Speaker 1 (00:10):
Once again.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
MLB playoffs off and we're run in here.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Game one.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
We got four tonight, four tomorrow. I be for the
next day as well. But we open up here with
the Tigers and the Astros. Tigers come out hot second inning.
I think they got two, and then another and a third.
Currently lead the Houston Astros in Houston by a score
of three to nothing bottom of the fourth, one out.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
We'll keep you up to date.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
We'll go over some of those other numbers as well
for those games coming up. Talking some birds though here
Adam Boots, John Brace with you, and we will talk
some Phillies a little bit later in the four o'clock
hour with Kyle Fisher as well. However, a couple items
here to discuss before we get into the jail Hurts
conversation about whether or not we should be defending him more.

(01:02):
The player podcast conversation has taken new light due to
the fact that Darius Big Play Sleigh decided to hop
on with Michael Parsons and Yuck it up yesterday after
what took place on Sunday. I just want to be
upfront and say like I'm not if you want to

(01:24):
listen to podcasts, listen to them, They're not my cup
of tea.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
There are a lot of people out there, like.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Draymond Green would say, which to a point, he is
correct because you get it from them.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
And when those guys are on it right and they
put out the you know how hard it is to.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Do those shows stay consistent.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
So when they do do it and you can count
on it, there is value behind these podcasts. So in season,
I'm not here to say this guy shouldn't be live,
this guy should not be talking on a microphone toward
the course of here. That's not no, I'm not going
to do that. Business deals. There's plenty of time now
with the new CBA, they get days off, whatever it is.

(02:07):
Content creators are all over the place.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Make it happen exactly.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
But can you not can you not understand the difference
here of what Sleigh did versus any of the other
podcasts that are out there, Like for him to go on,
just like even if you want to bring it into
your own workplace environment, just like look at it from
that lens. But instead we will look at at at

(02:33):
it like Trey Thomas put out there. Uh, And he
tweeted the following A little earlier today, because I think
this is the proper way to look at this. Darius
Slay hops on a podcast with a Dallas cowboy, yeah
and yucks it up about his teammate who got burned
against the Tampa Bay Bucks in a game that you

(02:55):
got your ass kicked. Trey Thomas said the following former
ego les years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He said, man,
I couldn't imagine Bobby Taylor, Troy Vincent, Ledo Shepherd, Sheldon Brown,
or Al Harris going on De Marcus where MySpace Live
show to discuss b Doc's performance.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
It's pretty good. And I agree with Trey.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
It is so ridiculous to even think and like people say, oh,
you know, I'm a boomer or whatever, like, and I'm
not a boomer, I'm an old millennial.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Just say I'm an elder millennial. Just say you know, yeah.
But man, like, whatever.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Happens to the days where you don't like your opponent,
you know, you got plenty of time in the offseason
to be buddy. Buddy and you go on the award
tours and you could see these guys and I have
no issues with the jersey swapping. And at the end
of the games, but like, we have crossed the line,
and it's it's you can't be going on a podcast
take you know, laughing at your teammates issues and the

(03:57):
game that just took place less than twenty four hours. Like,
no use common sense here, Darius Slay And of course
we know he's all about himself with the tweets and
all that, but like.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
No, that's the issue here.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
I have no Like, look, you want to you guys
want to do the podcast during the season, knock yourself out.
You got listeners, Fine, that's great, you got advertisers.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Money, make that money.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
You're only in the league for so long and not
for long league, that's what they said, the NFL, not
for long.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Now. Can we have some common sense? You know?

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Earlier this week after the Union played I believe it
was either a d C and may him in d
C or actually I think it was Atlanta. It was
after the Union played Atlanta. Nathan haral Harril they're right back,
who is a Florida native. Uh wore a Tampa Bay
Bucks jersey to the press conference. He's an active Philadelphia

(04:53):
Union player and he wore a Tampa Bay Bucks jersey.
The the Philadelphia Eagles opponent for the next game to
his press conference. In the game, they tied, mind you too,
so it's like whatever. You know. Sometimes that's like if
they lost, I don't know what he's wearing, but they tied,
so it's fine. And then Quinn Sullivan Warren Eagles t
shirt to his own press conference.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Ye had the idea.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
So it's one of those things where it's like the
crossover of the athletes and then the their their allegiances
and relationships and all that stuff. Same stuff when I
see podcasts all the time. You know, Jalen Brunson has
a podcast and very successful, very successful podcast, and the
minute Michel Bridges became his teammate.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Michel Bridges on the podcast every day.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Yeah, and mickkel Bridges or excuse me, and Jaylen Brunson
is an Eagles fan, Engle.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Fan running around and we're tyres Max. He's a cowboy anyway.
But yeah, but it's like.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Uh, what I said, what are we even? Like?

Speaker 3 (05:45):
What were we talking about? What were we talking about?
But it's just like, you know what the thing is.
But I'll break it down for you. This seawan and
this is my honestly goodness opinion about this. It's the
money man. There's so much money these guys are making.
Why are they mad at each other anymore? You are
playing these sports, in these games against these grown men
who are all of you are trying to make ungodly

(06:08):
amounts of money.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
And here's the thing. I'll give the.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
NFL even more credit than let's say, baseball players, because
if you're a Major League Baseball player and they give
you a contract that says sixty five million dollars, you're
getting all sixty five million of those dollars.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Yeah, the NFL doesn't even give you.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
That where you know, you sign one hundred million dollar
contract in like sixty two of it's guaranteed and they
got some incentives. You gotta play forever, all that stuff
to get to a million.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
One hundred million. But they're making so much money.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
It'd be hard for me, as a multimillionaire going up
against multimillionaires to have the visceral that they would have
had twenty five thirty years ago.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
When they're only two guys are a millionaires?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Is everyone else to make a five hundred thousand dollars
and everyone's fighting for these jobs? You know? It just
it feels like the amount of money these guys are making, Like,
how you gonna be that angry making nine figures? Like,
let's be real about that. How are you going to
be trying to kill this dude when you're all making
y'all just like, let's entertain these people, let's stay healthy,

(07:07):
get our bread, and move on. It should be almost
what they call that when a collusion where all the
NFL players and all the NBA players and all of
them coming together and just say we're just friends, and
you know they are, Like last what I saw last night,
which I find hilarious, which I knew the old heads
would have hated. After the doubleheader yesterday between the Braves

(07:28):
and the Mets, which that game one is one of
the best baseball games have ever seen in my life.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Probably the best game all season.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
It'll be the best game of the post season for
sure without it being technically the posting in terms of
like the Phillies could win the World Series, they will
not play a game that interesting. They literally the win
probability shot up in a half of innings.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
We played the five posts right now, there's incredible. The
game ended yes eight to seven and went into the
top of the eighth three. Yes, it was incredible.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
I'm just saying it's gonna be tough to be but
I'm saying this where I'm just like, you know, at
the end of the game, because the scenario was, if
we split these games, we're both in. Yeah, if one
of you sweeps, one of us is out, it was
a great outcome for the villages, great outcomes. But if
we split, were both in. Did you see what happened
after the game.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Apparently there was a couple of players that came out
on the field and we're taking pictures.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Both with the one another.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yeah, they might be friends, they might be from the
same neck of the woods.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
This is Braves.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Me's my guy. If we talk about rivalries and we
and this is the same thing to me. This is
if you're gonna say that, you know, Darius Slag should
not be hanging out with the Cowboy because that's awkward
and that's weird, and talking about my other teammates, like,
you're the Braves and you're you're in your rivals. You
are in division rivals. I've seen benchings, clearing brawls between
your teams more often than not. You're right, like the

(08:52):
is Ja Sutley yucking it up with David Wright. If
the same thing happens in two thousand and eight, hell,
you know, like that's the thing.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Man, where did we go? Adam? They got one hundred
million dollars, that's it. They got one hundred million dollar contracts.
How could ady one be bad at show? Hao Toddy?

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Who's making the GDP of seven nations? That's great, that's what.
What's he going to be bad about?

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Where's his anger? How could he have anger? Win? Ten
years from now?

Speaker 3 (09:20):
He's going to make sixty eight million dollars a year
to do any name those countries too, that I could
put a couple of home together. Sure, and all those
people from there are gonna be really insulted.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
When I put them on that list.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
So it is money, and that's it it is. It's
probably right. It's just that's the biggest thing.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
That's a changer because even when I was growing up,
you know, the the twenty million dollar baseball player was whoa, Yeah,
that was a whoa. You know what, we talked about
this when Ryan Howard got his deal, everyone thought this
the Phillies a smoking crack, Like they were like, what
are you doing? One hundred and twenty five million dollars.

(09:59):
I think that's what Wheelers getting just by himself, Yeah,
for three years.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Like that's what's saying.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
He doesn't even play every day and he's getting that money.
And I'm like, everyone's like, oh, man, that's the worst
deal in the history of the game. I'm like, ten
years from now, the six hundred, Like, we've already have
these seven hundred million dollar baseball deal, We've already made it.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Oh it's going And look with what's happening in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Cuban was just on a podcast the other day talking
about where these contracts are going. We just saw Steph
sign a one year deal for sixty seven million something
like that.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
One year.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
And I'll tell you this, this guy's might witness. Lebron's underpaid.
Oh absolutely, Lebron's underpaid. Yeah, the man's making nine figures
and he's going to be underpaid for the rest of
his life. Because that's the thing about the NBA. They
don't even get their value truly, No, like that that
salary cap and that sport stops a lot of those
dudes from actually getting their real value.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
And then somehow Mike Connelly makes nine figures.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
But anyway, but hey, if it continues to grow in
the next contract for streaming and all that, they're gonna.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
And it's the biggest bar on the planet. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Like, honestly, outside of soccer, basketball has shot up internationally.
When I was in Japan, of all places like that,
wasn't even like the hotbeds of Asia that it used
to be.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
In Japan had animes devoted to just basketball.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
You know, the quickest way to get something interesting in
Japan make an anime anime. Legitimately, basketball is shooting up.
I went into NBA stores with Mitchell and Neskier all
over in Tokyo. That's the thing like they have. So
they're going to get their money eventually. But these baseball
players are just like, we get all of it. Every
time he signed these deals, we get all of it.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
It doesn't it make you appreciate you well and beat
a little bit more. My man is very quiet to himself.
Tweets every once in a while, used to tweet a
lot more. But Dad Joelle is not going to have
his own podcast.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
That's what I am sure. Very private, and I would
I'd love to.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
I'd subscribe if you I subscribed, But it would only
be monthly. That like the way Joel works, it would
only happen once a month, but I would subscribe.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
All right, Adam boots in with me here over to
the birds again. We're just having some fun here talking
some big picture items from the timeline that's happening. So
if you want to get involved, go ahead. I do
have a comment right here. STT Network says it's exhausting
defending Hurts anymore. So here's the big question that I
have Jalen Hurts right now, And credit to Mark Henry

(12:15):
Junior hosted a tough cover radio show for talking about
this earlier this morning and sending me this nugget. Jalen
Hurts is thirty six and nineteen as a starter for
the Philadelphi Eagles, went to a super Bowl and has
literally never missed the playoffs. Let me repeat that for
you again out there, people. Thirty six and nineteen as
a starter with the Eagles, went to a super Bowl
two years ago, has never missed the playoffs. That seems

(12:39):
like a guy that we should want to be our
starting quarterback.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
That seems like a guy.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Let me take you this step further, that we should
want to defend to say, hey, he's our guy. And
then the reason why we got into this conversation is
because essentially, and I'm paraphrase and connect the dots, cliff
notes all that here, you look at a team like
Buffalo and you have a fan base that would there

(13:05):
are definitely negative people out there. There are people that
lose their mind. They just lost thirty five to ten
on Sunday Night Football. Guarantee that there was some callers
calling up Buffalo Sports talk radio saying, we have a
quarterback issue. Right for crying out loud, Those lunatics jump
off of buses through tables when they like themselves on fire.
A nuanced take is not what Buffalo is going to give.

(13:26):
You all never had a right, they will never have one.
But forget Buffalo. Should we be defending Jill Hurts? I
know that there are people out there that are kind
of like, what's going on.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
I'm tired of this. I want a new quarterback. And
that's fine.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Maybe you're not satisfied with this play, but the numbers
are the numbers, thirty six and nineteen. He's made the
playoffs every single damn year and oh, by the way,
got to the pinnacle, which is the Super Bowl. Has
he played great? No, but he's also dealing with a
ton of a ton of injuries, which are facts, and
therefore the struggles are real. Now my take is this, Yes,

(14:02):
defending him is one thing. That's fine, but he's not
above criticism. And that's where I'm at because these turnovers
continue to be an issue and the fact of.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
How it played out last year, Adam it was ugly.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yep, that's that's the first thing that comes to my mind,
Like he's unwatchable. You give me those numbers, and that's great,
and I'm and I want to give him all the
respect in the world.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
I love j One hurts. I do. I think I
think the world of j One hurts.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
I do, But the way it ended last year and
losing those games like that kind of negates and pushes
a lot of that good to the side because it
got ugly and it's snowballed. And I'll tell you right
now where I stand today with all this nonsense. With
Darius Slay on the podcast, Fangio steps up to the

(14:53):
podium and he's like humming a hunter.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
I have a bad feeling about this team right now.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
I do like snowball there is some disarray in Philadelphia
and the novicare complex there. I don't think we can
sit here and pretend that there's not doesn't feel like
they're serious. It feels like there is an identity crisis
going on right now. And it's like, did Jason Kelsey

(15:19):
have that much influence on this franchise?

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Was he was?

Speaker 3 (15:23):
He so much of the emotional center and cores that
he just kind of dragged along the rest of these guys.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Because who is the leader of that team right now?
And isn't it supposed to be Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Here's the thing I've never subscribed to that automatically being
your quarterback has to be your leader, because I've seen
teams be led by non quarterbacks before and be very great.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
I don't leading buff Baltimore now, but the Mahomes lead
in Kansas City now, but previously Josh Buffalo, Yes, but
Baltimore previously won a Super Bowl being led by a linebacker,
you know, for a really long time, and that was
the emotional center of this team.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Heck, when the Eagles were great, who led that team?
Was it Donovan? Was it Brian? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:09):
You know?

Speaker 3 (16:09):
And and that was during that time period the best
team in the NFL behind the New England Patriots for
a decade was that Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah, and they were
led by again, not a quarterback really as the emotional leader.
It was Brian Dawkins's emotional And I don't want to
smear McNabb in any capacity because I do believe he
had leadership qualities, But that was the emotional core of

(16:32):
that team, was that guy. I said this right now,
Philadelphia has never really liked our quarterbacks. That's never really
been a big thing for us. I think the last
quarterback we really universally all said yay about was Randall. Like,
we're gonna have that conversation, what was the last Eagles
quarterback that we beloved? And here's the fun part, talk
about Nick Foles the first go round. We could talk

(16:53):
about when he came back and won a.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Super Bowl twenty seven to two.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Now, but that's what I'm saying, Like we wont like
we had all of these conversations about all the way
back from Bobby howeing all the way to Kevin Cobb, Yeah,
all the way to Carson Wentz.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Nobody loves a backup quarterback like Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Nobody loves Nobody loves a quarterback that's not any quarterback
like Philadelphia, because I think Philadelphia believes every other person
all the team is infinitely more valuable than the quarterback is.
Historically with this franchise, how many Brian Westbrook jerseys exist
in the instead of Donavan McNab jerseys in the wild
because that's just the Philadelphia mental. We've never been a
quarterback city. That's never been a thing for us to

(17:30):
fall in love with this the course, And that's absurd
because Jalen's a pretty good one. This is what the
men talk about his pro record, talk about his college record,
talk about his high school record, like this man has
lost probably accountable amount of games in his life, like
like on two hands, accountable amount of games in his life.
Like this is the thing about Jalen Hurts, and this

(17:50):
is the thing about this team in this franchise is
But it's a similar thing to our discussion we had
about Miami. If Jalen's the reason why you're not winning
these games, if he there's a possibility that there's a
catalyst to why this is not working out one hundred
percent correctly, it might be Jalen. I'm not going to
sit here and say it might not be Jalen, But
the idea is defending Jalen is to say that, well,

(18:15):
you know, he deserves all the criticism or there's too
much criticism and we need to lay back. No, he
deserves criticism for fumbling. Oh yeah, he deserves criticism for
not being able to throw from his left side. Like,
I don't know why anyone doesn't talk about that enough.
When he rolls left, he has one of the lowest
percentages of completion in the NFL when he rolls left.
He's a mobile quarterback. Yeah, so here telling me he

(18:36):
could only roll right and then throw the football. That's
a problem. That is a problem if you are a
mobile quarterback.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
You know, Well, I think what McCallen has done to
a point, and I think of only a small sample size.
I think I saw a graph like two weeks ago
where Jalen's using the field. So that's a good thing.
That's definitely a plus.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
It is something that he was.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
Holding him back in previous years, that's for sure, But
I think he is using the field as a whole now.
But the only issue that I have right now is
the injuries. And then you know we can't judge him.
We can't judge him fairly three these four weeks because
he's only had AJ Brown for one out of the
four and when Aj when DeVante was in there with

(19:22):
the Falcons game, you saw it, they got Brittain Covey involved.
Like that's how bad of an offensive game plan it
was without AJ Brown out there. But we'll see, we
got plenty of time to discuss this. On the other side,
get involved that fox PHL gambler again, Jalen hurts. I
think we should be defending him a little bit more,
to be honest with you from the macro sentence. But
where we're at this point in time four weeks. I

(19:45):
understand that there are some people out there that are
frustrated with this place. Still, I'm telling you right now
that he is not even in my top three issues
of why this team is losing. So I think we
can go into other areas before I to get into
a jail and hurt. But I do think he needs
to play better. Of course, stop turning the football over.

(20:06):
Hopefully that is the case. They do have a week off.
We'll see what happens after the bye week. All right,
four o'clock hour. Coming up on the other side, Kyle
Fisher is gonna join us and we're gonna talk some
Phillies with Kyle coming up at a four thirty.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Really look forward to getting Kyle out here.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
He represents the Philly Sports Networks, so be sure to
give him a follow at Kyle Fisher forty five. So
