Speaker 1 (00:00):
Number one on your car radio preset hand the new
and Improved. Iheard radio A W A Y and WD
two seven three D Philadelphia is Fox Sports Radio, The Gambler, Oh.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Fuck o'clock out here, Danny Chicken coming your way, Shambury
shan Manard having some funnier. You gotta reset some pages.
We got dancing music, Shaman. I got dancing on the
mind right now, as we're dancing into NFL Week three,
the Phillies dancing into the postseason.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Dance on my own, They'll dancing on we bringing it back.
Have To, I think have To. It's a good song.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
It's got the vibes like that. I'm in on it.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
I understand people want to bury it for like they
haven't won the World Series yet and they put off short.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
But I think there's something about it. Stubbs is back
in the full here.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
It's so. I think I remember the Eagles man the
Super Bowl day Lost. I ended up playing music during
the commercial breaks, and it was the party at a
friend's house and I played Oh it was halftime, and
I played that sundering a halt times. She started crying.
She's like, I loved this song. I love it. Yeah,
Phillies came up short, you know, and what it's it's gone.
(01:24):
You know, each season down more, one level down more.
It was the nl he was the World Series, NLCS, NLDS, yep.
And I just feel different this team. Let's open up
the five o'clock hour talking about exactly this team right here,
right now, Like I'm watching last night and I'm like,
oh yeah, trade full disclosure. I won't lie to you
(01:44):
one bit. The NFL college football has been front and
center since it's kicked off. I can't get enough of football.
I love football. Football is king. It's a great show
on the airwaves here between Beef and McClay. But you know,
and it's not to say that I'm not the pain
of the Phillies, but it's been in the background a
little bit here then compared to the whole summer. But
(02:06):
I love watching them. So I'm watching last night and
I'm like, oh, yeah, that's right, Trey turners out for
a little bit. That's right. That's a tough laws.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
I had a schedule. By the way, part Rob Thompson, that's.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Great to hear. And I think that we were all
very hopeful that would be the case. But you know,
you're looking around and still this team is battling back,
coming back and winning that game without Trey out there
at shortstop. And if they do get a guy who
was potentially going to be the best hitter in the
National League winning that award, then look out, you know,
the rich get richer. So I love the pitching staff. Oh,
(02:41):
by the way, without Zach Wheeler, it's absurd what they're
able to do. But I opened up the show saying
this about the Phillies. All season long, I have just
had so much joy watching these dudes compete. I know,
Kyle Schwerber with the bombs is setting the table and
that's a lot of fun. But it goes more than that.
It really goes into, of course, the Alec Bohms and
(03:02):
the guys that have been here and the success that
they're seeing again this year. Bryce Harper being of course
the showman, the leader, a JT who has been balling
this year coming up clutch. I can go on and on,
but this team has been such a joy to watch,
and oh, by the way, they're winning. There's nothing better
than that.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Yeah, even guys like cat Player finding a way to
find their role make an impact, and it's been a
rocky season for a ton of guys. I think it's
sort of has gotten overlooked the bumps in the road
that this Phillies team has faced for all the reasons
that you just mentioned them. It has not been all
like rosy outlook. They found a way to keep producing
victories and stay on the right track even when it
hasn't felt like that was always going to be the case.
So I think the season is a testament to sort
(03:42):
of the business like mentality that they've had from start
to finish this year.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
And the goals are still right ahead of them.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
So they're just ramping up for the most important part
of this stretch, but can't be happy with what they
brought to the table to this point.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Well, the Phillies landed in LA according to MLB dot
Com a little before two am two am locals. I'm
then seven hours several hours later than scheduled because they
had another mechanical issue with their plane. It's happened a
few times this year to the Phillies. But they played
the Dodgers at seven ten pm, and then after it
(04:14):
is all said and none, This is how it sounded,
courtesy of the Phillies Radio network.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
Two balls, two strikes, spaces loaded, two outs to pitch.
Swinging aboutcher the first, Harper gloves it, takes it himself
and the Phillies take the National League East Division crown.
It's their second straight Divisional crown.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
As the Phellies come.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Running out of the dugout and share hugs on the
pitchers mound at Dodgers Stadium.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
I'll tell you what on my timeline, I hate to
go from that to this. I have a guy that
is just so anti Baitter. It's like this dude has
tweeted me paragraphs now about how Baitor will struggle come
playoff time and that's why you need to play in
the Castiano. So again, things shame changed when Baterer was
brought in and the platoon needed to happen. But Rob
(05:04):
Thompson deserves all the credit in the world. Certainly the
front office for making the move, no doubt, but Rob
Thompson the way he has handled this, and it hasn't
been easy. I'm sure Castianos is not a guy that
it's easy to bench. But it's happened, and you know what,
whatever he's doing, I don't think you changed that. I
get it. Maybe you want to really like, we all realize.
(05:26):
We all realize the playoff pitching is different than regular
season pitching. I'm not here to make out Harrison Bader
into some player that he's not. But he's been playing
very well. I think Luke Carcan and yourself agreed that
he's been the best player on this team since he's
been acquired back in August. The first you know his
numbers are there, it's hard to argue he deserves playing time.
(05:49):
But just like, okay, you tell me what Nick Castianos
is all of a sudden gonna like the world on
fire come playoff time.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
He hit well last year. I'll give you that last year.
I'm a Nick Casians defender here. I and by the way,
twenty one career average in the playoffs. He's got his flaws,
like he's not perfect, but I will not let it
be forgotten that he was their best hitter in the.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Playoffs last year.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
And I also think, to his credit that you're definitely right,
he's not the easiest guy to throw on the bench.
I give him credit that I do think he's a
guy that's motivated by kicking the butt, though like he
has not thrown his head down and powded. He's still
for the most part, delivered for this Phillies team. So
I still think Castianis is an important part of this
overall roster.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
All Right, Well, I'm not going to sit here and
say that it is going to be one guy over
the other that is going to lead the charge. From
the outfield perspective, I think, you know, like I said,
Thompson has been calling the right shots. Yeah, so how
do you argue with the way he's going to go
about it come playoff time? Like if he thinks Harrison
(06:46):
Bater deserves the the starts and then Nick Casti is
coming off the bench to pinch hit, isn't that the
way it should be? Right? I just like Harrison Bater
is a heck of a lot better fielder out there.
I just feel like he should be getting the run.
His numbers are backing it up. I get it. It's
a different game come playoff time. So we got to
talk about matchups. So we're getting a little ahead of ourselves.
(07:07):
But to be as adamant as this guy is, like
dude slow down and Bata's guy with some playoff scars.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
By the way, this dude has been to battle but
been in the big moment and had some highs like
to his time with the Yankees, especially, there's impressive numbers
and looked look the part when it was on the
field him him, and like really looking like one of
the more competent players on that overall roster doing that run.
So I think Beata is going to be a huge
part and it is really impressive. Like I don't think
any of us really blinked eye when this trade went
(07:35):
through of like he's fine, He's a good addition. This
is another guy that saying I did not expect him
to be this seamless fit the way that it has
been that everything has sort of fallen into place around it,
and the most balanced center field that they've had in
several years at this point when you factor in the
defense and everything else.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
I'm a bater guy. How could I say I'm a
beatter guy than say in the next breath, Well, you
got to ride off with what Thompson? No, he needs
to play. I don't care if it's the postseason.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
What's your outfield right now? If you're Rob Thompson, this
is game one of the playoffs right now? What do
you roll out?
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Oh man? That's a good one. Well, who are they facing?
That's that's where it's got to start, right, you know,
give me the give me the picture that they're going
up against. We got to open up with that, right.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
It's alrighty, it's tough to bench Marsh the way that
he's hitting right hand.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
You're right about that. Marsh has been playing well, I
would I would have Bader and center. I'm not playing Kepler. No, no,
does that it make my answer even easier?
Speaker 4 (08:34):
So you're going Marsh and CASTI yeah, okay.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yeah, I'm not playing Kepler. I'm just not doing it.
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
I kind of think Max Kupler is gonna have a
big hit in him come playoff time.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
I don't mind. Again, Like, what's his pinchheading numbers? Right?
Like it? It doesn't seem like him coming off the
bench and pinch hitting would be a bad thing. But
I could get down with Castianos being my pinch hitter
as well.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Yeah, right out on three straight balls? Can you imagine
that as the pin hit performance?
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Well, what's swinging at balls on the outside? That's what
I think of a little cassiy Yeah, yeah, I'm not
playing Kepler. I'm gonna roll with uh with with Beader
out there, but we'll see a long way ago. They
have a lot to play for. Oh, by the way,
the Phillies or back in action this evening taking on
the Dodgers Game two show Hay versus Christopher Sanchez and
(09:27):
we are looking at right now draft Kings sports book
plus one thirteen for Christopher Sanchez seven half so I
told him I just one thirty seven for show. Hey,
Otani with the Dodgers. Here is your internet doing that
right over there. You're a little blurred out. You're hiding.
Oh you're good.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, I think unfortunately this is a part of them
with the main computer, which I don't think that makes
it much better. But that does seem to be like this, yes,
huh yeah, how is it this?
Speaker 4 (09:53):
iHeart Ron, I.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Need you Rod, great guy. We got some great engineers
behind the scenes here. Okay. It is interesting because as
I look up here, you're blurry here, but then you
look down at the actual feed and you're fine. Yeah.
Do you think that's that does happen from time to time?
Speaker 3 (10:10):
All right, let me throw an at your brace ring
the nl MVP. It's gonna be show. He Tani oh,
it's not even a question. But why is it not
even a question? Why is Kyle Schwarbur Not because Show
Hey and what he does on a nightly.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Basis is dazzle is wow. Schwarber's having a fantastic season.
Schwarber's having a great season, an amazing season. His numbers
when you get in depth about going up against left
handed pitching too, he's better versus lefties than he is righties.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
His most home runs against left handed pitching of any
player in baseball.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
I think this like should be a coin flip type
of race.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Come on, does it change your mind that Kyle Schwarbert
has played more innings in left field is pitching?
Speaker 2 (10:51):
No?
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Because I think that's a huge part of things. I
think the show Heytani has this locked up conversation is
when he's a legitimate part of the pitching rotation, which
he has not in this year, nor has he been
good in those opportunities when he's been pitched for the
most part.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Is he already's like a little below four this year.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yount Getre were at twenty to one. You don't take
a flyer on it, uh.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
I see like I can read the odds well enough
to understand that the race is over here.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
I do voters are going to give it the show.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
A if this I feel like this should be like
a competitive race going down to the wire. It's clear
that it's not. But I don't see what I don't
show Hatani's unbelievable. He's one of the best players in baseball.
The guy that I believe will retire is the best
player to ever play base There's your intent, but for
this specific season, it's.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Like you look at cal Rawley and what he's doing.
He's hitting bombs. Don't get me wrong, but Aaron Judge
is having a fantastic year. Yeah, fantastic year, and he's
going to be the a L MVP and a showy Oh.
It's just one of those things where I just don't
have to overthink it, right, That's the way I feel it.
It's just like show hey is just so special of
(11:57):
a player. When he swings, it's a different swing. Shout out.
We did lose a legend Robert rev for I was
about to say, he's the natural, and that's why the
movie came into my head, like, yeah, Robert Redford passed away.
One of the great movies of all time. As far
as baseball is concerned. The natural but uh, you know
we're talking about show. Hey. When he swings, it's just
(12:19):
like the pop Nobody. Nobody's pop is louder than showy tons.
He hits the ball the hardest.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Kyle Schwarve is not far behind him, man like that.
I think they're one and two in that cogary judges
in the mix as well.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
So maybe if you want to throw it, I.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Feel right, I don't want to undersell Schwarber. What did
I say if he had he had hit sixty bombs
to win it?
Speaker 4 (12:42):
He might like, he what's he up to? Fifty three?
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Now? Right?
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Yeah, he's he's got four more home runs to the show. Hey,
he's got the show. Hayes got ninety three RBIs Kyle
Schwarmer's got one hundred and twenty eight like this is
they're very close to me, and the number is like
the slugging percentage.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
The better for show, Hey, ops, better for show. Hey
like show.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
He's like, don't get me wrong, this isn't turning into
an anti show heye of tany.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
And I don't want to come off as an anti
Schwerber guy.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
I just I don't think this is don't think about it.
Move Flarda up two spots in the poll.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
I think this is a like dive into the analytics
and have an actual take here. Do you think Schwerber
has a chance. I don't, but I think he should.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah, that's kind of where it is, right, And I
do have a Schwerber ticket that I placed a long,
long time ago, so that would be a great, great
victory out of nowhere. But I'm not holding my breath
on that one. Yes, show he just he dazzles people.
He's out there in LA. He's great, and it feels
like anytime Shoorbt hit home run. Show, Hey we hit
home run. So we'll see what his little less times. Yeah,
(13:42):
you're right about that. No, you're right. I don't know.
Julian Edlow joined us a couple of weeks ago a
DraftKings sportsbook, and he's not a baseball guy. But I
did ask him from a voting perspective, is there any
chance that he thinks that it could happen where Schwerber
pulls off the upset? He said yes, Wow, So I
did change my take, and he said it was simply
(14:04):
based off of you don't ever doubt a voter, like,
don't ever just think that they're locked in and it's
going to be one player. No, because voters will often
be fickle and they'll change their mind and maybe they
don't want to go with the crowd, they want to
go against the grain. But I just feel like show
Hey is one of those guys that we all say
the same thing after it's all said and done, he
(14:25):
is going to be the greatest baseball player we've ever
seen play. Part of that is because he pitches. You're right, yeah,
but he's coming back from major surgery and he's working
himself into it and that they've had a pretty good plan.
He has had some good starts right this year.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
How many how many innings do you think he's pitched
this year?
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Well, they had him on the short leash way early
in the in the in the season, he didn't start
until what June. Pitching I believe, so not much. Give
me a number.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
I'm researching it as we speak. He's pitched in two
all games, He's pitched thirty six innings.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
This I was gonna say under fifty.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
Like that's nothing.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Essentially, I get it's still thirty six innings, but like,
I don't think when you're like, I think that should
basically be disqualified.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
From any part of the MVP talk. Okay, and you
might be right. You might be right. I just feel
like the odds have been telling us that this race
is over for a long time. I feel like the
the voters are going to say that, Man, it's it's
one of those Kobe and Steve Nash deals where it's like, man,
you're not gonna give it to the best player in
(15:32):
the league, Like show Hey is the best player in
the league, him and Judge. So I don't know, but
you know, the voters are voters, and anything is possible.
So right now on DraftKings, twenty to one for college
Swaber a good number if you feel like it. Show
Hey is a slam dunk favorite at this point in time.
Good luck on that, all right? Once again, Phillies and
(15:53):
a Dodgers Game two coming up here on a little
bit later tonight ten ten PM. I don't want to
squeez in college football conversation because it was a big
time college football weekend for us as we were up
at Penn State for all things Week three in Penn
State fifty two to six. Your final score once again,
head coach Mark Ferrante's show coming up right here on
The Gambler Live from Chicky's and Pete in Malvern. First
(16:16):
one in Malvern. Was there a performance or a team
that grabbed your attention and a result that maybe pushed
you one way or the other From last week's college
football card shopping, we haven't really talked to any college yet.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Yeah, I thought Oregon looks unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
That Texas Georgia game really took the cake for like
my weekend takeaways there, and I got to give him
a little bit of love. I know that Tennessee came
out on the losing side there, but Joey Aguilar, welcome
to the conversation of like legitimate top end college football quarterbacks,
because that's exactly what he looks like.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Twenty seventy one and four touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Yeah, jump from plus forty five hundred to plus sixteen
hundred in Heisman odds just after this weekend.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
And again that's coming after a loss there.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
So I think even the most like hardcore Tennessee faithful
weren't sure what they were getting with the Joey Aguilar experience.
I believe Apple ash from transfer at Last and State
transfer guy there, but yeah, he looks the part to me.
So Tennessee has kind of climbed in the conversation, and
this may be a college football playoff threat in a
way that I did not perceive them that way coming
into the season.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Yeah, we're already in a week four here, so we
move into some juicier games as September comes to a close.
Not just yet, but we will get some better matchups,
including this week. We got some good ones as well.
I guess you know. The big one would be A
and M. Of course we hype that one up and
the way that they won at the end. Read has
got nine touchdowns one interception on the season and not
(17:33):
the best game from him as far as seventeen to
thirty seven, but did end up with three sixty two
touchdowns on the road in Notre Dame in a game
that they needed to find a way to win. That
was one result that had my attention. And of course
Vandy in South Carolina was a game that we discussed
a ton on the show leading up to it and
Vandy laying the lumber on them. Of course, Sellers gets
(17:54):
hurt and that changes how that game played out. But
all in all, Vandy is the real deal and Georgia
Tech opening up the game with the upset victory over Clemson.
Clemson stinks, Yeah, they do. They're in trouble. They are
in trouble. Georgia Tech deserves a ton of credit for
winning that game, finally finding a way to get over
the hump, and they look like a team that could
very well be in competition for a playoff spot. I know,
(18:16):
we got a long way to go, an interesting schedule
for them, to say the least, CAL also in the ACC.
Watch out for them. I know it's very odd to
say the CAL is in the ACC, but with their
schedule remaining, I think people are trying to talk themselves
into potentially being a team to come out of that conference.
It's gonna be interesting, as we often say, coming down
the stretch to see who's in the playoffs and who's not,
(18:37):
And especially with only one year in from the college
football playoff happening, So who's gonna come up short? Because
that was the big talking point last year where teams
were on the outside looking in that potentially deserve to
be in. And right now, I don't know how that's
gonna play up because we've got way too many games
to be played. So but some of the games that
did grab my attention. I think you're right when we
(18:58):
got to look at what Tennis and Georgia game was
came down to. Also, you have to continue to look
at LSU went in tough football games in Miami. Yeah,
which more in that game to do with South Florida
than anything, because you know that they started smelling themselves.
But Miami is the real deal now three and zero
on the season, forty nine to twelve, big time victory
(19:19):
where there are a lot of people saying that South
Florida was to play in that one.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
Yeah, and I was one of them, So.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
I have to eat those a little bit that I
was buying the ball.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Those college kids were out there partying all weeks show.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Yeah, yeah, well I kind of it'd take two ways.
So obviously the week before that, South Florida upset Florida
and there were a ton of takeaways based off that.
Then of course we get Miami versus South Florida this
week and Miami just kind of dog walks them, and
we get Florida versus LSU. Els you edged out of
twenty to ten victory here, I think there's not enough
credit being given to LSU for getting a victory and
(19:51):
a pretty spirited Florida effort, and a little bit too
much praise being given to Miami for just dominating a
USF team. And I also want to know if you
were at all a Garrett nous Meier believe from a
Heisman Trophy perspective, the time to get on the Nuss
bus is right now that he's dropped a plus thirteen
hundred in Heisman odds.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
He was a plus eight hundred favorite as of two
weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Here he's gonna be in a ton of primetime action
down the stretch of this season. They're three to zero.
You're not gonna get a better number than that, and
I think now is the time to bet. I got
to write up on DraftKings Network about that nice and
I do think that if you want to get in
the Garrett or Garrett Nusburger Heisman experience, now is the time.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
It's interesting when you look around the quarterbacks that will
be potentially there and you want to go down the
card to find one or two that you can find
with some big numbers attached to it. But you're right,
you got to look at what the matchups would be
and where they'll be playing. Dampier could be you know,
coming out of of course with Utah and as a
darn good team could be potentially undefeated and twenty to
(20:50):
one would be a name. Agilar could be throwing up
some serious numbers. But if they lose again, are they
out of it? Jeremiah Smith had a big game, albeit
not against the best competition. What's Ohio State's schedule looking like? Here?
What do they got going on here?
Speaker 3 (21:04):
I want to say they put Ohio this week? No,
they just yeah, they just wumped them up. Yeah, Ohio State.
They won thirty seven to nine in that one. But
they have Washington the they have the week off as
a couple teams from the Big ten do. Then they
have Minnesota. Illinois could be a tough one. Illinois top
ten ball club right now. Wisconsin, then Penn State at
(21:26):
the Shoe on November first. Wow, that's gonna be a
banger of a game if both teams run the table
up until that point. Even if there's one loss, it's
gonna be a great game. Even if Penn State slips
up against Oregon, which I do think is a potential
spot where they could get upset Ohio State against Purdue,
UCLA Wow, Rutgers, and then in Michigan closing up shop
(21:47):
against Michigan at the end of the year as they
do every single season. That's an easy schedule. Jeremiah Smith
needs to put up better numbers. Yeah, nine grabs, one
and thirty seven yards one touchdown. It's not the season
that I thought he was going to.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
I thought we would be looking at, you know, a
player that would be getting three touchdowns, two touchdowns and games.
He's fifth in Heisman yea, Yeah, I have a future
on him in the preseason. That is my horse that
I am riding still at this point in time, and
I believe that he will be the guy that gets
the job done. But you're right, when you look at
the schedule, you gotta look at the quarterbacks first. Who's
(22:20):
playing prime time matchups? Who you think is going to
win some of these games? Will it be Mateer, who's
the odd odds on favor right now in DraftKings sportsbook
eight to one or Carson back at nine to one?
Can they continue to win? We'll see what's Miami's schedule.
Let's pull that up Miami.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
I got a couple of big games. So they got
a Tennessee matchup, if I'm not mistaken, Florida State, Florida State, Florida.
They got Florida this weekend. Let's see here, Florida State
back to back. Now, they got a week off there
at the end of September.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
So they go Florida, Florida State, Louisville. They got another buye. Okay,
then they go Stanford SMU Syracuse and State Virginia Tech
Pitt hmm, Yeah, that seems like that would be a
bunch of wins down the stretch here. So they get Louisville,
they could potentially lose, Florida State could get him, don't
(23:10):
know yet. That's that's in Tallahassee. And they're not losing
this week to Florida, no way.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
I know you're an arch manning guy, Sean Brace, what's
your panic meter?
Speaker 2 (23:20):
At no panic? Yeah, he was just hyped up a
little bit too much, and I'll put my hand in
the air. I thought it was a slam dunk overall
number one pick. I thought he was a little bit better,
but something's changed in his delivery. Yeah, the game obviously
is a little bit more difficult for him at this
point in time, and maybe it's in his best interest
to to hone in and work on his game a
(23:42):
little bit more in stay next year. I don't know,
but I definitely did think he would be lighting it
up a little bit more, to the point that we
would be talking about him as a slam dunk overall
one quarterback and potentially more of a favorite to win
the High Where is he at even on that card.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
He's dropped a plus thirty five hundred. Yeah, he is
two four six, eight, ten, twelve, fourteen, sixteen, eighteen, twentieth.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Yeah. Yeah, I would assume I would have thought that
we'd be talking about him as a top five contender. Yeah,
as he came into the season as the favorite RT
not saying anything that nobody should be believing him. But
no panic, no panic, It's just he was hyped up
a little bit more. He's still a darn good talent. Yeah,
still has a great arm athleticism. I like his mental makeup.
The bloodline, of course, goes hand in hand.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
We're gonna see though, because he's there's some booze coming
out for arch Man and the numbers are just not
looking the part there like this is gonna be a
mentally challenging stretch for Art, so we'll see if he's
really built for it like that, he just looks young.
To me, he looks way younger and inexperienced than I
expected to be the case.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
I thought this was gonna be a day one. This
dude is made for it type of guy.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Yeah, No, you're right. I agree with you on that one.
Utah and Texas Tech open up with top twenty five
card this weekend. Utah and Texas Tech. That game is
being played at noon. That's the big new kickoff there.
Utah at home. They are three and a half point favorites.
Both teams three and oh. Texas Tech spent a ton
of money this offseason. That was well detailed, and Utah
(25:14):
just looks like they're the real dang deal. They got
some really good quarterback play. That's what they were missing
last year. A pretty good season last year, but they
fell short on a few games because of the bad
quarterback play. That has changed. I love Utah. It's hard
to go in there and win. I would take Utah
in that spot. That's our first game at noon. UB
and Tennessee is at twelve twelve forty five. Kick you
(25:34):
don't see many of those Tennessee coming off of that loss.
They're back at home, hopefully that kicker is still alive
thirty nine and a half point favorites there. Oregon thirty
four and a half against Oregon State. That should be
a blowout. Kent State and Florida State. The flashes of
Kent State forty four and a half. Florida State's favorite there.
Auburn and Oklahoma. That's a good matchup. Oklahoma at home
(25:58):
six and a half point favorites three thirty. Of course,
Oklahoma lumping up Temple here? What did Auburn have Auburn?
If I'm not I, why might not? Jonna Blanker? Oklahoma
lumped up Temple? Yeah? Yeah, Oklahoma lumped up Temple, South Alabama,
Ball State and Baylor. As we watched the first game
against Baylor thirty eight twenty four, they won. Uh nationally
(26:19):
televised game. M that's an interesting game. I probably lean Oklahoma.
That's a big number at six and a half, but
I think Oklahoma's to play here. I know I think
Oklahoma will win. Let's put it that way. Uh. Tulane
and Ole Miss, watch out Old Miss. They're eleven and
a half point favorites. That game's going off for three
thirty both teams three and oh maybe sneaky watch out
for Tulane in that one.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
I like Tulane the Green Wave of if I got
the team name right there, put together a little bit
of a squad, so I know I headed up a
ton of good things about them in preseason. I haven't
been checked into a ton of their action to this point,
but that is a team that I was pretty opt
optimistic about coming into the air and think they could
look the part.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
So how don't mind that? Take Michigan the Brass both
oh no excuse me, mission has two and one, Nebraska
three and oh. The game's being played in Nebraska. Michigan
a two and a half point road favorite. Wow. Yeah.
Purdue and Notre Dame. Notre Dame oh and two, but
they're twenty five and a half points favorites against Purdue.
Perdue did covered the number against usc but came up
(27:18):
short at home. Temple and Georgia Tech Georgia Tech three
and oh, Temple two and in one. Georgi Tech twenty
three and a half point favorites there for three. That
game's being played in Atlanta, Missouri and South Carolina. What's
the latest with Sellers is he out? It seems to
be trending that direction.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
I don't think there's been an official announcement yet, but
we got some line movement that indicates that's likely the case.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Eleven and a half point favorites. Missouri at home, Florida
and Miami seven and a half. We talked about that one.
The desperation for Florida didn't come through against LSU. I
don't expect it here. I think Miami rolls Illinois and
Indiana is probably one of the bigger games, if not
the biggest game on the card this weekend. Yeah, Illinois
has been a lot of people sat Illinois would be
(28:01):
this year's India, last year's Indiana. They're three and oh,
they've looked a part. Indiana has had their moments. They
are five and a half point favorites. Indiana has not
played anybody Indiana State, Kannessas State and Old Dominion, but
they did just throw up seventy three points against Indiana State,
so they're ride and high in that one. I kind
of like Illinois to keep it close and maybe go
(28:23):
in there and win that game. They look great against
Duke I thought Duke was a good team. They give
me Illinois on that one as well. Georgia State Vandy
Vandy three and oh their twenty six and a half
point favorites at home. LSU Southeast. I want to say,
see is at Southeast Louisiana. Yeah, Southeasternia Southeastern. Excuse me?
(28:43):
That game has a no number attached to it. Texas
taking on Sam Houston at forty and a half. And
then finally late night USC and Michigan State Michigan State
three and oh. On the season, they're catching eighteen and
a half. Michigan State beat Youngstown State, beat Boston College
forty two to forty in the in the Week two matchup,
(29:04):
and took out Western Michigan in Game one from the
MAC of twenty three to six. So watch out Michigan
State could be a sneaky good play there as well.
Like I said, USC did not cover the number against
Purdue last weekend. A lot of college football conversations coming
your way, as it always does here in the Gambler.
We'll see, we'll see. I know that we got a
couple different shows that cover the great game of college football.
(29:26):
I gotta get with our guy, Beef, Ryan Beef coiled
to pin him down to figure out where all. Like,
you know, I thought about him dancing. I was working
out this morning and I'm like, oh yeah, I forgot about.
Speaker 4 (29:37):
Beef ripping the shirt off in the stands.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
He did go tarps off in the standard. It was hot.
It was it was hot. But Beef celebrated his birthday
and Beef was out there cutting a rug at every
stop we made with shades on. I mean, Beef's young.
You can get away with that when you're young. I
felt like his dad though, like you know, making sure
that hein get his ass beat, Like just the hanging out. Yeah,
(30:00):
it's is right there, you can do it. It's good.
He didn't do anything wrong. But it was fun. A
lot of fun out there at happy value, to say
the least. Let's keep it moving. Other side. Will come
back to some of the big debates that I want
to get into with Sean Bernard from the NFL. We'll
talk about the toughest division to handicap is this Lamar
Jackson year. And we'll discuss a few other odds and
(30:22):
ends as far as the great Game of the NFL
is concerned. Plus coming up at six o'clock, we got
head coach Mark Ferranti from Villanova live at Chickis and
Pete's in Malvern. As a tough game against Penn States,
but the season rolls on and you're talking about a
great program at Villanova that we'll be back into the playoffs,
(30:42):
bar and none. They'll bounce back in a big way.
We'll hear about all that coming up at six o'clock
with the coach Mark Ferrante Show Live from Chickis and
Peats and Malvern. He's Sean Minard. I'm Sean Bracemore. After this, Taylor,
(31:04):
take it with you here, Shabra sham Banard coming down
the home stretch here on a Tuesday. Yeah, Robert Redford
passing away? You know about him, sham Manard.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Well, lie, not a ton not a movie guy, you're not.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
I'm not. Huh. What's the last movie you saw?
Speaker 4 (31:21):
Happy Gilmore too?
Speaker 2 (31:23):
That's why that's why you're not a movie guy. Yeah,
the movie. Yeah, I bet man he's got some great,
great movies. And man born in nineteen thirty six a
long long time ago, lived eighty nine years of age.
That's a hell of a life. Hell of a life.
And I'm trying to pull up as I am dB
(31:45):
right now, but he had some great movie. He's just
a great actor, great actor, like very smooth. President's Men,
of course, is definitely one. I think it like, why
can't I pull up his dang? I am like because
I'm trying to find out like his latest movies, like
(32:06):
All the President's Men was from a little while ago.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Yeah, truthfully, this is a guy who I've seen all
the praise for and a bunch of you know people
you know, saying he's utility basically not really a guy
that I was aware of.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Yes, I like The Naturals from nineteen eighty four is
a great movie. It's a great baseball movie, and some
would say it's their favorite baseball movie of all time.
But in nineteen eighty four, a lot of the movies
he did was from a long long time in, you know, eighties.
To me, I was born eighty ones, not that long ago,
but of course it's story twenty five. It was a
long time ago for a lot of people. But I'm
(32:40):
trying to think this thing was a great movie that
I was like, told you need to watch, and I did,
and it felt it was exactly what people trying to
build it up to be Lines for Lambs with Tom Cruise.
If I remember that, I think that was a pretty
decent one as well. Could be mistaken, but man, just
(33:01):
a great actor that was very popular, a good looking
dude and was able to make a name for himself
in like the seventies, and like I said, from some
of those great movies. All is Lost on the Rotten
Tomatoes is from twenty thirteen, and it's number one on
his list. Wow, it's pretty good if he's getting that
(33:25):
put on his list at twenty thirteen. The Old Man
in the Gun, I guess I gotta go back and
see this one, all right, I gotta go watch this
one because this is from twenty eighteen. It was his
number three on his list. The Sting was really interesting
because Paul do you know Paul Newman?
Speaker 4 (33:43):
I know the name great. You probably know from the
Salsa Okay, maybe.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Paul Newman a legendary actor, and he was in that
as well. That was the movie that I never watched,
never heard of it, and somebody was like, dude, you
gotta watch it because it had gambling in it. It
was like a casino that was kind of like a
not I forget the terminology I'm trying to use here,
(34:08):
but it was like a fake casino without trying to
give away the movie in nineteen seventy three.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
All right, if you could pick an actor to play
your life, who would be Sean Brace Brad Pitt? Okay
it does he have to be bald? No, No, dealer's choice.
Like we got makeup, you know we can. We can
do some things.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
I'm about Matt Damon, Okay, Matt Damon is a stud
I'm a big Matt Damon guy. Big Matt Damon guy
is a great actor. If he's in a movie, you
got my attention. Leo would be at the That's an
easy one to take. And he's got a new movie
up getting all this buzz right now. Really yeah, he's
got all sorts of buzz right now. I think I
(34:54):
would be an Adam Sandler guy.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
It feels like my my vibe, my lane and in
my limited actor ROLLODECKX.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
There yeah, exactly, all right, it's the daily ticket. We're
coming out to home stretch here once again at a
Fox PHL game. We get involved in the conversation and
NFL would love to discuss with you some of the
big talking points here when it comes to where we're
at right now currently in this season, and I want
(35:23):
to know from you as far as the toughest division,
Sean Bedard, the toughest division for you in the NFL,
the handicap, where are you at with that conversation, the
toughest one, which one you think is up for grabs
the most right now?
Speaker 3 (35:36):
So as far as to win the division most difficult, correct,
I probably leaned the AFC West though with the Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders,
and Chargers there. The Chargers is currently leading things to
and out like I think if things break correctly, all
four of these teams could make the playoffs, with the
Raiders the least likely in that conversation, But I don't
believe the Chiefs are going to stay down at the
bottom there. I do believe Denver is going to play
(35:57):
better than they look to this point. So I think
the AFC West is wide open for the taking.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Okay, AFC West involved for the taking? Interesting, all right? Hmm,
it's hard. Yeah, Look, you know, because are you're not
ready to give it to the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
The Chiefs are not gonna go away like the Chiefs
are currently last currently the standings, the Chargers in the
lead with the two and zero record, both the Raiders
and Broncos are one and one, and the Chiefs are
owing to at the bottom. There Again, I think all
four of these teams could potentially be playoff teams. I
think there's a zero chance the Chiefs finished this season
and fourth here. I think they're going to string together
some win wins, So I think there's completely this division
(36:36):
is still completely up for grabs.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
H all right, what are we saying about the South
with the Colts, the Jags, the Texans, and we'll put
the Titans to the side.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
Different kind of battle as I think when we have
the AFC West conversation, I'm viewing all these teams as
potential playoff threats. When we're having the AFC Sath conversation,
I don't really view any of them.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Houston.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
I've been really discouraged how c de Straud has looked,
how non existent in that offensive line is that should
be the best team in this division. I'm still not
sure how much I'm buying is real about this Colts
two and oh start. It's tough to dispute how Daniel
Jones has look So that's certainly in the conversation here,
I think at one way or another that Houston still
finds a way to win this division.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
All right. The NFC East, is this an Eagle slam dunk?
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Yeah, this is an Eagle slam dunk. I think it's
one of the easier races, to be honest. The Cowboys
will be around, the Commanders will take a hit after
that Jade Daniel's injury. But the Eagles are the defending
champions and have looked maybe not look the part, but
they're two and oh. A win is a win, and
they got more levels that they can unlock for sure.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
And the NFC North with the Packers, the Lions and
the Vikings and put the Bears to the side.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
I think the Packers are a tier above the other teams,
I really do.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Yeah, I think so too. They're minus two hundred DJ
Lions plus two seventy there, So that's an easy one
as far as that is concerned. Let's see here. And
then the NFC South, Bucks and Falcons.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
That's a good there. It's just a top heavy one,
is I think it'll come down to those two. I
don't think the Panthers and certainly not the Saints really
are a threat to win that division. I think Tampa
Bay is gonna be in the driver's seat, not let
their foot off the gas. With that said, I do
still think the Falcons are a playoff team, so a
good division could be a decent race there. I think
because it's just the two of them sort of disqualifies
it from this list for me.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
All right, And as far as what we're looking at
right now, who you got making the playoffs that might
be on the outside looking in for most people? Is
there a sleeper team? Because I look at the yes
and the no from the playoff perspective and whether or
not we can find a way to win some cash
here with some big numbers attached to it, I'll be
(38:42):
it week two, so it's early or week three excuse
me at this point in time, but a long way
to go. Is there a team that you think, you
know what, watch out? I still got them in the
I'm gonna have them making the playoffs here.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Yeah, Landa is a team I've banged the drum for
pretty heavily on the Kansas City Chiefs that minus won
sixty five odds to make the playoffs and DraftKings. You're
not gonna get any better than that, and I think
that's a good wager to place at this stage in
the game. The Falcons numbers sitting at plus one fifteen
here scrolling around a little bit. The Raiders number at
plus three hundred is interesting to me. I can see
(39:16):
that team being like nine or ten and seven, nine
and eight type of team, and right on the border
line there. I think plus three hundred it's a pretty
good numbers. So if I'm if I'm calling the shot
a little bit, it might be the Raiders from a
payoff perspective, plus three hundred odds.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
All right, we'll keep the NFL conversation going. Got to
step aside for a quick time out. We'll be back
to wrap it up and hand things off to see
Panona and head coach Mark Faranti live from Chickens and
Pete's in Malvern for the head Coach Mark Ferrante's show,
presented by budd Leet right here on the Gambler. Don't
go ever more up to this. It's a Tuesday, it's
(39:53):
the Daily Ticket. We're coming down to home Stretch, Chambray,
Sean Minard talking all things NFL Week three, Putting a
bow on it. Yeah. The Power rankings is another fun
one shown here. And as we sit as far as
the NFL is concerned, I did see one show on
our quad box over here starting to rank the top ten.
Do you know who had they had at number one?
Speaker 3 (40:15):
I was did not see the number one, won't lie.
It was down to Eagles and Bills for one and two.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
Can you make the case for one over the other?
Would you say that the Bills are the best team
in the NFL right now at two?
Speaker 4 (40:25):
And oh, I think that's fair.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
I am a big like you got to take it,
take it from the champ kind of guy that you know,
the Eagles still hold the throne and are still towing up,
so I still view them as the gold standard, and
I do kind of think they're becoming the gold standard
of NFL football here.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
So I would still put the Eagles number one. But
I get the Bills arguing.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Yeah, it's just one of those things where I could
see the Bills being the topic of discussion for a
lot of people out there that are trying to come
up with the power rankings and having him top Billing
with the way that they have looked, especially ince that
game against Baltimore that comeback down fifteen. That is incredible
the way that that played out. But all in all,
(41:02):
you know, home here in Philadelphia, we're going to have
our biases kicking, and we're going to have that. The
Eagles will be number one. I don't know if I
would really if I was the power, rank the teams
right now, Bills are your number one. It's probably the Bills.
I probably put the Green Bay Packers in front of the.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
Eagles too, that I don't think you can do. Yeah,
so the same record as the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
It was a good win going on the road against
the Kansasy Chiefs Dallas TBD.
Speaker 4 (41:33):
I might say they're both better wins than what the
Packers have.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
They'd be the Lions, and like the Lions, I think
take took a step back this year.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
Commanders on Thursday Night was impressive.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Yeah, but I think the Chiefs and Cowboys are two
respectable wins, the Chiefs especially.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
HM. All right, let's see what else do we have here? Yeah, look,
I probably put the Bills at one. I would put
the Bill one, and then if I'm moving on, have
the Eagles at two. Trying to think would the Packers
be it? What about the Bucks or was sleeping on
the box? That's another good victory. Two good victories on
(42:11):
the road. They're legit sleeping on the Chargers. Two good
victories on the road, no comment, Yeah exactly. Let's see
here with the Cincinnati Bengals. No, we're not even bring
them into the copic discussion, and it cult's the same
thing two and oh there as well. No, I'm good
on that.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
Are you writing the Bengals off without Joe burroway too?
Even if they find a ticket in and get him
back for the playoffs, he could come back mid December.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
Yeah. Look, I think it's one of those things where
they could get a team or win a game that
you know, some people probably have them an underdog, and
if they were able to make the playoffs, but to
go on a run, I'm out on that. I wasn't
buying it last year. I'm not buying it now. Plus
Joe Burrow could get hurt again. Yeah, he comes back
and he gets hurt again.
Speaker 3 (42:58):
They're two and oh, we're gonna have the conversation the
wins and losses. They are too and oh they're over
under for the season, drop from nine and a half
to seven and a half after the bro injury.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
There.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
I'm not closing the door completely on Cincinnati. I do
think there's a hunger within that team. The defense still
looks for off but they got other ways that they
can score. If Jake Brown can be okay, if this
team can sit around the five hundred type of record,
I could see them being you know, in the mix,
com Burro, it's return time.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Hmm, yeah, could be could be the case. And I
know I was trying to make that case last year.
But I'm gonna pass on that. I'm out on the
Joe Burrow hype train right now until he can make
it through a season healthy again. That dude is injury
prone and you can't do that. You can't be hurt
in the league. You know what it is. The greatest
(43:45):
stability is what availability. I know you don't buy into that.
Speaker 4 (43:48):
I do not know, do not whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
All Right, A fun show to say the least. Today
we are all things phillied up as the Phillies are
back in the MLB playoffs once again. Favorites on DraftKings
sportsbook to win the World Series. But you gotta put
you know, put the pen in the paper side. You
gotta get the job done on the field, So we'll
see how that one plays out. But they're back at
(44:13):
it tonight, Game two against the Dodgers after clinching the
division last night. Two times in a row. You gotta
love it. Pretty special stuff there. And if you missed
it last night, this is how it sounded. Curtsy of
the Phillies Radio Network.
Speaker 5 (44:27):
Two balls, two strikes. Space is loaded, two outs to pitch,
swinging abouts for the first. Harper gloves it takes it
himself and the Phillies take the National League East Division crown.
It's their second straight Divisional crown. As the Phillies come
running out of the dugout and share hugs on the
(44:47):
pitchers mound at Dodgers Stadium.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
Who's doing something tonight out there in LA. We don't
even know the lineup, that's the problem. Let me see,
do we have anything? No, because it's a late game
too as well. Yeah, you're right, late late games. So
we'll see what happens there. As far as who's getting PT.
No lineup just yet, yep. Nothing, give me stubs to
go yard as he's filling in for JT.
Speaker 3 (45:12):
Why not he did it last year? If anything, he's
fueled up. This is Garrett Stubbs time. This is Garrett
Stubbs situation.
Speaker 2 (45:18):
The Vibes. Yeah, I love it. The director of Vibes,
he's back with the big balls Chiefs five Officer. I
like that as well. All Right, Sean, great stuff. You
can find all of his content. Does a great job
for DK network and I find folks over at Crossing
Abroad dot com. He's with me every Tuesday. Coming up
(45:38):
next we go live the Chickis and Petees in Malvern
for the head Coach Mark Ferrante's show. Be back tomorrow. Everybody,
good luck on those plays. Looking forward to talking more
NFL focusing on the Eagles a little bit more as
we head to Sunday with a really big game against
the l a Rams Week three spot. It might be
the game of a week as far as the NFL
is concerned. Hey, you got the Line and the Ravens
(46:00):
on Monday night, but Sunday absolutely the biggest game on
the Sunday card, taking place at Lincoln Financial Field at
one pm for Chean Braces are for Champ Barnard. I'm
chan brace, So talk to you tomorrow. Head Coach Mark
Ferranti shows next
