Speaker 2 (01:00):
We appreciate that, Sam, you were out in the town
last night. I was. It took me, It took me,
and I was like, where was I last night? Yes?
I was over at Villainova.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
I got Sam breaking news for Sam Austrey.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
He was out in the town last. I was like,
where where was that? What did I do last night?
It took me a second. My brain's not moving. Where
were you last night?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I was at Villanova at the Roommates Show, which is
the live podcast with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. They
had a lot of special guests. Jay Wright I was
one of them. Jason Kelsey was obviously the main attraction.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Uh. They played a little sacks. Do you play a
little sacks? Yeah? Yeah? How about that? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
He was great, great with those guys. And before it,
before all that, it was.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Kind of like the homecoming midnight Madness I believe they
call it where they introduce the men's team, the women's team,
the coaches, little Q and A with Jalen, with Jalen
Brunson and Josh Hart. Those two guys ran that, uh,
and then they did their live podcast with loud guests.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
It was cool night pack packed.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Uh sceneing down at the Finn and getting ready for
Villanova basketball season.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
So the coolest part though, for you is what it
was probably Kelsey being up there with those guys.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I would say, I mean I seeing their live podcasts
because they're they're genuine friends, like I think that's the
success that Jason Kelsey and Travis Kelce their podcast has had.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
It's because the brothers they like each other.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
They have natural chemistry because they can joke around and
mess around and make fun of each other. Same thing
with Jaylen Bruns and Josh Hart. So it's cool to
see those guys interact, which is why their podcast is
pretty good too. They're they're genuine friends like they're they're
like they're like brothers and they just make fun of
each other the whole time. And that's like a lot
of times good content. So that's that's what they do.

(02:49):
And last night packed house, you said top to the bottom.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah, yeah, pretty much.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
You meet up with our good friend Nino. We were
supposed to. We were supposed to, but we ended up
getting to meet up all right. We were were taxing
all day though.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
How about anybody else up there? Did you meet Coach?
Do you see Coach?

Speaker 3 (03:05):
I did see Coach, Yeah, didn't talk to him for
very long, but I saw Coach a lot of Knixt
contingent there, whole Villnova coaching staff.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Rick Brunson was there of course as well.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
There's a lot of like, a lot of like people
in the Knicksville Nova world, which is intertwined worlds these days.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah it is. I saw I head coach Mark Ferrante
in the mix as well. Yeah I didn't.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
I didn't see him, but I saw him like doing
a little scene down there with the students.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Very cool and a great scene up there on the mainline.
Great to see everybody having a big old smile on
their face. Of course, a lot going on in the
world today, so very cool to have that happening out there.
And then again, you know that's not something that the roommates.
It was free, correct, it was free?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
I mean I got it for free. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
I don't know if it was. I don't think it
was free. Okay, no chance, thinking about it, there's no
chance they did that. Come on, all right, anyways, this
is I'm sure the funds probably went to Villanova more
than that. Yeah, I'm sure something like that behind it.
It's not like those boys need money. Brunson just got
a new deal.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Well he took a massive pay cup, Yeah he did, Yeah,
he did.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
All right, let's keep it moving here. I want to
talk to some NFL with you. Let's go into the
night's game Thursday night football Bills and a Dolphin, Sam Austrey. Again,
we're both on the twelve and a half, but I think, like,
are we looking at it the wrong way? How? How
is it possible that the Dolphins are able to keep
this close?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Like? Could it be an eight or a nine point game? Now?

Speaker 1 (04:31):
One thing I always subscribe to a theory that I
always book is that when it comes to handicapped, when
it comes to place in a wager, if you don't
think that dog can win, don't bet it. And at
twelve and a half, I just don't think that the
Miami Dolphins are going to win that football game. So therefore,
I can't say that I'm willing to take the twelve
and a half here because of its just they're not

(04:54):
going to win. The Buffalo Bills are the better team,
they have a better offensive line, a more want, they're
at home, Shounds the better quarterback. That is a defeated team.
Will it be as easy as that? Though? Do you
think this gets lopsided and it's forty to sixteen?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
I think it could get ugly really quickly because The
Dolphins just have a ton of quit in them right now. Yeah,
and everyone knows that Mike McDaniel's out of the He's
gonna be the first head coach fired, whether that's this
weekend or maybe last a few more weeks. But he's
not lasting the season. That's no secret. So when you
it's hard to play for a coach that you know
is out the door. When he is, I mean, he
just he struggled to keep that building and his players accountable.

(05:31):
There's no culture they have.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
It's a guy.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
It's a lot of guys that aren't gonna go out
there and fight the way that most people will on
a Thursday night football game. So it's just there's no
reason I'm gonna I'm gonna bet on I don't care
what the spread is. I would never bet on a
team that has shown quit to start this season, going
back to the offseason, based on their comments. A team
that is no togetherness, no camaraderie. This this Dolphins team

(05:56):
is lifeless. So I'm out on the Dolphins team as
most people are at this point, but I'm not going
to bet on them against maybe the best team in
the NFL the path with them keeping it close is
that the Bills have some injuries. I mean Ed Oliver
defensive tackle and Matt Malano linebacker, both pretty impactful players
for that Bill's defense. So if Tua can have some

(06:16):
success and limited turnovers, which he has not been able
to do this season, but he did start seventeen for
seventeen last week. I mean he was airing the ball out.
He had tw hundred and fifteen yards in two touchdowns
eighty one percent completion percentage, so he actually created some
explosive plays with his arms. But then he just has
the boneheaded turnovers that are just inexcuseable and they end
up losing to the Patriots last week. If Tua and

(06:37):
this Dolphins offense can air it out and have some
success against knacked up Bill's defense, then I'm gonna I
could get some hope and get behind the Dolphins a
little bit. But I can't really see that happening. I
think it's the Bills big all right.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, I'm right there with Dan.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
It's hard for me to sit here and try to
play the other side, and you know, contrarian sometimes sames
is a good way of going about it. But it's
just one of those games where it's a Thursday night
game and you're talking about one team being extremely in
a different situation. Uh, you remember, the home fan base
already wants both the general manager and the coach out

(07:15):
there flying banners out there. They did show some fight
in that game against the Patriots last week that they
ended up coming up. Sure, they showed zero fight in
that game against the Colts on the road in Week one.
So I just assume that that's going to be how
it's going to play out here. As far as scoring
a touchdown, is there anybody off or on the table
for you besides Josh Allen or is this a lock

(07:36):
stock and barrel game for Josh Allen here?

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Anytime touchdown at minus one sixty? Well, Josh Allen didn't
actually score a touchdown last night, that's correct.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
It was the eighth time in his career of one
hundred and twenty five career starts, it was only the
eighth time he didn't score touchdown. That trend is not
going to continue. I certainly think he gets in probably
a couple with a still still deal with the broken
he's going to be out there.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
That's not going to affect it as a mass wearing
a mask.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
That's like in terms of your using your arms and
your legs, that's the easiest injury to deal with. I'm
sure I could see Khalil Shakir getting getting into plus
two fifty anytime touchdown the score. I think Josh Allen
will throw at least a couple with his arms against
just a Dolphins defense has been bad, just really bad
Dolphins defense, no other way to put it. So I

(08:23):
think Josh Allen's gonna throw it for a few at least.
I think Khalil shak here might be his guy. Dalton
Kincaid's my guy. That's who I'm looking at right now.
At plus two sixty five a nice number there. Of course,
the tight ends are always getting talked about a lot
on this show.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
But I look at him.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
You know, it was a little disappointing season from him
last year, so I think you're starting to see him
involved from the jump here. Oh, by the way, it
just feels like, you know, one of those games that
he's gonna have success. You know, down the middle, keep
it steady, try and run the football, don't do too
much like I don't see them taking shots down the
field much. I just think that you're gonna get a

(09:01):
steady dose of run game and keeping things underneath. Shakira
is a guy that I would look at as well
to Taling for tallying up yards. I know you said
end zone, but I would definitely look at his yards,
maybe get a number there. But for anytime touch it,
I'm gonna go a doll in kincaid watch out thirty
nine and a half for collusion. There you go, give
me the over all day on that one. Hn is

(09:22):
a guy that I would look at from the Dolphins perspective,
and that's it.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Yeah, that's about it too. I mean, he had a
pretty good game last week, but it's plus one ten.
I don't know if I'm gonna take that at plus
one ten. But again, those are dealing with some injuries
to their defensive tackle, to a linebacker, so they could
have success in the run game. I just I probably
wouldn't touch it at plus one ten.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
All right, one of the better teams tonight on the television,
So again, you know it's something that we need to
tune into and watch. I don't know how many people
be sticking around for the full four quarters. However, you
have some playoff potential baseball team to be watching, So
Baseball will have a little bit of a screen shout
out to ESPN. They're doing like a red zone type deal,

(10:07):
and it's been pretty good with baseball.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah, it's been pretty good. Really.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Yeah. They started rolling it out like last week and
I was watching. Doug Laville was on it, Karl Ravitch
pretty good there.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
They've rights to all the games. Yeah, well I don't
know how that works, but they had a bunch, you know,
they had a bunch.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
That's the perfect sport for baseball or for red zone
every single night.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Yeah, they had a million and then they were talking
about them. They would go to it. Yeah, it was
very red zone asque I forget exactly called. But of
course they're focusing on the baseball teams that have something
a little bit more potentially to play for coming up
here in playoffs, so that adds a little extra element
as well to that. Also, did you see Dallas Brayden,
who calls the games for the A's.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
This was crazy. He caught a foul ball. Normally, like
what are we talking about here?

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Brace, but it was so crazy that they're doing the
game at Fenway and like he's on that show with
Jared carib Caribas is doing stuff for the Red Sox.
He's next to them, right, and then in the middle
you got Braiden doing stuff for the A's. He used
to play by play announcer with the with the girl
I forget her name. I apologize, but all of a sudden,

(11:13):
foul ball comes back. Braiden, stand dude, it look fake.
He stands up, boom catches it, what bare hands it
and has that ball straight shot back and he starts
going to the belt to Caribas like, this is insane.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
I didn't I didn't see that. I don't know how
I missed that. Absolutely insane.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Yeah, the Rocket he's a good dude. I actually like
him when I see his clips. That was breathing. Oh yeah,
very good. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
The Rocket stood me up though. One time he was
supposed to come on the show.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Do you know really big it's a big time deal. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
I mean he has a lot of follows. He was
a barstool before correct I've really seen anything.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
DraftKings in and I was like, oh, I have an opportunity
to get him on, and I had a nice little insert.
The next day he's like, They're like, yeah, he's he's
on the move. I'm sorry, and I'm like, oh, thanks, sorry,
I'm live. I appreciate it, but smooth, Yeah, what are
you gonna do? All right, So here's the deal. Let's
keep it moving NFL Week three. As far as teams
that need to be panicking oh and two, sam Osti,
you're gonna hear a lot about this and the reason

(12:09):
why this is put out this morning on ESPN, and
it's eye popping because this is the reality of where
we're at for teams that are owing two. Since two thousand,
there have been one hundred and fourteen cases of a
team starting oh and three and making the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
And that has.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Happened one time. Who wasn't It was the Houston Texans
in twenty eighteen. Wow, if you start oh and three,
you don't make the playoffs. It's that simple.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
We're talking about one team since two thousand, out of
one hundred and fourteen, one hundred and eighteen, whatever the
number was, instances for possibility of that happening. Here we
are now with a number of good teams that are
oh in two. A number of good teams, well, maybe
good teams is a stretch, but we do have some
teams that should be.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Playing a little bit better that are oh and two.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
And you know where I'm going immediately, And I have
to look at the Chiefs, and the Chiefs are zero
and two with all the expectations in the world. And
I keep hearing about how this is a get right
spot for the Kansas City Chiefs. Take it down the
New York Giants, I mean, oh, by the way, a
place that they have not won, and I forget what else.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
It's forever. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think they
ever have.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Six point spread Sunday Night Football, eight twenty am. I
out of my mind to believe that the New York
Giants are the side in this game. They might be
the side at plus six, but remember, I'm not batting them.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
If I don't think they can win, I think the
Giants can win. They're not winning this football game.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
The Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahoms are not starting
zero to three, especially against a team that finds ways
to lose football games. What we saw last week, there's
no reason that game should have gone to overtime. The
Cowboy should have won. The Giants should be one on
one right now. The Giants find ways to lose FOOTB games.
And as good as Russell Wilson was, you know, he's
always due for a bad turnover. It doesn't matter if

(14:05):
the if the game has to go to overtime, it's coming,
and that bad turnover came. Russell Wilson was great. I mean,
he slung the ball really well.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
He was.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
He was incredible. And Malik Nighbors obviously one of He's
become one of the best receivers in the league really
at this point in the second season. But they're not
beating the Kansas City Chiefs. Plus six. Yeah, maybe it's
an intriguing number. But after I bet on the Giants
week one against the Commanders, a team that I've been
I'm fading all year the Commanders. How disappointing that Giants
team was. I think last week was more of a

(14:34):
fluke and maybe the Cowboys or in what we thought
they were, this Kansasity Chiefs team is not falling to
zero and three.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Why is this game also on Sunday night football?

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Yeah, they're always on the prime time When is the
NFL gonna learn if no one wants to see the.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Giants on primetime football?

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Even with Jackson Dart.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Jackson Dart's not playing, I know, but what if he
was not yet? If he's some superstar short.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Us, it's russ let Russ cook Son.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Flip brush the cook that that was. That game was
an anomaly. By the way, last week, I'm not like
hopping on the rust train. All the Sunden he played
outstanding probably two years. Yeah, Cowboys are awful. Their past
defense is ridiculously bad.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Man. That's why the Eagles should have done a little
bit better.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
But well they did in the first half. They were
move the ball down the field with ease in the
first half. Light and delay happens.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Things change. You're right about that.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Well, look as far as the other teams that are
oh and two Texans, they have a game against the
Jags coming up here. Are they going to drop the
oh and three? In your mind, I could see that
it's a point and a half spread. Game is in Jacksonville.
Houston could drop to oh and two or oh and three.
According to sam Ostria, I'm not here to argue that either.
I like the Jags, but it's interesting because like the Texans.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yeah, I mean, you can make the.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Case about that with the Chiefs as well, they should
be better than what their record is. I'll be only
two games in the season. Bears are also oh and two.
Next opponent the Cowboys. The number on that one and
it's a pick them, and it's uh.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
That should be a pick. That's a toss up a
game as you could get fifty.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
And a half as your number on that one too.
The Panthers oh and two. I don't think we're talking
about them making the playoffs. Are they gonna drop the
O and three against the Falcons?

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (16:10):
I think the Falcons would that division this year. I
had them winning it. Jets, they're running who's their backup?
Because Justin Fields is not in there? I know who
is the officially out? Yeah, he's officially out. Hi, thank you, Taylors.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
So he's getting the start. They're taking on the Bucks.
Good luck on that. They're taking on the Bucks at
Tampa Bay. Let's see on that line, cheeze man. The
Bucks hosting the Jets seven only a touchdown. I would
probably give that all day as far as the Jets
are concerned. There, the Titans are owing to no surprise
rookie quarterback. The Saints are owing two, taking on the Seahawks. Next,

(16:44):
Browns are own two and they got the Packers. Good
luck there. And as I said, the Giants and the Dolphins,
Giants are.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Both owing to as well.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
So the battle of the and two teams on Sunday
Night football. Do you have a play for Survivor this week?

Speaker 3 (16:57):
I'm between two right now, and I don't know which
way I'm going yet, But Chiefs are consideration, that's one
of them, and the other one is the Packers.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
I believe, yes, the Packers are the Chiefs. Those are
the two ways I'm leaning. I think I'm gonna go Chiefs,
So I'd like to hold the Packers. Man, I might
be rooting against you on Sunday Night. I might be
pulling for the Giants here. I might be taking the
Giants plus six. I had the Steelers and Survivor, so
I was like, we could both come out on top
of it. That's true. Yeah, it's true.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I had the Steelers and Survivor Week one, of course,
barely escaped that game against the Jets, and then last
week had the Cowboys and Survivor. When I thought I
was done, speak, should Giants go up late and the
Cowboys come back Brandon Aubrey drills a sixty five yard
field goal and the Cowboys end up winning in overtime.
So I've escaped survivor. I should have been out of
this tournament by now. So week three, I don't think

(17:51):
I'm gonna play it close. I mean, there's a lot
there's not a lot of easy winners on this board. No,
but I think the Chiefs are that, and so I'm
gonna go with the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Just staying loose with a after that advance, good grief.
I still have no idea how we're able to advance
in that one, how they were able to get the
ball to midfield and kick the tying field goal, which, oh,
by the way, Aubrey is just He's a weapon.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
He's unbelievable. He might be the best player on our team.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Definitely, definitely not a competition, but definitely all.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Right, Thursday Night Football once again.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Twelve and a half is your numbers here on Draftings Sportsbook,
New Year'sers, Brace promo code.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Let him know that you're listening to us.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
It's hard to look at anything other than Josh Allen
anytime touchdown.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
We like Shakira.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
I'm going to go over his total yards thirty nine
and a half. I also like Kincaid to score a
touchdown at the tight end position, and if I'm looking
at anything, eight Chan is a guy that I would
like to take a swing at potentially as far as
receptions or receiving yards.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
They like to get him involved.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
And as Sam has pointed out, the Bills are dealing
with a couple different injuries, specifically with Milano at the
linebacker position, so that could hamper them there. As far
as coverage is concerned. For back out of the backfield,
he's pretty darn good at what he does as well.
All Right, let's get out over to college football, though,
if you would not mind, and let's talk about some
of the matchups. As far as the card is concerned,

(19:10):
we do have a game tonight. Not much of an
opinion on Rice in Charlotte. I don't know about you, Sam,
you got to play for us in Rice in Charlotte.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
I don't put Matt Berry is there once again at Charlotte.
Dude city, the queen City. You can't pass up a
trip to Charlotte.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Yeah, I don't really have a play on that one
cleanest city that I've I've always said Charlotte is like
a fake city for me.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
I love Charlotte. It's not the cleanest I've ever been.
You've ever been in DC? You say DC's cleaner?

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Yeah, And also I'd say Boston's cleaner. I've never been
a Boston. Austin's clean. Yeah, it's like weirdly clean. I
don't like how clean it is. I prefer a little
dirt like Philly, New York. I need some dirtlot. Yeah,
Boston's too clean. Charlotte's like Charlotte's great Ceraman shows ask
it's very clean. Yeah, all right, all that's funny say
about Boston. I've never heard that before. All right, Rice

(19:58):
and Charlotte don't have much here. Two and a half
forty two and a half. Nothing's really pushing me either.
You know what is pushing me this weekend? Though there
are a lot of good matchups. How about the noon
kick at Texas Tech in Utah. This game has major
implications for the Big Twelve. Of course, both teams are
three and oh. As we sit here Utah three point
favorites fifty six and a half is difficult, extremely difficult

(20:21):
to go into Utah and to win. Texas Tech has
looked good this year. Spent a ton of money in
the transfer portal in the offseason. A lot of teams have,
but that's that oil money down there in Texas Tech
that they have to spend. I have to take Utah here.
I just am going to back Utah. I think that
damp Pierre and what he's been able to do. Of course,
the offensive coordinator came out over with him as well,

(20:43):
packaged deal from New Mexico. They have hit the ground runner.
They got some dogs over there on Utah that played
both ways the offensive line. You got two guys that
could potentially be a first round selections if I'm not mistaken,
I could be wrong as far as how high they
are in the draft. But I did catch the coach
one of the barstool shows and he was saying like, yeah,
this is the best talent I've ever had at the

(21:06):
offensive line. So if you got beef up front, I
think that they're to play here. I'm gonna take Utah
minus three to get the job done to kick things
off at noon.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
I love Utah too, and it is cool that you're
seeing a lot of guys play both sides of the
ball now, wide receiver, cornerback, a lot of different positions
that Travis Hunter effect that he's had on college football,
and Utah has three guys.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
I believe we were doing that.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
And I love Utah mostly because they're at home and
it's the quarterback battle when Texas. Texas quarterback Morton has
really struggled on the road throughout his career. I mean
he's been there for a while now and he's struggled
on the road historically. And Devin dan Pierre has been
awesome he as a dual threat quarterback, as a runner,
as a passer.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
I just think Texaacs offense has been great there.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
I believe they are the most points in the country
per game fifty eight. But look at that competition Arkansas,
Pine Bluff, Kent State, YEP, Oregon State, who's technically I
mean Pac twelve, I guess still, but Oregon State stinks.
That's really bad competition. So I'm not really concerned with
how great their offense has been. I think Utah will
get enough stops and they're in tex Text defense will

(22:10):
be will to stop them and dampier in that Utah
offense at home.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
So I like Utah a lot too.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
I think we have to be fair though, when we
start talking about the opposition U C l A, Cal
Poly and Wyoming, that's fair.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
I guess I put more stock in the UCLA team
little bitause I thought they were gonna be better sick
and that point spread in that game, that opener was
six and that point spread.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Obviously based on what Utah has done since has been
pretty ugly but insane.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
How bad UCLA was. I still can't believe what happened.
We were up there a happy.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Valley and their coach got fired there I got fired.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
He did could very be well happened to the Miami
Dolphins and exactly what happened to uh Foster?

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Thank you struggle with his name on that one. All right.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
The other games that I am eyeing up here quickly
as far as college football, if you have a game
or two that you like, I am looking at Auburn
and Oklahoma, and I like Auburn here plus sink right now?

Speaker 2 (23:04):
All right, So what's your reasoning behind?

Speaker 1 (23:07):
I just think, look, Auburn showed us a little something
in that Week one matchup against Baylor, and Oklahoma is
riding the high.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
They are a.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Really good team. I'll give them all the credit in
the world. But I just think that this is gonna
be a tough game, and we're at six and a half.
I'll take six and a half all day. I just
think that has won too many points. If you told
me this is a two and a half game three,
I'm probably gonna take Oklahoma.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
We're at six and a half. Give me the give
me the dog here.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
This is way too many points in an SEC matchup
where it feels like these teams are very evenly matched.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
I think we should calm down on the John Thetier hype.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
I know, he's the Heisman favor right now, mostly because
no one else has really gotten any edge, and the
preseason favorites in Caid and arch Manning have really slipped
up so far this season. But he I Michigan's good
and they have a good defense for sure, and he
was really good against them. Other than that, obviously, he has
played very poor competition Temple game whatever, last year when

(24:05):
Oklahoma killed them in South Philly.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
I just don't think John like some of the plays
he makes. His arm. Town's unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Some of the times he's extending plays with his legs
and then throwing these off balanced throws. Off platform throws.
It's really impressive. I just need to see it more
against SEC competition before he really he really proves himself
as this Heisman favorite, Heisman level player. And I think
when we're looking at the Heisman numbers and the rankings

(24:33):
and the odds and all that, in six weeks, John
Matier won't be anywhere to be found. And it's just
some early season hype that we see from John Mattier.
And look, Jackson Arnold statement, it is, it is, and
I believe it. And Jackson Arnold's coming back to Oklahoma.
Obviously auburne quarterback. That's the big story on this game
is a revenge game. I just think these teams are
stue or too evenly matched that I'm going to take

(24:56):
the underdog in plus six sinnatas Oklahoma.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
You say he won't be in the co conversation for
the Heisman Trophy. Moving forward a couple of weeks, let's
just say this, they have Auburn here. If he comes
with that victory, we're talking about Oklahoma and.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
A new light. That's a really look at that schedule.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Okay, Kent State, then they have Texas, then they have
South Carolina. Should be sellers by back back by then
Ole miss at home, Tennessee on the road Alabama, Missouri
su to close up shop. I'm just counting right now.
That's six of their seven final.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Games are against ranked opponents, and South Carolina could get
back to that to being a ranked opponent. That is
a brutal sec schedule. John Mattier is not going to
have the success that he's had.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
He can make a lot of plays with his legs,
look at and the other way to look at is
he'll have a lot of big moments in primetime spots
yep to showcase his abilities for the Heisman voters, where
sometimes that elevates your stock. But I don't think he's
Look he can make a lot of good plays with
legs and extend plays, but sometimes it's just some of
these throws are like crazy. You know, who's not getting

(25:59):
talked about enough and they have a what a card?

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Next week?

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Yeah, that's the September twenty seventh. Yeah, everyone circled that
that weekend We're gonna be live at Villanova from one
to three, getting you ready for Villanova's Family Weekend.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
I want to say everyone circled that weekend before the
college ball season. What is it?

Speaker 1 (26:18):
It's Georgia Bama, It's Oregon Penn State, and that's where
I'm going. It's Dante Moore's twelve to one. I don't
hate it because you know, if you're getting twelve to
the law and they roll in the Happy Valley and
they beat Penn it's the.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Seven thirty white out spots, that's prime time.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
Who you got in that game? Because they're not playing
this weekend? Is Oregon not playing? Seekonds?

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Both there both throw them buzz. I don't like.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
I like to say Penn State at home a whiteout game.
It's like James Franklin has to win. And this isn't
like the biggest game will face the season. He's gonna
go on the road to Wive State will be in
the college ball playoff, but it's like you gotta win
a big game. At some point. Penn State will be
favored by what like five and a half three there's
three by three?

Speaker 2 (26:59):
Yeah, look at lines three right? Yeah? I think I
like Penn State. Penn State hasn't played a single opponent
this season, so like, what are we supposed to take
away from Penn State? I might take Oregon. I think
I think I might take Penstate, I might look like
a fool.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
I might take Oregon, just based off of the game
day experience that we had in the lines we had
to wait just to get in for the pact against
Villan Nova, So that that tells you everything you need
to know about what that experience would be like.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Oh, I still can't believe that's how it was. He
runs after. I can't believe you left after two snags.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
I was hot, I need a drink. I couldn't even
get one. Oh, I was dying, Sam. It was twenty
four to nothing, not when you left. It wasn't Yes,
it was no. It was like seven zero noca. We
were we were thinking about staying past halftime if they
were gonna cut it to like two schools.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
I was staying.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
We weren't in the stadium. How about that text message
went through there? Of all places, that text went through there.
But you know you kidding me? Anyways? Uh, Dante Moore
twelve to one right now, Jeremy Smith, his odds went
down a little bit, fourteen to one.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
So that means I could get more money on him
here if.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
I want, Marcus Marcel Reed, excuse me not getting enough
credit fifteen to one. He could be somebody that could
come in here and get it the job done. Jackson
Arnold Drew Aller twenty five to one. Drew Aller at
twenty five to one.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
That's the guy I'm looking at. That's the guy I'm
looking at because he hasn't played anyone. He was I
think the fourth or fifth best odds has opened the season,
and he's dropped mostly because he hasn't played anyone.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
There's been no talk around him. He's gonna have an
opportunity against Oregon, He's gonna have opportunity on the road
against Ohio State. There are going to be moments where
he can make a name for himself in the Heisman race.
I think Drew Drew Aller is worth that price right now.
It's not gonna get any worse than that. I agree
with that. All right.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Two more games that I like here. I want to
know if we're on the board here. First of all,
Maryland Wisconsin. You got an opinion yet? Maryland's my favorite
plays plus ten plus plus.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Ten, Yeah, I believe it's down to nine and a half.
Actually on Wisconsin, these two teams are not. The talent
gap between them is not as big as a ten
point spread. Washington has looked really good for Maryland the
true freshman quarterback. Their defense is young, but it's been
good against not great competition. Sure, Wisconsin deal with some injuries.
Billy Edwards Junior hasn't played last two games. Number one,
that's a Maryland transfer. He was Maryland's quarterback last year,

(29:14):
went to Wisconsin this year, but he's missed the last
two games with a lower leg injury. I don't know
exactly if he's gonna be back yet, but he's gonna
be hobbled. That's a revenge spot for Maryland to come
in to Billy Edwards House and try to take him out.
They're also they're missing their starting center, who's questionablefore the game.
He might sit out just too many injuries. And these
teams are closer than you would think. So I love Maryland.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
All right.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
That's interesting. I haven't really thought too much about that game,
but that's all right. Another big ten matchup Indiana and Illinois.
The eye by a vowel here. This is a weird line,
very weird. Is this still five and a half?

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Yep?

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Indiana has some dogs, man, it's not the roster was
last year. People are saying it's better. No one quarterback
is good, good receiving cores.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Fernando Mendoza is not Curtis Work, He's not He's not
a better I think this roster is worse, and it's
definitely worse at quarterback. There's a lot of key personnel.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
I like Illinois. I love Illinois.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
I think Illinois is the Indiana of last year where
they're gonna have a pretty weak schedule and they could
be in the Collegetable Playoff when they finished with a
great record because of a.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Week schedules up to six I don't I don't get it.
What am I missing?

Speaker 3 (30:27):
What am I missing here? Like we're talking about India,
does is win really? Kurt Siggs all he does his
win last year, I mean he did want a JM.
You for sure he won before that. Indiana's played Indiana State,
Kennesaw State, Old Dominion. Like we're talking about all these
teams that have played poor competition. Indiana's scheduled the worst
non conference opponents you could possibly find in the country.

(30:48):
They've played nobody, and Illinois their toughest test was Duke.
But like that, that's a smashed, smashed dude, Louke Oltmeyer
is a really steady, consistent, good quarterback. I trust him.
I don't get this at OI. I love in Illinois.
It's my probably my favorite play of the week. But
it feels like I'm missing something.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
All right, Yeah, you're right. It's one of those games
where we're like, wait a minute, what's going on here?
But I'm gonna take the cheese. I'll take Illinois. I
wish I waited. I got five and a half, but six, okay,
cool because I thought that would only go in one direction.
And finally, Miami and Florida and this is seven, seven
and a half most shops whatever. Carson Beck is up
there with the Heisman Trophy running right now, his second

(31:28):
favorite odds on DraftKings sports Book. Florida in a desperation spot,
but back to back weeks. Last week was desperate against
LSU and they ended up losing by ten. Did not
cover there. So here we are. Miami is the better team.
But can Florida muster up something because it's the state
rival and playing in a big spot and seven thirty
pm or is this just another battle here that they're

(31:51):
gonna come up short?

Speaker 3 (31:52):
In your mind, it's kind of what we're talking about
with this Bill's Dolphins game, where the Dolphins essentially have
a lame duck coach everyone knows is getting fired. It's
the same thing with Florida with Billy Napier. I mean,
he's the entire every resident of Gainesville, every booster, every student, alumni.
They're counting down the days until Billy Napier's fired. And
it could be after this week, it could be after
next week, but we all know it's coming. So it's

(32:13):
hard to bend on a team when you know the
coaches is out the door pretty soon. So I like
Miami for that reason. And look, DJ Lagway looked bad
last week. I mean, I was really hot and I'm
coming into the year as a lot of people were.
But he threw five picks last week. They were all ugly,
like they weren't even though you could this kind of
the wide receivers fold. It was a babble whatever. They
were ugly picks from DJ Lagway. He's obviously not the

(32:35):
guy we thought he was. I don't necessarily think he's
gonna bounce back from the worst college game of his
career against a really good Miami defense.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
I think Miami wents big.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
All right, that's where I'm on as well. Man, We're
we're in sync here, Sam. This could be either a
great weekend for us or a terrible weekend.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
I thought have a feeling so it'll be the lasting.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Last week as we went up to Penn State. Is
he gonna be a great weekend or this one's gonna
be a hell tremendous Out there at the Boys, we
had a blast, good times as always.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
All Right, two more plays? What do you got? Michigan
Nebraska is a pretty big game.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
It is, and I'm starting to buy myself into Nebraska.
I'm just Oh, it's one of those things where it's like,
I know, Michigan hasn't shown their best are they capable of?
I think this is a tough spot. So I'm gonna
go with the dog. I'm gonna take Nebraska here. Yeah,
I'm lean Michigan.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
I think Price anyone against Oklahoma playing on the road
there was a good test for him in terms of
it prepares him for a moment like this, another hostile
road environment against Nebraska. They always say defense and you
run game travels. I think that that will help Michigan
because they have a really good run game and a
pretty good defense. I lean Michigan, but I don't love it.

(33:45):
And the final one is yep. This is one of
my favorite players of the weekend too. North Carolina plus
six and a half. No one's talked about Bill Belichick's
North Carolina tar Heels since that opening loss to TC
where they got smacked.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
But they beat Charlotte.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
But they beat Charlotte and they're two and one now
they've two straight. Yeah, against a pretty weak competition. But
they scored a combined sixty one points in those two
games and only allowed nine points. And Geo Lopez is
back after he got injured in that first game.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
He's back.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
He hasn't thrown a he hasn't turned the ball over
in two games. No interception, he's made some obviously, most
of what he does damage wise offensively is with his legs.
He's a great runner, but he's made some solid throws,
hasn't turned the ball over. That's what Bill Balichik wanted
him to be when he recruited him to North Carolina.
I just think as plus six and a half dogs
against a UCF team that's really bad. I mean, this

(34:31):
is one of the worst teams in the Big twelve.
I think North Carolina is to play here.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Ooh, it is interesting. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
I have not thought about that game at all, but
you made a nice little play there or a nice
little description there, so it might be something that need
to fire on. Sam Oustrich could be found at the score.
What do you got cooking up over there?

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Man? NBA season starts, sweet?

Speaker 1 (34:52):
I heard hockey was Practicingovechkin had to leave today because
of a lower body.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Ill. My point is that, yea, it's here, it's here. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Oh, the Sixers were out there practices and they revealed
the new floor. Yes, was that every day or is
that just the Friday deal like type deal?

Speaker 2 (35:08):
What do you mean like the floor? Is that the color?

Speaker 3 (35:11):
No, that's just that's the alternate uniform when they were
the alternate uniforms.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
I think they'll have that.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
So it was like the red and and like the
you know, the prism color. Yeah, yeah, it'll be special.
Boat house Row, Yeah, it's pretty cool. Did you like
that boat house Row?

Speaker 2 (35:25):
Yeah? I thought it was cool. Wow. We put Boathouse
Row in a Jersey.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Yeah, and it was cool Jersey. Really, what's for boat
house Row? Is like an iconic Philly symbol image. What's
wrong with have we seen boat house row? What's wrong
with boat? What's the criticism with the skyline of a
city on your on a jersey?

Speaker 1 (35:46):
Right?

Speaker 2 (35:46):
It just wasn't exactly the most intimidating picture, I guess.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
But anyways, that's the purpose of the jerseys to intimidate
the opponent. Was it was Chris uh what deck was
his name? He got roasted. He's like, yeah, we didn't
want to go with your standard liberty bell and all that.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
What it's his name? I forget. He was in charge
of the designs back in those days.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Anyways, So have they revealed our alternate jerseys? It's just
a throwback to the AI days. Yeah, right, as far
as I'm concerned.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
As far as I know, I'm not the biggest jersey guy,
so I don't monitor that stuff that much. About to
play on the court and then the dramas around it
and who can actually play and b looks thin, he looks,
then he does, Look, we're gonna next week might be
the ramping up day where we hear that.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
I'm obviously they're not.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Gonna say that term anymore after how disasterus that was
last year, but next week last year is where that
ramping up term really began at his opening day and
media availability as the first week of practice.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
So are we gonna hear ramping up? Stay tuned, but
basketball is back. What do you say, We're not gonna
hear that word.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
We're gonna hear different verbiage to say the same thing
where he's not gonna play a ton this year.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
They don't know if he's gonna be ready for the
opening game. It's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
It's gonna be the same song and dance as it
is every single year, all right.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
And I woke up to a new Pablo Tory episode.
Is that is that taking killing? Is that digging? Because
you weren't buying it to the point that anything was
bad happening?

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Right, Everything was on the up and up.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Yeah, I mean I definitely think there was nefarious activity
taking place.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Good point, Yeah, good word. I liked that for sure.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Sure, I was more skeptical of the punishment and the
paper trailer they're actually gonna find through investigation, but that'll
lead to a punishment. But Pablo Tory keeps digging and digging,
and there's some there's some like serious stuff where it's
hard to imagine that Steve Ballmer wasn't at least aware.
Maybe it was like, all right, I obviously know about this.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
I'm turning my head the other way.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
You people handle it under me, so there's nothing associate
or attached to me, even though he was the biggest
investor invested fifty million. But in terms of an actual
paper trail, it's hard to imagine he wasn't at least
aware of it. How much the NBA can find improve
that that's more than circumstantial evidence and more than just
anonymous sources will be interesting, and that'll depend on the penalty.

(38:03):
But it's it's hard to ignore at this point that
there was definitely something going on that Steve Bomber probably knew.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
About Sixers and Knicks Open it Up and Dubai pre season.
On October the second Wow, right around the corn. What
time does that said? Twelve noon? It's a Thursday. We
should do a watch party.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
It's the highest highest day of the Jewish calendar, so
you can't do anything.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Correct. How many days do you have on the calendar
that you can't do anything. That's that's it.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
There's other high holidays, but I can do stuff with myself. Well,
I mean by high holiday, it's like the most holy
day of the year.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
You fast. I don't fast. You don't know. Do you
want to get into it. I don't think we want
to go there. I don't. I don't. I don't fast
because of because of reasons.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
But I'll keep quiet this conversation exactly I do. I
do celebrate the holidays still, and all the people around
me fast.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Well, you can join us via the story. You just can't.
I'll be I'll be in here.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
Oh you could come in. I'll be in here. Yeah,
I'll be a synagogue in the morning.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
I'll come in. Okay, at noon game on.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
We got enough nb A holes on the roster that
would love to be a know how ecstatic we're going
to get about a preseason now, But yeah, it would
just be one of those things where we're goofing at
noon on a Thursday, but they're out there in Dubai
taking on the Knicks. Yeah, I'm sure we could have
some fun with some backups out there. We'll see what happens.
I did see Tyrese MAXI was on the Great RB

(39:38):
Takes podcasts.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
And had a good video over there that I was.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Watching and uh, you know, Max, he can get the
juices going.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
I'm ready to fire it up for him and see
what he's able to do because he's got a great attitude,
good head on his shoulders, and he's a.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
Damn good player.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
By the way, he has put on the weight that
jewel and beiate his loss. So I like that company
and he needed it. You're right about that.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
All right, Sam Austry and Sean Brace. We are done

everybody listening.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Good luck and all those plays one play one win
play one winning play tonight.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
Let's go shakre anytime touchdown. I'm go to fifty.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
I believe that shake here over thirty nine and a
half and secure train and a concade.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
I wish a cockade. Uh what you know that didn't.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
Uh yeah, secure, I was looking at my and don't

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
