Speaker 1 (00:00):
Number one on your car radio preset hand the new
and improved Iheard Radio, w D yes and w D
two seven three D Philadelphia is Fox Sports Radio The Gambler.
(00:54):
Oh yes, indeed, welcome back Daily, take it with you.
You're having a lot of fun on Monday, joining the party,
vibing out himself, fresh off a trip up the Expressway
up at MetLife for the Bills and the Jets, which
was complete domination by one team. Take a guess who
actually that was? Kyle Fisher joining us right now. Kyle,
(01:18):
great to have you as always here. Love getting that
text message like, Yo, I'm available today if you need me,
my guy, because last week we did not have an
opportunity to have you on due to everything that was
taking place. And of course you I thought we're taking
a flight, but you were coming back from Green Bay
and I kind of threw us off, so I wasn't
sure where you were. But Kyle does a great a
great job for all thing CBS sports on the sidelines
(01:40):
on Sundays and make sure you read them over at
Philadelphia SN With that being said, Josh Allen is one
of the toughest dudes out there and he plays quarterback
I don't think anybody's surprised by that what exactly happened
to him, Because he takes a hit, he runs off
the field, waves in trubisky like this dude's a maniac.
(02:01):
He's got a broken nose or whatever. He's leaking. They're
feeding him stuff. He's drinking on the sideline. I didn't
even know what actually took place yesterday.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So he caught a hand across the face, got underneath
the face mask a little bit, caught him in the nose.
And I wasn't even watching the field at the time.
I was paying attention to something that the coaches were
talking about on the sideline. But I was on the
Bill's sideline nice and I hear a little bit of
commotion on the sideline. I look up up this way
and here he is sprinting off the field doing the
thing where like he's holding his face out so the
(02:30):
blood won't get on his jersey, and he's just going
like this.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Sits down and leaking is the right word.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Dude was leaking blood and he's just spitting it out
and telling somebody to come over. They're trying to clean
him up. They tried to see if they could get
the bleeding to stop quickly. They couldn't. And he's not
worried in the least. He's just like, do what you
got to do to get me back out there. Like
he's almost upset that they're even taking the time to
check him out. It's like, just do whatever it is
(02:57):
and get me back on the field. He ended up
not rushing them too much. Tracy and I ended up
switching positions at that point, so she watched the rest
of the way, and their biggest concern was swelling. So
every time he was on the bench for the rest
of the game, they had ice in a towel wrapped
up and he would just wiping his nose if there
was any blood, and then holding it right here, and
(03:19):
then wiping and holding it right here the rest of
the game. And what a competitor man to like, he said,
we don't know if it's officially a broken nose. They
said imaging would come later. He seemed to be okay
by the end of the game, Like, I didn't see
a ton of swelling at the end, and I would think,
after a while, it doesn't matter how much ice you
put on there, you're probably going to start to show
it a little bit, especially with the blood flowing and
(03:40):
the adrenaline going.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
But his postgame interview went off without a hitch.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
He said, I'm not worried about whether we got imaging
in the future. I'm worried about the fact that we
got a w and we're on the week three, just
like you would expect from a guy of his caliber.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
So we'll have to see if he has a broken nose.
But I don't think he misses any playing time.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
And it was probably the highlight of the game because
the score definitely didn't lend itself to anything worth watching
at some point, but that was definitely worth watching for
us and the crew on CBS.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, Josh all fourteen or twenty five, one forty eight
not much needed. And whether or not that had anything
to do with the play calling, I don't think so.
All in all, they got to get in there and
win the game. They did handly, thirty to ten. They
were six point favorites. I expected a better performance out
of the Jets, Shame on me. You don't say that often.
I don't say that often, but I thought that we
would have got a little bit more from them on
(04:30):
the offensive side of the ball.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Turnovers killed them.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
If I'm not mistaken, I know that Fields had a
tough fumble there, which was really tough, and all in all,
just it was one sided. As you pull up the
box score here, twenty five first downs to eleven to
twenty four to a total one hundred passing yards. Time
of possession was thirty eight to twenty one. Complete domination
from the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen though, no surprise, one of,
(04:56):
if not the toughest sob out there. The hits he takes,
and that was really cool to see.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
As far as Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
You know, no hiccups on defense, right Like I thought
we would see the defense.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Struggle a little bit.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
I didn't think it was a fluke or I you know,
I thought what we saw against the Ravens albeat. It'st
the Ravens and their offensive players and system. I thought
that the Bills defense was going to struggle a little bit.
But they must have heard the calls and the people
saying exactly what my thoughts were, and they answered them.
They were dominant and as I said, just limited the
(05:32):
Jets to three points through three quarters. Jets were able
to get a touchdown finally in the fourth quarter, but.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Was that a concern to you.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Did you were you thinking like, oh, you know what, look,
the Ravens are the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
That needs me to focus.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
We're talking about the Bills defense, given the Ravens all
the respect that they deserve, and what were your expectations
heading into yesterday's game?
Speaker 4 (05:51):
What were you saying pregame?
Speaker 2 (05:53):
So one of the biggest things that we were watching
was the defense, and not only the defense, just because
they're not the same unit that they've been in the past.
They don't have the same names they did bring them
boast of this year, which we talked about in the offseason,
should be a boost for them, but they're not the
same guys. They're running out people who maybe are more
rotational players as their starters in the secondary. And then
(06:15):
on top of that, pregame you lose a linebacker, two dbs,
a defensive tackle all to injury, multiple guys on the
injury report, Christian Benfort, who actually ended up having a
pretty good game, he was on the injury report as well.
Cook and Coleman were both on the injury report. I
know that they're not defense, but the worry was if
(06:35):
anybody is hindered on the offensive side. Can the defense
hold up against the Jets team that looked surprisingly competent
on offense in Week one. It ended up not being
a matter, but that was a big focus for us
going into the game. Was not only is their defense
you know, a little leaky against albeit a strong offense
down in Baltimore, but when you lose four starters before
(06:56):
the game even starts, and you have two more who
are listed as question going in, that's cause for concern.
So it was definitely one of the big focuses for
us going into the game was watching there, especially their
their defensive backs and how they handle the rotations there.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Because of what the Jets showed in Week one, ended
up not mattering that much.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
No, yeah, and all in all, you know, just from
what you were saying going into that game, the focus
was on the defense. So I think that those type
of things, you know, you're going to get a response
from good teams.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Right that's it. That defense is they championship caliber defense.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
The Bills and the Ravens look like that they are
again at the top of the class as far as
the are the AAC is concerned, and if we get
a match up between those two teams in the AC
Championship game, and maybe the Chiefs will take an exit,
an early exit this year. Oh and two, you never know,
they might not even get to the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Who knows.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
We look, you're looking at the two other teams that
everybody assumed are going to be in the mix in
the AFC. One of them is zero and two, and
one of them is going to miss their quarterback for
two to three months.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Yeah, Burrow is just.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah, you know what's gotten easier for two of the
best teams in the league.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
You're right, You're right.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
And I think because of what happened last year, the
way that the Borough performed and how bad that defense was,
just missing the playoffs, you just felt like, all right,
they'll figure it out. Of course, they won ugly in
Week one against the Cleveland Browns, and that was a
monster win by them. Yesterday over the Jags. I did
not think that they were going to get that job done.
Disappointing for mister Duval and Trevor Lawrence and company. But
(08:28):
all in all, Cincinnati two and zero Browning's pretty good.
I will give him a credit. I won't think that.
And they have an arsenal of talent out there at
the wide receiver position.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
He's not Joe Burrow.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
But you're right when you talk about the big the
good teams in the AFC, Cincinnati was being discussed as
having a more successful season just based off of what
took place last year with that. Let's talk about the
Chiefs and oh, by the way, the two it oh
Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Let's go so much to get to Kyle.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
You know, look, I'll just open up with this because
I started show by saying like you can miss me
on the push push nonsense. We heard it all off season.
Talk to me in March because they're going to change it.
And that's fine. You don't want to you want to
remove the receivers or the people behind him bushing them.
Jail Hurts is still going to pick up that tough
yard Tom Brady did it, made a career out of it. Plus,
(09:19):
you know he could throw the football. I think, yeah,
a little bit. I think he's number one all time
touchdown passes. Right, Yeah, you can throw the football a
little bit. But he was able to move the sticks
nine times out of ten because he was able to
get that tough yard by the QB sneak Jalen Hurts
will still be able to do that regardless of the changes.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
So it's like, I don't even want.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
To waste time on it. It's not going to change.
It's a part of their system and they run.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
It really well and it's so deflating for the opposition.
But you know, to.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Simplify yesterday's game just to that one play though, I
hate that, and I do you know you're seeing it
on these networks, you're seeing these talking heads. That was
a good football game from a viewers perspective. Not the
highest scoring games stayed under the total. Chiefs are dealing
with some injuries. Of course, the suspension wide receivers out
plays were there to be made from a couple of their.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Wide receivers Kelsey included.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
But I didn't expect an explosive game due to what
those defenses were to start there. But the fact that
the Eagles went in and now improved a two to
zero winning at Arrowhead, beating Mahomes yet again, what was
your thoughts after yesterday's game?
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Yeah, it can't be overstated that these teams are basically
forming a rivalry AFCN NFC. You don't see that a ton.
They're the only team in AFC NFC history to play
each other five years in a row. They're the only
quarterbacks to beat each other in a three year span
in the Super Bowl. It's a remarkable test regardless of
what you think about that team. Now, I also am
(10:51):
a firm believer that you don't know a whole lot
about a team until about a month in. So is
that what the Chiefs are going to be all season long?
Looks like a deflated offense. Probably not. Kelsey's gonna get
his legs underneath him and as the season progresses, he's
going to pick things up. They're going to get some
health wide receiver, They're going to have a guy come
(11:12):
off suspension and add some depth there. And they're also
an organization that looks to add when they need to,
just like the Eagles are. So I don't expect them
to look this way all season long. I expect them
to be one of the top teams in the AFC. Still,
that being said, Eagles went in there and took care
of business. Any win on the road in the NFL
is a big win. Any win on the road is
(11:33):
a big win. To beat that team on the road
and inke out of victory, it wasn't a blowout like
the Super Bowl. It was a very different game than
that one, and they still come out on top. I
think you can say what you want about the play calling,
and we will dive into that.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
You can say what you want.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
About the push push, and rightfully so, there's question marks there.
But at the end of the day, I'll take what
Jalen Hurt said to Chris.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Jones at the end of the end of the game,
and I'll remove the explosives. We won the game to
shut up.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Yeah, take it somewhere else exactly. They won the game.
And oh, by the way, Chris Jones, he did have
one hundred yards. He's one on one, all right.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
So if you're gonna get it, you're gonna make a statement.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I love it. Look, yeah, that was a desperate you know,
I hate to say it. It's week two, but like
they're home. They look bad in that game against the Chargers.
You know that they're a little bit better than what
they were. The defense took a person. I thought the
defense played really well. Spags is incredible. We don't have
to go into that. They got a great defensive front,
solid linebackers, good good corners like the Chiefs are for real.
(12:38):
And yeah, here's what we'll be saying come playoff time. Dude,
I'd be careful because the Chiefs won't be home. They're
not gonna have the best record, right, They're going to
be probably whatever seed a little bit, you know, as
far as further back, not the one or two seed,
maybe a fourth or a five seed, whatever it may be.
And they're gonna be a difficult team to match up with.
(13:01):
And that's what we're going to be saying come postseason.
They'll probably sneak off a victory that they don't think
they should not have.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
They'll be an underdog again.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Who knows, but this is the kissy Chiefs team that
has been in back to back Super Bowls. And of course,
as you said, with the rivalry, you gotta love what
we're seeing so far between these two teams. Jalen Hurts,
I don't look at it from him saying, you know,
it wasn't the Super Bowl I believe as well as
you said, where he outperformed Mahomes. It was a defensive game,
(13:29):
but Jalen Hurts doing what he needed to do, of course,
making it some big time throws that won the DeVante
Smith at the top of the list for me, and
getting the job done, scoring a touchdown when his number
was called best bet and football, and picking up those
tough yards with the seven I want to say seven
Twitsch pushes that they ran eighty seven percent success rate.
(13:50):
If I'm giving out a game ball, I look at
the quarterback, what about you?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
I mean, I guess you'd give it to Bakoobi if
you have to pick somebody, but maybe Fansio because whatever
they're doing as far as adjustments at halftime have been impressive.
And I know it's a young season, but they only
allowed three points after half last week. They only allowed
one hundred and thirty yards in the Earth excuse me,
(14:17):
one hundred and sixty yards in the second half and
really contain Mahomes in the second half against the Chiefs,
only allowed the touchdown. They've only allowed one or two
scores in the second half through two games.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
To me, it's that is.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
The ability of a veteran coach who knows what he's doing,
who knows how to read the offenses and make adjustments.
I know that there's things that we've complained about in
the past about maybe different Eagles eras, but the lack
of adjustments in game have driven people crazy before, and
that's not what you see with Fangio.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
So to me, you knew that it was going to be.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
A defensive battle out there at Arrowhead, and that's exactly
what Fangio did. He prepared himself for a defensive battle,
made the adjustments necessary, and slowed down the Chiefs in
the second half.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
I have given his team a chance to win.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
So ultimately, I think that Hurts with the toush push
and his ability to make things happen. I remember there's
one the go ball to DeVante Smith was a really
impressive read. Really impressive read by Barkley too, to take
the backside defender because they were getting rushed by seven
you only had six. He picked the backside defender so
Hurts could see the guy coming at him and knew
(15:22):
when he had the time. And I thought that was
a really impressive play. So that's not to take anything
away from Hurts, but the defense through two games has
been so impressive.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
I want to give props to them, and too, Fangio
well said his adjustment.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Yeah, you know what, I'm taking my game ball back
from Jailing now I'm getting Vick was incredible. And then
you know, when I think about Spags and the praise
he was getting yesterday, well, Vic Fangio and deserves some
of that national praise as well. I know he is
getting a ton of it locally, but yesterday you heard
a lot about Spags. All right, let's talk a little
bit more about in depth as far as the offense
(15:54):
and the play calling is concerned. And there's no alarms
going off, but the numbers are the numbers, and you
you have weapons out there, and you're wondering what's going on.
Our guy's open when they're not. We're seeing some tape
breakdown all that. You're a little bit more in depth
than I am when it comes to breaking down the
stuff as far as plays and all that. What are
you seeing when it comes to the Eagles play calling?
(16:16):
Jalen Hurts, for my money, is a guy that realizes
the value in not turning the football over. I think
that that has been something a big reason why this
team continues to have success, continues to win football games.
And I'll take that ninety nine point nine percent of
the time. Do I want him to take a shot
every once in a while. Sure, Because you got aj Brown,
you got Devonte Smith on the outside. Absolutely, Jalen, you
(16:40):
know what, for exactly what he did. He won a
Super Bowl. Nobody should doubt him because when it comes
to it, you cannot turn the football over and that
was something that we.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
Were saying when he was doing.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
So he fixes those issues and then now all of
a sudden, it's like, well wait a minute, No, a
win is a win. They're two and zero. But we
have to be real. The offense buttered at times, and
that's being nice. What are you seeing right now? Of
course with the new play caller, so.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
I haven't really seen anybody do the breakdowns of the
all twenty twos for this last game. But I was
speaking to somebody on the CBS crew, Josh Cohen, who
does a lot of our telestraighter stuff and he does
a lot of replay work, works directly with Romo. He
was a college quarterback, so who knows that position really well.
He usually gives us a lot of breakdowns on quarterbacks
and passing games in general. He said the thing that
stood out to him in the Cowboy game was he
(17:29):
doesn't remember a single time where he saw guys pressuring
on the line and then immediately backing out and attempting
to not give anything deep away. And my guess is
that when outside of times where they were rushing seven
like they did on the one play I mentioned, the
Chiefs were taking a similar game plan. Don't let them
beat us deep. If they want to take it underneath,
they'll do that. And Jalen's smart enough to take what
(17:51):
they give you, right, That is a competent approach to
the passing game.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Take what they give you, don't force anything.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
However, another player in Eagles history during his prime, was
very good at not turning the ball over, Donovan McNatt,
and he, at least on occasion with much lesser receivers,
would test defenses early and make some big, big plays
happen on the move.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
I don't that's where I think the play calling comes in.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
And Kevin Botulo it's his first time doing this, so
there's gonna be some time to adjust.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
They didn't have any preseason time together.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
I know you have all off season, but live game
is much different from offseason and training camp. So I'm
gonna give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
But to me, it's it's almost like the designs are
for the short routes as opposed to designing split split
level where you have that short and then you have
an up top crosser. They're kind of not doing that
as much as you would anticipate, and I don't know
(18:43):
if they think it's to set up they want that
short yardage, so they're forcing people this way and they
can break out runs to the outside. That's you'd have
to learn that from the coaches. But I'm seeing at
least in Week one, I saw a defense that wanted
to prevent deep so they took everything short. I'd have
to look more at the All twenty two to see
what the Chiefs did, But there is cause for concern, Sean.
(19:05):
I mean, this is an interesting one that John Fisher tweeted.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
My brother.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
He tweeted out about the Eagles offense. He said they're
averaging two hundred and fifty nine yards per game so far,
which is the fourth fewest in the NFL. It's only
ahead of teams with a QB making his first two
NFL starts in the Titans and the Vikings, and the
Bengals who have a horrid offensive line and lost their
starting quarterback in the last game, so they have They're
(19:32):
only outperforming offensively, a horrific offensive line, who lost their
starting quarterback and two brand new quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
So, yes, they've played good teams.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Yes they've played solid defenses, a really good defense in
the Chiefs, and yes they're.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Two to zero. There are no there.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
It seems like something else is going on. And maybe
it's just hey, we have new personnel. We adjusted after
the bye week. We don't have a Week four by
this year, but you do need to take the time
to figure out what it is, make an adjustment to
make sure your offense rolls the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Very intriguing and well said, a nice stat by your
brother on that one, because that's kind of you know,
it puts it into light. Yeah yeah, it's like, oh, okay,
yeah that is not good. But okay, we watched the games.
We know, you know, the offense was not clicking. Yesterday,
Sequa was able to get eighty eight yards total. He
was grinding it and I felt like he was going
(20:26):
to eventually break one. But that's a really good Kansas
City defense. Oh, by the way, next week two and
o versus two and oh could be the game of
the week. You got a pretty good one on Monday night.
You got a good one for you, Browning versus WinCE.
You head into Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Oh, I'm so excited.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Yes, yes, that will be in Minnesota for the backup
battle of the century.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
How about that you get? Yeah, the backup battle? That's
all right?
Speaker 1 (20:54):
Week three which is a very unfortunate, but you know,
when you look at the Rams, that's a team that
can We know what McVeigh is capable of Stafford, they
have weapons.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
This is an interesting spot.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Birds right now are three and a half point favorites
next week at home. Of course, the Eagles have owned
the Rams right like they beat them last year, smack
them down where Saquan ran all over them, and of
course we're able to squeak out that victory at home
in a playoff game. I don't know if there's one
thing they need to do better for next week for
(21:25):
them to win the game.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
Again, we got a long way to go. What would
you say to that?
Speaker 2 (21:30):
I would like to see more play action pass everybody
knows that they're a running first team. I think you
can do a lot from the play action. I would
personally prefer it to be passed first. Take some shots
deeper down the field against maybe a questionable defense. Solid defense,
but questionable compared to the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
And you know you're gonna.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Have to keep up with that Rams offense. I don't
care how good your defense is. They have one of
the best offenses in the league. You're gonna have to
shoot it a little bit against Stafford and the Rams.
I would I'd like to see a little bit more
play action, and you can run out of play action too,
right like Jalen you have designed runs for him.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
You can run out of play action. You can.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
That should set up your run game as well, because
if I go play action early now you have to
stay back for that. Now we can let Sae kwon
get a few extra yards and open space as well.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
So I think that there's ways to use.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
You can use heavy personnel like you've been doing early
on and still take advantage of some laps lapses in the.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Defense when you use play action for them off.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Even if you don't commit to it as a total
game plan, I think you can use it as an
additional player to what you've seen so far.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
Well said, and I would that's where I was going
to go.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
It's almost not you know what I was going to
go with the run game, not with play action, but
they go.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
Hand in hand.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
And you know, when you think of what took place
last year when Saqua was able to run for two
sixty I think or something like that was ridiculous, and
he went over three hundred yards total in the game.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
So I'm not going to sit here and say that.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
But feeding him, allowing him to be the playmaker that
he is, and then running your system off of him
as well, I think that's only gonna benefit the Eagles,
especially on the offense side of the ball. Defense got
to have a game. I've said it. I think we
all have.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Again.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
This isn't somebody like I don't get on my soapbox
here not you know, I will from time to time.
But it's really easy for us to sit here and
realize how special Cooper Degene is. It's really easy for
us to sit here and realize how special Quenya Mitchell is. Macouba,
what are we saying now? Are we adding him into
the to the equation because he is the type of
(23:35):
player right now that's finding himself at the right place
at the right time.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
An Oh, by the way, has great awareness.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
He's been making place in pre season, made a name
for himself a camp obviously. And now that tackle that
he had on third down coming across the middle, that
you know that was reminiscent of a Cooper Dejene tackle
from last year.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Was this is another great draft pick man.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
They they know what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
They know how to find top tier town they know
how to find diamonds in the rough. They are developing everywhere,
seemingly except for cornerback because Quinyon was supposed to be
this and they don't quite have CB two figured out
quite yet. That's the biggest thing for me against the
Rams is going to be can you move Quinyon around
enough to keep them off balance and keep them from
(24:25):
really exposing the CB two spot right? I mean, you
know that they have more than one weapon there, So
can you cover the field? Can you use I don't know,
a Jomo, can he help out? Can Makuba? Can he
help from over the top? Can you use.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Campbell?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
I've seen promising things from him in coverage, despite him
being known as a rush first guy. I like what
I've seen from him in coverage, So can he help
make up for some of the deficiencies.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Do you go a little bit more zone maybe with
Quinyon keyed in on a man.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
You know, don't really know exactly what the game plan
is against the Rams, but a lot of these young
defenders are promising. Uh and just kudos to the front office.
They keep finding guys that value picks left and right.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Yeah, you're right about Campbell.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
I'd skipped over him, and of course the expectation coming
in how he got his guy and he's showing up
and then some he was in Mahomes's face a lot.
Mahomes took a beating yesterday. They were hitting him, they
were after him yesterday.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
I loved it and.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Go, Yeah there was the one call was on Campbell
where he got called for the young sportsman like the passer. Yeah,
I thought that he was going to get called on
like two or three plays before that probably popped him
and they didn't call it then. So this one I
didn't even see the replay, and I was like, if
it's not bad, it has to be a making buried
him on the one before.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Yeah, you're exactly right, it is Mahomes. Oh, by the way,
putting a ball on this one? Are we serious with that?
Taylor Swift Divider, what's going on in that stadium.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
You see that.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
No, I don't know what, because she's been rolling in
on a cart like she's been very out like when
she walks into the stadium, I get it. It's Taylor
Swift and there might be people waiting and maybe they're
that's what they're trying to push.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
But they have people literally.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
With this divider that is like tightened up and then extends,
and it's supposedly for her.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
It's on the timeline.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
It's all over the place, and I, like I said,
there are things probably that are happening. People are going
to the game just to get a glimpse of her
and you know, hang out in that hallway and maybe
they don't want it anymore, but come on, dude, really
you got they had like a people, a round up
of ten people that are like on this and then
Taylor walks behind it and you can't see her, just
so she can get into her own entrance.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
I don't know, some.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Stupid I I don't want to comment on it because
I haven't seen it. Yeah, if maybe there were some
concerns like that her aware of.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Yeah, you're right, Okay, I take it back. I take
it back.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
The moment.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
It's an end of some some things. So I think
that that could that could be it, but I haven't
seen it, and I'm not involved in that closely, so
I don't want to. You know, you do a little
bit of extra extra precaution with someone.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Of her very good call for her attention. Absolutely good
call by you on that one. I'm still anti divider. Still,
we'll keep it moving here. Cayle Fisher hanging out with me.
How about this. We got a birthday Pete Carroll celebrate
in seventy four years. Tonight he's back on the field
(27:39):
leading to Las Vegas Raiders and Monday Night Football taking
on the Chargers. We got two games. We're gonna get
into both of those games. Plus we'll continue to shine
the light and what's a place on NFL Sunday. Gotta
get Kyle Fisher's thoughts on everything from the NFC side
of things. The biggest competition for the Birds as we
sit here and know by the way, we'll throw it
back to Thursday because the Green Bay Packers they look
(28:01):
like they're the real deal.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
What's the big difference in his mind?
Speaker 1 (28:04):
We'll talk about all that and more, but Monday Night
Football Toofer.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
We'll hit on the other side with Kyle Fisher back after.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
This talking Monday night football.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
We got two games to get into. Kyle Fisher with
me here. It's a daily ticket. And you know, I
love the people that love to complain about these matchups. Like,
wait a minute, dude, if you want to complain that tonight,
the second game is going off at ten o'clock and
you're gonna be falling asleep on the East Coast. I'm
not here to deny that. I'm not here to show off.
(28:43):
I'll try and make it to the end, but oh no,
it's gonna be tough uphill climb, especially with the newborn. However,
it's weak too. And you're complaining about the matchups. Oh man,
come on, and Kyle Fisher, God bless his little heart.
He's setting up to Minnesota for the backup ball and
we free.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
So don't be complaining about these.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Matchups that we have already in a brand new season
of NFL action. Relax, everybody, relax. Not every game is
going to be the Ravens and Bills. Okay, I told you,
I mean I told jogging in my soapbox from time
to time.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
But like, whatever you want to complain about matches, not
every week is gonna have perfect matchups in primetime. You
know what though, Uh, if you told me before last
season that Baker Mayfield and the high powered Tampa Bay
Buccaneers we're going to be facing off primetime against.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
A young quarterback in CJ.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Stroud and an upstart Houston Texans team, I might be excited.
Doesn't mean that a year and a half later, it's
gonna it's gonna still feel that way.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
The Chargers.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Everybody loves Harball, Everybody loves what the Chargers have done,
Everybody loves Herbert, and whether you like them or not,
the Raiders are still a huge draw across the nation.
So those are things you have to consider. And guess what,
if you don't want to stay up, then don't. Can't
complain about it.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Just get the extra sleep, watch the highlights in the morning.
It's people will find any reason.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Oh yeah, we always we always say that, how many
have you been to every stadium in the NFL?
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Not yet.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
I haven't been to Seattle, I have not been to
what I've been to Vegas?
Speaker 4 (30:21):
You've been to Vegas?
Speaker 1 (30:21):
Vegas is Yeah, that's where our super Bowl was a
years ago.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Uh been to San fran been to l A. I
haven't been to Arizona. I haven't been to Indianapolis. Uh,
there's other I'm not going to sit here and just
go for every stadium, but I've I've been at more
than half.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Okay, at this point, love it. I'll write it down
so next time I'm actually ready to go with me
staring at a stadium names, you.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Still got a couple more to go to check off
and and they got to give you a reason to
get out there. Obviously you're you're with You're with the
main crew. You're with the cream of the crop with
Romo and Nance. They're not sending them, you know, to
I'll due respect Indianapolis when they're taking on the Tennessee.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Titans, or maybe this year they might with the two.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
And h start by Indiana Jones, Kyle Fisher, My goodness, yeah,
quickly before we getting a Monday night football two matchups,
wide open card or wide open question for you your
biggest surprise Week two and you could take it back
to Thursday, of course, all the games that played yesterday
into the night with JJ McCarthy struggling and of course
the Atlanta Falcon's coming to with that victory.
Speaker 4 (31:27):
But your biggest surprise.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Week two, biggest surprise Week two? Oh man, how bad
the Dolphins are? No, I'll be positive. Let's talk about
I mean, yeah, Daniel Jones. About Daniel Jones, the guy
is a resurgence unlike we've seen. It's like they took
(31:50):
the Anthony Richardson offense and they took what worked for
Daniel Jones in New York two years ago, and they
pushed it together and they found not a diamond and
a rough because the guy was a high draft pick,
but like they maximize this guy's potential. And sometimes guys
are over slotted because teams are desperate for quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
And in return, are not patient.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
And Daniel Jones is clearly a guy who needed some
time and needed some seasoning to get used to the league.
I don't know if you're gonna see what you've seen
from him in the first two weeks all season long.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Nobody does. But that is a surprise to me.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
I don't know what's more surprising him having five hundred
and eighty eight yards through two weeks or Russell Wilson
having four hundred and fifty yards in one week.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
I don't know what's more surprising out of those two.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
You're right, it is tough. It's a coin flip on
that one.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
And I would expect Russell Wilson to be NFC Player
of the Week this week, although Janie McCarthy won it
last week and he basically did the same thing. I kid,
that was insane. There's so much to chew on and
our hour runs fast. But the expectation for McCarthy to
just perform and be this franchise corps like he was
(33:01):
being discussed. I know he was drafted high, but to
have that thought right here, right now, I get it.
He had a year to work into the system and
should be better. Dude, it's called reps and he's only
going to get better. He's got a cannon of an arm.
It seems like the mental makeup is there, the coaching
staff is great. He struggled yesterday. I expect that. I
(33:21):
expect him to struggle. But for the people out there
on week one going, oh my goodness, he's going to
be a franchise quarterback. This is why you do this.
And then to just be on the flip side after
last night's struggles, just like what is going on? Like,
I get it, it's it takes society. Everybody's got to
have a take, and especially about a quarterback. But it's
okay to say, you know what, he could be great.
(33:44):
He could be an average quarterback with great weapons. We
don't know. We'll see how it plays out. We just
got to be so drastic extreme when it comes to
quarterback conversation.
Speaker 4 (33:54):
I don't know, it's so funny to me, that's all.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Yeah, they drive the entire game, So they drive the
entire comp and look what Sam Donald. Nobody expected Sam
Donald to have the year that he had last year.
I don't care how good the coaching staff is, how
good the weapons are. Nobody expected him to have the
year that he had last year, and he turned it
into a contract. Some guys just need more time. And
unfortunately we're not in the era where you're given that
(34:17):
luxury anymore. And it's mostly because the owners are not
committed to the gms and the coaches, and because the
gms and the coaches feel like I have a two
to three year window. If it doesn't work, I got
to move on. Whereas, like when you go to a
stable situation and you have like Green Bay for example. Correct,
that's been a stable organization. They took Rogers, Rogers wanted
(34:39):
to start right away. They said, kid, just take a minute,
get used to it. And then they took through Love
and said take a minute, get used to it. And
both of those guys have thrived as a result. You
don't have to throw a guy into the fire immediately.
And we've said this in the past, but I'll reiterate it.
The bad teams that draft quarterbacks at the top are
(35:01):
making a mistake every single time they do it because
you are bad for a reason, unless it's a fluke
year and you have too many injuries and just couldn't
overcome them. If you don't have a foundation for a
young quarterback to walk into and feel comfortable and not
have a horrible offensive Like it's very rare that.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Joe Burrow does what he does with a terrible offensive
line in Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
For as long as he does, it's more like what
you've seen from Bryce Young or Trey Lance or Daniel
Jones in his first Cup like. It's it more times
it ends up looking like that than it does Joe Burrow.
So if you don't have a foundation built and don't
built a way to protect this guy and support this
guy who could potentially be your franchise quarterback.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Then drafted.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
It doesn't matter how good he is, it doesn't matter
how high you draft him. And that's another example with
JJ McCarthy, like, yeah, okay, he had a year to
learn the system, but he was also hurt last year.
It's not like he was in practice every single week
learning from this this sage of a veteran Sam Donald,
like Sam Donald was still figuring it out. And you have, yes,
(36:09):
this is a strong quarterback coaching staff, but you have
a guy who's it's a young coaching staff, a young quarterback.
They gonna they're gonna need some time to gel. I'm
gonna give them that leeway because of what they've shown
in the past.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Cam Ward is the topic of conversation when you start
to talk about quarterbacks taken high and potentially you know,
not the right move nineteen to thirty three, say one
seventy five.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
I'm a cam Ward believer.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
I like what I've seen so far, but I think
we can look back, right, I think we can look
back after this season's over, maybe next year, and look
at what was potentially there, whether it's Abdul Carter or
could have been somewhere else, and then trade back and
get this and we can have that conversation that maybe
this was not the right move. And you know what,
(36:54):
as we sit here right now, I feel pretty confident
in saying, as a camboard believer that it wasn't the
right move for everything you just said.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
So we'll see. We'll see.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
He could turn it into a franchise quarterback. He's got
the talent, he's got the arm strength. Hasn't turned the
football over just yet, but still a little sloppy.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
But it's just unfair.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
It's unfair to even go in today like Calvin Ridley,
isn't you know Jerry Rice out there is the weapons
aren't really there.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
The offensive line is. It's the Tennessee Titans had overall
them one pick for a reason.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
And i'd get I'd say two things, right, if you
are an organization and you're going to spend a top
pick on a quarterback, you need to do two things.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
One be patient. You know who sucked this first year
in the league, Peyton Manning.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
You know who's going to the Hall of Fame despite
every negative thing that people have said, about.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Him, Eli Manning.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
You know who was terrible when he started his first game,
Tom Brady. Those are three Hall of famers that I
just mentioned, and go look at their year one stats.
It wasn't good. And secondarily and the Eagle did a
great job of this with Wentz and with Hurts at first.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
You have somebody on a young on a rookie contract,
Go spend money to protect them, even if you're not
spending the money the draft picks on a line.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Go sign a veteran tackle.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
And just make sure the dude doesn't get blown up
and lose all of his confidence. If you show faith
in the quarterback and show faith that you are willing
to do the things to make them successful, they are
now comfortable and can develop properly. Again, Peyton Manning was
horrendous his first year in the league, and he's one
of the greatest passers of the quarterback of the football
(38:39):
rather that I've ever seen that anyone's ever seen.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Give guys a minute, but.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
That doesn't happen because now to hit the rewind button
to bring it back to your original point. You're right
like you're already hearing it with Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams.
Caleb Williams was everyone said he was a generational talent.
All right, he's the heck of a football player at
USC But that's that's not professional football, that's not Sundays
and Ben Johnson that he didn't draft them. So now
(39:05):
you're already hearing that after be losing fifty two to
twenty one whatever it was yesterday, two games with Johnson
and Kayla Williams together, that like he might not be
his guy.
Speaker 4 (39:15):
He's out. It's like, what are we doing here?
Speaker 1 (39:17):
You gotta show faith and build around im if you're
gonna spend the capitol on taking a pick that.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Eye, Yeah, it's terrible.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
Like you sign a coach to a four or a
five year contract, You have the GM under a four
year contract, You draft the rookie quarterback who's gonna be
there for at least five years on a cheap ish deal,
and in year two you're like.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
I don't know, But then why'd you commit all that time.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
And money and years to those guys? But cause you don't,
you don't want to be patient. I'm sure that if
an organization went, hey, fans, you know what, I know,
it's bad right now, give us a minute, Give us
a minute. It's professional football. Give us a minute.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Will be okay five years from now.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
And if you give yourself a little bit of a
deeper window, a bigger pocket to defello, both yourself and
your young quarterback. I think more teams are going to
be successful as a result. But we're not in that age.
We're not in that era.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
No, they don't operate like that. You're right about that.
All right, let's do it. Kyle Fisher is running me here.
Monday night football.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
We got two and oh, by the way, we got
ourselves at Phillies game that's beginning started at ten o'clock
as well, I believe, taking on the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
I'll be flipping between the two and probably falling asleep
during book.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
That's right, you and everybody else on the East coast.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Anyways, Buccaneers and Texans get the party started at seven
o'clock tonight, two and a half point favorites Houston at
home forty two and a half. And then at ten
o'clock tonight, Pete Carroll happy birthday. You know, like the
storyline storylines. We were just discussing Harball versus Carrol, going
back to USC and Stanford. Remember that, you know, back
and forth, there we go. We get it again at
(40:57):
the NFL level, you gotta love it. Chargers three and
a half point their own favorites against Vegas forty six
and a half as are toldal what does what do
the odds makers know in that one? I know the
Chargers were really impressive, but can the Raiders get a
little love? Anyways, Kyle Fischer, let's start with game one
here because I want to go a little in depth
on both as we close up shop for hour number
(41:18):
two here Daily ticket Bucks in the Texans?
Speaker 4 (41:22):
Why are the Texans two and a half point favorites?
If I think if you.
Speaker 1 (41:26):
Went around and asked ten one hundred NFL fans who's
the better team, they would say the Bucks.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
Like I think ninety people would say the Bucks. Betting splits.
Who knows? You get some contrarions out there, rightfully so?
Speaker 1 (41:41):
And of course Monday night football Texans looked bad against
the Rams, but they're good on defense. But the Bucks
they got a lot of things moving in their direction.
New offensive coordinator, new play callard. It's intrigued. Yeah, that's
gonna work out. But a plethoral weapons, even though that
they've been dealing with some injuries at the wide super
position do Godwin, but you're replacing them with Buka excuse me,
who's incredible two touchdowns in his debut, great run game,
(42:06):
Bucky Irving, Baker Mayfield. Still slinging at better defense this year.
I feel like, why are the Texans favorite?
Speaker 2 (42:14):
Well, the Classic, you typically get three for being at home,
so it's almost like a push, right, and I think
that the Texans are going to be a little juiced up.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
Stroud had a really good game.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
I know that it's different teams every year, but in
his rookie season against the Buccaneer Seat, I think threw
for over four hundred yards through five touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (42:31):
In the game.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
So he had a really good game against the Bucks
last time they faced off. I think that might be
weighing on some people. And also, yes, the Bucks have
a lot of weapons, and we talked about how much
we liked their offense during the preseason.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Show that we did.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
But they struggled to get past a Falcons team that
I don't think anybody would consider to have a stout defense.
Fine defense, but a stout defense, and they needed a
last minute score to only put up twenty three in
the game.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
So for me, that's probably the reason.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
You know, if they look a little constipated in week one,
how quickly do they fix that on the road? I
think that's why you're in push or less than plus
three territory in that one.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
Great use of constipation. I liked that. Nice about you
on that one, all right.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
So with that two and a half point spread here,
this evening game being played in Age Town, your expectations
where you looking when you start to break this game
down and maybe your angle on a prop or an
offensive play or something along those lines. What are your thoughts?
Where do you or do you start when you want
to go in depth on this breakdown here?
Speaker 2 (43:40):
So something that Eagles fans can relate to, whether they
love it or not. One thing that the Texans themselves
credited with how much they did to confuse Atlanta was
how they deployed Hassan Redick in the rush game.
Speaker 3 (43:54):
They moved him around a lot.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
I think that you're going to see a lot more
of that, especially because the big issue for me from
week one from Houston was they added a lot to
the offensive line. But at the end of last season,
we talked about a conversation that I heard Tony Romo
and the aforementioned Josh Cohen have about the names on
the line almost don't matter because the blocking schemes that
(44:17):
they're calling are subpar at best, and nothing has changed
in that regard in Week one this season. They have
not switched anything. So they're blocking schemes in the way
they prepare for the rush a deficiency.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
I know that they.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Added talent there, but if you are not setting those
guys up to attack the pressure that's coming, it doesn't
matter who you add to that line.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
And that is a.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
Very real problem for a guy in Stroud who needs
an extra second to get himself comfortable in the pocket.
So when you don't have that extra second and you
have somebody who's adept at rushing the passer like hasan Redick,
and you're deploying him in unusual ways, I think that's.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
Going to spell disaster for the Houston Texans offense.
Speaker 4 (45:01):
Interesting, Yeah, and they struggled.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
It was like almost last year, similar ways that the
Texans were losing in Week one. I get at one
game sample size, but the offensive line was a disaster.
And we talked about Tunsil being traded. Was he traded
or just like I forget, I think he was traded
to Commanders right, it was involved to trade, Yeah, and
you know, I know he didn't play well, but at
least it was a guy that, you know what, you
(45:24):
could hope would have a better season. They clearly wanted
to go in a different direction to get something different
happening in Week one. It did not happen that way.
So Stroud was was attacked, turnovers were happening, and the
Texans defense was being discussed a lot heading into the
season as one of the premier units out there. I
think they showed us a little something fourteen to nine
(45:46):
against the Rams again week one, so we don't know.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
This is a tough game.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
I won't lie, but I don't see how I could
pick against the Bucks here.
Speaker 4 (45:54):
I just and I'm a CJ.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
Stroud and Houston Texan believer, but I am going to
go with the Tampa Bay Bucks in this spot. Baker
Mayfield not good on Monday Night football in his career,
but I just feel like they have a better run game.
I liked what they look like on defense and on offense.
I think you're gonna see Mike Evans score a touchdown,
So give me the Bucks and a Mike Evans Tuddy.
Speaker 4 (46:18):
For me tonight in game one. Your final play for game.
Speaker 2 (46:20):
One, I'd go Bucks with the victory, but give me
a Chubb anytime touchdown.
Speaker 4 (46:28):
We're going hub for Kyle Fisher.
Speaker 1 (46:29):
Okay, Kyle Fisher wants Nick Schubb to score a touchdown.
That is at plus one fifteen here, plus one fifteen,
Bucky Irvin, even money, Nico Collins plus one twenty five.
Speaker 4 (46:40):
Mike Evans. Now if the plus one's sixty, I.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Like that, So Mike Vin's plus one sixty taking a
flyer on it choice. A booker's gonna have a lot
of attention today. All right, we know that that's gonna
be the case. They had success over the top. Mike
Evans underneath on the goal line. All he does is
catch touchdown passes. Let's go, all right, second game up
once again. Peek, Happy birthday, mister Carrol seventy four years young, Kyle.
(47:05):
As far as brock Bauer's health, it's a big talking point,
and rightfully so. It seems like he's gonna be good
to go. But something to keep your eyes on here.
As far as this game, is concerned. You're looking at
the three and a half for Chargers favored on the
road in Vegas forty six and a half. That place
is gonna be rocking tonight. I want to go with
the Raiders here, I do, but I feel like Justin
Herbert might be a man on a mission this year
(47:25):
and offensively with Harbaugh, I'm gonna lean towards the Chargers
in this one, and I think the odds makers are
kind of telling me a little something here. I hate
to say it like that. I don't like the three
and a half. If I can get it down to
a three flat, I love it.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
A lot more. Let's put it that way.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
But if you made me take a shot right now,
I'm probably going Chargers.
Speaker 3 (47:49):
If I have to pick, I would go Chargers as well.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
I think the big matchup for me to watch is
Bowers if he is a full go. They have some
injuries in the middle of that Charger defense. Denzel Perrman
sprained his ankle in the first half in that game Friday.
He's not gonna play hardball, said he wasn't sure if
he'd be put on injured reserve.
Speaker 4 (48:10):
Well.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
Another linebacker, del Shaun Phillips, also questionable with a tow injury,
and that's something that can easy flare up even if
he is good to go.
Speaker 3 (48:17):
Safety Elijah Molden is out with a hamstring injury. That's
a lot of people in the middle where Bowers thrives.
Speaker 2 (48:24):
That I think that if they have a chance, it's
abusing him in the middle of the field and just
letting that big body get a few extra yards for them.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
We'll have to see.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
I think everybody from fantasy perspective is going to be
watching Genty very closely. Can he take off against this defense?
I'm not confident in that. I again, if I'm making
a pick.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
I go Chargers.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
But an interesting matchup will be to watch can they
use gent and Bowers in the middle of the field
against a weakened secondary for the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Yeah, look, you Genty is the real deal. Minus one
five Bowers something to keep your eye out. We know
how explosive he is, but if he's hobbled, I don't
know if he's going to be the same type rock Powers.
But if he's going, come on, man, these guys are colladiators.
Plus one eighty five just something to target there. We'll see,
though it's gonna be a fun evening of sports, to
(49:14):
say the least. We got two Monday night football games
and how about them fightings. A quick thought on the
fightings before we get out of here, Kyle, as they
have clenched a playoff berth, but a big series against
the Dodgers. Still a lot of things to take care
of as far as postseason play is concerned.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
Yeah, I think that there's not a lot you can
tell about what the team is going to look like
in October at the moment.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
But I do love what I'm seeing right.
Speaker 2 (49:37):
I think that what Bader's doing in center field and
leading off has been enlightening for this team.
Speaker 3 (49:44):
The leadoff.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
He may not last there very long, he may end
up hitting four or five when Trey comes back. But
what guys like Otto Kem have been able to do,
what stop switching over to shortstop and playing with what
is a seemingly never ending rotation of second basement has
been impressive. Despite the fact that he's going to switch
back to the side come playoff times. I know that
they already have the playoffs locked up, and they'll have
the East locked up.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
Whether it's today or tomorrow, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
But I think they're going to have it locked up,
but I don't want them to get complacent now that
they've been in the playoffs and coast the rest of
the way. I want to see them and luckily they
have a two easier series at the end of the season.
But you're on the road on the West Coast against
two really good teams. Arizona is a place you have
not played well the last few seasons. I'd like to
see them go in there and win two out of
(50:30):
three in La, two out of three in Arizona before
coming home and really letting those guys rest up.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
Look before the end of the season.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
I asked Luke earlier, you know, on a scale of
one to five, five being yo' it's pedal to the
mental this team is hitting on all cylinders. Watch out
if the playoffs started today. Where are you at right
now with this team as a whole? Are they just
locked and loaded out of five?
Speaker 4 (50:51):
For you?
Speaker 1 (50:52):
Are they at four? You know you can see a
little bit more from power numbers or three. Where are
you at with that conversation?
Speaker 3 (50:59):
Four?
Speaker 2 (51:00):
Because if we're going on a scale of one to five,
I'm not gonna do the cheeky thing and go half numbers,
but we'll go four. I think that they're all hitting
very well. The few guys, I think Shorebur although he
has two homers in his last three games, he had
a little bit of a slow stretch there. The key
is when that happens. What we saw with this team
in the past is that they all got cold at once,
(51:22):
and that is not what is happening with this team
right now. Shoreber gets cold, well, marsh and Bader and
Kepler pick it up, and Castiano starts to warm up,
and Stott takes a back seat for a little bit.
These guys are picking each other up, and that is
the way you sustain success through the postseason. In the
last couple of years, it's everybody got cold at once.
You know, they had that lead in Arizona. Everybody got
(51:43):
cold at once. They were the favorites going into the
Mets Series. Everybody got cold at once. They were up
in the World Series.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
Get no hit. Everybody gets cold at once.
Speaker 2 (51:51):
If they can continue to not do that, I'm confident
enough in those three left handers in the rotation to
carry them the rest of the way.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
Well, by the way, one of those lefties go tonight.
Ranger Suarez minus one two versus the Dodgers this evening.
Great job across the board, Kyle. Once again, he'll be
heading on the road to Minnesota. Have you been there before?
Speaker 3 (52:12):
I have?
Speaker 2 (52:13):
Yeah, beautiful stadium. I got some burnt there the first
time despite it being indoors on side is open now
mirror style?
Speaker 4 (52:20):
That was fun? Are you yeah? Are you irish? You know? Well? Yeah,
well we could tell on that one if that's the case.
Nice work on.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
Someone told me that I didn't get burnt on Sunday
and I was like, am I just that read all
the time that you don't think I burned this weekend?
Speaker 4 (52:34):
I burned.
Speaker 3 (52:36):
I can feel it.
Speaker 1 (52:37):
That's funny. Yeah, it was a it was a hot
one yesterday. I'm sure I met life.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
Kyle. You're the best. What do you got cooking up
over at the Philly Sports Network?
Speaker 2 (52:46):
So we're gonna be on high alert putting together our
last clinching pieces. We have some folks working on an
outfield piece at the moment, we're determining who's going to
put the finishing touches on it and release it. But
just it today, both in the Metro as a full
pager and available on Philly Sportsnetwork dot Com. I released
an exclusive interview that I had with Max Kepler. He
(53:06):
was very candid talking about his emotional and mental.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
Journey this season.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
I asked him what the biggest thing that's clicked for him,
and he said, kind of just not caring as much
about being the newcomer and introducing myself to everybody and
making sure that I remember everybody's names and just getting
back to, hey, let's go out here, have fun and
play baseball. And he's not that I don't care about
those things, but I got so overwhelmed with that that
it kind of wore me out emotionally, and when it
was time to go on the field, I didn't have it.
(53:33):
He'sic and now I've just let those things go and
I'm ready to go. So if you want to hear
a little bit more about that, A really open, candid
conversation with a guy who's went from the edge of
being DFAED to now a contributor on a world series hopeful.
Speaker 1 (53:46):
Kyle Fisher once again in Philly Sports Network, bang up
job here on a daily ticket as always great to
have you, Kyle, can thank you enough.
Speaker 4 (53:53):
Good luck on all those plays.
Speaker 1 (53:54):
We'll be definitely looking out in a metro for Philly
Sports Network and of course doing a bang up job
over there and see me a sports You're the best, Kyle.
Always a pleasure, Thank you, sir man. There he is
once again on the Gambler stream all right, coming up
other side. Luke Garkany joined me earlier today. We'll run
that back a lot of Phillies conversation and we'll get
into the nuts and bolts of his big takeaways from
(54:17):
the Eagles victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (54:20):
They improved a two and oh.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
Oh, it might not have been a pretty game for
some people out there, but I was loving what I
was watching. Defensively, Davonte going up and making that big play,
and oh, by the way, just Tush pushing it all
over the field. And the Kansas City Chiefs, who have
a pretty good defensive line, pretty good defense coordinator, we're
able to get in the backfield, could not stop Jalen Hurts.
This is a daily ticket right here on the Gambler. Finally,
(54:45):
before we get out of here, though, just real quick,
if I could shout out to the friends over our
partners over at Playfly, what a weekend it was up
there at Penn State. I know I was giving Penn
State a little hard time with the game day experience
getting into the stadium, but man, it was so cool
up there and just seeing the people walking around and
just being fired up for some college football. And you know,
(55:06):
if I had to do it over again, I would
leave two hours to get to my seat earlier than normal.
But oh no, it was a great time. And the
Playfly folks over there, Nino and company just rolling out
the red carpet for us as the home for Villanova
football and basketball. Mark Farante coming through the show on
Friday was a big hit and just shows you what
(55:27):
we're in for. And we got ourselves a big basketball
season coming up with coach Willard Villanova hoops. We know
it was a little bit bigger deal, right, We're being
honest about that, So big season coming up here. We're
gonna be all over for you with college hoops season
right around the corner on the Gambler. But thank you
to everybody over there. I play Fly Sports, both Villanova
and Penn State.
Speaker 4 (55:47):
They were awesome.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
The people from Penn State Playfly were so cool and
they helped us out with everything we needed.
Speaker 4 (55:53):
And then some so thank you across the board that
will do it for me.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
Here once again Luke Arcaney joined me earlier. Trust me,
you don't want to us. That dial got you for
the next forty five minutes talking at all things Phillies
and a recap on the Eagles NFL or a excuse me,
week two of victory over to Kansas City Chiefs. I'll
talk to you tomorrow, brand new daily taking at three pm,
which Shapinnarden Studio.
Speaker 4 (56:14):
We'll go full three hours there. Enjoy the games, go
Phills and I'll talk to you
