincinnati a lot of
(16:33):
surprise right now for some people out there. Fifteen and thirteen,
and then over to the West, which is going to
continue to separate itself with of course it being top
heavy as well. San Francisco nineteen and ten, Padres seventeen, eleven,
Dodgers eighteen and ten. Tyler Glass now injured, could very
well be significant injury. Got a feel for the guy,
(16:54):
but he was supposed to be pretty big in that rotation,
and in coming up a big series for that division.
You got San Diego and the Giants. But man, the
Giants at top of the West. I don't care if
it's April twenty eight. Nobody had that looke.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Nobody, No, I certainly didn't. I think I've said this
to you multiple times now. I still don't expect the
Giants to make the playoffs, but they are off to
a hot start. And I do want to touch on
the glass now thing because I'm not one for always
taking victory laps, and this doesn't mean that this is
(17:30):
a victory lap. But I put a tweet out about
three months ago saying after even with the Dodgers' rotation,
that I said, the Phillies have the best starting rotation
in baseball, and a lot of people said Dodgers, Dodgers, Dodgers,
and I kept saying, it's just been years and years
of them not being able to stay healthy, and we've
seen it early already.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
That's a big, big loss for them.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Obviously, They've got an awesome season so far from Yamamoto Sasaki.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
While he had a rough start, he's starting to turn
it around. I'm I'm not worried about him at all.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
But it's just the matter of the Dodgers rotation staying
healthy that that's really it for them. I did want
to throw throw some flat on it on a certain
GM here.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Blake Blake Snell is hurt, he's done or it's not done.
Excuse me, he's out for a little while. Uh yeah,
a lot of injuries for that rotation. It's something that's
plagued them. But again, they won it last year, so
you know, what else can we say in April here,
But it's definitely something that has my attention.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
You're right about I did.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I did want to throw a little flak on a
certain general manager here, and it's the general manager of
the Baltimore Orioles. This is a team that I screamed
about all off season. I begged the general manager of
the Baltimore Orioles to do something because they have a sick,
young core and just absolutely zero pitching. And they they
(18:58):
didn't sign a single play worth noting this offseason, and
they let Santandre walk and they let Burns walk, and
those Orioles fans are not happy right now.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
They are they are ten and they are ten and seventeen.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
They are at the bottom of the AL East and
it's just been an absolute disaster season for them so far.
I mean, Dean Kramer is a guy in their rotation
who's around like the number three starter. He has a
seven ERA. Zach Efflin's really been one of their only
good starting pitchers. He has their lowest RA at three flat.
(19:33):
Everyone else five e R. Charlie Morton's ERA is over ten,
Dean Kramer seven. They they just put nothing into this team.
And with a team with Gunner Henderson and Adlie Rutchman
and Jackson Holliday and Cedric Mullins like they have a
good core there, like Jordan Westberg, Ryan O'Hearn, they they
(19:54):
have a good core there. They just did nothing, and
the fans are starting to be really really upset about it.
I was looking at the replies to their up tweet yesterday,
man that it is brutal. Just it's a shame because
that was a team that had a lot of potential
with a good core, and they haven't been aggressive at
(20:17):
the trade deadline in the past.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
I don't know what would change this year.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
It's just a team that I thought last year I
had them in the World Series against the Phillies last year,
and now it's they're almost ten games under five hundred
heading into the season and there's a chance they could
turn a cellar at this deadline.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Yeah, it's it's disappointing. It's really disappointing because of the
as you pointed out, the farm that they have, the
players that have been coming through. It's a franchise that
hasn't competed in forever. Finally they get something, a sliver
of hope and that Baltimore in Baltimore's Live Man, Baltimore's
a fun time. I caught them playing last year, went
(20:58):
to a game last year. Is all them, And you know,
it would be cool to see somebody else in that
division go out there and take it from the Yankees
or the Red Sox. And we've seen some other teams
like whether it's the Rays or well, I don't think
we've ever seen the Blue Jays do a damn thing.
But it would be cool to see another team other
than those three Red Sox, Yankees, and Race do something
(21:21):
in that division. But it's not looking like it's going
to be the case this year. It's looking like it's
going to be either the Socks or the Yankees.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Best rivalry in baseball will be battling for that division.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
I dig it, I dig it. If you're gonna shove
it down my throat, make it worth our while, right,
put it on a T shirt. All right, let's go
ahead and shift gears. Man, we had a lot to do,
only a little bit of time here. Let's talk about
the NBA far as the playoffs are concerned. Last night,
Nick's got a break.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
There, man.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
That was definitely a foul should have been called. But
it's the way that they've been officiating the game all
series long to a point. But if foul is a
foul in that spot, Unfortunately, uh, the Detroit Pistons got
the short end of a stick. And now the New
York Knicks are up three games to one. Could potentially
be a fun next round matchup. Whether if it's the
Celtics and the Knicks in round two, I love it. That'd
(22:14):
be great. Over to the really big surprise for a
lot of people out there to te Wolves are currently
up three to one over the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony
Edwards has been the best player in that series, and
that's it, hands down. You starting to see a little
bit of father time catching up with Lebron James. Of
course he's playing all those minutes yesterday and that was
(22:35):
a mistake by JJ. Reddick don't understand that. But at
the end of the day, I don't really think it
had much. Well, they were leading, so it could have
played into it, but he decided to roll with his guys,
give them an opportunity. No one wanted out, and JJ
thought that that was the right call. And still the
Minnesota wins one sixteen to one thirteen. And as I said,
(22:57):
Anthony Edwards has been the big story there. Steph Curry
went off again, had thirty six points without Jimmy Butler.
They have a two to one lead over the Houston Rockets.
That was on Saturday. And then also the joker put
back by Aaron Gordon at the buzzer. Just come on, man,
(23:21):
are you kidding me? As a a clipper backer round one,
what a frustrating way to end the game. And of
course that is the best series so far in the
first round. All knotted up at two games apiece, best
of three. Who will go into the next round. Let's
go ahead and fire up draftings sports book take a
leak take a look at some of the numbers here
(23:43):
and right now. That is minus one sixty for the
Clippers to advance Denver plus one thirty five in that series.
Let's see here, won't get into that one. That's a
little upsided. That's a little opsite. Golden State's minus three
ten over Houston plus two fifty, and that's about it.
Everything else is pretty much just slanted one way, of course,
(24:04):
with all the teams being up three games to one.
Anything for you and the NBA playoffs from the weekend loop.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Yeah, First of all, having Nuggets plus one twenty five
in that game on Saturday was absolutely electric. That was
incredible watching that back. I was not rooting for overtime
in that one, especially on the road, so that was fun. Now,
I think the biggest right now is for me this
(24:31):
this this Bucks team's cooked, and it's obviously an unfortunate
injury for Dane, But this to me right now feels
like the most obvious Jannis asks out in the off
season of I've seen in a while. This to me
feels like looking at Giannis saying, if there's a time
(24:52):
to do it, it's it's this summer. Yiannis doesn't like
his coach. He doesn't have a good coach the Bucks.
I don't think the Bucks are trending upward. And obviously
you probably lose Dame for all of next season. So
this to me feels like Giannis is probably gonna ask
out Listen.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
I could be wrong.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
I'm not an NBA expert, but that's just really what
it looks because I don't see I don't see his
career getting better in Milwaukee right now. I think it's
one of those situations where the Bucks have a chance
to be very average next year. As far as Nick Pistons,
that series has been so fun. That's been a really fun,
just chippy series. I mean watching Tobias Harris getting these
(25:35):
dudes' faces, whether he's winning the game or not right now,
it's it's just absolutely incredible watching this.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
It's it's been a good series.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Obviously, they got smoked by the refs yesterday a little
bit that should have been a foul in the corner
and and the Pistons should have won that game. Warriors,
I don't think Father Time will ever catch up the
stiff Cerry. No, the dude just hoops, he he just hoops,
and who hoops and hoops. I believe he had what
thirty six on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Jimmy just insane.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
He's just it's it's the same, it's the same thing
as Lebron. It's it's it's just you watch these guys
and you're like, when are they gonna when are they
going to eventually take a step back? And then Lebron
goes out in game whatever three and drops you what
thirty eight and fourteen? The other night he had twenty
seven and twelve at forty years old. Basically they lost
the game. But yeah, as far as the whole JJ
(26:29):
Reddick thing, like, I don't I don't know what you
do there, Like, if you're in a tight game in
the playoffs, you can't.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Take Lebron and put them on the bench.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
Like I get it's tough, and I get Lebron at
forty years old probably shouldn't be played forty six minutes.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
But he looked.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
I don't know how you justified.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
But even if Lebron looks tired, I still don't think
Lebron wants to come out. And I don't know if
I'd rather take a based off that Lakers bench. I
think I'd rather have a tired Lebron than a ready
to go other guy off the bench, Like, I just don't,
I don't know how you justify taking Lebron out of
that game. I think if JJ Reddick takes Lebron out
(27:11):
of a playoff game that's a very close score with
eight minutes in the fourth quarter, I think Lakers fans
are probably gonna be ready to kill him. So I
just don't, I don't, I don't know. I don't know
what you do there, Like, I think it's tough. Obviously
he looked tired, but it's also Lebron, So like, how
do you take Lebron out of a tie playoff game?
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Well, you know, look, at the end of the day,
it's unfortunate because I have the final score in my hand,
so it's easy for me to sit here and say, well,
and they were winning and he looked tired, so Luca,
I just I don't know, they were going over some
numbers today and get up and it's like it's never
happy before. You know, just keep not substituting in the
(27:56):
second half of a playoff game. It's literally never happened before.
And here JJ Reddick is saying, you know what, I'm
gonna roll the dice with my guys. I think we
have enough to go out there and get a victory,
and they needed to have it. Now, three games to one.
You want to talk about something that doesn't happen often.
I think it's only happened thirteen times in the NBA
playoff is three where a team that's down three to
(28:18):
one has come back to win this series thirteen times
out of all the NBA Playoff series that we've had.
Lebron has done it before with the Cleveland Cavaliers. But man,
that's it's You're looking at a t Wolves team right
now that was disrespected that as the best player on
the floor, that has a better bench, a deeper starting five.
(28:39):
Are they a better starting five? It's hard to make
that argument because of Luca Lebron is on the other side,
But man, I think I can't make the case that
the better starting five is with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Albeit
it's not over, We'll see what happens. I had to
Tiger for Lebron and Luca, and I just want to
say the NBA conversation will continue. Coming up next with
Sam I and Sean Barnard. The boys got together for
(29:02):
a live picks and Roll, all things NBA coming your way.
We got two games tonight, Calves and he eight and
a half points spread for the Calves on the road
in Miami, and then you got the Rockets and Golden
State Warriors back in the Bay. Golden State four point
favorites in that one. Two to two and a half
is your total there. We'll talk plenty more about the
NBA playoffs so the course of the week, and as
(29:23):
I said, picks and Roll with Shan Bernard and Sam
Austrey coming up next. We'll end with this, Luke. The
NFL draft from the weekend. Yeah, what is your take
on Shador Sanders? Why did he drop?
Speaker 2 (29:37):
I think it's a I think it's just kind of
a mix of everything. Honestly.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
I think if somebody sits there on the timeline and
tells you it's one exact thing one, they look stupid too.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
They're wrong. It's it's it's not one thing.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
It's I think Shandor Sanders probably got a little over
hyped based on the player he is. I think some
teams don't want to deal with the headache of his dad.
And I also think some teams were idiots were passing
up on him in the fourth round.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
I think all of that is true. I just think,
and I will say like it.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Honestly got to a point where I started to feel
bad for him at some point. But it's listen, man,
and and and I don't know if it was locked in,
but dude, we were one pick from the Eagles possibly
taken him.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Like it.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
It seems like the Browns jumped the Eagles because they
thought the Eagles were going to take him, and then
obviously we got McCord later. But no, I thought it
was I thought it was a good draft for the Eagles.
I like John Campbell. I'll tell you what. I am
intrigued by this defensive tackle out of Nebraska, Ty Robinson.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
He that that dude's a freak athlete. Him next to
Jaylen Carter as has the chance to be awesome.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
So yeah, I I I thought it was a good draft.
I I just still can't believe it was the Browns
after taking Dylan Gabriel the day before.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
It was just.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
You want to talk about a team that I'd be
frustrated as anything with. If I was a fan, it
would be being a fan of the Browns because I listen,
I don't know what they were doing. Granted, I will
say I did like the trade for them in the
first round. I thought that haul that they got was
was really nice for the number two pick. But then
after that, it just it honestly looked like they were
(31:29):
on auto draft. It looked like they were in like
a fantasy football league and they just had to ac
opp and they ended up auto draft.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Like multiple quarterbacks back to back days.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Like it looks like when you auto draft and you
end up in fantasy baseball with like four catchers, and
it's like, what it was?
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Weird?
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Man?
Speaker 1 (31:47):
I don't know. Yeah, Look, we'll talk more about the
draft this week when Mark Henvy Junior joins me. Of
course we're dial in a little bit more and with
a beef up front of course with Ryan Coyle and
Nick McClay. Those guys will be recording tonight, Bending the Edge,
a big recap on all things NFL drafts as they
were getting us ready. So I'll leave it for the
(32:08):
experts to talk a little bit more. But my take is,
Shandor you nailed it. It's like, am I really going
to bring him on? And next thing, you know, as
a head coach, now his dad is coming from my job. Oh,
by the way, he's overhyped. Definitely agree with you on
that one. And you know, if you're going to be
a backup quarterback, I don't know if that's the type
(32:28):
of energy I want in my locker room or from
a rookie. If you're going to be the backup and
I will sailor Williams, that's fine.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
But yeah, and I think if the Eagles desperately needed
a quarterback, I think the Eagles are a franchise that
can change a kid like that and you know, maybe
make them a little more humble into the game, because
I think it was it was pretty obvious the teams
weren't happy with just everything about him before the draft.
(32:56):
It's it seems like the meetings didn't go great. And
this comment that still sticks with me was from I
think it was like a year and a half ago
when his dad basically came out and said, well, there's
a certain list of teams that I want my son
to go. Like that for me is just like that's
a headache.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
I don't want. I don't want anything to do with that.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
And if the Browns do, then godspeed, because it's funny
and that they took Dylan Gabriel in the fourth, Gotchhador
in the fifth, and based off that quarterback room, I
still think there's a very good chance or could be
their Week one starter.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Like you just don't know.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
That kid could come out and look really good in
camp and a lot of teams will be kicking themselves
maybe that they didn't take them and risk the headache.
But for a team that just won the Super Bowl
and has their quarterback and their offense lined up for
the next five years, I am okay with not having
that headache.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
We did it all. We hit on a little of
everything from the weekend, be back in the grind tomorrow,
looking forward to it big day on the Gambler. But
the conversation rolls on coming up on the other side.
