Speaker 1 (00:00):
Number one on your car radio preset hand and new
and improved. Iheard radio w D yes and w D
two seven three D Philadelphia is Fox Sports Radio The Gambler.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Anyway we go Football Friday here Daily Ticket, Sean Brace,
Mark Henry Junior will be joining the program here shortly
Kyle Fisher at four o'clock. A lot to discuss, of course,
what took place last night between the Philadelphia Eagles and
the Dallas Cowboys. We got a lot to get into
from that game. Were they a little lucky? Yeah, but
(01:24):
I'll take it game one, damn right. Anyway you can
get it done. The Eagles did exactly that, and they
are one to zero on the season. Of course, though,
want to shine the light on a major wind by
the Phillies yesterday, and specifically an outing by Ranger Suarez,
who has been our number two right from the jump.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Of course, Mark Henry Jr. Joining us right now. Mark,
gotta shine the light on Ranger a little bit here.
Could Ranger get a little love after that yesterday?
Speaker 4 (01:55):
You know, Sean Brace, the Ranger Swarez is my favorite
athlete in this city. That is one of my one
of my favorite Philadelphia athletes of all time. It saddens
me we might be watching the last month here of
Ranger as a Philadelphia Philly that might be one of
the last who knows, six seven eight outings we ever
see of him in the pinstripes in a Phillies uniform.
(02:17):
And I mean, if you've watched this guy from you know,
the last from being a reliever to the whole journey,
and he's missed time, and he's had ups, he's had downs.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
When he's on, there's nothing like it.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
It is just he is cool, calm, collected, the swagger
coming off the mound. He's one of the legitimately the
best fielding pitcher I've ever seen, so all of that
and then you hand it over to the bullpen and
the bullpen gets the job done. I thought Strom was
nails last night, thought Strom straw.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
I want to look it up while we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
I think the era since like June twenty ninth or
something I want to say for Strom is in the ones.
He has been unbelievable for about two plus months now,
and you obviously handed over to Duran.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
He does what he does, great great win.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
I poo pooed how important the series was when we
talked about it the other day. But every game that
we can gain on the Dodgers, every game that we
can solidify ourselves in those top two seeds, whatever you.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
Want to say. That was a huge win.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
It was a game where the offense didn't show up
for you know, seven innings, and the pitching won them
the game.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Huge win.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
A little concerning about that, but we'll break that one
down a little bit later in the hour of it
does it does? But a win is a win, and
that is definitely something that we are applying over to
last night's game with the Eagles. Who you repend? Who
you got Atlanta Hawk? Is that Dominique Wilkins.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Dominique it's a retro to throw back, I gotta tell
you it is.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
It's a hot out there's some great so pad sleeves on. Earlier.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
I went on a little walk with the dog slee
I got back to the apartment, sleeves came off.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Yeah, I said, where's my closest tank top? And then
it happened to be the Dominique Wilkins.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, it's hot out there, You're right about that. I
got into the car, I'm like, damn, gotta let this
baby air out a little bit. I guess we're not
exactly in that fall feel just yet. All right, let's
do it. You know we do here on the Daily
Ticket Monday through Friday, the.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Daily Ticket opening dry, no warm ups, no stretching, just
straight into the action.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Defense number ninety eight, number ninety eight defense as this
qualifiers from the game.
Speaker 7 (04:35):
Whoa fifteen yr middle whoa closed off? So Jalen Carter
the focus and the star for the Cowboys, for the Eagles,
on the.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Front line out for the game before snap.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah, not exactly how we drew it up.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Jalen Carter the game record that he is defensive Player
of the Year twenty two to one. That might hurt
his stock just a little bit. Yeah, gets thrown out
before even I stab. Unbelievable, But of course the game
rolls on. Cowboys took a seven or nothing early lead,
but come on down, Superman gets the job done early
for the Birds.
Speaker 7 (05:11):
Hurts takes the slim. He's back, he's looking, he's stolen
the rung. He's still a touchdown. He's going to roll
sit for a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah, he rolled. He cooked off fine the receiver.
Speaker 7 (05:23):
So he said, okay, I'll take the dance, and he
did jail and hurts, just proving all of those doubters.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Wrong yet again.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
You guys don't know what you're talking about. You guys
are witnessing great nass. Michael Jordan in the building. The
shoulder shrug. It doesn't get any better than that. Oh,
actually it does, because he did it again later. It
hurts the football. He's fat, he's looking.
Speaker 7 (05:45):
He steps up, still looking, still looking. He started to run.
He fot the tenth, he fit the fine. He's into
the lep Tun touch down till it hurts you.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Sometimes you just gotta do it yourself. You just gotta
do it yourself. That's right.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Eagles Radio Network on the call, of course, Mike Quick there,
I think he nailed that one. Eagles tie it up
fourteen fourteen, twenty one to twenty lead at half. Jake
Elliott come on down for the only score in the
second half.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Kicks a Billets got the distance and it is good.
Speaker 7 (06:18):
He nailed down the Eagles twenty four of the Cowboys twenty.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Go and that was all they needed.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
And of course the Eagles come away with a victory,
a division victory, a victory for everybody to witness that
did not fall asleep during the lightning delay an hour
and three minutes. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Later, after that delay.
Speaker 7 (06:38):
Jayleb Carter made the stupidest mistake by getting himself. He
checked it before the first step from scrimmage by spinning
it back Priscott. But somehow or other, the Eagles overcame
a seven toping deficit of fourteen to seven Dallas lead,
pulled away and they have baked the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Oh thank you, Marylyn. I think he nailed that. Yes,
it was very, very dumb. Not much you can do
about it. I know people want to say, well Dak's
bit first. The only thing I care about is how
Nick Sirianni will handle it. And here was what Nick Sirianni,
head coach of the philip Eagles, had to say following
the game.
Speaker 8 (07:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (07:20):
I'm gonna keep all our conversations and all my disciplinary
things in house.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
But we gotta do it.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
We have to fix it. As coaches.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
It's something where you might take disciplinary.
Speaker 9 (07:29):
Reaction against Jal again. I will keep everything in house,
and we will.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
We will.
Speaker 9 (07:34):
Uh, you won't ever get that from me. We'll all
we will. Everything will always be handled in house, just
like private conversations that I have with players. None of that,
none of that will ever be out to you, guys.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
I'm sorry a lot to chew on there. Mark, Yeah, Yeah,
you nailed it. I love it.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
That's exactly a perfect answer, coach. He is comars. So
of course, the Super Bowl Championship will do that. But
I was singing a much different tune about Nick Sea
last year. But he proved me wrong, proved all the
doubter is wrong. But none of that matters. I want
to focus on the game, and we will hit on
the Jalen Carter stuff, of course, because I think to
(08:11):
anybody that watches the Eagles or watches the NFL and
you tuned in last night, it had such a drastic
change immediately following that, you know from the life that
you have now given the Cowboys to the point that
they said, hey, look, we were game planning double teaming
him as all teams do heading into this game, and
(08:33):
then all of a sudden, he's no longer in the game.
So that made their life easier. And they said as much.
I think it deflated the Eagles. It deflated me as
a fan, It deflated a lot of people out there
in the timeline. I'm pretty sure Mark, you're gonna be
in agreement with as as well. But oh no, the
big picture here is this. It's week one. It is
week one, and that was a week one victory. This
(08:55):
isn't the same team that won the Super Bowl. They're
not going to hit the ground running like they did
against the Commanders and like they did look down in
New Orleans. This is a week one victory in the
division and that's all that needs to be said right now.
Now with that, are we going to have some things
that we can improve on, of course, and we're gonna
talk about that now. But my big takeaway, Mark, and
(09:16):
I'll throw it to you, My one big takeaway is
this is a division win over to Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
And that's it. Your one big takeaway as what people.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
Are doing the same thing again. They're falling forward again,
like we.
Speaker 10 (09:32):
Have this revisionist history once you win a Super Bowl, right,
That we won eighteen blowouts last year, and that we
looked perfect in every game, true, and that we weren't
complaining about Jalen in the passing game all year long,
and that there weren't nonsense good storylines with the defense.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
The first half of the year. It's how it works.
You don't.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
It's the NFL, it's the National Football League's hard to win.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
I still don't think Dallas is very good. And we'll
get into that a little bit deeper. It's hard to
win against anybody, against bad teams, against good teams, and
it's even harder when you don't have your best player
on a side of the ball. Jalen Carter did not
play in that game, and the Dallas Cowboys scored twenty
points and every national media, every show is.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
Talking about how great Dak played when he's throw for
under two hundred yards scored twenty points.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Against a defense that did not have its best player.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Yeah, no, you're right, And that's where it starts for
me when you start to talk about the success that
the Cowboys had and they did they ranto football effectively,
and it makes you question today, like, all right, defensively,
you know, you look at some of the stats. No sacks. Now,
of course, Jordan Davis should have had one. He wrapped
(10:51):
up Dak and Dak was able to get away, and
that's one thing that will come to your mind. But
even if you were able to get one sack, I
think they got one QB hit on Dak, but it's
hard to go into that category talk about that without
mentioning Jalen Carter being in the game. You know, he
is going to command a double team and that is
going to free up somebody and make somebody's life easier,
(11:12):
maybe specifically a Nolan Smith or anybody else that's blitzing.
Maybe Zach Bond gets there at one other time that
he came. But all in all, Jalen Carter is such
a huge deal that without him out there, I think
we got to grade this game with a curve, right,
we got to look at it with the asterisk to
a point, right, Yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Mean Josh Switt went out and got whatever eighty ninety
million dollars off the strength of playing next to Jalen Carter.
Speaker 5 (11:39):
How much money did Milton Williams get off a ninety.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Million dollars one hundred million dollars from New England off
the strength of playing next to Jalen Carter.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
So you were already.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Coming into this year relying more on Jalen Carter to
be even more important and even more dominant on that
defensive line, and then he gets thrown out in the first,
you know, before he takes a snap.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
My take on that, people will not like you.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
If you want to get into the spitgate.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
I'm not you know.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
I do think Dak you know, probably said something. Yeah
obviously you shouldn't.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
Do that, but.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
He but I think he probably said something even following
the spit when Jalen stepped up. I'm sure there was
something said that Jalen, you know, I took offense to.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
But whatever my take on it, people aren't gonna like it.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Jalen Carter is a special player, and Jalen Carter is to.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
Be the physical force that he is.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
I think there's gotta be some nasty in there. So
sometimes when you have a dog, they're gonna bark.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
That's my take.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah, No, I don't think anybody would disagree. Well, everybody's
gonna disagree with something, right, But.
Speaker 8 (12:51):
The timeline last week from Eagles fan.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Suspend the books week, Oh just a bad person? Oh
have the bread man's back? Come on?
Speaker 5 (13:07):
That player on our defense that dominated our way to
the super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Correct?
Speaker 8 (13:12):
Eight six, seven months ago? Can we have a little
really memory beyond one thing? And the thing I was
said about now just that was a huge a huge
stage for the national time, in the national stage and
playing in the Game of the Year on.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
National TV NBC.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Now, when Jalen Carter comes up for the next three
to five years, people aren't going to talk about him
being the most impactful defensive tackle in the NFL. People
are going to talk about the time he spit on
a guy, similar to in Domacon sus stepping on people
and things like that.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
That's gonna be what it is now. Whatever.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
I'll know how important he is and how impactful he is.
If people want to bring that up instead, I don't care.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Yeah, at the end of the day, you know, the
NFL is a bunch of savages.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
It takes a mental.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
You know, a certain type of make to get out
there and compete, and especially when you're in that position.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
I'm not saying it's right at all. It's wrong.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
No, you should never spin on someone at all. And
the way he did it very easily, just was like,
what is going on? He got caught up in the
Moment's not the first player to ever do that. They
rolled back. The first thing that went through my mind
is when Hugh Douglass got thrown out in that game
against the Falcons. They pulled that out in Sports Center.
I was like, that exactly was the game that popped
up right in my mind immediately when it happened, And
(14:26):
it was unfortunate then and it was unfortunate yesterday. But
a little bit different story between of course or no,
it's Jeremi Trotter, and I say, Hugh Douglas, I'm sorry, Yes, Trotter,
Trotter got thrown out. A little bit different ballgame when
you're talking about Jayen Carter versus Jeremi Trotter, with all
due respect and what he was to that team back
in the day.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
But I think he got caught up.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
And I'm not trying to make excuses, but I would
assume that this won't ever happen again. And to your
point about this is something that the national media is
going to take. Yeah, Albert Brier had his take where
oh this is why he fell, well, thank you, thank
you that he fell number on one in the draft
and number two. They won a Super Bowl because of him.
The legit l A. Rams game is a game that
(15:06):
I will always remember as the Jaalen Carter game because
what he was able to do on that defense if
he did not step up in those moments. Last year,
the Eagles aren't getting to an NFC championship, let alone
winning a Super Bowl. So Jailen Carter he's earned it. Look,
he made a terrible mistake. They won the football game.
I would expect that Jalen Carter will never make that
mistake ever again, because that's the one thing. He could
(15:29):
have grabbed Dac by the face mask, pulled him down
and he wouldn't have got thrown out.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
He's there's a little part of me that's like a
little soft like.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
It's like it's actually not like a soft thing. It's
more like a like a respect.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
But no, no, it was right in front of the official. Yeah,
the official saw.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
I mean, how many stories do we hear about what
happens at the bottom of a pie hole and things
like that? Like how much worse is like, you know,
grabbing someone in the private part, sure, twistin then spitting
on someone's arm like I I'm not. It doesn't change
my opinion on Jailen Carter in any way. He'll be
back out there dominating next week as long as the
(16:12):
NFL allow.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
If they didn't win, I think I'm singing a different tune,
not that it changes my my my take on him.
He's a dominant dude defensive Player of the Year. That's
I still believe he's going to win it. I have
a bet on him. I hope that's the case, but
if we know the type of game record that he is.
But all right, look, I don't think we're gonna disagree
too much on what took place. It's stupid, it was dumb,
(16:35):
it was deflating, It sucked, and it was bad.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
It's just it cannot happen again.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
So moving off of the spitting, let's talk about the game,
and let's talk about Jalen Hurts, because like that's where
it needs to start. You saw yesterday a quarterback that
is just taking the next step again, a new season,
new offensive coordinator, play caller, not so much weapons around him,
but you know, just allowing the game to come to him.
(17:03):
Nineteen for twenty three. Dan Orlowski did a breakdown this
morning talking about hey, even the four incomplete passes, Like
when you look at it, he was saying that Jalen
Hurts played the perfect game, and I am not here
to deny that. Well, just putting the stats to the
side of escaping and running it into the end zone
not once, but two times on drop back passes. NFL
(17:23):
Network said that that was the first time in his
career that that has happened. I was, like, what, He's
never dropped back for a pass, broken play somewhat, and
then escaped out of the pocket and scored a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
I don't I don't believe that.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
I don't believe that either.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
I see I think people are taking RPOs a little
with that.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
Regardless, I think.
Speaker 11 (17:47):
That's incorrect, regardless of Yeah, regardless, it was two plays
nothing there around the goal line, and my man slips
out and scores a touchdown and allows the game to
come to him and the win that they won yesterday
with the yin and yang and I have a cut
of that with a Jalen and Saquon the one two Like,
(18:07):
this is how they win football games.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
This is how they're going to win another division and
compete for another Super Bowl because of their bread and
butter offensive line running the football with Saquon and Jalen
Hurts doing what he needs to do play his game.
I could not be more happy to see a game
one performance like that from Jalen Hurts yesterday.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Your thoughts Mark, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
I thought Jaalen was perfect.
Speaker 4 (18:29):
I can't believe some of the discourse that's out there
about the game. And you know, nineteen to twenty three
what he did on the ground. He had seven first
downs that he picked up on the ground with his legs.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
I saw somebody say black Trent no for That's what
I'm blogging off. When you start saying he's the black
Trent Nofer, I'm out.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
I just I'm out. I can't waste time on that.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
He scored two touchdowns with his legs, ran for sixty
two yards, had seven first downs gained with his legs,
and then when the team needed a first down with
three the yards the game at the end of the game,
what happened. Jalen stuck his foot in the grass and
nobody could do anything about it, because that's what happens
(19:09):
when he needs a big play, he goes and makes
it happen every single time. It feels like so, I
can't believe anybody's gonna be negative about this game. And
the people who are saying the offense, you know, concerns
about the offense. The offense went touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, field goal.
The field goal only happened. I thought that drive was
going really well, and then take a sack. He takes
(19:32):
a sack and sets you back, and then Jake has
to make a long field goal there after. That three
and out happens first three and out of the game.
Speaker 5 (19:40):
With four minutes left in the third quarter, coming off
of a weather delay.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Where As if you have that fumble happen, the stadium's rocking.
I feel like that drive goes a little bit differently
if they would have just picked it up after they
hadn't been stopped all game long. Instead they had a
weather delay down. Both offenses seem affected by the weather
to but Dallas did a good job game planning for
these next couple drives.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
You get a three and out.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Punt and then you get an eleven play drive from
the Eagles that I thought was going pretty well, and
you get to fourth and four and you don't go
for it fourth and.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
Four at the fifty. I thought that was a ghost spot.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
It ended up working out seven minutes left in the
fourth quarter, twenty four to twenty. I thought that was
an opportunity to go get a first down and ice
the game.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
You know, either you're gonna go waste two or three
minutes and get a.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
Field goal, or you can take four or five minutes
off the clock and get a touchdown and really end
the game. I thought that was a bad I thought
they weren't to three and out, you know, first three
and out of the game in the middle of the
third quarter that happens. I thought that, if you want
to criticize anything, I think that was a lack of
aggression by Nick and the play calling, whatever you want
to say. They go out there, they try to draw
(20:47):
them off sides, and they take the delay a game,
and they pump the ball. Then they get the ball
again with four minutes and forty three seconds left, Saquan
right up the middle for no gain. Jalen ran a
QB draw and then Jalen tried to pass to Jahan,
and then it's fourth.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
And three and they weren't aggressive enough in there.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
Jalen threw it, you know, short of the sixth on
third and seven to Johan to get four yards.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Thought that was a mistake. I thought they weren't aggresive
enough in play calling there.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
Outside of those two moments, I think the offense was perfect.
And then you get you get the ball back with
a minute fifty four left, and like I mentioned before,
Jalen gets the first down to ice the game, but out.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
The only two criticisms.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
I really have of the entire game either side of
the ball is just Nick being not aggressive enough on
fourth and four at the fifty and then Nick really
more Kevin Patulo on this case, not being aggressive enough
in his play calling when you get the ball back
there with four minutes left, because really two first downs
would have ended the game there. And I thought they
(21:51):
played really conservative and they played the field position game.
They didn't want to make any mistakes and give them
the ball back with a short field.
Speaker 5 (21:58):
Thought that was a mistake.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
At Fox Chill, Gambler streams are rolling.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
We got cousin Nikki checking in Gambler gangs stand up,
you damn right. He also said, Couz fell asleep. Do
you guys stay up to the finish? I can't lie
to not.
Speaker 5 (22:10):
Really he didn't make it? Did you record it? And
then go back?
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Of course went right back. Just was able to pick
it right up at like three o'clock in the morning.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
I have been working out at four thirty in the
morning and I hit a wall yesterday coming home and
like I was dying on my way home.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
I got home.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Probably about eight o'clock. It was just ridiculous, start pouring,
So I leave Infinity Live or Stateside Live.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Excuse me.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
I didn't know about that until last night. Somehow, somehow
that I didn't know that the name changed on that. Yeah,
last night my wife told me.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
I got like I was just a couple buddies were
out and I just go boys, I'm not lying to you.
Like I got to go home, and I would didn't
want to. I didn't fall asleep. I was like, I'm
good that delay happened. And I was just like this
on the couch and passed out. I won't lie. And
I immediately went back and watch it. What difference does
it make? But still, you know, I was dying.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
I was tired when we when we got the ball back,
like I did the thing I just talked about with
the three and out. We got the ball back up
twenty four to twenty was four minutes forty three seconds.
So that drive when we got the ball back, I
took my foot off the pedal and I was kind
of like, yeah, I was falling asleep a little bit.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
And then once third down happened and we didn't get it.
I was like, you gotta wuck in.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
They got the ball back, but I think I had
to snap back in for a second.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
It was a long day and we did the show
down there, so we had the juices going. I had
two pops, two Michelot Ultras pounders. I was fine, but
it just was like it all hit me. It was
just like, dude, like if I had a ticket to
that game, I would have needed like a red Bull
or something in stadium.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
You speaking up there, you go.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
Can you imagine how much beer sales they got extra?
Speaker 3 (24:02):
I don't think no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
Somebody's stuck down by then, don't I see. I don't
go to Eagles teams were drinking enough to know, yeah
that I thought it was fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
I saw somebody.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
I saw somebody tweet that the alcohol sales were done.
Let us know in the comments section if I'm wrong
on that. You never know. Timeline lies from time to time.
So but I did see, yeah it is fourth quarter.
You're right about that. But once the delay happened, boom,
I think they shut it down.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
We'll see. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Look, they ended up winning the game, and it was
just a weird game from start until finish. Jalen Carter
gets thrown out all of a sudden, Like that was
so deflating for everybody in the building, Like what just happened?
Asking all these questions, you don't know what takes place?
And then the weather delay. Oh by the way, if
you had the over, I feel so bad for you.
(24:49):
I mean, like, that is a tough, tough loss. To
get forty one points in the first half and for
it to stay under the total of forty eight forty
seven and a half wherever it was.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
Uh, that is just so damn wrong.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
But uh that's those are the breaks. That's why we
call it water happy.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
I didn't end up betting the team total because that
was that was a play I did.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
Like, I didn't.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah, my my one parlay was Barkley over one hundred
and the team total, So I didn't.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
That was over for two there.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
Shout up to Nick McClay. He had a winning day.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
He was able to moneyline the Eagles with a couple
of other plays, including jail On Hurts anytime touchdown, the
best wager in sports, Mark Henry Jr.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
It's actually I'm a little upset he scored twice, because
now I think the market might be like totally screwed.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Well, we talked about that where it was like, wait
a minute, Saquan was minus one ninety Jaalen was minus
one forty five.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
I'm like, dude, first of all, I feel.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
That open minus one oh five.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
Wow, Like when they first put it out like two
weeks ago or last week, he opened minus one oh
five and everybody bet it up.
Speaker 5 (25:53):
Yeah, So I was I was.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Almost hoping he would score once on like a tushbush
or maybe not even at all.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
You know, I bets on it.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
And driving back to plus money going forward. But I
went three and two last night. We had the jail
in touchdown. Uh, and then we also had god her
over three and a half catches on that like within.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
First quarter the game.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
It was early early that got her got us on
the board with that lost. The two losses I had
were aj over and Davante over. I think it was
just a weird game. Goddard got a lot of targets early.
Then they ran a lot sake, they didn't.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
Spy Jaalen clearly, they very clearly.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
Did not spy Jailing at all, and instead of jailing
going through his reads for long amounts of time. He
chose wide open paths to run to, which I support
every time. If you're gonna go get seven first downs,
so AJ, if you are out there and your owner
in fantasy is panicking about AJ Brown and to a
lesser extent, Davonte Smith, gobble them up.
Speaker 5 (26:55):
Go get yourself some AJ. Go trade for Davante.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
Give up a guy you got in the sixth or
seventh for DeVante, Give up the guy you got maybe
in the third round for AJ and Mike Evans, Davante
Adams a JSN one of those tied types who were
ranked a good bit below AJ.
Speaker 5 (27:12):
Go off for your fantasy owner and your league AGA.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
All the breakdowns are happening on the timeline, So we're
gonna learn a lot more about this game from the
x's and O side of things. Of course, some of
the gent next gen stats. Devin Jackson was on here
the other day, tweeted out last night that Barkley faced
the stack box eight plus defenders twelve out of eighteen
rushing attempts. You know the big question mark that I
would have again, I didn't expect this team to come
(27:39):
out day one and.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
Light it up.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
This is going to take a little bit of time
here to figure out what's what and who's who. And
of course there's a change as far as the play
color is concerned. He's got to find his vibe. But
you know when you do see things like okay, well
they stacked the box and those around the attempts, but
you know it wasn't just a nose rushing down. They
were bringing some people from time to time. And I'm
(28:02):
talking about the Cowboys on defense. It feels like when
you start to look at it from from afar again,
just a thirty thousand foot view and with those analytics,
those metrics that yeah, players should have been open, right
like wide receivers should have been open. Aj should have
been opened a little bit more, DeVante should have been open.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
What is your take on that, mark?
Speaker 2 (28:23):
What do you say to that, Like, okay, if they
did have success stopping to run, and I would say
the Cowboys did to a point, not around the goal
line against Jalen like you said, no spying him. That
was a disaster for them with the two touchdowns, But
they did have success slowing down, stopping Saquon Barkley. That
there should have been players that were opened downfield. Is
(28:43):
this something that they just have to work through finding
out what routes are where getting Jailen in his vision. Again,
it's only week one, but from your thoughts after one game,
one sample size here, what do you say to that.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
I think Jalen's gotten a little too obsessed with turning
the ball over.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
It's worked for him. They've won a lot of games
while he's done that.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
I think they're seventeen and one in their last eighteen
games now, where he has like four turnovers and thirty
six touchdowns in that stretch or something.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
But I think he's taking less shots down the field.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
And with the shot he took down the field happened
to be the Jahan Dotson and he completed it.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
It was a perfect throat, great throw, great great ball,
and Jahan caught it.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
I was where I have quez flap flashbacks anytime someone
on our team that's not aj R Davonte gets targeted deep.
Speaker 5 (29:31):
But Jehan came through.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
And caught the ball, and I just thought he chose
Goddar a lot, especially early on, he was really fixated
on got Her. I thought the shipley he swung it
out to Shipley on a play that maybe he could
have went twenty thirty yards someone to someone else, but
Shipley took it. I don't know, fifteen fifteen yards maybe
look good for a nice game. I really like Shipley
went out in the second quarter.
Speaker 5 (29:52):
I hope he can. I hope he's alright.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
It was ribs that shouldn't be anything too long term,
but hope he hope he's okay. Really, I really like
him more than Dylan. I knew Dylan had one nice run.
He immediately followed up with like two rushes for one yard.
Speaker 5 (30:05):
The AJ Dillon experience.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
But I think, yeah, it doesn't concern me that these
guys burned open. AJ made the big play to get
them within third and short at the end of the game,
so he was still locked in at the end, which
he'd liked to see, even though he wasn't targeted all game.
Speaker 5 (30:19):
So it doesn't concern me.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
I think they just didn't get that many drives either,
just the way that the game played out, with both
of them having so many long drives in the first
half that went for touchdowns. Just less drives than you'll
see in almost any game this season. So I think
it's partially that didn't run a lot.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Of plays, all right, Jalen hurts as far as the
offense is concerned again, putting a bow on that side
of the ball. We're gonna talk plenty about the defense
here in just a second. But Jalen after the game
on beating Dallas, I.
Speaker 12 (30:48):
Mean, it's everything to come out and start strong. It's
a new team, it's a new journey, and we got
tested tonight. They played a hell of a game. We
know how they are when Dak is back and they
got their their their their crew all together and so.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
A lot of respect for that team. On other side, you.
Speaker 12 (31:01):
Just gotta clean up some things and they played better football.
But you know, always good to say that.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
And find a way to win. Damn right, that's what
it's all about. In front of Jordan too in the house, unbelievable.
Could you imagine going that game and you see Mike Jordan,
Oh my god, Yeah, that's one guy I've always wanted
to meet Mark, and uh there it was an opportunity
if I was at that game.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
You never know, you never know.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
It's tough though, because there's just one like section that
literally you cannot get to. Yeah, you know it's underneath
and it's really really hard to get to, but you
never know. I might have really put the uh the
hat on and tried to make my way down there
some way, somehow, I will say I hang out by
the door.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
I would have hung out by the door just to
meet Jordan. Come on, dude, I.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
Drove by his boot one time in City, Maryland. He
wasn't on it, but well he.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Was docked out there at the Yeah, the golden nugget.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
May it might have been. I'm not As for my
My father in law is one. He has boats. He
takes us around. He always points out the famous ones.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
But Michael Jordan has the u NC Elephant prey and
print all over the side of it.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
He's got a new one being built as we speak,
which is even bigger and better.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
It's just incredible.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
But yes, I'm sure I will say the defense. I
want to get to some NFL week one place.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
We will.
Speaker 4 (32:20):
By the way, I have every game on the board
I have a bet on, including a bunch of player props.
But besides three games, there's three games I don't have
a bet on. But so thirteen NFL bets. My defensive
takes like we kind of covered. I think it's almost
impossible to have any real takes about.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
No, come on, no that that that cornerback too?
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Is the dizash?
Speaker 5 (32:42):
Oh yeah, that's fair exactly. Coon looked a lot better
once I went out.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
So what do we do week two? Here? What do
we do start?
Speaker 5 (32:55):
The solution is no more please. I think it's well.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
I don't think it's a long conversation to have that
guy stinks throwing the Jacoryan Bennett.
Speaker 5 (33:05):
If he doesn't work out, try a Killey ringo. If
he doesn't work out, we gotta make a trade. So
I think that's as simple.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
No coop over there. You don't have any interest in that.
Speaker 5 (33:13):
I don't wanna. I don't wanna. It's uh.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
It reminds me of something Shane haff always talks about
with O line.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
Shane Haf's really good at uh.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
An O line play and tape when it comes to that,
and he always says, if you ever have a guy
who's drafted as a tackle guard and you don't know
which way he's gonna play in the NFL, you need
to play him as a tackle first, because if he's
a guard and he's a lead at it you're gonna
be like, I don't want to move him.
Speaker 5 (33:40):
He's so good here.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
I don't want to make myself weaker here and take
away an elite spot just to hope he's good somewhere
else as and if he's not, if he's not good
at offensive guard, and you're like, this guy's not gonna
work at offensive tackle.
Speaker 5 (33:52):
It's kind of the same thing with slot corner.
Speaker 4 (33:54):
When you play slot corner and you're a lead at it,
it's hard for me to want to take it away
because it's so hard to find those guys. And more
than ever, we are seeing so many of the top
receivers in the league line up at least, you know,
half of the time in the slot, like Trake London,
you're not not a traditional slot receiver lines up in
the slot a ton. So it's like, I don't want
(34:15):
to take a guy who's so elite, maybe the best
in the league potentially away from being a slot corner,
put him at outside corner, and then two games from
now we're playing Pooka or like, I mean, that is
what we're doing two games from now, and Pooka runs
a ton out of the store. So like it's one
of those things where some weeks, yeah, the widers, that
cornerback two would hurt you not having Dejeene there, But
(34:37):
some weeks if you move Degene there, the.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
Slot corner would hurt you.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
If not, And I don't know who they would have
to slot into that slot corner spot.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
So that's kind of how I feel about that.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
I think the CB two probably has to be Jacorian
or Ringo, or it has to be someone from outside
the building.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Yeah, I don't think it's Ringo either.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
I just I'm not a huge fan either. And he
looks I think Jurian might be the guy.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
He's he started a bunch of games for the Raiders.
He didn't fit Pete Carroll's scheme, so that's why he's here.
Apparently Fangio really likes him. Fangio wasn't lying about a
Dray Jackson, by the way, a month or two ago,
and we saw we see that now.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Well, the fact that they made that trade I think
told us a lot at that point in time, right, Yeah,
it's like wait a minute, And then we saw it
last night and again that the naysayers, the people detractors,
they're gonna point at that, and I'm with you, Mark.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
It starts, it ends with Jalen Carter.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Come on, man, we can't be real with our assessment
on the defensive side of the ball without realizing and
coming to that conversational piece at the beginning of it,
that Jalen Carter was not in there and he is
such a difference maker, whether it is as far as
getting after the quarterback, you know, the quarterback having time
x y Z.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Now with that being.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Said, started, Yeah, he looked good too as well. The
rook boat Campbell looked good. He made the play, he
punched the ball out, you know, and Quinnyon played well.
There were plays to be made though from the Dallas perspectives,
especially when we're talking about Ceedee Lamb and the two
drops that he had, the tough one at the end extending,
but that's a play that he's going to make the
(36:07):
majority of the time, and he will tell you that
he should have caught it. But the other drop was
just bad. That was really bad. So look, I think
I think you and I in an agreement. Game one
they won. It wasn't a great game. It was a
very odd game. It wasn't a perfect game, a lot
to build off of, but the pieces are in place,
(36:31):
and this team, this roster looks good enough to deserve
the hype that we were giving them in the offseason,
to give them the praise at this point in time.
They opened up with the victory in division against the
Cowboys one to oh, and it's on to the next.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
I will also just say, and I hate to be
the ref guy, and we've went a long time without
me talking about the refs. Here the Cowboys get four
for forty two penalties while the Eagles get nine for
one to ten and including the games starting with the
Cowboys starting at midfield.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Because Jalen Carter spits.
Speaker 4 (37:05):
On a guy, including Reid Blankenship, gets flagged. What is
Reid Blankenship supposed.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
To do that play?
Speaker 5 (37:12):
It's not What are we watching at this point? If
that's not if that's football.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
If he can't make a play on the ball, he
didn't extend his arms, he didn't lower his shoulder, he
didn't lower his head.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
If that's if that's illegal, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
What what the future of defense in football is because
that's that was I know it was brutal.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
Football's brutal game. It's unlucky.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
I think the reflic threw a flag because it didn't
look pretty like that was crazy to me that that
that got that got flagged, and then even crazier and
I think we're gonna see a lot more of it
this weekend, Nolan Smith getting a flag for flexing, not
like going crazy and carrying on what every NFL defender
has done after every tackle for loss over the last
(37:55):
twenty years.
Speaker 5 (37:56):
That getting flagged.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
What I just those three players right there, that's forty
five yards and they scored on all those drives, So
it's like the defense stuff. I think they were shell
shocked from losing Jalen Carter early, think of Dore Jackson stinks,
and I think they had some really really questionable penalties
on those scoring drives. And all in all, my kind
of bow and wrap it up that I would say
(38:18):
is if the national media wants to walk away from
this game and talk about the loser more than the
winner and say, oh, maybe Dallas.
Speaker 5 (38:25):
Is posted to you, maybe they're better than we think,
I think that's insane.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
Given the fact that Jalen Carter, the best player in
the Eagles, was out, they only scored twenty points, and
I just it's hard for me to understand the kind
of the narratives coming out of this game, and not
to mention the penalties.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
Yeah, nine for one, ten and as you said, a
bunch of those penalties were ridiculous and come on, what
is Reid supposed to do? Couldn't agree more with you
on that one. And then the oh I heard this
a ton this morning. We were in on all these meetings,
and then they were talking about sportsmanship, Like, dude, what
doing here? We peebe football? This is the NFL. These
(39:02):
are gladiators out there. These guys are out there for blood,
and you're gonna be penalizing for flexing. We're gonna see
a lot of laundry on the field if that's the case.
And I know, I know that everybody has all been
out of shape over the gun celebration, and I'm with you.
They're like, no, I don't like it, I don't want
to get it out, but like deflexing. Really, we're gonna
(39:22):
penalize guys for flexing?
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Now, stupid? Let them play.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
Shrug. Yeah, I guess Michael Jordan's shrug, but I'll call
it the jail and shrug.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
All right.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
We got a Friday night game in Brazil. We got
a big card coming up in the NFL Week one.
We also have some Friday Night Lights College Football edition,
Mark sticking around full hour. Kyle Fisher's going to join
me at four o'clock. More college football conversation with Mark,
Joe Tansey, and Ryan beef Coyle coming up at five
o'clock with the Sikos six o'clock Swinging and dang it
live from the Scranton Country Club. How about that don't
(39:54):
touch that down? Keep a lock like right here? More
daily take it after this.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
From Tusca Loosa to the a Cow Saturday. Start here
our ship christ Store, your home for all things college
football coverage. It's the Gambler.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
Oh yes, we got ourselves Friday Night Lights.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
Pros and college.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
How about that interesting game Tames, but none bigger than,
of course, the Kansas City Chiefs and Chargers Division battle
in Brazil.
Speaker 3 (41:07):
Man, that don't sit right with me, So let's start.
Come on, dude, like.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
It's all right football, you know, I get it. I
mean who doesn't get it right? Like money, money, money, money, money,
Come on, let's be fair about it. But at the
same time, like there's probably more Charger fans there than
there would be at a home game for the Charges
versus the Chiefs as well. Right, not the best hometown crowd,
(41:34):
that's for sure, But let's go ahead and fire up
DraftKings sportsbook Mark Henry Junior hosted a tough cover radio
show every Saturday from eleven to one. He'll be over
college football tomorrow and he's got a big card of
NFL plays as well. We'll dive into that coming up
here in just a second. And I gotta get some
Phillies conversation with you. They're back in action. Take it
on the Marlins as well. But tonight, come on, give
(41:54):
me a play. Where you lean and what do you like?
It's hard to go against the Chiefs here at minus three.
I like the Chiefs forty seven and have I would
assume that this is probably going to be of eighty
percent in most sportsbooks seventy five eighty percent somewhereround that
mark of people on the Chiefs at minus three, making
it too easy? Mark, where do you side as far
(42:15):
as the side tonight with the chief mystery favorite here?
Speaker 4 (42:17):
I want no part to the side here or a
total especially in Brazil. I think it makes it such
a weird game. All that I'm the higher.
Speaker 5 (42:26):
And the Chargers than most. I have the Chargers of
the eleven wins the Chiefs of twelve wins.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
So if the Chargers win tonight, you won't be surprised.
Speaker 5 (42:33):
No, Okay, no, They're only a three point dog.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
That's true.
Speaker 5 (42:37):
I wouldn't be surprised really at all.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
I had them winning the division and winning the AFC
until the Rashaun Slater injury. Yes, so I dropped them
back a bit after that. They're now a wildcard team
for me. But I'm nothing on nothing on a side
or total.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
I'm a little bit more of a player prop guy
in the NFL now, Sean Brace.
Speaker 4 (42:54):
I'm finding props. I'm scouring the market. I think it's
the fantasy guy in me, especially early in the year.
I'm kind of betting on my takes. Really, is what's
going on here? Omarian Hampton over forty seven and a
half rushing yards. If I'm telling people to draft him
in the third round, and if I've done it multiple
times in my biggest league is in the third fourth round,
I think he's got to go over forty eight in
(43:15):
this game. So my only play tonight Amarian Hampton over
forty seven and a half rushing yards.
Speaker 5 (43:20):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
The coaches might like Najie Harris. He's a veteran, YadA, yah, YadA.
He hasn't been practicing on all off season. He almost
blew his eyeball out with a fireworks, so I don't
think he's like the normal sturdy, smart veteran that people
think of.
Speaker 5 (43:33):
So I think Omarian gets plenty of work.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
Apparently somebody else shot it off and it hit him,
So this isn't a JPP situation.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
You know, again, these things happen.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
You know, it's not away from fireworks, especially for a
professional athlete, like everybody should, no doubt, But we see
dumb things happen every fourth of July. Yeah, it is
a huge deal, and it's over to Hampton. I think
it's well worth the play here right now, as you
pointed out, have moved since you placed that wager. DraftKings
fifty plus at minus one twenty two rushing and receiving.
Speaker 4 (44:06):
Is he is.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
He a pass catcher out of the backfield, so.
Speaker 5 (44:10):
He was a pretty good pass catcher in college. Not elite.
Speaker 4 (44:13):
The problem with that, I'd say is that Greg Roman
offenses don't often feature the running back as a pass catcher.
Speaker 5 (44:18):
Now, I will say, if.
Speaker 4 (44:19):
You go look at a lot of those offenses in
the running backs, we're talking about Gus Edwards and JK. Dobbins,
not receivers last year, mark Ingram in the past, a
lot of guys who maybe aren't big receiving threats.
Speaker 5 (44:32):
So maybe o'marian will kind of make him change his
ways a bit. But I don't want to bet on
that yet. I'm more willing to bet on the rush.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
Yard first touchdown score plus nine to fifty anytime touchdown
score plus one fifty two tuddies for mister Hampton, anything's
possible plus one thousand. Do you want to point out
there DraftKings for new users. I know that there's I
don't know who doesn't have a DraftKings account, But if
you don't use Brace as the promo code, let him
know you're listening to.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
Us at a gambler.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
I greatly appreciate that they're rolling out some unbelievable deal
to start the season.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
New users only Brace promo.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
Code, all right, So from the Chargers That's where I'm
looking as well. Hampton in the backfield, but over to
the Chiefs. Am I wrong to believe that like Okay, Kelsey,
No doubt Kelsey's Kelsey. And he looked like he slimmed down.
He looked like he's taken this year serious. So I
would imagine that, you know, we could see a little
bit of rejuvenated Kelsey, especially in this spot here in
(45:27):
game one. But I'm looking at Xavior Worthy here. I'm
looking at him more than anything. I just think Andy
knows how special he is. It's another year in the system.
He is the constant. He's not dealing with any of
the dumb stuff that's happening right now, suspensions, all that
he is going to be in this lineup. I think
it's a big knife for mister Worthy. Anything on the
(45:49):
Chiefs attack.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
My inclination is whatever Hollywood Brown is. I kind of
feel like he might he might have a nice day.
I've kind of been high on him as a maybe
an early season sleeper, maybe a DFS sleeper out there
for the early season without Rashid Rice. But I've stayed
away from a lot of the guys in fantasy because
(46:11):
there's three miles to feed and I don't really know
what the target share is going to be yet quite yet,
So I'm staying away from from from all chiefs angles
of this game.
Speaker 5 (46:21):
I really I don't have a read. I don't have
a read on this fear.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
It's game one. It's game one. Yeah, don't force it.
If it's not there, don't force it. Mahomes two sixty
at plus one oh seven. Justin Herbert, shout out Sean Benard,
oh Man, I hope Justin Herbert, because nuts plus two
two forty plus for plus one oh four. So we'll
see what happens that one two touchdowns both ways, minus
one forty eight for Mahomes, minus one three for Justin Herbert.
Speaker 3 (46:46):
Always enjoy looking at.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
The rushing attempts for mister Mahomes here, and he is
at fifteen plus at minus one fifty three.
Speaker 3 (46:56):
Never mind, we're moving on and Kareem huh still in
the NFL. How about that?
Speaker 2 (47:01):
All right, let's keep it. Let's keep it moving here
and talk a little bit about Sunday. I know you're
gonna be doing a lot of it tomorrow, So if
you would not mind, what's the one or two plays
that you're really itching to give your take on right
now for Sunday afternoons last Sunday evening.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
I'll keep it with player props I don't have. I
don't have too many plays. I like the Raiders a lot.
It's probably my best bet Raiders plus three at New England.
I've been high on the big turnaround from the head
coach quarterback standpoint. I think Gent's gonna have a big
day right away in Week one. But let's do the
player props. Chase Brown a guy that I've been hyping
up all off season.
Speaker 5 (47:37):
I love Chase Brown.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
I got his agent following me and tweeting at me,
Chase Brown Truther out there. Yeah, I have his over.
I'm not sure which one of these I'm gonna better.
Maybe I'll just bet both of them. Over eighteen and
a half receiving yards. Six of his last eight games
last year he went over this. He averaged thirty eight
receiving yards per game in that stretch, So eighteen and
a half.
Speaker 5 (47:57):
Feels low to me.
Speaker 4 (47:59):
But the one that might have my eye even more
Chase Brown over eighty eight and a half total yards
rushing and receiving even every single one of his last
eight games he went over that total. Had one hundred
plus in every single one of his last eight games,
averaging one hundred and seventeen total yards per game in
that stretch.
Speaker 5 (48:18):
I think that the.
Speaker 4 (48:19):
Chiefs and the Bengals also went five and three in
that stretch, so I think they feel like they figured
out a little bit even more of a recipe on
how to win games.
Speaker 5 (48:25):
And that's Chase Brown.
Speaker 4 (48:26):
So Chase Brown overs, whether that's receiving yards, whether that's
total combined yards.
Speaker 5 (48:32):
I like both of them, all right.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
And then another one.
Speaker 4 (48:35):
For the late afternoon. I'll say Courtland Sutton Nick mcclay's boy.
Courtland Sutton over four and a half catches. Ten of
seventeen games last year he went five plus catches, and
nine of the last ten games he went five plus catches.
Speaker 5 (48:50):
Down the stretch.
Speaker 4 (48:50):
Him and Bo really really connected and had a better connection,
and he went to him way more target share went
way up in that offense. Expect way more bonux to Courtland.
Speaker 5 (49:01):
Sutton saw season.
Speaker 4 (49:02):
I think Courtland Sutton as my number seventeen receiver in fantasy.
Somehow ended up with them in zero of my eight leagues,
so I don't have any shares of Courtland Sutton, so
I'll have to be betting on him this year to
enjoy what I think is going to be a really
good year for him.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
I think he's the standalone guy in that receiving corps.
I'm with you on the Courtland Sutton deal. I have
him in two out of my three leagues. Now you
have you have eight teams, so you have every player
in the league except for I.
Speaker 4 (49:27):
Don't know how I don't I have crazy. I think
it's just how it broke down. I had Davante wide
receiver sixteen.
Speaker 5 (49:33):
Ended up with them one time. I have which maybe
maybe a good thing after last night.
Speaker 4 (49:38):
Yeah, but I have Courtland Sutton widserver seventeen, ended up
with them in zero league.
Speaker 5 (49:41):
Still know how it's possible?
Speaker 2 (49:43):
Lord, all right, I like both of those plays. Just
to let everybody know. Eleven to one countdown to pay out.
Myself and Roy Burt will be live. It's going to
feature the Gambler Gang. You might hear from Mark Henry
Junior on that show. You never know. We're just gonna
have an open door policy for anybody on the Gambler
Gang that wants to join us in studio. Of course,
the great technology that we have. Of course, Mark will
(50:05):
be able to join us wherever. But you can hear
him all day tomorrow. From eleven to one right here
with the Tough Cover Radio Show, and it's gonna be
a busy day for us. We open up at nine
am at Park Sports Book Casino Mike Kern and the
great Dick Girardi of course, Kyle Slash Dunnamaker, and my
guy David Shapanski's gonna be there as well. Watch out
for him. He's a young up and comer in the
(50:26):
sports media world. He's in his last year of Villanova
and he is so good, so thorough. I might call
him the baby Bob Costas just for gambler's sake.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
Guys. Look, he's a great addition. He's gonna be helping
us out a.
Speaker 2 (50:38):
Lot behind the scenes, and I love to get him
involved as much as possible into Mark. Then at three
point thirty, you're gonna hear him myself in Beef with
the College Football Rundown Show. And then we got Villanova
and Colgate opening up the season. Villanova football another year
with head coach Mark Farrante looking to big do big
things before they leave their conference CAA and head to
the Patriot League next year. So we're gonna be all
(51:00):
over it for you and it Oh by the way
next week and a lot of fun heading out to
Penn State. Happy Valley will no longer be the same
after we roll in. We'll be out there Friday, Yeah,
three to six, live into Saturday morning following Mark's show
from Happy Valley outside the Bryce Jordan Center with the
folks from Playfly Sports. Really excited about what we got
(51:24):
cooking over here on the galer, especially on the weekends.
All right, so Mark hit me off with some NFL plays.
We talked a little about tonight's game, college football Friday
Night Lights. I know you texting me didn't have anything
interesting games. Is there one game that sticks out to
you more than anything as far as just a viewers
perspective or a storyline?
Speaker 5 (51:44):
In Louisville, you know how I feel about Louisville. Haven't
win in the ACC. I don't even feel the need
to bet on them and lay big numbers with them.
I have enough like invested takes wise with Louisville. Love Miller.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
Moss looked great in Week one against the Cupcake, but
I played really well. I believe in Brahm, I believe
in Louisville. Want to see them put it on JMU
but jmut A lot of people think could be a
sneaky G five playoff team, so maybe it's closer, closer
than the experts think.
Speaker 5 (52:07):
I'm really looking forward to it.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
Number came down.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
It's now fourteen and a half on DraftKings Sportsbook, fourteen
and a half, fifty four and a half in that. Well, Maryland,
they look good in game one as well. They're sixteen
and a half point favorites of a Northern Illinois. Western
Illinois taken out Northwestern thirty one and a half there
for a n dub. And then we close up shop
with a disappointing performance by Boise State in week one.
(52:32):
Here they are taking on Eastern Washington tonight is thirty
one and a half point favorites.
Speaker 3 (52:36):
Not a lot happening for you on tonight's card.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Quickly though, on college football tomorrow, Iowa Iowa State A Leen,
I'm leaning towards the Cyclones.
Speaker 5 (52:46):
Eileen, Iowa and it's just me.
Speaker 4 (52:49):
Last week everybody expected i Was State to have the
hangover coming back from Ireland.
Speaker 5 (52:52):
They didn't have it. They played great. I think maybe
they were like so like.
Speaker 4 (52:56):
Let's not let down, not let's not have a letdown
game that it might hurt them here now in a
big spot. They just traveled back from Ireland two weeks ago.
So I'm leaning with the site with the hawk eys,
I should say, even though they look horrible at cup.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
Forty four passing yards.
Speaker 5 (53:12):
Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (53:13):
An Iowa guy, but I almost feel like the line
I'm not a line is telling you something guy either.
Speaker 5 (53:19):
But this line not being high or surprise me.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
It's interesting.
Speaker 5 (53:22):
There's a little bit of a fade of the public.
I think a little bit with Iowa.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Illinois Duke also a noon kick, really intriguing kick here.
Speaker 5 (53:30):
Games, Watch and learn, game for me, watch and learn.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
Both offices look good. I believe in Illinois a little
bit more. But they're on the road.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
Tough one two and a half point spread total toss up,
all right, and then.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
To the nightcap.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
Of course, we got to get your thoughts on Michigan
and Oklahoma.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
What's the number on that one right now?
Speaker 4 (53:49):
Four and a half right now is what I'm seeing.
I'm on the Stoners boomer sooner. I think there's a
chance this is an eight to ten point spread. In
a couple of weeks after we saw a little bit
more of them, Oklahoma has got a really difficult schedule.
I still think they're probably only a six or seven
win team, but I think Michigan's a sevenish win team.
They lost so much NFL talent last year. People aren't
everybody knows how much talent they lost after winning the title.
(54:10):
People aren't realizing how much the talent they lost last year.
Will Johnson was a top pick, Mason Graham a top
five pick, Colston Loveland a top ten pick. They lost
a ton of guys on the trenches as well. New
Mexico was doing a lot against that defense. I think
John Mattier tears up that Michigan defense.
Speaker 2 (54:26):
As he did in Week one. He looked really good
out there, had a bunch of touchdowns I think four.
In fact, he's sixteen to one to win the Heisman
right now, Mark Henry Jr.
Speaker 5 (54:34):
Too tough a schedule, They're gonna lose too many games.
Speaker 3 (54:37):
I'm not buying Garrett Nosmeyer.
Speaker 5 (54:41):
I'm enough guy, I am too.
Speaker 3 (54:43):
But for Heisman, I think.
Speaker 5 (54:45):
He could get there. It's gonna have He's got to
beat up on the bad teams to get like Jadon Daniels.
Speaker 3 (54:50):
To elevate those stats.
Speaker 4 (54:52):
Yeah tough, I mean yeah, tough, tough, tough trip in
Week one for the Heisman candidate.
Speaker 3 (54:56):
Drew Aller might be a play.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
They play a lot of cupcakes. It's gonna come down
to that Oregon in Ohio State. The two really really
tough matchups, and I don't believe in them to win
either of them. But my biggest player of the weekend,
not just college football, the whole weekend Ole Miss minus
eight and a half as oh love, do.
Speaker 5 (55:17):
Not care that it's a rat trap. I do not care.
I'm walking right in. I'm eating the cheese and saying, wow,
she's sitting right here. I don't know who left it
out for me.
Speaker 3 (55:26):
Looks good.
Speaker 5 (55:26):
I'm gonna eat it. But I just think that, you know,
normally i'd say.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
Ooh at Kentucky, maybe a little bit of a tricky spot.
They The reason that Olemiss did not go to the
playoff last year is because they lost as a twenty
point favorite to Kentucky. You don't think that's been eating
away at Lane Kiffin for three hundred and sixty five days.
He's going to show up in Lexington wanting to score
sixty five points on them, Like I think he is
(55:51):
going to put it on them. I don't think there's
going to be any taking the pedal off the metal,
like I think he is going to want to embarrass
Mark Stetops and kind of end the Mark Stoops era
at Kentucky. I know Beef had a great ole Miss
that I'm trying to search his Twitter right now for it.
Speaker 5 (56:08):
Get a great ole Miss at the Yeah.
Speaker 4 (56:10):
Lane Kevin nine and two against the spread as a
road favorite during his time at ole Miss. Usually when
he's the better team, he takes care of business and
usually he puts it on teams.
Speaker 5 (56:20):
So I expect a beat down by ole Miss. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
We gotta start looking at Lane and ole Miss as
like you know that team that will deliver when you
wage around him, because more majority of the times they
do great stuff. Mark Denry Junior Hope. By the way,
DraftKings Will has the Chiefs listed as a point and
a half favorite next week an Area.
Speaker 5 (56:39):
Oh yeah, yeah, right, think you talk about a really
really tough game to call.
Speaker 4 (56:45):
I mean, they have an extra day arrest against us,
but they're coming back from Brazil, So does that kind
of or we have I should say we have an
extra day arrest from them and they're coming back from Brazil,
but it's also at home in Kansas City there home
opener there. They obviously had spent the whole offseason about
how we whooped them up last year on the Super Bowl.
So maybe a little bit of their super Bowl revenge
(57:05):
tour coming here, but I would probably leave the vehicles.
Speaker 3 (57:09):
Yeah, right there with you. Great job our flying by.
Speaker 2 (57:12):
As always, you'll get more of Mark tomorrow from eleven
to one.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
Tough cover radio show, Mark Henry Jr. You know what
to do?
Speaker 5 (57:20):
Vanderbilt Country.
Speaker 3 (57:21):
That's wrong.
Speaker 2 (57:23):
Goode Mark Henry Jr. There he is, Ladies and gentlemen,
you're the best. Good Luck on Nose plays tough cover
radio show every Saturday. Right here on the Gambler. Kyle
Fisher joins me on the other side. Kyle's heading out
to Green Bay to be on the sidelines for CBS Sports.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
As he trails, Tracy Wolfson does a great.
Speaker 2 (57:45):
Job there, really dialed in on last night's Eagles game,
So we'll dissect exactly his takeaways, and we've got to
break down some Phill's action because man, yesterday was an
unbelievable performance by Ranger Suarez to nothing victory. They roll
on to Miami to take on the Marlins. Keep it going,
stay hot to two to three against Milwaukee. You can't
do any better than that. Way, you can, actually you
(58:06):
can sweet them. Yeah, come on, bris anyway, I'll take
two of three, all day, every day.
Speaker 3 (58:10):
Daily ticket. Roan on. Kyle Fisher joins me on the
other side.
Speaker 4 (58:13):
More this.
Speaker 1 (58:14):
We don't just watch college football, we live it.
Speaker 3 (58:18):
How did they stand? Balance there? Look at them?
Speaker 1 (58:21):
Go stand join us for the stories, the scores and
the Saturday match. Here it's the Gambler.
