the commercial breaks, and it was the party at a

She's like, I loved this song. I love it. Yeah,
Phillies came up short, you know, and what it's it's gone.

You know, each season down more, one level down more.
It was the nl he was the World Series, NLCS, NLDS, yep.
And I just feel different this team. Let's open up
the five o'clock hour talking about exactly this team right here,
right now, Like I'm watching last night and I'm like,
oh yeah, trade full disclosure. I won't lie to you

one bit. The NFL college football has been front and
center since it's kicked off. I can't get enough of football.
I love football. Football is king. It's a great show
on the airwaves here between Beef and McClay. But you know,
and it's not to say that I'm not the pain
of the Phillies, but it's been in the background a
little bit here then compared to the whole summer. But

I love watching them. So I'm watching last night and
I'm like, oh, yeah, that's right, Trey turners out for
a little bit. That's right. That's a tough laws.

I had a schedule. By the way, part Rob Thompson, that's.

Great to hear. And I think that we were all
very hopeful that would be the case. But you know,
you're looking around and still this team is battling back,
coming back and winning that game without Trey out there
at shortstop. And if they do get a guy who
was potentially going to be the best hitter in the
National League winning that award, then look out, you know,
the rich get richer. So I love the pitching staff. Oh,

by the way, without Zach Wheeler, it's absurd what they're
able to do. But I opened up the show saying
this about the Phillies. All season long, I have just
had so much joy watching these dudes compete. I know,
Kyle Schwerber with the bombs is setting the table and
that's a lot of fun. But it goes more than that.
It really goes into, of course, the Alec Bohms and

the guys that have been here and the success that
they're seeing again this year. Bryce Harper being of course
the showman, the leader, a JT who has been balling
this year coming up clutch. I can go on and on,
but this team has been such a joy to watch,
and oh, by the way, they're winning. There's nothing better
than that.

Yeah, even guys like cat Player finding a way to
find their role make an impact, and it's been a
rocky season for a ton of guys. I think it's
sort of has gotten overlooked the bumps in the road
that this Phillies team has faced for all the reasons
that you just mentioned them. It has not been all
like rosy outlook. They found a way to keep producing
victories and stay on the right track even when it
hasn't felt like that was always going to be the case.
So I think the season is a testament to sort

of the business like mentality that they've had from start
to finish this year.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
And the goals are still right ahead of them.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
So they're just ramping up for the most important part
of this stretch, but can't be happy with what they
brought to the table to this point.

Well, the Phillies landed in LA according to MLB dot
Com a little before two am two am locals. I'm
then seven hours several hours later than scheduled because they
had another mechanical issue with their plane. It's happened a
few times this year to the Phillies. But they played
the Dodgers at seven ten pm, and then after it

I'll tell you what on my timeline, I hate to
go from that to this. I have a guy that
is just so anti Baitter. It's like this dude has
tweeted me paragraphs now about how Baitor will struggle come
playoff time and that's why you need to play in
the Castiano. So again, things shame changed when Baterer was
brought in and the platoon needed to happen. But Rob

Thompson deserves all the credit in the world. Certainly the
front office for making the move, no doubt, but Rob
Thompson the way he has handled this, and it hasn't
been easy. I'm sure Castianos is not a guy that
it's easy to bench. But it's happened, and you know what,
whatever he's doing, I don't think you changed that. I
get it. Maybe you want to really like, we all realize.

We all realize the playoff pitching is different than regular
season pitching. I'm not here to make out Harrison Bader
into some player that he's not. But he's been playing
very well. I think Luke Carcan and yourself agreed that
he's been the best player on this team since he's
been acquired back in August. The first you know his
numbers are there, it's hard to argue he deserves playing time.

But just like, okay, you tell me what Nick Castianos
is all of a sudden gonna like the world on
fire come playoff time.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
He hit well last year. I'll give you that last year.
I'm a Nick Casians defender here. I and by the way,
twenty one career average in the playoffs. He's got his flaws,
like he's not perfect, but I will not let it
be forgotten that he was their best hitter in the.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Playoffs last year.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
And I also think, to his credit that you're definitely right,
he's not the easiest guy to throw on the bench.
I give him credit that I do think he's a
guy that's motivated by kicking the butt, though like he
has not thrown his head down and powded. He's still
for the most part, delivered for this Phillies team. So
I still think Castianis is an important part of this
overall roster.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
All Right, Well, I'm not going to sit here and
say that it is going to be one guy over
the other that is going to lead the charge. From
the outfield perspective, I think, you know, like I said,
Thompson has been calling the right shots. Yeah, so how
do you argue with the way he's going to go
about it come playoff time? Like if he thinks Harrison

Bater deserves the the starts and then Nick Casti is
coming off the bench to pinch hit, isn't that the
way it should be? Right? I just like Harrison Bater
is a heck of a lot better fielder out there.
I just feel like he should be getting the run.
His numbers are backing it up. I get it. It's
a different game come playoff time. So we got to
talk about matchups. So we're getting a little ahead of ourselves.

But to be as adamant as this guy is, like
dude slow down and Bata's guy with some playoff scars.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
By the way, this dude has been to battle but
been in the big moment and had some highs like
to his time with the Yankees, especially, there's impressive numbers
and looked look the part when it was on the
field him him, and like really looking like one of
the more competent players on that overall roster doing that run.
So I think Beata is going to be a huge
part and it is really impressive. Like I don't think
any of us really blinked eye when this trade went

through of like he's fine, He's a good addition. This
is another guy that saying I did not expect him
to be this seamless fit the way that it has
been that everything has sort of fallen into place around it,
and the most balanced center field that they've had in
several years at this point when you factor in the
defense and everything else.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
I'm a bater guy. How could I say I'm a
beatter guy than say in the next breath, Well, you
got to ride off with what Thompson? No, he needs
to play. I don't care if it's the postseason.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
What's your outfield right now? If you're Rob Thompson, this
is game one of the playoffs right now? What do
you roll out?

Oh man? That's a good one. Well, who are they facing?
That's that's where it's got to start, right, you know,

I could get down with Castianos being my pinch hitter

when you get in depth about going up against left
handed pitching too, he's better versus lefties than he is righties.

player in baseball.

I think this like should be a coin flip type

think the show Heytani has this locked up conversation is
when he's a legitimate part of the pitching rotation, which
he has not in this year, nor has he been
good in those opportunities when he's been pitched for the

did ask him from a voting perspective, is there any
chance that he thinks that it could happen where Schwerber

based off of you don't ever doubt a voter, like,
don't ever just think that they're locked in and it's
going to be one player. No, because voters will often
be fickle and they'll change their mind and maybe they
don't want to go with the crowd, they want to
go against the grain. But I just feel like show

the same thing after it's all said and done, he

is going to be the greatest baseball player we've ever
seen play. Part of that is because he pitches. You're right, yeah,
but he's coming back from major surgery and he's working
himself into it and that they've had a pretty good plan.
He has had some good starts right this year.

this year?

Well, they had him on the short leash way early
in the in the in the season, he didn't start
until what June. Pitching I believe, so not much. Give

all games, He's pitched thirty six innings.

I don't think when you're like, I think that should
basically be disqualified.

Yeah, jump from plus forty five hundred to plus sixteen
hundred in Heisman odds just after this weekend.

And again that's coming after a loss there.

So I think even the most like hardcore Tennessee faithful
weren't sure what they were getting with the Joey Aguilar experience.
I believe Apple ash from transfer at Last and State
transfer guy there, but yeah, he looks the part to me.
So Tennessee has kind of climbed in the conversation, and
this may be a college football playoff threat in a
way that I did not perceive them that way coming
into the season.

Yeah, we're already in a week four here, so we
move into some juicier games as September comes to a close.
Not just yet, but we will get some better matchups,
including this week. We got some good ones as well.
I guess you know. The big one would be A
and M. Of course we hype that one up and
the way that they won at the end. Read has
got nine touchdowns one interception on the season and not

the best game from him as far as seventeen to
thirty seven, but did end up with three sixty two
touchdowns on the road in Notre Dame in a game
that they needed to find a way to win. That
was one result that had my attention. And of course
Vandy in South Carolina was a game that we discussed
a ton on the show leading up to it and
Vandy laying the lumber on them. Of course, Sellers gets

hurt and that changes how that game played out. But
all in all, Vandy is the real deal and Georgia
Tech opening up the game with the upset victory over Clemson.
Clemson stinks, Yeah, they do. They're in trouble. They are
in trouble. Georgia Tech deserves a ton of credit for
winning that game, finally finding a way to get over
the hump, and they look like a team that could
very well be in competition for a playoff spot. I know,

we got a long way to go, an interesting schedule
for them, to say the least, CAL also in the ACC.
Watch out for them. I know it's very odd to
say the CAL is in the ACC, but with their
schedule remaining, I think people are trying to talk themselves
into potentially being a team to come out of that conference.
It's gonna be interesting, as we often say, coming down
the stretch to see who's in the playoffs and who's not,

And especially with only one year in from the college
football playoff happening, So who's gonna come up short? Because
that was the big talking point last year where teams
were on the outside looking in that potentially deserve to
be in. And right now, I don't know how that's
gonna play up because we've got way too many games
to be played. So but some of the games that
did grab my attention. I think you're right when we

got to look at what Tennis and Georgia game was
came down to. Also, you have to continue to look
at LSU went in tough football games in Miami. Yeah,
which more in that game to do with South Florida
than anything, because you know that they started smelling themselves.
But Miami is the real deal now three and zero
on the season, forty nine to twelve, big time victory

where there are a lot of people saying that South
Florida was to play in that one.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Yeah, and I was one of them, So.

I have to eat those a little bit that I
was buying the ball.

Those college kids were out there partying all weeks show.

Yeah, yeah, well I kind of it'd take two ways.
So obviously the week before that, South Florida upset Florida
and there were a ton of takeaways based off that.
Then of course we get Miami versus South Florida this
week and Miami just kind of dog walks them, and
we get Florida versus LSU. Els you edged out of
twenty to ten victory here, I think there's not enough
credit being given to LSU for getting a victory and

a pretty spirited Florida effort, and a little bit too
much praise being given to Miami for just dominating a
USF team. And I also want to know if you
were at all a Garrett nous Meier believe from a
Heisman Trophy perspective, the time to get on the Nuss
bus is right now that he's dropped a plus thirteen
hundred in Heisman odds.

He was a plus eight hundred favorite as of two
weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
Here he's gonna be in a ton of primetime action
down the stretch of this season. They're three to zero.
You're not gonna get a better number than that, and
I think now is the time to bet. I got
to write up on DraftKings Network about that nice and
I do think that if you want to get in
the Garrett or Garrett Nusburger Heisman experience, now is the time.

It's interesting when you look around the quarterbacks that will
be potentially there and you want to go down the
card to find one or two that you can find
with some big numbers attached to it. But you're right,
you got to look at what the matchups would be
and where they'll be playing. Dampier could be you know,
coming out of of course with Utah and as a
darn good team could be potentially undefeated and twenty to

one would be a name. Agilar could be throwing up
some serious numbers. But if they lose again, are they
out of it? Jeremiah Smith had a big game, albeit
not against the best competition. What's Ohio State's schedule looking like? Here?
What do they got going on here?

Speaker 3 (21:04):
I want to say they put Ohio this week? No,
they just yeah, they just wumped them up. Yeah, Ohio State.
They won thirty seven to nine in that one. But
they have Washington the they have the week off as
a couple teams from the Big ten do. Then they
have Minnesota. Illinois could be a tough one. Illinois top
ten ball club right now. Wisconsin, then Penn State at

the Shoe on November first. Wow, that's gonna be a
banger of a game if both teams run the table
up until that point. Even if there's one loss, it's
gonna be a great game. Even if Penn State slips
up against Oregon, which I do think is a potential
spot where they could get upset Ohio State against Purdue,
UCLA Wow, Rutgers, and then in Michigan closing up shop

against Michigan at the end of the year as they
do every single season. That's an easy schedule. Jeremiah Smith
needs to put up better numbers. Yeah, nine grabs, one
and thirty seven yards one touchdown. It's not the season
that I thought he was going to.

I thought we would be looking at, you know, a
player that would be getting three touchdowns, two touchdowns and games.
He's fifth in Heisman yea, Yeah, I have a future
on him in the preseason. That is my horse that
I am riding still at this point in time, and
I believe that he will be the guy that gets
the job done. But you're right, when you look at
the schedule, you gotta look at the quarterbacks first. Who's

playing prime time matchups? Who you think is going to
win some of these games? Will it be Mateer, who's
the odd odds on favor right now in DraftKings sportsbook
eight to one or Carson back at nine to one?
Can they continue to win? We'll see what's Miami's schedule.

I got a couple of big games. So they got
a Tennessee matchup, if I'm not mistaken, Florida State, Florida State, Florida.
They got Florida this weekend. Let's see here, Florida State
back to back. Now, they got a week off there
at the end of September.

So they go Florida, Florida State, Louisville. They got another buye. Okay,
then they go Stanford SMU Syracuse and State Virginia Tech
Pitt hmm, Yeah, that seems like that would be a
bunch of wins down the stretch here. So they get Louisville,
they could potentially lose, Florida State could get him, don't

know yet. That's that's in Tallahassee. And they're not losing
this week to Florida, no way.

At no panic? Yeah, he was just hyped up a

the air. I thought it was a slam dunk overall
number one pick. I thought he was a little bit better,
but something's changed in his delivery. Yeah, the game obviously
is a little bit more difficult for him at this
point in time, and maybe it's in his best interest

I think Oklahoma's to play here. I know I think

thirty both teams three and oh maybe sneaky watch out
for Tulane in that one.

I don't think there's been an official announcement yet, but
we got some line movement that indicates that's likely the case.

don't expect it here. I think Miami rolls Illinois and
Indiana is probably one of the bigger games, if not

they've looked a part. Indiana has had their moments. They

played anybody Indiana State, Kannessas State and Old Dominion, but

of like Illinois to keep it close and maybe go

in there and win that game. They look great against
Duke I thought Duke was a good team. They give
me Illinois on that one as well. Georgia State Vandy
Vandy three and oh their twenty six and a half
point favorites at home. LSU Southeast. I want to say,
see is at Southeast Louisiana. Yeah, Southeasternia Southeastern. Excuse me?

That game has a no number attached to it. Texas
taking on Sam Houston at forty and a half. And
then finally late night USC and Michigan State Michigan State
three and oh. On the season, they're catching eighteen and
a half. Michigan State beat Youngstown State, beat Boston College
forty two to forty in the in the Week two matchup,

and took out Western Michigan in Game one from the
MAC of twenty three to six. So watch out Michigan
State could be a sneaky good play there as well.
Like I said, USC did not cover the number against
Purdue last weekend. A lot of college football conversations coming
your way, as it always does here in the Gambler.

Fox PHL game. We get involved in the conversation and
NFL would love to discuss with you some of the
big talking points here when it comes to where we're
at right now currently in this season, and I want

to know from you as far as the toughest division,
Sean Bedard, the toughest division for you in the NFL,
the handicap, where are you at with that conversation, the
toughest one, which one you think is up for grabs
the most right now?

Speaker 3 (35:36):
So as far as to win the division most difficult, correct,
I probably leaned the AFC West though with the Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders,
and Chargers there. The Chargers is currently leading things to
and out like I think if things break correctly, all
four of these teams could make the playoffs, with the
Raiders the least likely in that conversation, But I don't
believe the Chiefs are going to stay down at the
bottom there. I do believe Denver is going to play

(35:57):
better than they look to this point. So I think
the AFC West is wide open for the taking.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
Okay, AFC West involved for the taking? Interesting, all right? Hmm,
it's hard. Yeah, Look, you know, because are you're not
ready to give it to the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
The Chiefs are not gonna go away like the Chiefs
are currently last currently the standings, the Chargers in the
lead with the two and zero record, both the Raiders
and Broncos are one and one, and the Chiefs are
owing to at the bottom. There Again, I think all
four of these teams could potentially be playoff teams. I
think there's a zero chance the Chiefs finished this season
and fourth here. I think they're going to string together
some win wins, So I think there's completely this division

(36:36):
is still completely up for grabs.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
H all right, what are we saying about the South
with the Colts, the Jags, the Texans, and we'll put
the Titans to the side.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Different kind of battle as I think when we have
the AFC West conversation, I'm viewing all these teams as
potential playoff threats. When we're having the AFC Sath conversation,
I don't really view any of them.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Houston.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
I've been really discouraged how c de Straud has looked,
how non existent in that offensive line is that should
be the best team in this division. I'm still not
sure how much I'm buying is real about this Colts
two and oh start. It's tough to dispute how Daniel
Jones has look So that's certainly in the conversation here,
I think at one way or another that Houston still
finds a way to win this division.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
All right. The NFC East, is this an Eagle slam dunk?

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Yeah, this is an Eagle slam dunk. I think it's
one of the easier races, to be honest. The Cowboys
will be around, the Commanders will take a hit after
that Jade Daniel's injury. But the Eagles are the defending
champions and have looked maybe not look the part, but
they're two and oh. A win is a win, and
they got more levels that they can unlock for sure.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
And the NFC North with the Packers, the Lions and
the Vikings and put the Bears to the side.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
I think the Packers are a tier above the other teams,
I really do.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Yeah, I think so too. They're minus two hundred DJ
Lions plus two seventy there, So that's an easy one
as far as that is concerned. Let's see here. And
then the NFC South, Bucks and Falcons.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
That's a good there. It's just a top heavy one,
is I think it'll come down to those two. I
don't think the Panthers and certainly not the Saints really
are a threat to win that division. I think Tampa
Bay is gonna be in the driver's seat, not let
their foot off the gas. With that said, I do
still think the Falcons are a playoff team, so a
good division could be a decent race there. I think
because it's just the two of them sort of disqualifies
it from this list for me.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
All right, And as far as what we're looking at
right now, who you got making the playoffs that might
be on the outside looking in for most people? Is
there a sleeper team? Because I look at the yes
and the no from the playoff perspective and whether or
not we can find a way to win some cash
here with some big numbers attached to it, I'll be

(38:42):
it week two, so it's early or week three excuse
me at this point in time, but a long way
to go. Is there a team that you think, you
know what, watch out? I still got them in the
I'm gonna have them making the playoffs here.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Yeah, Landa is a team I've banged the drum for
pretty heavily on the Kansas City Chiefs that minus won
sixty five odds to make the playoffs and DraftKings. You're
not gonna get any better than that, and I think
that's a good wager to place at this stage in
the game. The Falcons numbers sitting at plus one fifteen
here scrolling around a little bit. The Raiders number at
plus three hundred is interesting to me. I can see

that team being like nine or ten and seven, nine
and eight type of team, and right on the border
line there. I think plus three hundred it's a pretty
good numbers. So if I'm if I'm calling the shot
a little bit, it might be the Raiders from a
payoff perspective, plus three hundred odds.

see the Bills being the topic of discussion for a
lot of people out there that are trying to come
up with the power rankings and having him top Billing
with the way that they have looked, especially ince that
game against Baltimore that comeback down fifteen. That is incredible
the way that that played out. But all in all,

you know, home here in Philadelphia, we're going to have
our biases kicking, and we're going to have that. The
Eagles will be number one. I don't know if I
would really if I was the power, rank the teams
right now, Bills are your number one. It's probably the Bills.
I probably put the Green Bay Packers in front of the.
